chapter 21 - Fire With Fire

Outfits in the external link

From 2.20 "City Beneath the Sea", in the bell tower, Kassandra walked in to talk to Freya.

Hayley: (voice over) "Previously on Worlds Colliding (The Originals)"

"I will use these ingredients to create a killing ground," Freya told her.

From 2.20 "City Beneath the Sea", in St. James Infirmary, Elijah, Kassandra, Marcel, Noah, Caitlin, Auria, Cami and Eva/Rebekah were talking.

"Our sister wants to use Hope to lure Dahlia into a trap," Kassandra told them.

From 2.20 "City Beneath the Sea", in Kol's Playhouse, Eva/Rebekah, Caitlin, Cami, Davina and Auria were talking.

"If we can find a way to replicate the baby's power source, transferring it into the doll, that's our decoy," Auria told them. "But no powerful witch is gonna be fooled by a doll. We need a heartbeat."

From 2.20 "City Beneath the Sea", in the courtyard, Elijah, Kassandra and Freya were talking.

Kassandra rushed toward Freya, grabbing her hair, pulling her head aside injecting the vial of blood into her neck, making her gasp in surprised pain. She let Freya go, backing away.

"What did you do to me?" Freya asked.

"Hope's blood is now in your system," Elijah told her.

"You are now the bait," Kassandra told her.

From 2.16 "Save My Soul", in Noah's Loft, Noah and Caitlin were talking.

"I want to learn how to fight," Caitlin told him. Noah looked at her curiously. "I don't want to sit around and wait for someone to rescue me. I want to be able to take care of myself. Teach me to be stronger."

Noah looked at Caitlin thoughtfully, nodding. "All right. Anything to keep you safe."

From 2.20 "City Beneath the Sea", in St. James Infirmary, Marcel, Noah, Caitlin and Auria were talking.

"Think about it, Caitlin," Noah told her. "Finn and Eva came after you for power. And this Dahlia chick is obsessed with kids with power."

"You have the untapped, unreachable power of twelve witches writhing inside of you because of the link," Marcel told her. "Even if you can't get to it, I'm willing to bet that Dahlia would be able to rip it out of you."

Eva/Rebekah walked in. "Thanks to Eva Sinclair, I am linked to eight teenage witches. I need to undo the damn spell, but I don't have a clue on how to unlink us."

"That's why I'm here," Auria told her. "I can reverse-engineer Eva's work, but it's gonna take some time." She playfully nudged Eva/Rebekah. "And you're gonna have to do your own magic."

From 2.20 "City Beneath the Sea", in the Rayvnne tomb, Auria and Vincent were talking.

"Auria, the covens need a leader, now that Josephine LaRue's dead," Vincent told her. "Someone who's got faith, someone who will use the craft to help people. Someone who's fearless."

Auria sighed. "You really think that the covens would accept me as Regent after everything that happened?"

"They would be crazy not to except you," Vincent told her. "We all need help. We all need you, Auria."

Auria looked at Vincent, trying her best to cover up her interest in the offer.

From 2.19 "When the Levee Breaks", in Klaus' painting room, Elijah and Klaus were fighting.

Elijah pulled out the golden dagger, driving it into Klaus' chest, making him scream in pain, pushing them both upright, driving the dagger the rest of the way into Klaus' heart.

From 2.20 "City Beneath the Sea", in Dahlia's Mind Space, Klaus and Dahlia were talking.

"Get out of my head," Klaus told her.

"I'm not in your head," Dahlia told him. "You're in mine."

"If you have a deal to propose, then undagger me," Klaus told her.

"You will get to raise your daughter, and I will channel the magic that's been promised to me," Dahlia told him. "Hope's power is not the only I want."

From 2.20 "City Beneath the Sea", in the painting room, Klaus was able to take the dagger out of his heart.

From 2.20 "City Beneath the Sea", in the tomb, Klaus and Dahlia were talking.

"Hayley and Mikayla are attempting to flee," Klaus told her.

Dahlia chuckled, rubbing her bloody fingers together, grabbing a bundle of what looked like lavender, using to stir the bowl of blood. "Mm, don't worry. They won't get far tonight."

From 2.20 "City Beneath the Sea", in the bayou, The mild rain started to turn into a larger storm that was pinning the wolves down where they were.

Mikayla didn't like the feeling of the storm, and she usually loved the rain, knowing that it wasn't natural.

From 2.19 "When the Levee Breaks", in the painting room, Elijah, Kassandra, Eva/Rebekah and Freya were talking

"When he wakes, he will punish us all," Kassandra told them. "Are you ready for that?"

No one answered.

Same Night

Day One

Night - Lafayette Cemetery - Lycee

Auria, Davina and Eva/Rebekah were in the lycee, preparing to unlink Eva's body from Davina and the other New Orleans witch children, sitting together around the altar.

Auria finished lighting the candles.

"All right, then," Eva/Rebekah told them nervously. "Just a little bit of witch business. How difficult can it be?"

Davina smiled encouragingly.

"Now, remember the hard part was Eva linking herself to the kids," Auria told her. "And now, it's your body, so you just do the unlinking yourself." She gestured to the paper on the table. "Read what I wrote, 'Abracadabra', link severed."

Eva/Rebekah nodded. "Lovely. I guess I'm hoping I don't turn us all into a horde of bullfrogs."

Auria, Davina and Eva/Rebekah held hands so that Eva/Rebekah could channel Auria and Davina.

Bourbon Street

(Song:) Sabor! Idio - Sabor! Brass Band

Some sort of festivities were going on, because the streets were filled with people holding Hurricane cups and yelling drunkenly while jazz bands marched and played their tunes. Overhead, thunder and lightning rumbled

A man and a woman happily walked arm in arm. The couple eventually made their down the street, passing Dahlia, who was standing on a corner with a black umbrella.

Dahlia watched them as they turned down an alley.

--

Alley

The couple continued to walk.

The man sang along with the music. "Dah, dah, dah. Dah, dah, dah." He laughed heartily. "Dah, dah." They came upon Klaus, who looked pale and weakened. "Whoa!"

"Good evening," Klaus told them. "I wonder if you could help me? I'm feeling a bit famished."

"I'm sorry, I don't have any change," the woman told him apologetically.

"Well, that's no problem," Klaus told them. "I'll just help myself."

Klaus lunged for the woman, starting to feed violently on her.

Lafayette Cemetery - Lycee

Auria, Davina and Eva/Rebekah were still holding hands, chanting to unlink the spell. "Sai por ce kai sai ma nous couve gran. Sai por ce kai sai ma nous couve gran."

Auria and Davina stopped chanting, looking at Eva/Rebekah.

"Okay, almost there," Davina told her. "Keep going."

Eva/Rebekah continued to chant. "Sai por ce kai sai ma nous couve gran. Sai por ce kai sai ma nous couve gran." Auria, Davina and Eva/Rebekah's hands were magically thrown apart. They looked at each other. "Is it finished?"

Auria pulled out a switchblade, flicking it open, holding it toward Eva/Rebekah. "Only one way to find out."

Eva/Rebekah reluctantly took the blade, slicing her fingertip open. She looked at Davina.

Davina smirked, holding up her wound-free finger, clearly proud of Eva/Rebekah for successfully casting the spell. "If only it would be this easy to unlink Marcel and Caitlin."

Auria chuckled. "Yeah."

They were all relieved.

--

Bourbon Street - Alley

Klaus had just finished feeding on the couple in the alley.

Dahlia joined him. "You must be hungry, considering what you've endured."

"I've never been daggered," Klaus told her. "Never knew it was such an agonizing experience. It does help explain why my siblings loathe me."

"You'll need your strength for what's to come," Dahlia told him. "I suggest you replenish yourself before the storm."

Dahlia smirked, gesturing to the space next to her.

The camera panned over, revealing that Dahlia had used her Kenning Spell to lure another dozen humans to them to allow Klaus to feed on them.

Klaus, with blood smeared around his mouth, grinned in satisfaction.

--

Abattoir Compound - Living Room

Kassandra was leaning against the window, looking out at the now-raging storm.

Elijah was standing by the door.

