chapter 2 - Alive and Kicking
Outfits in the external link
From 1.01 "Always and Forever", in the Quarter, Klaus, Kassandra and Elijah were sitting on the bench.
Elijah: (voice over) "Previously on Worlds Colliding (The Originals) and Worlds Colliding (The Vampire Diaries)"
"This town was my home once," Klaus told them. "I want it back."
From Worlds Colliding (The Vampire Diaries) 3.17 "Break On Through", in the woods, Kaylin and Nicola Salvatore were speaking to Rosalita.
"I am making sure that the Originals die," Rosalita told them. "I am mind controlling you and all of your friends to kill them."
From Worlds Colliding (The Vampire Diaries) 3.18 "Murder of One", outside the Grill, Matt Donovan staked Finn in the heart with a white oak stake. His body caught fire as he died.
Rosalita: (voice over from Worlds Colliding (The Vampire Diaries) 3.18 Murder of One) "Even if you two can't go through with killing the Originals, your friends and your family will."
From Worlds Colliding (The Vampire Diaries) 4.11 "Catch Me If You Can", outside the Gilbert House, Rosalita was mind controlling Elena, Liv and Jeremy Gilbert. "If you kill Kol..."
From Worlds Colliding (The Vampire Diaries) 4.12 "A View to Kill", in the kitchen of the Gilbert House, Alex Gilbert and Cristian Hunter were restraining Kol. Liv was spraying vervain water on him. Rosalita was mind controlling Kol to stop fighting so that he wouldn't kill them, so that they could kill him. Jeremy staed Kol in the heart with the white oak stake.
Rosalita: (voice over from Worlds Colliding (The Vampire Diaries) 4.11 Catch Me If You Can) "His entire sire line will die with him."
From World Colliding (The Vampire Diaries) 4.23 "Graduation", in the high school's boiler room, Kol was speaking to Bonnie Bennett, Tory Donovan and Lindsey Davis. "A figment of Rosalita's mind control on me. I used to want to do anything to make her happy. Now I would very much like to destroy everything she built as revenge."
From 2.01 "Rebirth", in Marcel's Loft, Klaus, Marcel, Noah, Caitlin and Joe were talking.
"We need to regain control of the city," Klaus told them.
From 2.01 "Rebirth", in Marcel's Loft, Marcel, Noah and Caitlin were talking.
"We're fighting for the soul of the city," Noah told her.
From 2.01 "Rebirth", outside the loft, Noah addressed the potential vampires. "The offer still exists to join us."
From 1.22 "From a Cradle to a Grave", in the attic, Mikael was covered in blood, looking at Davina angrily. "You brought me back to kill my son."
"When I'm ready, not a minute before," Davina told him.
From 1.22 "From a Cradle to a Grave", in flashback to the cemetery, the Rubidoux witches had linked Young Caitlin to Marcel.
Savannah Harris looked at David Harris. "David, now!"
David stabbed Young Caitlin in the back, making her scream, but he missed her heart.
Savannah seemed frightened yet angry, grabbing a blade, approaching her daughter to kill her.
Young Caitlin cringed back, crying.
Caitlin: (voice over from 1.22 From a Cradle to a Grave) "My parents offered me up for the witches to link me to Marcel, and they tried to kill him so that the witches and the humans could have control over New Orleans again."
From 1.22 "From a Cradle to a Grave", in Marcel's Loft, Noah and Caitlin were talking. Noah stopped within inches of Caitlin.
Caitlin looked as if the denial had final went away and she let the truth sink it. She started to cry silently. "My parents tried to kill me."
Noah wrapped his arms around Caitlin in regret.
Caitlin cried into his shoulder, unmoving.
From 1.22 "From a Cradle to a Grave", outside the plantation, Cassie/Esther and Vincent/Finn stood by Esther's grave.
Kassandra: (voice over from 1.22 From a Cradle to a Grave) "We should have known our mother would not be bound by anything as obvious as death."
Cassie/Esther looked at Vincent/Finn. "We have much to do."
Vincent/Finn nodded in agreement. "Yes, Mother."
From 2.01 "Rebirth", outside the record store, Kaleb/Kol smirked, holding his hand toward Davina. "I'm Kaleb."
Davina shook his hand. "Davina."
From 2.01 "Rebirth", in the lycee, Cassie/Esther, Vincent/Finn and Kaleb/Kol were talking.
"Finn, Kol, we have a family reunion to plan," Cassie/Esther told them.
From 2.01 "Rebirth", in the Quarter, the werewolves that had Mikayla restrained with chains dragged her up to Francesca. They let the weight of the chains around her ankles and wrists make her fall, walking away.
Francesca slit Mikayla's throat widely.
Hayley saw, freezing midfight in the midst of the dying werewolves and the ones fighting on their side, in the middle of the flames that couldn't kill her, enraged. "Mikayla!"
Mikayla gasped in pain, gasping for breath, blood pouring from her throat, slowly falling.
From 2.01 "Rebirth", in Mikayla's room, Mikayla gasped herself back to life, sitting up.
Hayley held Mikayla's arms to calm her down, sighing in relief.
Hayley held the vial of Hope's blood toward Mikayla.
Mikayla sighed, closing her eyes, taking the blood in the vial as she would take alcohol in a shot glass. She opened her eyes. They were glowing gold. Veins started to crawl underneath her eyes. She closed her eyes, blinking the glowing gold away. The veins disappeared before she opened her eyes.
Mikayla: (voice over from 1.22 From a Cradle to a Grave) "Whatever it takes to save our family."

Flashback 1 - 1702
Cadiz, Spain
Night - Village
In the distance, a fire raged in the village, while two men on horseback fled from the threat.
--
Cottage
Dozens of dead bodies were strewn around the floor. Blood was everywhere.
Klaus and Elijah walked in.
Klaus looked around at the bodies angrily. "Kol!"
Klaus and Elijah were disgusted by the bloody scene.
Elijah sighed. "All of my efforts to keep this family concealed. Yet, debauchery like this had led Father directly to us."
"Kol?" Klaus called. "Show yourself. This is no time for games."
Kol stumbled into the room, still feeding on a woman as she whimpered in fear. Once he had fed on her to death, he let her body fall to the floor. He smiled, gesturing to his brothers. "Come, come, brothers. It's always time for games."
Kol took a drink from a nearby mug of alcohol, raising it toward them in a toast.
"We must leave," Elijah told him. "Mikael is very nearly upon us."
Kol sat down, propping his feet on the table. "If Mikael were upon us, I imagine Niklaus would be quite dead."
"I barely escaped," Klaus told him angrily. "Father left the head of my horse on a pike in the town square."
"He killed poor Theo?" Kol asked tauntingly. "What a beast. But, then, Father's always hated you most. Surely he'll chase you if you flee, leaving me here. Perhaps I'll make myself mayor?"
"Rebekah, Kassandra and Finn have already boarded the ship," Elijah told him. "It is imperative that we remain together."
Kol stood, walking toward them. "Rebekah does what she's told because she fears Nik. And Kassandra and Finn are in no position to argue, given the daggers in their hearts." He smiled. "I'll take my chances here."
(Song:) Go - Meg Myers
Kol turned to walk away.
Elijah appeared in his way.
Kol turned to the other direction.
Klaus stood in his way.
Kol realized what they were intending, his eyes widening slightly in alarm.
"I find it amusing that you think you have a choice," Klaus told him, pulling out a dagger, holding it up to Kol's chest.
Elijah held Kol down, restraining him from behind.
"No!" Kol told them furiously. "I swear to you, the day will come when I'm not so easily subdued. And, on that day, I will make you suffer."
"Perhaps," Klaus told him. "But today is not that day."
Klaus pushed the dagger into Kol's heart, making him scream in pain and begin to desiccate.

Now
Day One
Morning - The French Quarter
Kaleb/Kol walked down the streets of the Quarter, smirking. He saw a pretty girl in a sundress walking down the street while she spoke on her phone, using magic to create a gust of wind that blew her skirt up, much to her embarrassment and his enjoyment. He walked across the street, stealing an apple from a fruit stand.
The owner started to protest. "Hey! You can't--"
Kaleb/Kol used magic to knock all of the apples onto the sidewalk so the man was too distracted to make a scene. He stopped when he saw Davina walk out of a coffee shop and hail a cab, taking a bite of his apple while he watched her.

