chapter 2 - No Quarter

Outfits in the external link

From 4.01 "Gather Up the Killers", in the church, Auria was giving a service to everyone.

Klaus: (voice over) "Previously on Worlds Colliding (The Originals)"

Auria looked at everyone. "This week marks five years since the fall of the Mikaelsons."

From 4.01 "Gather Up the Killers", in the compound, there was a slow pan through the home.

Auria: (voice over from 4.01 Gather Up the Killers) "Five years of peace."

From 3.19 "No More Heartbreaks", in the guest bedroom, Cami's body was quickly overcome with grey/black veins that crept up her chest and over her head, signaling her death.

Auria: (voice over from 4.01 Gather Up the Killers) "We paid a high price for that peace."

From 4.01 "Gather Up the Killers", in the church, Auria was giving her service. "We snatched back our freedom."

From 3.21 "Give 'Em Hell, Kid", in the lycee, Davina continued to hold the glowing depot d'agente. The tomb continued to shake around Davina. She looked ahead, finishing her spell. She was engulfed by a beautiful, blinding bright white light.

Auria: (voice over from 4.01 Gather Up the Killers) "We severed our link with our Ancestors."

From 4.01 "Gather Up the Killers", in the compound, Kassandra slowly walked into the courtyard of the compound. She stopped in the middle of the ruins, looking at the Mikaelson crest on the wall expressionlessly.

Auria: (voice over from 4.01 Gather Up the Killers) "Kassandra Mikaelson remains hexed and emotionless, but she leaves the city to us."

From 4.01 "Gather Up the Killers", in the church, Auria was giving her service. "She loses control over herself and she kills humans, werewolves, vampires and witches alike. We've been trying to help her, but she doesn't want to be helped, and we can't stop her or control her."

From 4.01 "Gather Up the Killers", in the dungeon, Klaus was chained up and spelled into the boundary, looking at his sister. "With the hex still on your mind, but the Ancestors no longer able to reach you, do you still see hallucinations of your lost love?"

From 4.01 "Gather Up the Killers", outside the cafe, in the dungeon, in Lucien's Penthouse, and in Rousseau's, Kassandra saw her hallucination of Lucien.

Kassandra: (voice over from 4.01 Gather Up the Killers) "You mean the lost love that you destroyed?"

From 4.01 "Gather Up the Killers", in the church, Vincent and Maxine were talking.

"Maxine," Vincent told her.

"It's Adam," Maxine told him. "He never came home."

From 4.01 "Gather Up the Killers", in the abandoned house, Adam walked into the room, shining his flashlight over the Ouroboros sigil. A bright blue light was starting to shine over Adam from behind in a very creepy, very eerie way. Adam turned around, looking into the light, seeming to see something that terrified him, screaming.

Maxine: (voice over from 4.01 Gather Up the Killers) "I've looked everywhere."

From 4.01 "Gather Up the Killers", in the farmhouse, Hope saw that Rae was tossing and turning, crawling closer to wake Rae up from the nightmare. "Rae?"

Rae slowly woke up. "Hope?"

"You okay?" Hope asked.

"I had a bad dream," Rae told her.

The drawings all over the beds and the floors made by Hope and Rae were the same Ouroboros sigils that was on the wall in the abandoned house where Adam had just been.

From 4.01 "Gather Up the Killers", in the chambre, Mikayla was talking to the siblings. "The Huntress is strong, and she is an actual alter ego inside Nicola that loathes her."

From 4.01 "Gather Up the Killers", outside the warehouse, Nicola was losing control in slaughtering the vampires.

Mikayla: (voice over from 4.01 Gather Up the Killers) "Nicola is giving herself vervain to keep her weak enough to where Tory can still control her, but it's hard on both of them."

From 4.01 "Gather Up the Killers", outside the farmhouse, Hayley, Mikayla, Kaylin, Nicola, Kacie, Tory, Luke and Eliza were talking.

"After all this time, we are this close to getting them back," Hayley told them.

From 3.22 "The Bloody Crown", in the compound, the vampire slit Freya with the poisonous ring.

Tory: (voice over from 4.01 Gather Up the Killers) "I found a cure for Freya's poison."

From 3.22 "The Bloody Crown", in the compound, Rebekah and Klaus looked at the cursed weal on Rebekah's arm.

Tory: (voice over from 4.01 Gather Up the Killers) "I can siphon Rebekah and Kassandra's hexes with the right spell."

From 4.01 "Gather Up the Killers", in the warehouse, Tory was siphoning magic off of Mikayla and Eliza to complete the spell that saved Elijah, Kol, Rebekah and Freya.

Eliza: (voice over from 4.01 Gather Up the Killers) "We have almost all of the ingredients that we need to cure Elijah and Kol's beast bites."

From 4.01 "Gather Up the Killers", outside the warehouse, Kaylin, Hayley, Mikayla, Elijah and Nicola were talking.

"Tory siphoned Rebekah's hex away with the right spell," Kaylin told him. "She can do the same with Kassandra's if we can get close enough. Sybil used her psychic powers to make Nikki turn her humanity on. Tory thinks she can do the same thing to Kassandra. There's just two people left."

Elijah nodded in agreement. "Let's go get them."

From 4.01 "Gather Up the Killers", in the dungeon, Klaus and Kassandra were talking.

"Despite the hex and your best efforts, your humanity is trying to flicker through the darkness," Klaus told her. He stood from within the boundary spell and the chains, looking at his sister on the other side of the barrier. "You're afraid to face your humanity. You kept me alive all this time, even though you know that killing me would have killed our siblings as well. Do you know what that proves... sister? It proves that you can be saved."

Klaus' speech clearly managed to make Kassandra feel at least the tiniest amount of humanity and regret, and the pain that she felt made her afraid of what she would feel if she let it all the way on, because she knew that if she felt the complete return of her humanity, she would feel nothing but agony because of what was done to her and what she was made to do.

Kassandra quickly closed herself off once again, becoming cold and expressionless, picking up Papa Tunde's blade, driving it into Klaus' heart, making him scream in agony, letting him fall unconscious inside the boundary. "Let that prove you wrong... brother."

Day One

Morning - Woods

A man in a prison orange jumpsuit was running for his life in the middle of the woods, terrified, trying to get away, tripping and falling to the ground, picking himself up, continuing to run, hiding behind a tree.

He heard Kol's voice. "I admit, I do like a good chase. However..." Kol rushed in front of the prisoner. "I am quite famished, so..."

Kol transformed, rushing closer to bite the prisoner on the neck, feeding, making the man scream at the top of his lungs.

----

Road

Elijah, Rebekah and Kol were trying to get their fill after five years of sleeping without feeding, killing a bus full of prisoners in the middle of nowhere. Hayley, Mikayla, Freya, Kaylin and Nicola were standing next to them, while Kacie, Tory, Luke and Eliza were standing down the road waiting for them by their car.

They heard the victim of Kol's screaming from in the woods.

"Good Lord, that one has some lungs on him," Rebekah told them. "He should've been an opera singer. Might've ended better for him, actually."

Elijah was sitting on the ground with a guard's head in his lap, feeding with a bit of blood trickling down his lips.

Freya looked around at the bodies. "Is this absolutely necessary?"

"That depends," Kaylin told her. "Do you want your siblings at their full strength, or do you plan on rescuing Klaus and Kassandra on your own?"

Tory sighed, rolling her eyes in annoyance. "Well, death rattles are distracting, and Freya and I are trying to break a cloaking spell."

Elijah pulled out his handkerchief, calling out to Kol so that he would just kill the still screaming man. "Kol! Would you please?" They heard Kol snap the man's neck, ending his screams. "Thank you." Elijah looked at Freya and Tory. "You were saying?"

"We can sense Niklaus and Kassandra are still in New Orleans," Freya told them. "Niklaus is most likely somewhere underground." Kol walked toward them, blood leaking down his chin. "We can't get a read on exactly where unless we're in the city itself."

"Yeah, that's gonna be a problem," Nicola told them. "The vampires that I marked are still in New Orleans. I can see what they see. Hear what they hear and think. As you can imagine, the place is crawling with vampires, all of whom hate all of you, and fear all of us."

"See, having a supernatural vampire vampire Huntress does come in handy," Mikayla told them.

Kacie smirked slightly, tilting her head. "Well, you're right about that, Mikayla."

Mikayla looked at Kacie, smirking a bit.

"A Huntress that luckily doesn't have the means to kill us," Kol told them.

"Well, the Huntress may want to kill you, but I don't," Nicola told them. "This alter ego thing is a bitch to go through. At least I have the Hybrid Heretic to keep me under control for now."

Rebekah, Kaylin and Hayley chuckled in amusement at the way she had said that. Mikayla, Freya and Kol were amused. Elijah was slightly amused but more concerned. They together walked down the road toward Tory, Luke, Kacie and Eliza.

"Whatever we do, we need to do it fast," Eliza told them.

"Well, I wasn't planning on a pub crawl," Kacie told them. "I don't want to stay any longer than we have to, but we need to go."

"Wait, wait, wait, wait," Luke told them. "We're not doing this today?"

"Haven't Nik and Sandra suffered enough?" Rebekah asked.

"Yes," Kol answered. "And I've died, twice."

"Technically, if you count the night that you turned into a vampire, you've died three times, Kol," Eliza told him.

Kol gestured to Eliza in thanks. "Thank you, Eliza. And while I love both our siblings, I don't look forward to having Kassandra try to kill us again."

"Kaylin and I've been away from our daughters long enough," Hayley told them. "If you're afraid..."

"No, we're not scared," Eliza told them. "We just know that this is not gonna be easy, on any of us."

"It's called being sensible," Luke told them. "Until Freya and Tory can make enough cures with Freya's werewolf hostage, Kassandra can basically chew through all our throats."

"Enough," Elijah told them. "We're all in danger. We free Niklaus and save Kassandra today. Even if I have to burn that city to the ground."

"The sooner we save them, the sooner you can leave if you want to," Kaylin told them.

Tory sighed. "If you can get me close enough to Kassandra, I can take her hex away and get her humanity back."

Luke nodded. "Sold. Yeah, this should be easy. A walk in the park. Not."

"Don't make me kill you," Kol told him.

Eliza smirked slightly in amusement. "Kol, Luke helped us save you, too."

"Luke, Kacie, Tory, Eliza, they all did," Mikayla told them, looking at the four. "Even Lindsey and Ryan helped you help us. Thank you."

Elijah, Freya, Rebekah and Kol nodded in agreement.

"If we're gonna do this, let's do this," Kacie told them. "We don't have much time."

They all nodded in agreement, walking down the street.

Worlds Colliding (The Originals)

New Orleans, Louisiana

Rousseau's

(Song:) Powerful - Major Lazer feat. Ellie Goulding and Tarrus Riley

Noah and Caitlin were sitting at the bar, discussing things.

"So, what's the issue?" Caitlin asked.

