eighteen - 3 biggest lies about writing!
1) always begin with the end in mind is a big fat lie. you dont have to begin with the end in mind. its recommended, yes, but its not like you have to. having an end in mind helps you know where your story is going, yes, but not all the time. sometimes, the best way to have a good written story is to improvise the whole way there. feelings change, plans change, and so will your plot. so, ultimately, your ending will change as well. and as you improvise, as you keep going on limb, you're going to have better ideas, better plot twists, better characters.
2) always show, dont tell is also a lie. if youre always showing us what is happening, your book is going to be full of just actions. sometimes, tell us what's happening. like this: she let her head drop as tears filled up in her eyes. she felt sad. show emotion, tell feeling.
3) you always need motivation or inspiration to write. WRONG. you dont need motivation or inspiration or anything like that to write. writing is something that you can do with/or without it. inspiration is for amateurs. real writers write. many writing blogs and even books say that. they give endless suggestions for helping you get inspired, from changing your location to reading inspirational writing to listening to music. however, while inspiration is always nice, the pros agree that you should never wait for inspiration to start writing. like stephen king once said, "amateurs sit and wait for inspiration, the rest of us just get up and go to work."