Worlds Colliding (The Originals)
--
Abattoir Compound - Courtyard
Elijah returned home to find a pool of blood on the floor of the courtyard. He walked toward it to take a closer look.
There was a trail of paw prints that eventually turned into human footprints. The prints led to a dead woman's body, which was propped up against the fountain.
--
Bathroom
Elijah followed another trail of footprints to the bathroom.
Hayley was taking a bubble bath.
Another body was propped up against the wall next to the tub.
Hayley looked at Elijah. "Come to check up on me?"
"You've had an eventful evening," Elijah told her.
"I was having a crappy day, so Klaus took me out to the Cauldron," Hayley told him. "Wouldn't you know, we ran into some witches?"
"So, would you like me to remove your leftovers?" Elijah asked sarcastically, stepping over the body, into the bathroom.
Hayley rolled her eyes, standing up in the tub, not at all concerned about Elijah seeing her naked, bubble-covered body.
Elijah was clearly not pleased, looking away, reaching for a towel, handing it to Hayley.
"Oh, don't judge, Elijah," Hayley told him. "What I did is no worse than anything Klaus has ever done."
"I would hope that you would hold yourself to a higher standard than Niklaus," Elijah told her in concerned exasperation.
"I'm a hybrid now, and I have a werewolf temper to go with my new appetite," Hayley told him. "And the witches who tried to kill my baby are worth nothing more than food. Excuse me."
Hayley took the towel from Elijah, wrapping it around herself, walking past Elijah toward her room to change.
--
Courtyard
Klaus, Elijah and Kassandra stood amidst the blood and bodies in the courtyard.
Mikayla walked down the steps behind them, her presence not yet known to the siblings. As a newly transitioned hybrid, it was slightly more than tempting than it was to the Originals.
Elijah looked at Klaus incredulously. "You took her on a witch hunt?"
"I simply wanted to persuade those witches to locate the white oak stake for me," Klaus explained. "When they proved unable to do so, I let Hayley have her fun."
"She grows more savage by the day," Elijah told them. "Can you not see that she is falling apart?"
"Perhaps the problem is your high standards?" Kassandra suggested. "Hayley is one of us now, as is Mikayla, who is lingering about, fighting the urge to drink the remnants of the dead witches' blood surrounding us." Mikayla looked at her in surprise, not realization that she had noticed her. Kassandra smirked. "Looks like you could use a drink."
"Not in the mood," Mikayla told them.
"Be honest now, Mikayla," Klaus told her. "Being a vampire only exaggerated what you truly are, and wolves are wild things. Maybe you should let go, embrace this as your sister has. You should have seen her last night. Covered in witches' blood and smiling from ear to ear. Perhaps if you did, you wouldn't be in denial about what your kind has forced upon you."
"They didn't--" Mikayla started.
"It was only Francesca who killed you, right?" Klaus asked. "Even as your whole clan watched you die."
"Not my whole pack," Mikayla told them. "Some of them, the ones who didn't pledge their loyalty to the Guerreras, are still in the bayou. Maybe I can get to them, reach out to them before they take the witches' deals, and we can have them on our side. And you saw the wolves that night. You saw that my words got to them in a way that Francesca's never did. There's still hope."
"Sure, you'll just pop in, suddenly back from the dead and make them all stop dead in their tracks," Kassandra told her sarcastically.
"Hey, at least I'm doing something even when I'm dead," Mikayla replied.
Klaus tilted his head in acknowledgement. "Well, at least we have a headliner that people won't be able to look past." He stepped closer to Mikayla. "But, make no mistake, little wolf. You are not the same girl that they watched die, and trying to remain that person is only going to bring you disappointment and defeat." He looked at Elijah. "Just as Hayley knows she can never live up to the pretty little picture you paint of her in your head. Your judgment only hurts her ore. A little less criticism from you, and Hayley will be just fine."
"Niklaus, the mother of your child deserves much better than just fine," Elijah told him in exasperation.
Klaus and Elijah glared at each other.
Kassandra rolled her eyes, looking at Klaus. "Nik, you and Hayley will accompany Mikayla to the bayou. Find any remaining wolves." She looked at Mikayla. "Perhaps, what you're trying to do, trying to reach the wolves, maybe they can reach her in return."
Mikayla crossed her arms over her chest, looking at Elijah and Kassandra. "And what exactly are you two gonna do? Kassandra? Elijah?"
"To see what we can do about finding the white oak stake so we won't have to live in fear of it being used on us, and most likely finding the witch that is holding this city in fear," Elijah answered.
Elijah and Kassandra walked out, leaving.
Mikayla looked at Klaus. "If you are gonna follow me to the bayou to visit my pack, then can we at least do it my way?"
Klaus looked at Mikayla in amusement.

Across the River / Algiers
(Song:) Upbeat Jazz Piece - Steven O'Brien
The streets of the neighborhood were packed with musicians playing instruments, while others sold merchandise in stalls.
Noah was playing a trumpet, getting really into the song.
The tough-looking woman from 2.01 Rebirth was playing bango drums.
Elijah and Kassandra stood further down the street, listening to the song, looking at the gathering of potential vampire recruits.
Caitlin was standing outside the loft, listening to the song, looking at Noah, unaware of Elijah and Kassandra's arrival.
Marcel walked out of the loft, standing next to Caitlin, looking from Noah and the group to Caitlin.
Caitlin shook her head barely, innocently, turning around, walking inside.
Noah and the tough-looking woman ended the song together, both smiling.
(Song Ends)
The crowd applauded.
Noah looked toward Marcel to see Caitlin had gone inside.
Marcel gave Noah a look.
Noah looked away, putting the trumpet down, looking at the group in front of them, holding a hand toward the tough-looking woman. "Gia's proven herself. She knows what she's getting into. So, she's going to be the first one to be turned. Everybody else? First, we need to be sure that you can handle moving up a notch on the food chain. The emotional ups and downs, the solitude, and bloodlust. Imagine hearing the sound of a heart beating, beating, beating, and wanting more than anything to feed. That's what it's like to be a vampire. It's not for everybody. Some folks, well... Let's just say it brings out the worst in them."
Elijah seemed lost in thought.