Freya was waving a sage smudge stick in the air, casting a spell. "Miri benet midicen..."

Caitlin, Noah and Marcel walked in.

"It's done," Caitlin told them. "Rebekah is de-linked from those children, the coven's almost grateful, and we even beat the rain."

"I trust that Auria will play her part," Elijah told them.

"Yeah, against my better judgment," Marcel answered.

"Stop being so overprotective," Noah told him. "If Auria's made regent to all nine covens, she'll be granted the power to break the link between you and Caitlin, and resurrect Kol and the political clout to unite the witches to our cause."

"Don't pop the champagne just yet," Kassandra told them. "Dahlia said she'd come for the baby, and now a storm springs up out of nowhere? You really think that's coincidence?"

"Well, regardless of her power, she needs to be dealt with," Elijah told them, looking at Freya. "Fortunately, we have a weapon."

Freya looked up, still not pleased about her role in the plan.

"Look, no offense, but we are really going to put all our eggs in one still-kinda-mysterious basket?" Marcel asked.

"I assure you, I am quite motivated to aid in Dahlia's defeat," Freya told them. "Particularly now that Kassandra has forced me to be the bait."

"And, if we should fail, Auria and the witches will take up the task, at the very least distracting Dahlia long enough for Hope, Hayley and Mikayla to disappear," Elijah told them.

Kassandra turned away in annoyance, frustrated still with their decisions, walking across the room to close the windows to prevent more rain from coming in. She pulled down the window pane, finding that the top of it was covered in blood, suggesting it was opened specifically for someone to escape.

--

Klaus' Painting Room

Kassandra walked into the room.

The coffin was empty.

Klaus had vanished.

Elijah and Eva/Rebekah followed Kassandra in.

Eva/Rebekah turned to face Kassandra. "Where the hell is he?"

"You think I have something to do with this?" Kassandra asked.

"I think that you wanted to wake Niklaus since you saw him fall under his slumber, Kassandra," Elijah answered.

"If I had undaggered him, you would all have known long before now," Kassandra told them.

They didn't look convinced.

--

Bourbon Street - Alley

Human after human laid dead on the ground in front of Klaus' feet as the torrential rain soaked them all.

Dahlia, who was standing at Klaus' side, looked down at his victims with a smile. "Have you had your fill?"

"Indeed," Klaus answered. He smirked. "I'm beginning to feel like my old self again."

Thunder crashed above him.

Klaus looked up at the sky, allowing the rain to wash the blood off his face.

Worlds Colliding (The Originals)

--

Day Two

Morning - Bayou

The Crescent pack were circling a perimeter out in the pouring rain as they protected a shed where Hayley was taking care of Hope.

Mary and Mikayla were outside, under an awning.

Mary was making a bundle of herbs.

Mikayla sighed anxiously. "Mary, I appreciate you coming, but you should know what you're going up against."

Mary gave Mikayla a look. "An ancient witch wants to steal a baby, and she's threatening anyone who stands in the way, including my grandson and my granddaughter-in-law." She shook her head. "Not on my watch." She held up the bundle of herbs she was making. "I brought you something that might come in handy. In my youth, wolves and witches had a peace." She held a lighter in her free hand. "A voodoo queen I knew showed me how to use herbs to see if magic was afoot. Combine solomon seal and snapdragon and burn them." She took the lighter, lighting the bundle of dried herbs and flowers on fire, setting the smoking bundle in a clay bowl. "If the smoke is white, all's clear. If it's black, there's a hex in the air. And if it's red? Well, then you know you're in trouble." They looked at the smoldering herbs, which was releasing a black smoke. "Just what I thought. This storm ain't natural."

Mikayla sighed. "It's Dahlia. She's trying to pin us down."

Jackson and another werewolf joined them, each of them having a bow in one hand and a quiver of arrows on their backs.

"The road to the highway is flooded," Jackson told them. "The quickest way out of here is on foot, through back roads."

Hayley walked out of the shed, sighing anxiously, overwhelmed.

"What's wrong?" Mikayla asked.

"Elijah called," Hayley told them. "Klaus is gone. Elijah, Kassandra and the rest don't know where he went." She sighed. "We gotta get out of here."

"What about the others?" Mikayla asked, looking at Jackson.

Jackson was as anxious as they were.

--

Later

The Crescent wolves had gathered around to listen to Jackson and Mikayla while they updated them on what was going on.

"All right, everybody," Jackson told them. "Listen up."

Jackson looked at Mikayla.

Mikayla took a deep breath. "I want to thank you all for staying with us. Protecting us. For the past few weeks, each one of you has shown me more kindness than I have ever known. Despite hardships and tragedy, you've all become the family I always wanted. You're my pack." The wolves all nodded, muttering in agreement. Mikayla hesitated. "But, I can't let you risk your lives any more than you already have. The witch is coming. She's powerful, and she's not gonna stop." She looked at Hayley further off where she was holding Hope out of under the rain, for encouragement. "Hayley and I will be better off taking Hope and getting as far away as we can." She had to fight back tears, looking at Jackson. "Alone." The wolves all looked confused, a little hurt. Jackson didn't look surprised, figuring that she would have done this. "I want you to know how grateful I am for everything that you have offered me. Us. But, I can't be your queen anymore."

All of the Crescent wolves knelt to the ground before Mikayla.

Mikayla looked devastated by this response.

Jackson took Mikayla's hand in his, kissing it. "You will always be their queen. And I'm not letting you leave alone."

Mikayla managed a small smile, unsurprised, knowing that Jackson would have done that.

--

Abattoir Compound - Hallway

Kassandra was pacing around the upper hallways of the abattoir compound, on the phone.

Cami's voice was on the other line."What do you mean, he's gone?"

"Exactly that," Kassandra answered. "The coffin's empty, and he is nowhere to be found. Everyone had half a mind that I was behind his recent disappearance, but if I was, I wouldn't lie about it. If I had to guess, I'd say he's planning a long list of cruel and unusual punishments for his treacherous siblings." She sighed. "Given that we have an ancient witch to kill, I was hoping you might try and reason with him. Ideally, before he goes ballistic."

"I'm flattered, I guess, but what exactly am I supposed to say to him?" Cami asked.

"Look, anything is better than nothing, as long as it comes from you," Kassandra told her. "You're the only person he'll listen to."

"Your brother is an unstable, paranoid narcissist with chronic mood issues and zero impulse control," Cami told her. "Right now, he's furious because the people he loves most literally stabbed him in the heart. That is his worst fear come true. What makes you think he'll listen to anyone, least of all me?"

"Please, Cami," Kassandra told her in annoyance. "You were able to talk him out of killing Mikael months ago. I'm sure that you'll figure something out. Will you help us or not?"

Cami steeled herself by taking a deep breath, looking determined. "Yeah. I'll try."

--

St. Louis Cathedral - Bell Tower

Klaus was looking out the window of the bell tower at the pounding rain.

Dahlia paced impatiently behind him.

Klaus' phone rang, but when he saw it was Cami, he ignored the call.

"My deadline has come and gone, and yet you bring me here," Dahlia told him.

"I find it fitting," Klaus told her. "This is where Freya plotted her own treachery."

"When I granted you the strength to overcome that dagger's curse, I assumed you would thank me by taking swift and merciless action," Dahlia told him.

"Am I to traipse around in this monsoon you created?" Klaus asked.

Dahlia rubbed her hands together, blowing on them, which seemed to cause Klaus a momentary degree of pain. "This storm is to stop your family from running with the child. So, I wonder... are you having second thoughts about standing against them? They are the family, after all, who left you here to rot."

Klaus turned to face Dahlia, scowling angrily. "I assure you, there are no second thoughts."

"We struck a bargain for the benefit of your child, so that she would be delivered to me safely and be content by the presence of her father," Dahlia told him. "Make no mistake. I will take her. With or without you."

Klaus smirked. "Let me be clear about one thing, witch." Dahlia rolled her eyes dramatically. "You need me. I know my siblings better than anyone. Their strengths, their weaknesses. They are a powerful and determined lot. Perhaps capable of evading you for the short year you have until your slumber begins anew." Dahlia sighed in frustration, knowing that he was right. "You may well lose everything. But, I know how to vanquish those who stand against us, and that is exactly what I intend to do."