"Some vampires tracked Hayley, Mikayla, Kaylin, Nicola and company to Austin, Texas, where the Labonair Ladies and the Salvatore Senoritas were attacked while visiting one of the locals," Noah answered. "Their company being Kacie Lockwood, Luke Thompson, Tory Donovan and Eliza Forbes, the ones that we were talking to Marcel and Auria about before."

"Well, it's not the first time someone's tried and failed to take down those girls or their durable friends," Caitlin told him.

"True, but this time they weren't the only ones they were tracking," Noah told her. "The other target, whoever the others were with, she must have been important. So I did some digging. Does the name Malraux ring a bell?"

Caitlin nodded. "The Malraux pack was wiped out by Lucien over five years ago."

"So everyone thought," Noah told her. "But the woman they met with is in fact the last of the line. Shortly after, at the warehouse where the fight went down, they see Elijah, Freya, Kol and Rebekah walk out together. The Mikaelsons..."

Caitlin realized what had happened, sighing. "Hayley, Mikayla, Kaylin, Nicola, Kacie, Eliza, Tory and Luke cured the other Mikaelson siblings, woke them up. I thought that Labonair sisters, the Salvatore girls, and the Lockwood, Forbes, Donovan and Thompson could do it."

"They could be on their way right now," Noah told her. "Not just for Klaus, but for Kassandra, too, and if they make her mad like her family is so good at doing, especially right now..."

Caitlin sighed worriedly. "A lot of people can get hurt."

"Yeah," Noah answered.

"Noah, what the hell are we gonna do?" Caitlin asked.

Noah shook his head. "I have no idea, Caitlin."

Kassandra was across the bar, behind the wall, hidden from their sight, listening to them. She had heard everything, knowing that her siblings were coming, looking numb and expressionless.

St. Anne's Church

Vincent and Maxine were in the middle of casting a locator spell.

Auria and Marcel were standing nearby.

Auria was on the phone. "Okay, Will. Great, thank you. I owe you." She hung up, walking toward Marcel, Vincent and Maxine. "Maxine, I was just talking to my buddy from NOLA PD, and he was saying he's gonna make sure that all the cops keep an eye out. He also says there's still no signs of Adam at any of the hospitals."

"Um, how are things coming with the locator spells?" Marcel asked.

"There's no clear reading," Vincent answered. "It's as if... he's everywhere."

Maxine was worrying and panicking, though trying to keep a clear head. "I don't know what to do."

"Hmm, Maxine, what do your boy and his friends like to do for fun?" Marcel asked. "I mean, do they like to explore abandoned buildings? Um, old homes? Haunted houses?"

Maxine sighed worriedly. "I would say no, he knows better. But lately... Why do you ask?"

Auria sighed. "My buddy, the detective, he was telling me that they've been getting a lot of reports lately from Old County Line road. Reports of broken glass, loud noises at night. Now, the police did a drive-by, but they didn't see anything. And it's... it's got me wondering. It's best to be sure. I'm gonna go have a look, okay?"

"Auria, I'll come with you," Marcel told her.

"Okay, sure," Auria told him. "Thanks, Marcel." She looked at Vincent and Maxine. "You two stay here. The best thing for you to do is just keep working here, all right? Marcel and I got this."

Vincent picked up a piece of carved wood. "Auria, take this with you. It's a protection charm. Kind of like that talisman that Josephine LaRue gave you. I thought maybe if you have this..."

Auria nodded understandingly, taking the protection charm. "Mm. Thank you."

"Every little bit helps," Marcel told them.

Vincent nodded in agreement.

Auria and Marcel walked away down the aisle toward the door to leave.

Josh's Apartment - Living Room

Josh was getting ready to leave.

A new boyfriend of his came up next to Josh, taking his jacket from him.

Josh smiled. "Hey. Hey, I gotta go."

The boy shook his head. "No, you don't. You don't own the place, you just work there."

"Yeah, exactly," Josh told him. "I'm the manager. Which means that I have... managerial obligations."

"Maybe you're doing some managerial things here," the boy told him. "Your friends own the place. It's not like they're gonna fire you. Stay."

The boy started to kiss him.

Josh smiled. "Eddie..." Eddie continued to kiss him, and Josh started to rethink. "Okay. Okay, fine, I'll stay. You're right, Caitlin and Noah would totally let me off the hook. I haven't missed anyone this much in a long time, anyway."

They smiled, continuing to kiss.

Rousseau's

(Song:) Beautiful People - Sonomad

Noah and Caitlin were running the club, having things under control. They heard rustling from nearby the main room, exchanging a look, walking toward the noise, realizing who was there, sighing.

"Please, help yourself to anything you'd like," Noah told them. They turned around to see Rebekah, Elijah, Nicola, Hayley, Mikayla, Kacie and Kol walk in. "We got bourbon, blood."

"Thank you for the offer, Noah, but we are not here for drink or food," Rebekah told him.

"Besides, we just ate," Hayley told them.

"Oh, that's too bad," Caitlin told them sarcastically. "If you don't want blood, I have some welcome back shots." Rebekah, Hayley, Kol and Kacie chuckled in amusement. Nicola and Mikayla smirked slightly. Elijah was unamused. "Well, thanks for waiting in the shadows and waiting for us to clear the place out and not just, you know, killing everybody."

"We're only monsters by necessity, Caitlin," Elijah told her.

"You don't seem very surprised to see us," Nicola told them.

"We knew that you guys and your friends cured the Mikaelsons and that it wasn't gonna be long before you showed up," Noah told them.

"Do you own this place now?" Kacie asked. "Together. That is very sweet."

"Right?" Mikayla asked. "Caitlin Harris and Noah Dumaine, two lovers who control the rest of the fallen Strix also have club circuits to add to their name."

Kacie and Mikayla exchanged an amused look and smirk. Nicola, Hayley and Rebekah were amused by their comments and looks.

Caitlin pointed at Kacie. "You must be Kacie Lockwood. Tory Donovan's sister. We know all about you two, Eliza Forbes and Luke Thompson, and Luke's brother Ryan Thompson, and Ryan's wife Lindsey Davis-Thompson helping the Labonairs, Salvatores and the Mikaelsons."

"You would be correct," Kacie answered. "I know all about you two, too. Caitlin Harris and Noah Dumaine."

Kol looked around. "Everyone here seems nice, and terribly vulnerable, as humans tend to be."

Noah smirked sarcastically, nodding, rolling his eyes, taking a drink. "Okay."

"Just tell us what you want and let's get this over with," Caitlin told them.

"I assume it has to do with Klaus and Kassandra," Noah told them.

"You would be correct," Nicola told them. "Do you have the slightest idea of where we can find them?"

Caitlin and Noah exchanged a look, sighing worriedly.

Caitlin took a drink.

Lucien's Penthouse - Living Room

(Song:) Forever Mine - Andra Day

Kassandra was listening to the song on record player, looking affected by everything that was going on, though she tried not to be. "Lucien."

Her hallucination of Lucien appeared behind her, sliding his hands along her shoulders, making her think that she could feel his touch. "A girl who freed herself and countless others without her humanity should not be this down."

Lucien took Kassandra by the hand, spinning her around in a dance, pulling her closer.

"Why are you still here?" Kassandra asked. "I did what the Ancestors wanted me to do, hexed me and tortured me into doing. Made me see you to convince me to stop fighting the curse."

"You almost did what they wanted you to do," Lucien corrected. "You didn't see it through, darling."

Kassandra backed away from the hallucination of Lucien and the dance, still conflicted and confused with everything though she tried to shut it all out. "My entire family nearly died, and I made them all suffer. I didn't think they would succeed in saving my siblings."

"But you knew that if you had just killed your brother when you learned that he was linked to the others, that you would kill them all," Lucien told her. "You didn't, and why didn't you? Maybe it's because he was right?"

Kassandra slowly shook her head. "No."

"No, he was wrong, or no, you just don't want to admit that he was right?" Lucien asked. Kassandra didn't answer. Lucien walked closer to her. "If you want to know why I'm still here, you should be asking yourself that. Maybe it's the hex. Maybe it's just your brain's way of distracting yourself from all of the pain. Your subconscious fabricating the illusion of my presence in order to escape your agony."

"I don't feel pain the way I did before," Kassandra told him in annoyance. "Not emotionally."

"Just mentally and physically due to the hex that you still endure," Lucien told her. "It has turned you into a far different girl than you remember, and you can't stand the thought of that, can you?"

"Do not speak of that girl," Kassandra told him, her anger flaring up slightly. "She was a fool to love her family and a fool to love you."

Lucien chuckled in amusement. "Ouch. Irritability is another form of sublimation. Maybe you are angry with me. The real me for getting you into this mess. But you know just as well as I that I am not the only one at fault here. If your brother hadn't compelled me for 500 years, I would still be sane, and so would you. Neither of us would have died."

"Shut up," Kassandra told him, backing away into the couch to sit down.

"It's okay to admit what you deep down feel," Lucien told her. "I can't tell anyone what you tell me, being, you know, I'm dead. You had to watch me die three times, right in front of you. Stabbed in the heart by Klaus a thousand years ago, shot in the heart with wood by Elijah half a decade ago, merely weeks before Klaus ripped it out. They destroyed your heart, too, didn't they?"

Kassandra was getting angry, though she tried to ignore him. "Enough."

(Song Ends)

"Admit it, Kassandra," Lucien told her. "Deep down, you still care for me. You still love me. And you miss me, despite everything that I've done, and everything you went through. Maybe it's because I was once the love of your life that showed you the light in the world before my light and sanity was taken away from me." Kassandra looked down, bringing her knees to her chest, wrapping her arms around her knees, leaning her head against her arms, because even if the hex was making her angry, it was also stirring other emotions like guilt and regret, though she tried not to let it. "You know that your humanity is trying to turn on despite everything that happened, and that means that you are able to feel little lights of emotion in the black sea that is the void that you want to remain in to escape the unendurable agony that you know you will feel once you turn it on." Lucien walked closer, kneeling in front of Kassandra to look her in the eyes, though Kassandra tried to avoid the hallucination's gaze. "You'll hate me for turning you into what you are now, and for trying to kill your family when you were in transition even when I had told you that we would leave them be if you accepted my offer. Deep down, you know that was because of the Ancestors inside my head just as much as they were inside your own, Kassandra. So maybe you would find a way to forgive me, but forgiving your family is the next step. Maybe you would be able to see past your differences, and know that they did their best to save you, even if it means that they destroyed me, and Davina. And even if you could forgive your family because you know that everything they did, they did for you... what would really be the hard part is forgiving yourself. For not seeing what Klaus did to me before I showed everyone. For not being able to stop the way you felt about me even when everything was going up in flames, including you, literally. For falling prey to the Ancestors' powers and wishes and trying to kill your family and making them suffer for a half a decade. For taking them away from Hayley, Mikayla, Kaylin, Nicola... Hope."

Kassandra was only more furious and upset at the mention of her extended family, her friends and her niece. "Stop talking! You're not making this any easier."

