chapter 4 - Going Rogue

From 1.01 "Pilot", in the streets, Barry/Flash was zooming through the streets.
Barry: (voice over) "My name is Barry Allen, and I am the fastest man alive. I am the Flash."
Vera/Pyra was using fire to fly through the sky.
Vera: (voice over) "I'm Vera Mitchell, and I am Pyra."
Aurora/Glacia stood in an abandoned street, kneeling to the ground, touching the cement, using the contact to build a smooth wall of ice over the ground.
Aurora: (voice over) "I'm Aurora Swan. You can call me Glacia."
Logan/Guardian was keeping a falling bridge together to save everyone on it.
Logan: (voice over) "My name is Logan Hemmings, and I am the strongest man alive. They call me Guardian."
Barry/Vera/Aurora/Logan: (voice over) "Central City is a city of heroes."

From Sapphire Arrow 2.19 "The Faces Behind the Mask", in the STAR Labs facility, Aurora, Logan, Cisco, Caitlin and Emma were talking to Justin and Felicity Smoak.
Emma: (voice over) "Previously on Sapphire Arrow and Worlds Colliding (The Flash)"
Aurora stood. "Felicity. Justin."
"Aurora," Felicity told her.
They embraced, pulling away.
From 1.03 "Things You Can't Outrun", in the Cortex, Emma sat at the computer. Logan stood behind her.
Emma smirked, typing away. "All right, boss man. Like how you seem to take charge." Logan raised his eyebrows slightly. Emma smiled. "I'm teasing. I like to tease people. I'm a teaser."
Logan chuckled.
From 1.03 "Things You Can't Outrun", in the hospital room, Joe was laying down. Emma, Iris and Eddie stood around him.
Iris looked at Joe awkwardly. "Dad, the thing is--"
"You two are dating," Joe finished. "I know."
Eddie and Iris looked at Emma.
Emma shook her head. "Don't look at me. I didn't say anything."
"So you're not mad?" Eddie asked.
"Oh, I'm mad," Joe answered.
After Eddie left the room.
"Do you like him?" Emma asked.
Iris smiled, nodding. "Yeah, I do."
"Then I will do my damnedest not to shoot him," Joe told her.
Emma smiled. "That is all we can expect."

Vera / Pyra:
Day One
Day - Streets
(Song:) All Right Now - Free
Vera/Pyra was using fire to fly through the sky.
Vera: (voice over) "What do the city's heroes do on their day off? Before the fire, if I wasn't still at the fire station at work, I'd be at home, alone, practicing singing and guitar, talents that I never show anybody else. But now my days off are different. Hell, all of my days are different, period. Now I'm not so lonely anymore. The fire didn't just give me powers. It didn't just give my the ability to fly, to absorb fire or to use fire as a weapon. It also gave me friends."
⚡
STAR Labs - Cortex
Logan was playing ping pong with Cisco.
Barry was playing chess with Wells.
Vera, Emma, Aurora and Caitlin were playing Operation. While Vera and Emma were waiting for their turn, they were also playing poker to pass the time.
Caitlin accidentally touched the metal of the Operation game, making the buzzer go off, frustrated. "This game isn't even remotely anatomically correct."
"That's not the point, Dr. Snow," Aurora told her, making her move, pulling out a piece without a problem.
"Then what is the point?" Caitlin asked.
Vera shrugged. "To continue ongoing training. Testing my ability to pull things from the fire. Literally. In a really weird way."
"In a really fun way," Barry corrected. "I know, Vera, not something you're used to, but fun does exist."
Vera scoffed softly, not the least bit offended. "Ouch."
Barry made his move at chess, stopping the timer. "I'm waiting on you, Dr. Wells."
Logan and Cisco continued to hit the ping pong ball back and forth. Logan hit the ball too hard with super strength, making it fly across the room and hit glass, making it break. He winced as the others looked at him. "And trying to learn how to control how much strength I use."
Cisco pointed at Logan. "Using super strength is cheating anyway."
Emma laughed.