Flashback 2 - 1821
Abattoir Compound - Study
Elijah stood nearby a piano, watching Young Marcel trying to work his way through a song.
Young Marcel sighed in defeated exasperation. "I can't do it."
Elijah smiled proudly. "Now, you once said the same thing of your reading, and now you devour everything from sonnets to scriptures. So, devote yourself to your music, and soon, you shall be Johann Sebastian Bach."
"But I want to play like you," Young Marcel told him.
Elijah smiled.
Young Marcel smiled.
Klaus appeared in the doorway, applauding. "Well, isn't this nice? My older brother and my ward, getting along like two peas in a pod."
Elijah turned to Young Marcel. "We shall continue at another time. Why don't you resume your Hamlet? Act one, scene three today. Off you go." Young Marcel walked past Klaus as he walked out of the room, leaving. Klaus waved to him, walking drunkenly into the room to join Elijah. "Congratulations, you've been drinking."
"Only to remedy the lifeless monotony that has overcome this household," Klaus told him. "You know, Rebekah's still pouting over the Governor's son."
Elijah was annoyed. "When you threw him to his death, did you imagine a different outcome?"
Klaus continued as if Elijah hadn't spoken. "You monopolize young Marcellus with schooling." He poured himself a drink, sighing. "He and I used to have such fun. Last night, I found someone whom I could share a bit of roguery. And she convinced me that we could have even more fun than we had, with the right..." He pulled out a dagger. "Conditions."
Elijah gave him a look. "You didn't."
Klaus shrugged, laughing.
--
Courtyard
Elijah walked down the stairs into the courtyard.
Klaus followed him.
Kol had just finished viciously feeding on three of the servants, clearing his throat, applauding, covered in blood. "Bravo. That was delectable." He stood, turning to Elijah. "Nik and I ran into an old friend last night. She was exquisite." He looked at Klaus. "And she is my new best friend, for convincing you to remove the dagger from my heart. But, make no mistake, Nik. I'm still cross that you daggered me. But, as far as apologies, it's a start."
Elijah angrily turned to face Klaus, incredulous. "An old friend convinced you to remove the dagger? You really let her do so?"
"Oh, she isn't just anyone, brother," Klaus told him. "She is an immortal, like us. And she is very persuasive." He looked at Kol. "Isn't she, brother?"
Kol smiled, his skin stained in blood. "We're not talking about any old friend, Elijah. We're talking... about Rosalita."
Elijah looked at his brothers in worry, concerned by that name. "No. Not Rosalita."
--
Now
Day - Algiers
Noah was still speaking to the crowd. "Then, there are the other side. Having speed and strength, power and agility, the feeling of being able to do anything you want. For some, it brings out the best in them. Some relish in it, dive into it, take all of what it has to offer. You can be one of them."
Marcel noticed Elijah and Kassandra finally standing off to their own, approaching them. "Elijah. Kassandra. Didn't expect to see either of you on this side of the river."
"Didn't expect to see you and Noah assembling a new vampire community," Elijah replied. "I guess we're all full of surprises."
"Our community was fine until your brother had the brilliant idea to make moonlight rings," Marcel told them. "Now that Harvest Girl's making more, offering them to the wolves in exchange for their allegiance. And the wolves are just kneeling at her feet. The Quarter's become a dangerous place, and the two of you? You're the last true vampires left. Your brother is on Team Wolf. What are you two? You ask me, you're both better off joining my community. Maybe that's why you're here?"
Kassandra smiled, shaking her head. "Hmm, no. I don't do teams. We came to make you an offer. Find the white oak stake, and we'll let this little social experiment continue."
"Aw, even if I wanted to help, I don't have a clue where the stake is," Marcel told them.
"Yeah, but you do have an ally in both Davina and Auria," Kassandra told him. "They can find it. Thing is, I'd speak to them myself, but I feel the conversation might become a little... unpleasant. Auria has said that we had 'strong armed' her into situations far too many times, and Davina loathes us."
Marcel became serious. "You don't go anywhere near Davina or Auria."
Kassandra smiled. "Then it's settled. You'll deal with the matter personally."
Kassandra patted Marcel patronizingly on the shoulder, walking away.
--
St. Anne's Church - Attic
Davina was sitting in a chair, studying Esther's grimoire, taking notes in her notebook.
Mikael restlessly paced around the room, bored. "How frustrating. A novice trying to interpret the work of a master."
Mikael sighed dramatically.
Davina rolled her eyes, annoyed and defensive. "It's a simple de-linking spell."
"Simple?" Mikael repeated skeptically. "You're trying to erase the link between Klaus and every single vampire he's sired. And on top of that, you think you can find a way to break the link between Caitlin Harris and Marcel Gerard, which makes it all the more difficult."
Davina looked away. "I have Esther's grimoire. It's just a matter of time."
"Perhaps I can help you solve the riddle," Mikael told her.
Davina gave him an unconvinced look. "Unless you trick me into a spell that will free you from my control."
"You know, for somebody who despises my children so much, you certainly share their paranoia," Mikael told her. "The sooner you perform the spell, the sooner I'll be free to kill the bastard son."
Davina's phone beeped. She checked it, finding a message from Kaleb/Kol.
Coffee? Now-ish?
Davina smiled, standing, walking out, leaving.
--
Sanctuary
Davina walked down the aisle of pews, toward the doors, walking out, leaving.
Kaleb/Kol snuck through the church toward the attic.
--
Lafayette Cemetery
Kaleb/Kol, Cassie/Esther and Vincent/Finn walked through the cemetery, where the men gave their reports to their mother.
"Well, you were right to be suspicious," Kaleb/Kol told her. "Davina's hiding something in that attic. The door was locked with a rather complex spell."
"Could be a weapon, or a source of power," Cassie/Esther told him. "I prefer not to leave anything to chance. Better we know what she has and whose side she's on. So, you'll take her to dinner."
"Well, I just stood her up for coffee," Kaleb/Kol told them. "She probably hates me by now."
"Just do what you're told, Kol," Vincent/Finn told him.
"Oh, of course," Kaleb/Kol told him. "Finn the sycophant speaks up. Are you gonna grovel at your mother's heels for eternity, for what?"
"Stop it, both of you," Cassie/Esther told them. "There's enough conflict to come."
They arrived outside of the lycee, where a crowd of disheveled-looking werewolves were waiting for the.
"Look at this pack of freeloaders," Kaleb/Kol told them.
Cassie/Esther smiled. "Nonsense. These are our friends. Wolves in need of a gift only I can provide. Moonlight rings."
--
Lycee
Cassie/Esther, Vincent/Finn and Kaleb/Kol walked in.
A witch was chipping away small pieces of black hynaite from a large rock. Other witches were enchanting the stones, or polishing them afterward to affix the finished stones onto rings.
"The witches have been working day and night," Cassie/Esther told them. "Soon, we will have enough rings for any army. And, when we do, we will pay your brothers and sister a visit." Vincent/Finn and Kaleb/Kol looked around at all of the rings being made. Cassie/Esther picked a stone up from a nearby bowl, looking it over. "We will teach them the unfortunate error of their vampire ways."
--~--
Bayou
Klaus, Hayley and Mikayla had gotten to the werewolf encampments, looking around for any wolves who may have been still around.
"I told you, this place is deserted," Hayley told them.
"No, their scent is fresh," Mikayla told them. "They're hiding." She searched through empty tents. "Which means, somewhere nearby, we will find the remnants of our pack."
"And then what?" Hayley asked. "It's not exactly like they're going to welcome us. If there's one thing these people hate more than vampires, it's hybrids."
"What they hate is their lack of power," Mikayla told them. "Hence the willingness of their brethren to deal with that which in exchange for rings. But, she hasn't gotten to our lot yet, so, we need to get to them first and ensure they align with us."
"Awesome," Hayley told them skeptically. "All we gotta do is find them."
"A task I leave to the two of you," Klaus told them. "Go on." Hayley and Mikayla looked at him in confusion. "Well, you're both hybrids now, with heightened senses unlike anything under the sun... besides me."
Hayley rolled her eyes, smelling the air, seeming to smell something, closing her eyes for a moment to focus.
Mikayla looked at her in curiosity.
Hayley opened her eyes. "This is stupid."
"Your people need a leader," Klaus told them. "They need someone to reach out to them just as you need someone to reach out to you. You are the ones for this."
"I am a mess," Hayley told them. "I cry all day. I feed all night. All I can think about is how much I miss my daughter."
"Do you think you're alone in that pain?" Klaus asked.
"Have you even thought about her once?" Hayley asked.
"I have not stopped thinking about her," Klaus told her in annoyance. Mikayla turned her head away, smelling the air, stepping away. "When it pains me, I seek comfort in the idea of what I will do to those who would harm her." Mikayla walked closer to an overturned chair, over which laid a man's jacket. She picked it up, smelling it. Klaus noticed. "Concentrate."
Mikayla followed the scent, eventually finding the direction it led, walking toward it, leading the way.
Hayley was impressed, following Mikayla.
Klaus managed a small smile, almost proud, following them.
--
Algiers
Kassandra watched two older gentlemen playing chess outside on the side of a street.
Elijah and Marcel approached.
"Davina and Auria are on their way," Marcel told them. "By the time they get here, you two need to be gone."
"I'm not going anywhere until I know the whereabouts of the stake," Elijah told them.
"And after we find out where it is, then I am going to talk to another certain witch that seems to be the center of all of this mess," Kassandra told them.
"You think that any of them are just going to cooperate with you standing here or there?" Marcel asked. "First thing I learned living with your family. Wherever you people go, threats and bloodshed are soon to follow. So, just stay out of sight, and Kassandra, when you go to see Cassie... try not to kill anyone."
Kassandra smiled sarcastically.
Marcel walked away, leaving.
Elijah was lost in thought.

