chapter 8 - The Brothers That Care Forgot

From 2.03 "Every Mother's Child", in the courtyard, Klaus, Kassandra and Elijah waked out of the compound.
Mikayla: (voice over) "Previously on Worlds Colliding (The Originals)"
From 2.03 "Every Mother's Child", in the back of Lenore's store, Hayley and Mikayla stood in front of Auria protectively, glaring at Lenore/Esther.
Klaus, Kassandra and Elijah walked in.
"I assume you've had the misfortune of speaking to my mother," Kassandra told them.
Later, Hayley, Mikayla and Auria were gone.
Lenore/Esther looked at Klaus, Kassandra and Elijah. "I have come to heal our family."
From 2.05 "Red Door", in the crypt, Elijah tried to lunge toward her angrily, but still couldn't get any closer.
"I want you to rejoin our family, take the body of a mortal," Lenore/Esther told him. "We can all be happy again."
From 2.07 "Chasing the Devil's Tail", in the lycee, Lenore/Esther and Vincent/Finn were talking.
"It is time you bring Auria in," Lenore/Esther told him.
Vincent/Finn was visibly nervous. "I thought we had more time."
From 2.07 "Chasing the Devil's Tail", in Rousseau's, Lenore/Esther walked toward Auria. "My son has taken quite the liking to you." Auria raised her arm toward Lenore/Esther. Lenore/Esther held the bottle of herbs she had shown Vincent/Finn earlier, chanting over it. "Carama sae au."
Auria couldn't breathe, looking weak and lightheaded, almost as if being sedated, drifting into unconsciousness.
From 2.04 "Live and Let Die", in Marcel's Loft, the werewolves surrounded Marcel, Noah, Caitlin, Josh and the other vampires.
"Proud werewolves on a witch's leash," Noah told them. "I hope those rings you're wearing are worth it."
From 2.07 "Chasing the Devil's Tail", in Kol's Playhouse, Davina was lying down.
Kaleb/Kol was sitting next to her. "You're gonna like me, Davina Claire." He laid a blanket over her. "An I'm gonna let you pretend a while that you don't already."
From 2.06 "Wheel Inside the Wheel", in Elijah's room, Klaus and Kassandra laid Elijah on his bed.
Elijah was still in his bloodstained, ripped suit. He was still unconscious.
Klaus and Kassandra looked at Elijah in worried concern.
Lenore/Esther: (voice over from 2.06 Wheel Inside the Wheel) "When he wakes, he'll make his own decision."
From 1.22 "From a Cradle to a Grave", on the road, Kassandra handed Hope to Rebekah.
Kassandra: (voice over from 2.06 Wheel Inside the Wheel) "You declared war when you came after our family."
From 2.06 "Wheel Inside the Wheel", in the crypt, Klaus lost his temper, grabbing Lenore/Esther by her throat, pushing her against the wall.
Lenore/Esther struggled to breathe. "You... don't... understand."
Later, Klaus and Kassandra were gone.
Vincent/Finn knelt next to Lenore/Esther. "If that child had lived..."
Vincent/Finn couldn't finish, unable to speak the words.
"Dahlia would return," Lenore/Esther finished gravely. "And she would come for us all."
From 2.07 "Chasing the Devil's Tail", in Marcel's Loft, Auria was holding the chains. "Slap them on a witch..."
From 2.07 "Chasing the Devil's Tail", in the church, Auria appeared behind Vincent/Finn, raising her arm toward him, using magic to throw him into sacristy, making him fall to the steps next to it. She used magic to throw the chains toward him, locking them around his wrists and ankles, walking closer.
Auria: (voice over from 2.07 Chasing the Devil's Tail) "They can't do magic as long as they're on."
From 2.07 "Chasing the Devil's Tail", in the ballroom of the compound, Vincent/Finn and Kaleb/Kol were on either side of the room, chained to the railings of the staircase.
Klaus, Kassandra and Elijah were shocked yet pleased.
"Kidnapping?" Kaleb/Kol asked. "That's a rather unpleasant way to begin a family reunion."
Kassandra smiled. "Well, wait until you see how we end it."

Day One
Morning - Park
Children were playing football and playing on the playground.
Kassandra: (voice over) "We arrive into this world as innocents. Wide-eyed. Vulnerable."
Mothers were pushing their children in strollers.
Kassandra: (voice over) "It is the job of our parents to nurture and protect us. Unfortunately, our own parents failed miserably at even the most basic of parental tasks."
Rebekah was gently pushing Hope in an infant swing, smiling. "Hello, my love."
Kassandra: (voice over) "But, we are not beholden to the past they created for us."
--
Abattoir Compound - Dining Room
Klaus, Elijah, Kassandra, Kaleb/Kol and Vincent/Finn were having breakfast.
Kaleb/Kol and Vincent/Finn were still bound with the enchanted manacles that prevented them from doing magic.
Compelled servants in suits placed platters of breakfast pastries on the table.
"Today, a new future awaits," Kassandra told them. "Forget your animosity toward Elijah, Niklaus and myself. Instead, join us against she who truly deserves your ire. Our mother." Kaleb/Kol rolled his eyes. Vincent/Finn looked bored. "Do this, and we will welcome you with open arms."
"Kassandra..." Kaleb/Kol trailed off, reaching for a plate of pastries with his shackled hands.
Kassandra pulled the plate away.
Kaleb/Kol sighed, rolling his eyes.
Kassandra smiled. "But, if you continue to oppose us, a denial of pastries will be the least of your concerns."
Kaleb/Kol sighed. "If all you wanted was my allegiance against Mother Dearest, you should have said so. Save me a night shackled to the wall."
"Yes, this was Kassandra," Elijah told them. "My recommendation was to remove your limbs, one by one, until you comply."
Klaus laughed, standing. "We've--we've no desire to torture you." He stood behind Kaleb/Kol and Vincent/Finn, squeezing their shoulders. "Provided you vow to stand beside us."
Vincent/Finn shrugged out of Klaus' grip, looking from him to Elijah. "Brothers..." He looked at Kassandra. "Sister... Does that word even apply to us? After all these centuries of betrayal?" He looked at Klaus. "And, has loyalty to you ever rewarded? If so, tell me, Niklaus, where is our other sister, Rebekah?" Elijah glared at Vincent/Finn. "She was blindly loyal to you for a thousand years, and now? Nowhere to be found. Where did your sister go? And, how did she escape your vile machinations?"
Klaus had his back turned to them, clearly nervous, suspicious, forcing a laugh to cover for it, turning to face them. "You think me vile? What, then, do you make of the one who cursed us?"
"She was trying to make you mortal again," Vincent/Finn told them in frustration. Kassandra was bored, picking a knife up from the table, suspicious and annoyed. "And, you all refused her." Vincent/Finn laughed darkly. "It only proves how far you've fallen. But, I expect Rebekah will have a different response to her proposal."
--
Park
Rebekah was still playing with Hope. She turned around to see a starling watching her from the nearby playground.
Vincent/Finn: (voice over) "See, unlike the three of you, she always did cling to her humanity."
--
Abattoir Compound - Dining Room
Klaus, Kassandra, Elijah, Kaleb/Kol and Vincent/Finn continued their breakfast and conversation around the table.
"Rebekah is off-limits to you," Elijah told them angrily. "You pursue her, and you will suffer."
Klaus, Kassandra, Kaleb/Kol and Vincent/Finn were surprised and slightly concerned by Elijah's uncharacteristic outburst.
"Do not let him goad you, Elijah," Kassandra told him. "Neither he, nor Esther, will find Rebekah unless she wants to be found." She turned to Vincent/Finn. "And she does not."
Vincent/Finn smirked in amusement. "Esther is quite determined."
--
Park
Rebekah looked incredibly unnerved by the starling watching her. She turned to pull Hope out of the swing, turning around.
An entire flock of starlings had perched themselves on the playground, all of them watching her.
Rebekah went from uncomfortable to alarmed.
--
Abattoir Compound - Dining Room
Klaus, Elijah, Kassandra, Kaleb/Kol and Vincent/Finn continued their breakfast and conversation around the table.
"She's been searching for Rebekah since the day she returned," Vincent/Finn told them. "I imagine it's only a matter of time."
Elijah lost his temper, grabbing Vincent/Finn by the collar, slamming him onto the table, transforming, biting him on the neck, feeding.