On the Road
Two men were driving down the road in an armored truck, listening to the song on the radio.
They passed by a man on a motorcycle, in black with a mask.
The man spoke through comms. "182 seconds, gentlemen."
(Song Ends)
Another man on a motorcycle followed the first one toward the armored truck.
The guard in the armored truck looked at the driver. "Heads up. I think we got something." The two men on the bikes drove on either side of the truck. A semi backed toward the armored truck, so that the two men on the bikes could hook wires to the armored truck, making the truck start to tip. "2-11, 2-11, we are being robbed."
They forced the armored truck to pull over, pulling the two men inside outside, knocking them out.
One of the robbers aimed his gun at them.
"Hey, cool it," Robber 1 told him. "158 seconds to go."
Robber 1 used a cooling fog to spray over the back door of the armored truck so they could break it down.
⚡
STAR Labs - Cortex
Logan and Cisco were still playing ping pong. Barry and Wells were still playing chess. Aurora, Caitlin, Emma and Vera were still playing Operation, poker.
Wells finished his move at chess. "Checkmate."
Barry frowned. "Wait. Checkmate?"
"Checkmate," Wells answered. "I guess we still have a few things left to learn, don't we, Mr. Allen?"
The computer screen on the wall started to ping.
"Armed robbery at Fourth and Kolins," Cisco told them.
Aurora stood. "For the record, I crushed it in Operation. Logan won at ping pong, and Vera won at poker."
"Poker's a hard game to master," Emma told them. "And Vera's had no life and a ton of free time to master it."
Vera scoffed at the teasing remark. "Thanks, Emma."
Emma smiled.
Barry and Logan smirked.
Caitlin raised her hand. "And, by the way, Operation is harder than it looks."
Barry, Logan, Vera and Aurora walked away to get suited up.
⚡
Logan / Guardian:
Aurora / Glacia:
Road
Vera/Pyra used fire to fly herself and Aurora/Glacia to the robbery, seeing one of the robbers on the side of the truck. Aurora, still in the air with Vera, shot ice from her hands toward the robbers to make him slip off the truck to the ground.
Barry/Flash zoomed himself and Logan/Guardian closer. Logan grabbed another guy by motorcycles that were blocking off the road, turning around, using super strength to throw him into the field, but not to the point where he seriously hurt him.
Vera used fire to fly toward a robber, shooting fire at the concrete in front of his feet to make him back away toward the truck, pushing his head against the truck to make him fall unconscious, turning to push him to safety in the field.
Barry zoomed toward a fourth robber from the back of the armored car, toward the field, tossing him down next to the other three, punching him in the head, knocking him out without hurting him.
One of the robbers lost his mask, allowing them to see his face.
Barry zoomed toward the shot guard on the ground, speaking to Emma through the mics. "Emma, where's the nearest hospital?"
"St. Andrews," Emma answered. "Seven blocks north, two east."
"Call the ER," Barry told her. "Tell them they have an incoming GSW."
Barry grabbed the guard, zooming him away to the hospital.
Police cars sped closer, sirens blaring.
The four robbers started to run away toward their bikes. Aurora use ice to build a wall high enough to block their path, making them stop. Logan handcuffed them to a nearby pole for the cops.
Vera looked around, seeing that the robber that had lost his mask, the first one who had been calling the shots, had gotten away, and they couldn't see where he had gotten off to, like they had found a place to hide through an underground entrance.
⚡
Later
The road was now a crime scene.
"Let's go," David told them. "I want this locked up all the way to the end of the block."
Eddie walked toward Joe. "Tow truck was stolen. Driver of the armored car is in a stable condition at St. Andrews, and no one's exactly sure how he got there."
"Did you check the security cameras?" Joe asked.
"Camera's storage drive was stolen," Eddie explained. "Guys are pros."
