Now, Mr. Bradbury doesn't mean you literally have to be drunk - as in consuming alcohol.
What he might be referring to is staying in the moment. Immersing yourself in your writing, in your story, in your characters. Living in the world you've created as long as possible.
Resist letting reality in. Because reality is the Antidote of storytelling. That doesn't mean your story can't be based in reality. It simply means that real life sometimes gets in the way.
Generally, at some point you might need to eat. Go to work. Go to school. Go to sleep. All of these very real things can impede you sitting down and writing.
So you have to find ways to stay in the moment. Maybe it's writing at the same time every day. Maybe it's writing in your favourite notebook or favourite spot. Maybe it's listening to the playlist you created for your current work.
Music works for me. I have three different writing playlist each one depending on the mood I want to create. One is happy, one is sappy and one is ....dramatic. (If you've read any of my stories you know I listen to this one a lot.)
How do you stay drunk on your writing?
