Hey guys! First of all, I just wanted to say that I don't really think that I'm qualified to make one of these... but since so many people have asked me for writing advice, I figured I might as well make this. I hope this is helpful.

1. A Great Title

This may sound obvious, but having a great title will really help with your story. Make sure it's not bland or simple. Maybe even give it a double meaning! Use song lyrics or phrases. You want people to be able to easily remember it and for it to be unique and pop out.

2. A Great Cover

Again, kinda obvious, but a lot of the time if you have a good cover people will give your story a try! If your story's about a popular ship, (aka fanfics) try using a piece of fanart about that ship. If you have an original story, try using a reoccurring theme in your cover. Either way, Pinterest is a great place to look for photos.

I personally use the app PicCollage to place my title and username on my cover, which is good for making a unique cover.

3. Popular Ships

A good place to start for new writers is writing a story with an overused plot. The funny thing about Wattpad is that people will read 100 versions of the same story and if you can read a bunch of examples of what to do, you can do a better job on your version.

After that story, you should have a good feel for your writing style and be more practiced.

4. Tags

Use as many tags as possible! The more tags you use, the more times your story will pop up for others.

5. Summary

Make sure that your summary makes your plot obvious. Readers will usually search for a specific plot, (ex. Lams high school au) so make sure your summary makes it clear if that's what your storys about.

6. Rough Plan

You don't need to have a perfectly detailed plan of what's going to happen throughout your story, but you do need a rough plan. It doesn't need to be super detailed, just an idea.

For example, when I started writing my story Helpless, this was my plan: John would meet Alex who's selectively mute, angst galore with a bit of fluff, and then Alex would speak at their wedding.

7. Mood

Don't try to update your story if you're not in a good writing mood, even if you haven't updated in a while. You want your chapters to sound fluid and engaging, not bland, and rushed, which is what might happen if you write when uninspired.

8. Storytelling

This might sound stupid, but if you plan your chapters out loud before you write them, they'll usually be easier to write. Try this before you go to sleep or storytell to your pets! Make sure your detailed and not to brief when you plan it.

Keep in mind though, the way you READ your chapters might not be the way you WRITE your chapters. However, if you can keep track of what's happening when you story tell, your readers should be able to keep track of what's happening when they read your story.

9. Grammarly

I personally am far too lazy to actually edit my chapters, so I downloaded the Grammarly app on my phone. (it's also an extension on computers) When I'm done writing, It scans my chapter and gives me a bunch of suggestions. Then I choose which mistakes I need to fix and which ones I made on purpose.

Keep in mind, it won't catch everything, however, It does far better than I ever could.

10. Advertise

Some people mind find you annoying for this, but if you advertise your stories, your way more likely to get reads. I've taken to advertising my books in the comment sections of fanart on Pinterest and it's worked wonders for me.

11. Interact

Interact with your most active readers! Give them shoutouts and check out their stories. Maybe even follow them. I've taken to doing a Question Of The Day at the end of each of my chapters and on my Message Board! Do Q&A's!
