chapter 10 - Phantomesque

Outfits in the external link

From 4.07 "High Water and a Devil's Daughter", in the alley, The Hollow reached out to grab Caitlin by the head, slowly entering her body to possess her, but not before a birthmark like Mikayla, Hayley and Hope's was seen on her shoulder through the black smoke and blue light. Caitlin slumped forward when the Hollow took possession of her. She looked around curiously, tilting her head. She let her eyes glow blue, smirking slightly, letting the blue glow fade from her eyes.

Nicola: (voice over) "Previously on Worlds Colliding (The Originals)"

From 4.08 "Voodoo In My Blood", in the church, Hayley, Mikayla, Marcel and Auria woke up in the salt circles on the floor, separated from Klaus. Davina was able to be seen while she was inside the salt circles.

"We only need Auria and the wolves," Davina told them. "It all comes down to the bloodlines. That's the only thing that worked against her."

From 4.09 "Queen Death", in the bayou woods, the wolves were now human, getting dressed.

There was a shot of Riley.

Marcel: (voice over from 4.08 Voodoo In My Blood) "The Del Robles."

There was a shot of Hayley and Mikayla.

Marcel: (voice over from 4.08 Voodoo In My Blood) "Labonairs."

There was a shot of Kacie and Tory.

Marcel: (voice over from 4.08 Voodoo In My Blood) "Apisi."

There was a shot of Ryan and Luke.

Marcel: (voice over from 4.08 Voodoo In My Blood) "Basroq."

From 4.08 "Voodoo In My Blood", in the church, Hayley, Mikayla, Marcel and Auria woke up in the salt circles on the floor, separated from Klaus. Davina was able to be seen while she was inside the salt circles.

"Auria, your bloodlines are what created her power, so you can either take it away or give her more power, which is why she wants to twist you to her will like the others to get more power, or to kill you so you can't take her power," Davina told her.

"How do I do that?" Auria asked.

"The journal," Davina answered.

From 4.09 "Queen Death", in Marcel's apartment, Marcel and Auria were talking.

"I know that Davina said that your bloodlines can take the Hollow's power away, and the answer on to how is in that book," Marcel told her. He  walked closer, concerned and worried. "This thing, it's got to you more than once before, and now you want to read the journal that this thing made your father write? Are you sure it's not gonna try to change you like it changed your parents?"

"Honestly?" Auria asked. "No, I'm not. But I have you."

From 4.08 "Voodoo In My Blood", outside the compound, Caitlin/The Hollow appeared behind Elijah, stabbing him in the back with the poisoned rosebush, making it protrude through his chest, making him scream in agony and arch back a bit.

From 4.09 "Queen Death", in the abandoned house, Elijah was trapped in a boundary spelled salt circle, writhing in pain with the cursed weapon in his back.

Caitlin/The Hollow stood with him. "When you die, so too does your entire sireline. Why do you think I chose you to kill?"

Elijah glared at her weakly in anger. "To break Kassandra's mind even more than it has been before to make her into a weapon all over again, and to make Nicola lose control so she couldn't fight you."

Auria: (voice over from 4.09 Queen Death) "The Hollow has Elijah."

From 4.09 "Queen Death", in Noah/Caitlin's apartment, Noah and Marcel were sitting on one couch. Tory, Luke and Kacie sat across from them. Riley, Lindsey and Ryan were standing.

"I have a plan," Riley told them. "We find this thing and its acolytes, we slaughter all of them. And then stack their bodies into a monument dedicated to those who still stand with the Hollow willingly."

Noah nodded skeptically and sarcastically. "One of those bodies would be Caitlin and I want her alive."

From 4.09 "Queen Death", in the bayou woods, Wolf!Ryan and Wolf!Luke both jumped toward them to bite Caitlin/The Hollow on either of her arms. Wolf!Kacie and Wolf!Mikayla tugged at her legs by their teeth, while Wolf!Riley and Wolf!Hayley rammed and bit into her back to pull her to the ground. Tory was close to finishing her transformation, letting out a scream of psychic energy that caused everyone in the clearing, including Caitlin/The Hollow and the wolves, so much pain that everyone fell to the ground. Noah rushed up behind where Caitlin/The Hollow was starting to get up, holding her in a chokehold from behind, so that Kassandra could sit up, take the sword from the ground kneel in front of Caitlin/The Hollow, and drive it into Caitlin's heart, making her gasp and wheeze as blue light and black smoke started to leave her body. Tory crawled closer weakly while still transforming to siphon the magic out of Caitlin/The Hollow while they continued to hold her restrained and weakened and with Nicola's blood still in her heart, making more of the Hollow's essence leave her body, making her wheeze and gasp in agony, while also siphoning the magic out of the wolf venom in her wounds to heal Caitlin's body slowly.

Noah: (voice over from 4.08 Voodoo In My Blood) "Promise me you'll try to save her, too."

From 4.09 "Queen Death", in Noah/Caitlin's bedroom, Noah slowly and carefully laid Caitlin on the bed, caringly and lovingly, looking at her sadly and worriedly, wishing for the best and that she would be okay, brushing back her hair out of her face. "Come on, Cait. Wake up."

From 4.09 "Queen Death", in the compound,  Kassandra, Klaus, Freya, Hayley, Mikayla, Kaylin and Nicola were talking about the other part of their plan for that night concerning Elijah.

Freya was holding the pendant. "If Elijah is going to die one way or another, then I can try placing his soul inside the pendant."

"Try?" Hayley repeated. "What do you mean, try?"

"There's a chance he won't survive the process," Freya told them.

From 4.09 "Queen Death", in the abandoned house, Klaus, Freya, Nicola, Kaylin, Kassandra, Hayley and Mikayla walked up to the boundary spell but couldn't get inside. Freya continued her spell to pull Elijah's soul into the talisman to save him; as she did, the pendant glowed blue, while Elijah writhed in pain as his soul was being torn out of his body while the Hollow was killing him. Elijah slowly died in front of them, his skin desiccating as he drifted off into death. The Hollow started to glow brighter and stronger than before, with such strength that she threw Klaus, Freya, Kaylin, Kassandra, Hayley and Mikayla to the ground with magic, but not Nicola, disappearing. Nicola knelt next to Elijah, pulling the weapon out of his back. Freya, Klaus and Kassandra stood, running closer to kneel next to Elijah's body in denial. Kaylin, Hayley and Mikayla stood, walking toward them.

"Where's the pendant?" Kaylin asked.

Freya held out her bloodstained hand to show them that the pendant was in pieces, broken from the fall when the Hollow had magically thrown them to the floor.

From 4.09 "Queen Death", in the bayou woods, Inadu, in flesh and blood, pulled herself out of the tree, completely naked, covered in what seemed to be goo or slime.

Auria: (voice over from 4.09 Queen Death) "The spirit that's been haunting this city has gained the power that it needs to be reborn in the flesh."

From 4.09 "Queen Death", in Elijah's study, Kassandra, Klaus, Freya, Hayley, Mikayla, Hope, Kaylin, Nicola and Rae were all gathered around the pendant. Rae lightly put a finger on the broken pieces of the pendant, psychically seeing into the pendant and Elijah's mind like a vision from the pendant to Rae, who passed it on to Hope, who passed it on to Freya.

Hayley: (voice over from 4.09 Queen Death) "He's in there. You heard him, right?"

Rae nodded. "He's somewhere inside... screaming."

Same Night - Day One

French Riveria

Night - Club

(Song:) Carry the Son - The Glitch Mob

The nightclub was full of vampires dancing, drinking and feeding the night away.

Eliza was in the crowd, walking through the partiers toward the bar to talk to a vampire next to a briefcase, drinking.

Rebekah was in the crowd, looking around. She smirked, pulling a man onto the dancefloor with her by his scarf, starting to dance with him. "Your club is full of Strix members, and you know why we've come here. Me, my brother Kol, and my friend Eliza Forbes are looking for items, both magical and medical, to help my sister and our other friend. Kassandra Mikaelson and Nicola Salvatore."

"Yeah, and I know which ones you're talking about," the vampire told her. "Sorry, but we have no love for your sister or the Huntress, which is why we're saying 'no' to what you're asking for. And you can't compel me or anyone else here because we're all on vervain."

"Compulsion is not the only trick I have to change minds, love," Rebekah told him, leaning closer to whisper against his lips. "What do I have to do to change yours?"

Rebekah kissed him.

----

Elsewhere

Eliza was sitting at the bar, drinking blood and alcohol from a glass, speaking to another member of the Strix. "I know you're not a fan of the Mikaelsons or the Huntress, but if you just give us what we need, then we'll be on our way, and you'll never have to see us again. Come on. You've called Noah Dumaine and Caitlin Harris. From what I hear, they still run your little organization, at least in the United States." She took a drink smugly in amusement, pointing at the vampire. "Noah Dumaine told you to give us what we need. And, yes, you can disobey him, but please take into account that we will get what we want to help who we care about one way or another. I don't want to fight, but I will if I have to, and you know that Kol and Rebekah Mikaelson have no problem with fighting to get what they want."

Eliza took a drink, reaching past the vampire toward a briefcase on the bar.

The vampire rushed to grab Eliza's arm before she could take it, breaking her arm in three places, making her groan in pain and annoyance. "The Mikaelsons are not the only ones who are unafraid of fighting."

More vampires stalked toward them to hurt Eliza and stop her from taking the briefcase. Kol rushed up behind them, snapping three of their necks and ripping two of their hearts out before they could make a move, letting the hearts in either hand fall to the floor next to their bodies.

Eliza rushed to stab a knife into the vampire's hand to make him let her go, smashing her glass of blood and alcohol against his head, making it shatter and blood stain his skin, giving him an annoyed look. "That was cute."

Eliza snapped the vampire's neck, letting him fall.

More vampires walked closer to fight with Rebekah, Kol and Eliza, who exchanged a smug look.

Vampire 2 tried to punch Rebekah. Rebekah caught his hand, elbowing him in the face, ripping his heart out.

