Ah the plot.  A pretty important part of the story. It's the what happens when part. 

There is the main plot. There may be sub plots.  There should be a complication to overcome.  How they get or get rid of something is your story.  Its the why.

Edward Morgan Forester put it this way:

"The king died and then the queen died" is a story. "The king died and then the queen died of grief" is a plot.

Peak your readers curiosity by raising question they want answered, create situations they want to understand, surprise them with twists and turns. Every character in your story has a reason for being there.

End your story at a natural ending point - when the complication is resolved.
