Story Starters #2

A/N: This book is way more interesting than I thought. These prompts actually spark a lot of creativity. Like I said in the last chapter I'm going to be putting the actual prompt in italics and when it turns normal that's my writing.

Perhaps it was a dream, Eliza thought. Perhaps if she pinched herself, she would wake up. But she didn't want to wake up. She wanted to stay in this dream world where  Amelia was next to her. Amelia was just as she remembered, except there was something different about her. She looked to be almost glowing against the dark frame of the trees. The forest was silent and still. The velvet sky above sprinkled with stars; the moon shining brightly through opening in the branches.

But Eliza wasn't afraid.

She stood frozen, staring at Amelia before a wave of emotion slammed into her, taking her completely by surprise. Tears cascaded down her cheeks and her vision became blurry. Sobs echoed into the dark forest that surrounded her. She tried to speak through her sobs to call out to Amelia, but it came out slightly garbled. "I-I th-thought-t y-you we-were dead-d.." Eliza stuttered out through gasps. She could see now, and she turned her face back to where Amelia was standing.

She still looked to be glowing in the pale moonlight and her raven hair flowed behind her even though there was no breeze blowing. Her warm brown eyes were looking down at Eliza and a small smile was planted at her lips. "I am sis... But I need to talk to you." Eliza sobbed harder, her body was reduced to a shivering mass huddled on the forest floor. "C'mon Lizzy," Amelia said, approaching her sister slowly, "I need to talk to you... Please?"

Eliza stopped crying and sat upright, still letting out dry sobs. Her breathing pattern was spastic and irregular as she tried to calm herself down. She kept her eyes fixed on the forest floor for a few moments before letting out a loud sniff and furiously wiping away the remainder of her tears. She lifted her eyes to look at her sister who was offering her hand. Eliza took it and heaved herself up.

Amelia began leading them down a clear path with light purple orchids lining it. Eliza clung onto her hand, never letting go. She was secretly afraid if she let her hand slip out of hers that she'd lose her for a second time. They traveled in silence for a few minutes, just enjoying each other's company, before they entered a small clearing. There was a shallow pond in the center with koi fish in it and a mahogany bench set under a cherry blossom tree that was in full bloom. Lily pads with breathtaking flowers on top of them floated peacefully on the pond's surface.

Amelia sat down on the bench and Eliza followed suit. Amelia turned to her and began talking, "Listen... I know you feel like I abandoned you... I know you feel like you weren't enough, and that that's why I'm gone, but that's not true. I decided what I needed to escape everything was suicide. That was my decision. You had nothing to do with this, and I don't want you to end up like me... You better not come and visit me until you're suuuuper old." Amelia said with a smile. She playfully poked her sister's side to try and make her laugh (even though the situation was far from funny).

She sighed and went over to hug her sister. Eliza greedily wrapped her arms around Amelia. She let her tears soak her sister's pure white gown as she buried her head in her shoulder. Amelia smiled to herself and softly whispered, "I love you Lizzy..." Eliza opened her mouth to respond, but as she did she was suddenly looking a what appeared to be a plain white sheet. It took her a  moment to realize that she was staring at her ceiling. She wiped a stray tear from her eye and smiled for the first time in weeks.

She sighed gently to herself and mumbled, "I love you too Amy..."

A/N: Well, that took an unexpected turn, and I was writing this! Sorry for the sad story, but this is what came to my mind... Goodbye my fellow potatoes. :)
