Chapter Thirty Six.

"Go ahead and kill me. I know you'll do it when he brings the coffin." Stefan spat at the Hybrid.
Niklaus chuckled and pulled Stefan's arm from the fireplace.
"You really have given up, haven't you?" He asked. "Where's the fight? Where's the Ripper?"
Niklaus, determined to bring back the Stefan he knew almost a century ago, shoved the younger Salvatore, attempting to provoke him. Stefan shoved him back, ready for a fight. Only a few moments later, Damon and Elijah walked back in, a servant girl trailing behind them, holding a tray covered in a white cloth.
"Elijah, why haven't you left?" Niklaus asked.
"Where are your manners, brother? We forgot dessert." Elijah gave his brother a small smile and lifted the cloth, which was when Niklaus noticed the two silver daggers on the servant's tray.
His eyes widened slightly at the realisation of what his older sibling had done.
"What have you done?" He growled.
"What have you done? You see, I've learned not to trust your vulgar promises, Klaus. We're doing this on my terms now." Elijah told him.
At that moment, Kol entered the room.
"Kol." Niklaus breathed, his eyelids fluttering with the shock.
"Long time, brother." The youngest Mikaelson boy smiled before glancing to Rayna. "How good to see you again, darling."
Rayna simply scowled at him as Niklaus began to back away from his sibling.
Finn entered the room behind Kol.
The oldest brother grabbed one of the daggers from the tray and stabbed the Hybrid through the hand.
"Finn, don't!" Niklaus yelled, backing away still, but ended up running into someone else.
He turned around sharply, only to run into Rebekah, who looked a lot less than pleased.
"Rebekah!" Niklaus exclaimed.
She said nothing, but instead stabbed him with her dagger.
"This is for our mother." She hissed.
She pulled the dagger out of Niklaus' chest, allowing him to fall back into Kol's arms, restraining him.
Elijah looked over to Stefan and Damon, who were intrigued by the entire ordeal unfolding before them.
"You're free to go. This is family business." He said to them before turning to the on-looking Rayna.
"You too, my dear."
Rayna's expression changed from entertained to displeased as she rose from her seat.
She left the Mikaelson mansion with the Salvatore brothers and began to head to the old cellar of one of the Founding Families. According to Stefan's previous catch up with her, there were some tunnels under the Lockwood property that led to a secret underground cavern, where she now knew the fourth coffin was hidden.
"Ah, you were right about Elijah. Undaggering him was a smart move." Stefan said.
"Wow, actual acknowledgement of a job well done. You're going soft, Stefan." Damon smirked.
Rayna slapped Damon in the stomach, making him let out a sharp groan.
"Okay, okay. Rayna's job well done."
"So, I guess I should thank you for saving me from Klaus?" Stefan asked.
"Shut up, you don't get to thank me until I pay you back for all those times you've saved me." Damon argued.
"You could have left me there. Klaus would have killed me and you would have had Elena all to yourself." Stefan pointed out.
Rayna rolled her eyes as Damon's phone began to vibrate.
It was Elena, but he chose to cancel the call.
"I didn't do it on your account." He muttered.
"I love her, Damon." Stefan sighed.
"So do I." The older brother replied.
Rayna looked up at the pair.
It was the first time Damon had actually admitted his feelings toward the Doppelganger in front of her.
And it broke her heart.

The three of them got to the Lockwood cellar and headed towards the cavern.
"Let's hope big Witch and little Witch got that coffin open." Damon said.
"Something's gotta make this night worthwhile." His brother sighed his reply as they walked through the tunnels.
After a while, the body of an unconscious girl came into the trio's view.
Stefan ran to her.
"Bonnie?" He called to her. "She's still breathing."
"Bonnie as in this generation's Bennett Witch?" Rayna clarified.
Damon nodded, noticing a woman strongly resembling the Witch also laying on the ground a few feet away.
"Mama's still breathing, I can hear her." He said.
Rayna looked to the coffin that rested on a large piece of rock.
"Stefan." She called, lightly, grabbing his attention. She gestured to the coffin.
"Coffin's open..." He sighed.
"Well, it's not gunna do us any good. Whatever was in it is gone." Damon huffed.