Flashback 3 - 1821
Day - Abattoir Compound - Courtyard
Kol and Rosalita were both covered in blood, laughing and giggling with the thrill of the kill and chase, kissing. Kol put a hand on her cheek, deepening the kiss hungrily and passionately, pulling away. Rosalita laughed.
Elijah walked toward them angrily. "Forty-six. An entire tenement. Forty-six bodies drained."
"Nonsense," Rosalita told him, walking closer. "It was at least sixty." She smirked. "Ah, they neglected to check the attic."
Kol laughed. "Why do people always run to the attic? I mean, it makes so sense."
"And why exactly did they neglect to expose us or find the reason behind these killings were vampires?" Elijah asked.
"I take that term offensively, dear Elijah," Rosalita told him. "I am far more than a vampire. I am an immortal. Do not ever call me a vampire."
"Yet you were also once a witch and are an originator of your Doppelganger line" Kol told her, wrapping his arms around Rosalita from behind.
"That's right," Rosalita told them, smiling. "I am twice the age of both of you, and your family." She looked at Elijah. "And you have nothing to fear, my dear. The authorities did nothing to harm our cause because I told them not to."
"She has a way with mind compulsion, Elijah," Kol told him. "She very well may be the thing that saves us."
"She is destroying you, Kol," Elijah told him in exasperation. "Rosalita has been destroying you since the day we met her so soon after we turned into vampires. She's the reason why you are the way that you are. Do you not see that?"
Rosalita pulled free from Kol's hold, stepping closer to Elijah. "You would do good not to get in my way, Elijah. Remember that."
--
Now
Day - Algiers
Elijah pulled himself out of his thoughts, sighing.
Kassandra turned to him. "You okay, brother?"
"Just thinking," Elijah answered.
Kassandra nodded.
--
Marcel's Loft - Balcony
Caitlin was inside alone, sighing, looking down.
Josh walked upstairs onto the balcony. "You okay, Caitlin?"
"Thinking," Caitlin told him, falling back onto the couch behind her.
"Thinking..." Josh trailed off, falling back onto the couch next to Caitlin. "About what?"
"About fighting my parents' dying wish, about being stubborn enough to stay alive," Caitlin answered. "There's just one big flaw about all of this."
"And what's that?" Josh asked.
"The same thing that everyone has thought about, but hasn't been man enough to bring it up," Caitlin answered. "Even if I do everything humanly possible to stay alive, that is the thing that's wrong with this situation. I'm human. I'm gonna grow old, and I'm gonna die, and then Marcel will still die with me."
"I thought you said that Davina was working on a de-linking spell," Josh told her in confusion.
"Josh, the spell that the witches used to link me to Marcel is way complicated," Caitlin told him.
"Complicated how?" Josh asked.
"Well, for one, it took a whole family of witches to do it," Caitlin answered. "For two, they used their blood to do it, which means, for anyone to undo it..."
"You have to use the witches' blood," Josh finished.
Caitlin nodded. "Yeah. And guess what? Marcel, Noah and the vampires killed them all before they knew how to break the damn spell." Josh smiled at the way she had said it. "So, Davina or Auria can't be the ones who can undo the spell, because they're not of that witch family, and that witch family is dead, so no one can do the unlinking spell. Auria has traveled all over the world looking for a way to undo the linking spell, but she didn't find the answer. So, how the hell are we gonna do this? How are you guys gonna keep Marcel alive when I die from sickness or old age?"
"Easy," Josh told her. "I'm pretty sure you can guess where I'm going with this."
"Even if I become a vampire, I still die, and that means Marcel dies," Caitlin told him.
"Not if Davina and Auria can do a protection spell on Marcel just long enough for you to wake up in transition," Josh told her. "And wishfully, since you died and came back, maybe the link would be broken once and for all."
Caitlin took a moment to think about that, turning her head to look at Josh, impressed. "You're some kind of mad genius." Josh smiled. Caitlin sighed, sitting back against the couch again. "But I don't wanna die yet. I don't wanna turn yet. And I sure as hell don't wanna ask Davina and/or Auria to do this, because I don't want to use them like everyone in New Orleans has."
"Hey," Josh told her in defense.
Caitlin smiled. "Everyone except you."
Noah walked in. "Well, I like what you two are thinking." Caitlin and Josh looked at him. "What? It's a good plan."
"We don't even know if it will work, Noah," Caitlin told him.
"There's only one way to find out," Noah replied. "But not today, Caitlin. Today, we're having a little family reunion."
Caitlin looked at Noah in confusion.
--
Living Room
Noah and Caitlin walked toward Marcel.
Davina and Auria walked in.
They all smiled.
"Hey," Marcel told them. He looked at Davina. "Long time, little D."
Davina and Caitlin smiled, embracing.
"Hey, Davina," Caitlin told her.
They pulled away.
"Hey, Caitlin," Davina told her.
Marcel kissed Auria on the cheek. "Thanks for bringing her over."
"Well, she didn't exactly have a ride," Auria told them. "I got your message."
"What's going on?" Davina asked.
Marcel held his arms toward Davina. "Come on. I don't get a hug?"
Marcel and Davina embraced, pulling away.
Noah smirked.
"It's good to see you, Marcel," Davina told him.
"It's good to see you, too," Marcel told her. "I appreciate you coming with Auria all the way out here."
"Well, Auria was my cool teacher," Davina told them. She looked at Auria. "Like, the best teacher I ever had, including the ones that I have now."
Auria smiled. "Aw. Thanks, Davina."
"So, look who turned into teacher's little pet," Noah told her.
Davina smiled as the tease, pushing Noah lightly in the chest. "Shut up, Noah."
Davina and Noah chuckled, embracing.
"Hey, Davina," Noah told her.
Marcel looked at Davina. "Speaking of which, how's school? Make any new friends?"
"I don't know," Davina told them. She looked at Caitlin. "Kaleb asked me out, but then, he stood me up."
"He stood you up?" Caitlin repeated skeptically, in disbelief.
Davina chuckled in slight embarrassment. "Mm-hmm."
"Say the word, and he's dead," Marcel told her.
They chuckled.
Caitlin still seemed distant and awkward with Noah, looking down.
Auria noticed, wrapping an arm around Caitlin's shoulders. "How you doing, Caitlin?"
Caitlin took a deep breath, nodding unconvincingly. "Good."
Auria raised her eyebrows skeptically, knowingly, unconvinced. "Good?"
Caitlin chuckled, smiling slightly. "Better."
"Yeah, you better be," Auria told her, letting her arm fall to her side.
They chuckled.
Marcel looked at Auria and Davina. "Okay, I hate to ask for a favor, but, I need a locator spell. Something's missing. A white oak stake that's powerful enough to kill an Original. Which is why it might take two witches to find the thing instead of one."
"What?" Auria asked.
"Did one of them put you up to this?" Davina asked.
"D, if that stake is used on Klaus, every vampire he's sired dies, too," Noah told her. "Marcel, Josh and I are part of that sireline. If Klaus dies, Marcel dies. And because of the link, if Marcel dies, Caitlin dies."
"I know, Noah," Davina told him. "But, what if we do find it? I mean, I--I'm not just gonna give it to Klaus. He, Elijah and Kassandra are brutal, sadistic monsters."
Kassandra appeared, walking in. "I do wish I could disagree with you. Tragically however, you're quite right."
Marcel gave Kassandra a look.
Noah shook his head in annoyance that Kassandra was here. "Kassandra..."
Elijah walked in behind Kassandra. "Although, we all have excellent reason to find that weapon. We want to protect our family, and you want to protect your friends. We'd do well to forget our grievances and join forces."
"No," Davina told them angrily.
"Davina, just--" Aura started worriedly.
"No," Caitlin told her. "Auria, why should either of you listen to the Originals?" She turned to Elijah and Kassandra, stepping closer. "For a long time, you and your family have had all the power. You manipulate and kill anyone who gets in your way, or even those who just say the wrong thing to piss you off." She looked at Elijah. "Isn't that what you did to me the night you killed Thierry?"
Kassandra looked at Elijah, knowing Caitlin had a point.
Elijah didn't answer.
Davina exhaled, shaking her head. "Your time is over. From now on, you can know what it is to be afraid."
Davina walked out, leaving.
Caitlin glared at Elijah and Kassandra, turning to give Noah and Marcel a look, walking out, leaving.
Marcel looked at Elijah and Kassandra angrily. "I asked you two to stay out of sight."
Elijah looked at Auria, but spoke to Marcel and Noah as if she wasn't there. "We needed to speak to them face to face."
"Why?" Auria asked. "So that you could piss not only Davina and me off, but Caitlin, too?"
"We wanted to see for ourselves, Auria," Elijah told her. "Davina cares for all of you, and yet, how cavalier she was at the jeopardy that you now face. We assumed that you had a part in this, as well, but now, I'm sure that you don't."
"I don't," Auria told them honestly.
"What are you saying?" Noah asked. "Davina..."
"She knows the stake will not be used because she knows where it is," Kassandra told them. "She's had it all along." She smirked. "And now that we know where the stake is, you will get it back from her, and I will go talk to a witch and educate her as to what she may or may not do in our city."
Kassandra turned around, walking out, leaving.
Noah, Auria and Marcel exchanged a look.