Joe stepped off the truck. "Everything's still here, including what I think they were after, the Kahndaq Dynasty diamond. It was on its way to Central City Museum for exhibition."
Eddie nodded in remembrance. "Right, Iris is trying to talk me into going." Joe stopped walking. "I'm not much of a museum guy, but when she really wants to do something..." Joe was giving him a hard look. "I'm just going to walk away now."
Eddie walked away.
Barry arrived to the crime scene. "Sorry, Captain, I was at the hospital, visiting a friend."
"There's nothing missing," Joe told them. "It looks like someone interrupted a robbery."
"Guard says there were four robbers," David told them.
"Actually, there was five," Barry told them. "I mean, that's how many I would bring if I were doing a robbery of this nature. That's definitely a five guy truck. A driver, three more to cover the guards, and somebody used liquid nitrogen to crack open this door, so five bad guys."
"Thank you, Mr. Allen, for your brilliant insight," David told him, walking away.
Joe looked at Barry. "For somebody so fast, you're a little slow on the improvising. Did you, Vera, Aurora or Logan see anything that could help us catch these guys?"
Barry nodded. "Yeah, one of them lost his mask. We saw his face."
They smiled.
⚡
Central City Police Department
Emma, Joe and Barry walked down the stairs.
Barry was looking through a book.
"So look through these mug shots of Central City's most wanted, and see if you can find our guy," Joe told him.
Barry used his speed to look through the mugshots, finding the right one, pointing at the picture. "That's him."
Joe was impressed with how fast he figured it out. "Damn." He took the book to see who he pointed at, frustrated. "Leonard Snart."
"Leonard?" Barry repeated. "That's almost as bad as Bartholomew."
"Snart ain't sexy, either," Emma told him. She looked at Joe. "Wasn't Snart's father was a cop?"
Joe nodded. "Yeah, a bad cop. Took his anger out on his kids until he went to prison."
"Snart's dad is in prison, too?" Barry asked. "We should start a club."
"He shows up, like, every six months," Joe explained. "He cases a job for weeks before he makes his move. Then he does the job, gets away."
"That's before the heroes popped up," Emma told him.
Iris walked in with coffee. "Coffee break. Thought I would bring Central City's finest java over to Central City's finest."
Barry and Emma smiled, taking their coffees.
Joe shook his head. "Thanks, I'm off caffeine."
Joe walked away.
Iris sighed. "Dad's been mad at me ever since I told him about me and Eddie."
"No, you mean he'd mad at you because you didn't tell him," Emma told her.
"Uh, first, that sounds like you're taking his side," Iris told her. "And second, do you know this 'I'm not talking to you, but I have a whole bag full of judgmental looks I'm gonna try out on you later'?"
"Yeah, I've been on the receiving end of those a few times," Barry told them.
"Me, too," Emma told them.
"Speaking of communications, or lack thereof, after all these journalism classes, I got an idea," Iris told them.
"Huh?" Emma asked.
"I started a blog," Iris told them.
"All right, what's it about?" Emma asked. "Your brownie obsession? 'Cause, you know, you probably shouldn't broadcast that."
Iris rolled her eyes. "No, Emma, something important. Something that Central City needs to know about. The heroes. They're out there, Barry. Rumor has it, they stopped an armored car robbery earlier. I was hoping that I could take a look at the file, and..."
"What?" Barry asked. "I'm not at liberty to discuss an ongoing police investigating with you."
Emma chuckled. "Since when, Mr. Blabbermouth?"
They walked along.
"Take it from someone who's been investigating the impossible since they were 11," Barry told them. "Blogging about this is only gonna bring the crazies to your front door."
"My blog is anonymous," Iris told them.
"All right, well, anonymous or not, it's not safe," Emma told her. "You never know what kind of weirdos are out there trolling on the Internet. The Internet is full of weirdos and nerd rage. Lots and lots of nerd rage."