Lucien smirked slightly in amusement, almost warmly and kindly. "I wish I could make things easier, my love. But you heard Caitlin and Noah at the bar." Kassandra started to gaze off. "You left Klaus alive, and that was your mistake. Because now your family has woken up. And you know that they won't leave you here to deal with an insanity hex that drives you out of control with all the strength in the world in your hands. They won't let him suffer any longer, either, will they?"

"I know that they're coming," Kassandra told him distantly. "Trying to save me from what I've become because of their mistakes."

"And Caitlin and Noah said that they won't be alone," Lucien told her. "Maybe they could be able to save you, to take the hex, to convince you to turn your humanity on. But what then? Are you to go back to suffering like you were before?"

"Isn't that better than the way I'm suffering now?" Kassandra asked.

Lucien sighed, giving her a look that was pleading yet stern. "If they come for you... will you be able to kill them to stop them from turning you back into the girl that was believed to have a heart of stone before your family and I shattered it and left you in devastation, leaving you vulnerable to the Ancestors, to the hex? Will you be able to go through with it this time, Sandra?"

Kassandra didn't look as if she knew the answer to that.

St. Louis Cathedral - Bell Tower

Kaylin, Tory, Luke, Eliza and Freya walked in.

It was dusty and falling apart.

"All clear, Tory, Freya," Eliza told them.

"This is where you absolutely had to do a locator spell?" Luke asked.

Freya pulled out a map to start the spell with Tory. "Well, when I first moved to New Orleans, I primed the space. Marked it with my magic, made it mine."

"This dusty bell tower maybe your own, but the vampires in this city listen to Kassandra," Luke told her. "And we're nothing but targets."

"All the more reason to let them get to work, Luke," Eliza told him. "The sooner we find Klaus, the sooner we can save Kassandra, the sooner we can get out of here."

"Yeah, and maybe we can all work together to get Kassandra to let us save her," Tory told them. "Just so you know, it's gonna take all of us to get this done."

Kaylin sighed. "Swell."

Freya cleared her throat. "It won't take long." She used a knife to cut her finger. "Once Tory and I find him, we can send someone to him as a messenger in astral projection form to let him know that we're coming for him to ease his mind and pain. I won't be able to, because I will meet with my other siblings in the cemetery to try to get through Kassandra, so it has to be someone else."

Tory, Luke, Eliza and Freya looked at Kaylin.

Kaylin chuckled, tilting her head, walking closer. "Hell, yeah, I'll go. I've been wanting to get something off my chest for a long time when it came to Klaus."

"And which would that be, Kaylin?" Tory asked, slightly teasing. "The fact that the Devil brought back Rae, or the fact that Klaus compelled you, or the fact that Nicola turned into the Huntress, or that Stefan and Damon are human now?"

"All of the above," Kaylin answered. "I have a lot to get through today, Tory. We all do." They nodded in agreement. "Tell me what to do."

"Just tell him we're coming for him," Freya told her. "If he has the blade in his chest, then you'll be more in his mind, unable to make physical contact. But you'll be able to talk to him and tell him everything that is happening."

Eliza nodded in agreement. "Let's do it."

Rousseau's

Caitlin and Noah were clearing out Rousseau's.

"All right, sorry, folks," Noah told them. "We'll, uh, we'll get that gas leak fixed up, and we'll get back tomorrow with two for one hurricanes."

A man handed Caitlin a glass. "Here you go."

"Thank you," Caitlin told him. "Great. Just don't steal the glasses." Once everyone was gone, Caitlin and Noah walked inside, closing the double doors, turning around to walk toward the bar. Caitlin sighed, calling out. "Everyone's out. Place is yours."

Elijah, Rebekah, Kol, Mikayla, Hayley, Kacie and Nicola walked toward them.

"See?" Kol asked. "Wasn't that easier than having us try and kill everyone?"

"Yeah," Caitlin answered. "So, what now?"

"We can lure Kassandra to the cemetery while the others go to the compound to save Nik," Rebekah told them.

"Kassandra is not going to fall for some ludicrous diversion, not even with the hex on her mind after all these years," Elijah told them.

"He's right," Noah told them. "Kassandra may have went crazy, but she's a crazy genius."

Kol pointed at him. "Don't talk about her like that. I don't care if it's true or not. This is our fault. We know that."

"Whether the diversion works or not, you three are walking into a lion's den," Kacie told them.

"I'm going with you," Nicola told them. "Aside from you Originals, I'm the only one out of us with enough strength to fight against Kassandra."

"We'll be fine," Rebekah told them. "We just have to convince her that we've come alone, and all we want to do is talk."

"You are placing yourselves in so much danger," Mikayla told them. "Without Tory there to take the hex away and turn her humanity on, if you do the wrong thing to make Kassandra mad, she might kill you."

"Wouldn't you agree, Noah?" Hayley asked impatiently. "Caitlin?"

"Oh, yeah," Caitlin answered. "But we all know you're not gonna talk them out of this, not when it comes to Kassandra."

Nicola gave them a knowing look. "You're also not gonna convince me not to go with you."

Hayley looked at Noah and Caitlin. "Did you two or Marcel or Auria even try to help Kassandra?"

"Of course we did, Hayley," Caitlin answered. "Auria was looking for a way to try to take the hex off of her, but she can't siphon magic like Tory can, and she couldn't remove the hex alone because it took all of the Ancestors to give Kassandra that hex."

"Listen, we want Kassandra to be free and have her humanity back just as much as the rest of you do, so that no one else in this city is put in danger," Noah told them. "But if you do the wrong thing, she's gonna snap, and we might all die."

"What do you even need us for?" Caitlin asked.

"Well, we had planned on learning everything you know," Kol answered. "But since you know so little, we would like to try our plan."

Mikayla looked at them worriedly. "I know that we have to do this, but you can't face her alone. At least wait until Tory, Kaylin, Luke and Eliza free Klaus so that we can take on Kassandra together so no one has to die."

"We cannot wait any longer," Elijah told them.

"Consider the risk," Kacie told them.

"We have," Elijah told them. "Until Niklaus is freed, we have to at least try to get through to Kassandra." Nicola's phone buzzed. She took it out, looking at the text from Kaylin. Elijah looked at Nicola knowingly. "That's from Kaylin? Telling you that Tory and Freya found Klaus?"

"Yeah," Nicola answered. "Freya's gonna meet us at the cemetery. Tory and Kaylin are gonna take Luke and Eliza to Klaus. Hayley, Mikayla, Kacie, you can either go help them get Klaus, or you can stay hidden with me while we look out for Elijah, Rebekah, Kol and Freya while they talk to Kassandra. But we have to get to both of them by the end of the day."

Everyone was still worried about everything that could go wrong, though they were determined to go through with it.

(Song:) Under My Skin - SPC ECO

Klaus was still chained up with the cursed shackles inside the boundary spell, and though in the real world he couldn't move much because of the pain of Papa Tunde's Blade, in his mind, he was reaching for his chest in an attempt to pull the blade out.

Freya and Tory's spell allowed a mind version of Kaylin to appear in his mind and in his thoughts so she could tell him what was going on. And it was so painful to see him like this even after everything that had happened. Reminded her of having to watch him and her own family suffer through everything. Like a pang in her heart that wouldn't go away.

Even so, Kaylin gave Klaus an amused look, trying to cheer him up and take his mind off the pain. "You just had to piss her off again, didn't you?"

Klaus was surprised to hear Kaylin and see her, sitting up, looking wary that this could be a mind trick, but relieved that she was here at all. "Kaylin. How are you here?"

Kaylin walked closer, looking at him painfully. "Well, I'm not... exactly. Tory and Freya sent me here with a spell. I'm not really here. I can't touch you, I can't free you. Which I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, considering that I've been conflicted on what my first action would be when I saw you again. Either punching you in the face or kissing you like no tomorrow." Klaus couldn't help but chuckle at that, which was Kaylin's goal and made her smile a small smile. "Freya and Tory think that sending me here in astral projection into your head can help you escape the unendurable agony that you're going through right now."

"I can endure this pain," Klaus told her.

"Sure, but paired with the solitude, your great extensional fear of being utterly alone down here in the dark?" Kaylin asked.

Klaus looked up, curious. "You're not as angry at me as I thought you would be for me compelling you to leave."

Kaylin chuckled slightly, nodding expressively. "Oh, I was angry for years, Klaus. But not entirely at you. I know that you did what you did to protect me from Kassandra, even though I hate it when people get into my head. Don't get me wrong, I definitely am annoyed with the fact that you compelled me, but I know you did it for the better."

"It doesn't explain why you're not so angry," Klaus told her, still confused.

Kaylin sighed, not wanting to get into all of the pain over the years to explain to him that she was just too exhausted to be angry anymore, but she knew that she had to tell him. "Well, I had to leave to survive, and if you hadn't made me leave, then I wouldn't have made it out of this city alive, and that probably would've spared me a lot of pain, but I did get something in the end that was worth it. And I'm not just talking about you, even though you are a big part of the reason why my life turned out like this for the past five years."

Klaus managed a small smile. "I miss you, Kaylin."

Kaylin smiled warmly, walking closer. "I miss you, too. I've spent a long time missing you."

Klaus was touched but returned serious and concerned and worried. "But I'm ashamed for you to see me like this. You believe that a part of me is still human even after all I've done, that there is a light in me. That I can be a light for my daughter. But you were always the ray of light in the darkness for me, Kaylin." Kaylin smirked a bit at the irony now that she had Rae. "Outside these walls are legions of vampires who wish me dead. And Kassandra has turned into something else entirely and has left me here to rot. I'm not a light. I am darkness made flesh."

Kaylin walked closer, kneeling in front of Klaus, looking at him seriously and sincerely. "You are the reason that me, Nikki, Hayley, Mikayla, and your family are alive. You bought us the time we needed, and Hayley, Mikayla, Nicola and I got them to wake up. Tory Donovan, Kacie Lockwood, Luke Thompson and Eliza Forbes, they're helping us Salvatore girls and Labonair sisters save you Mikaelsons. Even Lindsey Davis-Thompson and Ryan, from Mystic Falls, whenever they could help us with finding the materials we needed, or sending dark objects with Eliza to help us, they were helping us, too. And we even got Caitlin Harris and Noah Dumaine to help us out, who are helping us now as we speak." Klaus was surprised to hear that all of them were helping. "And we're not just gonna leave you here. You saved us, Klaus. We're coming to save you. You and Kassandra."

Klaus was concerned. "If you all come here, you all will be caught. Kassandra is not stable, Kaylin. Her humanity is trying to turn on but she won't let it on completely, which means that she is completely unpredictable right now. If she gets angry, there's no telling what she might do or who she might kill."

"You know that a little death threat has never stopped any of us," Kaylin told him. Klaus gave her a look. "We're not gonna leave you and Kassandra to suffer, Klaus. We're going to save both of you. I know that in reality, you are laying on the floor unable to move because of that blade in your chest. I'm here to help convince you to take it out, because while I may not be here in physical form, I am here in your thoughts."

