Taehyung's pov
The atmosphere at the table shifted, and for a moment, silence hung in the air as we all absorbed the significance of Jungkook's gesture. It was a testament to the depth of their friendship, a connection that went beyond the glitz and glamour of their public personas.
Jin Hyung raised his glass, breaking the brief silence, "To Jungkook, the musical maestro of our group! May your melodies continue to weave the tapestry of our shared memories." We all joined in, toasting Jungkook's talent and the bond that held us together.
As the evening progressed, the conversation flowed seamlessly between jokes, memories, and plans for the future. The camaraderie among the group was palpable, and even though I was an outsider, I couldn't help but be drawn into the warmth of their friendship.
Jungkook, ever the entertainer, shared snippets of his upcoming song 'Like My Father,' sparking curiosity and excitement. The playful banter continued, and Jimin, true to his mischievous nature, decided to steer the game of Truth or Drink back into action.
Jimin turned to Jungkook with a knowing grin, "Alright, Kook. What's your ideal type?"
Jungkook's smile was warm, reflecting the depth of his sentiments, "My ideal type is more than just a checklist. I'm drawn to someone who exudes kindness, someone with a caring and thoughtful nature. It's those small, seemingly insignificant gestures that matter the most in life. I don't need perfection; I want someone willing to put effort into our relationship, cherishing the moments that often go unnoticed."
He continued, his gaze distant as if envisioning his ideal future, "I'm looking for someone unafraid of my flaws, someone who can navigate the complexities of my dark side and insecurities. A companion for a lifetime – not just a lover but a best friend. I want us to share the laughter of best friends, indulging in playful teasing and cute little fights that only deepen our connection."
Jungkook's eyes sparkled with sincerity, "I need someone who truly understands me, embracing my unrealistic dreams and supporting my endeavors. Someone who won't be phased by my overdramatic moments but, instead, revel in the uniqueness of our love. I want a partner who sees me as the 18-year-old they fell for, even when we're both old and, inevitably, a bit wrinkled."
My heart fluttered at Jungkook's description of an ideal lover. The depth with which he articulated his desires was overwhelming. Instead of focusing on superficial attributes like height, hair color, or eye shape, Jungkook delved into the qualities that transcend the physical. His words revealed a longing for a genuine emotional connection in a world often obsessed with appearances.
In that moment, I gained a newfound appreciation for Jungkook's authenticity. He wasn't searching for a picture-perfect partner; he sought someone who understood the intricacies of his soul. As he continued speaking, I found myself captivated by the sincerity and vulnerability in his words.
My thoughts were broken when Jungkook spoke again, "And the most important thing to me is if I love him truly, I would be ready to sacrifice everything in the world for him. But he needs to support me. He should be there for me."
He looked down with a smile. Jimin put his hand on Jungkook's shoulder and patted him while whispering, "Hey, it's okay. He was not the one for you. You'll find someone like this."
Jungkook nodded but spoke again, "Well, although considering the things I want are too much, I doubt I'll find someone. I'll maybe die single."
Jungkook chuckled, but we all could sense a hint of melancholy in his voice. My heart hurt looking at Jungkook. Why did he think like that? Perhaps, I can change that. In that moment, an overwhelming desire to shield him from any pain rushed through me. I yearned to crush all his worries and insecurities, to wrap him up in a warm blanket, and place him gently in my pocket.
Maybe, if he gave me a chance, I could show him what a gentleman is. I'll keep trying...
Jungkook suddenly looked up smiling and cleared his throat... He looked around the table, turning his gaze to everyone and turned to me... He asked, " Taehyung... What's your guilty pleasure"
Caught off guard, I glanced down, feeling a tinge of embarrassment before confessing, "I love playing video games. I'm literally addicted to them, but everyone thinks I'm too old for video games, so no one knows I play them. Overwatch is my go-to, like, all the time."
The table erupted in laughter, and even Jungkook joined in. He shared his own gaming antics, revealing, "I love video games too! I play them so much that Katlyn has to force me to sleep by confiscating them!"
Seizing the opportunity, a mischievous smile played on my lips as I suggested, "Maybe we can play it together sometime?"