Dahlia sighed, curling her hand into a fist, which reversed the spell that caused the storm.

Klaus noticed the wind had died down, smirking.

"The storm has served its purpose," Dahlia told him. "Now, enough delays. I will take what is owed to me, and if the mother or the aunt resist, or attempt to run, I will kill them myself."

"I wouldn't worry about that," Klaus told her. He turned to leave. "What I have planned for Hayley and Mikayla are far worse than death."

Klaus walked out, leaving.

Dahlia watched him go curiously.

--

Abattoir Compound - Courtyard

Elijah, Eva/Rebekah and Kassandra were still in the abattoir, in the courtyard.

"Until Niklaus is found, Marcel and Noah and their men will scour the city," Elijah told them.

"Assuming Nik doesn't slaughter them," Kassandra told them. "You know as well as I do he'll be on the warpath. Which again raises the question why none of you ever listened to me and let me take the dagger out myself without threatening to put another into my own heart."

"Kassandra, enough, please," Elijah told her.

"It's enough when I say it's enough," Kassandra told them. "I've never been a girl who said, 'I told you so', but I'll take that chance right about now before something bad happens."

"How in the hell is he even awake?" Eva/Rebekah asked.

They walked past Klaus' three paintings, which contained Norwegian soil and Mikael's ashes that were hung in the courtyard, about to walk up the stairs.

Freya walked closer. "It was Dahlia. This was all part of her plan. No doubt, she killed Aiden, hoping that the blame would fall on Klaus, the family would divide, and she could win Klaus to her cause."

"That is absurd," Eva/Rebekah told her. "Nik would never align with Dahlia."

Freya shook her head patronizingly. "You continue to defend him."

"He'd kill anyone who'd try to take his daughter," Eva/Rebekah told them.

"Isn't it Hayley who's trying to take his daughter?" Freya asked.

"Their daughter," Elijah corrected. "Let's not forget that Dahlia is the true enemy here."

Freya smiled fakely. "How good, then, that I finished my spell." She walked over to one of the three paintings, which was hung on an easel. "The paint of his artwork, combined with my blood, will render Dahlia vulnerable. The moment she passes between these paintings..." She gestured to the other two paintings that were hung on the opposite walls. "She will be mortal." She pull the small blade that Kassandra had given her for Mikael's memorial out of her pocket, handing it to her. "You can kill her... using this."

Kassandra looked over the blade. "Father's knife?"

"I thought it appropriate," Freya told them.

Eva/Rebekah smiled a small smile.

 St. James Infirmary

(Song:) Bon Temps Rouler - Mama Rosin

Noah and Caitlin were training. Caitlin tried to punch him. Noah ducked, swinging toward her. Caitlin ducked to the side.

"So, the dagger was magically pulled out of Klaus' chest, and now he's MIA," Caitlin told him. "And Auria is gonna become the Regent of the witches so she can have enough power to bring Kol back and break the link."

"Pretty much," Noah answered.

"Okay," Caitlin told him. "Great. Fan-freaking-tastic."

"Don't worry about it," Noah told her. "Here, you're still safe. Marcel said for us to meet him here. Until then, you and I get to train like you wanted me to teach you." Caitlin tried to punch Noah. Noah caught her fist before it hit his chest. "I would say 'you hit like a girl', but you're human, so I'll give you some slack." Caitlin pulled her hand away. "So, let's try this again, shall we? Fighting is rhythm. There is a music, there is a meter, there is a pattern. Let that rhythm beat within you. Again." Caitlin tried to punch Noah twice. Noah used vampire speed to block the moves. "Nice try." Caitlin moved faster, punching Noah in the stomach trying to punch him in the face. Noah ducked, swinging toward her. Caitlin ducked, trying to punch him with both arms. Noah raised his arms to catch her arms. Caitlin took a step back, running her hands through her hair, sighing, taking Noah off guard by kicking him in the stomach, punching him in the chest, spinning to try to punch him again. Noah rushed around her to make her miss. Caitlin looked around for him, sensing him stop behind her, turning to try to backhand punch him in the head. Noah raised his arm to block the move. Caitlin kneed him in the stomach, trying to punch him. Noah caught her arm. "And then, once you've established your cadence..."

Caitlin spun free from the hold, pushing Noah against the wall with an arm across his chest and her other hand resting over his heart. "You change the key."

"Very nice," Noah told her. "Now, the head or the heart? None of this means anything if you can't make the kill."

Caitlin took her hand off his chest. "Noah... What if I can't do it?"

Noah grabbed her hand, putting it over his heart again. "Caitlin, you have staked a vampire keeping you in the compound so that you could stop Klaus from killing your friend by stabbing him with a mystical knife designed for unending torment. You can do it, to survive. You have weapons at your disposal. A stake, a knife, a sword. You have the means to end a vampire's life, and all you have to figure out is how. So, the head or the heart?"

Caitlin and Noah looked at each other breathlessly, speechlessly, lost in each other and the heat of the moment.

Caitlin leaned closer to kiss Noah for a moment, pulling away, remaining close, leaving her eyes closed. "The heart."

Caitlin and Noah slowly opened their eyes to look at each other.

(Song Ends)

Klaus walked in. "You two are just adorable." Caitlin and Noah looked at him in alarm, backing away. Noah stood between them. "You might be safe here from Dahlia, yes. Safe from me on the other hand? I would think not. This place keeps you safe from magic, not vampires, and certainly not hybrids."

"Now, before you get angry--" Noah started.

Klaus rushed closer, gripping Noah by the throat. "I'm well past angry, Noah. I'm mad with rage. But today is your lucky day, because I'm not gonna kill you. No, I need something from you, so instead, I'm gonna take the solace in the anticipation of ripping it out of you." He snapped Noah's neck, letting him fall to the floor, turning to Caitlin, smirking. "Hello, Caitlin."

Caitlin looked at him angrily but nervously.

--~--

Abattoir Compound - Courtyard

Elijah, Eva/Rebekah, Freya and Kassandra were in the courtyard.

Freya was sprinkling herbs over the clay golem.

"Now, you're certain this will work?" Elijah asked.

"Let's not toss around words like 'certain'," Kassandra told them.

Freya continued sprinkling herbs on the doll. "Nonsense. Rebekah grows more adept with magic each day, and this spell is flawless. Though, I might have preferred that you, Kassandra, ask my permission before volunteering me as the bait."

Kassandra shrugged, amused. "Yes, well, I'm not in the habit of asking permission."

Freya smiled. "No matter. We have all that we need. Rebekah will perform the spell, using my heartbeat and the golem to craft the illusion of Hope's presence." She turned to Kassandra. "Once Dahlia is lured into the killing ground, Kassandra will do what is necessary."

"You're rather, calm, which is odd, because there are a million ways this plan can fall to pieces," Elijah told her.

Freya smiled, pacing, examining each of the painted portraits of Elijah, Klaus, Rebekah and Kassandra that were hanging on the walls. "I admit. First, I was upset when you ignored my plan in favor of your own. You are all so determined to protect Hope at all cost. Perhaps I'm envious. No one ever fought so hard to protect me." She turned to Elijah and Kassandra. "Then, I recalled the day you all swore an oath to stand by one another. Always and forever. There's strength in such vows."

"I can assure you, it has not been free of consequence," Elijah told her.

"That is an understatement," Eva/Rebekah told them. "Ask me, that vow has been more trouble than it's worth."

Freya walked closer. "And yet, here you are. Proving my point. Family defines you, even if it demands sacrifice." She took one hand of Eva/Rebekah's, and one hand of Kassandra's. "My entire life, I have longed for what you have. It is better to at least glimpse it, facing death, than run forever and know nothing of family."

Eva/Rebekah smiled affectionately.

Kassandra was impressed.

Freya turned to look at Elijah.

Elijah seemed touched.

--

Marcel's Loft - Living Room

Caitlin woke up in the loft, leaning against the wall of windows behind her. Her arms were cut and bleeding.

Marcel and Noah were bound with ropes, hanging upside down from the ceiling.

