Is this about writing habits or writing style?

In my opinion Mr. Wilde is referring to style, plot and character. 

If your style stays the same, if you write in only dialogue or long paragraphs of prose or run on sentences, how are we readers to understand the motivation behind your story. Why do we care?

If the plot stays the same, if there isn't some drama or conundrum to overcome, how are we as readers to stay engaged? Why do we care?

If your characters stay the same throughout your tale, if they don't grow or change or discover something new, how are we as the readers to connect with them?  Why do we care?