"You always are," Klaus told her. "I told you that I would carry you with me to remind me that I'm not alone. I never stopped thinking about you."

"I haven't stopped thinking about you, either," Kaylin told him. "The last half decade has been torture for both of us, and your sister. And I'm telling you now, that it's going to end today."

Klaus was still worried and concerned and horrified for them when it came to the other vampires in the city, mostly Kassandra, though he was relieved that this wouldn't last for much longer.

Kaylin chuckled a little, smiling a small smile.

"Everyone is okay?" Klaus asked.

"They're fine," Kaylin answered. "Tory was able to siphon Rebekah's hex, after she found a way to cure Elijah and Kol's beast bites and Freya's poison."

"How did she find this?" Klaus asked.

Kaylin went on, not really knowing how to begin to explain. "And I spent quite some time alone for the past few years myself, because Nicola was forced to turn into the Huntress." Klaus looked at her in surprise, though he wasn't shocked because some part of him had considered the possibility of Nicola being triggered. "And so I had to look for ways to help both her and your family, until a miracle from the Devil came along. But now that we had all the materials to wake your siblings, we're on the way to save you and your sister."

Klaus knew that she was trying to dodge the question, giving her a look. "Kaylin. How did Tory Donovan find a way to save us, and what do you mean by, 'miracle from the Devil'?"

Kaylin sighed, hesitating, though she knew that she needed to tell him.

Lafayette Cemetery

Kol was standing next to Davina's grave. Freya, Rebekah and Elijah stood nearby.

Kassandra walked closer. When they looked at her, she wiggled her fingers at them in a wave. "Brothers. Sisters."

"We weren't sure you'd show, sister," Freya told her.

"My siblings come back from the brink of death, and you didn't think that I would come to see for myself?" Kassandra asked sarcastically.

"Did you come to make sure that we were okay, or so that you could finish what you started?" Elijah asked.

"It doesn't matter," Kassandra told them. "I know that you were linked to Nik, which is what saved you all. I've known that for a while."

"And yet you didn't kill our brother to kill us," Freya told her. "Is it wrong to wish that means that there is a chance for you? That there's some part of you inside that is worthy of being saved and redeemed in our family?"

"Why would you think that?" Kassandra asked.

"Because you had endless opportunities to kill him, and all of us," Rebekah answered. "We're all still here."

Kol nodded in agreement. "You are capable of being saved, Sandra. And we are here to save you."

Kassandra sighed in annoyance. "I am getting really tired of hearing people say that."

Kassandra turned away.

"Please, Kassandra," Elijah told her. "If you want to prove us wrong, prove us wrong. But if we're right, if some part of you still cares and wishes for this to end, help us. For the sake of our family, for all that we've been through, I am begging you as your brother, to let Niklaus go, and let us help you."

Kassandra's hallucination of Lucien appeared next to her, whispering to her in her ear. "You don't need to be saved, Sandra. You are fine just the way you are. You're better than fine. You're perfect."

Kassandra looked at Lucien for a moment, turning to face her siblings. "And if I say no?"

"You know better than anyone that our family fights for each other," Kol told her. "That we would do anything to save each other. And our family always gets what it wants. No matter if it takes a thousand days or a thousand years."

"That's ironic, coming from him," Lucien told her. "Isn't it your family that betrayed Kol and went against your wishes to sacrifice Davina so that they would have the power to turn me back into an ordinary vampire again so that your brother could kill me once again?"

Kassandra tried to ignore her hallucination, trying to fight her hex, looking at her siblings. "Am I really worth that trouble?"

"Of course you are, Kassandra," Freya answered. "Whatever's happened, it's not because of you. It's because of the Ancestors, because of Lucien--"

"Do not mention his name," Kassandra told her tensely.

Freya nodded carefully in agreement. "Because of him... and because of us. But there's something else you need to know about what really happened five years ago. Rosalita came back from the dead in Mystic Falls to try and kill everyone with Hellfire in an attempt to stop Kaylin and Nicola from waking us, because she is behind most of Lucien's madness."

Kassandra looked at them in confusion. "What are you talking about? What did Rosalita do?"

Nicola, Hayley, Mikayla and Kacie were hiding in the shadows, watching them from a distance in case they needed to get involved.

Caitlin and Noah were now talking to Kaylin, Luke, Tory and Eliza.

Kaylin was focusing on the spell that bridged her mind to Klaus' so that she could lead them to him. "Would you be so kind as to move that freezer unit so that we might have access to the tunnels?"

"Time's ticking, Noah," Tory told him. "Come on, Caitlin."

Noah sighed, walking over to the freezer to move it.

"Are you absolutely certain we're looking in the right place?" Eliza asked.

"Yeah," Kaylin answered. "That tunnel runs the length of the city. Kassandra carved out a section to serve as her personal dungeon. Ingenious and sadistic. Well done, Kassandra."

"Save the compliments for when she comes to kill us," Luke told her. "Your flattery might give her pause."

Eliza smirked in amusement.

"Okay, you're all set here," Noah told them. "So, uh, good luck, break a leg."

"Unless you guys need some help with Kassandra," Caitlin told them.

"No," Tory told them. "We can get it. We're not risking anymore people than we have to."

"But thanks for the offer," Luke told them.

"Good, then let's go," Eliza told them. "We're wasting time."

"Awesome," Luke told them sarcastically.

Kaylin, Tory, Luke and Eliza walked through the tunnels to get below.

Kaylin used the spell that Tory was still casting so that she could talk to Klaus while she was leading them through the tunnels toward him.

(Song:) I Don't Wanna Live Forever - Madilyn Bailey

Klaus was still trapped in the boundary spell, laying down.

In his mind, Kaylin was sitting next to him, though she couldn't touch him, having explained to him about what happened with Cade and Rae and Rosalita.

Klaus was exhausted with the little information she had given him already, and a little overwhelmed. "So you mean to tell me that you sold yourself to the Devil to save me and my family?"

"No, not just you and your family," Kaylin answered. "Me and mine, too. It was the only way. And, in my defense, I'm not the one that sold myself to Cade. Nikki sold Stefan, Damon's and my souls to him after she was awakened as the Huntress. She had had her humanity mostly off because she had just lost Sarah and Tyler after already losing Elijah, and she was desperate enough to do anything to make sure that she didn't have to kill us, so she made us a deal with Cade to where we and Alex would kill for him if he made sure that she didn't have to kill us for real, so that if she lost control and did in fact kill us, Cade would bring us back. I didn't know that Cade was gonna bring Rae back. He did it so that he could leverage me into killing for him."

Klaus smiled slightly. "You did say to me, that if you had been able to keep your child, that you would name her Rae, or him Ray, after what I called you. The ray of light in the darkness. And it sounds to me that Rae was really that ray of light in the darkness for you the past few years." Kaylin nodded in agreement. "And how can you be so sure that Rae is your daughter and not a vision of some kind? Children can't just be conjured on command, Kaylin."

Kaylin chuckled in amusement. "Oh, I am fully aware of that, Klaus. There was still some little piece of Rae inside me since she died while in my womb, and Cade used that remnant to bring her back. When she was born, she tore her way out of me. Killed me in the process, but because of my deal with Cade, I was brought back to life. Have you seen a psychic baby born out of a vampire?"

Klaus gave Kaylin a look, curious but confused and a little amused. "No, I can't say I have."

"A thousand years on this earth, and you've never seen a psychic vampire birth?" Kaylin asked sarcastically. "What are you doing with your immortality, wasting it?" Klaus managed to chuckle at that. Kaylin smiled a small smile at the fact that she was making him feel a little bit better. "Cade didn't just conjure Rae out of nothing. Don't be ridiculous."

"The Devil brought Rae back from your womb because of a deal that you and your family made with him, and I'm the one being ridiculous?" Klaus asked skeptically.

"You wanna be angry that I made a deal with the Devil?" Kaylin asked. "Fine. Be angry." She adopted his accent to tease him. "Welcome to the party, love. I've been here for five years." Klaus smiled a small smile, chuckling despite himself. Kaylin gave him a halfhearted look, speaking in her normal voice. "This is not funny."

"No, I know," Klaus told her.

"Then stop laughing," Kaylin told him in a complaining voice that she was using to make him feel better.

Klaus couldn't continue to chuckle because of the agony of the blade in him, trying to pull it out, groaning in pain. "I'm sorry. It's just..." He stopped, sighing. "You're trying to make me feel better."

"And is it working?" Kaylin asked.

"A little," Klaus answered. "You are adorable when you're mad."

"Yeah, well, I have the tendency to be that way even when I'm not mad," Kaylin told him. "I wanna be angry at you, Klaus, but I'm just so exhausted after everything that happened, that I literally don't have the energy to be mad at you. You compelled me... again. I had my choice taken away from me... again. Not just by you, but by Nicola and my brothers more than once. You, more than anyone, know what choice means to me because of how many times that it was taken from me. But I know that both they and you did it for good reasons instead of bad."

Klaus nodded. "To make sure that you were alive when your family needed you just like my family needed me. I told you that Nicola would need you when she triggered the Huntress curse."

"Yeah, but Nikki didn't do anything to trigger it," Kaylin told him. "Rayna Cruz activated her through a spell, which means that she didn't have to kill a vampire to be awakened."

"And you're saying that Rosalita was a big part of what happened with Lucien five years ago, even when we didn't know it," Klaus told her.

"You don't sound so surprised by that fact," Kaylin told him.

"Maybe because I should have recognized Rosalita's hand in what had happened to all of us," Klaus told her. "She may have made Lucien's madness worse, Kaylin, but I'm the one that compelled him, and killed him. I'm not innocent in this."

"I know that, but you're not absolutely guilty, either," Kaylin told him. "Rosalita is the one that made the original deal with the Ancestors who knows how many years ago to make sure that even after she died, they would take advantage of Lucien and make sure that Kassandra was just as corrupted. In her mind, it was her revenge in case any of you actually found a way to take her down. Like a backup plan to ruin the rest of us for it. How do you feel about that?"

"I feel like I want to rip Rosalita's throat out with my teeth, but I can't because she's already dead, again," Klaus answered.

Kaylin smirked slightly in amusement. "Oh, lovely." She changed the subject to something less angering and less painful. "I got a second chance that I lost when I thought Rae was beaten out of me. I have the second chance to be a mother. I always wanted that, even if I didn't admit it to myself. Now I have it. And it has been the only thing that has kept me and Nikki sane for the last two years. So, if you wanna be mad, be mad, but just know that I finally got what I wanted since the day that I lost Rae."

Klaus was content even while struggling through the pain. "I'm not mad, Kaylin. I know that I would have done the same thing. What makes it better is that you and Nicola were the ones that killed Cade because he was trying to make Nicola kill all of you and using Rae's life and death as leverage against you."