Kol took Vampire 3 by his shirt, lifting him up, pushing him onto his back on the floor, bashing his head against it.

Eliza spun back to lean against the bar, kicking two vampires with both legs. Vampire 4 tried to punch her. Eliza ducked, catching his wrist from above her head, spinning around at vampire speed to flip him to the floor. The way he landed on his head on the floor snapped his neck.

Vampire 5 was about to attack Eliza when he suddenly stopped, groaning in pain, holding his chest, starting to desiccate, falling to the floor, dead.

(Song Ends)

The music stopped, everyone looking at the vampire in shock.

Another male vampire started to desiccate, falling dead, and another, and another, and another. All of the Strix vampires started to die around them.

The other patrons started to scream and flee, running out of the club.

Three more vampires fell dead, desiccating. One of them was a woman, falling into Kol's arms. Kol dropped her body, walking toward Rebekah and Eliza in absolute confusion. They were the last three in the club. Kol knelt next to the dead body of Rebekah's dance partner to see what had caused the deaths.

"I haven't seen vampires die like this since... Rosalita got Finn killed, and we had to watch Sage and Troy die in Mystic Falls," Eliza told them.

"And his entire sireline died with him," Kol told them, standing. "Like mine did with me, and Kassandra's did with her."

"Elijah," Rebekah realized.

Eliza, Kol and Rebekah looked over the dead bodies, horrified about what this meant for Elijah.

Day Two

New Orleans, Louisiana

Morning - Abattoir Compound - Ballroom

Freya was setting up for a spell. Hayley, Mikayla, Kaylin and Nicola watching her.

"Eliza, Rebekah and Kol have just landed," Kaylin told them. "Klaus is trying to keep Kassandra calm until we return Elijah to life. All things considering, the Forbes and Mikaelsons are being mostly calm. But... All Kassandra wants to do is rip the Hollow and everything related to the Hollow to shreds."

"Can't say that I blame her, because I've been thinking the same thing," Nicola told them. "And before you ask, Kaylin, yes, that was my darker half talking. She is currently having a firmer hold now that my anchor is dead."

"But we can bring him back, so you don't have to lose control, and so that Kassandra doesn't lash out or lose her mind," Hayley told her. "Right, Freya?"

"I can't resurrect Elijah until I'm certain his mind is whole," Freya told them.

"What's the problem?" Mikayla asked.

"When that pendant was shattered, Elijah's mind shattered with it," Freya explained. "He's most likely retreated to the innermost core of his consciousness."

"How do we find him?" Hayley asked.

"I don't know," Freya told them. "He could be anywhere in a thousand years of memories. But if I try fixing the pendant before finding him and healing his, he'll be permanently fractured. Like casting a broken bone before it's been properly set. I need to go inside and find him. Once I'm sure his mind is stable, then I can fix the pendant."

"So you're saying Elijah is locked in his own, broken, violent psyche, and he needs help to be free and in control?" Mikayla asked.

"And has a place in his mind for his deepest, darkest demons so they don't consume him," Hayley added.

Kaylin nodded to Nicola. "Does that sound familiar to anyone?"

Nicola sighed, nodding in agreement, looking at Freya. "Please tell me you can do this."

"He's my brother," Freya told them. "I'm not going to stop until he's safe."

Noah/Caitlin's Apartment - Living Room

Caitlin was laying weakly on the couch, barely conscious, turning her head. "Noah?"

Noah walked closer to help Caitlin drink some blood. "Shh. It's okay."

Marcel and Auria were also here to check on Caitlin.

Caitlin looked at them in relief. "Marcel. Auria."

Auria smiled. "Hey, Caitlin."

"Hey, C," Marcel told her gently. "Guess who's here."

Tory, Luke, Ryan and Lindsey walked in.

Caitlin looked at them weakly. "Hey. Tory and Luke. And I remember Lindsey, Ryan, Emma and Danny Davis-Thompson from when the Hollow possessed me and made me attack you guys."

"It wasn't your fault," Ryan told her.

"Hey, Caitlin," Lindsey told her. "How you feeling?"

"Like I'm dying," Caitlin answered. "I am, aren't I?"

"Well, we have some good news/bad news," Luke explained. "Bad news is, yes, you are dying from an infection from being consumed by the Hollow." Ryan and Lindsey gave him a look. Tory just sighed. The three of them were used to Luke being blunt without thinking. "Good news is, Auria, Tory and Lindsey have a way to cure you and make a weapon to use against the Hollow."

"There's this part of my dad's journal that looks different from the rest," Auria explained. "Like instead of channeling the Hollow, my dad was channeling our ancestors to write this part. Not the Ancestors, but just Rayvnnes and Malchances. Like they were trying to reach him to tell him to write this down so we could figure out a way to take the Hollow down."

"Great," Caitlin told them. "What'd it say?"

"It says that the blood of the Hollow or something created by her can be used against her, too," Lindsey answered. "If we can get her blood and lace one of her creations with it, we can use it against her."

Luke nodded. "Awesome. Can it kill her?"

"It'll hurt her," Ryan answered. "We're not sure that it'll kill her. But it'll help us find a way to take her power so that we can kill her."

Caitlin scoffed softly, shaking her head. "1500 year old newly resurrected super powerful witch, and we just need to get her blood and a product of her creation so that we can use it against her so you can take her power so that we can kill her, and so that you can cure me. That's all. There's got to be another option."

"There's not, Caitlin," Ryan told her. "We have to do this, or we're all dead."

"Okay, but given that the Hollow is pure evil incarnate, maybe you should consider reaching out to people who have experience in fighting pure evil incarnates," Caitlin told them. "Like... like Mikaelson people. I might not be happy with them right now, but I know that we need all the help we can get."

"Lindsey and I came up with a plan for Auria to work with us more than the Mikaelsons, because they make her angry, and with the Hollow's influence over her right now, if she gets angry, it'll make it easier for the Hollow to control her," Tory explained.

Marcel looked at Auria. "Right. I get it. I'm all for you doing all you can to stay in control of yourself, so that the Hollow doesn't take you over, even if it means avoiding the Mikaelsons."

"Eliza Forbes, Kacie Lockwood and Riley Grey are gonna be working with the Salvvatores, Mikaelsons, Hayley and Mikayla Labonair on destroying the thorns so nothing like what happened with Elijah happens again," Ryan explained.

"But we need at least one of those weapons to create the weapon we can use against the Hollow, since it was created by her and Kassandra's blood," Lindsey went on.

"And we've got to track down the Hollow so we can get her blood for the weapon and so we can cure Caitlin," Luke finished.

"Keep in mind that I might have to go help the Mikaelsons reach Elijah inside the pendant, too," Tory told them.

"Are you guys always this busy?" Caitlin asked.

"Girl, you have no idea," Lindsey told her.

Noah chuckled. "You guys need my help with anything?"

"No," Auria answered. "You stay here with Caitlin, Noah, make sure she stays awake so she doesn't slip back into the coma-like sleep. We'll call if we need anything."

Noah nodded.

Marcel looked at Auria, Tory, Luke, Lindsey and Ryan. "And I'll help you with anything you need, including tracking down the Hollow and getting her blood and a product of her creation so we can make the weapon and cure Caitlin."

"Good luck," Caitlin told them.

"Yeah, you're gonna need it," Noah told them.

Marcel, Auria, Tory, Luke, Lindsey and Ryan nodded, walking out, leaving Noah and Caitlin alone in the apartment.

The French Quarter

Many people were going through flowers and walking along together.

Inadu walked past the flowers, making them wilt, wither and die as she passed. As she walked, she looked completely void of emotion, completely expressionless.

----

Abattoir Compound - Coffin Room

Kassandra was standing at the doorway, looking toward Elijah's coffin. "I never told you, but over the countless years, you've meant so much to me. You have been a redeemer, a confidante, a mentor, and a rival." She turned to look at Elijah's desiccated body in the coffin. "And a friend. And at times, yes, you've been a royal pain in the ass, but now look at you. And I'm so sorry, my brother." She walked toward Elijah in his coffin. "This will not be your end. I will not rest until I bring you back. No matter how many I have to kill to ensure it."

Klaus walked in from behind Kassandra. "Sounds like fun." Kassandra turned to face Klaus. "I could do with a bit of murder and mayhem. So would a few others. Sister, come with me, please."

----

Courtyard

Kaylin, Hayley, Riley, Mikayla and Kacie were sitting around a table with a map that had drops of Kassandra's blood on it so Freya could have located the remaining of the cursed thorns.

Klaus led Kassandra inside.

Eliza, Kol and Rebekah walked toward them with three briefcases.

"You two can use a bit of murder and mayhem?" Rebekah asked. "Well, so could we."

Kassandra looked at her siblings in relief, walking closer instantly. "Rebekah. Kol."

"Kassandra," Kol replied.

Rebekah and Kassandra embraced.

"Maybe you should have stayed where you were," Kacie told them.

"We only left to gather what we needed to help Kassandra and Nicola," Rebekah told them. She and Kassandra pulled away. "Now it's Elijah who needs help."

Kassandra and Kol embraced.

Kol sighed. "All right, chitchat's over. Can we slaughter someone now?"

They pulled away.

"I, for one, don't usually like to take part in the bloodbath, but even I know violence at this point is inevitable," Eliza told them. "And, since this thing has been terrorizing every one of you, I would like to help." Klaus and Kol smirked, impressed by this new Eliza. Kaylin smiled, tilting her head. Eliza put her briefcase down on the table, along with Kol and Rebekah's briefcases. "But first things first, we did get everything that we need to help Kassandra and Nicola, and all that's left needed is for your friend Keelin to make all of this into something that can work on both of you, like she did for herself to suppress her werewolf traits."

"I hope you all know that Nicola and I need our strength to fight our enemies," Kassandra told them.

"Yes, but most of this will help mend your mind and Nicola's mind so that she will finally be able to control the Huntress inside her without difficulty or help," Kol explained. "You will get to keep your strength, Kassandra. You two still get to be the strongest out of the Salvatores and Mikaelsons, and out of all of us, period."

