We are all storytellers.  When you call customer service at your bank because you have a problem - you tell them the story of your issue.

But in our writing, we don't want to just relay facts.  We want to create emotion.  

If you don't feel something as you write, your readers won't either. If you don't feel discomfort as your main characters break up or hurt someone or lose their way, how can your readers  be expected to connect with them?