Warehouse
Snart was meeting with three men.
"There's been some rumors the last few months," Man 1 told them. "People seeing a girl of ice, a man with superhuman strength, a red blur tearing through the streets, and a girl on fire soaring through the skies. What the hell are they, man?"
"When I was a kid, my grandfather used to take my sister and me to this diner, the Motorcar," Snart explained. "Food was for crap, but the view was great, right across from the Central City precinct. I still go there. I listen to their radios. I learn their response times. There are 40 banks in Central City, each of them within 60 seconds of police response. That's the advantage of hitting a moving target. Once the armored car called 911, we had 182 seconds before any cop could be on the scene. No one could have gotten there fast enough to stop us. But somethings did, and you lost your cool. You know the rules. We don't shoot guards or cops unless it's the only option. We don't need the heat."
"The heat?" Man 1 repeated. "What the hell do you think these things are, Snart? Right. Screw this. Screw you. I'm out."
Man 1 turned to leave.
Snart shot him down to the ground. "Well, if you're out, you're out. These things are people. We're gonna have to up our game."

Park
Aurora and Felicity Smoak were walking together through the park.
"I can't believe you're here," Aurora told her. "What are you doing here? I mean, it's good to see you, but do you, Oliver and Jill need something? Or Skylar after she was cured from Mirakuru? Or Amy?"
"No, they're fine," Felicity answered.
Aurora nodded. "Or is it Justin, because of his heart condition?"
"No, no," Felicity answered. "Justin's fine. He's actually giving this thing he has with Skylar a real chance, so he's good. I mean, he was caught in an explosion a little while back, but he's still going strong."
"You know, I know I said this before, but I could come up with something medical to help Justin," Aurora told her. "It could be like his heart condition doesn't even exist."
"That would be amazing," Felicity told her. "And so incredibly worry-relieving. I'm always worried he's gonna get himself killed."
Aurora smiled. "Justin's strong, Felicity. Stronger than most people. But I can help make sure that nothing happens to him."
"Thank you so much," Felicity told her. "But that's not why I'm here. I came because I wanted to see you, check up on you and Barry. You know, he's awake, and so is that other girl you were telling me about. Vera."
"Yeah," Aurora agreed. "You already know that Logan and I have powers because we helped Team Sapphire Arrow with the Mirakuru soldiers that night, with the help of Nyssa al Ghul, Raven Evangeline, and Kira and Karma Mahageni."
"Right," Felicity agreed. "And you both got that from injuries on the night of the particle accelerator explosion. And since Barry and Vera were in comas because of their injuries from that night, I'm guessing that they somehow got powers, too?"
Aurora chuckled, tilting her head. "Yeah, you could say that. You wanna see where we work?"
Felicity nodded.
Felicity and Aurora smiled, walking away toward STAR Labs.
⚡ Worlds Colliding (The Flash) ⚡
STAR Labs - Cortex
Barry, Emma and Logan were in the Cortex at the computers.
Aurora led Felicity inside. "And this is where our team monitors the police bands for criminal activity. We can track anything that's happening in this city."
Emma smiled. "Yeah, we even got our own satellite."
Felicity looked around. "I know." Cisco, Caitlin and Vera walked closer. "I've hacked into it from time to time."
"Rude," Barry told her.
Emma and Felicity smiled, hugging for a moment, pulling away.
"It is, of course, so wonderful to see you again, Felicity," Emma told her.
"You, too, Emma," Felicity told her. "And Barry and Logan."
Barry and Logan each gave Felicity a handshake.
"I'm just wondering how much of our operation she needs to know about," Caitlin told them.
"I'm really good at keeping secrets," Felicity told them.
"Felicity works for Sapphire and Arrow," Barry told them. "So she gets to team up with Athena and Ruby and all them."
Cisco smiled. "Sweet."
Felicity gave Barry a halfhearted look. "And, you, apparently, are not." She looked at Vera. "Hi. You I have not met." She held a hand toward Vera. "Felicity Smoak."
Vera shook her hand. "Vera Mitchell. Nice to meet you."
Felicity smiled. "Hi."
Cisco walked closer, looking at Felicity. "Now it's all making sense. You know who Sapphire, Arrow, Athena and Ruby are." He looked at Barry, Aurora and Logan. "Wait. Do you three know who Sapphire, Arrow, Athena and Ruby are?"
Logan pretended to be confused. "Uh..." He shook his head. "No."
Barry and Aurora smiled, shaking their heads.
"Let's just say that my team has a similar setup, but with more pointy objects," Felicity told them.
Wells rolled inside. "Welcome, Miss Smoak."
"Dr. Wells?" Felicity asked. "The Dr. Wells?"
"Please call me Harrison, Felicity," Wells told her.
"You know who I am?" Felicity asked.
Wells rolled closer. "Ranked second in the National Informative Technology competition at age 19. Graduated MIT with master's degree in cyber security and computer sciences. I know who you are. I keep an eye out for promising talent in scientific fields. That's what brought me Emma, Logan, Aurora, Cisco and Caitlin." Cisco smiled, waving his eyebrows, taking a bite of a Twizzler. "And I foresaw... great things from you."
Felicity smiled.
"Speaking of great things... wanna see something cool?" Barry asked.
Felicity nodded.
⚡
Training Room
Felicity, Aurora, Caitlin, Cisco, Emma, Logan, Vera and Wells were in the room adjoining to the training room, where Barry was zooming on the treadmill.
"How fast can he run?" Felicity asked.
"He hasn't reached his top speed yet, theoretically speaking," Wells told them. "We haven't fully discovered the limits or the extent of their powers."
Felicity looked at Aurora. "You are ice." She looked at Logan. "You're super strong." She looked at Vera. "And you are fire. Literally." Vera held up her hand for her to see, making flames almost like candlelight shimmer from all five of her fingers. Aurora held up her hand to show Felicity that she could trickle ice along her fingers like crystals. Felicity smiled. "That is so cool." She looked at Barry. "So, are Barry, Vera, Aurora and Logan really okay?"
"His heart rate is in normal range for him," Caitlin told them.
"No, I mean, the lightning bolt changed Barry," Felicity told them. "Just like being frozen changed Aurora, nearly being crushed to death changed Logan, and the fire changed Vera. Do any of you really know how much?"
"We know a fair amount," Cisco answered.
"If everything about him is sped up, is he gonna age faster?" Felicity asked. "What would happen if he ran too fast? Would he just be running, and then poof, he's dust in a red costume?" She looked at Vera. "And the fire is extremely cool, but what happens if your temperature gets too high? Will you actually die if you get too hot? Or what would happen if you lost control of your anger? Would it make your powers malfunction? What if Aurora became so cold that she could literally freeze herself to death? Or if Aurora and Vera came into contact with something too hot or cold for them? That would hurt them severely, I would imagine, if it didn't kill them. Or if Vera flies too high, and ended up getting into space, where there is no air at all, then that means you won't have any air to fuel fire, where you will also very likely die. Or if Logan loses his strength and something crushes down on him and he dies?"
"Everything we do here, at STAR Labs, is to protect Logan Hemmings, Aurora Swan, Barry Allen and Vera Mitchell," Wells told her. "Trust us, Felicity, we know what we're doing here."
"Wanna see how fast I can run backwards?" Barry asked, starting to run backwards, losing control, falling into the boxes meant to catch his fall.
"Don't worry," Emma told her. "They all heal quickly, too."