"Wow," Kaylin told them. "You guys were thorough."

"I think you mean brilliant, Kaylin," Kol told her.

Eliza smiled.

Kaylin sighed. "All right, so, all Freya has to do to mend Elijah's mind while in the stone is find where he is in his mind and bring him into the light. Nikki and Kassandra are a different story completely, what, with one having a psychotic alter ego hell bent on killing everything in sight, and the other dealing with post-trauma of having a hex on her mind for five years, altering the very chemistry of her brain. All we have to do is alter them back."

"Oh, is that all?" Riley asked sarcastically.

Kacie smiled, walking toward Eliza. "Come here, Eliza."

Kacie and Eliza embraced, pulling away.

Eliza smirked. "Missed you too, Kacie."

"Where are Hope and Rae?" Rebekah asked.

"Upstairs, playing with Emma and Danny, since Lindsey, Ryan, Tory and Luke are helping Marcel Gerard and Auria Rayvnne with curing Caitlin Harris from a Hollow infection while Noah Dumaine keeps an eye on Caitlin, and to make a weapon that can be used against the Hollow," Kacie answered. "Yes, all the Davis-Thompsons are here now."

"How are they planning on making a weapon?" Kol asked curiously.

"Those thorns are made with Kassandra's blood and the Hollow's magic," Hayley told them. "Auria, Lindsey and Tory found out a way to make a weapon made of the Hollow's blood and a product of her creation, so that we can use it against her to weaken her until Auria finds a way to take her power so we can all kill her."

"Yes, it was Auria's bloodlines that gave her her power 1500 years ago, and that means that she can take it away, but it also means that her bloodlines can give her more power," Mikayla told them. "That's why she wants to make Auria go darkside, and being around this family is not making it easier for her, so Tory, Luke, Lindsey and Ryan are helping Marcel and Auria instead. Though Tory can still help us with getting through to Elijah."

"They just need one cursed rosebush to make this weapon, and we can burn the rest," Klaus told them. "Although, once they do make this weapon to use against the Hollow, it will still be poisonous to us as well, because it still has Kassandra's blood on the thorns."

Eliza was thinking. "What if we added Nicola's blood to the weapon, too? I mean, her blood was poisonous to the Hollow when she was just a spirit, so it will definitely still be poisonous to her when she's alive, and if we add the venom of the final living werewolves or hybrids from the wolf lines that she created, another thing of her creation, albeit by Rosalita's mind control, then it can definitely kill her again. So Kassandra's cursed rosebush, added with Nicola's blood, Auria and Lindsey's magic, and the venom from Hayley, Mikayla, Kacie, Tory, Luke, Ryan and Riley. We've got Davis, Rayvnne and Donovan/Luna magic, and the venom from the lines of werewolves that can defeat the Hollow. Lockwood, Thompson, Labonair and Grey. Plus a Salvatore Huntress blood that is poisonous to witches and witch spirits."

The others looked at Eliza in surprised approval of this plan, impressed with her thinking.

"Whoever said that having the genius of Eliza Forbes around wouldn't be helpful in New Orleans?" Kol asked sarcastically.

Eliza smiled. Kaylin, Rebekah, Hayley and Mikayla chuckled in amusement.

"A weapon of the Hollow's creation that can be altered with both her blood and the Huntress' blood to kill her, and the venom of the wolves that she and Rosalita created, especially since the beast, Kassandra, is what was used to create the rosebushes, and Rosalita practically created Lucien and Kassandra into the beasts," Riley told them. "Well, there is certainly some irony to that. It's almost poetic."

"Well, first things first, we need to destroy the others weapons that give our enemies their advantage," Kassandra told them. "Now, one scratch from the rosebush is lethal to all of you. Freya has tracked down the eight that remain, including the main plant, here in the ninth ward. One will remain unharmed so that Auria and Lindsey can make their weapon with the Hollow's blood, and Nicola's blood, and the venom from Hayley, Mikayla, Kacie, Tory, Luke, Ryan and Riley, but it will also have my blood. I think it makes great sense that Labonair, Lockwood, Thompson and Grey venom to be added, just to be sure. Rayvnne and Davis magic is perfect also."

"Fine," Rebekah told them. "So we burn them all except for one to create the weapon, and then we use that weapon to murder that wretched bitch."

Hayley, Riley, Kol and Eliza walked toward the door. Kassandra, Rebekah, Kacie and Mikayla followed.

Klaus turned to Kaylin. "Please stay here with Freya, Nicola, Hope, Rae, Emma and Danny. You can make sure your surrogate sister slash distant niece doesn't lose control, Kaylin. "

"And you can make sure I'm not out there, in danger of being hurt," Kaylin replied. Klaus sighed, smirking slightly, tilting his head. "It's fine. Go. You have plenty of backup with your siblings around, even if you guys do split up from the others. But, Nik? Lethal thorns, resurrected witches. What could possibly go wrong?" Klaus chuckled. "Just be careful out there."

Klaus nodded. "Of course."

Kaylin leaned closer to kiss Klaus for a moment, sweet and passionate. Klaus returned the kiss in kind. They pulled away.

"From now on, every time that I'm gonna kiss you, I'm gonna kiss you like it's the last time I have the chance, because I've already lost you repeatedly, and I know there's a chance that it could happen again," Kaylin told him. "And I don't want to regret not doing anything."

Klaus smiled. "I'll be fine, Kaylin."

"Good luck," Kaylin told him.

Klaus backed away toward the door, raising his arms in a shrug. "Thank you. I'm gonna need it."

Klaus turned around and followed the others.

Kaylin watched him go, smiling a small smile.

Ballroom

Freya had set up a sigil surrounded by candles on the floor, setting up the spell on the table nearby. Nicola was sitting nearby.

Kaylin walked in. "The others just left to set off on their mission today. You actually think you can pull this off?"

"I don't know," Freya told them, walking toward the sigil. "I've never actually tried this before."

Nicola turned after her. "Freya..." Freya turned to face them. "There are a thousand years of memories in there. How will you know which is the right one?"

"He'll recognize me," Freya answered. "If I can find the core of his being or whatever memory he's clinging to, I'll pull him out." She walked into the sigil, laying down, chanting. "Tillate ulaz. Tillate ulaz. Tillate ulaz. Tillate ulaz. Tillate ulaz."

The candles around the sigil lit magically.

The broken pendant on the table began to glow blue.

Freya went into the pendant, leaving Nicola and Kaylin waiting worriedly and anxiously.

Pendant - White Corridor

Freya appeared at the end of the white corridor, looking down the hallway at the endless line of doors, a thousand memories' worth. She looked worried that she would have to search all of them to find Elijah.

----~----

St. James Infirmary

Inadu was dragging a body across the floor toward a pile of three more bodies. She knelt next to them, kneeling next to a cursed rosebush on the floor next to her. She smirked in satisfaction.

Luke, Tory, Lindsey, Ryan, Marcel and Auria walked in.

Luke walked further into the room. "Now, that is messed up. The first thing you do after being reborn is you massacre the witches who've been following your crazy ass."

"They lived to serve," Inadu told them. "They can die doing the same. Glory awaits those who sacrifice their blood to me." She stood. "I wonder..." She turned to face them, smirking, tilting her head. "How will you serve me?"

"You've been inside my head," Marcel told her. "You know that's never gonna happen. I'm never going to follow you, and I'm not going to let you take Auria."

"You also know that us wolves have the power to stop you with the help of Auria's magic and Nicola's witch-poisoning blood," Ryan told her. "Don't you, Inadu?"

Inadu smiled. "So you know my real name. It's been a long time since someone called me that. And that's not all I know. You've come here in the wishing of obtaining my blood to create a weapon that is made of my creation so you can use it against me. And to save Caitlin Harris. How gallant. She served me well, even if it wasn't willingly, but my magic has overrun her body. An infection that will destroy her."

"Yeah, I already tried to siphon the infection out of her," Tory told her. "It got her to wake up from Caitlin little coma last night, but it didn't save her. So, we're looking for another way."

Inadu stepped closer to them, tilting her head, smirking. "All of this fighting can come to an end, and I can save Caitlin, if you pledge your loyalty to me."

"We didn't come to make a deal," Auria told her. "We just came to get what we came for. Your blood. And we can take it from you. We will."

Lindsey and Auria started to cast a major pain infliction spell on Inadu to distract her. Since her power was created by both of Auria's bloodlines, her magic hurt her more than anything else, but Lindsey's power was also painful to her, even if it wasn't as painful.

Tory let out a scream that released a psychic bomb that radiated out to Inadu, throwing her to the floor. The sound of the psychic bomb scream was painful to everyone in the club, worse than a pain infliction spell, making them all hold their heads, though they were all fighting through the pain to get this done. Ryan grabbed a stake wrapped in thorns from the floor, using it to hold Inadu in a chokehold from behind so she couldn't get up. Marcel and Luke rushed up to Inadu, biting her on either side of the neck, feeding, while Tory continued her psychic scream at the Hollow to disorient her and cause her pain, and while Auria continued to cast her pain infliction spell. Lindsey started to magically float the blood into a cup in her hand.

Inadu groaned in pain for a moment but didn't bother to fight back, starting to relax, looking almost bored. Marcel and Luke abruptly stopped feeding, pulling back, yelling in pain, as the Hollow's blood that seemed to be black was burning them, making them cough it out to the floor.

Ryan was in shock, horrified.

Tory stopped her psychic scream in shock and horror.

Lindsey and Auria were also horrified.

Inadu watched smugly in amusement.

Marcel and Luke stopped coughing, breathing heavily, looking up.

Inadu stood, casting a major pain infliction spell on Marcel, Luke, Tory, Lindsey, Ryan and Auria, making them all fall to the floor and hold their heads in pain. When they looked up, it was to see that Inadu had disappeared.