Worlds Colliding (The Originals)
--
Abattoir Compound - Courtyard
Elijah and Kassandra were no longer with the others.
Kassandra pushed Elijah against the nearby wall.
Elijah put his hands up in a harmless gesture.
Kassandra took Elijah's handkerchief out of his jacket pocket, handing it to him so he could clean himself up. "I enjoy a good bloodletting as much as anyone, but our brothers have power as well as knowledge of Esther's plans." Klaus walked closer. Elijah wiped the blood from his face. "We need them alive."
"Imagine what they would do to Rebekah," Klaus told them. "To Hope."
"Rebekah has been cloaked by powerful magic by none other than our dear friend Auria Rayvnne," Kassandra told them. "Focus on the task at hand." She lowered her voice, looking around. "We need to persuade our brothers."
"I'm through with persuasion," Elijah told them, about to leave.
Kassandra grabbed his arm to stop him. "Has the earth shifted on its axis? You needing restraint from me?"
Elijah looked surprised.
Kassandra's phone rang. She pulled it out of her pocket, seeing it was Rebekah calling, answering.
Rebekah was walking through the park, holding Hope close to her anxiously. "It's me. I have the baby and we're on the run. Esther found us." Kassandra looked stunned after the fact that Rebekah would call to tell her this right after she told their brothers that they were safe. "We're safe for now. I've lost her bloody starlings, but I have no idea where to go."
Klaus and Elijah were listening to the phone call.
Klaus looked at Kassandra. "Tell her to head west. I'll call Hayley and Mikayla."
Rebekah could hear them. "Do not tell Hayley and Mikayla. Esther's too smart for that. The only advantage that we have is that she thinks the baby died. Text me the plans."
Kassandra hung up, sighing.
"Go," Elijah told them. "I'll take care of Kol and Finn."
"Splendid," Kassandra told them sarcastically. "And, in your hands, I assume they'll be dead by nightfall."
"I will show restraint, Kassandra," Elijah told her. "Niklaus, Hope needs her father."
"What she needs... what we need... are allies to help us defeat our mother," Klaus told them. "Finn and Kol must be turned to our side. Without their help, there will be nowhere left for Hope to run."
"Niklaus, your child--" Elijah started.
"I have waited months to see my daughter," Klaus told him, swallowing, clearly unhappy with this plan. "I can wait one more day."
Kassandra and Elijah looked at Klaus sympathetically.
Kassandra sighed. "Well, no offense to you, either, Nik, but I know that with you in charge, our brothers might be dead before nightfall." Klaus raised his eyebrows slightly in acknowledgement. "I'm staying." Klaus nodded. Elijah turned to leave. Kassandra turned after him. "Elijah." Elijah turned to them. "Do whatever it takes to keep her safe."
"I give you my word," Elijah told them, turning around, walking away.
Klaus and Kassandra watched their brother go, worried about their sister and Hope.
Kassandra turned to face Klaus. "Call Marcel and ask him about Auria. Find out why that witch's spell didn't cloak our sister well enough."
Klaus nodded, walking out of the room to call Marcel.
--
Bayou
Hayley, Mikayla, Jackson and Aiden were in the bayou, outside of Jackson's trailer, discussing current problems.
"The wolves are freaking out," Aiden told them. "They know it had to be an insider who took down Vincent last night, seeing as no one could have been anywhere near him."
"Did anyone suspect it was you?" Jackson asked.
Aiden shook his head. "No, not yet. But, they're gonna figure it out, which pretty much means I'm screwed unless we come up with a plan."
"Call a meeting," Mikayla told him. "The whole pack, tonight. If they're so scared, now's the perfect time to convince them they need to ditch Esther."
Aiden held up the hand that wore his ring. "She gave them moonlight rings."
"Well, those rings make you slaves," Hayley told him.
"No, they make us powerful," Aiden told them. "We were exiles before, but now we run the city. The vampires are scared of us, and nobody, including me, is just gonna walk away from that because--"
Jackson stood, stepping closer. "Set the damn meeting."
Jackson walked away.
Mikayla sighed.
Hayley turned to Mikayla. "Go after him. I'll stay and talk with Aiden."
Mikayla gave Hayley a thankful look.
Hayley nodded in understanding.
Mikayla followed Jackson onto the dock of the lake.
Jackson opened a can of beer.
"So, are you gonna work on a rousing speech, or just get day drunk?" Mikayla asked.
"Little bit of both," Jackson answered.
Mikayla took the beer from him. "Jack, it's ten AM."
Jackson turned away, leaning against the boat house. He looked at a small table covered in books, grabbing a brown, leather-bound journal off of the top of a pile. "You know, for months, I wrote down every single word Ansel said. The entire history of our people. If only I'd known he was Klaus' father, I would have asked him a hell of a lot more. You know, I was up all right looking through this, trying to find something, anything that will help me figure out how to get our people back together."
Jackson tossed the book onto the table.
"Let me guess," Mikayla told him. "No such luck."
Jackson sighed. "Nothing viable. And now, Ansel's dead. Along with Ollie. So, forgive me if I need a beer, 'cause right now, I can use all the help I can get."
Jackson took his drink from Mikayla, walking away, leaving.
Mikayla sighed, looking down at the brown leather journal. She tilted her head curiously, picking it up, starting to read.

