Emily awoke slowly; her eyes were straining against her will to stay awake. She felt her body was lifeless, gravity was pulling on it sure, but she could barely move. The best that she could do was move her head. She noticed that her helmet was off and she was only in her body glove. She looked to her right and left; her hands were bound in cuffs and chains that ascended well into the ceiling of the room. The room was lit only by several orange and green glowing crystals around her, the rest of it was dark as night an abyss that she dared not stare into for long. She pulled and swung against the heavy chains to try to get them off, but they wouldn't budge.

She looked ahead and saw a set of three glowing eyes appear in the darkness before her. The eyes were a bit higher up than she was and a titan of a figure stepped forward from the darkness. The beast was at least two stories in height. His skull was red with it being surrounded by a black helm of chitinous plating. The helm itself had two flat horns that stuck out from the side by about a meter each and looked like they could slice a human in half. She noticed how unlike the Hive knights she had fought previously the monster had wings. Under the armor, she saw that his skin was a reddish hue and the armor was cut into with holes and slits.

The goliath walked over to her, and she could feel herself shake in her glove. For one of the first times in her career as a guardian, she feared for her life. Water poured out of the corners of her eyes as he stopped and lowered his face so that she was directly in front of him. "He's going to eat me...." She sobbed in her head. "WHO ARE YOU!" She shouted to him. He stood up for a moment.

"I am Oryx. King of the Hive." He thundered. The room shook with his voice as if the whole chamber obeyed his command.

"Oryx....where am I? I want to go home!" She cried.

"You will go where I tell you to go soon enough. You are on my ship, the Dreadnought." He replied darkly. He moved his hand to her body. Her eyes widened as his hand reached toward her. It looked like it could pick up a small car and crush it into a pebble. It could turn her to mush. She looked at his shoulder and saw the same energy from before creep and trickle down his arm to his hand. Emily's eyes felt as if they could burst into tears and fear. She knew what came next.

"Your little light will not protect you from me." He threatened.

"L-little light? What are you....no....no please don't hurt her! Take me! Paralyze me! Kill me! Just don't hurt Octavia!" She pleaded to the colossus. Emily watched as Oryx pried the ghost out of her body. She could feel her spine want to bend back at the burning sensation in her stomach as Octavia's form started appearing out of her body. Highlights of her edges started apparating first. The ghost pulled against the force Oryx was placing on her with all her will yet she was forced out of Emily.

"NO! NONONONONONONO!" Emily shouted as Oryx grasped her in the palm of his hands. Octavia couldn't fly, the ship's chamber was full of darkness. Oryx placed the small Ghost on the ground and watched it futilely bob around roll against its geometric form. He raised his knee and foot above the Ghost's shell and slammed it into the floor above it. Emily could hear the metal crunch and crack under the goliath's foot.

"Now...I may begin my revenge." He thundered lifting his foot off the Ghost's shell.

"Revenge for what?!" Emily cried.

"The death of my son, Crota." He said wrapping his hand around her torso. His grip was tight and firm as the chains released from her body.

"The person who killed him is dead! You missed that train you jackass!" She screamed through her tears.

"We shall see." He said placing his index finger on the top of her white head of hair. Emily squirmed and strained against his grip. Oryx began looking through her memories, there had to have been something to signal the fate of his son's murderer. Most of the memories he'd seen were black with audio in the background. Emily felt her temple's throb; it was as if her head was going to burst. Then, right before he could start seeing what she could, he heard two voices.

"Mommy, what happened to Grandpa?"

"He saved the world baby girl, he saved the world, he killed Crota...but lost his own life." He heard a sniffle and weeping.

"Don't cry Mommy..don't cry." He heard the little voice say.

He sneered at this; he heard the voice of his daughter, not the killer himself. But, he knew that he was on the right track. Oryx continued searching until finally, he found exactly what he was looking for.

"Charon?! You're alive!" He heard a male voice shout.

