Don't worry. This piece of advice doesn't mean a literally mighty theme like Mr. Melville chose for Moby Dick. That's a larger than life book. And many people who read it - or more so don't read it - think it is about chasing a big whale.
Moby Dick is so much more. It is about life, humanity, want, need, desire, envy, jealousy, love, hate - you know all the feels. All mighty themes indeed. All themes that cross generations, genres and gender.
Including a mighty theme will help your story connect with your readers. Adding a level of emotion lets your readers see themselves in your characters. Or totally disagree with your characters.
What mighty theme does your tale draw on?
