My eyes turned black, and my voice deepened when I leaned into her. "Is that a challenge?"

The whore's eyes widened, knowing she made a huge mistake. She scrambled to her feet and ran, which was another mistake. I shifted into Shadow and ran after her. My paws hit the ground with a thunderous sound as the bitch darted into the woods, making Shadow chase her stupid ass. She forgets I have alpha blood and becomes our prey.

Shadow caught her. Her eyes widened as a scream ripped from her lips. Shadow locked his jaws around her neck and tore it out before pulling her apart. We heard thunderous footsteps heading toward us before Shadow lifted his head with blood dripping from his mouth and covering his light gray fur.

Cress shifted before me. "Shift!"

I shifted into my human form and wiped the blood from my mouth.

"Go home and shower. We'll take care of this mess. I'll meet you when I finish."

I gave Cress a chin lift, turned, and shifted into Shadow. Shadow ran to the house but veered from his path and headed for Wren's house. When he reached it, he ran up the stairs and slammed against the front door until he broke it. We heard footsteps coming from upstairs until they hit the steps and stopped. We saw Wren standing on the steps, looking at us.

The loud crash alerted me to someone breaking into the house. I ran from the bedroom and stopped on the steps when I spotted a massive grey wolf standing in my foyer. Shadow.

Shadow sat on his hind legs and whined. I descended the stairs and approached him. Blood was all over his mouth and fur. He whined and whimpered while shifting on his front paws.

"Go upstairs to the bathroom and shower," I said softly.

Shadow stood up, trotted past me upstairs, and headed to the bathroom. I heard the bathroom door shut and the shower turn on. I grabbed a pair of Hawk's sweats he had left here when he visited me. I grabbed a clean towel, opened the bathroom door, and set both on the counter before closing the door.

I headed downstairs to assess the damage. While I cleaned up the mess, the shower had turned off.

Ace emerged a few minutes later, dressed in sweatpants with damp hair. "Sorry about the mess. I'll take care of it tomorrow." He helped me clean up the mess.

"What happened?"

"I went home for a few hours and showered. I was on my way back when the whore I had fucked that day showed up at my door."

I stared at Ace, wanting to throw a piece of broken door at him.

"I told her to beat it. She decided to challenge me before running."

My brows lifted in surprise. "Wait. This bitch challenged you, knowing you're an alpha."

Ace nodded. "Shadow took it as hunting prey. We captured her and ripped out her throat before tearing her apart."

"I wish I could say I feel bad for the bitch, but I don't. Why did you tell me?"

"I want to be honest with you, Wren. I hurt you from my prior actions. You deserve the truth from me."

We heard footsteps and saw Cress with Blaze and Gallic.

"Gallic, have a few prospects bring a front door to Wren's place," Cress said.

Gallic nodded before leaving to get me a new front door. Blaze took over cleaning duties while Cress talked to Ace while I was in attendance.

"What happened?" Cress asked.

Ace recounted the same story to Cress that he had told me. Cress assessed his story to check for any holes. He didn't find any.

"Cress, I swear I didn't seek out the whore. I don't even know how she got onto the territory and found my house," Ace said.

"I'll check the cameras and talk to whoever was on watch. But that's on the bitch if she challenged you."

Ace nodded in understanding.

"I need to figure out the leak. Prospects will replace the front door." Cress left with Blaze, leaving Ace and me alone.

"I guess you can teach a wolf new tricks," I smirked.

Ace shook his head and chuckled before tugging me to him and shoving his nose in the crook of my neck to calm himself. A mate will calm an alpha faster than anyone. It's why Shadow came to my house. He and Ace needed the calming effect that only I could provide.
