In a star system several light years away from our own in orbit around the planet Tydir, all had been peaceful for the Tydirians. Until one day, where their sky went dark in the middle of the day. From on the ground of the world, one of the humanoid Tydirians looked up to the sky to see a massive ship around their orbit. The square in the middle of their grandest city was about to become ground zero for the end of their world. They had fought off invaders before, but nothing like this. The ship was the size of their largest moon, possibly larger.
Upon the vessel, one of the lead officers of the ship arrived to speak with his commander. "My liege, we have come to the star system." The Hive Knight said to his king. The King towered over the knight, with his wings stowed and his blade staked into the ground. His armor was forged from worm silk, made from the caul of gods. His head had two crests upon it that extended several meters across. His skin was red and black in many areas; the color faded from battle and age.
He had come to the birthing chamber to see the greatest gift that this universe had blessed him with; an heir that he could call his own. He stroked the head of his newborn son, a small larva, had been gifted to him by the mother who bore his child. "I found a mother to make spawn...." He said stroking his hand around the side of the child's face. "One of those spawn was you. Your life will be a battle too. You will have to win your place at the High War. I will give you nothing... except this, your first sword, and this name I have prepared for you. We fight a war against false hope, Crota." He said to his child before turning to face his commander. "For what purpose have you come to my sanctum?"
"We have approached the star system, my king." He said not looking up towards his master, keeping his head bowed and his stature on one knee.
"You may rise." He said to the knight. "What is the status of the invasion?"
"We have sent our initial fleet of tomb ships my Lord; they shall be touching down in a few seconds." The knight said as Oryx approached the balcony close to them. "They appear to have had the false idol's blessing for longer than we could anticipate, their weaponry is stronger than anything we have come across before."
Oryx turned back to face his commander and took out his sword slicing an area in front of him, creating a dimensional rift for him to pass through. Oryx appeared in the town square beside two of the ogres that his army had created. He sniffed the air for a moment and let out a shy smile. The scent of death and ruin was an intoxicating aroma to the monarch. He walked down the streets of the now destroyed city as more of his tomb ships came in from the skies above. Seeders descended from the assault ships just above them.
A tank of the invaded world arrived at the scene of their arrival and fired a shell at one of the ogres that were beside Oryx. The monarch starred down the vehicle. The tank was white and sleek, having four pads to both sides of it keeping off the ground by about half a meter. The cannon of the mechanical behemoth had a streak of black through it. The gun pointed towards him, and the sides of the weapon started to glow. Oryx stormed towards the vehicle unafraid of the gun that the tank used. The tank fired at Oryx impacting him square in the chest. The explosion cleared and Oryx walked towards the vehicle with hardly even a scratch on him. The monarch took his sword in his hand and crashed the blade through the top of the vehicle. He reveled in the screams of the soldiers as he twisted the blade tearing through the vehicle.
It was rare for him to participate in the invading assaults, but he loved the opportunity to do so whenever he could. Oryx could feel a smile form on his face as he continued walking down the destroyed city streets. Watching as more and more of the Tydirians were killed by his soldiers. Oryx closed his eyes and smiled before returning to his reality. His hand left the grip around the vision crystal he had in his personal library. His son was the most precious thing to him, and the last thing that they ever did was fight. He never got the chance to tell his son that he loved him.
Oryx took the crystal and threw it at the wall of the chamber out of anger as a single tear fell down his face. In the hundred thousand years of his existence, he had not felt so angry and riddled with guilt. He looked at the door as it opened to see his two daughters float in to comfort him.
"Father, please, it will be alright once we arrive at the system who took our brother away. We will spill the blood of all who stand in our way." Ir Halak said to her father looking to her identical twin standing by his side. Their family had seen much internal competition for their father's love. However, it was a contest that their brother had lost because they had tricked him. In spite of all of what they had done to him, Crota still cared deeply for his family and friends. A trait that many saw as a weakness and insincere. But what broke him was when his father was disappointed in him to the point where he would exile him from the dreadnought with his own army.
Crota swore that when he returned he would make his father proud. His ambition lead him to conquests across the stars, and with each world, he conquered he looked toward his father's ship. Hoping that there would be one day that he would be allowed to return to Oryx. To his dismay, it was never enough for his father. Upset and feeling betrayed, Crota's ambition only grew, and arrogance soon followed suit. He sought to give his father the greatest gift of all, to destroy the false idol that decimated their home world. It was to be his greatest conquest of all, and perhaps that would allow him to return home.
Oryx watched his son's newest conquest with absolute dedication, eager to see his son's success. However, it didn't turn out that way. Crota died from a fireteam of six individual guardians of the planet Earth. He didn't see the end of that fight, during that time his ship was being attacked by another army, more than just a simple endeavor for him. However, when he returned, his servant Dregen Yor arrived to bear the news of his son's death.
"I will slaughter them like the countless other worlds...especially those who killed my son." He said walking toward the observation deck. "My dearest Crota, I will have my revenge, and I will spill their blood in your name, I swear upon the divines and the deep, I will end them all."