Bayou
Oliver and the rest of the Crescent Wolves were gathering their belongings in a clearing.
Hayley, Mikayla and Klaus watched them from the woods.
"So, Jackson is MIA, and Oliver seems to think he's the Alpha," Mikayla told them.
"What happened to Jackson?" Hayley asked.
Mikayla shook her head in disappointed confusion. "I have no idea."
"And here I thought you two always knew where the other was," Klaus told her.
"Not in months," Mikayla told them. Hayley looked at her in confusion. Mikayla looked from Hayley to Klaus, gesturing forward. "Go ahead."
Hayley and Klaus stepped into the view of the wolves.
The werewolves all turned to face Hayley and Klaus defensively, forming a circle around them.
"The hell you two what?" Oliver asked.
"Hold your tongue, or I'll tear it from your gaping mouth," Klaus told him.
Hayley gave Klaus a look. "We didn't come here to fight, Oliver. We came to bear a really rather shocking surprise."
Oliver looked at them in confusion.
Mikayla stepped forward through the crowd, standing on the other side of Hayley.
The crowd murmured in confused shock.
Oliver looked too stunned to move.
Mikayla sighed, looking around. "You know, this is the same pack I was born into and taken away from, and found my way back to, the one that helped me as much as I helped them, and the same one that watched Francesca Guerrera slit my throat in the middle of the Quarter the other night."
Oliver tried to cover how relieved he really was. "Right, and you're obviously not dead. Which can mean only one thing. You're a hybrid."
There was more murmuring.
Mikayla nodded. "They wanted me dead, so I'm dead. Just not the way that they wanted me to be, because I can still make a difference with the werewolves. Our pack has been divided by people who wants us to be their slaves. What e need right now is a leader. Someone who will reunite us and make us strong again. Someone who will fight for our pack. If you let me, I can be that person."
"You think we can trust you?" Oliver asked. "You're not one of us. You stopped being one of us all those months ago when you chose the vampires over your own people. And now, you're not even a wolf. You're one of them. A blood-sucking vampire parasite."
Klaus rolled his eyes dramatically.
"She never chose the vampires over you," Hayley told them in exasperation. "You chose the Guerreras over her, over us. Some of you chose the moonlight rings, and some of you stood back and watched as they killed Mikayla, even though she is the one that got you this far. She never killed any of you, and she never hurt you. Unlike some of us."
Oliver looked at Hayley. "You're right, tough girl. Mikayla never hurt us, but you did. You slaughtered nearly a dozen of us on the night she died. You gonna do the same thing again?"
Hayley stepped toward him. "You want to say that again and see what happens, Oliver?"
"You're gonna attack me?" Oliver asked. "In front of all them? You'll just give them another reason to say yes to Cassie and her moonlight rings. Yeah, they would rather follow a witch than you. Me? Hell, I'd rather die than follow you."
Klaus rushed toward Oliver, pushing him to the ground, putting his foot on his chest furiously. "Well, at least you didn't drag this out."
"Hey, let him go," Mikayla told him. "Klaus!"
"You need to learn about the art of politics, love," Klaus told her. "You gain support by killing your detractors."
"They may have done some questionable things, but these people, including Oliver, are my family," Mikayla told him. "Let him go, now."
All of the werewolves watched intently.
Klaus looked around, releasing Oliver.
Hayley pointed at Mikayla. "You see? There's your queen. Powerful, fearless, and unlike some of us, merciful, even to those who have wronged her. You'd rather die than follow me? Good. Great. Don't follow me. Follow Mikayla."
Everyone looked at Mikayla.
Mikayla took a deep, steadying breath, managing a small smile.

Algiers
Marcel, Elijah, Auria and Noah walked down the streets.
"The stake is safe," Noah told them. "Davina won't use it on Klaus if it would kill us and kill Caitlin."
"Of course, she has no reason whatsoever not to use it on me and Kassandra," Elijah told them.
Noah smiled. "I guess you better behave."
"And, how long before someone else should make this discovery?" Elijah asked. "What if it falls into enemy hands?"
Auria sighed. "I'll get her to give the stake back. All right? Just give me some time."
"Unfortunately, Auria, unlike these wretches souls that Marcel and Noah's recruits here, your promises do little to inspire my faith," Elijah told her, turning to face her.
"How many things have I done for you, Elijah?" Auria asked. "Now you're doubting me?"
"I'm not doubting you, Auria," Elijah told her. "I'm doubting that Davina will hand the stake over without a fight."
"Oh, she'll put up a fight," Auria told him. "And if you want to strong arm me into getting the stake from her, you won't have to. I will get it."
"Yes, you will," Elijah told her.
Marcel turned to face Elijah, standing next to Auria, protective and frustrated. "Look. Hey, don't threaten someone who is willingly trying to help you. Do you ever wonder why your family has so many enemies? It's because you make stupid moves like this. It really makes me wonder how the hell I ever survived you people."

Flashback 4 - 1821
Night - Abattoir Compound - Courtyard
Kol, Rosalita and Young Marcel were sitting together.
Rosalita had organized and mind-controlled a group of men to act out Shakespeare for them.
Young Marcel's lips were coated in blood. "Please let me go. Mr. Kol, Miss Rosalita, I don't--I don't like this."
Rosalita knelt in front of Young Marcel. "Don't be absurd. Shakespeare should be experienced in the flesh. In truth, these aren't the finest actors, but we are in the colonies." She stood. "Here." She turned toward the stage, holding an arm toward it to gesture dramatically. "Where were we?"
"In venom to thy work," the first actor stated, taking a sword, driving it through another actor's stomach.
Young Marcel gasped in shock as the man fell to the floor, dead.
"Exchange forgiveness with me, noble Harlot--" the second actor started.
Kol stood. "No." He walked toward him, sighing. "How many times must we tell you?" He grabbed the top of the actor's head. "It's Hamlet, not Harlot." He snapped the actor's neck, letting his body fall to the floor, looking at Rosalita. "Sometimes, I don't know why I bother."
Rosalita smiled. "Then why don't you stop showing off and leave it all to me?"
Kol smirked, walking closer.
Elijah walked in, breathless. "What have you done?"
Rosalita gave Elijah an unimpressed look. "You are really starting to bore me. I don't like to be bored."
"We were just introducing Marcellus to the theater," Kol told him. "I thought you would be pleased."
Elijah sighed, checking on Young Marcel. He looked at Kol and Rosalita. "Is there no limit to your violent imaginations?"
"You have no clue as to what my violent and dark imagination is like, darling," Rosalita told him.
"If the lad is going to be a vampire, he'll have to learn somehow, won't he?" Kol asked. "Come. I've already fed him my blood. All you have to do is snuff him, and viola. One of us. Well, that's what you want, isn't it?"
Elijah grabbed Kol's throat, pushing him back.
Rosalita turned to grab Elijah's arm that was holding Kol's throat, focusing. "Let him go, Elijah."
Elijah was effected by her mind control, pulling his arm away involuntarily. He looked at Rosalita in confusion. "You've been able to control us all for centuries. Originals. What are you?"
Rosalita smiled. "I told you before, love. I'm an immortal. When I was a witch 2,000 years ago, I had the psychic ability to read other's thoughts and see their desires, even control them if I wanted. When I was forced to turn, those gifts became stronger, magnified. And I have very, very special plans for your little... family."