Marcel's Loft
Marcel, Noah, Caitlin, Davina and Josh were standing in the living room in front of the wall of windows, talking.
"I screwed up, you guys," Davina told them. "I was with Kaleb last night, and he took the white oak stake when I was asleep." Caitlin and Josh looked at each other in guilt, looking down. Marcel and Noah exchanged a knowing look. "I--I'm sorry. I never should have trusted him."
"Kol doesn't have the stake," Noah told her. "The Originals do." Davina looked at him in upset confusion. "Matter of fact, they have Kol, too."
"What?" Davina asked. "How is that possible?"
"D, I'm the one who took him," Marcel answered. Davina looked at him in anger. "I saw an opportunity, and I wasn't gonna pass it up. Trust me, we are all safer this way."
"Not Kaleb," Davina stressed. "Klaus will kill him."
"His name isn't Kaleb, it's Kol," Noah told her. "And, Klaus has had a thousand years to kill him, and he hasn't. Plus, Kassandra's not gonna let anything happen to Kol. So, worry less about him, and more about yourself. All right? This guy is not your friend. He wants to use you to get his own way."
"You don't know him like I do," Davina told them.
"I know him better than you do," Marcel told her, standing, walking toward Davina. Josh leaned back in his chair, clearly uncomfortable. Caitlin looked down, sighing. "Now, I'm sorry I had to go behind your back. And I hate lying to you, I really do, but believe me, this is for your own good."
Noah stood. "We gotta take care of some business, all right?"
"What do you mean?" Caitlin asked.
"Noah means, Auria hasn't been answering her phone, and we would like to know why by going straight to one of the sources," Marcel answered.
"And trust me when I say that when the sources don't give up what they know, it's not gonna be pretty," Noah told them. "So, Caitlin, Davina, stick with Josh. Everything's gonna be okay."
Marcel and Noah walked out, leaving.
Davina looked at Caitlin and Josh, not at all happy about this.
Caitlin and Josh exchanged a subtly guilty look.
Caitlin was starting to worry about Auria.
--
Abattoir Compound - Dining Room
Kaleb/Kol and Vincent/Finn were still at the table, wearing their shackles.
"Elijah is off his bloody rocker," Kaleb/Kol told him. "We need to get out of here. Are you gonna help me, or what?"
"If you were a little more clever, you would recognize that there is opportunity in our current circumstances," Vincent/Finn told him.
"Opportunity to what?" Kaleb/Kol asked. "Get a Mikaelson beating?"
Klaus and Kassandra walked in.
"Gentlemen," Kassandra told them. "I apologize for keeping you waiting. Good news is, we've returned with two old friends who want to say hello."
Marcel and Noah walked in.
Noah smiled smugly. "Hello." Vincent/Finn rolled his eyes, sighing. "How's it going, fellas?"
"Ah, you two again," Kaleb/Kol told them. "You ever get bored of getting bullied by my brother?"
Noah chuckled, taking off his jacket. "Oh, we volunteered for this."
"Did you?" Kaleb/Kol asked.
Marcel wasn't in his normal charming and charismatic mood due to his worry and anger. "The way I see it, you have it coming."
Noah hit Vincent/Finn on the chest. "Your brother here tried to kill me and others last night when all we wanted to do is talk."
"A pretty civil conversation, if you ask me, Noah," Vincent/Finn told him sarcastically.
"Oh, it's nothing you haven't done yourself, Finn," Noah replied.
Marcel stood in front of Kaleb/Kol. "And you." He pushed Kaleb/Kol. "First, you messed with Davina." He pushed Kaleb/Kol. "Then, Auria ends up going missing without returning my phone calls. And we all know that Esther wants to get her hands on her to do God knows what. Uh-uh. Not happening. You're gonna fess up on what you know about Auria, and you're gonna do it the right way."
"Well, I'd prefer you both to join us against our mother," Klaus told them. "But, I'll happily settle for one or the other. Either way, if you continue to defy us, your lives will be reduced to an unending sequence of agonizing torture."
Klaus smiled.
Kaleb/Kol looked torn, turning to Vincent/Finn.
Vincent/Finn had remained calm and collected until Marcel had mentioned Auria.
Kassandra sighed. "So, brothers... which is it to be?"
Kassandra smirked slightly.
--~--
Upstairs Living Room
Marcel dragged Kaleb/Kol by his manacles into the room, pushing him into an armchair. "I gotta say, I'm gonna enjoy this. Out of the whole, twisted family..." Kaleb/Kol started to stand. Marcel pushed him down angrily. "Sit down! You were the one I liked the least."
Kaleb/Kol was clearly anxious, trying to catch his breath, considering his best option to get out of the situation he was in. "Yeah, well, there's a pretty young lady who disagrees with that opinion."
"Then let me make myself perfectly clear," Marcel told him. "You go near Davina again, and if you don't tell me what the hell happened to Auria, I'm gonna cut off parts of you that you'd rather keep."
Kaleb/Kol looked at him in boredom. "Ah, more threats. How bloody inventive. Thing is, Klaus ad Kassandra need me. So, that backs you into a bit of a corner, doesn't it?"
"Oh, until we get rid of your mom," Marcel told him. "I wonder what happens then."
"Well, my family might not need me if my mother's gone, but you might," Kaleb/Kol told him. Marcel looked at him in suspicious confusion. "Come on, Marcel. You were king of the city once, with Noah as its prince. Do you really think my brother's just gonna give it back to you and Noah?"
Marcel chuckled. "You always got an angle, don't you?"
"You see, individually, we can't do anything," Kaleb/Kol told him. "But together, you me and Noah? Wow. My brother wouldn't stand a chance."
Marcel sighed. "Probably not." He picked up a scalpel off of a nearby table. "But then, I'd have to trust you, and I don't. At least with your other siblings, I know exactly what I'm getting."
Kaleb/Kol shrugged. "Well, I thought you had more fortitude, Marcellus. You disappoint me."
Marcel leaned forward so he could look Kaleb/Kol in the eye. "You really think that I'm considering taking back the city when all I wanna do is rip it apart until I find Auria? Klaus and Kassandra just want to know what you're up to. I just want to find Auria."
"I'm sorry, mate," Kaleb/Kol told him. "I don't know where your girlfriend is. Maybe you should keep on a tighter leash. If the rumors about Auria Rayvnne are true, I hear she's a wild one."
Marcel angrily stabbed the scalpel into the chair next to Kaleb/Kol's head, making him flinch. "Tell me everything that you know."

Study
Noah pushed Vincent/Finn into a chair behind him. "This is really gonna be fun. You would really side with your murderous mother than your siblings?"
"Like my siblings are any better," Vincent/Finn replied.
"At least they haven't tried to kill you," Noah told him. "Just left you daggered in a box for 900 years."
"Exactly," Vincent/Finn told him. "They left me in a box."
"At least they didn't try to make you extinct," Noah replied.
"Why would I listen to anything you have to say?" Vincent/Finn asked. "Your parents were worse to you than mine were."
"Are you sure about that?" Noah asked. "I mean, yeah, they beat me, and every once in a while, when my dad would drink, yeah, he would try to kill me. But, you don't have that excuse. Your parents have tried to kill you every day for the last 1000 years of your pathetic little life, even when they didn't have theirs. Now, explain that to me."
Vincent/Finn changed the subject. "Tell me something, Noah. When my father left you to burn in the Opera House in 1919, and your parents were dead, why didn't you feel any remorse? Because you turned into a vampire? Because of the horrible way they treated you every day for the 18 years of your pathetic little human life, when when you were their son? Now, explain that to me." Noah smirked, not letting his words affect him. "I should have killed you when I had the chance."
"Yeah, you should have," Noah agreed. "But you didn't." He leaned closer. "And nobody cares for your opinion. Klaus and Kassandra just want to know what you're up to. Marcel and I just want to find out where Auria is. Tell me everything. Maybe you get to live." Vincent/Finn seemed affected when he brought up Auria. Noah noticed this, picking up a knife from a nearby table. "If not?"
Noah stabbed Vincent/Finn in the hand with the knife, pinning it to the arm of the chair, making him scream in pain.
--
Marcel's Loft
Josh, Caitlin and Davina were sitting around in front of the wall of windows.
Davina was trying to do a locator spell, soon losing hope, gaining frustration. She turned away to angrily throw a dart into the dartboard behind her.
"Still no luck?" Caitlin asked.
"No," Davina answered. "Every locator spell I use to try and find Auria fails. I don't know what's going on."
There was a long moment of awkward silence.
Caitlin looked at Davina. "For the record, yes, I knew what Marcel was up to, in fact, I was there in the room because I wanted to make sure that you were okay, and you can hate me if you want to, but--"
"I don't hate you, Caitlin," Davina told her. "I'm just sick of worrying about you. And Josh and Marcel, and Noah and Auria. Most of all, I am tired of Klaus always being in the middle of it." Josh threw a dart at the dartboard on the wall. "You know, every time I try to stand up to him.--"
"It... hadn't worked out so well," Caitlin finished. Davina shrugged in annoyance. "Yeah. Failure, party of three?"
Davina smiled, looking from Caitlin to Josh. "You two seem to be doing all right."
"Oh, yeah," Josh told her. "Caitlin finally stopped pretending to be mad at Noah, and they made up, in more ways than you know." Davina looked at Caitlin happily in surprise to hear this, smiling. Caitlin was embarrassed, looking down. "Yeah. And I'm good. Except that every werewolf in town is trying to kill us. Well, except for the super hot one that I'm sort of dating. But, that's got its own problems, though." Caitlin smirked, looking at Davina, nodding. Davina obviously wanted to hear more. "It's kind of a... Romeo and Romeo thing."
"And how hot is this Romeo?" Davina asked.
"Well..." Josh trailed off, rolling his eyes teasingly, pulling out his phone, showing Davina the same picture of Aiden he had showed Caitlin in 2.04 Live and Let Die.
"Pretty hot," Caitlin told him. "Definitely worth the drama."
"Yeah..." Josh trailed off.
Davina suddenly got an idea. "Invite him over." Josh and Caitlin looked at her in confusion. "Yeah, I wanna meet him. Come on, do it."
Josh still looked unsure, looking at Caitlin.
Caitlin shrugged, nodding for him to do it.