Joe/Eddie's Car
Eddie and Joe were staking out the museum in their car.
Eddie sighed. "Eh, I don't get it. Why would Snart come here?"
"Snart's been deterred before, but once he starts going after something, he doesn't stop until he gets it, ever," Joe answered.
Eddie hesitated. "Joe, I want you to know that I'm really serious about Iris. She's an amazing woman, and I can really see myself--"
Joe smiled fakely. "I ever tell you about that wild night I had my last day of college?"
"I don't think so," Eddie answered.
"No?" Joe asked. "Not even after we kicked back a few beers after work?"
Eddie frowned in confusion. "We've never done that."
"Oh, right," Joe said. "Those are things we I do with my friends, and since we've never done those things, we ain't friends. So there's actually no reason I need to know about your dating life."
Eddie sighed. "I just don't want my personal relationship with your daughter to affect our working relationship."
"It ain't about you, Eddie," Joe told him. "It's about her. So as long as we don't talk about you and her, we will be cool."
There was a long moment of awkward silence.
"Maybe we should just listen to the radio," Eddie told him, turning it on.
(Song:) When a Man Loves a Woman - Percy Sledge
Eddie realized that the song was only making the situation more awkward, turning the station.
(Song Ends)
(Song:) Let's Get It On - Marvin Gaye
Eddie realized that this song was also just increasing the tension between him and Joe, turning off the radio. "Quiet is good."