"Yeah, I'm back." He said with a chuckle. "It's good to see you again James," Oryx took his hand off Emily, and she started hyperventilating.

"W-W-What did you do?" She asked with tears pouring out of her eyes and dripping onto Oryx's other hand.

"I gathered my evidence....you lied to me."

"No....."

"DO NOT LIE TO YOUR KING!" Oryx shouted tossing her across the room skidding across the floor. Emily tried to get up but fell down to her feet. There was nowhere to go. Nowhere to run. She was a literal fish in a barrel. Oryx's arm started glowing again as he slowly stepped toward Emily as she tried to scramble away. Emily lifted up off the ground, and she experienced the most excruciating pain she'd ever felt. It was as if her limbs were being turned inside out and pulled off of her. She screamed so loud glass would shatter if it were in the room with her.

Emily looked at her captor, his yellow teeth flashed as she screamed, he was enjoying her misery as she was being killed. She looked down at her legs in abject horror as they started turning into a pure white, her body glove was being torn to pieces as she began to change and turn into something horrific. She could no longer control her legs. Her bare skin was a glowing white rather than its usual pale blue, and the same thing started happening to her arms. They were turning black and turning sharp like the talons of a falcon.

"You are a hunter."

"No! Let me go!' She screamed, pleading for her life.

"Stealthy, quiet and faithful to your tracking senses."

"NO, I BEG OF YOU!" She shouted as she started to twitch with her stomach being exposed to the cold air of the ship.

"Considering yourselves invaluable, but dying so often to your own curiosity."

"NO! MMHMMSMP!" She said as the energy encompassed her mouth and crept up into her eyes, going behind the balls themselves through the socket. She shook her head back and forth as she moved her arms up to her temples and bashed her head against the floor. She let out a final muffled roar as the energy fully encompassed her head and her hair changed from a white to a black with a white hue. She stood up, silently.

"Ease your senses, you need not be expendable; I can see you, child."

The girl walked forward, shambling, twitching in unnatural and unnerving ways. Her wrists and ankles twisting with each step.

"What keeps you hunting? What makes you believe you are above all?" He asked as he moved his hand to pet the head of the Exhuman. With that gentle stroke, the soul of the original vessel was ejected into the void, all that remained was the empty shell before him. "You wish to show the warlocks who truly find knowledge. To be higher in favor for the Titans whom you hold high. But you fall too quickly to your own pride. You are fragile. You are incapable of surviving the fire and flame." He said as the Taken Guardian stood still at his touch.

"You must be strong." He said as a set of armor appeared in front of her floating in the air. Heavier, more plated yet having the same aesthetic to hunter armor but black and white like her skin, including a tattered cloak like Dregen Yor's. "There is a knife for you; it is shaped like, I will be strong. Take up the knife. Break down their walls."

The guardian took her armor, and it phased onto her body. The eye visors blared to life in a glow of white light, and a black bow appeared on her back with a quiver of arrows.

"Take your new shape."

David and Kronah arrived with William at the Tower hangar. Kronah was carrying Will in her arms as they somberly walked out of the ship. The commanding group of guardians ran into the hangar from the Hall of Guardians as the ship pulled in. Nova's eyes were wide at the sight.

"David, Mom....W-where's Emily?" Nova asked with her voice growing shakier. Kronah handed Will over to Charon before looking at her daughter.

"She...she...she's gone," Kronah said to Nova honestly, and her voice was hoarse. Nova's face started turning red, and water trickled out of her eyes.

"Gone...what do you mean gone?" She squeaked.

"She went missing...Dregen Yor took her." David replied to his sister. Nova's invictus form activated and she ran toward the edge of the hangar. James caught her by the foot before she could get moving any further.

"Nova relax, we'll get her back. But we can't go in there without a plan first. We don't know anything about the ship yet." He said calmly.