Lafayette Cemetery - Lycee
Auria was lying on the table, unconscious. She was still in her dress from her date with Vincent/Finn.
Lenore/Esther stood over her, chanting a spell. "Somno ritum per dax ritum. Somno ritum per dax ritum. Somno ritum per dax ritum. Somno ritum per dax ritum." Auria remained unconscious on the table. Lenore/Esther stroked back a piece of her hair. "Don't worry, Auria. Soon, you'll be as good as new. You'll see."
--
Abattoir Compound - Study
Vincent/Finn was sitting in his chair.
Noah pulled out a roll of torture tools. "Do you think your mom is even the least bit concerned for your well being?"
Noah pulled out a large knife, testing how sharp it was.
Vincent/Finn was weak and bleeding. "She knows I don't need rescuing."
Noah held up the knife to Vincent/Finn. "Hmm?"
Vincent/Finn didn't show a reaction.
Noah stabbed Vincent/Finn in the arm, making him scream in pain.
"You can toy with me all you want, Noah, but you won't kill me," Vincent/Finn told him. "Because Klaus and Kassandra want to know what Mother is up to, and Marcel wants to know where his lost little love is. You want to know where Auria is, too."
"And you should know that when Marcel wants to know where his 'lost little love' is, he doesn't give up until he gets her back," Noah told him. "Auria is a friend of mine who is like family to me, Caitlin and Davina, so of course I'm gonna do this to try and find her. And Klaus and Kassandra say they understand your devotion to Mommy Dearest. She must have clung to you with desperate need after your sister died, making you believe it was your responsibility to care for her. Always and forever, hmm? A burden which you accepted without question, because you were a good son. Small children lack the capacity to question their parents, but you're a man, now, Finn." He sighed, chuckling, shaking his head. "Me, on the other hand? I don't understand it at all. Once burned, forever marked."
"Is that the extent of your argument?" Vincent/Finn asked. "I'm a man, now, and I have been betrayed, so I should join your wretched cause?"
"Is it not better to join us, then spend the remainder of your mortal life aligned to a woman who always manipulated you?" Noah replied. "You know, Finn, if I was you, I would see this as an opportunity to free myself."
"Well, thankfully, you're not me," Vincent/Finn told him.
Noah smirked. "Side with us, and we will give you the life she never once offered. A chance to choose your own path." Vincent/Finn didn't answer. "No? I suppose we could always stick with the torture, then."

Bayou
Jackson was chopping firewood near his trailer.
Mikayla walked closer with the brown leather journal. "You wanna stop playing mountain-man and explain why you kept this from me?" She held up the journal. Jackson sighed, dropping his ax. "Why don't I jog your memory?" Mikayla started to read from the journal. "'The werewolves' power can be traced back to the myth of the Unification Ceremony, a ritual that bestowed certain unique abilities onto every member of the pack'." Jackson looked guilty. "Do you believe this?"
"I didn't at first," Jackson answered. "And then Ansel swore he saw it with his own eyes. And then he dies, and I found out he was resurrected from a thousand years ago, which means he was alive to see it."
"How did I not know about this?" Mikayla asked.
"You didn't grow up out here," Jackson answered. "Yeah, every kid grows up hearing the stories. Back in the day, werewolf bloodlines were all distinct, right? Some had speed, some had strength, some could sense enemies from miles away. Now, to evolve, we could perform a ritual. A shaman would marry the Alphas of each bloodlines, and then the special abilities of each would be... inherited, mystically, by everyone who participated in the ritual. See, after a few centuries, everybody had the same abilities, so Alpha marriages became political. They became about... power. About territory."
Mikayla considered for a moment. "But I have an unique ability. Because I'm a hybrid, I can control when I change. So, if this mystical marriage thing works, then--then our people get my power, and they can ditch the rings." Jackson looked at her. Mikayla looked excited. "Which means Esther no longer has a hold over them." Jackson nodded in agreement, looking down. Mikayla stepped closer. "Jack, this is exactly the answer that we've been looking for."
"This isn't just about finding a shaman and saying a few vows," Jackson told her. "If the vows ain't honored, it doesn't work. It's gotta be a real marriage, in every way, for the rest of our lives." Mikayla looked stunned and speechless. "I know you care, Mikayla. About me. About the pack. But this isn't just about saving them. This is about what you're willing to do. Don't make this decision just for me or for the pack. Make it for you. This is why I didn't tell you, Mikayla. Because I didn't want to put you in this kind of position. I'll let you think about it."
Jackson walked away, leaving Mikayla to think and consider her own options.

Lafayette Cemetery - Lycee
Auria was still lying on the table, unmoving.
Lenore/Esther was pacing around, gathering ingredients for a spell. She looked at Auria for a moment, turning her back to start the spell. She suddenly groaned in pain, holding her head, screaming.
Auria was now standing behind her, holding her hand toward Lenore/Esther, causing the pain infliction spell to an extent that Lenore/Esther could barely see.
Lenore/Esther turned to Auria, thrusting her hand toward her to retaliate with magic.
The illusion of Auria faded, revealing that Auria had just used the illusion of herself to buy her enough time to escape.
Lenore/Esther sighed heavily, not knowing what to think.

Bayou
Mikayla and Hayley were sitting on the dock over the water.
Hayley was stunned. "It's an actual marriage?"
"Yeah," Mikayla answered. "He didn't tell me because he didn't want to put me in a difficult position. Hayley, I'm sorry to ramble on and on about this, but..."
Hayley smiled. "Please. You just discovered an ancient marriage ritual with pretty drastic supernatural and personal implications. The least I can do is give you someone to talk to about this and be a sister for you." Mikayla smiled a small smile. "So, I called Cami. She said that she found everything in her uncle's files about werewolf ceremonies and rituals. Mostly, it sounds like old folklore and fables." Mikayla nodded. Hayley looked at her sympathetically. "But I'm guessing you're not looking for some kind of proof here."
Mikayla shook her head. "I don't know what I'm looking for."
"Not to pry, but... does Jackson have any answers?" Hayley asked.
"He told me to take some time to think about it," Mikayla told her. "He doesn't even want to put me in this position. He's a good, decent guy, if those even exist anymore."
Hayley smiled. "But you love him?" Mikayla nodded. Hayley smiled a small smile, clearing her throat. "Mikayla, there is no right answer to this. You just have to figure out what's best for you, and think long and hard about your decision, because you're the one who's going to have to live with it."
Mikayla sighed. "No pressure."
Hayley chuckled. "I'm sure you'll find a way to get through it, though. That's what your best at doing."
Hayley playfully nudged Mikayla with her shoulder.
Mikayla laughed at her sister's attempts to cheer her up.

Marcel's Loft
(Song:) Panama - Destroyer
Caitlin was the one putting the song on the stereo system.
Davina was nearby, throwing darts, nodding her head to the beat.
Josh led Aiden inside to meet them.
"Nice music," Aiden told them. "Girls' got taste."
Caitlin smiled, walking toward him. "Oh, please. That was my call. She wanted Puccini."
Aiden groaned teasingly, making a face.
Caitlin chuckled.
Davina smiled, walking closer, offering her hand. "You must be Aiden." Aiden shook her hand. "Super cool, super handsome--"
"Werewolf traitor?" Aiden finished. Davina's smile fell. Caitlin wasn't sure how to respond. Josh awkwardly cleared his throat. "I'm sorry. That was a dumb joke."
Davina chuckled. "Hey, I was gonna go order some food. Do you like Thai?"
Aiden looked at Josh.
Josh smiled.
"Uh, sure," Aiden told them.
"Great," Davina told them. "Come on, Caitlin."
Davina and Caitlin walked upstairs to the balcony, watching Josh and Aiden from over the railing.
Davina walked out of the door only slightly, calling the Thai place.
Caitlin was looking down at Josh and Aiden.
Josh and Aiden were smiling.
"That wasn't planned at all, was it?" Aiden asked.
"Nope," Josh answered, watching Aiden examine the record player. "Hey, you okay? The werewolf-traitor-thing... is there more trouble with your pack people?"
"Guess we'll find out soon enough," Aiden told him. "I actually called a meeting tonight, for Mikayla and Jackson. So, one way or another, it's all coming to a head."
Josh nodded, walking closer to him. "You know, those people look up to you. I mean, trust me, I've seen you in action. You're a badass." Aiden chuckled. "So, just go in there and tell them what's what."
"I'm not the Alpha," Aiden told him.
"No, but Jackson is," Josh told him. "And, the pack respects both of you, and Mikayla. So, if you stand with him, they will listen. One thing I learned from Marcel and Noah?"
"Hmm?" Aiden asked.
"Loyalty sends a powerful message," Josh told him.
Aiden smiled. "Hmm."
"And, hey, look, if you, uh, get nervous, or, like, need a vote of confidence or whatever?" Josh asked. "Just remember that, uh, I think you're pretty amazing."
Josh straightened the collar of Aiden's shirt. They smiled at each other. After a moment, they started to drift closer. Aiden placed a hand on either of Josh's cheeks, kissing him. They continued to kiss gently for a long moment, until finally, they pulled away, overwhelmingly happy. They kissed again, this time more passionately.
Caitlin applauded loud enough for them to hear. "Whoo!"
They pulled away, laughing.
Josh looked up at Caitlin on the balcony. "Of course, Cait." Caitlin smiled. "You know, I'm a little surprised we don't hear another set of clapping hands right now."
Aiden laughed. "Yeah."
Caitlin looked toward the door that Davina had walked out of the call the Thai place. "Hey, Davina. We can come down, now."
There was no answer.
Caitlin frowned in confusion, walking toward the door, opening it.