Klaus shook Marcel and Noah awake. "Wakey, wakey. I was getting bored, but then some of your associates popped by to keep me entertained."

Marcel struggled angrily. "Keep them out of it."

"Easy, easy," Klaus told him mockingly. "You, Noah and Caitlin suffered a substantial amount of blood loss. I had to excise the vervain from your systems. I can't have you impervious to my compulsion, now, can I?" He stabbed Marcel in the side with the knife, making him groan in pain. Caitlin felt the mirror wound appear in her side, more blood spilling and gathering in her shirt, making her gasp. Noah continued to struggle to get out of his restraints. Klaus turned toward Caitlin, suddenly getting an idea. "Hello, pretty. I think you're gonna come in rather useful later on."

Dahlia was standing nearby, walking toward Caitlin, kneeling next to her. "Hello, my dear. For a thousand years, I don't think I've come across such a creature as you."

"If this is about the link and power..." Caitlin trailed off weakly. "Bite me."

Klaus chuckled in amusement. "I should have warned you, Aunt Dahlia. Caitlin there has a tongue and a tendency of making members of our family angry."

Dahlia hovered a hand over Caitlin's chest. "I can feel the power. So deep inside, so far from your reach. But I take what I want. And right now... I want everything." Caitlin shifted uncomfortably in pain, trying to get away from her weakly. Dahlia smirked, holding her pendant around her neck, much like Freya's pendant, using magic to heal Caitlin. Caitlin gasped in relief, looking toward Marcel to see that he was healed faster than any vampire healed because of the spell. Dahlia stood, turning to face Klaus. "We've got what we came for."

"You've got what you've come for," Klaus corrected. "This is all part of my plan. My family, powerful though they may be, are bound by love. Vows of friendship and..." He rolled his eyes. "Nauseating romantic entanglements. All of which I intend to use against them." Dahlia understood where he was going with this, walking toward Klaus, smiling. "Marcellus and Noah will help turn the tide, mark my words. At day's end, they will be laid low, and my daughter will be safe. With us."

Noah glared, looking toward Caitlin, nodding.

Caitlin stood, running out of the room.

Klaus smirked in amusement, sighing, rushing out of the room to follow her.

--

Parlor

Caitlin ran into the room, toward the exit.

Klaus rushed to stand in Caitlin's way, blocking her path. "We both knew that wasn't going to work." He walked closer. Caitlin backed away apprehensively. Klaus smirked in amusement. "Now, no need to be difficult. But then you wouldn't be Caitlin Harris is you weren't, would you?" Caitlin didn't answer, glaring. Klaus stepped closer, compelling her. "You will do exactly as  I say when I say it. Do you understand me?"

"Yes," Caitlin answered.

Klaus smirked.

Lafayette Cemetery - Lycee

Vincent and Auria were talking.

"Listen, Auria," Vincent told her. "The Rite of Supplication is just a formality. You meet the Elders, and you show a little bit of respect. They only listened to me when they thought I was accepting the job, and if it's gonna be you, we've gotta grease some wheels."

"The covens aren't just gonna choose me," Auria told him. "And, I mean, for that matter, why'd they want you?"

Vincent sighed. "Because they think I'm a selfless saint who betrayed his wife to save a bunch of kids." Auria raised her eyebrows. "Hmm. And, if I've got no one to answer to, I'm less inclined to play favorites. Basically, I'm an outsider. Just like you."

"You know, they hate me so much because I tried to stop the Harvest," Auria told him. "And tried to stop the Harris' and the Rubidouxs' from linking Caitlin Harris to Marcel Gerard, working with him and Noah Dumaine to try to stop them. Tried to stop them from sacrificing four innocent 16-year old girls, including Davina Claire, for nothing, and they turned three of them into psychopaths. And tried to stop them from sentencing a 13-year-old girl to a lifetime of pain."

"Yeah, and there's reason you'd have the power to make sure nothing like that ever happens again," Vincent told her.

Auria sighed, nodding. "Okay. I'll do it. If they'll have me, I'll be their Regent."

Vincent nodded.

Auria exhaled, a little nervous.

Bayou

Now that the storm spell had been broken, the sun was shining.

The wolves made it to the Mississippi River, stopping to determine the best route to take to continue on the journey.

Mary had a small tin lantern in her hand, in which she had placed several bundles of burning Solomon seal and snapdragon to monitor the magic in the area.

Hayley looked at Mikayla. "This is it."

Mikayla nodded. "Yeah." She turned to Jackson. "Tell the others they can go. We'll be fine from here."

Mary and the rest of the wolves continued to follow behind them.

"Well, they said they're not leaving us till we get where we're going," Jackson told them, shrugging.

Mary held up the tin lantern with the burning herbs that were producing white smoke, indicating that there was no magic around them. "So far, so good."

Hope started to cry.

Hayley rocked Hope to soothe her. "It's okay."

Mikayla looked over the river to determine where to cross. "What do you think?"

"Get across, head for the highway, steal a car, and just go," Jackson answered. He looked at Mikayla, smiling a small smile. Mikayla frowned worriedly. Jackson became concerned. "You okay?"

"I didn't marry you just to make our people strong," Mikayla told him. "I married you because I love you. I love the pack, Jack. I'm sick of other people making sacrifices for me. Fighting my battles."

Jackson turned to face Mikayla. "Mikayla. That's what family is. They're the people you are born to. And the people you choose, to stand beside you when things are hard. And there's no place I'd rather be than right beside you. Okay?"

Mikayla was touched by what he said, overwhelmed by everything that was happening.

The French Quarter

The bells of St. Louis Cathedral started to ring in Dahlia's tune.

The sound echoed through the Quarter, into the abattoir compound.

--

Abattoir Compound - Courtyard

Freya was looking at Hope's car seat, which had the golem inside of it.

--

Living Room

Eva/Rebekah was casting the spell to create the illusion that Hope and her magic were located in the compound with them.

Elijah was standing upstairs with Eva/Rebekah, watching her anxiously.

Eva/Rebekah raised her arms, beginning to recite the incantation."Sinete exa vana vintate com. Sinete exa vana vintate com."

--

Courtyard

Kassandra stood on the balcony above the courtyard, holding Mikael's knife.

Freya picked up the golem, looking at it.

The spell kicked in.

The golem appeared to be Hope.

Freya held the imitation of their niece in her arms, waiting anxiously for the plan to begin.

--

Living Room

Elijah continued to watch Eva/Rebekah.

Eva/Rebekah continued to cast her spell. "Vana vintate com."

--

Courtyard

Dahlia walked in.

Kassandra stayed hidden up on the balcony, where she could see them but they couldn't see her.

Freya was purposely standing right in between all three of Klaus' paintings in an effort to lure Dahlia into the killing ground, holding 'Hope', looking scared.

Dahlia stopped right in the doorway to the room. "I come all this way to collect hat is owed to me, and whom should I find?"

"Auntie, please listen," Freya told her. "I betrayed my siblings so I could procure this child."

Dahlia started to walk into the courtyard, but once again stopped just short of the killing ground.

--

Living Room

Elijah walked out of the room.

Eva/Rebekah continued her spell to maintain the illusion of Hope's presence. "Sinete exa vana vintate com. Sinete exa vana vintate com."

--

Courtyard

Freya pretended to plead with Dahlia. "I offer to her to you now, and in exchange, I only ask that you release me from my obligation to you."

Dahlia tilted her head, noticing one of Klaus' paintings on the wall behind Freya. After a moment, she started to walk closer to Freya, but still didn't cross into the killing ground.

Kassandra braced herself for a fight, holding Mikael's knife tightly in her hand.

Dahlia looked at Freya in amusement. "How curious, that you should bargain with me for that which is already mine. But, by all means, make your case for why you should be freed. And then I will decide whether to release you or kill you, once and for all."

Bayou

The wolves were all in the middle of crossing the Mississippi River, where the water was shallow and not very wide.

Jackson was helping other wolves cross, kids and women, mostly. "It's getting slippery over here. Be careful."

Hayley was holding Hope, crossing the river with Mikayla.

Mikayla was helping, keeping a supportive hand on Hope's back until they made it to the other side, catching up quickly.

They heard the sound of a honking horn, turning toward it, walking up to the road.

