~Part 5: Extras~

CherryBlossomSky:

The following are books that my teacher recommended me to read to have some resources if I had questions about some techniques in writing.

Writing Books:

>On Writing by Stephen King-- This is my FAVORITE book about writing. King explains how he got into it, the process of being a starving artist that becomes wildly famous, and gives practical advice about the tools you'll need to write well.

I'm reading King's book and I love it! His voice is so evident that it makes reading about writing amazing!

>Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott-- A hilarious guide to writing, particularly fiction. She addresses the reader directly and has tons of advice.

>The Elements of Style by Strunk and White-- My honest opinion is a very dry read but it somehow is very famous and important style guide for good writing.

>Write Source 200-A Guide to Writing, Thinking, and Learning-- This book is made more for younger students, but it has every rule and every answer you'll likely need about common grammar and writing.

>3 Simple Truths and 6 Essential Traits of Powerful Writing-- This is a several book series but they are more advanced and Will help with higher level writing.

>Eats, Shoots, & Leaves by Lynn Truss-- A really funny look at grammar and why the world might end without it.

>The Play of Word-Fun and Games For Languages Loves by Richard Lederer-- If you like how English doesn't often make sense, this one is for you.

>The Write Brian Workbook by Bonnie Neubauer-- This has writing prompts where the pages are super fun and you're supposed to write on them.

>1,000 Creative Writing Prompts--Ideas for Blogs, Scripts, Stories and More... Okay, this book literally 1,000 prompt ideas and questions broken down into sections like family, sports, holidays...

>Rip the Page! Adventures in Creative Writing by Karen Benke-- This has writing exercises and plenty of prompt ideas.

Grammar Books:

>Eats, Shoots & Leaves by Lynn Truss-- A really funny look at grammar and why the world might end without it.

>Woe is I: The Grammarphobe's Guide to Better English in Plain English-- This is a book dedicated for people who absolutely LOATHE grammar, but want to understand it better. A good read!

>The Glamour of Grammar: A Guide to the Magic and Mystery of Practical English-- This is a deeper grammar manual but you will learn a lot from it.

>Writing Talk-- These blue books and purple books has all of the rules and practice exercises in case you get REALLY weird as an adult and want to torture yourself.