Jungkook met my gaze with a playful smile, replying, "Maybe." The wink that followed added a flirtatious flair to the moment, leaving me with a warm sensation in my stomach and a heart that fluttered with newfound excitement. The unspoken promise of shared gaming sessions lingered in the air, making the night feel even more exhilarating.
The night carried on, and the atmosphere became more relaxed as the group dwindled down. Jimin was the first to bid his farewell, citing an early morning shoot that required his attention. Shortly after, Hoseok, Namjoon, and Jin also made their exits, leaving only Yoongi, Jungkook, and me. However, Jungkook was visibly inebriated, his words slurred as he babbled in his cute, drunken voice.
Observing him, I couldn't help but smile at the adorable sight. Jungkook, now a bit too intoxicated, glanced at me with wide doe eyes, sporting a pout on his face. Closing the gap between us, he traced his fingers on my cheeks and asked in his endearing drunken tone, "Taehyungie hyungie hyung... Can I call you that?"
With a warm smile, I replied, "You can call me anything you like."
Jungkook leaned towards my face, his proximity causing my heart to race. His breath danced on my neck as he whispered in my ear, "Can I tell you a secret?"
I nodded, feeling a slight shiver down my spine. Jungkook continued in the same cute voice, "I think you are really handsome. So pretty. I feel like I could fall looking at you."
His sudden burst of giggles filled the air, and I couldn't help but return the smile. It seemed that Jungkook found me handsome, a revelation that sparked a flicker of hope within me. As the night unfolded, I decided that I would seize the opportunity and do something about it later.
After enjoying Jungkook's adorable tipsy confessions, I turned my attention to Yoongi, who sat opposite us, sipping on a beer. Suggesting that it was getting late, I proposed, "Maybe we should head home."
Yoongi agreed with a nod but then requested a favor, "Can I ask you for something?"
Curious, I nodded, prompting him to explain, "I actually came on a bike. Can you drop Jungkook home? I don't want to bother Katlyn, his manager, as she got the evening off after a long time. Could you do that for me? I'll send you the address."
Assuring him, I replied, "Of course, Yoongi."
After Yoongi left the restaurant on his bike, heading home, I found myself taking Jungkook's hand in mine, guiding him towards my car. I ushered him into the passenger's seat and settled into the driver's seat. Leaning over to fasten his seatbelt, I couldn't help but notice the way Jungkook cupped my cheeks, gazing at me with an endearing expression. Goodness, this boy was testing the limits of my self-control.
His touch sent a jolt through me, and for a fleeting moment, the desire to close the gap between us and kiss him was overpowering. However, I hastily fastened his seatbelt and leaned back, attempting to create a reasonable distance. As I started the car, Jungkook continued his adorable and random chatter, the cadence of his voice filling the space between us.
The city lights blurred into streaks of color as we navigated through the streets, but my attention was divided between the road and the captivating presence beside me. Jungkook's animated storytelling and occasional laughter created a symphony that resonated in the confines of the car.
Despite the distraction, I couldn't help but marvel at the charm of the moment. The cityscape outside the window served as a picturesque backdrop to the ongoing conversation. Jungkook's infectious energy seemed to transcend the confines of the car, filling the night with a certain vibrancy.
However, in the midst of our animated exchange, Jungkook's demeanor shifted abruptly. The ceaseless chatter ceased, replaced by a sudden quietness that hung in the air. I turned to look at him, only to find him hugging himself, a subtle shiver running through his frame. Concern furrowed my brows – was he feeling cold?
Deciding to address the potential chill, I steered the car to a corner, bringing it to a gentle halt. I turned towards Jungkook, who wore a delicate expression. Without a word, I unfastened my coat and draped it over him, the material enveloping him like a protective shield. A smile of satisfaction graced his features as he embraced the added warmth.
As we resumed our journey, Jungkook's chatter resumed, the coat becoming a shared space between us. The city outside continued its lively display, but now, within the car, an added layer of intimacy lingered. The coat, a silent witness to the unspoken connection, became a symbol of care amidst the nocturnal adventure. The juxtaposition of the city's grandeur and this small, intimate gesture created a moment that resonated with quiet significance.
