Frank was driving to work when the text came in;

"I would be delighted to have dinner with you tonight. XoXo."

The butterflies in his stomach were in a frenzy. His stomach rumbled out of excitement and a consistent buzz graced his ears.

He was going to propose to the woman he loved and he could hardly contain himself.

For the past one month the ring had felt like a bag of cement in his breast pocket, as he could not bring himself to part with it even for a few seconds.

As he drove, his mind wandered to the day he had met Mary.

He was going for a meeting when he bumped in this damsel in distress. Apparently her heel had broken causing her a really embarrassing dive into a puddle of muddy water.

Not knowing what to do, she had sat on a kerb, head in hand.

She looked familiar and anyway, what kind of a gentleman leaves a beauty in such a situation?

"Miss, are you okay?"

The smouldering look she gave him almost made him scamper away but he stayed.

"DO I LOOK OKAY TO YOU!?"

"Am really sorry, what can I do to help?"

Somehow that had softened her and they settled on shopping for a new dress and coffee afterwards to calm her down. Of course that meant cancelling his meeting and having a beautiful, angry woman decorate his car seats with mud, but that was a risk he was willing to take.

In an unforeseeable turn of events, they immensely enjoyed each other's company and even set another date.

That date had led to another, and then another, and now they could hardly go an hour without checking up on each other.

She always laughed at his corny jokes and once in a while surprised him with gifts he would love. His favorite were cufflinks monogrammed with his initials.

He would wear them tonight.

The drive to work seemed shorter than normal. Too much excitement? He Couldn't tell.

He texted her back;

"I will be picking you up at 5. Love you."

He smiled, picked his bag from the back seat and headed for his office.

It would be a spectacular day.