Lindsey picked up the thorn stake from the floor where Inadu had made Ryan drop it when she cast the pain infliction spell. "It's okay. We got Kassandra's thorns, we got Inadu's blood. All we need now is Nicola's blood, Hayley, Mikayla, Kacie, Tory, Luke, Ryan and Riley's venom, and a hell of a lot Malchance and Rayvnne magic to forge the weapon like Auria. Labonair, Lockwood, Thompson and Grey venom is just to make sure."

"And to reverse engineer the Hollow's blood to find a cure for Caitlin to save her," Auria added.

Marcel nodded. "Yeah. We've got this."

They looked at each other in relief, unable to believe that they actually got what they needed.

Cabin in the Woods

Four witches were kneeling on the floor, who followed the Hollow, chanting over four cursed rosebushes.

Rebekah rushed up behind Witch 1, ripping his heart out of his back, letting him fall dead, dropping the heart, looking at the other witches. "Can I interest anyone in a swift and painless death?"

Witch 2 stood, running toward the door.

Kol appeared in his way, leaning against the door. "Oh, come now, Bex. Do we have to be so swift?"

Kassandra rushed up behind Witch 3, lifting her up from the floor, restraining her, taking her weapon from her.

Klaus walked in. "Sadly, lucky for you lot, we're in a rush."

Kassandra let her eyes glow red, veins crawl down her cheeks, revealing her two rows of sharp teeth on top and bottom of her jaw, smirking, biting into Witch 2's neck, feeding.

Abattoir Compound - Ballroom

Freya was still unconscious within the sigil on the floor, surrounded by lit candles.

Kaylin and Nicola sat nearby, watching her worriedly.

----

Pendant - White Corridor

Freya was still in the endless hallway with a thousand years worth of memories and white doors. She slowly walked down the hallway, listening to voices behind the nearest door.

She heard Elijah's voice. "I gave my word."

She heard Kassandra's voice. "You tend to give your word at the most inopportune times, brother. We've been doing things your way all day." Freya opened the door. "Come on. Just one little snap and it's 'Toodle-loo, Agnes.'"

Memory - 1.06 Fruit of the Poisoned Tree

Night - St. Anne's Church

Klaus was restraining the witch Elder Agnes by holding her throat, while other witches stood around. Elijah and Kassandra were facing them.

Klaus let Agnes go, raising his arms in a shrug.

"Kassandra?" Elijah asked.

Kassandra smiled. "Yes, brother."

Kassandra rushed over to Witch 1, ripping his heart out, letting the body fall. She used the other hand to throw Witch 2 into the air, making him fall onto the pews and snap his own neck due to the fall. She turned to Witch 3, ripping out his heart, letting the body fall. She turned to the others with a heart in each hand, letting them fall to the floor, blood dripping from her fingertips, nonchalant but pleased.

Freya watched uncomfortably from the back of the church.

Elijah grabbed Agnes by her throat, pushing her back. "Nobody hurts my family and lives." He snapped her neck, killing her, letting her body fall to the floor. Elijah turned to leave, walking down the aisle. "No one."

"Elijah?" Freya asked. "Elijah."

Elijah hadn't seen Freya. The memory in front of her disappeared.

----

Pendant - White Corridor

Freya closed the door, walking along toward another memory, where she heard the sounds of fighting, opening the door, walking inside.

----

Memory - 1.21 Battle of New Orleans

Night - Abattoir Compound - Courtyard

Freya walked into the courtyard to watch the fight between Kassandra, Elijah and the vampires.

Vampire 4 tried to stake Elijah with an ordinary stake. Elijah grabbed him, turning toward Vampire 5 advancing from behind him, making him stake his own. Elijah took the stake from him, staked Vampire 4, pulling it out, hitting Vampire 6 in the face with it.

Freya continued to watch, walking closer, while Kassandra and Elijah continued to fight.

Elijah kicked Vampire 13, backhand punching Vampire 14 in the face, making him fall.

Freya watched as the fight ended, when Elijah and Kassandra were both splashed in blood, before the memory faded away. She was getting frustrated because she couldn't find her brother.

----

Cabin in the Woods

Rebekah put four cursed rosebushes in the fireplace to burn them, looking toward where Klaus, Kassandra and Kol were standing next to Witch 4. "Like stealing candy from babies."

Kol sat next to Witch 4. "Yes, but I'm not finished with this one."

"Hurry up," Klaus told him. "We still have more ground to cover."

"What is the point of interrogation?" Rebekah asked. "We know their motives. New Orleans witches despise our family." Kassandra stroke a match, tossing it into the fireplace to burn the weapons. "They always have."

"Because you are beasts, evil atrocities against nature," Witch 4 told them. "Your kind has ruined the city."

Kol grabbed Witch 4 by the chin to make him look at him. "Yes, and I'm the worst of the worst. So tell me, is your master going to save you from me?"

Kol violently let him go.

Witch 4 laughed. "Go ahead, kill me. My life ends for a greater cause than you can never fathom. The Hollow is risen. Nothing can stop her. Not you, not even the Ancestors, despite what they might claim."

Kol glared at him coldly, standing. "The Ancestors?"

Klaus turned to throw a stake into Witch 4's chest, killing him. "I thought he'd never shut up."

Kol walked closer. "Is it true? Are the Ancestors back? Are you telling me I could have seen her?"

"Do you think I would deny you that happiness?" Kassandra asked. "I was trying to protect you, brother. Davina Claire is much changed, and not for the better. She tried to make me kill Nik. But it's not the first time she's tried to have us killed. Did you forget how she resurrected you in the first place, by working with the Strix and handed us over to them so that they could kill us once she finished breaking the sirelinks? She didn't care if we were killed if she got you back."

"Oh, like your romantic choices are any better than mine," Kol replied. Klaus and Rebekah knew that was crossing a line, and Kol regretted saying it as soon as he said it. "Kassandra..."

Kassandra was a little hurt but a little angry. "Lucien was out of his mind because of your ex-girlfriend Rosalita's mind control, because of Nik's compulsion, and because of the Ancestors's hex. Your darling Davina was very sound of mind."

Kol sighed in regret. "Sandra..."

"You've had five years to move on from the death of Davina," Kassandra told him. "Mikayla has had five years to move on from the death of Jackson. I haven't had any time to move on from Lucien because of a hex plaguing my mind for five years and because the Hollow is now tormenting me with visions of him and empty promises to bring him back if I did what she said. I would have rather died last night than Elijah, to redeem myself to all of you and so the Hollow could no longer use this against me. Remember that."

Kassandra rushed out of the cabin, leaving.

Rebekah started to follow. "Kassandra! Sandra, wait!"

Klaus put his arm out to stop Rebekah from following Kassandra. "Wait. Give her time to calm down. Until Keelin can remedy a solution for Kassandra and Nicola from what you two and Eliza Forbes brought us, they're both unstable, especially after the Hollow killed Elijah to make both of them lose their minds or lash out. They are both vulnerable right now. In true Salvatore and Mikaelson style."

Kol regretted what he said more now than he did before, obviously mentally berating himself for driving Kassandra away like that.

Rebekah was worried about what could happen to their sister. "Nik, Kol..."

"Kassandra will be fine," Klaus told them. "Just give her a moment of peace to calm down."

----

Pendant - White Corridor

Freya was walking down the long corridor of white doors. She saw a door with the Mikaelson emblem on it, hearing laughter from the other side. She heard Klaus, Elijah, Kassandra, Rebekah and Kol's voices inside, smiling at what she knew would be a happy memory, walking inside.

Flashback - 1400s

Night - Castle - Dining Hall

Klaus, Kassandra and Kol were sitting at the table, laughing together. Rebekah and Elijah were standing, laughing.

Kassandra was tossing food at Kol teasingly. "You liar. You swine."

Kol laughed.

"Well, it certainly took me a long time, but I finally found it," Rebekah told them, showing them a bottle of wine.

"Oh, no, no, that Bordeaux was a gift from the Duke of Baden," Klaus told her.

Rebekah poured them each a glass. "Yes, a very lovely gift, intended to be shared on a special occasion."

"Perhaps, say, a family dinner that did not end with one of us getting daggered," Kol told them.

Kassandra laughed, teasingly throwing something at Klaus. "Indeed, indeed."

Elijah raised his glass. "It's more than worth the indulgence. Yes, to my beloved siblings, together beneath one roof for the first time in centuries with neither an argument, nor a grievance to be found."

Kassandra raised her glass, smiling. "Cheers to that."

Klaus, Kol and Rebekah raised their glasses, smiling. "Cheers."

They each took a drink.

Freya watched them, smiling, walking closer. "Elijah."

Elijah looked behind him as if he kind of heard her, but not entirely.

Kassandra took a drink. "Oh, that is lovely."

The chatter continued in the background as Freya tried to get through to her brother.

"It's me," Freya told him. Elijah turned around, looking for the source of the voice, seemingly unable to see Freya in front of him. "Elijah?"

Elijah looked directly at Freya, before the entire memory faded once again.

Abattoir Compound - Ballroom

Freya was still unconscious within the sigil on the floor, surrounded by lit candles.

Nicola and Kaylin sat nearby, watching her worriedly.

Freya suddenly gasped awake, sitting up, breathing heavily.

All of the candles extinguished around her.

Kaylin instantly walked closer, kneeling next to Freya worriedly. "Freya, what's wrong?"

"I thought I found him, and he just vanished right in front of me," Freya answered. Kaylin helped Freya stand. "That's not our only problem. I can't search Elijah's mind and sustain the spell at the same time."

Freya walked toward the table.

Nicola was thinking. "Can you send me in?" Freya and Kaylin looked at Nicola. "I know magic doesn't work on me, but this is more mental than it is magical. And you wouldn't need magic to send me in, just psychic energy, right? And we know that works on me because Cade and the Sirens were able to use it to control me, and Tory still uses psychic energy to control me when she has to."

Freya was thinking, nodding. "Yes, I think we could do that. But we need Tory here."

Kaylin pulled her phone out. "I'm calling Tory now, asking her to come over so we can do this."