A wolf had procured a white truck for them to drive. "Look what I got."

They were all relieved that they had transportation.

"Okay," Mikayla told them, turning to the others. "Let's go."

The wolves began to load up in the truck.

--

Lafayette Cemetery

The Elders of the nine New Orleans covens had arrived to the cemetery, where they were all chatting with each other while Vincent attempted to pitch his plan to have Auria become Regent.

Auria leaned boredly against the nearby tomb, rolling her eyes at the witches as they argued amongst themselves.

"Okay," Vincent told them impatiently. "Okay, listen. Listen to me, please. Listen to me please, now." The Elders reluctantly quieted down, but they all gave him looks that indicated they were not at all pleased by what he was about to say. Vincent gestured to Auria. "Now, this lady serves as an opportunity for all of us."

"Auria Rayvnne aligned with the vampires," Elder 1 told him. "She told the King of the Quarter, Marcel Gerard, her lover, and Noah Dumaine of the Harvest and the linking ceremony of Caitlin Harris, and they destroyed it. How many witches died because of her?"

Auria was about to make a retort.

Vincent cut Auria off, trying to smooth things over. "Caitlin Harris has been sentenced to a lifetime of pain because of the witches. And the Harvest Girls died for nothing. They were sacrificed for nothing, and all of you know this. She was just trying to save them. She didn't mean for any witches to die. After everything, Josephine LaRue forgave her after she saved her life and saved those nine children's lives. She took down Eva Sinclair and unlinked the children from her body. And Josephine told us that the Ancestors weren't trying to punish her. She told us that they were testing her, and it might very well be for this very reason."

"She is no Regent," Elder 1 told him. "That role was meant for you."

"And I already told you, I ain't gonna do it," Vincent told them in frustration.

"You recuse yourself and instead offer an inferior candidate?" Elder 1 asked. "A candidate whose parents were killers? She could just as easily become them."

Auria finally lost her temper, offended. "Hey."

Vincent tried to cut Auria off in hopes of salvaging his plan. "Auria."

Auria pushed past Vincent to approach the Elders. "No, I've stood here long enough. My whole life, the witches of this city have lived in fear. Vampires run wild, children are sacrificed. Nobody took charge. Now, be honest. Have any of you ever stood up to the vampires? The Mikaelsons? The werewolves?" The Elders looked at each other in embarrassment, but said nothing. "No? Well, I have, and I have won. Now, I might be an outsider to all of you, but the truth is, I know better than anyone here what we're really up against. And, I can help build a peace, or I can burn our enemies to the ground." Vincent looked at Auria, smiling, clearly impressed by her confidence and determination, giving Elder 1 a significant look. "And be honest, all of you. Can you say that the vampires and only the vampires are the true monsters in this city? The witches have put children to death, sacrificed them, for nothing. The wolves wanted their untriggered children to kill officials in this city and have them trigger their curses. And the Human Faction turned their cheek throughout all of it, and some of them even helped bathe in it. Now, I know that I am not a saint, but neither are any of you. Some of your wrongs outweigh mine by a landslide. What Vincent said was true. Josephine forgave me, and she said that the Ancestors were testing me. All of this was a test, and I want to figure out what I've been tested so long for. And who knows? Maybe they're testing all of you, too. And don't you want to figure out what for?" Everyone looked a little tempted, ashamed. "The question isn't whether or not I should be made Regent. The question is... what the hell would you do without me?"

Auria looked intensely out the crowd, a smirk playing over her lips.

Abattoir Compound - Living Room

Eva/Rebekah was still casting the illusion spell. "Sinete exa vana vintate com. Sinete exa vana vintate com."

--

Courtyard

Kassandra was still in wait in the shadows on the balcony outside of the courtyard, listening and watching carefully.

Dahlia stepped closer to Freya and 'Hope', though she still had not made it into the killing ground. "You surprise me. Betraying the family you meant to coax to you side? How very ruthless of you."

"I had hoped that they would welcome me as a sister," Freya told her. Dahlia nodded in understanding. "I was wrong."

Dahlia feigned sympathy. "Of course you were, you poor little fool. To think that Esther's wicked little progeny could ever care for you? They are known the world over for obscene acts of violence, and yet, you sought them out instead of staying where you belong. With me." Freya swallowed nervously, trying her best to remain still to lure Dahlia into the killing ground. Dahlia continued to slowly walk toward her. "I offered you to protect you for all time, and you left me. And now, it is you is alone. But then..."

--

Hallway

Elijah made his way quietly toward the courtyard.

--

Living Room

Eva/Rebekah was continuing to perform the spell to create Hope's illusion. "Sinete exa vana vintate com. Sinete exa vana..."

A dark figure swooped across the doorway, but because Eva/Rebekah's eyes were closed, she didn't notice it.

--

Courtyard

Kassandra was still watching Dahlia and Freya.

Dahlia looked at Freya. "Who could love a deceitful little wretch?"

Dahlia stepped just outside of the killing ground, stopping where she was, not crossing into the past the front edge of the painting.

--

Living Room

Eva/Rebekah was continuing to perform the spell. "Sineste exa--" She stopped chanting when she sensed someone in the room with her. Marcel appeared, looking exhausted, breathing heavily, holding the cursed shackles, clearly compelled by Klaus, though he tried his best to resist. "Marcel?"

"I'm sorry," Marcel told her.

Eva/Rebekah looked at him in confusion.

Marcel rushed toward Eva/Rebekah, putting the shackles onto her so she couldn't use magic and forcing her to stop the spell.

--

Courtyard

The enchanted golem crumbled into dust in Freya's arms, revealing to Dahlia that it was just a trap. She looked up, gasping, fearful and terrified beyond all measure.

Dahlia was enraged and appalled. "What have you done?"

Freya grabbed Dahlia, pulling her into the killing field. "Kassandra, now!"

Kassandra rushed into the courtyard, toward them in attempt to kill Dahlia.

Klaus rushed toward Kassandra, tackling her aside, making them both roll over the floor, making her drop the blade. Klaus and Kassandra stood, turning to face the other. Klaus rushed toward Kassandra, pushing her against the wall hard enough to make the wall crack at impact and her fall to the floor.

Dahlia looked at Freya contemptuously. "You treacherous little shrew." She tried to use magic against Freya, but since they were within the killing ground, she couldn't. Noah rushed toward Freya, biting her on the neck, feeding, making her scream. Freya tried to use magic, but she couldn't. Dahlia smirked. "I may be powerless within the killing ground, my dear, but so are you."

Noah didn't kill Freya, letting her fall to the floor, angry that he couldn't fight the compulsion.

Dahlia smirked.

Klaus gripped Kassandra by the throat, pushing her against the wall.

"She's controlling you," Kassandra told him. "You have to fight her."

"The only thing she did is pull out the dagger my family stuck in my heart," Klaus told her. "How about one goes into yours?" Klaus took out a dagger, trying to dagger Kassandra. Kassandra held the dagger away barely at enough strength, turning it away so she could elbow Klaus in the face, punching him in the face with the other arm, kicking him in the stomach so hard that he slammed against the wall on the other side of the room, making him fall to the floor. Klaus rushed toward Kassandra. Kassandra punched him several times in the stomach, slamming him into another wall, shattering the concrete that covered the bricks in the process. Klaus lost his temper, rushing toward Kassandra, biting her on the neck. "Sorry, sister. Just need a bit of a distraction. And something to get you weak enough to stop fighting back. I'm sure you can understand that, Kassandra."

Klaus snapped Kassandra's neck, letting her fall unconscious.

Elijah rushed toward him. "Kassandra! Niklaus, no!"

"And so the wheels of betrayal circles around once more," Klaus told him, throwing Elijah against the wall, making him fall, rushing toward him, gripping him by the throat, pushing him against the railing.

Elijah broke free, punching him in the face twice, kicking him into the wall, kneeing him in the stomach twice.

Freya was gasping for breath on the floor, holding her bleeding neck, trying to crawl outside the killing ground.

Noah stood in her way.