Roof
Caitlin walked out onto the roof. "Davina!" Davina was no where to be found. Caitlin looked around in confusion until she saw a fire escape ladder leading to the ground below, realizing that Davina had made her escape, sighing, tilting her head. "Damn it." She saw a figure running closer from the ground in the alley, walking toward the edge of the roof in confusion. "What the hell?" She saw who the figure was. "Auria?" Auria ran closer, looking panicked. Caitlin looked relieved to see her, but worried and alarmed by her appearance. "Auria!"

Lafayette Cemetery - Kol's Playhouse
Davina walked in, pulling out Esther's grimoire, flipping through it, starting to gather supplies for a spell. She found several vials of different colored fluids, a large metal bowl, and some dried herbs, setting them on the table. She crushed the herbs in her fingers, sprinkling them in the bowl with a white, milky-looking liquid. She held out her hands above the bowl, casting a spell. "A verte insiguinae, a tor a ver. A verte insiguinae, a tor a ver. A verte insiguinae, a tor a ver."
The bowl started to spin itself rapidly until the contents had been thoroughly mixed into a black, sludge-like potion.
Davina lifted the bowl, hesitating for a moment, drinking the concoction.
--
Marcel's Loft - Outside
Caitlin had finished climbing down the fire escape, running toward Auria. "Oh, my God. Are you all right?"
Auria was trying to catch her breath. "Caitlin. Where's Marcel and Noah?"
"They're at the compound, torturing Kol and Finn trying to find out what they know about you," Caitlin answered. "We were worried sick about you. Where the hell were you?"
"With Esther," Auria answered.
"What?" Caitlin asked worriedly.
"Don't worry," Auria told her. "I got away."
Caitlin raised her eyebrows in surprise. "You got away?"
Auria turned her back to Caitlin. "I made an illusion of myself to distract her so that I could get away. Okay?" Caitlin noticed something underneath Auria's lace jacket. "I don't know how to explain it. I don't care. I just know that..."
"Wait," Caitlin told her. "There's something on your back."
Auria turned to face her. "What?"
"Take off your jacket," Caitlin told her. Auria was confused, taking off her lace jacket, turning her back to Caitlin. Caitlin noticed a vertical line of what looked like large pin-pricks that ran down the length of Auria's spine, with was visible through the lace of the backless dress. "What is that?"
Auria looked over her shoulder, but couldn't see.
Caitlin was horrified.

Night - Abattoir Compound - Upstairs Living Room
Kaleb/Kol was still in the armchair, still chained.
Marcel was pacing in front of him. "Now, we can keep doing this as long as you want. Or..." He bit his wrist, forcing Kaleb/Kol to drink his blood. "I can kill you now, and turn you into a brand-new baby vampire."
Marcel pulled his wrist away from Kaleb/Kol, picking up a scalpel.
"Go on, do it," Kaleb/Kol told him. "My mother's got plans for me, whether I like it or not. If I die, she'll just pop me into another body. Not that my family will care that much if the death was permanent."
Marcel looked at him for a moment, circling around the chair to face him. "What are you really up to? Hmm? What's it got to do with Auria and Davina?"
"You're so worried about them," Kaleb/Kol told him. "You're madly in love with Auria, and downright paternal with the other, along with Caitlin, the girl who's linked to you, who's life you ruined. You so sure you won't ruin theirs as well?"
Kassandra walked in.
Marcel lost his temper, about to stab Kaleb/Kol.
Kassandra intervened. "Easy, Marcel. Easy. He already thinks that we don't care. Chopping off his head will only serve to prove that statement. Don't you think?"
Kassandra pushed Marcel away.
Kaleb/Kol looked at his sister, sighing. "Eavesdropping, Kassandra?"
Kassandra turned to face him. "Oh, so, I wasn't supposed to know that you've been feeling a little left out? You're desperate to be part of this family, aren't you?" Kaleb/Kol rolled his eyes in frustration, looking down. "All of your mischief was just attempts for attention. You know, the truth is, Kol, you're right to feel slighted. I mean that. For the five hundred years that I had been awake, we were close, were we not? While I was close to them, I was still close to you. The games we played. The havoc we caused." Kaleb/Kol smirked slightly. "And then, when I had the dagger in my chest, all of that was taken away, and you were left with the three siblings that was introverted amongst themselves. But, perhaps, there's still time to make up the lost time to you."
Kaleb/Kol looked at Kassandra in surprise.
Kassandra smiled a small smile.

Out-of-town Diner
(Song:) Do You Remember - Ane Brun
Elijah was sitting alone in a booth. His phone was starting to ring. He pulled it out, seeing that it was Hayley calling. He then noticed a man sitting at the bar, staring at him as his phone continued to ring. Elijah was unnerved, ultimately ignoring the call.
A waitress walked by to refill Elijah's coffee.
Elijah was still suspicious of the man at the bar, looking at the waitress, compelling her. "Tell me, has there been anyone out of the ordinary today?"
"Just you," the waitress answered. Elijah smiled, nudging his mug toward her to top off his coffee. The waitress accidentally spilled some on his wrist and the sleeve of his shirt and jacket. "Oh, I am so sorry. Let me."
Elijah tried his best to remain polite and unbothered, shooing her away as quickly as possible. "It's quite all right. Thank you."
The waitress walked away, leaving.
(Song Ends)
Elijah dabbed at the stain on his sleeve with a napkin, which sent him into flashbacks of his time being tortured by Esther.

Flashback - 2.05 "Red Door"
Elijah's Nightmare
Hallway
Elijah was shirtless and covered in blood, slowly stalking toward the door.
Hayley whimpered in fear, desperately trying to open the door, looking at Elijah in sheer terror, continuing to pound on the door to no avail.
Elijah grabbed her by the arm, turning her to face him.
It was no longer Hayley. It was Nicola.
Elijah was surprised to see her. Nicola looked at Elijah for a long moment, leaning closer to kiss him slowly but sweetly at first, building up in passion and hunger and heat. Elijah returned the kiss at first, grabbing Nicola by the hair, turning her neck toward him, transforming, biting her, feeding. Nicola looked as if she enjoyed feeding him until the pain became too much, screaming in pain.
Lenore/Esther: (voice over from 2.05 Red Door) "I told you to clean yourself up."

Elijah was still scrubbing at the coffee stain, looking toward the waitress and the suspicious man at the bar.
The waitress and the man were watching Elijah.
Elijah was even more paranoid.

Abattoir Compound - Study
Vincent/Finn was still chained up, sitting in the chair.
Noah was sitting nearby, holding up the key to the chains tauntingly, smirking.
Klaus walked in. "So, brother, ready to embrace your new life of freedom?"
"I'm already free, brother," Vincent/Finn told him.
Noah put the key in his pocket. "You're aware your mother cares nothing for you?"
"Noah, I assure you, my mother loves me," Vincent/Finn told him. "She loves all of her children." He looked at Klaus. "We would not exist without her sacrifice." Klaus smirked, not believing him, turning around to walk out of the room. "Do you even know the truth?" Klaus stopped. "That she was barren? And she grew so desperate for a family that she begged one of the most powerful witches in history for help. Her sister, Dahlia. Of course, Dahlia's price was high. She agreed to make our mother fertile, but in exchange, she sought the first born as sacrifice. Having no other choice, our mother gave away our beloved sister Freya."
Klaus turned to look at Vincent/Finn in disbelief. "Our sister died of plague."
"Esther gave her away," Vincent/Finn told them. "Think about that. The pain, the grief."
Klaus approached him, standing inches in front of him. "If what you say is true, then death is far too delicate a fate for her."
"She loves us more than you realize," Vincent/Finn told him.
"And is love the reason she wanted my child dead?" Klaus asked.
"She was trying to protect you from Dahlia's curse," Vincent/Finn told him.
"What curse?" Klaus asked angrily, impatiently.
"Dahlia demanded the first born of every generation," Vincent/Finn told him. "Had your child lived, she would have paid the price. And, if anyone had tried to protect her, Dahlia would come and destroy us all."
Klaus glared at Vincent/Finn.
Vincent/Finn looked almost scared.
Noah didn't know what to believe.

