As far as Emilia knows, she is the last of her family bloodline. After moving from foster home to foster home, she finally settles with the Dicksons. But knowing barely anything about her true family makes her lonely and closed off. However, it also makes her important.

After deciding that she wants to know more about her heritage, Emilia spends time researching about where she is from. Surprisingly, she doesn't find much. The only exception is that she finds on the deceitful source  a banned book that supposedly has all the answers about the Dominique family. Under it, it says the only true Dominique can open the book.

What happens when she goes to the one public library of her small town in Maine that possesses the book and is able to open it? What happens when she suddenly disappears from Maine and finds herself in a place she never knew existed?