"Mm-hmm," Logan agreed.
They ran into Iris inside.
Iris smiled. "Hey, you two."
"Hey," Emma told her. "Uh, Iris, this is Logan from work, who I've told you about."
"Right," Iris agreed. "Oh, my God, you're the Logan that saved Emma and everyone at STAR Labs from being crushed to death the night of the particle accelerator explosion."
Logan nodded in agreement. "That is me."
"It is so good to finally officially meet you," Iris told him. "And thank you so much helping save Emma that night."
"Oh, it's no big deal," Logan told them. "I was just doing my job."
Emma looked at Iris, nodding sarcastically. "Logan's very humble."
Iris smiled. "I see that. Hey, if you two got some time, maybe I can thank you personally by showing you some of Central City's night life. You know, it saves you from another boring night at STAR Labs."
"Oh, I don't know," Logan told her. "It gets pretty exciting over there, depending on the nights."
Emma smiled.
"Oh, I don't think that you're gonna want to miss this," Iris told them, picking up a flier to show them. "Trivia night at Jitters. Eddie's not really excited about it, I admit. But it could be our night, guys."
Logan took the flier. "Our night to win $75 worth of cappuccinos?"
"Um, yum," Emma told them.
"I even invited Barry and told him to bring a friend so that we could have some backup, because the teams are six people each," Iris told them. "He told me that he was going to bring in a friend named Felicity because she's super smart, and because no one else at STAR Labs felt up to it."
"Right, yeah, Felicity, we know her from Starling City," Logan told her. "Speaking of, I'm gonna go call in work, see if everything's okay."
Logan walked away.
Iris and Emma walked toward the counter.
"What are you doing?" Emma asked.
"What do you mean?" Iris asked.
"The trivia night triple date," Emma answered.
"Because Felicity seems cool, and that guy is great, and he saved your life," Iris answered.
"Well, more than once, but that's besides the point," Emma told her.
"When did he save your life again?" Iris asked.
Emma realized her slip up, changing the subject. "Never mind. Um, you know, Logan saved the lives of Caitlin, Cisco, and Dr. Wells, too. I don't see you setting them up as a date to him."
"Yeah, well, he's the one that you talk most about from your little clique at STAR Labs," Iris replied. "Why don't you tell me more about him?"
"There's nothing to tell," Emma told her. "He's just a friend."
Iris gave her an amused look, smiling. "Emma, I see you guys going out for coffee even without your other friends more than any other friendship I have ever seen. See, this is why you need my help. You're so wrapped up in work that you wouldn't even know if you liked the guy or not. I'm setting you and Barry up with dates tonight because I want you guys to have fun and be happy for a change. Bring Logan tonight. We'll have fun."
Emma gave in, nodding. "Yeah, fun."

A man was showing a gun to Snart. "You wanted state of the art, Snart. I bring you state of the art, my good sir."
"What's this?" Snart asked.
"It might not look like much, but never judge a book by its cover, you know?" the man asked. "Fires highly concentrated, combustible liquid fuel that ignites on contact with the air. That one is for the man with strength and the girl of ice."
"What about the girl on fire and the blur?" Snart asked. "They don't need to be heated up. They need to be cooled and slowed down."
Snart opened another box with a gun.
"That's the one, then," the man told him. "You were drawn right to it. Both guns were stolen from STAR Labs after the incident, and with nothing but a skeleton security crew to guard the tech inside. This gun emits some sort of substance. I'm not sure what it is. Like a white flame, but it's not hot, it's cold."
Snart picked up a pair of glasses. "Glasses look like they're made of the same tech. What are they for?"
"The glare," the man answered. "You'll see."
Snart put the glasses on. "Who else knows you took these?"
"Just us," the man answered.
"No, just me," Snart told him. "Sorry, pal."
Snart used the cold ray gun to shoot the man down.

Emma chuckled. "No, you see, I did it because e=MC squared in Einstein's formula for kinetic energy, right? And you know, 'Can't Touch This'."
Logan chuckled, impressed. "That's great, Emma."
"Barry, where is Felicity?" Iris asked.
"I'm not sure," Barry told them. "I told her it started at--"
They looked toward the door to see Felicity walking in a sexy black cut out dress.
Eddie whispered to Iris. "Feel free to buy yourself that dress."
Felicity walked toward their table, chuckling nervously. "I totally overdressed for trivia night."
"No, you look amazing," Emma told her.
"Yeah, you do," Barry agreed.
Felicity looked at their group name, chuckling. "E=MC Hammer. That's funny."
Emma looked at them smugly. "See?"
Logan chuckled, shaking his head, taking a drink.
Iris smiled at the fact that Emma and Logan were having a good time, giving Emma an 'I told you so' look. Emma gave her a sarcastic look in return, taking a drink.

Central City Museum
A curator was leading a group through the museum. "It wasn't until 1852, when the transcontinental railroad laid their tracks through this thriving cattle town, that we became officially incorporated. That same year, the worst flood this area's ever seen hit. But from that disaster rose Central City's greatest hero, cattle rancher Bobby 'Bovine' McFeely. Bovine McFeely saved 17 cows from the great flood."
Snart was standing behind a little boy, holding a piece of gum toward him. "Hey, kid. Gum?"
They both started to chew gum.
The curator led the group toward the diamond Joe had been talking about. "And now, for the exhibit I'm sure you've all come here to see, the historic Kahndaq Dynasty Diamond. Be careful. Get too close and you'll set off the proximity alarms."
Snart looked at the boy. "Wouldn't want to do that."
They walked along.