Out-of-town Diner
Elijah was sitting at his booth.
The waitress slowly walked past him.
Rebekah walked inside, carrying Hope in her baby carrier.
Elijah saw them, standing instantly.
Rebekah smiled, walking closer, setting Hope's carrier on the table.
Elijah smiled.
Elijah and Rebekah embraced, pulling away.
Rebekah sat down.
Elijah picked Hope up from her carrier, holding her. "Look at you. So big. So perfect."
Rebekah smiled. "Mm."
"I can't imagine the joy of spending every day with her," Elijah told her. "It's..."
"Quite lovely," Rebekah told him. "It feels so human."
Elijah nodded. "Yes. Some would argue the most human of experiences."
Rebekah sighed. "I know I have to give her back to Hayley when the time is right. But, she's made me realize how much I want a child of my own... that I know I can't have."
Elijah rocked Hope in his arms happily. "It's a lovely dream. Unfortunately, it's one that's just beyond our reach, considering the curse of our existence."
"Seems Esther's attacking with her usual fervor," Rebekah told him in concern.
"Yes," Elijah agreed. "Mother tortured me for days with memories I thought I'd buried long ago, and memories I haven't come to part with." He looked at Rebekah nervously, pausing for a moment before speaking. "Then, she made an offer... to make us all mortal again." Rebekah looked stunned. "You see, sister, Mother believes that by placing us in new bodies, we can then reclaim some kind of... purity. We can begin families of our own again. And, I have to confess, Rebekah... this invitation... however cruel in delivery, had a certain... appeal." Rebekah looked at him sympathetically, stretching her arms across the table so she could take Elijah's free hand in her own. Elijah continued to gaze at Hope, not noticing when Rebekah spotted a smear of blood on the sleeve of his shirt and became even more worried. He noticed her concern, misreading it. "You needn't worry. We're safe."
Rebekah licked her lips, putting on a fake smile, standing, grabbing Hope's blanket. "Looks like this little one needs her diaper changed." Elijah stood so he could hand Hope to her. "Here, my love."
Rebekah took Hope, walking toward the bathroom across the restaurant. She noticed a smear of blood on the counter while she passed it, looking alarmed. She noticed another bloody smear on the door to the kitchen.
The waitress was washing her hands at the nearby sink. She had presumably been compelled to ignore the blood, because she did not seem bothered by it, nor did she seem to mind that Rebekah was about to enter the kitchen.
Rebekah gently opened the kitchen door, looking inside, seeing a dozen bloody, dead bodies strewn about, gasping in horror, turning around, shielding Hope with her blanket to keep her from seeing any of the carnage.
Elijah continued to stand near their table with his back to them, oblivious to what was going on.

Abattoir Compound - Courtyard
Kassandra stood on the balcony, leaving a voicemail for Elijah. "I'm done leaving messages, Elijah. To say that this is urgent would be a gross understatement. We need to speak immediately."
Kassandra hung up, looking into the courtyard below in confusion.
Davina walked in, walking toward Klaus.
Klaus sighed, turning toward her. "I was wondering whether you would show up. I'm afraid I'm not done torturing your darling Kol. You best run along while you still can."
"I'm not going anywhere," Davina told him.
Noah walked downstairs. "Whoa, Davina, today is not the day."
"Actually, Noah, I think it is," Davina told him, twisting her wrist, using magic to snap Noah's neck. Noah's temporarily dead body fell down the stairs. Klaus looked at Davina, unsure of what to do. Kassandra watched from the balcony in curiousness. Davina looked at Klaus. "Looks like it's just you and me now."

St. Anne's Church
The werewolf meeting was taking place in St. Anne's Church.
Jackson was standing at the sacristy, giving his speech to the Crescents. "I know you're angry and scared, but we are a pack. No matter what."
One of the werewolves stood. "You've been checked out for months. Why should we listen to you?"
Aiden stood. "'Cause he's the Alpha. You got a problem with that?"
Mikayla walked down the aisle. "I want to hear what Jackson has to say."
Mikayla reached Jackson's side, smiling a small smile.
"This is a pack meeting," the werewolf told her. "You're not one of us anymore."
"No?" Mikayla asked, starting to transform, holding out her hand to the side of her for them to see. Her nails started to grow out like claws. Her hand started to transform into a wolf paw. Her eyes glowed gold. After a moment, she shifted back into human form. "I am still a wolf. And I didn't need any magical rings to control when or how I change. You want the same? Then sit down, shut up, and listen."
Mikayla smiled, looking at Jackson, pleased.
Jackson looked sort of in awe with her presence and command.
Hayley was standing behind the wolves at the door, watching Mikayla proudly, smiling at her little sister.
--
Abattoir Compound - Courtyard
Kassandra was still on the balcony, watching the confrontation between Davina and Klaus.
"You forget yourself," Klaus told her. "You're not as powerful as you once were, Harvest Girl."
Davina smirked. "Doesn't mean I can't still kick your ass."
Davina raised her hand toward Klaus, using magic to throw him across the room, through the closed double doors, breaking them, shattering them into broken pieces of wood and glass. She walked toward him confidently. When she got to where he had landed on the floor, Klaus had disappeared. Klaus rushed toward her, throwing her down the way through the courtyard. Davina screamed, hitting the wall, hitting her head, falling to the floor. Her forehead started to bleed. She rolled over, standing.
"Such hubris," Klaus told her. "And from one who bleeds so easily."
Davina breathed heavily. "You talk such a big game, but you couldn't even kill Mikael when you had the chance." She laughed darkly. "He was right about you, you know. You're weak."
Klaus rushed toward Davina, pulling her head back, biting her neck, making her scream in pain. After a few drinks of her blood, he started to choke and gasp until he eventually fell unconscious, incapacitated.
Davina smirked in triumph.
Kassandra was stunned speechless, in shock and confused.
--~--
Davina looked at Klaus' unconscious body.
Kassandra was standing next to her.
Marcel and Kaleb/Kol approached them.
Kaleb/Kol rubbed his sore wrists.
Kassandra looked at Davina. "It's impressive. What exactly did you do to him?"
"I channeled dark objects through my blood to poison him," Davina answered, turning toward Kassandra. "Do I need to do the same to you?"
Kassandra raised her eyebrows in amusement, opening her mouth to speak.
Kaleb/Kol interceded before another fight began, looking at Davina. "All right, now, love, there's no reason to be testy toward my sister here. Kassandra's the one that let me out."
"Yeah, against my better judgement," Marcel told them.
Davina looked at Kassandra in confusion. "Why would you let him out?"
Marcel looked at Klaus' body. "Better question is, if he's not dead, then what are you gonna do when he recovers?"
Davina looked at Kassandra. "Like I would say with Kassandra around. Yeah, you may have let Kaleb out, but the other one is still your brother, too."
"Very true," Kassandra told her. "I don't want to hurt you, Davina."
"Ditto," Davina told her. "Out of everyone in your family, you're actually the only who never hurt me. Or Caitlin. Or Marcel. Or Noah. Or Auria."
Kassandra nodded. "So, I will kindly ask that you release my brother."
"No," Davina told her.
"You might want to rethink that, D," Marcel told her. Noah was starting to wake up from his broken neck. "Kol is with us now. We're going up against Esther to find and save Auria, assuming Klaus is... upright."
Davina looked at Kaleb/Kol, confused and slightly betrayed.
"Look, Nik is a pain in the ass, but, well... she's a problem for us all," Kaleb/Kol told her.
"Your brother is the problem," Davina told them angrily. "If it wasn't for him, Auria wouldn't have been taken by your lunatic mother. We don't need him to save her."
Caitlin and Auria walked in.
"Very true," Auria told them. Everyone looked at her in surprise. "Because I did all the saving by myself."
Noah sat up.
Caitlin noticed Klaus' unconscious body and Noah starting to get up. "Should I even ask?"
Noah shrugged, rolling his eyes toward Davina, standing.
Marcel walked toward Auria worriedly, holding her arms. "Are you okay?"
"Not really," Auria answered. "I got away from Esther and went straight back to the loft. Caitlin told me everyone was here, and she told me something else, too."
"There are wounds all up and down her spine," Caitlin told them.
"They're part of this ancient spell," Auria told them.
"And I don't know about you guys, but when I see ancient spell and Esther and Auria in the same sentence, I think it's going to end badly," Caitlin told them.
Davina and Noah looked at Caitlin, knowing that she was right.
Marcel looked at Auria in concern.
--
St. Anne's Church
Jackson and Mikayla were still leading the meeting with the wolves in front of the sacristy.
Hayley was standing by the doors behind the wolves, watching them.
"You all need help, and you know it," Mikayla told them. "Now, whatever it is that you think of me, I was born a Crescent. And I was cursed along with all of you, stuck in wolf form all year long except on the nights of the full moon for four years. I am a Labonair, as is my sister Hayley, but she's already said she's not up for this."
The wolves looked at Hayley.
Hayley shook her head. "It's not like you guys would listen to anything I would say, anyway."
The wolves scoffed and snorted in agreement, turning to Jackson and Mikayla.
"That makes me the last Alpha from the Labonair line," Mikayla told them. She looked at Jackson. "Jackson is your Alpha." She looked at the wolves. "Now, I don't know how many of you bought the story you grew up with, the Unification myth. Well, it is all true." The wolves started to whisper among themselves. Jackson looked at Mikayla. "Which means... if Jackson and I get married, anyone with the guts to turn up to the ceremony has as much control over their wolf form as I do."
The wolves started to whisper loudly.
Jackson leaned closer to Mikayla to whisper to her in her ear. "Mikayla, what are you doing? I told you to think about this."
"I don't need to think about it, Jack," Mikayla told him. They looked at each other for a long moment. Mikayla smiled a small, reassuring smile, turning to the wolves. "This isn't about uniting our pack. It's about forming a new community."
Jackson walked closer, putting an arm around Mikayla. "This ceremony will change everything for us. It will give us the strength we need to defend ourselves." Aiden looked at his moonlight ring. "Then, and only then, can we finally have peace."
Hayley walked down the steps to face the Crescents. "The choice is yours. Keep the rings and be somebody's bitch, or be part of the greatest pack that ever lived." She held her hand toward Jackson and Mikayla. "With the greatest Alphas that ever lived."
Jackson and Mikayla smiled.
The Crescents began to chatter among themselves.
Aiden stood, walking toward Jackson and Mikayla, smiling. "I'm in."
Jackson smiled, nodding.
Aiden took off his moonlight ring, dropping it to the floor.
Mikayla looked at Jackson, smiling.
Jackson nodded.
Hayley smiled proudly.

