The best part writing a story is creating a character. But here some questions to ask yourself.

1. Is my character a male or a female?

2. What does he/she look like?

3. When is their birthday?

4. Where do they come from?

5. What language do they speak?

6. What nationality are they?

7. How old are they?

8. What is their backstory?

9. What are their likes/dislikes?

10. Who are their parents?

11. Who are their friends?

12. What school do they attend?

13. Are they in a relationship?

14. Have they done something they totally regret?

These are the questions you should be asking, before you make up your character. What makes them tick? It's all about making your characters flesh and blood, and making them believable for your readers. It's also important to not make them too perfect. Give them flaws. Does your character forget to turn off the lights? Does he always interrupt people? Does she always forget to tie her shoes? Anything, that will make your characters stand out.
