Grayson's Room
Linc marched to Grayson's room and knocked. He never knocked.
"Yes?" Grayson was here.
Linc couldn't move. He just stood there. Rachel thought maybe he was gay? No, he wasn't gay? No way. He had been out with women and enjoyed their company. Right? Yes. See, not gay. The door flew open and a very annoyed Grayson was there. Linc jumped.
"Linc?" Grayson wasn't expecting to see him. "Are you okay?"
Linc was still focused on nothing. "Sure." He cleared his throat. "Rachel said I hurt you and I should come apologize." He sighed.
"Do you want to come in?" Grayson moved to let Linc in.
Linc had been in Grayson's room a number of times. This time he was nervous. What was his damage? He sat on the bed and then stood up. He had no idea what to do. He crossed his arms and uncrossed them. "Uh, I'm sorry." He crossed them. That felt better.
Grayson watched Linc being really uncomfortable. "Okay. Can we please move past this? Please? I'm sorry I said anything. Okay? I just want to fight with you. Vampires only."
Linc nodded but didn't smile. "Okay. I finished my report on the last hunt. I just sent the report." Linc's whole body was stiff. He was not okay.
Grayson nodded. "Good, then John won't hound us!" He smiled and sat on the bed. "Are you okay?"
Linc shook his head. "No. It's nothing to do with you, Rachel just said some things before I came here. I'm just a little confused and freaking out."
Grayson watched Linc. "Did she start shit with you? I told her that you were free to feel how you feel. It doesn't make a difference to me, Linc. I didn't want things to change, I was just sick of lying to you."
Linc nodded. "Cool. I'm sorry I am being an ass. I will make a better effort. Okay?"
"I just want you to be normal. Well, our normal. Okay. Take all the time you need." Grayson smiled and stood up. He was close to Linc.
Linc nodded. "Okay. Later." He rushed from the room. He ran to his room and closed the door. He laid on his bed and just tried to breathe. What was that?
He had to stop being crazy. He could hear Rachel saying he was gay. It was echoing in his head. She thought he was gay? Was he gay? How would someone know they were gay? How did Grayson know for sure? He seemed very confident.
Linc stood and marched back to Grayson's room. He knocked. Grayson opened the door. "How did you know you were gay? I mean for sure?" He was tapping his foot.
Grayson smiled. "Come in."
Linc nodded. He was all glitchy. He felt disconnected. He sat on the bed and then stood up.
"Linc. Sit." Grayson glared. Linc sat. Grayson sat beside him. "It's not contagious, Linc. Calm down."
"Shut up. I'm good. So?" Linc sighed.
Grayson smiled and started his story. "Well, I dated all kinds of girls in school. I always made sure to have a girlfriend. I think I always knew and I was trying to prove that I wasn't. I didn't want to be gay!"
Linc stared. "You didn't?"
Grayson laughed. "No! I was raised that it was wrong so I had sex with a lot of girls. One girlfriend dragged me to a gay bar. It was Hawaiian night and she and her friends wanted to dress up. We went."
"I didn't want to be there. I went to the bathroom and washed my face and there was a very out man that walked in. I was a little jealous that he was so free. I mean he was very gay."
"He walked up and kissed me. He didn't say hi or nothing. He pressed me into the wall and kissed me. I moaned and wrapped my arms around him. It was the best kiss I ever had. My heart hammered in my chest. That never happened when I was kissing a woman."
"What happened?" Linc was riveted.
Grayson laughed. "He pulled away and laughed. He said he thought I was a gay in the closet and it was time I came out. He waltzed out of the bathroom. I was stunned. Shocked. I had just kissed a man and I loved it. I wanted to find another one to kiss. I never wanted to kiss another woman."
"What did you do?"
Grayson smiled. "I gathered myself and pretended it didn't happen. I sat with the girls and complained about being there. They finally allowed me to leave."
"I stormed out and as I left, that man was in the doorway. He gave me his number. Just so you know, I called him the next night and we went out. It was nice. He wanted to talk so we talked. He kissed me again before he left."
"Oh. So, from then on?" Linc watched Grayson.
"Yes. I dated around but I never had sex with any of them. I wanted to find the right guy and guys are whores. I am waiting for the right guy." He smiled.
"Then I got hired by the agency and I just never said anything. I look like this and everyone assumed that I was straight." Grayson flexed his arm. "I guess they think a man like me can't be gay? I don't know. Linc. I'm sorry that I lied. I am. It was just so tough to say it out loud but I felt much better having said it."
Linc nodded.
"Are we good?" Grayson was worried.
Linc sighed. "Yes. We are. I think I'm fine with you being gay. I'm sorry for freaking out." He stood and Grayson stood. He hugged Linc like he did a thousand times. Linc let go and rushed out.
He could feel Grayson's body on his. He groaned as he got to his room. He thought back to everytime that Grayson hugged him. They had a good hunt. It was five months ago and Linc still remembered the details of the hug. Of every hug. He could feel Grayson's body. He could probably draw details of his back muscles and his arms. Grayson had a great body.
It was two days in the swamp but they caught the guy. They were relieved and Grayson hugged him tight. Linc could still feel his arms wrapping around his body. His hands were on his back. Linc touched Grayson's back and rubbed his shoulders. He could feel the muscles. Grayson had nice muscle tone. Linc had to stop thinking. What was his problem?
It was dinner time and Linc wasn't hungry. He had dozed off and had a weird dream and now he was messed up. He was blaming it on Rachel. She needed to keep her mouth shut. He wasn't gay! That dream was her fault.
Grayson and Linc were turning a vampire in and headed to get ice cream, it was their treat after. They needed the empty calories. It burned a lot to catch a vampire. They were sitting on a picnic table at the park, eating ice cream. Grayson leaned into Linc and pressed his mouth to Linc's. To Linc's surprise, he kissed Grayson back and moaned. It sounded happy. Linc remembered the kiss. It was fantastic. He sat up as he woke and he was sweating.
Now, he was sitting at dinner, sweating. What was with that dream? He never had a dream like that. Never. Food was served and Linc ate in silence. He didn't even want to look at anyone. He was fine. He had to be.
The days went like this. His dreams got worse too. He had dreadful afternoons that included practice with Grayson. They had to work on their hand to hand combat.
Practice was important and Linc tried to stay focused. He could do that. It was practice like they always did. He was a tough man.
Grayson and Linc were about the same height. Linc was leaner. He was the sprinter and Grayson had the muscle. Linc was plenty muscled but not like Grayson.
In his dreams, Linc was wrestling with Grayson and Grayson pinned him. Grayson leaned in and kissed him. Linc sighed and kissed him back. He woke each time freaking out. He could feel Gray's body on his and this was torture. He hated Rachel.
