Chapter One: Coming Home.

(Y/N) held her hands tightly on the steering wheel. One at two o'clock and one at eleven, as some may put it. She had been traveling for quite some time now. One, maybe two hours. She didn't pay attention to the time, for she was enjoying the car ride to no where. Well, practically no where. It was funny to her, it has been ten years, and she still remembers the way to get there. No GPS, no maps, just her moving west. Every sight brought her back to her car ride during the big move.

She gasped and pulled to the side of the road, her eyes beaming with delight. She parked her car on the side of the street. She reached over and grabbed her camera from the passenger's seat. She hopped out of the car, leaving it running. Putting the camera around her neck, she approached a rather fiery looking bush. Orange and yellow buds sprouted from their branches, leaving a magnificent looking flower.

"Fascinating." She spoke, snapping the shutter. She focused it, got several different viewpoints and compositions in, taking it in.

Ah yes, (Y/N) was a photographer. Like most photographers, she saw the world through a different eye. She was always intrigued by nature. She never staged her subjects of the photo, but she allowed the natural world itself to stage. Rarely she took pictures of buildings and manmade settings, but when she did, something had to stand out.

Was she successful at what she did? Oh yes, for a young photographer, she had received many awards for her works. Many times she had to take several risks, as in balancing from a tree- upside down. Maybe even taking a picture from the top of a skyscraper in a city nearby. Certain death was on the line, but photography was her passion. When this (Y/N) was passionate, she was fearless.

It was quite shocking compared to what she usually showed as her 'terrified' and 'vulnerable-like' self when brought into reality. In the world of photos, she could care less.

She snapped the shutter once more. When satisfied, she approached her car again, climbing into the driver seat, and disposing of her camera by placing it securely in its case.

She shifted the gear back into drive, and she made her way back onto the road. It was surprisingly not to busy at this time, which was great news for (Y/N). The less obstacles, the sooner she'd arrive.

As asphalt turned into dirt road, (Y/N) excitement grew and her grin became wider and wider. Her heart was pumping with excitement. "I wonder if they are all still here." She pondered. It has been a while. Some old friends may have moved on, leaving for the better good. Yet again, Gravity Falls is so close, it was almost unlikely. Family and friends was important there.

(Y/N) almost screamed in excitement at the sight of the great big sign that read 'Welcome To Gravity Falls!'. She had never been so excited in her whole life. She couldn't wait to see the look on everyone's faces. She hadn't told anyone she was coming. Things could either go really bad, or really good.

One thing that absolutely thrilled her was the scenery. The thick, dense woods would be promising for several outstanding photos. Tall trees, exotic blooms, foreign wild life, and the several other beauties of ancient structures that could mean literally anything.

Pine trees passed as she made her way closer to the peculiar town. The undergrowth hid in their burrows under the shade of the trees. Buildings of miss-matched colors decorated the roadside.

Some people were biking, some walking. A few were driving. You could clearly tell the type of life style each person had, based on there clothes, hair, hygiene. Everyone in this town was different, and that's one of the many reasons that these people loved the city; anyone was welcome.

(Y/N) kept following the dirt road ahead. She remember this route like the back of her right hand. She followed the road and curved right.

She started to hum a random tune that came to mind. Her mouth stretched into a smile as she drove deeper into the woods. She rolled down the window, smelling the earthly scents of pines and fresh air. It was a fragrance that you couldn't smell in Homedale. The shivers that ran down her spine told her she was home, where she belonged.

She got so caught up in the moment, she missed her turn. (Y/N) jerked her head over her right shoulder.

"Shoot!" She muttered. She neared the edge of the road and did a 'u-turn'. (Y/N) drove back until she spotted the entrance she originally passed. She turned left, entering the canopy of trees. Poorly made signs were advertising along side the road. (Y/N)'s eyes gleamed when she made her way into the clearing, spotting the glorious shack itself.

The Mystery Shack had not changed drastically. Besides aging and a few new flaws in the roof, it was the same cabin (Y/N) remembered it as.

She pulled up her car up in the make-shift parking lot. She shifted the gear into parking, taking out her key. Resting her back against her seat, she sucked in a breath. She couldn't believe she was back.

When mentally prepared, she unlocked the door, leaving her camera inside with her phone in her back pocket. She waltzed her way towards the shacking, eyeing the scenery.

Birds were chirping and the wind permitted a nice, steady breeze to weave through the cedars. Dry dirt crunched under the souls of her feet. Her breath started to hitch the closer she got. She practically feel her heart pounding adrenaline all over body. Her head was pulsing like she had just finished running a mile. The grinding of dirt soon turned into the pitter-patter of her boots on the wooden porch.

She approached the door cautiously, eyeing the worn brass doorknob. She could hear shifting from the inside, meaning she'd be immediately greeted. She took a breath and turned the doorknob slowly.

She swore everything went into slow motion. It was all too surreal.

Creaking the door open, she could hear a gruff, hostile voice from the other side. "We're closed. Come ba-" in mid sentence, the man who spoke stopped, his mouth agape.

He seemed to be at a lost for words. After a few moments of utter silence, he could finally mutter out a word. "Kid?" (Y/N) grinned an innocent smile.

"It's good to see you again, Mr. Pines."
