The Haters that Never Explain Themselves
I always knew that there will always be more than one hater to your book.
I've hating on MANY books myself.
But you see, when I hate on a book, I have a LONG list of reasons why I hate it.
I hate when someone says, "I hate your book," and never explains themselves. And if you ask them "Why do you hate it?" They'll just go, "I just do."
Look, I get it, we all have different opinions on everything. Some books just aren't your vibe naturally.
But the "Things that aren't your vice naturally" is usually because of the writing style. So, if you were to TELL me that you hate it "It's not really my vibe." I would understand.
But if you tell me, "I just do." THAT DON'T TELL ME NOTHING. When you're a published author, I can understand why you wouldn't care for the actual REASONS why a person hates your book. But when you're an aspiring author who wants to do everything in their power to make their book GOOD, then it does matter.
I just hate it when people come around insult your book--wait, wrong phrasing. AN ACTUAL INSULT WOULD BE BETTER than the just "I hate your book with all my heart, don't ask me why, because I'll never tell you the answer. All I can tell you is that I'll never associate myself with you again because you wrote that."
I am NOT a (too) sensitive person when it comes to my book, if you were to tell me, "I hate your characters. They suck because Willow always seems to be asking questions and she's really repetitive. And Michael is too unrealistic." Then, I would be JUST FINE. I would sit at my computer and backspace all the questions Willow asks and then make Michael a little more flawed and . less "perfect."
It's that simple.
So, my fellow friends, please, when you go hating on a book, please have a list ready of why. It'll really help the writer out, trust me.
Comment if anyone has ever told you your book sucked but never gave you a reason why.