Dahlia approached her. "After all I've given you, this is how you repay me? A death trap? Rendered by those elements that compose my sole weakness? And even in this, you fail." Freya looked at Dahlia fearfully as she stood above her. "What do I sense? Sacred soil? Viking ash? The blood of a witch I loved?" Freya tried to crawl backward, crawling back into Noah. Noah grabbed Freya by her shoulders, making her stand. Freya was terrified, powerless. "Not the witch I loved most, though." Dahlia sighed, feigning sympathy. "Oh, Freya. Did you think that your blood was the key to my demise?"

Freya had tears in her eyes. "I only wanted to be free."

Dahlia glared at her. "You pathetic girl." Freya was crying, starting to whimper in fear and anticipation for what would happen to her. "You know what the hybrid compelled you to do, Noah. What are you waiting for?"

Noah glared at Dahlia angrily, trying to fight against the compulsion, transforming, biting Freya on the neck, feeding again, making her scream, but while still in the killing ground, she was still powerless, feeding until she was technically dead for now, letting her body fall to the floor.

Klaus and Elijah were still fighting viciously on the balcony, trading blows. They gripped each other by the throats. Klaus pushed Elijah against the wall.

Elijah gasped for breath. "She will take everything from us."

"You took everything when you broke our vow," Klaus told him, choking Elijah even tighter, twisting his arm backwards, breaking many of his bones, making him groan in agony. "Perhaps I'll take something from you. More than a day in a box this time, my brother." He smirked gleefully. Elijah elbowed Klaus in the face forcefully, breaking free, tacking him to the floor. They fell down the stairs into the courtyard, standing quickly, looking at Kassandra's unconscious, bitten body nearby. Elijah got into a defensive position, transforming, hissing and baring his fangs at his brother. "Is that a hint of the fable beast behind the read door? Come on, brother. Let him out to play." Elijah jumped toward Klaus, punching him forcefully in the head. Klaus easily spun, wrapping an arm around him, quickly stabbing Elijah in the heart with Papa Tunde's Blade. "You should know better than to fight me in anger, for my anger is unending."

Elijah tried his best to break out of Klaus' grip, but he was quickly overwhelmed by the excruciating pain of the cursed blade, screaming in agony as the blade magically embedded itself in his chest.

Cami walked in, both stunned and horrified to see Klaus doing this to Elijah and Kassandra. "Klaus."

Klaus looked momentarily ashamed at the sight of her, pushing it down, regaining his appearance of evilness, looking at Cami in annoyance, letting Elijah's body fall to the floor next to Kassandra. "You shouldn't have come here, Camille."

Cami walked closer determinedly. "I came here because you need me. You need me to tell you that this? This is not you. And I know you are hurt, but please listen to me." Dahlia walked closer. "You are better than this."

Dahlia rolled her eyes. "Is there a problem?"

"Not at all," Klaus answered. "Just another victim."

Klaus walked toward Cami.

Cami, although scared, stood her ground. "No. I know you won't hurt me. I've known that from the second we met." Klaus stopped in front of her. Cami sighed. "I trust you."

Klaus caressed Cami's cheek with his hand. "Then you're already lost."

Klaus bit Cami on the neck, feeding on her in front of Dahlia, making her scream.

Noah had to look away.

Klaus stopped feeding, releasing Cami, letting her fall to the floor, unconscious.

--~--

Cami, Freya, Elijah and Kassandra all laid unconscious.

Dahlia walked toward Klaus and Noah. "Quite a sinister plot they had planned. Would have failed in the end, though. Just as well you came to your senses and sided with me."

Marcel dragged a struggling Eva/Rebekah, who had been restrained with the cursed shackles, into the room with him.

Eva/Rebekah looked at Klaus in furious betrayal. "Have you lost your mind?"

"My mind is quite clear," Klaus told her. "I just decided to purge it of treacherous barnacles."

Eva/Rebekah shook her head contemptuously.  "You bastard." Marcel hated having to be under Klaus' compulsion. "How could you?"

"Actually, it was rather simple," Klaus told her. "I just recalled what Elijah did to me and reciprocated ten-fold, to him and Kassandra. Be careful, or I'll apply the same equation to you." Marcel continued to hold Eva/Rebekah back. Dahlia seemed amused. "Marcellus, keep Rebekah here. If she tries to leave? Well..." Klaus looked at Eva/Rebekah. "You do like life as a mortal." He looked at Marcel. "You can punish her by taking that life away. Noah, if you would be so kind to keep Freya's body within the killing ground, so that when she wakes up, she will be powerless to defend herself against you while you kill her a second time? And then again. And then again. Until I say otherwise."

Klaus walked toward the door.

"Go to hell," Marcel told him furiously.

Klaus turned to face them. "If by hell, you mean somewhere you are betrayed by those you hold most dear, then it's from hell I've just come. I didn't much care for it." He compelled Marcel and Noah. "Do as you're told, just as Caitlin is doing as she's told. There's good lads."

Dahlia stepped over Elijah's body on her way to join Klaus. "The child's still cloaked. I shall need your blood to track her, Hayley and Mikayla."

"Actually, being as Auria Rayvnne is the one that cloaked them, there's a million to one chance that you would be able to break the cloaking spell," Klaus told her. "Which is why I compelled Caitlin to tell me what she knows, and she knew that the wolves were heading out to a junkyard, nearby the Mississippi River the last time she had heard. With the help of Caitlin, we'll find them in no time."

"Leave Caitlin out of this," Noah told him furiously.

"But where's the fun in that, Noah?" Klaus asked.

Eva/Rebekah was struggling against Marcel. "No! Nik, don't!"

Marcel dragged Eva/Rebekah upstairs.

Noah glared at Klaus.

Night - Junkyard

The wolves were holed up in the junkyard, setting up shop until they determined their destination.

Mikayla was giving some final orders before she headed inside. "Keep your eyes peeled."

--

Inside

Mikayla walked inside toward Hayley.

Hayley was looking at some maps by the light of a lantern on a table.

"So, the guys set up a perimeter," Mikayla told her. "We'll keep first watch. You should get some rest."

"No," Hayley told her. "Hope's finally sleeping. Mary's watching her, which means we have five minutes to think."

Mikayla chuckled without humor, exhausted. "Okay, what's on your mind?"

"I wanna decide where we're going," Hayley answered. "I don't want to send our lives like this. Always on the run, looking over our shoulders everywhere we go..."

"If that's what we got to do..." Mikayla trailed off.

"I know, and I'm not afraid," Hayley told her. "I just... I want something better for her. For us." Mikayla nodded in understanding. "So, what do you think? Montana? North Dakota? Washington?"

"Somewhere warm," Mikayla answered. "Possibly with a beach." Hayley smiled a small smile. Mikayla hesitated, looking down. "Just, uh... if they can defeat Dahlia, then maybe... I know that you said that you didn't want to raise Hope with the Mikaelsons, because of all their enemies, but with Dahlia gone, then with them is the safest place she can be. I hate myself saying it, Hayley, but Klaus will come after us. And if they're together, like Elijah and Kassandra are suggesting, then we don't stand a chance."

"So, what?" Hayley asked. "You think that if they can kill Dahlia, that we go back?"

"Don't you think that's the thing that can save the most lives?" Mikayla asked. "Klaus Mikaelson doesn't care about a lot of things, Hayley, but he loves that baby girl. And she's his daughter, too. He's not going to stop looking for us until he finds her, and you know that he gets vengeful."

Hayley nodded barely. "Yeah, maybe you're right." She shook her head. "But I don't want my baby girl to be raised around people like them."

Mikayla sighed, looking down.

Abattoir Compound - Klaus' Study

Eva/Rebekah and Marcel were talking.

Eva/Rebekah was trying to look for a loophole they could exploit, sighing. "Think it through. If I try to go, you kill me." She held up her shackled wrists. "If I remove these..."

"That is the same as trying to go," Marcel told her.

"Can't you fight the compulsion?" Eva/Rebekah asked.

"He bled the vervain out of my body," Marcel told her. "Not just mine, but Caitlin's, and Noah's, too."

Eva/Rebekah thought about this for a moment. "Maybe this is all part of Nik's twisted revenge. He doesn't mean for me to die. He wants you to kill this body so I wake up in the original, robbing me of my one chance to have everything I want. Children, my promise to Kol."

