When writing a story, I often find myself looking to other books, shows, writers, songs, movies etc for inspiration. As I've said before, there are a lot of good writers tips out there, but one thing I've noticed is that people tend to try to show only one in my opinion very uncreative way of figuring out your story. My greatest advice for someone trying to figure out their story is to sit down and decide how you want to work it out. For me, I have a notebook crammed with ideas for my stories, it's unorganized and messy but that's what works for me, usually because I have the beginning and the ending of a story worked out before I love even started writing and I struggle to make an in between. Having a notebook with things to pig in between helps me to stay focused on the actual writing of the story. That's just me, there are thousands of other ways to work out a story. It may be helpful to do something visually, or to write it out on paper first, it may help to connect yourself to a single character and branch out parts of yourself into you book, it may help to just sit down and type/write out all of your ideas, dialogue and plots and then sort it out, it may help to do it the way we're taught in school. It's just important that when you are writing your story, it's coming from your ideas, your process, so that it's truly yours and you can write it how you feel is best.