"He'll respond to me," Nicola told them. "I can find him."

"To place you into the pendant, Tory would need more psychic energy than she has herself," Freya told them. "And we know of one other psychic who is even stronger than her, who will become stronger than the Devil himself. Rae."

Kaylin shook her head. "No, she's too young for this."

Freya walked closer. "She's young, but she's strong. Stronger than I was at her age. Stronger than any psychic I've ever known. Kaylin, I would never hurt your daughter, ever. I will protect her as if she is my own flesh and blood. I promise you that."

Nicola looked at Kaylin.

Kaylin sighed, giving in, nodding. "What do we have to do?"

"Tory and Rae can transfer Nicola's mind into the pendant using their psychic powers, and I can anchor them with magic so that we won't lose them in that maze, but I will need help to do it," Freya answered.

"Magical help?" Kaylin asked.

Freya nodded. "Like Hope, Emma and Danny. They can help me anchor Tory, Rae and Nicola so they don't get lost in the pendant. We can do this. This is the only option left."

Kaylin and Nicola nodded in agreement, walking away to go get Hope, Rae, Emma and Danny, while Kaylin was calling Tory.

Warehouse

There were five vampires standing above the final three thorn weapons, preparing to move them.

Eliza, Kacie, Mikayla, Hayley and Riley appeared.

Eliza rushed up behind Vampire 1, stabbing him in the back with a stake, but didn't puncture his heart, twisting the stake in his back toward his heart. "Don't you know that vampires who serve the Hollow are just little lap dogs to a psycho witch?"

"Yeah, you'll have to forgive my friend Eliza," Kacie told them. "She used to be all sunshine and rainbows before a Siren gave her a taste of the dark side. She might not be evil anymore, but she's not exactly a big bright ray of sunlight, either."

"Consider yourself improved, Eliza," Riley told her.

Eliza smiled, taking the stake out of Vampire 1's back to stake him in the heart, killing him, letting him fall.

Vampire 2 rushed toward Mikayla to try and slit her with a weapon. Mikayla ducked, grabbing him by the arm, breaking it, making him drop the weapon, punching him in the face, kneeing him in the stomach, trying to punch him in the face again. Vampire 2 ducked, trying to rip her heart out. Mikayla caught his wrist, transforming, biting it viciously, snapping his neck, letting him fall to the floor with the fatal bite.

Vampire 3 tried to punch Kacie. Kacie ducked, punching him in the stomach, grabbing him, spinning around at vampire speed to slam him into the wall, ripping his heart out, letting the body and heart fall.

Vampire 4 tried to attack Hayley. Hayley caught his hand, spinning closer to bite him on the neck, ripping his throat out, killing him, letting him fall.

Vampire 5 tried to punch Riley. Riley caught his arm, twisting it until it broke, letting go of his arm to grab his head, biting him on the neck, letting him fall with the wolf bite, his eyes glowing gold.

Eliza, Mikayla, Kacie, Hayley and Riley looked at each other smugly, smirking.

Abattoir Compound - Ballroom

Tory was here with Kaylin, Nicola and Freya, along with the children.

Hope removed her bracelet so she could use her magic.

Kaylin was kneeling in front of Hope, Rae, Emma and Danny. "You don't have to do this if you don't want to."

"It's okay, Kaylin," Danny told her. "We're not afraid."

Emma smiled. "Ready?"

Danny nodded. "Ready."

Rae nodded. "I'm ready." She looked at Kaylin. "Give me a little luck?"

Kaylin smiled, nodding. Rae held a hand to Kaylin's cheek while Kaylin caressed Rae's, both of them smiling.

Hope handed the bracelet to Freya, standing. "So, Uncle Elijah's in there somewhere clinging to broken memories?"

Freya took Hope, Emma and Danny by the hands, leading them to the table so they could begin the spell that anchored Nicola, Tory and Rae to this world while Nicola's mind went into the pendant. "The core of his being has retreated deep into his subconsciousness, but yes, he's still there."

Nicola sat down in the sigil. "And I just search until I find him?"

"We don't have time," Freya told her. "There are too many memories for you to randomly search. You'll have to think, where would Elijah find refuge? Has to be somewhere that represents the fundamental basis of who he is. Hopefully, that's a good place. When you find it, draw him out and wake him up. But be careful. His mind his unstable."

"Yeah, well, so is mine," Nicola told them, laying down within the sigil.

"I can help you go inside and find him," Tory told her. "But Freya's right. I do need Rae's help."

Kaylin sat down nearby, watching worriedly.

"Nikki?" Danny asked. Nicola looked up at them. "Be careful."

Nicola smiled a small smile, touched that they were worried about both her and Elijah. "I'll be right back."

Hope, Emma, Danny and Rae nodded.

Tory was kneeling behind Nicola's head, holding a hand to her head, holding out her other hand so Rae could take it in her own. Rae held her other hand above the shattered pendant, pointing her finger on the stone lightly so they could transfer Nicola's mind into the pendant to get to Elijah.

The pendant started to glow. The candles around Nicola magically ignited.

Freya, Hope, Emma and Danny were holding hands, starting the spell that would anchor them here so they wouldn't get lost in the pendant.

Freya chanted the spell twice to tell Hope, Emma and Danny what to say. "Tillate ulaz. Tillate ulaz."

Freya, Hope, Emma and Danny started to chant together. "Tillate ulaz. Tillate ulaz. Tillate ulaz. Tillate ulaz."

Kaylin was watching Nicola, Tory and Rae worriedly.

Pendant - White Corridor

Nicola appeared in the endless hallway with a thousand years' memories worth of white doors. "Come on, Elijah, where are you?"

Nicola walked down the hallway, hearing both her voice and Elijah's voice behind a white door.

"How are you?" Elijah asked.

"Better," Nicola answered. "Still pissed off that the Hollow knows all she has to do to take me off the table is get me to lose control. Still reeling from what happened earlier at the church."

Nicola walked closer, hearing Elijah's voice. "I know that I promised to help you control yourself, to help you learn control. And I know that the anchor you are using to stay in control is me. But I had to try to save my brother today, even if it meant dying to save him, to stop my sister from being forced to kill him."

Nicola opened the door, listening to her voice. "I'm not mad, Elijah. I get it. Survival demands sacrifice. Do you know how many sacrifices I made for Stefan, Kaylin and Damon even when they didn't deserve it? The way I see it, you offering yourself up to die to save Klaus so Kassandra didn't have to kill him for your family is no different from me selling my soul and Alex's soul and my family's souls to Cade so that I didn't have to kill them."

Memory - 4.08 Voodoo In My Blood

Night - Abattoir Compound - Elijah's Study

Nicola slowly walked into the door, seeing Elijah and Past-Nicola.

"It seems that everything both you and I have gone through has brought us to this," Elijah told her. Past-Nicola nodded in agreement, finishing her drink, placing her glass down. "I can honestly say that I've never had someone who understood me as completely as you do."

"Yeah, well, no one's understood me like you understand me, either," Past-Nicola told him.

"Seems like we're quite the pair," Elijah told her.

Past-Nicola chuckled, standing. "Your family needs you, though. So do I. Like you said, you're my anchor. And I don't think I want to know what would happen if I lost you. I need you. I love you. And after all of this, maybe we can actually have a good life. Or something close to it."

Elijah considered this seriously for a long moment, nodding in agreement, looking touched by the admission. "Manosque. It's this beautiful village in the south of France, the countryside." He walked closer to Past-Nicola, looking at her reassuringly and adoringly. "And when we end this... and we will end this..." He placed a hand on Past-Nicola's cheek, whispering. "I'll take you there. I can help you find peace and happiness. I promise you. Because I love you, too."

Past-Nicola was incredibly touched and relieved, stunned but happy with this. She leaned closer to kiss Elijah sweetly and passionately for a long moment. Elijah held his hand to her cheek, deepening the kiss. They pulled away after a moment, smiling small smiles.

Present Day-Nicola couldn't help a small smile at the memory, walking closer. "Elijah." Elijah could hear her, but was confused as to what was happening. "It's me. I know you're here." Past-Nicola faded. Elijah walked toward Present-Day Nicola. "Look at me."

After a long moment, Elijah looked at Nicola in confusion, before he faded away.

Nicola knew that she had almost gotten through to him, but needed to go on.

The French Quarter

Kassandra was walking down the street. Klaus, Rebekah and Kol joined her.

"There you are," Rebekah told her.

Kassandra sighed in annoyance. "Are you to play babysitters until Keelin develops a remedy for my broken mind?"

"We're just looking out for you," Rebekah told her. "Talk to us."

"And do what?" Kassandra asked. "State the obvious that my broken psyche can be a liability until we can find a way to fix it? I surely hope we find a way to fix it soon, before I lose my mind again."

"No one doubts you, Kassandra," Kol told her.

"Why not?" Kassandra asked. "I doubt me. All of you should, too, at least until my mind is mended. I should have had Tory lock me away again so I wouldn't become a liability."

Kol sighed. "I know you're hurt and scared without Elijah here, filled with grief, all made worse by the Hollow's influence over your already weakened mind state, which is what she intended for both you and Nicola when she targeted our brother. Kassandra, you can't let the Hollow win by letting her make you lash out like this."

They stopped walking, facing each other.

"This is not lashing out," Kassandra told them. "You've seen what happens when I really lash out, and it is dangerous and deadly to all those around me. Do you think that I want to give the Hollow the satisfaction she wants? No. I am fighting her, but it is hard to fight her when she continuously plays endless loops of hallucinations and memories in my head of Lucien, promising to bring him back if I submitted to her."

"You don't believe her, do you?" Kol asked.

"I don't know what to believe," Kassandra told them. "All I know is that I have his ashes stashed away in his penthouse where I had stayed for five years, from when I had to burn his body into dust after he was killed in front of me a third time."

Klaus, Rebekah and Kol were hurt by this statement, but understanding.

"I am sorry, Kassandra," Klaus told her. "I just did what I did to protect you."