Now
Day - Algiers
Elijah, Auria, Marcel and Noah were still speaking.
"I don't fault any of you for your suspicion, nor Caitlin and Davina for their contempt," Elijah told them. "That does not alter our present dilemma. Davina has that stake. I want it back."
Elijah walked away, leaving.
Marcel looked at Noah. "Auria and I will find Davina. Stay here with Caitlin, Noah. Make sure she doesn't get herself into more trouble."
"Wishful thinking, Marcel," Noah told him.
"Yeah, I know," Marcel told him.
Auria smiled a small smile.
Marcel and Auria turned around, walking away.
Noah sighed, turning to look at the loft. He seemed to be thinking.

St. Anne's Church - Attic
Davina was lounging on the couch, studying Esther's grimoire and her own notes.
Mikael watched her with annoyance.
"Stare all you want, but as long as I have this bracelet, I own you," Davina told him.
"You foolish little girl," Mikael told her. "You imprison me here, you refuse my help, but all the while, that hybrid monstrosity roams this city, free to prey on everyone you care about. Those few that remain."
Davina ignored him. Her phone beeped. She went through it to find she missed a call and a text from Kaleb/Kol.
Can I make it up to you over dinner?
Davina smiled.

Night - Lafayette Cemetery
Kassandra had arrived to confront the werewolves who were working with her mother and brothers, walking through the cemetery and the fog that surrounded her. "What happened to decorum? Does no one greet their guests anymore?" She walked around the cemetery. The werewolves came out of hiding, surrounding her. Kassandra smiled in amusement. "Well, that's more like it. Although, I am rather disappointed at how many of the once-formidable, strong creatures such as werewolves have been neutered by a 16-year-old girl. Where is she? Where is this witch who dares craft moonlight rings?"
Kassandra looked around to find Cassie/Esther.
Cassie/Esther approached Kassandra through the crowd of the werewolves. "Kassandra." Kassandra narrowed her eyes at her. "I've been expecting you."
Kassandra looked at Cassie/Esther critically.
--~--
Lycee
Kassandra sat at one of the tables.
Cassie/Esther made some tea. "I must offer my condolences on the tragic loss of your niece."
"Wasn't it your coven who threatened her life?" Kassandra replied. Cassie/Esther set a cup of tea in front of Kassandra, pouring one for herself. "Is that tea your idea of a peace offering?"
"Chamomile has lots of healing properties," Cassie/Esther told her. "Did you know that it is also a flowering plant?"
"I did," Kassandra answered. "The plant grew wild nearby my childhood home. But, neither the tea, nor your botanical musings explain the reason why you've taken it upon yourself to forge new moonlight rings."
"I assumed that was obvious," Cassie/Esther told her. "An alliance between the wolves and the witches would restore balance to our home."
"Well, that's a lofty goal for a teenage girl," Kassandra told her suspiciously.
"Long ago, the witches and the wolves were at peace," Cassie/Esther told her. "Then came the vampires. A plague made flesh, a curse on this Earth. You have no humanity, and so you punish those who do. Witches have a coven. Werewolves have a pack. And so we are a constant reminder of everything that you have forsaken. Creatures such as you will always hate the living, and so we will always have to defend ourselves. The rings level the playing field. If we are united, nothing can stand against us."
Kassandra was amused more than anything. "It's an ambitious strategy. But allow me to offer a few words of advice, if I may be so bold. New Orleans is a vicious place, and your enemies are everywhere. Behind your back, before your eyes. You will need to remain vigilant against those who would seek to destroy you, some of whom you may never see coming."
Cassie/Esther took a drink of her tea calmly. "I've already begun to take precautions. In fact, I'm taking them as we speak."
Kassandra looked at her in confusion.

Rousseau's
(Song:) Recollection - Keep Shelly In Athens
Davina and Kaleb/Kol were sitting at a table together, getting to know each other.
"My family?" Kaleb/Kol asked. "Oh, no. They're all crazy as loons. How about your family?"
Davina shifted uncomfortably in her seat, hesitating before speaking. "Not much to say. Only child. My dad was distant, which is a lot better than my mom."
"Mommy issues, eh?" Kaleb/Kol asked. "Bet she's a control freak, right?" Davina nodded. "Yeah, same as mine. She's the reason I stopped practicing magic for so long."
Davina looked at him in shock. "You're a witch?"
"Don't look so surprised, love," Kaleb/Kol told her. "I didn't just ask you out because you're gorgeous. No, we're, uh... we're kindred souls."
"What do you mean?" Davina asked.
"I know your story, Davina," Kaleb/Kol told her. "I mean, you're practically famous. You're the Harvest Girl that is mentored by the rebellious witch Auria Rayvnne, both who told them all to shove it. I'm a lot like you. Don't really believe in rules and authority. Your courage, it should be celebrated."
Davina smiled.
They looked at each other for a moment.
Davina's phone rang. She pulled it out to see that it was Auria calling. "Well, speak of the devil. I'm so sorry. Auria will just keep calling until I answer. I'll make it quick."
Davina walked away, leaving.
(Song Ends)
Vincent/Finn approached their table. "You're stalling."
Kaleb/Kol rolled his eyes, sighing in annoyance. "No, that's not creepy at all, watching me on my own date."
"Stop complimenting her and find out what she's hiding," Vincent/Finn told him.
"I'm wooing her, Finncent," Kaleb/Kol told him. "It requires charm, and personality. Something you'd know nothing about."
"Our mother wants answers, and if you can't get them, we'll do this my way," Vincent/Finn told him.
"Oh, what are you gonna do?" Kaleb/Kol asked. "You gonna bore her until she can't help but tell you everything?"
"If you want to find out if someone has a weapon, you provoke them into using it," Vincent/Finn told him.
Kaleb/Kol looked at him in confusion.
--
Outside
Davina was talking to Auria over the phone. "I never said I had it."
Marcel and Auria were in a car, on the road.
Marcel was driving.
Auria was in the passenger seat, sighing. "The thing is, Elijah and Kassandra think you do. Matter of fact, they're convinced."
"Well, let Elijah and Kassandra think what they want," Davina told her.
"You're not safe, Davina," Auria told her. "Anyone who's ever wanted to kill an Original is gonna be coming after you."
"Fine," Davina told her. "Let them try."
"Davina, come on," Auria told her. "Just tell me where you are." Davina didn't answer. "Hey, we can talk about this." She looked at Marcel for a moment, sighing, looking away. "I can help you."
Marcel looked at Auria.
Auria held up her hand to silently tell him she was only telling Davina what she wanted to hear.
"You'd help me?" Davina asked.
"If it means that you're not in danger, then, yes, I will do anything," Auria told her.
Davina sighed, hesitating, relenting. "I'm at Rousseau's. Don't bother coming. I'm leaving now. Meet me at St. Anne's."
Davina hung up, walking inside.
--
Inside
Davina walked in, pushing through a crowd of people to find Kaleb/Kol, looking confused as everyone filed out of the restaurant. "Kaleb? What's happening?"
"Some fellow just announced they were closing for a private party," Kaleb/Kol told her in annoyance.
"We should leave now," Davina told him.
A man with a group of his fellow werewolves approached them. "And what's your rush, sweetheart? Why don't you stay and party with us?"
"Get out of our way," Davina told them angrily. "Now."
The werewolves didn't move.
Davina cast a pain infliction spell on Werewolf 1, making him fall to his knees and groan in pain.
The other werewolves surrounded Davina and Kaleb/Kol, who immediately began to panic.
"Can you do that with the rest of them, or..." Kaleb/Kol trailed off.
Davina shook her head. "Not all at once." The werewolf stood, pushing Davina across the room, making her fall to the floor. Kaleb/Kol tried to push the werewolf back. The werewolves threw Kaleb/Kol behind the bar, making several bottles shatter when he made impact, making him fall to the floor. They transformed, eyes glowing gold and canines descended. Davina twisted the bracelet around her wrist, chanting. "Jwen mwen vennez ca maintenant."