Abattoir Compound - Courtyard
Auria was sitting on a couch, drinking a glass of water.
Marcel sat next to her.
Noah and Caitlin sat in chairs at the bar.
Davina and Kaleb/Kol examined the puncture wounds on Auria's back.
"That's Mom's work, all right," Kaleb/Kol told them.
Kassandra was kneeling by Klaus' unconscious form, standing. "What does it mean?"
"It's a byproduct of a... preparation spell," Kaleb/Kol answered.
"Preparation for what?" Davina asked.
"To make her a vessel," Kaleb/Kol answered.
Caitlin was confused.
Auria turned toward Kaleb/Kol in alarm. "Esther prepared my body for someone to jump into?"
Davina, Marcel, Noah and Caitlin looked horrified.
"Likely herself," Kassandra told them. "I mean, knowing Mother."
Auria started to breathe heavier in slight anger. "Where's Finn?"
--
Ballroom
Vincent/Finn was hanging from his wrists by his shackles from the stairwell railing.
Auria walked in, walking toward Vincent/Finn, slapping him across the face. "Why me? Out of everyone in this city? Is this the great punishment that your mother cooked up for me?"
Vincent/Finn looked at Auria. "Yes."
"So, my punishment for telling Marcel and Noah about the witches linking Caitlin to Marcel, and trying to stop the Harvest is that someone to jump into my body?" Auria asked incredulously. Vincent/Finn nodded. "Why?"
"Because you're perfect," Vincent/Finn answered. "Healthy, beautiful, smart... and alone. No one would question any personality changes. And it's not just someone taking over your body."
"Then what is it?" Auria asked, trying to calm down.
"It's someone to take over your entire life... with you still conscious," Vincent/Finn answered.
"What?" Auria asked.
"Auria Rayvnne, the free spirit... to have every option of freedom taken away from her, and to be completely aware of it," Vincent/Finn told her. "You'll be aware of every thought of the person that's not supposed to be there, every movement, every breath, every heartbeat. You'll see all the good they will do, and you will see all the bad that they will make you do. And you won't be able to do anything to stop it. A prisoner inside your own mind. Having to live in fear and losing hope that you will ever, ever get free." Auria looked down, trying her best not to show her reaction, but she was horrified. "Terrifying, isn't it?"
Auria looked at Vincent/Finn, instantly becoming furious again. "Fix this. Do something to stop it."
"I can't," Vincent/Finn told her. "Only my mother can."
"I will step in front of a moving truck before I let your mother take over my body," Auria told him.
Vincent/Finn was confused. "She wasn't preparing you for herself, Auria. She was preparing you for Rebekah."
Auria was in shock, turning around.
Marcel was standing in the doorway, looking just as in shock as she was.
Auria sighed, looking overwhelmed and reeling from the day's events.

Out-of-town Diner
Rebekah walked out of the bathroom after changing Hope's diaper, returning to the table with Elijah.
Hope began to whine restlessly, alerting Elijah to their return.
Elijah stood to help Rebekah put Hope back into her carrier.
"Well, she is all sorted, and ready for an adventure," Rebekah told him. She looked at Hope. "Aren't you, my love?"
Elijah watched Rebekah settle Hope into her seat, smiling. "It's difficult to believe we were this innocent once." He sighed deeply. "We mustn't let the world ever hurt her."
Rebekah walked up behind Elijah, watching him suspiciously, rubbing his arm. "You're right. We mustn't."
Rebekah quickly grabbed Elijah by the chin, snapping his neck, letting him fall to the floor. She sighed, looking overwhelmed and reeling with the day's events.

Abattoir Compound - Courtyard
Kassandra, Marcel, Noah, Caitlin, Auria, Davina and Kaleb/Kol were discussing their options nearby Klaus' unconscious body.
"How long do I have?" Auria asked.
"Well, now that Esther knows where Rebekah's hiding... not long," Kaleb/Kol answered. "The only way to stop it is to stop her."
Caitlin took a deep breath. "Then, let's do this." She looked at Kassandra. "You're an Original vampire." She looked at Marcel. "You're a two century old vampire." She looked at Noah. "You're a century old vampire." She looked at Davina, Kaleb/Kol and Auria. "The three of you are powerful witches." She looked at Auria. "I mean, you managed to get away from her."
"Yeah, because I caught her off guard and the only thing I cared about was getting away," Auria told them. "I know that I can't take her down, and even if I do..."
"She'll just bloody body jump," Kassandra finished. "Esther's not to be taken lightly. We got up against her..." She looked at Davina. "We're going to need Klaus."
Davina stood. "No. No, we can do this without him."
"Kassandra's right," Kaleb/Kol told her. "We do need the bastard."
Davina sighed, clearly not happy.
Caitlin walked closer, taking her hands in her own. "Davina, I know this is asking a lot, but this is Auria we're talking about here. This isn't just about the Mikaelsons anymore. This is about our family, too. Auria is our family, and so are Marcel and Noah, and you know it."
"Please, Davina," Auria told her.
Davina knew they were right, unhappy, giving in, walking loser to Klaus' body, kneeling next to him, placing her fingertips on his temple, whispering her spell. "A verte insiguinae, a tor a ver. A verte insiguinae, a tor a ver. A verte insiguinae, a tor a ver."
Klaus woke, rolling onto his side, standing, looking at everyone. "What did she do to me?"
"All you need to know is that I beat you," Davina told him. "Again."
"And, yet, you relented," Klaus told her. "You need me, don't you?" Davina rolled her eyes. Klaus smiled. "Did I really lose?"
Kassandra crossed her arms over her chest, rolling her eyes.