Kaylin smiled. "Weren't you the one that said if anything happened to me, you would rain down Hell on anyone responsible and that you would deliver them an end so cruel that the Devil would weep?" Klaus chuckled. "It's ironic, because I'm the one that actually got to kill the Devil, and Tory got to kill Rosalita again, and destroy Hell along with her." Klaus nodded in agreement, chuckling a bit at the irony. Kaylin looked at him more seriously. "I need you to fight through. Not just for me. For Hope. She's out there, right now. Pull that blade out of your chest. For five years, you had to stay put. In order to keep your family alive, you had to keep yourself alive. No matter what the pain or fear or solitude. But now you can leave. Your daughter's waiting for you."

Klaus looked worried again. "She's older now. She can see me for what I am. What if she sees me as a monster and hates me for it?"

Kaylin managed a small smile, shaking her head. "She doesn't look at you like a monster. Trust me... Nik." They were both reassured when she called him that, both content. "During the last five years, Nikki and I have grown so close to Mikayla, Hayley and Hope. I got to watch her grow. And she misses you so much. She wants you in her life. She wants us to save you, and to save Kassandra. She wants you to come home. And when she sees you, she's going to run into your arms. She will look at you and know that you love her, and that you would do anything for her."

"That's what every father says," Klaus told her. "But I will kill anyone who harms her. Then instead of hating my darkness, she'll learn by example and become a monster herself."

"Is that what you fear?" Kaylin asked.

"I don't want her to fall into that cycle of violence," Klaus told her. "In here, I'm just a myth. The man who sacrificed himself to save the ones he loved. Out there..."

"You'll be the man that will protect his daughter no matter what, even with fights with your family and loved ones," Kaylin told him. "Trust me, we've been over this time and again."

Klaus sighed, looking a little reassured, but still mostly worried. "I need your help, Kaylin."

"I can't pull out that blade," Kaylin told him. "Not yet. The spell Freya and Tory are doing that allows me to talk to you allows me into your mind so I can see what you see and lead the others right to you, but I can't touch you. Yet. And these tunnels stretch through miles of the city, and they can get confusing." Klaus nodded knowingly in agreement. "You're the one that has to face your fears. Tell me. Tell me what you're afraid of, please."

Klaus sighed, still looking scared about his future with his daughter and what would happen to her because of him or by him. "Fine. I do not wish to be the father that I had, nor do I wish to be the brother Kassandra has come to loathe. Perhaps I'm better off as a myth, and Hope is better off without me. Maybe you are, too, along with all of my family."

Kaylin was only slightly hurt by that, because she could understand the fear and the self-hatred, though she knew the truth that he didn't. "Every parent is scared of screwing up. At least, the good ones are. Rae is different from the others like Hope. She has this psychic ability that I can't begin to understand, and the fact that Hope and Rae are different with powers that they're not even close to learning how to control, and the fact that Hayley and I were able to raise them together, with the help of Mikayla and Nikki... it makes them as close as they can be. Hayley was scared of screwing up with Hope on her own. I was terrified of not doing right by Rae, after getting her back after 153 years. But we managed to pull through, because of Mikayla and Nikki, and better than we thought we could. Especially because Tory was able to be there with us, helping the girls learn control, just as she was controlling Nikki so she didn't have to hurt anyone else she loved." Klaus was curious and in wonder to hear all this. "The past five years made me realize that I cannot exist without you. Even when you compelled me to forget you, I knew that I was missing something, some piece of my life. I used to call Nicola Nik before you gave me my memories back, and maybe that was because subconsciously, I knew that you were gone and I didn't want you to be. And even when I tried to hate you, I knew I couldn't. That I can't breathe without you, because when I saw you, I felt like air finally filled me even though I have to see you suffer like this. And throughout everything that I went through, all I could think about was how much I wanted you to be there. Hope wants you to be there just as bad. Both of us, your siblings... we need you, Nik. And Rae... she's been able to see you through my memories. And she doesn't judge because the Devil brought her back to life, and she wants to meet the man that actually cared whether or not her mother died. Rae wants to know you, so you know that Hope does, too." Klaus was stunned speechless with the confession for a moment, not knowing how to react, looking at Kaylin wonderingly. "Now, we both had messed up parents that have either tried to kill us or have actually killed us. And our families have been dysfunctional lunatics. But it's up to us to break the cycle of chaotic families with Hope and Rae. History can repeat itself, and if we're not careful, it will. But we owe it to both of our daughters to try and change the narrative, for them and for us."

Klaus looked absolutely touched and reassured, given strength by this, nodding in agreement.

Lafayette Cemetery

Elijah, Kol, Freya and Rebekah were trying to get through to Kassandra while Nicola, Mikayla, Kacie and Hayley were watching from their hiding spots.

Kassandra was still hallucinating Lucien, having been filled in on Rosalita's role in all of this. "You're telling me that Rosalita, who was responsible for both of Finn and Kol's deaths, both in Mystic Falls and in New Orleans, is also involved in Lucien's destruction as much as my own? Are you assuming that is making me think more clearly or more angrily, because I am mad."

"We told you this so that you know this is not on you," Elijah told her.

"And wishing that it would make me grant you mercy because it is not completely your fault, either, but the fault of a psychotic psychic bitch that was killed the third time by her Doppelganger," Kassandra told them. "The first two times Rosalita died, Kaylin killed her, and then she let herself die when Kol, Finn and Esther tried to kill her."

"Yes, it seems that even in Rosalita's death, I can't get away from my psychotic ex," Kol told her. "But you know of a thing that Rosa never did. You know mercy."

"They don't deserve mercy," Lucien told her. "Yes, Rosalita may have had a hand in this, but they are not innocent. They still did everything they did. Do not let them prey on you like this."

Kassandra was confused and overwhelmed, growing increasingly angry and out of control with all of this conflicting information and the clashing voices. "Enough, all of you!" She looked at Lucien angrily. "Just stop!"

"What are you looking at?" Kol asked.

"Do you see Lucien right now?" Rebekah asked. "Is that why you're so out of sorts like this?"

"You can't let them have this kind of hold over you, Kassandra," Lucien told her. "End this once and for all."

"What is he saying to you?" Freya asked.

"End it, Sandra!" Lucien told her.

Kassandra held her head in her hands, upset but angry, absolutely overwhelmed. "Shut up! Shut up, all of you. Stop talking. Nothing!"

Kassandra started to transform in anger, still overwhelmed and upset.

Elijah, Kol, Rebekah and Freya looked at Kassandra anxiously, absolutely worried with her state of mind and what she could do when she was pushed like this, even though she was pushed by the hex and her hallucinations, and not by her family.

----~----

Kassandra was trying to get herself to calm down, though she couldn't, rushing over to Elijah, pushing him against the tomb next to him. "Is this the emotional response you were expecting? Is this what you wanted? That's why you brought me here, isn't it? Are you satisfied?"

"Kassandra, let him go, please," Rebekah told her pleadingly, begging. "I'm sorry this happened to you. I'm sorry for the things that we can't control, but you need to listen to us."

They heard vampires rushing into the cemetery.

Kol looked at Kassandra. "You sneaky little thing. True to form, you brought a crowd in for a show."

"It's not a show that I'll be apart of," Kassandra told them. "I know you're trying to distract me. Aren't you? Who are on their way to rescue Nik right now?" When they didn't answer, Kassandra transformed angrily. "Who?"

Freya cast a pain infliction spell on Kassandra to make her let go of Elijah, though she didn't want to have to do this.

Vampires rushed closer from all around them. Vampire 1 tried to attack Freya from behind. Nicola threw her sword through his neck before he could touch her, decapitating him, watching him fall dead, rushing closer to grab her sword from the ground, spinning it around.

Hayley punched Vampire 2 in the face, kneeing him in the stomach, trying to punch him in the face again. Vampire 2 ducked, trying to rip her heart out. Hayley caught his wrist, biting it viciously, pushing him to the ground.

Vampire 3 tried to punch Mikayla. Mikayla ducked, punching him in the stomach, grabbing him, spinning around at vampire speed to slam him into a crypt, ripping his heart out, letting the body and the heart fall.

Kassandra looked at Hayley, Mikayla and Nicola, unsurprised. "Of course." The three girls looked at her, slightly nervous. Vampire 4 tried to attack Kacie. Kacie caught his hand, spinning closer to bite him on the neck, ripping his throat out, killing him, letting him fall. "Well, seeing Kacie Lockwood help the Mikaelsons, Salvatores and Labonairs is a surprise. Though, I suppose it shouldn't be, considering the fact that her sister Tory Donovan is sired to our niece Hope. I guess that means her boyfriend Luke Thompson is around somewhere as well."

Kacie sighed. "Long time, Kassandra."

Kassandra smirked. "Indeed it has, Kacie. Maybe it's time to go pay them a visit."

Kassandra rushed out of the cemetery, leaving the vampires to deal with her family and friends.

Abattoir Compound - Dungeon

Kaylin was able to lead Tory, Luke and Eliza up to the dungeon of the tunnels where Klaus was suffering with the blade in his chest while Kaylin could still talk to him in his mind.

"Klaus?" Eliza asked.

Luke couldn't break open the door because the chains were spelled. "Damn it."

"Let me," Tory told him, casting a silent spell that broke the locks on the gate, allowing them to open the door and walk inside.

"Klaus?" Eliza asked. Klaus was trying to pull the blade out of his chest. "We're here."

Tory put her hands up to the barrier around Klaus. "This spell is strong. It's been reinforced over time, which means it's a lot of magic that is going to fuel me big time if I siphon it away."

"How long will it take for you to siphon it?" Luke asked.

"A little bit of time," Tory answered.

"We don't have time," Kaylin told them.

"It won't be long," Tory told them, laying her hands on the boundary, allowing her hands to glow red as she started to siphon. "Kaylin, I just need you to get Klaus to get that blade out of his chest until I'm done."

"I'll do it," Kaylin told them. "Luke, Eliza, you keep watch."

Luke and Eliza nodded in agreement.

While Tory continued to siphon, Kaylin knelt on the outside of the boundary circle on the other side of Klaus, closing her eyes to talk to him in his mind.

Abandoned House - Outside

Marcel and Auria walked up to the abandoned house, walking up the stairs to the door, looking around the front yard and the woods around the house, turning to the door.

"This is the place?" Marcel asked.

"Yeah," Auria answered. "I'm feeling some bad mojo inside. This place is filled with darkness. It's probably a good thing that you came with me."

Marcel nodded in agreement, opening the door, walking inside, holding the door open for Auria.

Auria smiled a small smile, walking inside.

----

Inside - Hallway

Marcel and Auria were looking around.

Auria sighed, calling out. "Adam?"

Marcel found a flashlight nearby, walking toward it, picking it up, trying to flick it on and off, but the battery was out. He heard a whoosh behind him, turning around, but he didn't see anything. "What's that bad mojo that you feel? What is it telling you?"

"Everything inside me is telling me to be careful," Auria answered. "That symbol that you showed me at the bar last night? I think I've seen it before, but I just have to make sure that it is what I think it is before I raise any alarm."

Marcel looked at Auria in confusion, though he was concerned with the way that she was talking.

----

Abattoir Compound - Dungeon

Luke and Eliza were keeping a look out.