St. Anne's Church - Attic
Mikael sensed something, walking out of the door, surprised to find that he could do so.
--
Rousseau's
A werewolf grabbed Davina, pushing her against the bar, turning her head so he could try to bite her in the neck.
Mikael arrived, throwing the werewolf across the bar. "You filthy dogs." He lunged for the werewolves, beginning to fight. Kaleb/Kol hid behind the bar, becoming fearful when he realized that his father was alive. Mikael snapped a werewolf's neck, ripping the hearts out of two others. All of the werewolves attacked Mikael, biting him viciously. Mikael launched out to push all the wolves to the floor, pushing a wolf against the wall, ripping his heart out. Another werewolf grabbed Davina, and in the struggle, he made the bracelet fall of her wrist to the floor. Mikael noticed, smirking. "Well, now. What an interesting turn of events."
Davina looked at Mikael in fear.
--~--
Mikael grabbed Davina off the floor by the front of her shirt, transforming. "I'm going to enjoy this, girl."
Elijah rushed closer, pushing Mikael away from Davina without realizing who it had been at first. He turned toward him, completely shocked. "Father?"
"Hello, son," Mikael told him. "I'd hoped to see your brother first, but we have some unfinished business, as well."
Elijah rushed toward Mikael, punching him in the face. Mikael grabbed Elijah, turning around, pushing him against the bar. Elijah tried to push himself up to no avail. Mikael pulled the white oak stake out of the waistband, aiming it for Elijah's heart. Elijah desperately tried to push his arms away. Mikael managed to push the stake into Elijah's chest, making him scream in pain.
Auria arrived behind Mikael, raising her hand toward him, casting a pain infliction spell, making him groan in pain and let Elijah go.
Marcel stood next to Auria as she continued to do the pain infliction spell. "Can you do that for long?"
"I got this, Marcel," Auria told him. "Get Davina, get out of here."
Marcel rushed toward Davina, trying to lift her from the floor.
"No," Davina told him. "I need my bracelet. I can use it to control him."
Marcel saw the bracelet nearby beside a dead werewolf body, quickly rushing to grab it.
Mikael turned toward Auria angrily, trying to power through the pain infliction spell, looking at her with hate.
Auria made the pain infliction spell more powerful, lowering her arm to her side forcefully.
Mikael fell to his knees, screaming in pain. He powered through enough to get to his feet.
Marcel got the bracelet, tossing it to Davina.
Davina caught it.
Mikael lunged for Auria.
Auria used magic to keep him back, hand raised toward Mikael.
Davina put the bracelet on, standing. "Stop!" Mikael stopped from trying to attack Auria. Auria stopped the spell on him, but kept her arm raised just in case. "Go back, now!"
Behind the bar, Kaleb/Kol was looking at the scene in complete shock and horror, his head bleeding.
Mikael sighed, reluctantly rushing out of the restaurant.
Auria exhaled in relief, lowering her arm to her side.
Elijah stood, looking at Davina in horror.
Marcel and Auria looked at Davina, disappointed.
Davina shook her head, walking out of the restaurant.
Auria looked at Kaleb/Kol. "Something to say?"
"Not me, love," Kaleb/Kol told her. "Not a bloody thing."

Lafayette Cemetery - Lycee
Kassandra and Cassie/Esther continued to have tea.
Kassandra took a drink. "Chamomile. It's the same tea my mother made. How I loathed it."
Cassie/Esther was amused. "Would you have preferred mint?"
"You know, she was insane, my mother," Kassandra told her. Cassie/Esther raised her eyebrows. "No, it's true. She believed we were abominations. 'A curse on this Earth, stretched out over generations', is how she put it. But, she was the true monster. She changed her children, stole our innocence, made us vampires, condemned us to an eternity of bloodlust, and then acted as if we were to blame."
Cassie/Esther was clearly offended, but forced herself to remain calm. "She sounds awful. Are you building to a question, Kassandra?"
"You say my name as though we are familiars," Kassandra told her. "You speak as though you know my reputation, and yet you're not afraid. You're not even fazed. I see the way you look at me, and it looks like you have known me my entire life even though we just met. I find it insulting." Cassie/Esther didn't answer. "Before she died, a witch revealed that your coven was under my mother's influence." Kassandra forced herself to smile. "Does she speak to you now?"
Cassie/Esther smiled. "She doesn't have to. I know exactly what she would say." She gave Kassandra a cold look. "She would tell you to go to your room for being so rude." Kassandra lost her temper, standing, slamming her hands on the table, looking her in the eye. Cassie/Esther looked at Kassandra with a look only a mother could give to her child. Kassandra knew who Cassie/Esther was, stunned and nervous to know that her mother was back, but not afraid of her. A group of werewolves walked in, surrounding them threateningly. "It's okay. Kassandra was just leaving."
"I will happily kill them all," Kassandra told her.
"Then, you will have murdered members of the very pack your brother still hopes to some day lead," Cassie/Esther told her. "If he finds out that you're the one to blame, he will drive a dagger into your heart, and leave you to die, not for 500 years, not for 1000, but for eternity. Don't you think? Besides, there's no need for bloodshed. We can always resume this discussion another day." She smirked. "Good night, Kassandra. We will speak again soon."
Kassandra looked at her in suspicion.
--
Abattoir Compound - Wine Cellar
Elijah and Kassandra were discussing the day's events.
Elijah was clearly upset and anxious, but Kassandra was too distracted to notice right away.
"It is worse than we thought," Kassandra told him, breaking the neck off of a bottle of wine to drink it. "I met the witch, Cassie. I studied her, her presence, the way she carried herself. The fervor with which she voiced her hatred of our kind. I looked into that girl's eyes, and I swear to you, Elijah, she's not just guided by our mother. She is our mother."
Elijah was stunned. "What is happening?"
"I'm going to kill her," Kassandra told him. "I will boil her bones and feed them to the dogs, if that's what it takes."
"Kassandra--" Elijah started.
Kassandra turned to face him. "What? What could possibly be more important than the return of our mother?"
Elijah hesitated. "Our father." Kassandra looked at him in confusion. "I saw him standing there in the flesh, as you do now. He was enslaved with some spell cast by Davina. He holds the stake." Kassandra was shocked and nervous to hear that their father had the means to kill them, worried, sighing deeply. "If she chooses to release him..."
Kassandra was becoming determined. "Well, then there's only one question we need to ask, isn't there? Which of our parents do we kill first?"
--~--
Courtyard
Kassandra and Elijah walked into the courtyard.
Hayley, Klaus and Mikayla were leading the Crescent Wolves who weren't aligned with Cassie/Esther inside.
"Take any of the rooms on the first floor," Klaus told them.
Kassandra walked closer. "Are we running a kennel now?"
"We'll handle them," Hayley told them.
"Our family is under siege," Kassandra told them. "It is not the time for guests."
"If they're not with us, they're with the witches," Hayley told them. "You guys asked me to step up. This is me stepping up."
Mikayla smiled. "Well, it seems I'm a good influence after all."
Elijah watched them, lost in thought.

Flashback 5 - 1821
Day - Abattoir Compound - Coffin Room
Rosalita was looking over the two coffins in the room, both of the lids open.
Kassandra and Finn laid in each one, daggers in their chests, desiccated.
Elijah walked toward Rosalita. "You're changing Kol. You've been changing him since the moment we met you centuries ago. You turned him into a brutal monster bathing in decadence."
Rosalita turned to face him, stepping closer. "So, you're saying that my wretched behavior is only serving to distract him from your auspicious path? He doesn't need me for that, darling. Now, you might well consider me a hypocrite to infiltrate your family for the benefits of betraying mine." She used mind control on him. "This won't make any sense for centuries to come. Not until you're ready to remember. But when the time draws near for my brother to rise again, and he will, you will undagger all of your siblings who might or might not lie in their sleep. Such as Finn and Kassandra here. If Rebekah and Kol are daggered as well when the time comes, you will undagger all of them. You might be essential in helping me stop my brother from waking himself."
"And what has your brother done to make you go to such lengths to make sure he stays the way he is?" Elijah asked.
"He damned me to an eternity of misery," Rosalita answered. "Now, I'm more into Kol's head than I will ever be in yours. He will be my key to try to keep anyone from getting the Cure that will ultimately lead to Silas resurfacing. But if your siblings are sleeping, you won't be of much use to me, will you? This is why I'm telling you to wake them."
"How will I know when to do as you say if you're going to make me forget?" Elijah asked.
Rosalita smiled, tilting her head. "You'll know, Elijah. Believe me. You will know."