"Relax? RELAX?!" She shouted before landing on the ground. "Listen to me you glitch of an Exo! The longer we wait she could get killed! And you want me? Her mother to wait?! Especially considering that you wouldn't hesitate to go save your son!" She cried in front of him.

"Nova you need to clear your head,"

"NO! I NEED TO SAVE MY KID!" She said heading toward the hangar. James put his arm on her shoulder and held her back. She turned around with a forceful gesture, and the hangar gasped in shock. James' eyes went wide, and fish eyed as he tried to respond to what had just happened. He looked down and saw the hilt of a sword and looked over his shoulder. The blade was through his back. A glowing blue liquid started leaking out of his chest and dripping onto the floor. Time had stopped for James. There was no noise, no movement. Nova moved back for a few steps letting go of the hilt of the sword.

James looked down at his chest. The blade went through his stomach. The pain from it was massive. But not as immense as the hole in his heart. He pulled the sword out of his chest slowly. The blade was shiny and tempered. Now it was coated in blood. His blood. He could feel tears welling up in his eyes. "I......made this.....for you...." He cried. "I made it...as a wedding gift...to show you....how much I loved you...." He said gripping around the hilt of the blade with his grip only growing tighter. "Now....I see...now that you have your real Dad back NOTHING I DID FOR YOU EVER MATTERED!" He said as the blade started to crack and break under the pressure of his grip.

"I made your wedding ring. I gave you a sparrow. I poured my heart and soul into every meal I made for you! And this is what I get for all those things that I did for you! A hole through my chest?! I wanted to keep you safe! Like any good father would have. I get it! I don't matter to you! Then I guess you wouldn't care if this broke would you?!" He screamed as the sword blade snapped in two.

Nova looked at him regretfully. "D-dad...I...I'm sorry...I.."

"No...I was only just James to you." He said throwing the blade at the ground. James activated his Invictus form and took off out of the hangar. Everyone in the room watched as he flew away. David looked at Nova and shook his head before walking off back to their apartment. The other's looked at her ashamed of what she had done, exiting the room with David. All who were left was Will, Charon, Kronah, and Cameron. Charon's eyes locked with Nova's, with an inferno blazing inside them.

"Nova...what the heck was that?!" Charon exclaimed.

"Dad, I,"

"But nothing! You stabbed him through the chest! With a sword, he built for you!" Charon exclaimed. He set Will on the ground for a moment so he could cross his arms. "He took care of you for fifteen years while we were gone, and I'd like to add that he did a fine job at it. Need I remind you of how you became a guardian in the first place?"

"Why are you against me on this?!" Nova cried. "I just want my baby girl back! Is that too much to ask?!"

"I'm against this because of what you did! That was inexcusable! Would you have stabbed me? Or your Mom if we were doing the same thing?" He exclaimed. Cameron walked over and picked up Will to bring to the infirmary to recover. She glanced out the hangar for a moment before walking up the stairs. Nova shied her head away from them.

"Nova, that wasn't a rhetorical question. Would you have done the same thing?"

"N-no..." She replied sheepishly.

"Exactly, now go home....you need to think about what you did," Charon sneered. Nova picked up the sword parts and sprinted back home with tears in her eyes. Charon sighed looking at the puddle of Exo coolant on the ground and back up to the hangar exit. Kronah walked over to him and lay her head on his shoulder hugging him. He could hear her weeping on his shoulder.

"Kronah, what's wrong?" He sympathized.

"It was my job to watch the kids Charon...it's my fault she's missing. I can't take that back...I feel miserable...I can't even begin to describe it." She said with tears going out of her face like a fire hose making his shoulder armor wet. Charon wrapped his arms around her back and pulled her close to him.

"It will be okay...we'll get her back...I promise." He replied looking out over at the horizon. Cameron walked back into the hangar to see the two of them. She ignored them for a moment and headed out of the hangar bay, flying in the sky using her Invictus form looking for her husband. "But we need all the help that we can get. "