"Well, you failed," Kassandra told him. "You've even admitted that you could have let Lucien live after Freya had taken his power away, but you didn't want to. I would have been safe from him then, Nik. And so would the rest of you. Perhaps if you had let him live, I wouldn't have been able to be corrupted by the Ancestors to this degree. You do realize that, don't you, brother?"

"Someone had to protect and avenge this family," Klaus told her.

"And there it is," Kassandra told him. "The excuse that you always use. You know, if you're so determined to be this way, then everything that Elijah has done for you, including his death, will be for nothing. At least Elijah had the heart to apologize to me about everything that had happened to both Lucien and me. He didn't try to justify his actions, he just simply gave me his most sincere apology about both of us. Not just me. He even apologized for letting you compel him to be you for 500 years and breaking his mind, and helping you all kill Lucien in front of me... again."

"We are sorry, Sandra," Rebekah told her. "Not just for you. For Lucien, too. I am so sorry about what happened to him, and I am sorry that I couldn't do anything to prevent any of it. And that I hadn't stopped Nik from compelling Lucien, either."

"Same as me," Kol told her. "I especially apologize since it was my psychotic ex-girlfriend Rosalita that was the mastermind behind all of this. And the fact that Rebekah and I couldn't help you because we were both hexed at the time as well."

Klaus walked closer to Kassandra. "Whatever you may think of me, sister, there is not a day that goes by that I don't regret doing what I did, to you, and to him. I know that this all started with my compulsion, even if it was Rosalita's mind control and the hex from the Ancestors that made Lucien lose himself completely. Knowing that I share the blame of what happened to him and to you... I've never forgiven myself.  I wish that I could take it back, but I can't. I am so sorry, Kassandra."

Kassandra was stunned by all their apologies and admissions, looking relieved and touched beyond compare. "You really mean that."

"Of course we do, Sandra," Kol told her.

"More than we've ever meant anything," Rebekah told her. "Kassandra..."

Kassandra let out a shaky breath of relief, finally completely calm and content with this. Klaus smiled a small smile, wrapping his arms around Kassandra comfortingly. Kassandra returned the embrace, finally able to relax. Rebekah and Kol smiled small smiles at this, relieved.

Pendant - White Corridor

Nicola closed the white door, walking through the corridor, eventually finding her way to a door that was different from all the rest, Elijah's red door, behind which she could hear screams, fighting and yelling, like what she had in her own mind to keep the Huntress at bay. "You're in here."

----

Memory - Flashback to Unknown Time

Night - Hovel House

Nicola slowly walked toward the red door, opening it, stepping inside, appearing in what looked like a hovel house, with dead bodies all over the floor, with a fire burning in the fireplace. She saw a past version of Elijah with long hair feeding on someone in a dark corner. "Elijah?" Elijah stopped feeding, standing. "I'm here to help you." Elijah let the body fall, slowly turning to face her. Nicola turned around, seeing Elijah appear in front of her, covered in blood. "Elijah, hey. Elijah, wake up." Elijah walked closer, completely void and detached like he was someone else. "It's me. Elijah."

Nicola backed away from Elijah as he continued to approach, driving her out of the building into the night forest outside.

----

Lafayette Cemetery

Auria, Marcel, Luke, Lindsey and Ryan were in Lafayette Cemetery.

Auria and Lindsey were standing at the alter, coating the thorned stake weapon in the Hollow's and Nicola's blood so they could remake the weapon to where it would harm Inadu, reverse engineering the blood to try and find a cure for Caitlin.

"You getting any closer to a cure for Caitlin?" Marcel asked.

"We're multitasking, Marcel," Lindsey told him. "Give us a minute."

"Thanks for taking the words right out of my mouth, Lindsey," Auria told her.

Lindsey smiled.

Marcel placed a tray that contained vials of venom on the alter next to them. "Venom from Tory, Kacie, Mikayla, Hayley, Riley, Luke and Ryan, in case you guys need Lockwood, Labonair, Grey and Thompson blood/venom to make the weapon all-powerful to kill the Hollow."

Ryan nodded. "Added with her blood and Nicola's blood and your magic, it should kill her."

"If we can get close enough to use it," Luke told them.

"That's why we have Nicola Salvatore, the Huntress immune to magic, stab the all-powerful witch," Marcel told them. "If anyone can get close enough to kill Inadu, it's Nicola. And I'm sure she'll do it happily after everything the Hollow did to Elijah, Kassandra, Kaylin, Rae, everyone else."

"Thanks, Luke, Ryan, for getting the venom and Nicola's blood," Lindsey told them.

Luke and Ryan nodded.

"I gotta say, I'm looking forward to seeing if this plan works," Luke told them.

Lindsey chuckled, turning to Auria and the two bags of dark objects on the alter next to the weapon they were making. "Some of these dark objects are mine and Ryan's."

"Yeah," Auria answered. "Your friend Eliza Forbes brought them to me, and I knew they belonged to you and Ryan, Lindsey, but we needed them for this. The other bag is from Kol Mikaelson, a gift that he gave me in return to see if he can pay a visit to Davina to talk to her, but the Ancestors won't let me do that. It's not up to me. The Ancestors only let me take Klaus, Hayley, Mikayla and Marcel to talk to her because we needed to know what they know, and they wanted Davina to try and sacrifice Klaus. They won't let me take Kol there just so he can see Davina one last time."

"All right, so, Astrid Malchance, a distant relative of Auria on her mother's side, helped Kol, Rosalita and a distant relative of Davina, Mary Alice Claire, helped them make these," Marcel explained. "I'm sure they'll come in handy in our fight against the Hollow. After all, since they were made by someone in Auria's mother's bloodline, I can almost guarantee that their magic will hurt the Hollow just as badly as Auria's magic does."

"So you're saying if we transfer the magic from these dark objects into the weapon, it will literally be an all-powerful weapon that can kill pretty much anything from witches to Originals to the Hollow?" Luke asked.

"That is exactly what they're telling us, Luke," Ryan answered.

"And a weapon like this being used to kill something like Inadu, it would create a massive surge of power," Lindsey told them. "A strong enough sacrifice than can bring Elijah back from the dead, and then some."

Auria was thinking. "Like Davina. Her soul was shredded by the Ancestors five years ago, but if we used the power of the Hollow's sacrifice, we might be able to bring her back along with Elijah."

"You're saying there's a chance to bring your friend Davina back?" Ryan asked.

"Might be a chance," Auria corrected. "Her soul may be too shredded for me to bring her back even if I used the power of the Hollow's death, if we can kill her. But I have to try."

"So you're saying don't get your hopes up but have a little faith?" Luke asked. "Story of our lives."

Marcel nodded in agreement, tilting his head. "Pretty much."

Luke smirked. "Awesome."

Auria and Lindsey smirked slightly in amusement, turning back to the weapon, using magic to transfer the power from the dark objects to the thorn stake that was already laced with the blood of Kassandra, Nicola, and Inadu, along with the venom of Hayley, Mikayla, Tory, Kacie, Luke, Ryan and Riley.

Warehouse

Hayley, Riley, Mikayla, Kacie and Eliza were destroying the rest of the thorned weapons. The only two vampires left alive were the ones that Mikayla and Riley had bitten.

Riley was pacing through the bodies of the vampires on the floor. "You guys put up a good fight, and I respect that." He walked toward one of the vampires left alive, who was crawling on the floor and groaning in pain. "But still, at the end of the day, too little..." He stepped onto the vampire's back, putting so much pressure onto his spine that he broke it, lifting him up to bite him in the neck and rip his head off with his teeth, killing him. "Too late."

Hayley used the last cursed thorn weapon to slit the other vampire that was still alive. "Let's see how you like it."

Hayley tossed the weapon into the fire.

"And that is the last one," Mikayla told them. She looked at Kacie, Eliza and Riley. "I guess we should thank you for your hard work."

Kacie smirked. "'Hard work'? Please, Mikayla, this was fun." Mikayla smiled. Kacie turned to Eliza. "So, Eliza, you were helping Kol and Rebekah for a while now."

"Yeah," Eliza agreed. "I know what you're getting at, Kacie, and nothing happened between me and Kol like that."

Kacie was surprised. "The player Kol Mikaelson didn't make a move on Eliza Forbes, the girl who he had a little fascination with while she was human in Mystic Falls, when she offered to help him with his sister if he helped her with her friend? I'm shocked."

Hayley and Mikayla smirked in amusement, while Riley rolled his eyes and looked away.

Eliza rolled her eyes, smirking. "We're friends, that's it. We had a lot to do and a couple of people to help."

"Come on," Hayley told them. "Let's hit the road. We're done here."

Riley, Hayley, Mikayla, Kacie and Eliza walked out together.

Abattoir Compound - Ballroom

Nicola was still unconscious inside the sigil, surrounded by lit candles. Tory and Rae were still bridging her mind into the pendant with psychic powers, their eyes closed to focus.

Freya, Hope, Emma and Danny were still holding hands and chanting the spell to make sure they weren't lost in the pendant. "Tillate ulaz. Tillate ulaz. Tillate ulaz. Tillate ulaz."

Kaylin watched them anxiously and worriedly.

Night - Woods

(Song:) We Are the Night - Raydia (Diana Haunts & James Warburton)

Nicola was in the night woods, looking toward Elijah, who seemed completely unlike himself, cold, detached, expressionless. Elijah walked closer as if he didn't recognize her, threateningly.

Nicola backed away. "You told me about your red door before, Elijah. How it's what your mother created inside your head for all of your terrifying deeds inside and forget them over time. That there was a darker version of you that you called the beast behind the red door. Like what Tory did for me, creating a space in my mind to lock the Huntress away before she breaks free. If this is your alter ego, it's not half as scary as mine." Elijah, still not awake or aware of anything that was going on, grabbing Nicola by the arms tightly. Nicola broke free, pushing him off. "Sorry, Elijah, but if I have to wake you up from your alter ego, I might have to tap into mine." Nicola punched Elijah in the face. Elijah tried to punch her in the face. Nicola ducked, kicking him in the stomach. Elijah punched her in the face. Nicola punched him in the face three times, spinning to kick him in the chest. "Come on, please, wake up."