Tory was still siphoning the boundary spell, looking lightheaded from all the power that she was taking in.

Kaylin was kneeling next to Klaus on the outside of the boundary in her real body, while the spell cast by Freya and Tory allowed her to talk to Klaus in his mind next to him.

"Klaus, it's time," Kaylin told him. "You have to pull that blade out." Klaus dug furiously into his chest to get to the blade. "Tory's almost through, and we think that Kassandra is coming. Nik, you have to come on. We all will die if you don't."

Klaus groaned in pain as he dug into his own chest to get the blade. "I'm trying."

"Hey, you can do this," Kaylin told him. "I know you can. Your family needs you. I need you."

Klaus continued to dig into his chest to retrieve the blade, screaming in pain.

----

Abandoned House - Hallway

Marcel and Auria were searching.

"Adam?" Marcel called. "Adam?" They heard indistinct voices whispering all around them that reminded them of the Ancestors. "You in here?"

Wind started to blow through the hallway fiercely, blowing back Auria's hair. The door behind Auria slammed closed. Auria looked around, getting worried.

Marcel was suddenly thrown against the wall with unseen magic, falling to the floor, groaning in pain.

Auria looked at him worriedly. "Marcel?"

"I'm good," Marcel told her, standing.

Energy down the hallway appeared, starting to glow blue.

Auria raised her hands toward the light, casting a spell to keep it back. "Revele votre vrai soi. Revele votre vrai soi. Revele votre vrai soi."

The light soared toward Auria, causing her so much immense pain that she groaned a scream of pain.

Marcel ran toward her worriedly, but was kept back by the light. "Auria!" Auria grabbed her talisman from around her neck and the protection charm from her pocket to use both against the light, making it disappear. With the force of the light taken away from her, she fell to the floor on her knees, breathing heavily. Marcel walked toward Auria worriedly, kneeling next to her, helping her up. "What the hell was that?"

"That... is a very long story," Auria told him.

"Why did it let you go?" Marcel asked.

Auria showed him the magical talismans in answer. "Protection talisman... protection charm."

They slowly walked down the hallway.

"What are we fighting here, Auria?" Marcel asked.

Auria didn't answer, looking grim and worried, looking around. "Show yourself to me." They looked at the wall where the portal had come from, seeing the symbol of the Ouroboros magically carved into the wall before their eyes. Auria realized that this threat was real, in denial and horrified by what it meant. "Oh, no. No, no, no, no, no."

Marcel was worried by how worried Auria was, because she was never scared of something like this.

Lafayette Cemetery

Elijah, Hayley, Mikayla, Rebekah, Kol, Nicola and Kacie were still fighting the vampires that came for them, having rendered both of them dead or unconscious by now.

Vampire 4 tried to punch Hayley. Hayley caught his arm, twisting it until it broke, letting go of his arm to grab his head, biting him on the neck, letting him fall with the hybrid bite.

Mikayla kicked Vampire 5 in the head, making him fall to the ground, rushing closer to pick him up and throw him into a tomb, making him fall. Vampire 5 jumped up to punch Mikayla. Mikayla caught his arm, twisting it behind his back to break it, making him face away from her, biting him viciously on the neck, letting him fall to the ground with the hybrid bite.

Vampire 6 tried to punch Kacie. Kacie ducked. Vampire 6 tried to punch her again. Kacie caught his arm, kicking his leg, spinning closer to elbow him in the face, making him stumble back, punching him in the face, making him fall to his knees, biting into his neck, ripping his head off with her teeth.

Elijah ripped the heart out of Vampire 7, snapping the neck of Vampire 8, letting them both fall.

Vampire 9 tried to attack Kol. Kol tossed him aside, ripping the heart out of Vampire 10, elbowing Vampire 11 in the back, making him fall, kicking both Vampire 12 and 13, ripping out their hearts, killing them.

Rebekah grabbed Vampire 14, throwing him onto a spike on top of a mausoleum, looking slightly amused.

Nicola picked Vampire 11 up from the ground, pushing him against the tomb, stabbing him in the stomach with her sword, ripping into his throat, feeding, ripping his head off, letting him fall dead.

Freya used magic to snap three more vampires' necks, giving five more pain infliction spells so powerful that they fell unconscious instantly.

Nicola punched Vampire 15 in the face repeatedly, having him bleeding and beaten, transforming hungrily, feeding long after she had drained him of blood.

"Nicola, I think you got him," Kol told her sarcastically.

Elijah walked closer to Nicola, as everyone else had been dealt with.

Nicola managed to pull away from the vampire without ripping his head off, though it took everything she had to do so. She turned toward the rest of them, looking a little out of control, but not nearly as much as the night before when she had lost complete control.

Elijah gently held Nicola's arms to calm her down, having her close within inches. "Control yourself."

"That's very hard to do when my life support is in the middle of saving the world," Nicola told him.

"You can do this yourself," Elijah told her.

"I can't," Nicola told him.

Elijah nodded. "Yes, you can. Listen to your heart."

Nicola was breathing heavily in attempt to calm down, obviously feeling everything she had felt in the last few years, whispering barely. "I don't have a heart."

"You do," Elijah told her. "One of the best I've ever known. One that is always racing when you lose control like this. Don't you hear it?" Nicola listened to the sound of her pounding heart. "Maybe controlling your heart means controlling your instincts. Focus on slowing it down."

Nicola closed her eyes, trying to do as told, but was too overwhelmed, breathing heavily. "How do I do that?"

"Listen to the sound of my voice," Elijah answered. "Let it be your anchor to bring you to yourself again. Slower heartbeat. Deeper breathing. Calm thinking." The calm, cool, comforting sound of his voice slowly allowed Nicola to calm down and slow her heartbeat, breathing easier and more deeply, regaining control, calming down. She opened her eyes to look at Elijah, meeting his gaze, nodding. Elijah nodded, proud and reassured. "Good."

Nicola took a few quiet, deep breaths, sighing in relief. "Thank you."

Elijah relaxed himself, nodding in return. Nicola managed a small chuckle of relief. They looked at each other intensely for a moment that seemed endless but less than a second at the same time, breathing deeply, still calming down.

Rebekah looked at Nicola in sympathy and concern. "We have to get back to the compound. Eliza, Luke, Tory and Kaylin are there with Nik, and Kassandra headed back there now."

"If Tory's siphoned the boundary spell already, she'll be on a power boost and high, meaning she can buy them some time until we get there, but not for long, so we have to go now," Kacie told them.

"Yes, well, Kassandra successfully managed to keep us distracted until she could get a head start," Hayley told them.

"Let's get there, now," Mikayla told them.

They walked away.

Abattoir Compound - Dungeon

Tory had finished siphoning the spell, looking overwhelmed with magic.

Kaylin was able to cross through the broken boundary to Klaus.

Klaus had been able to pull the blade out of his chest, breathing heavily in agony.

Tory snapped her fingers to break the chains on Klaus, releasing him, though he still needed a few moments to heal and regain his strength.

Luke and Eliza heard something, looking up.

"Guys..." Luke trailed off.

"Go," Klaus told them. Kaylin looked at him worriedly. "I'll be up as soon as I can."

Courtyard

(Song:) Mad World - Unsecret feat. Remmi

Kassandra walked in.

Tory, Luke, Eliza and Kaylin walked toward her.

Kassandra stopped walking, smirking, wiggling her fingers at them in a wave, lowering her arm. "I knew you would be here. You should know, my family and the hex put me in a bit of a mood, so I'm sorry if this seems a little harsh." She rushed toward Luke, throwing him across the room into the wall, making him fall. She turned to Eliza. Tory raised her hands toward Kassandra, casting a major pain infliction spell that caused her to groan in agony, though she started to laugh at the pain. "Wow. You have really grown into yourself as a tribrid, haven't you, Tory? But that power is fueled by something else, isn't it?"

"A lot of it, yes, due to the fact that I just siphoned the boundary spell magic that kept your brother trapped, which gave me a magic boost," Tory answered. "Should make this easier."

Kassandra was angry to learn that they had gotten so far, rushing toward them. Eliza rushed to throw a table in the way of them, picking up a chair to hit Kassandra over the head with, making it shatter, but not to much success.

Kassandra smirked in amusement. "You knew that wasn't going to hurt me, Eliza."

"No, but I knew that it would slow you down at least a little," Eliza told her.

Kassandra pointed at Eliza curiously. "And this has been the first time since you've become a vampire, Miss Forbes. If I was still the same old girl, I would be making some teasing remark how here you are, finally here for my brother Kol, wishfully leading to you two finally becoming something more than just crushes."

"I'm not with Kol, Kassandra," Eliza told her.

Kassandra smirked. "Maybe not yet. You never know what'll happen, Eliza. Too bad for you and my brother that neither of you will make it that far."

Kassandra grabbed Eliza by the arm, breaking it, turning to where she had her back to her so that she could try and bite her on the neck. Tory cast a massive pain infliction spell on Kassandra that made her let go of Eliza, using magic to push Kassandra back away from Eliza. Luke and Kaylin stood next to them.

"We're not here to hurt you or anger you, Kassandra," Eliza told her. "We're trying to help you."

"I've heard enough of that," Kassandra told them, sounding more and more like what the hallucinations of Lucien had been telling her. "My family barely got away from me alive, and yet all of you have the audacity to come back. What happened? Immortality just got boring?"

Kassandra heard something behind her, turning around.

Elijah, Nicola, Kol, Rebekah, Freya, Hayley, Mikayla and Kacie walked in.

"Hello, sister," Elijah told her. "We've come for you and for Niklaus."

"Well, I've got something else for you," Kassandra told them, punching Elijah in the chest, kicking him in the chest, throwing him to the floor, turning to kick Kol in the chest, making him fall.

Freya and Tory exchanged a knowing look, casting a massive pain infliction spell on Kassandra that made her pause in fighting and hold her head in pain, though she was able to fight through the spell. Rebekah rushed closer. Kassandra punched Rebekah in the chest, throwing her up onto the balcony over the courtyard, making her fall. Kacie and Kaylin both punched Kassandra in the back, kicking her forward toward Hayley and Mikayla, who both spun around to kick and punch Kassandra from either side to try and weaken her. Kassandra easily gripped both Hayley and Mikayla by the throats, lifting them up, slamming them onto the stone ground of the courtyard, turning to throw both sisters into Kaylin and Kacie, making all four girls fall to the floor. Luke jumped up onto a table behind Kassandra to lunge toward her and tackle her to the floor. Both of them rolled over the ground, facing each other in crouching positions. Kassandra was getting more angry, glaring. Luke rushed closer to take her down again, but Kassandra rushed out of the way, turning to Luke and grabbing him by the back of the head, looking ready to rip his head off when Freya and Tory cast another bursting pain infliction spell that was stronger than before, making Kassandra stop and hold her head in pain. Kassandra slowly became infuriated, taking Luke by the jacket, turning to throw him toward Tory and Freya to make them stop and fall to the floor.

