Extra One: See You Again

All extras are written from the POV of Adam's future wife.

"Alright, so I need somebody to do the write up of interview we got for the sixth avenue story," the man in front all of us said, looking around the room. His permanent frown on his face did nothing to soothe the high tension from every single person.

So I internally sighed and raised my hand, "I'll do it, sir."

He slammed his hand on the table then pointed to me, "Good, send it to my e-mail by four."

Before I could even ask for the file of the said interview, he had already turned around and exited the room. I groaned, sinking down onto my chair and scratching the side of my head in frustration. I turned to my side and saw my co-interns, all turning their attention back to their computer screens.

I clicked my tongue loudly with my arms crossed, "Are you guys ever going to volunteer and do some work or are you just here for the sake of saying that you got intern at one of the biggest newspapers in New York."

"Hey!" one protested, glaring at me through his square hipster glasses, "That's really unfair for you to say."

"Is it really?" I huffed, pushing myself up from my seat, "Because from my end, this is already the third time he entered here to give us a task and somehow, all three of those ended up falling onto my shoulders."

And this guy just had the nerve to fight back, "Nobody asked you to volunteer all three times."

"Well, from my perspective, not one was going to do it anyways. Might as well get him out of this room as fast possible," I replied, walking over to his desk and peeking at his computer screen, "Seriously? You wrote a five page story on Heart Valentine's twenty-first birthday? That's the reason why you can't even volunteer for at least one of the things he wanted us to write?"

"Her birthday happened on February and she only held the party this month," he explained as if it would actually excuse him, "Isn't that a little sus?"

I rolled my eyes and took a step back, using every willpower in me not to yell at him for being such a slacker on the job, "Everybody was most probably busy during her actual birthday so she waited until summer to celebrate so more people could come. Twenty-one is a pretty big one so the more, the merrier."

As much as I know that celebrity gossip is part of the news business, I would hardly think somebody simply wanting to celebrate her birthday could warrant that long of an article. Even I would be admittedly bored with it.

"Just do something more productive and don't dump the whole internship work on me," I said firmly, turning on my heel and walking towards the man who gave me the assignment. He, on the other, just won't let it go and kept on following me.

"You think you're the boss of us when you're just another intern," he practically spat out but at this point, I decided that listening to him was just pointless.

The man was hunched over his desk, his eyes going over a piece of paper with so many red marks and post-its stuck to it. I cleared my throat to get his attention, "Sorry to bother you sir, but can I please have the file of the interview?"

He didn't bother to glance up and only clicked his tongue, opening up his computer to give me what I asked for, "Name?"

"Grace Lelyveld, sir," I replied quickly and he simply started typing. However, I watched as his eyes widened and he rotated his chair so he could face me.

Oh gosh, here we go.

"Don't tell me, you're..." he said almost breathlessly, "Are you related to him?"

I simply flashed him a smile, opting not to verbally agree or deny his question.

"Why didn't you say so?" his frown slowly lifted into a grin, surprising both me and the annoying person buzzing behind me like a bumble bee who wouldn't get lose, "You have a bright future! I'll send those files to your e-mail quickly."

"Thank you, sir," I told him and while I do appreciate my connections, I didn't like parading them around. After giving him a respectful nod, I went back to the other room.

"Lelyveld?" Mister Annoying questioned out loud, wracking his brain up for the probably familiar name. I managed to get back to my desk when he finally figured it out, "Wait, Pulitzer winning Lelyveld?"

His voice was so loud that the interns turned their attention to us. They connected the dots immediately and another one piped in, "Former executive editor Lelyveld?"

I truly wanted to scream.

I ignored them because at this point, I might strangle somebody if they utter another word towards my direction. I plopped down onto my office chair and grabbed my phone, calling my best friend because I've honestly had enough of these people.

"Hey Gracie," she chimed happily.

I placed my hand over the mouse and started going back to work, "Are you free for lunch? I really need a pick me up."

I thank the heavens that she was home for the summer. Even though I wasn't much to talk because I could be just as busy, knowing that she was in another continent did make me miss her more.

"Oh, well I was supposed to meet a friend but you're more than welcome to join us."

I lifted a brow, pausing from my scrolling, "Friend? A friend that isn't my friend too?"

Sienna and I have been best friends before I could even sit up as a baby. Meaning, throughout our lives, we share our friends. We were always in the same group.

"You remember Adam, right?" she told me and it instantly click.

"Yeah, how can I forget the guy who takes care of you at uni?" I joked, "Is Justin tagging along too?"

"No, he said that his mom made him her personal butler for the day," she laughed.

I smirked because there was one thing I loved to do and that was to tease her, "So you're meeting with your former love interest when your boyfriend's not there? So scandalous."

"Gracie!" she yelled and I continued to chuckle at her expense, "I already told Justin and he's completely fine about it."

While I did like to joke around like this, I was quite envious. Sienna found her person, the one she was completely sure of. Even if they did hit a rough patch somewhere down the road, that didn't hinder them from realizing that they truly belonged together.

