This is an issue that I come across quite frequently here on Wattpad. What I see is people advertising their stories on stories that they're reading or on the profiles of other people (sometimes I'm not even sure if the people are reading the story or if they just go in to post their advert).

Well, I just want to say this now... It's considered rude. 

The author took a lot of time and effort into making their story, and for someone to post a "hey, check out my story __________ please!" is really quite rude. Same goes for advertising on the wall of other writers. Using their fan base isn't the way to go. 

If you want to go about things the right way then try this. 

-- Don't advertise on the page of other writers

-- Don't advertise in others' stories

-- Only approach those you really know (get to know people by talking to them. Not by advertising yourself to them.

Wattpad is seen as a great platform for you to build up an audience, but you're not going to do that by making authors mad. And I'm telling you right now, the majority of people don't feel the need to go searching for a story just because someone put the title in the comments. 

That requires too much effort. They would have to click on you, then search for the story, then read the description and see if it's worth their time. You're not going to get many new readers that way, and it's a good way to get people pissed off at you.