St. Anne's Church
(Song:) Bring Me Back to Life - Extreme Music
Jackson and Mikayla were the only ones in the church now, talking at the altar.
"I'm sorry I sprung that on you," Mikayla told him.
"You know, I always thought it would be me popping the question instead of being the one put on the spot," Jackson told her, smiling. Mikayla chuckled. "Are you sure you want to do this?"
"I am if you are," Mikayla answered.
Jackson stepped closer. "Mikayla, I need you to know something. I stayed away from you because I was trying to protect you. They warned me that they would kill you if I tried to come back. And I knew that I couldn't live with myself if you were killed because of me, Mikayla. So, please don't think that I stayed away because I didn't love you. I stayed away because I do."
Mikayla was surprised and touched, smiling a small smile, taking a deep breath. "When you were exiled from the Quarter... do you know you're the first thing I thought about when I woke up in the morning and the last thing before I went to sleep? Wondering if you were okay. Why weren't you here. Why wouldn't you answer when I called. Where you could be. I'm not only doing this to help our people, Jack. I'm doing this because I love you."
Jackson smiled, taking Mikayla's left hand in his own, holding it gently. "Mikayla Labonair, will you marry me?"
Mikayla smiled, laughing. "No ring?"
They both started to laugh at the good nature between them.
Jackson put a hand on her cheek, smiling a small smile. "I guess this is the part..."
"Just kiss me already," Mikayla told him.
Jackson smiled. Mikayla met him halfway in a kiss. They continued to kiss slowly, sweetly and passionately for a long moment, pulling away, smiling small smiles.

Abattoir Compound - Courtyard
Kaleb/Kol was sitting at a table, eating.
Davina was sitting with him.
"Quite nice of you, coming to my rescue like that," Kaleb/Kol told her.
"You know, it's a good thing you didn't steal the stake from me," Davina told him. "Or I would have been the one torturing you."
"Does that mean you trust me, then?" Kaleb/Kol asked.
Davina smiled, giving Kaleb/Kol a look.
Kaleb/Kol chuckled.
Kassandra walked toward them, looking at Davina. "Provided you're not busy concocting a new paralytic to use against an Original, I'd like a word with my brother."
"Well, to be honest, I trust you more than I trust your brothers," Davina told her, standing, walking away toward where Caitlin was sitting at the bar, sitting next to her.
Kassandra couldn't help but laugh, turning to Kaleb/Kol.
"Kassandra, for the record, I didn't know a bloody thing about Mother's plan for Auria, I swear," Kaleb/Kol told her.
"Well, I think I can judge for myself which of her schemes she would entrust to you, and which she would not," Kassandra told him, sitting across from Kaleb/Kol in an armchair. "I believe this was Finn's task."
Kaleb/Kol leaned back against the couch. "Where, pray tell, is he now?"
"He's waiting uncomfortably for Nik to halt the torture and his punishment," Kassandra answered. "Marcel and Noah are happily helping Nik considering that their precious Auria is in danger. Pass the beignets, will you?"
"You know, it's only a matter of time before Mother gets bored of waiting for you to let us go," Kaleb/Kol told her, handing Kassandra the plate of pastries.
Kassandra took a beignet off the plate. "Thank you."
"Well, Finn, at least," Kaleb/Kol told her. "I don't expect she'd care if I never came home."
Kassandra sighed. "A mother cares for her children. A monster does not. Once you accept she's the latter, you'll stop expecting the former. I, for one, am slightly surprised that this witch is just the second mortal you've fallen for. The first was a pretty little human in Mystic Falls that was able to kill our mother with a crossbow bolt to the heart, when she had saved us all from Esther the first time she returned from the dead."
Kaleb/Kol smirked, shaking his head. "Eliza Forbes. Kassandra, do not start teasing me about Eliza like I'm sure you tease our brothers Nik and Elijah about Kaylin and Nicola Salvatore." Kassandra smiled, also causing Kaleb/Kol to smile. "Although, I wish it was as easy as Eliza firing a crossbow into Mother's heart, I'm sure it's not going to be that easy this time around. Eliza took Mother by surprise then. Only if we had the human fighter Eliza Forbes here with a crossbow and save us all the trouble."
Kassandra and Kaleb/Kol laughed lightly.
Kassandra slowly returned serious. "And, despite what you might think, Kol, I did mourn you after your death. I wanted to avenge you, but Rosalita... she mind controlled the people of Mystic Falls to kill Finn, and to kill you. And she made sure that we wouldn't seek revenge, though I wanted to do everything I could to make sure that Rosa paid for what she died."
"You couldn't have done anything, Sandra," Kaleb/Kol told her. "Rosalita would have gotten into your head as well."
"I know," Kassandra told him. "But I would do nothing less, because you are my brother. Always and forever."
Kaleb/Kol looked at Kassandra in slight shock, nodding.
Kassandra smiled.

Ballroom
Klaus was pacing around in front of Vincent/Finn, Marcel and Noah. His phone rang. He pulled it out, answering. "Where have you been?"
Rebekah's voice was on the other line. "Nik, it's me. Something's wrong." She was still in the diner, standing next to the table where Hope was resting in her carrier, and Elijah was unconscious on the floor with his broken neck. "Elijah slaughtered a dozen people whose only sin was terrible taste in food. I mean, when have you known him to kill when he could otherwise compel?" Kassandra was listening from the courtyard, turning her head to listen more clearly in concern. Klaus looked alarmed. "It's the kind of act that'll draw our mother's attention."
Klaus sighed. "Her torture must have affected him more deeply than we realized. Where is he now?"
"I broke his neck to keep us safe," Rebekah told him. "But I have no idea what to do next."
Klaus sighed, getting angry.

Ballroom
Marcel and Noah had been listening to the phone conversation as well, knowing that things were about to go down, exchanging a look.
Klaus looked at Marcel and Noah, nodding.
Marcel and Noah walked out of the room.
Kassandra walked toward Klaus purposefully.
Klaus looked at Kassandra worriedly, speaking through the phone to Rebekah. "Do you recall where we dined the Christmas after we fled Mikael?"
"Of course," Rebekah answered.
"Go there," Klaus told her. "Now." He hung up angrily, putting his phone away, turning around, walking toward Vincent/Finn. "If you enjoyed last night's activities, then you're in for a treat."
"Niklaus, Kassandra, listen to me," Vincent/Finn told them. "Our mother--"
Kassandra walked closer. "Not another word. No more fairytales about witches and curses."
Vincent/Finn looked at them in confusion. "If you think it's a fairytale, then why do I see fear in both of your eyes?"
"Marcel!" Klaus called. "Noah! Bring it in."
Marcel and Noah returned to the room, dragging in Finn's old coffin behind him.
Klaus pulled Vincent/Finn's chains down, pulling him toward the coffin.
"No!" Vincent/Finn told him. "No! No, Niklaus!"
"Oh, don't worry, brother," Klaus told him. "I made some air holes. Small ones."
Klaus lifted Vincent/Finn, pushing him into the coffin.
Vincent/Finn began to scream in fear.
Kaleb/Kol, Davina, Caitlin and Auria had walked up to the doors of the ballroom to see what was going on, watching in shock.
Marcel, Noah and Klaus closed the lid of the coffin.
Vincent/Finn began to pound on the inside of the door.
Marcel put a padlock on the lid to keep it closed.
Klaus and Kassandra walked past Kaleb/Kol, Marcel, Noah, Davina, Caitlin and Auria, out of the room.

Courtyard
Klaus and Kassandra walked through the courtyard toward the door.
Mikayla and Hayley walked in.
"Klaus, Kassandra, have you seen Elijah?" Mikayla asked. "We have something to tell you guys."
"You can tell us on the way," Klaus told them.
"What?" Hayley asked. "Where are we going?"
Kassandra turned to Mikayla. "To see our niece." She sighed, looking from Klaus to Hayley. "Your daughter."
Hayley was in shock, breathless with eagerness and relief.
Mikayla looked at them in stunned silence.
Klaus and Kassandra looked at them for a moment, walking past them toward the door, walking out, leaving.
Hayley and Mikayla turned after them, looking at each other in silent shock, following them out of the compound instantly, leaving.
