Welcome writers to the results of our first writing contest!
We recieved many very well written entries and we loved reading them but there can only be one winner, so with only a little more delay let's announce the winner(s)!

The theme for the contest was: Character Death

The goal of this contest was to write the thoughts/reactions of a character witnessing another characters death.

You all did an amazing job on your entries and I'll admit that several of them made me tear up which is VERY hard to do by the way.

And before I announce the winners let me clarify that when we judge an entry we look for the following:

1. Originality

2. A Good Plot

3. Emotion

4. Believable Characters

5. Grammar and spelling. This one's not a big deal and seeing one or two spelling mistakes in your story isn't going to decide whether or not we like it.

6. It captures the theme of the contest.

Now I've rambled on long enough, let's get to the winners shall we?

This LOTR fanfic shows the thoughts of Legolas after all his mortal friends from the Fellowship pass away.

(Sorry I stink at writing summaries)

This story was well written and the writer did an excellent job of capturing the character's thoughts and emotions.

And their story, Just Smile

This is another LOTR fanfic based off of the author's own LOTR fanfic (which I think is really clever by the way, why not write fanfics based off of other fanfics?)

Anywho, this particular entry focuses on the thoughts of Legolas as he is forced to watch a very close friend and brother die. His brother's last words to him are, "Just Smile."
Which causes much confusion to Legolas who tries to comprehend why he would ask such a thing.

This story was very well written and thank goodness this did not happen in the actual fanfic.

And their story, Goodbye Father

In this LOTR fic Legolas' closest friends and family grieve as he passes away after being stabbed by a strange blade that prevents the wound from ever healing. Before Legolas dies Aragorn, Gimli, Glorfindel, Elrond, Thranduil, and his wife say their goodbyes.

I will be honest when I say that this fic hit me in the Feelz very hard. The writing was great, the characters were all in character, the plot is very original and leaves the reader wanting more.

And also revenge, if you want to know what I mean go ahead and check this story out.
