Mask
. . .
Everyday,
I walk to the beach.
Everyday,
My eyes search for you,
And only you.
Everyday I come,
You're always sitting on the sand,
Staring at ocean.
You look at me,
And I pretend to be looking for someone,
Just so you wouldn't know I was staring at you.
I wear a mask,
Because I can't let you see the broken me.
But it was you,
who was shattered.
Without even realizing,
Every moment I saw you,
I began healing.
You started to make me feel whole again,
You made me feel complete.
Yet,
The distance between us prevented me from being happy.
You didn't utter a word,
Nor did I.
And it seemed,
As if the distance grew bigger each time,
As if something was separating us.
One day,
You built a castle.
The next day,
You placed a mask next to it.
Then,
The next day,
You weren't there.
I walked closer,
To the castle and mask that was still there.
And then,
I realized,
The mask was broken,
And half of the castle had fallen.
It was then,
That I spot the trail of blood,
Leading to a bush.
It was then,
That I see your lifeless body,
A painful smile was plastered on your face,
Your eyes closed,
As your wrist was marked with dry blood.