Sure, I've been dating and I've had multiple ex-boyfriends in the past, but it was different when you managed to finally meet the person you were meant to be with.

I wanted something like that.

"Either way, I still want to have lunch so if you don't mind, I'd like to join you guys."

"I already said you can," I could practically hear her smile, "I'll text you the restaurant. See you later."

I placed my phone on the desk and picked up the mouse once again, ready to go back to doing my work. Before I could even click on the sent files, I heard a loud angry yell from the other room, "Who the fuck submitted five pages just for a celebrity's birthday?"

I tried to hide my snickers as I watched all color from mister annoying's face disappear.

Oh sweet karma.

. . .

I stepped inside the restaurant and immediately spotted that head of brown hair. She was laughing along to something that her companion said, creating a laxed feeling around them. It was exactly what I needed after all that tension in the office.

"Hey, sorry I took so long," I apologized once I got to their table.

"No problem, it was a good thing I decided to ask you if I should order for you," Sienna said, gesturing to the plate of salad that she got for me, "Adam, you remember Gracie, right?"

"Met her over a year ago when they all visited you," he nodded, "It's so nice to see you again."

Adam Nicholas, he was Sienna's friend at university in England. I first met him when we all visited her for our spring break back during my sophomore year. He was nice, almost too nice if I have to say so, but he takes care of my best friend and I was extremely thankful for that.

But, even if they have such an adorable and genuine friendship, it still did not erase the fact that they did try dating. Of course, I knew her better than herself at times and guessed from the start that they wouldn't last long. She came to her senses eventually and got together with Justin, something I was extremely glad of.

Because it was painful to watch her mope for over a year because of him. Neither of them wanted the break up to happen and it was so obvious that they still loved one another.

I was just thankful that Adam learned to accept that and move on... hopefully he did.

"So what brings you all the way to New York?" I asked, sitting down on the chair next to Sienna.

"My best friend, who moved to America, had her birthday so she flew a bunch of us from England to celebrate with her here," he explained and I attempted to hide my surprise. Sienna already mentioned back then that his best friend was extremely wealthy, even for our standards.

I stabbed the green on my plate rather harder than I intended and flashed him a smile, "How wonderful of her."

"So got rid of that guy who's in charge of internships yet?" Sienna asked, effectively steering away the conversation.

"He figured out my last name, so it was a weird day," I sighed, once again assaulting the poor vegetable because there was nowhere else I could take out my frustration.

I love journalism, that was something I completely fell in love with back when I joined the school newspaper back in high school. From there, I knew that this was the career I wanted to pursue. So that was how I quickly took it up as my major and now I found myself interning for one of the biggest newspapers this summer.

It was like the opposite end of the writing spectrum from Sienna's love. She found her passion in creative writing and I remember dragging her along to write for the school newspaper against her will. While she won't admit it, I knew she enjoyed her time there.

"Well, I think it's amazing you're doing something productive with your summer," Sienna laughed, "I've just been laying around in bed all day."

"Wait, we asked you if you wanted to go out last Saturday and you said no because you had other plans," I remembered, "Where did you go?"

And if they think for a second that I missed that quick glance they shared, boy they were wrong.

My heart dropped in my chest. Sienna told me everything, except for one aspect of her life – her love life. Oh god, what was happening?

Somebody please tell me they didn't what I think they did. No, Sienna loves Justin, she wouldn't do that to him.

I transferred my attention to Adam for any hints. He pretended not to hear my little question, finding his food all to fascinating. I observed his brown hair flopping about with his movements, those matching brown eyes that stared at his plate, his long fingers that held his fork.

He was attractive, that was for sure. He also brings in this innate charm that just makes you want to know him more, to somewhat be closer to him. That was something I immediately observed when I first met him.

I know why Sienna liked him. While I do think he was the perfect balance of handsome and cute, his history with my best friend alarmed that he was definitely off limits.

Which I admit, is a complete bummer for me.

So that was why I went back to my harassment of the poor lettuce with my fork and tried to let these thoughts go.

-------------------------------

Yes, it's Gracie. We will have a total of three extra chapters (at least, that's how many I've already written and I think it's good way to end it already).

If you guys didn't know, my main hint was that she was an American writer that Adam met at uni. You guys already know that Gracie and Adam met during the 39th chapter so that ticks out the uni part. And Sienna also mentioned that she was a journalist and was the editor-in-chief of their school newspaper back in high school. Remember folks, creative writing is not the only type of writing out there.

Shoutout to Sapphydean for being the first one to guess it. But I also want to give credits to dreamcatcher2931 and naiorim for being the ones to actually elaborate and explain how they concluded that it was Gracie. All three of you, please shoot me a PM with the favor you want me to do!

But of course, my inbox is always open for you guys so never be afraid to message me about anything you want. Though if we're being honest, my instagram is the easiest way to communicate with me and that where I get the most messages from my readers, but you can still message me here on Wattpad.

Wait for two more chapters for the extra because you two will love Gracie and Adam. I swear, they're going to have a happy sappy ending. See you guys next chapter!