Nicola started to shake in her unconscious state, shaking Tory and Rae out of their trance.

Rae ran over to Nicola worriedly. "Aunt Nikki!"

"Rae," Tory told her. "Rae, stop. If you disturb anything, the spell might fall apart."

Hope, Emma and Danny stopped the spell, worried and horrified.

"Aunt Freya, please, do something," Hope told her.

"Hope, Emma, Danny, I need you to focus on the spell," Freya told them.

Kaylin stood up worriedly, walking closer to the sigil to stand next to Nicola.

Pendant - Memory - Flashback to Unknown Time

Night - Woods

Elijah threw Nicola into a tree, making her fall to the ground.

Nicola looked up, sighing. "I'm not used to someone standing a chance with me in a fight." Elijah walked closer until he was standing in front of Nicola, kneeling down in front of her. "I don't want to fight you, but I will if that's what it takes to wake you up. I'm just trying to bring you home."

Elijah put a hand on the side of Nicola's head, rushing to push her against the tree behind her. Nicola pushed Elijah off of her. Elijah tried to punch Nicola. Nicola ducked, backhand punching him in the face, kicking him in the chest, spinning to kick him in the face, making him back away, sighing, knowing that she had to let the Huntress out a little bit to get past the beast of the red door to get through to Elijah, transforming.

Kaylin watched them anxiously and worriedly.

Nicola was still shaking.

Rae was shaking Nicola to try to wake her up. "Come back, Aunt Nikki, come back."

Kaylin pulled Rae away so that she wouldn't disturb the spell, kneeling in front of her. "Rae. You have to focus on bridging Nikki in there and bringing her out, or she's gonna be stuck in there, too."

Rae looked up at Kaylin. "Mom, I can still hear her thoughts and see what she sees. The Huntress is trying to take control and fight Elijah to wake him up."

Tory looked at her worriedly. "Kaylin, Nicola can't keep control like that for long while in the pendant, not if she has to fight Elijah's darker half with her own darker self to wake him up."

"Let me help," Rae told them desperately. "I can save her."

"Listen, I need you to trust me," Tory told her. "This is what we're gonna do, Kaylin. Rae and I are gonna go inside the pendant. We're gonna call out to Nicola and Elijah and try to get them to hear us and bring them back. Okay?" Rae nodded. "Now, when we're in the hallway, we do not open any doors. Do you understand?"

Rae nodded.

Kaylin sighed worriedly. "Okay." Nicola was still shaking in her unconscious state. Kaylin stood, leading Rae into the sigil next to Nicola. "Okay. Lay down, okay?" She had Rae lay down next to Nicola, kissing her on the forehead, where Rae snuggled up to Nicola and held onto her tightly, standing. "I'll see you soon."

Tory knelt next to Nicola and Rae, placing a hand on either of their heads, closing her eyes to use her psychic abilities to transfer both her mind and Rae's mind into the pendant.

Freya, Hope, Emma and Danny were still holding hands and chanting the spell to make sure they weren't lost in the pendant. "Tillate ulaz. Tillate ulaz. Tillate ulaz. Tillate ulaz."

The pendant began to glow as Tory and Rae was sent inside.

Pendant - White Corridor

Tory and Rae appeared in the corridor of memories.

"Elijah?" Tory called.

"Aunt Nikki, we're here," Rae called.

Tory looked around.

Memory - Flashback to Unknown Time

Night - Woods

(Song:) Paint It Black - Hidden Citizens

Elijah was still as the beast behind the red door. Nicola was very close to losing herself to the Huntress completely. Elijah picked Nicola up, slamming her onto the ground, trying to punch her. Nicola rolled out of the way, making him hit the ground instead. They both stood. Elijah tried to punch her. Nicola ducked, punching him twice, trying for a third. Elijah caught Nicola by the arm, twisting it behind her back, restraining her from behind.

They heard Tory and Rae from the corridor.

"Elijah?" Tory called.

"Where are you, Aunt Nikki?" Rae asked.

Nicola was facing a tree, running up the side of it to flip out of Elijah's restraint, landing on the ground behind him, kicking him into the tree in front of them. Elijah turned to face her.

----

White Corridor

Tory and Rae walked down the corridor, coming across the red door.

Tory got an idea, turning to face Rae, kneeling in front of her. "Rae, they might be able to hear us, but they might not be able to register that it's us, not if they've lost control."

"So how do we get through to them from here?" Rae asked.

"Do you remember what I told you about psychic bombs?" Tory asked. "They can be so loud and painful to those around us that they have no choice but to stop what they're doing or revert back to themselves, and it can even throw them through air." Rae nodded. "All right, so I'm gonna call for Elijah. I need you to call for Nicola so we can get them both back."

Rae nodded in understanding and agreement. "I can do that."

Tory smiled a small smile. "I know you can."

----

Memory - Flashback to Unknown Time

Night - Hovel House

Nicola and Elijah got to the hovel where the red door was. Elijah grabbed Nicola by the arm to twist it behind her back. Nicola elbowed him in the face to get him to let go, trying to open the door. Elijah pulled Nicola away from the door, lifting her up, pushing her onto a table behind her, pushing her hands onto the table on either side of her head to try to pin them, transforming, lunging forward to bite her on the neck, surprising her as he started to drink. Nicola tried to stop fighting as she tried to take control back from the Huntress, trying to calm down as Elijah continued to feed, but it wasn't working, breathing heavily, her head tilting back with her eyes closed.

----

White Corridor

Tory and Rae were holding hands, holding their other arms out at their sides, gathering enough of their psychic energy combined to make the corridor shake around them. When they screamed to release their psychic bombs, Tory screamed Elijah's name while Rae screamed 'Nikki', making blinding bright white light appear around them.

----

Memory - Flashback to Unknown Time

Night - Hovel House

Elijah still had Nicola pinned to the table, feeding on her. Nicola headbutted him in the face to make him let go, kneeing him in the stomach, sitting up to push him off, punching him in the face, spinning closer to elbow him in the chest, spinning away in the opposite direction to kick him in the face with so much strength he fell back into the wall behind him.

The psychic bombs from Tory and Rae reached past the red door into the room, shining the same blinding bright white light over Elijah and Nicola when they heard their voices psychically screaming their names. The power of the psychic energy was enough to cause both of them agony, waking Elijah up as himself, and giving Nicola back control over herself.

The white light faded, leaving them in shock and darkness.

Nicola sat up, looking at Elijah. They were both completely calm now.

Elijah was absolutely in shock. "Nicola?"

Nicola sighed shakily in relief. "Hello, Elijah. Are you okay?"

Elijah, still completely in shock and confusion, didn't know how to answer, remembering what had happened, looking horrified by all of this, by what he had tried to do. "I'm... I'm sorry. I..."

Nicola was still catching her breath, nodding. "I know."

Nicola took Elijah by the hand, backing away out of the red door, leading him with her.

----

White Corridor

Once Nicola and Elijah were both in the white corridor of memories, Elijah was immediately back to his present day self, clean and in a suit.

Tory and Rae walked closer in relief.

Rae ran into Nicola's arms. "Aunt Nikki!"

Nicola held her close, sighing in relief. "Rae."

"Are you okay?" Tory asked.

"We're okay," Elijah answered. "It's okay. We're both ourselves now."

"Go home," Nicola told them. "Tell Freya it's safe it's safe to fix the pendant." Tory and Rae nodded in agreement. Tory took Rae by the hand, using psychic energy to transport them back into their bodies, making them both disappear from the pendant. Nicola looked at Elijah. "I know that wasn't you. You've met my alter ego. I guess it's poetic that I got to meet yours."

"Nicola, I am so sorry," Elijah told her. "Please forgive me."

Nicola shrugged slightly, tilting her head barely. "Like I said. My darker half is scary, too. You saw that just now. If you forgive me for losing control in here, trying to get through to you by releasing my alter ego, I forgive you for yours." Elijah nodded in agreement. Nicola walked closer to wrap her arms around Elijah in relief. "I'm just glad you're okay."

Elijah held Nicola in his arms, still feeling guilty, but relieved that Nicola understood about what happened because it had happened to her repeatedly.

Pendant - White Corridor

Elijah and Nicola were still in the embrace when bright, blinding light started to fill the hallway, pulling her out of the pendant, and leaving Elijah alone.

----

Abattoir Compound - Ballroom

Nicola gasped awake, sitting up, breathing heavily.

Hope, Rae, Emma and Danny were excited and relieved that she was back. "Nikki!"

Hope, Rae, Emma and Danny ran over to Nicola, all kneeling next to her to hug her tightly in relief.

Freya, Tory and Kaylin walked closer in relief.

Kaylin knelt next to Nicola to embrace her in relief. "Nikki, you scared me for a minute." They pulled away. "You did it. You saved him."

The pendant on the table was restored, glowing blue.

Nicola was reeling from what had happened, ashamed that she had lost control while trying to save Elijah.

----

Pendant - White Corridor

Elijah was still standing in the corridor in front of the red door, looking guilt-ridden and self-loathing for what had just happened, for hurting Nicola while he had not been himself.

----~----

Night - Abattoir Compound - Coffin Room

Freya was standing next to Elijah's coffin to look at his desiccated form in pain, though she was relieved that she could now find a way to bring him back.

Rebekah walked closer, rubbing Freya's shoulder. "Good work today."

"He's not back yet," Freya told her.

"I don't suppose you could drop him into another body?" Rebekah asked.

"I can't risk it," Freya answered. "Not after what he's been through. His original body is where he belongs. And now that his mind is stable within the pendant, I can bring him back. I just need a large enough sacrifice."

"You're thinking what I'm thinking?" Rebekah asked.

"We use Auria and Lindsey's weapon to kill the Hollow, save our brother," Freya answered.