"We can help you, Kassandra, if you let us," Kol told her.

"Sister, please," Rebekah told her.

Kassandra laughed bitterly without humor. "Talking, talking, all this talking. I much prefer physical brutality." She looked around at all those who surrounded her. "There is only one more justice left for all of you." Kassandra  transformed, letting her eyes glow red and veins crawl down her face, letting out a roar of anger. Nicola shrugged slightly, kicking Kassandra in the chest, backhand punching her in the face, trying to punch her again. Kassandra ducked, punching Nicola in the face, kicking her in the stomach, flipping her to the floor, trying to stomp on her. Nicola rushed out of the way to stand next to Elijah before she could hit her, taking her sword out of the sheath on her back, throwing it into Kassandra's stomach, though it didn't do much. Kassandra laughed in amusement, taking the sword out of her stomach, tossing it down. "Well, there's the Huntress. Seems that only she and my siblings stand a fair fight, if you can even call it that."

"This ends today," Elijah told her. "You and Niklaus have suffered enough. You can stop this now."

"We'll see when the time comes," Kassandra told them, punching Elijah in the face, grabbing him, throwing him up onto the balcony next to Rebekah, making him fall, trying to punch Kol.

Kol ducked, spinning around Kassandra, kicking her in the back, trying to punch her. Kassandra caught his arm, breaking it, pushing him to his knees, about to bite him. Tory, Kaylin, Eliza, Mikayla, Hayley, Kacie and Nicola rushed closer to push Kassandra away. Kassandra easily discarded of the girls except for Nicola and Tory, using Tory to hit into Nicola, making her fall, gripping Tory by the throat in an attempt to bite her and kill her because she knew that Tory was their only shot to save her. Klaus, Marcel, Caitlin and Noah rushed into the room to pull Kassandra away from Tory before she could kill her.

Auria walked in, casting a powerful pain infliction spell on Kassandra that slowed her down.

Klaus, Elijah, Rebekah, Kol, Freya, Hayley, Mikayla, Kaylin, Nicola, Kacie, Tory, Eliza and Luke looked at Marcel, Noah, Caitlin and Auria in shock that they were here helping them, but relieved that they were.

"Noah, Caitlin, I thought we told you guys we had this handled," Luke told them.

"You clearly don't, Luke, so we decided not to listen to you and to call Marcel and Auria for backup," Noah told him.

"You can thank us later," Marcel told them.

Kassandra glared at everyone angrily, who all stood around her and ready to fight. Auria, Tory and Freya exchanged a look, nodding, casting a very heavy pain infliction spell on her, grabbing Kassandra on all sides of the head.

Tory started to siphon from her and chant the spell, telling Auria and Freya what to chant. "Apne en vrata. Apne en vrata. Apne en vrata."

Auria and Freya joined Tory in the chant so they could finish this. "Apne en vrata. Apne en vrata. Apne en vrata."

Lucien appeared as a hallucination next to Kassandra, kneeling next to her, begging her to break free. "Don't let them do this, Sandra. I'll be gone forever. You'll feel nothing but pain and agony for what was done to you and for what you did. Do you want to feel alone until the end of time?"

Auria, Tory and Freya cast a spell, making a sigil around Kassandra that trapped her where she was like the sigil that Freya had used to trap Lucien in 3.18 The Devil Comes Here and Sighs, causing Kassandra enough pain to make her fall to her knees like Lucien had done then, making it easier for them to continue the spell to siphon the hex away and to get her to turn her humanity back on.

Kassandra struggled greatly in pain through the agony that was brought on her by the sigil surrounding her and the spell that they were casting to take the hex away. "No! No!" Nicola, Elijah, Hayley, Kol, Rebekah, Mikayla, Klaus and Kaylin rushed closer to restrain Kassandra in the sigil so that she couldn't break free from the spells. Marcel, Noah, Caitlin, Kacie, Luke and Eliza helped restrain Kassandra, while Auria, Freya and Tory cast the spell. "Don't!"

Auria, Freya and Tory continued to cast the spell while Tory continued to siphon the hex and use her psychic powers to slowly turn Kassandra's humanity on so she wouldn't break from everything going around. "Apne en vrata. Apne en vrata. Apne en vrata."

With each passing moment, the hex was draining further away and her humanity was turning on more and more, leaving Kassandra to start to feel normal for the first time in a long time.

Lucien was starting to fade, though as the hex struggled to stay, so did he. "Kassandra, please."

Kassandra looked at Lucien, breathing heavily, no longer struggling with the others, absolutely exhausted and becoming devastated when they were finally able to finish the spell and free her from the hex and turn her humanity completely on. "Goodbye, Lucien."

Lucien faded out of her mind completely, his voice echoing as he faded away. "Farewell, Kassandra."

Everyone looked at Kassandra warily, not knowing what she would do or how should she would react, slowly letting her go, backing away out of the sigil that she was still trapped in.

Kassandra was slowly overcome with the complete realization of everything that had happened for the last half decade, becoming absolutely horrified and devastated, and with her humanity crushing her now that she had her emotions back, she couldn't stop herself from starting to cry, though she tried her best not to break down completely. "No. No, no, no. No! What did... what did I do?" Everyone was pained by this reaction, absolutely sympathetic and completely sad that she had to go through this, but knowing they had to do it to make sure that no one else died, and to bring her back to herself. "What have I done?" Kassandra was crying but trying not to break down in devastation, shaking her head, filled with self loathing and hatred, doing her best to not be crippled by it in front of everyone, barely able to speak above a whisper. "What did I do?"

Auria, Freya and Tory used their magic to power down the sigil that kept Kassandra trapped, knowing that they didn't need it anymore, making the sigil disappear.

Elijah, Kol, Rebekah, Klaus and Freya were absolutely devastated and filled with their own self-loathing at their part they played in their sister's pain, but when they tried to help her, Kassandra stood and backed away from them so she wouldn't be near them, or the others.

"Kassandra," Kol told her. "Listen to me, Sandra." Kassandra shook her head in self-loathing, breathing heavily. "Kassandra."

Caitlin knew of a way to get through to Kassandra because of the things that she had went through, walking up to her worriedly to calm her down. "I know what you're feeling now. You think that you can't handle what you've done. You think that you don't deserve forgiveness, even when everyone says that what happened is not your fault, even when they say that this was done to you, not done by you. You think that you don't deserve to have their support, their faith, even their love."

Nicola walked closer. "You think that you don't deserve to have them even look at you and know that they're gonna forgive you even when you don't want them to. You feel like you want to die, that that is what you deserve. That that is what you want. Some things that we have done, we don't deserve forgiveness for. But that doesn't just mean you or me. That means all of us. We all deserve to die, but it's up to us to keep living, even when all we want is for it to end."

Hayley knew that Nicola and Caitlin were talking about more than just Kassandra, walking closer, looking at and speaking to all of them. "You didn't do this. This isn't because of you. This didn't happen because of you. You have to believe that. You have to believe that you deserve to be forgiven, that you deserve to be happy, and that you deserve to be loved."

Mikayla looked at Kassandra, Nicola, Tory, Caitlin, Eliza and Kaylin. "If you give up now, and you can't move past this, that means that Rosalita, the Ancestors, Rayna, the Sirens, the Devil... that means they win. And you are all stubborn enough to not let them win. You're strong enough to keep fighting. You have to keep fighting. You have to live on."

Everyone was moved by everything that they had said.

Eliza, Tory, Nicola and Caitlin looked at Hayley and Mikayla gratefully, though they knew that some part of them still blamed themselves for everything. Kaylin nodded in agreement.

Kassandra was finally able to settle down after hearing all of this, coming back to herself, completely exhausted, overwhelmed and devastated.

Night - St. Anne's Church

After everything was over, Auria was in the church, doing a spell to cleanse herself, to settle her nerves, wafting a sage stick around her.

Marcel was sitting nearby, watching Auria worriedly.

Vincent walked toward them. "Auria. Marcel."

Auria sighed, putting the sage stick down.

Marcel stood. "Vincent. We saw something. We felt... something."

"I felt a presence, and I had to cleanse myself," Auria told him.

"Did you see him?" Vincent asked. "Did you find Adam?"

"We didn't, no," Auria answered. "But at least now I know without a doubt what we're up against. And it's something that I've seen before."

"What is it?" Marcel asked. "A witch, a spirit? Auria, what was that thing?"

Auria sighed heavily, still trying to sort through everything that she had to do. "Listen to me, Vincent. I'm gonna find Adam, I'm gonna bring him back, and you can take him home to Maxine. But whoever has him right now is using some very dark magic. Some very powerful magic, and you have to make sure that she stays away from it."

"All right, if you want to protect Maxine and have her stay away, then I'm gonna help you," Vincent told her. "You're not the Regent anymore, Auria, which means that you don't have the kind of power that you used to, and I heard after what went down with the Mikaelsons today, that they're all leaving."

"Yeah," Marcel answered. "Even Kassandra. She can't be around this city after everything that happened in it with Lucien and the Ancestors. Honestly, I can't blame her. Luckily, they're all leaving, so at least we'll get some peace and quiet around here."

"Not likely," Auria told him. Marcel and Vincent looked at her in confusion. "If I'm right about this, then we might need a lot more help. But if they need some time after everything that happened, let's give it to them."

Marcel nodded in agreement, though he still looked worried about what had happened today that got under Auria's skin so much.

Noah/Caitlin's Loft - Living Room

(Song:) Take Me Home - Jess Glynne

Noah and Caitlin had returned home and gotten food and wine and blood to dine the night away after the busy day.

"I think this night is long awaited," Noah told her. "We finally finished the job, Caitlin. Actually helped the Mikaelsons and co. get Kassandra under control even after everything that went down."

"Well, helping them with Kassandra saved more than just them, Noah," Caitlin told him. "It saved all of us. Both of us, Marcel, Auria, this city. It took all of us to get it done, but we finally did it."

"Yep," Noah agreed. "And I'm impressed. We all made it out alive. And normally, people who go up against odds like today end up dead."

"Well, we're not most people," Caitlin told him. "None of us."

"No, we most certainly are not," Noah told her. He put down their wine glasses. "The only thing that is on my mind is how we're gonna celebrate."

Caitlin smiled. "I'm sure we can figure out something."

Caitlin slid closer to straddle Noah's lap, starting to kiss him passionately and deeply but sweetly at the same time. Noah pulled her closer into a kiss. They pulled away after a moment, looking at each other, both of them content and happy for what seemed like a while. Noah brushed her hair out of her face while they continued to look at each other, finally kissing once again, heatedly and with more passion than before.

----

St. Anne's Church

Auria was still in the church with candles lit all around the sanctuary, opening a closet in the back of the room, sitting on the floor.

Marcel was standing nearby, taking out his phone, dialing Noah's phone number, putting it on the floor on speaker so that they could both hear.

Auria sighed, taking a knife, cutting her hand, dripping her blood onto a safe in the closet floorboards, using her blood and magic to unlock the spelled closed safe. "Deblotche par mon sang."

