Chapter 1: Deities

Deity

A God or Goddess

Divine character or nature, especially that of the Surpreme Being; Divinity

The estate or rank of a god

A person or thing revered as a god or goddess

The Deity, God; Supreme Being

Primordial

Constituting a beginning; giving origin to something derived or developed; original; elementary

Pertaining to or existing at or from the very beginning

Being

The fact of existing; existence (as opposed to nonexistence)

Conscious, mortal existence; life

Substance or nature

Something that exists

A living thing

Primordial Beings/Deities are things such as Nyx, Phobos, Deimos, Order, Chaos, and Nonexistence. They've been around since the beginning and all other things spawned from too much or too little of them.

Deities typically are powerful ideals that tie all living beings together, Destiny, Fate, Karma, Time, Space. They are the reason other beings exist, without them, you do not have a creature worth caring for.

Primordials are lesser deities, ironically, and they typically are Magic, Memories, Feelings, Love. These are things most everyone can agree is a universal part of living and as such, these primordials, while weaker than their fellows, are just as old as others like them.

Gods are the next lowest and they all tend to hail from ReaperTale. Reaper/Death, Tori/Life, so forth and so on. These gods can be killed and can have demi children.

Demi-gods are children born from a Deity + a human or a God + a human.

There is one other sect of powerful beings, but they don't have an easy distinction. The closest they could be compared to would be unwiling Apostles, but with all the powers of their god.

Creators and Destroyers in each multiverse of the OmniVerse fit this bill. They have enough power to be a God on their own, but their godlike status only arose due to a Deity controlling them.

Destiny: There are only three definitions that really matter.

The predetermined, usually inevitable or irresistible course of events

The power or agency that determines the course of events

This power personified or represented as a goddess.

Fate: Three definitions that matter.

The universal principle or ultimate agency by which the order of things is presumably prescribed; the decreed cause of events; time

That which is inevitably predetermined; destiny

Death, Destruction, or Ruin (I just found this a befitting definition given the circumstances.)

Karma: The cosmic principle according to which each person is rewarded or punished in one incarnation according to that person's deeds in the previous incarnation.

Time: Time encapsulates Past, Present, Future, Finite, and Infinite. As long as there is time to pass, Time guards over it. (This includes manipulation of time)

Space: The unlimited or incalculably great three-dimensional realm or expanse in which all material objects are located and all events occur. (This includes manipulation of space.)

Feelings: This Deity resides over all emotions, good or bad. Hence her two demi-god children Dream and Night represent two halves of her whole being. Feelings is never truly dead as long as her children live on.

Love: Love is the feeling between close people (parent and child, siblings, lovers). This emotion can change depending on the context of the person as well as the situation. Love can be a gentle warm glow or a raging forest fire, a cool stream on a hot day, or a bountiful harvest of animals, a gentle earth, calming and nurturing, or a vengeful earth, spewing fire and raining lightning. Love is a feeling that can be so very positive and yet so very negative. People change when they love each other, but unrequited love can easily shift to animosity or fullblown hatred. Love can sprout jealousy and fear, as well as joy and contentment.

Magic: Magic is the lifeblood of all monsters, and even some humans. Magic is in every breath one breaths, in every tree, animal, and elemental source (Fire, Water, Air, Earth). If you can name it, there is probably magic laying dormant within. Some, Monsters and humans, can see that magic in the world around or even manipulate it, while others are only capable of using their magic and absorbing more from the world passively.

Memories: Memories shape and define the experience and outlook of a being. Just as love is a double-edged sword, so too is memories. For every experience, both parties can get different things from the same event. Positive and negative, which build an image of self or others. Without memories, this knowledge would be lost to time.

Nyx/Night: The eternal darkness. The time of which dreams and nightmares are formed. The night was all there was in the beginning.

Phobos/Fear: This deity spreads fear and apprehension as their dayjob. They are the underlying cause of the fear, worry, and apprehension others can feel when in danger, pain, or threat of impending evil, even if this sense of danger is entirely unreal.

Deimos/Terror: An intense feeling of fear, or a sharper feeling of fear. This fear tends to overwhelm, and tends to make its home in anxiety and panic attacks, giving a more overwhelming sense of fear. If Fear is worry, Terror is blind anxiety.

Panos/Panic: A sudden overwhelming fear, with or without cause, that produces hysterical or irrational behavior, and often spreads quickly through a group of persons or animals. Fear = Worry, Terror = Anxiety, Panic = a Panic (lol) attack.

End/Void: The Void is the eternal final point of all life. It is empty and void (lol) of everything.

Order: Order is the "defacto" leader of the Higher Deities and represents balance and order and control.

Chaos: Chaos is an antagonist to Order, and represents imbalance, Chaos, and a lack of control.

Death/Reaper: Death is the most unknown of the Deities, yet it is inevitable for all living beings. The Reaper himself is not the cause of death, simply an apostle for and a vector through which Death interacts with all living things.

Life: Life is the existence of everything and yet is just as unknown as Death. Maybe think Life is a pure-hearted being, but forget that Life includes bad lives and bad moments of existence as well as good. Some live a life where they think death is better, so wouldn't that show that Life is not all good? Do not pretend Life is a divine being made of love. Life allows suffering to exist by existing in turn.

Destiny and Fate are many things. They are the determiners of other beings future paths. They guide and force those they control into a path, then force the victim to say it was a higher calling. They aren't alone. They tend to be surrounded by Karma, Time, Space, Feelings, Love, Magic, and Memories, but not always for good reasons. The Higher Deities, either for being primordial or for being more natural, rarely get involved in the squabbles of the omniverse.

Except for today. Because today, something exciting was happening.

The Higher Deities include Nyx (Night), Phobos (Fear), Deimos (Terror), End (Also known as Void), Order, and Chaos.

There is one other Higher Deity, but she rarely gets involved unless those six can't come up with a majority answer to solve the problems brought to them.

But today.

Today twin Deities Fate and Destiny come seeking help with their joint multiverse. The Balance is askew with only a Creator, and the multiverse is soon to be destroyed.

Karma, Space, and Magic are insisting the Higher Deities allow the twins to take a skeleton from another multiverse and push him to be the balancer to the Creator, a Destroyer if you will.

The Higher Deities vote 5-to-1 to grant the twins a new destroyer. All the Deities work to find a person, eventually stumbling upon Time's multiverse.

(1262 words.

I know this reads like an exposition info dump of meaningless information, but it all adds up in the end.

Some of the information here is foreshadowing stuff to come, so if you're interested, there is that to try and gleen from. ^_^

Happy Reading.