"Happy to do the dirty work," Rebekah told her.

Rebekah and Freya looked at Elijah's form sadly.

Noah/Caitlin's Apartment - Bedroom

Noah and Caitlin were lying in bed.

Noah was holding Caitlin's weak form in his arms to keep her awake so she didn't fall back into a coma. "A top notch day, huh? At least we got that thorn stake, right? And Auria and Lindsey are reverse-engineering the Hollow's blood to find a way to cure you. I mean, that's a win."

"If we're lucky, and it does heal me, then it's a win," Caitlin told him weakly.

"Caitlin, I am not going to lose you again," Noah told her. "We're gonna save you. I promise."

Caitlin managed a weak smile. "I know you'll do whatever it takes to try to save me, Noah. Of that I have no doubt. I just wish it's enough. I don't want to die."

"You won't have to," Noah told her. He thought for a moment. "I've been thinking about what you said earlier, about us needing Mikaelson help. Klaus used to tell me that having power made you a target, having allies made you vulnerable, so choose. You can have one or the other. Power or friends."

"You know that's psychotic, right?" Caitlin asked.

Noah smiled a small smile. "Yeah, but then, maybe there's some truth to it, too. And whatever is coming, whatever this city is going to face... the Hollow, the Originals... we will do the right thing. I've never doubted that."

"The Hollow is unlike anything we've ever faced before, because it was literally created by Rosalita," Caitlin told him. "There's a darkness to it, a coldness. I've felt it. Tasted it. It's killing me right now. And I'll tell you, Noah Dumaine, she shook me to the core. You, Auria, Marcel and I can't do this on our own. Even if she's a Ravynne and he's a Gerard. We're going to need all the allies we can get. Hayley and Mikayla Labonair, Kacie Lockwood, Tory Donovan, Luke and Ryan Thompson, Riley Grey, Eliza Forbes, Lindsey Davis-Thompson, the Salvatore girls. Even the Mikaelsons. Or else this fight's over before it starts."

(Song:) Till I See You Again - Unsecret feat. The Powder Room

Noah and Caitlin looked at each other sadly and anxiously. Noah kissed her slowly and softly. Caitlin returned the kiss, smiling weakly. Noah chuckled lightly. Caitlin leaned her head against Noah's chest weakly, just relaxing in his arms as he held her. Noah was worried and concerned by her deteriorating state, though he was still convinced that they could save her.

 Abattoir Compound - Outside

Eliza, Mikayla and Kacie walked into the compound.

Hayley and Riley were following more slowly.

"Riley, I knew that there was something special about you, but I didn't expect you to be a wolf from a nearly extinct family line that can help us fight the Hollow like us," Hayley told him. "It makes sense now, though, why she didn't want to let you go."

"Yeah," Riley agreed. "Lindsey and Mikayla keep saying that it was 'destiny' that you guys saved me and we got closer. I don't believe in destiny, Hayley."

"I don't know about destiny, but I do believe in legacy," Hayley told him. "These are our families' legacies. We should fight it together." They stopped in front of the compound. "Thanks for walking us back, but are you sure you wanna go back to the bayou? I mean, you're more vulnerable when you're alone, and the Hollow's already tried to kill all of us, and tried to have you kill yourself, Riley."

"You're asking me to stay here?" Riley asked in amusement.

Hayley chuckled slightly. "Well, yeah, for your protection. I just want to make sure you're safe, Grey, since you're up high on the Hollow's hit list."

Riley nodded. "It's not like I have anybody to go back to in the bayou. Fine. I'll stay here. For my protection, of course."

Hayley smiled. "Of course. Thank you, Riley, for helping."

"Hayley, I should be thanking you for everything you've done for me," Riley told her. Hayley smiled. Hayley and Riley looked at each other for a long moment. Riley sighed, turning to walk inside. Hayley looked a little disappointed. Riley stopped at the doorway, considering, turning back to Hayley. "I've never been one to make the first move, but if any of us can die at anytime with all of us on the line... and since I'm not immortal like the rest of you and should make the most out of this one life I have... what the hell?"

Hayley smiled. Riley placed a hand on either of her cheeks to kiss her passionately for the first time. Hayley returned the kiss in kind. They pulled away, looking at each other for a moment, kissing again. Hayley wrapped her arms around his neck, and Riley placed a hand on the small of her back to pull each other closer. They pulled away, looking at each other once again, both smiling breathlessly.

Inside - Courtyard

Nicola was sitting on the couch, holding the restored pendant that held Elijah's soul. Kaylin was sitting in a chair next to her. They were both drinking, taking a drink.

Klaus walked closer. "From what I hear, you saved the day."

"Yeah, well, Tory and Rae helped save both of us, but your brother has a habit of going into my mind to save me from the darkest parts of myself, so I finally got to repay him by returning the favor," Nicola told him. "His broken mind clung to the darkest part of himself. I can relate because I've been clinging and fighting the darkest part of me."

"Ah, I see," Klaus told her, sitting down. "So you ventured inside my brother's shattered mind, and it wasn't all unicorns and rainbows."

"I went through the red door," Nicola told them. Klaus' smirk fell. "He told me about it, and I told Tory about it a while back. It's where she got the idea for creating the space in my mind to shove the Huntress into until she breaks free from time to time."

"Though both of your darkest parts tend to break free and cause mayhem," Kaylin told her. Nicola nodded, looking down. "You don't seem surprised by what you've seen."

"Because I know what we are," Nicola told them. "We, all of us, are monsters. We've committed countless atrocities over the years. You Mikaelsons have had a lot longer than Kaylin and I have, or any Salvatores, but Kaylin and I've still done horrible things that we can never take back. Some of them are as bad as the things you've done. I knew that Elijah has done those things, too, so I can't be surprised when I see it for myself."

Klaus sighed. "But Elijah... has only ever done those things for family, and that is why he is the very best of us." Nicola and Kaylin managed a small smile. "He always has been."

Kaylin looked at Nicola. "You're more like him than any of us have ever imagined."

Nicola and Klaus nodded in agreement. All three of them took a drink.

Street

Kassandra was walking down the street, on the phone. "I suppose everyone is celebrating Elijah's rescue. One big happy family?"

Kol was in the compound, leaning against the wall. He looked down the hallway toward where Eliza, Mikayla and Kacie were drinking and chuckling to themselves, chuckling. "Something like that. You should be here, too, you know."

"I needed to take a walk and get some air," Kassandra told him. "Well, everybody got what they wanted."

"At least we have each other," Kol told her. "Something that I myself have to keep reminding me. Kassandra, I'm sorry for what I said earlier."

Kassandra managed a small smile, sighing. "So am I, Kol."

"It's fine, Sandra," Kol told her. "You were right. Eliza, Rebekah and I will stay in New Orleans, at least until we see this through. Just please come home, sister. We're all worried about you."

"Everyone is always worried about me," Kassandra told him.

"At least come home so that we can heal your mind," Kol told her. "We have everything that we need, and the only reason we have to wait is for Freya and Keelin to finish their concoctions, which they should be done with soon."

Kassandra chuckled lightly, nodding. "All right. I'll be home soon."

Kassandra hung up, picking a desert rose from a nearby bush, the same flower that Lucien had put in her hair outside the police station in 3.03 I'll See You in Hell or New Orleans.

Lucien: (voice over from 3.03 I'll See You in Hell or New Orleans) "The desert rose survives even in the cruelest of conditions. Flourishes, even."

Kassandra sighed, coming to a stop at Canal street. She looked confused as to how she got there, looking at the penthouse building in front of her.

Inadu walked closer, making the desert rose turn black, wither and die in Kassandra's hand.

Kassandra dropped the dead desert rose in surprise, turning to look at Inadu behind her, glaring at her. "I'm not in the mood for games, witch."

"Confused as to how you came here, Kassandra?" Inadu asked. "I lured you here... again, without you knowing. What if I told you that I already brought Lucien back to life and mended his mind, by using the power of your brother's sacrifice and the deaths of his entire sireline, just as I did for me? You already know my price if you want him free of me."

Kassandra realized that Inadu was the Hollow, but confused as to what she meant about already having brought back Lucien and mended his mind.

Inadu took out a knife, slitting her hand with it, making herself bleed.

They heard a familiar male groan of pain from up at the loft.

Kassandra was in shock. "Lucien?"

Kassandra rushed into the building.

----

Lucien's Penthouse

Lucien was inside a circle of salt, trapped there, shirtless, in jeans. He had the same slit mark on his hand that Inadu did.

Kassandra rushed inside, shocked to see him. "Lucien."

Kassandra tried to walk into the salt circle, but couldn't pass the barrier.

Lucien was just as affected to see her as she was to see him, but he was no longer twisted from mind compulsion, control, or a hex. He was himself. "Kassandra." He was overcome with memories of what had happened, drowning in guilt and self-loathing from what he had been forced to do by Rosalita and the Ancestors, and what he had done to Kassandra and her family. "Sandra, I'm so sorry."

Kassandra knew that this was real and that Lucien was himself again, looking shaken to the core, unable to deny that she felt utter relief to see the real Lucien again, but was nervous about what the Hollow would do now. She tried to speak but couldn't find the words to say, in complete shock.

Inadu walked in. "Some would go to the ends of the earth to protect their love. Both of you have proven that yourselves. Even if one or both of you were not or are not in sound of mind. While I cured Lucien, I could do the same for Kassandra. Unless you refuse, of course, but I don't think your broken mind would want to say goodbye to the love of your life a fourth time."

Lucien and Kassandra glared at her.

"You let him go, or I will rip you apart," Kassandra told her furiously.

"I wouldn't do that," Inadu told her. She showed them the cut on her hand. "He and I are now linked." Kassandra turned to look at the cut on Lucien's hand, that wasn't healing because of the Hollow. She turned to Inadu. "So, if you want to keep him safe, then you belong to me."

Kassandra glared at Inadu furiously, though she was relieved to have Lucien back, worried about what could happen to both of them now.