Now
Night - Abattoir Compound - Courtyard
Elijah continued to watch Hayley, Mikayla, Klaus and Kassandra.
"I don't see Oliver amongst them," Kassandra told them. "Am I to assume you finished him off? Pity. After he poisoned me with a kiss, I was hoping that I could be the one to send him off to meet his maker."
"No one is killing Ollie, Kassandra," Mikayla told her. "We made a deal. He'll pledge his loyalty to Cassie, report back, and tell me everything that he learns."
Klaus smiled proudly. "Well done."
Kassandra walked away, leaving.
Elijah thought about what to do.
Klaus led several werewolf men to their new bedrooms, leaving.
Mikayla led several werewolf girls to their new bedrooms. "You girls can just go through here."
Mikayla and the girls walked away, leaving.
Elijah walked down the stairs to leave.
Hayley turned to Elijah.
"Well, you all have your hands full," Elijah told her.
"Were you just leaving?" Hayley asked.
"To be perfectly honest with you, the presence of all of them here, it's... it's a little much," Elijah told her. "No, perhaps it's for the best. You should be with your kind."
Hayley looked at Elijah in confusion, a little hurt with him leaving.

Lafayette Cemetery - Lycee
Kaleb/Kol angrily grabbed Vincent/Finn by his shirt, pushing him against the wall. "What the bloody hell was that, huh?"
"You need to calm down," Vincent/Finn told him.
"You almost got me killed," Kaleb/Kol told him. "Those wolves didn't just go after Davina. They almost attacked me!"
Cassie/Esther walked in calmly. "I'm aware. I gave the order. The attack had to look convincing."
Kaleb/Kol let go of Vincent/Finn, gesturing toward the bruises and cuts on his forehead. "Look at my head. This isn't gonna heal for weeks. I haven't had a scar in a thousand years."
"You'll live," Cassie/Esther told him in annoyance. "And, more importantly, Davina will feel indebted to you. She will seek you out to apologize for what she perceives as an attack she caused, as I planned."
"Well, I've had enough of your plans," Kaleb/Kol told her. "You stick me in this body, you force me to sneak around like some common toady. If this is the grand new life that you planned for me, then you can have it back."
Cassie/Esther raised her hand toward Kaleb/Kol, casting a pain infliction spell on him, making him fall to his knees, groaning and gasping in pain, his nose starting to bleed. "You are here by my grace, and you will remain by my grace. Have I made myself clear?"
Kaleb/Kol groaned in pain. "Yes."
Cassie/Esther stopped the spell.
Kaleb/Kol took a moment to catch his breath.
Cassie/Esther looked guilty, kneeling in front of Kaleb/Kol, placing a hand on either of his cheeks. "Your brother was in the attic during the attack. Finn, tell him what you saw."
"The door was open," Vincent/Finn told them. "The room was empty."
Cassie/Esther stood. "So, how did Davina tear apart a pack of vicious wolves? She must have had this weapon with her. What was it? A dark object? A book of spells?"
Kaleb/Kol was still angry for the stunt they had pulled, so he lied about what he had seen. "Well, I wish I knew." He pointed to his head. "I was knocked out during the attack. I never saw a thing."

Algiers
(Song:) From the Night - Richard Boulger
Noah was performing on a trumpet, the song that he had played for Caitlin in the compound in 1.03 Tangled Up in Blue.
Caitlin and Gia were sitting aside, listening quietly.
Gia looked at Caitlin. "He's good, huh?"
Caitlin nodded without saying a word. She seemed content with watching and listening to Noah play.
Gia noticed the way she looked at him, smiling a small smile.
Marcel and Auria walked toward them.
Noah finished the song.
(Song Ends)
Caitlin stood, walking inside Marcel's Loft.
Marcel looked at Noah. "Wow, music man. You actually got Caitlin to come outside and listen to you play. Maybe you two can finally stop acting like acquaintances, Noah."
Noah sighed in annoyance. "Dog with a bone, Marcel. Drop it."
"Only if you two drop the act," Marcel replied.
Noah looked at them, unamused.
Auria smiled a small smile.
Elijah walked closer.
"Let me guess," Auria told them. "Davina's nowhere to be found. She wasn't in the attic. Wasn't anywhere near the lycee."
Noah placed down his trumpet, walking closer. "I have people looking all over this city. She is gone. No doubt to protect Mikael while he recovers."
Marcel sighed. "Auria, think you can do a locator spell?"
"Already tried," Auria told them. "She's already got a cloaking spell up."
"Why would she do that?" Marcel asked.
"She's scared," Auria answered. "What do you expect?"
"If I discover that any of you had even the slightest suspicion that she brought Father back..." Elijah trailed off.
"Yeah, what?" Noah asked. "You gonna threaten us? The people around us? I mean, get in line. The witches hate the vampires, the wolves can kill us any time they like, and if Auria doesn't accept some kind of jacked up treaty all over again, just so that they can punish her for trying to stop the Harvest completely and for telling me and Marcel about the witches linking Caitlin to him, they will kill Auria, if they can find her, and if they can beat her. We can't even go into the Quarter without risking our damn lives. And now, Mikael's back. The vampire who hunts vampires. The vampire who killed my family. You really think that works in any of our favors?"
"You want my help finding Davina?" Auria asked. "I need to know where you stand."
"See, you're an Original," Marcel told him. "Every vampire that's ever been sired is an extension of you and your family. Now, you can walk away from that, and side with Klaus and the wolves. But you're not one of them, and you never will be. You want allies, right? Look around. This is ground zero for a new vampire community. Now, you think that you're better than us, but we're all you got."
"Like it or not, vampires exist because of you," Noah told him, walking toward Gia, nodding to her. Gia nodded. Noah put a hand on her shoulder comfortingly. "And these folks are gonna need your help." Gia nodded. Noah snapped her neck, lying her body to the ground, standing. "Her name's Gia. I fed her my blood a few hours ago. You can help us or not. It's up to you."
"And, Elijah..." Auria trailed off. Elijah turned to her. "If you hurt Davina in any way, our deal is off. I mean it. Everything. Then your father is going to be the last thing that you'll have to worry about."
Elijah took this in, deciding to agree with the terms, seeming to think that they were reasonable.

From 2.03 "Every Mother's Child", in the courtyard, Klaus, Kassandra, Elijah, Hayley and Mikayla were standing by a table of an array of fruit and other breakfast food.
The silver lid on the platter began to rattle, startling them.
Klaus looked uneasy, lifting the platter, releasing three starlings that flew up toward the ceiling, making the five of them to reflexively duck, all puzzled, nervous.
"What the hell was that?" Mikayla asked.
Klaus reached for the invitation on the tray, opening it.

Noah stopped, turning to face Caitlin, smirking. "I know."
Noah looked at Caitlin in amusement, pulling his tank top off, leaving him shirtless.
Caitlin didn't know how to react.
Noah looked from his built body to Caitlin.
Noah: (voice over from 2.03 Every Mother's Child) "Had to get you to stop avoiding me somehow."

"Be sure you're ready for them this evening," Cassie/Esther told him.
"I've handled everything exactly as you've instructed," Vincent/Finn told her.
From 2.03 "Every Mother's Child", in the backroom of a store, Auria held a python still in front of her. A woman took a knife, stabbing the snake, disemboweling it.

Caitlin looked at him for a moment. "I'm fighting to live."
From 2.03 "Every Mother's Child", in the dining room of the compound, Kassandra and Mikayla were talking.
"Every good story needs a wicked witch," Mikayla told her.
From 2.03 "Every Mother's Child", in the dining room of the compound, Klaus, Elijah, Vincent/Finn and Cassie/Esther were dressed or the dinner party.
Klaus slammed his hands against the table, standing, looking at Cassie/Esther. "Mother, you are the author of everything I am."

Klaus, Kassandra and Elijah raised their arms over their faces to shield themselves from the broken glass instinctively.
