Aaron's energy started to fade away; he couldn't keep up the sustained fire for much longer. Otherwise, he'd die. He started slowing down as Oryx drew closer and the aura of Invictus faded away. Aaron fell to the ground, exhausted, his light reserves were nearly depleted. He could hear Oryx's breathing as he lay there. Oryx raised his sword over his head as he prepared to end Aaron forever, then a large void blade interrupted his swing as the blade came down. Oryx looked to the left to see the Warlock standing there.

"You have no quarrel with him Oryx." James thundered.

"I have a quarrel with all guardians. Especially you." He glared before focusing all his efforts on him. Oryx raised his sword, and his wings started to flap, and he took off into the air with James following shortly after him with his arm blade still extended.

"Your son was a threat to our planet; you expect me to stand by and let my planet fall?" He asked as the two rushed forward and clashed their blades.

"All was going according to my plan guardian, even if you kill me, you only delay the death of the universe." He said pressing his blade further into James' before kicking the Exo down to the ground below. James crashed into the chitin floor and slowly got up to his feet. Oryx landed in front of the staggered guardian and raised him up into the air, gripping tightly around James' abdomen. He could start to feel the powers of Invictus flowing out of him, and something else took its place. Pain. A deep burning pain. Oryx was crushing him, or at least trying to.

Cameron got up and gasped at her husband's plight and flew toward Oryx and landed a massive punch to his kidney region. Oryx hollered out and relinquished his grip on the Exo causing him to fall to the ground. The monster glared into the blue eyes of Cameron with what could only be described as pure malice. She could feel the darkness of his soul starting to penetrate her own. James stood up and flew over to Cameron as Oryx stood before them.

"Enough...I have toyed with you for far too long." He said as a strange energy started forming in the hands of the king. James and Cameron looked at each other and gave each other a nod almost as if this was something they'd anticipated. Aaron looked up from the floor at his two friends as they stood next to each other. More lightning began to fly through the air around Cameron, and more void energy circled his Exo friend. Both of them stretched their hands out forward, that's where Aaron could see the focal point of the energy that they were conjuring; it was in Cameron's left hand and James' right hands. Then as Oryx fired a blast of dark energy the two of them fired their own beams of pure light, Camerons came out like a massive flowing bolt of electricity and James' was a large beam just like Oryx's own. That was when Aaron remembered what they would do with each other when they would train: team attacks.

They practiced for hours upon end with their invictus transformations, trying to figure out how to use their powers to the greatest extent that they could. This was their strongest attack. Then in one motion of their hands a storm of lightning and a beam of void energy fired forward; fusing together and doubling the strike power of the other. Oryx collapsed his hands together, and a torrent of dark power came barrelling toward them. Aaron watched as the two of them stood together firing the laser into the darkness, attempting to pierce the veil of shadows that blanketed in front of the King. Aaron attempted to stand, just so that he could help them beat him back. Using the last of his energy, he activated his form; he estimated that with all the light that he had, he could pour all of that energy into one final attack.

Aaron took a deep breath and unleashed the blast of solar flame toward the wall of darkness. The blast took almost all the light he had left and caused him to fall to the ground and pass out. However, that was all the power that the group needed. The dark energy was pushed back with tremendous force toward Oryx as the two remaining beams of energy collided with one another, wrapping the lighting around the void beam as it finally pierced through and impacted the chitin chest of their enemy. Oryx could feel nothing but a terrible writhing pain as the energy blast buried in his chest, digging like a tick into his flesh.

Then as he was mustering up the energy to block it, the energy pierced right through his abdomen out through to the other side. The entirety of his chest felt empty as he was sent back, causing him to fall back and down to his knees. Oryx knew that there was only one way for him to survive an injury that was as critical as this one; he would have to take himself back to the throne world to recover. He stretched out his hand toward his sword and began drawing a flow of taken energy from it toward his arm. He pulled it toward his chest and started to laugh as the two guardians left standing deactivated their Invictus forms. Then the Taken King collapsed in on himself, disappearing into nothing as the sword crumbled and broke down.

James and Cameron ran over toward Aaron and lifted him up off the ground putting their friend over their shoulders and lifted him up. Aaron slowly blinked his eyes as they raised him up and Cameron pulled up the Comms. "Charon, we got Oryx, he's returning to the throne world now." She said with a stern tone.

"Rodger, is everyone okay?"

"We're good, but Aaron got a little trigger happy with his new powers. He's out like a light; we're gonna send him up to the ship to recover." Cameron replied. After that comment, Aaron looked up at his friends who were carrying him out of the chamber.

".....did we get him?" He asked, his voice was just barely above a whisper.

"We got him, buddy," Cameron replied.

"And thanks to you I might add," James replied.

"...I helped?" Aaron asked looking up to the left at James.

"You're the reason why got him, Aaron." He replied. "I'm proud of you."

"....thank you..." He said with a slight smile on his face before he could feel his eyes starting to grow heavy and he was drifting in and out of consciousness.

"Get some rest Aaron," Cameron said as they transmatted him up to the ship. She then looked at James for a moment. He seemed uneasy.

"James...are you alright?" She asked him briefly. James didn't reply; it was that same vision that he'd seen earlier. The one of that flash of light, and him being gripped by that Cabal commander. If that was what his destiny was, then he didn't know if he was ready for that yet. He didn't want to die. He didn't want to leave his family behind. He sighed to himself before looking at Cameron.

"Cameron...you know I love you right?" He asked.

"Of course I do. Why?"

"I just wanted you to know." He said before walking toward the door and to the portal that the others were at. Now he and his family finally had the chance to end this Taken War forever, but the cost of this victory would be something that he couldn't bear if his vision was true.