Noah: (voicemail) "Hey, it's Noah. Leave a message."

Marcel sighed heavily. "Noah, it's me and Auria. You're gonna want to call me back. Auria and I saw something today, and it's something that Auria's seen before."

Auria pulled book with the Ouroboros symbol out of the safe, picking up the phone, speaking into it. "Noah, I tell you, this city... everyone in it is in danger." She looked at Marcel in regret. "And it might just be all my fault. My family's."

Marcel was still confused about all of this, though he knew that Auria would tell him everything.

Auria hung up, sighing, looking at the book with the symbol on it, knowing that this was not going to be good.

Farmhouse - Guest Bedroom

Kassandra was sleeping in the bed, clearly exhausted and overwhelmed with everything enough to fall asleep the first chance she got to escape the pain.

Freya was in the hallway, seeing that Kassandra was sleeping with the light still on, looking at her in pain and regret, turning the light off, closing the door to let her get some rest.

----

Outside

Kol was leaning against a car, looking down, drinking bourbon.

Eliza was unpacking her things from the car to head her separate way, seeing Kol, walking closer. "How is she?"

Kol looked at her. "Kassandra?" Eliza nodded. Kol sighed. "Devastated at what's happened, angry at herself and filled with self-loathing. She drank and I'm pretty sure cried herself to sleep, though she refused to make a sound, so I can't be sure about the crying part. At least she can shift the blame, not just from us but from herself, too. She can shift it to Rosalita."

Eliza sighed. "I know you're still thinking about Rosalita's part in all of this. And I'm sorry, Kol. I was controlled by someone like you were controlled by Rosalita once. She was a Siren, named Sybil. She took me, Tory, and Liv Gilbert captive from the vault in the Armory when we were trying to find a way to save Nicola. She made us kill hundreds of evil people, and made us turn good people into bad people and kill them, too. We were controlled for three months, and I was so far under her control and I felt so much guilt that I turned my humanity off and I tried to kill my sister Caroline. Even after they saved me, and got my humanity back, I hated the thing that Sybil turned me into. I hated everything. And I mean everything. Even the... sun. You know, it just kept coming up every morning like it was any other day and the world hadn't completely changed. Like you hadn't. I was this sweet naive human little girl, and then I turned into a monster that wanted to burn Sybil alive for what she did to me and my friends, even after I got my humanity back. I still wanted to kill her when I got back. I don't know if I'll ever feel normal again."

Kol was surprised to hear all of this, confused and intrigued. "Eliza, why are you telling me all of this?"

"Because now I know how you felt when you wanted to kill Rosalita for what she did to you and your family, because Sybil did that to me," Eliza answered. "And Rosalita almost killed us all, too. Being controlled by a Siren made me realize that I am no better than you or your family, Kol. None of us are. We all have that darkness inside. And sometimes I miss the times when I didn't have to feel all of the guilt and sadness and self-loathing that I feel when I think about what someone else turned me into."

Kol was stunned into silence by this response for a moment, sighing, nodding. "It does get better, Eliza. After a while, you start to feel like yourself again."

Eliza smiled a small smile, nodding. "Yeah. That's what I keep hearing. But I'm not that girl anymore. This is who I am now."

Kol held his bottle of bourbon toward her. Eliza took it, taking a drink.

"For the record, I like this new you just fine," Kol told her. "Not everyone would have helped my family with Kassandra. Especially not the same girl that killed my mother with a crossbow once while she was still human to save us all in Mystic Falls."

Eliza couldn't help but smile and chuckle at that, taking a drink.

Kol smirked slightly in amusement.

Elsewhere

Kacie was packing up her car to get ready to go.

Mikayla walked closer. "Am I to assume that you guys are heading back to Mystic Falls?"

"Not tonight," Kacie answered. "We're all too tired to make the drive all the way back to Virginia." Mikayla nodded in understanding. "So, we'll hit up a hotel in town and see what we can do after that. Besides, Tory's not really ready to say goodbye to the two distant cousins she has in Kaylin and Nicola that she's gotten the chance to get closer to over the last few years, and teaching Rae, another distant cousin. Plus, Tory still needs to help Nicola control her Huntress side, and until she learns how to control it on her own, we'll be sticking around. And she is still sired to Hope, so whenever she needs something, we'll know, and we'll be there. Looks like you haven't gotten rid of me yet, Mikayla."

Mikayla smiled. "I'm glad. I know that you guys didn't always get along with the Mikaelsons, Kacie, and I know about what Rosalita made all of you into, what happened to your mother, to Ryan before he came back. So I'm just so grateful that you, Luke, Tory and Eliza helped us for this long with everything. And that Lindsey and Ryan were even helping from back in Mystic Falls."

"Luke and I are mainly here for Tory, because she's my sister, and Luke's her boyfriend who is madly in love with her," Kacie told her. "And I also did this for Kaylin and Nicola. Kaylin protected me and helped me when I triggered my curse, and Nicola was Tory's and my brother's ex-girlfriend before Sybil made her kill Tyler. I want her to know that it wasn't her fault, and that we both forgive her. We want to know peace, just as much as you do, Mikayla. Maybe we can finally get it."

Mikayla nodded in agreement, smiling a small smile. "Either way, thank you, Kacie. For everything."

Kacie smiled. "You're welcome."

Elsewhere

Elijah, Rebekah and Klaus were standing together.

"What is it?" Elijah asked.

"Five years never felt so long," Klaus told them. "Thank you, for not abandoning me and Kassandra."

Rebekah tilted her head. "Well, we did consider it. The vote was rather close."

Klaus smiled.

Rebekah kissed Klaus on the cheek, walking inside.

(Song:) Carry On - Norah Jones

Elijah looked toward the porch where Nicola was sitting, walking toward her. "Remind me, if I'm ever going to make you angry, make sure there isn't a sword lying around."

Nicola chuckled, smiling a small smile. "Just glad that I could help."

Elijah looked at her curiously in concern. "Both you and Caitlin told Kassandra earlier that you knew how she felt because you had felt the same way."

Nicola avoided his gaze, looking slightly embarrassed and ashamed. "I just told her what she needed to hear."

Elijah shook his head, walking closer. "Mikayla told me what happened while you were controlled by the Sirens and the Devil. And Kaylin told me of a few more things."

Nicola was slightly annoyed, standing. "Yeah, well, Kaylin gossips too much."

Elijah gave her a subtle look. "Nicola."

Nicola sighed, turning to face him completely. "What do you want me to say, Elijah? Did I want to die after I turned into the Huntress after a psycho Siren killed my sister, and made me kill my ex-boyfriend, and nearly made me kill all of my friends and family? Yes, I did. But it doesn't matter now. The marks that I gave them all, they link them to me. That means if I die, so do they. So you don't have to worry about me. I'm not going to do anything stupid, like try to kill myself or get myself killed."

"I would wish not," Elijah told her softly in sympathy, concerned for her emotions and mind state.

Nicola sighed heavily, relieved by letting all of this out. "Just don't worry about me, okay? I used to want it all to end, but that was before Tory was able to help me with control. But I want to learn how to control myself, and not with her help."

Elijah nodded in understanding. "If you let me, I can help you learn control and find a way to be happy again. I once believed that happiness was something denied me as well. You don't deserve this guilt to live with, this self-hatred."

"Don't I?" Nicola asked.

Elijah shook his head, walking closer. "With help from each other, maybe we can get what we seek. Happiness, redemption, forgiveness. Together."

Nicola took all of this in for a long moment, relieved and content, able to be happy, nodding. Nicola and Elijah looked at each other for a moment, smiling small smiles, kissing slowly and sweetly for a long moment, pulling away.

Nicola smiled sadly. "Don't worry about me. Worry about Kassandra, who just got free of her hex and who nearly fell apart."

"You're one of the main reasons she didn't," Elijah told her. "You got through to her when no one else could. With the help of Caitlin, Hayley and Mikayla."

Nicola sighed, understanding and sympathetic. "Yeah, well, I know what she's going through. I knew what to say to get through to her. Caitlin did, too. Hayley and Mikayla reassured us that we deserve so much more than this."

"You also helped us save Kassandra, along with everyone," Elijah told her. "Like you promised me five years ago we would. Thank you."

Nicola nodded, looking at him sadly in sympathy. "Forgiving you is one thing, Elijah. She'll forgive your family in time. But I don't think she'll ever forgive herself. I don't know if she'll ever trust herself again."

Elijah was hurt by this, but knowing that it was true, as if he had already thought this before Nicola told him.

Elsewhere

Kaylin walked up next to Klaus, standing with him as they watched Nicola and Elijah walk inside. She looked at Klaus. "You okay?"

"You mean the imprisonment, torture, forced isolation, and the shocking revelations of your adventures with Nicola, Rae, your family and your friends for the past two years?" Klaus asked.

Kaylin chuckled. "Yeah, it's been a hell of a ride. For what it's worth, I'm sorry. I can't imagine what you've been through."

"Considering your niece was forced to awaken as the Huntress against her will and nearly killed you and everyone you love, and the Devil brought your daughter Rae back to life in the most agonizing way possible to force you to work for him like he forced your niece and your brothers to do the same, I'm sure you can," Klaus told her. "I had moments of solace to sustain me. It's because of them I'm here now."

Kaylin turned to Klaus completely. "I have waited far too long for a night of peace, and way too long for this." Klaus knew what she meant, smiling a small smile. Kaylin pulled him closer to kiss him sweetly and passionately for a long moment. Klaus returned the kiss in kind, deepening the kiss longingly in relief and content happiness. It felt like it was just the two of them finally being able to stop hurting after all this time. They pulled away after a moment, feeling like they could actually breathe again. Kaylin smirked, pushing him in the chest. "But don't compel me again."

Klaus chuckled. "I'll be willing to make a compromise if you weren't so willing to sacrifice yourself for damaged creatures such as yourself."

"Well, being that I got my daughter back, I have to be more careful now, don't I?" Kaylin replied. They both smiled. Kaylin started to walk up the steps, turning to face Klaus, holding her hand toward him. "Five years ago, when I told you about losing Rae, you introduced me to Hope. Are you ready to meet my little girl, and are you ready to see yours?" Klaus looked nervous but excited. Kaylin smiled at his reaction, nodding to the house. "Come on."

Klaus took Kaylin's offered hand so she could lead him to the house.

Inside - Hope and Rae's Joined Room

Kaylin led Klaus into two joined rooms to see Hope and Rae sleeping on two beds in their pajamas. She looked at them, content and happy for the first time in years. Klaus was in shock to see them, relaxing for the first time in half a decade, completely at ease, content and happy too.

Hayley was sitting next to Hope happily now that they had the family reunited, looking at them. "You want me to wake them for you?"

"No," Klaus answered. "Let's let them sleep." Kaylin smiled a small smile. "I am happy for you, Kaylin. About Rae. I wish you know that."

Kaylin looked at Klaus, smiling softly, nodding. "I know."

They continued to watch Hope and Rae sleep, smiling happily.