"Then we don't give him what he wants, all right?" Marcel asked. "Don't run, and I won't hurt you."

"I won't let that witch get her hands on my niece, which means we're gonna have to do this the hard way," Eva/Rebekah told him determinedly.

Marcel, not wanting to hurt Eva/Rebekah, looked alarmed and anxious.

--

Courtyard

Noah was sitting in the killing ground nearby Freya's body, waiting. He looked toward Elijah and Kassandra's unconscious bodies.

Freya started to wake up within the killing ground, powerless.

Noah sighed, standing, walking closer. "Sorry about this."

Freya looked around in confusion. "What?"

Noah snapped Freya's neck, letting her fall, sitting on the stool nearby, impatiently waiting.

--

Junkyard - Inside

Hayley and Mikayla were checking on Hope inside, smiling small smiles.

They heard one of the wolves screaming in agony from outside, jumping.

--

Outside

The wolves were gathered, defensive.

Hayley and Mikayla rushed outside to see what was happening, standing with the other wolves.

Klaus had ripped the wolf's throat out with his own fingers.

Mikayla was horrified.

Klaus was satisfied. "Good evening, Crescents. It will come as no surprise to learn that things will not be ending well for you."

Mikayla stood in front of Hayley, looking at her, whispering. "Go back inside. Get Hope and Mary out of here."

"I can help you," Hayley told her.

"I'll be right behind you," Mikayla told her.

Hayley looked at Mikayla desperately, shaking her head worriedly. "Mikayla..."

"Just get Hope, and run," Mikayla told her. "If he's here, you now that Dahlia is, too."

Hayley hesitated, not wanting to leave her behind.

Mikayla nodded.

Hayley rushed away.

Mikayla turned toward Klaus to see that the wolves had him surrounded.

"Let's take him," Jackson told them.

Klaus smirked, looking toward Mikayla.

Mikayla looked at him expressionlessly, knowing that she was going to fight anyone and everyone to protect her sister and her niece, even if it meant fighting against Klaus.

--~--

Klaus pushed a wolf head first through a car window, making it shatter, tossing him aside. He turned toward another wolf, pushing him against a tree.

Two wolves restrained Klaus from either side.

Jackson aimed his bow and arrow, shooting him in the chest.

Klaus groaned in pain, pushing the two wolves off of him to the train cars on either side of them, making them fall to the ground. He pulled the arrow out of his chest. "You think you can defeat me with your toys?"

"We're just getting warmed up," Jackson told him.

Mikayla walked closer. "I don't want to fight you, Klaus, but I'm not going to let you kill my pack, and I won't let you hurt Hayley and Hope."

Klaus walked closer to Mikayla. "Quite the queen. So Hayley runs, and you hold the line. How valiant. I can honestly admit that I will never stop being surprised by the sisterly love, the bond that the two of you share. I heard the two of you talking inside. How you were trying to convince your sister to come back to us after we defeated Dahlia. You are the smarter of the two of you, even though you still go along with your sister's plan because of me and my aunt coming for you. So skeptic of your sister's plan but so loyal all the same. But one day, Mikayla, you must realize that it might very well be the death of you."

"Maybe so," Mikayla told him. "But it's not going to be today."

Mikayla let her eyes glow gold and veins crawl underneath.

--

Elsewhere

Hayley had just met up with Mary and Hope and explained their current situation.

"What about Jackson and Mikayla?" Mary asked.

"They and the others will meet us up the road," Hayley told her. She was suddenly distracted by the sight of Mary's lantern full of Solomon seal and snapdragon, which was currently producing red smoke, gasping. "Oh! It's her, Dahlia."

"All the more reason to go," Mary told her.

Hayley was completely overwhelmed, starting to cry.

--

Abattoir Compound - Klaus' Study

Marcel and Eva/Rebekah were still arguing about Eva/Rebekah's plan.

"That's not happening," Marcel told her. "End of discussion."

"Think about it," Eva/Rebekah told him. "Why did Mother want to destroy my true body? Answer. To ensure I could never go back, meaning if something happens to this one, my spirit's default is to jump back to the original."

"Yeah, but do you really want to bet your life on that?" Marcel asked.

"Of course I don't want to," Eva/Rebekah answered. "That's part of Nik's maniacal plan. He's not leaving me a choice."

"Oh, what if he just wants you dead?" Marcel asked.

Eva/Rebekah shook her head. "No. However angry he is, I know my brother. Endless torment? Fine. But he will never let me die." Marcel sighed in frustration, starting to pace around, hating the idea. "So, all we have to do is just play this out. I try to go, you kill me..." Marcel gave her a look, pointing at her. "And then... I wake up in my true body."

Eva/Rebekah ran toward the door.

Marcel pushed her back, looking frantic. "Don't make me do this, all right? I don't want to hurt you, but if you don't back down, I won't be able to stop myself."

Marcel looked at her in concern.

Eva/Rebekah couldn't help but smile. "Marcel Gerard. Even if you have moved on to a new love in Auria Rayvnne, you still do care for me." She paused for a moment, seeing how anxious and scared Marcel looked, sighing. "Well, the least I can to is save you from the awful act itself."

Eva/Rebekah grabbed a letter opener from the desk, stabbing herself in the neck with it.

Marcel rushed closer. "No!"

Marcel caught Eva/Rebekah as she fell.

Eva/Rebekah gasped, dying in his arms.

Junkyard

Mikayla punched Klaus in the face. Klaus tried to punch her. Mikayla ducked, kneeing him in the stomach, standing. Klaus punched lifted Mikayla by the waist, slamming her to the ground.

Jackson punched Klaus in the head from behind. Klaus turned to face Jackson. Jackson punched him in the face, making him turn away. Klaus turned to him, backhand punching him in the face hard enough to make him fall to the ground. Jackson and Mikayla stood at the same time.

Klaus looked at Jackson. "Oh, you've gotten stronger. I reckon you've gone from field mouse to lapdog."

"Come on, then," Jackson told him.

Klaus stepped toward Jackson.

Mikayla rushed to stand between them, punching Klaus in the face, making him turn away. Klaus turned toward Mikayla, trying to punch her. Mikayla raised an arm to block the move, trying to punch him. Klaus caught her wrist, holding it above her head. Mikayla spun to kick him in the leg, making him kneel to the ground. Jackson helped Mikayla flip Klaus to the ground. Jackson tried to pin him down with a foot to his chest. Klaus caught his leg, using it to push Jackson into Mikayla, making them both fall to the ground several feet away.

Jackson and Mikayla stood.

Dahlia walked closer. "Enough."

"Why is she with you, Klaus?" Mikayla asked.

"Unlike your sister, he's doing what is best for his daughter," Dahlia told her.

"I'm gonna tear you apart," Mikayla told her, walking closer. Dahlia raised her arms at her sides. Mikayla felt her bones starting to break, gasping in pain, falling to the ground. Every other wolf's bones started to break, making them fall to their knees. "What are you doing to us?"

"Oh, this?" Klaus asked, walking closer to Mikayla. "No, this was my idea. Stealing from Noah, the Crescent curse he once used on your pack. Dahlia was all too happy to make the necessary adjustments... to accommodate your hybrid nature, Mikayla. Yours and your sister's." He knelt in front of Mikayla as their bones continued to break. "Now, you will be trapped in wolf form, safe for the full moon. Leaving you very little time to cause any further mischief." The wolves' bones continued to break and snap, turning more animal, making them all scream and yell in pain. "And because of the Unification Ritual linking you to your pack, now they will share your fate, queen. As will Hayley."

--

On the Road - Mary's Truck

Mary was driving.

Hayley was in the passenger seat.

Hope was in the backseat, in her carseat.

Hayley looked at Hope worriedly, anxiously.

The spell causing the other wolves to turn started to affect Mary and Hayley as well. They began to painfully transform into their wolf form.

Mary was forced to pull over.

--

Outside

Hayley and Mary got out of the car, falling to the ground, leaving Hope alone in her car seat.

Hayley screamed in pain from having to transform, terrified. "No. No! What's happening?"

--

Junkyard

All of the wolves were still transforming as Klaus and Dahlia watched.

Klaus was still kneeling in front of Mikayla.

Mikayla groaned in pain, looking up. "Hayley's with Hope."

"She won't be for long," Klaus told her, standing.

"Please," Mikayla told him. "Please don't do this, Klaus." She looked toward Dahlia. "She's going to steal your daughter."

"It was Hayley who tried to steal my child," Klaus told her. "And you and your pack tried to help her. Even though you tried to talk her out of it, Mikayla. And for that, you will suffer."

Every wolf and Mikayla continued to transform, canines growing and eyes glowing, screaming, groaning, yelling in pain, growling and roaring as they took on their wolf forms instead of their human.

Lafayette Cemetery

All of the witches of the nine covens were gathered in front of the lycee with lanterns for Auria's ascension to Regent.

Auria was dressed in a long, regal, teal cotton dress with a length of black ribbon tied around her neck, her hair pulled back into an updo, walking down the aisle toward the altar. She reached the end of the aisle.

Davina handed Auria a large torch.

Auria carried the torch with her to the front of the crowd. "Fellow witches of New Orleans, the Ancestors call us here today to bear witness as I accept the role of Regent to our people. Should any among you have cause to argue my acceptance of this role, now is your final chance to speak." She paused, waiting for any opposition. No one said anything. Auria smirked. "Then it's settled." Davina smiled proudly. Auria took the torch, using it to light the oil that filled a stone basin at the front of the altar. Davina stepped forward, handing Auria a small blade to replace it. "Not too long ago, a coven had linked 13 year old girl to a vampire that ran the Quarter in attempt to kill them both, sentencing her to a life of pain. Every coven sacrificed four children for nothing, and when I had tried to save them, they exiled me. Feeling betrayed, I fled from New Orleans and traveled across the world to learn the things that I know, things that none of you would ever know without the help of me. When I came, the witches were brutal, and I sided with the vampires against the monsters that the witches really were. But tonight, I say let the past be the past. From now on, everything changes. No unnecessary death, no sacrifices, no secret agendas. From now on, we stand together against anyone who dare hold us down. Even Klaus Mikaelson himself. Here and now." Auria unsheathed the blade. "Begins the time of the witches."

Auria cut her palm with the blade, dripping her blood into the fire flinging the rest in so hard that it caused the fire to flare up. She took her place in the front of the aisle, looking out upon the covens, smirking.

On the Road

Caitlin had found Mary's truck in the middle of the road that had been abandoned when Mary and Hayley had been forced to turn. She ran closer to the truck, finding Hope in the back. "Hey." Hope was crying. Caitlin picked her up out of the car seat, gently rocking her to calm her down. "It's gonna be okay." Hope started to calm down. Caitlin sighed, completely overwhelmed, pulling out her phone, making a call. "Noah?"

Noah was sitting in the courtyard with Cami, Freya and Elijah's unconscious bodies. "Caitlin? Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine," Caitlin answered. "Klaus placed the curse on the wolves, including Hayley and Mikayla. I found Hope. He told me to call you to tell you otherwise. You can stop hurting Freya now. Do you remember what he told us earlier?"

Noah was confused for a moment, but the compulsion allowed him to remember. "Yes."

"Good," Caitlin told him. "I think it's time you share that plan with our friends now."

Caitlin hung up.

Noah hung up, remembering everything, realizing that it all made sense now, but it didn't make him any less angry. He walked toward Elijah's unconscious body, punching his hand into his chest to pull out Papa Tunde's blade out, making him groan in agony. He walked toward Cami, biting his wrist, feeding her his blood to heal her.

On the Road

Caitlin was sitting in the back of the truck, holding Hope.

Klaus and Dahlia walked closer.

Caitlin glared at them.

"In another life, you may have made a decent babysitter," Klaus told her.

"Bite me," Caitlin told him.

Klaus smirked. "You should know by now it's not a good idea to tempt Mikaelsons, Caitlin."

Caitlin rolled her eyes, looking away.

Dahlia looked at Hope. "And there she is." Klaus turned to face Dahlia, standing between them. Dahlia realized she may have come on too strong, trying to backpedal. "Such a beautiful child. I want to thank you for your hand in procuring this for me. It must not have been easy, betraying your family and friends."

"I will not see my daughter handed over like the spoils of some war," Klaus told her. Dahlia looked confused. "To that end, I remind you of your promise. You will protect and mentor Hope, drawing from her only what power you require to keep her safe."

Noah was waiting.

Elijah, Cami and Freya all started to wake.

Freya knew exactly what was happening this time, sliding away from Noah, holding her hand toward him threateningly "Take another step, Noah, and I will turn you into ash."

Noah held up his hands in a harmless gesture. "It's okay. I'm told that I can stop now."

Freya sighed. "I should have known Niklaus would have compelled you to kill me over and over."

"That's not the only reason why he compelled me today," Noah told them.

Elijah stood, looking around. "Where's Kassandra?"

"Kassandra is being influenced by werewolf venom from when Klaus bit her," Noah told them. "She's hallucinating and hungry."

The French Quarter

Kassandra bit a man on the neck, starting to feed ravenously. After she was done with the man, she fed from a girl until she was dead, letting her body fall. Her mouth and chin were drenched with blood, and she was still starving and thirsty.

On the Road

Caitlin was still in the truck, holding Hope.

Klaus was still standing in front of them, facing Dahlia.

"I will bond her to me first," Dahlia told him. "Once I can channel Hope's power, I will be able to keep her safe from all harm. Always under my protection. And I will derive most of my power from Caitlin."

"I think not," Klaus told her.

Dahlia looked at him, clearly alarmed by this reaction.

The French Quarter - Alley

Kassandra was in yet another alley, feeding on yet another body.

On the Road

Caitlin was still in the truck, holding Hope.

Klaus was still standing in front of them, facing Dahlia. "You offered an alliance that would benefit my daughter, and now you wish to link to her, even though you yourself still suffer from that sleep spell? I will not lose my daughter to that affliction."

Dahlia sighed, struggling to remain patient. "Their power combined, I will be able to free myself from that spell, as I said."

"And if you fail?" Klaus asked. "Or if their power is not strong enough?" He looked at Caitlin and Hope. Hope was now calmly watching from Caitlin's arms. "Hope is, after all, but a child. And the spell linking Caitlin to Marcel may in fact be powerful, and Caitlin may have that power running through her veins, since she is the center of the link. You want to condemn her to your fate, while there is so obvious an alternative?"

Elijah, Noah, Cami and Freya were talking.

"This?" Noah asked. "All of this? It's a trick."

"Noah, either you have lost your mind, or he has," Cami told him.

"He needs her to trust him, so Caitlin and Klaus can do what they need to do," Noah told them.

Elijah looked at him in confusion. "What do they need to do?"

--

On the Road

Caitlin was still in the truck, holding Hope.

Klaus was still standing in front of them, facing Dahlia. "If you require power to be immortal without the need to sleep for centuries, then why not channel one who already has eternal life?" Dahlia seemed conflicted by the offer. Klaus smiled. "I am already linked to a vampire named Alex Gilbert in Mystic Falls. Bond yourself to me, the immortal hybrid. Once your sleep spell is broken, then, and only then, may you link yourself to the girls."

Dahlia considered.

Klaus turned to look at Caitlin and Hope, hiding them mostly from Dahlia's view.

Caitlin smirked bitterly.

Elijah, Noah, Cami and Freya were talking.

"No way in hell am I trying to defend that bastard, but he had to make it look convincing," Noah told them.

"What?" Freya asked. "To--to--to what possible end?"

"He told me her secret, and then he compelled me to forget until Caitlin told me it was time to remember," Noah told them. "I know how we can kill Dahlia."

Elijah, Cami and Freya looked at Noah in shock.

Noah nodded.

Tiny pieces that looked like snowflakes fell down around them.

Dahlia used magic to direct the fragments into the mouths of Elijah, Klaus, Kassandra and Rebekah as they breathed. They all coughed, gasping in pain as the fragments worked their way agonizingly through their bodies, into their lungs, making them breathe it throughout their whole bodies. Their veins became visibly red and irritated.