There were cheers and applause.
Iris smiled. "I knew you guys would make good teams."

"I work in computer sciences at Queen Consolidated," Felicity answered.
"Really?" Eddie asked.
"Do you have a boyfriend in Starling City?" Iris asked.
Felicity shook her head. "Uh, no, there is no one."
"I'll get us more drinks," Eddie told them, standing, walking toward the counter.
"I'll help," Logan told them, walking away to get more drinks.
"And I had too many of those first ones, so I will be right back," Felicity told them, walking away toward the restrooms.
Iris smiled at Barry and Emma.
"What?" Barry asked.
Iris laughed, pushing Barry in the shoulder playfully. "Dude!"
"Dude?" Barry repeated in amusement.
Iris looked at Emma, laughing. "Emma, are you still gonna tell me that Logan's not into you? Oh, and Barry, Felicity's into you. Look at that dress. And when I asked her that boyfriend question, she froze."
"Yeah, you were particularly sly with that one," Barry told her sarcastically.
"Logan and Felicity are both smart, nice and good looking," Iris told them. She looked at Emma. "And most importantly, Logan is the first boy that I have seen you with that really understands and appreciates you for the amazing person that I am always telling you that you are. He's perfect for you, so what are you waiting for, Emma?"
Emma smiled, shaking her head. "I'm not sure."
Barry chuckled.

"How long have they been missing?" Wells asked.
"I don't know," Cisco told them.
"I'm gonna ask you again, Cisco," Wells told him. "And when I do... I expect a more specific answer than 'I don't know'. Now, how long have these weapons been gone?"
"A day," Cisco answered. "Maybe two. One janitor didn't show up for work this morning. He was probably the one who took it. I didn't think that--"
Wells slammed the door angrily. "You didn't think. Because if you had, you would've discussed with me first your desire to build something that could hurt anyone."
"I'm sorry," Cisco told them. "If you just let me explain--"
"You know how I feel about weapons, Cisco," Wells told him. "They do not belong in STAR Labs. Now, you're gonna figure out a way to locate these guns, and you're gonna do it right now."
Wells rolled away, leaving.
Vera looked at Cisco. "These things you built... what can they do?"
Cisco avoided eye contact. "Bad stuff."
"Cisco, what can it do?" Aurora asked.
Cisco hesitated. "One of them can freeze things. It's very strong. It might be strong enough to freeze you, Vera. The other is the opposite, and it can burn anything in its path. Including you, Aurora."
Vera and Aurora sighed, looking down.

Central City Museum - Hallway
Joe and the man that had seen Snart earlier were walking together.
"You said to call if there was anything suspicious," the man told him. "This guy went through the tour twice. Nobody does that."
Joe spoke into his radio. "This is Detective West. I have a visual on Leonard Snart at the museum."

They heard Joe's voice. "Requesting immediate backup."

Iris, Eddie, Emma, Logan, Barry and Felicity were sitting at their table.
Eddie got the answer to a question wrong. "I'm sorry, I thought I knew it. And I got excited, and I--I just hit it."
Barry shrugged. "No, I mean, maybe they'll get it wrong, too."
Emma nodded sarcastically. "Oh, yeah, I am sure that the team named Pride and Padawans doesn't know the name of Han Solo's ship."
They looked toward that team, seeing they were dressed up like Han Solo, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, and R2-D2, who got the question right and cheered.
Iris turned Eddie's head to look at her adoringly. "Oh, honey, you are so cute when you're confused."
They kissed, smiling.

Vera/Pyra was using fire to fly through the skies, taking Aurora/Glacia with her to the museum.
⚡
Central City Museum
Joe was chasing Snart through the museum.
Snart shot his cold ray gun at Joe. Vera and Aurora arrived just in time. Vera shot fire at the cold ray. When the cold ray turned the fire into a chunk of ice, making it fall to the ground.
Vera sighed. "Oh, great. Glacia, you're up."
Snart smirked. "Time for a test run."
Snart fired toward Joe and Vera.
Vera ran toward Joe, tackling him out of the way, making them both roll out of the way. The cold ray hit Vera's stomach.
Vera breathed heavily, holding her side in pain at the cold that felt surreal.
Aurora looked at Vera worriedly. "You okay?"
Vera sighed. "It's so cold it burns."
Snart fired the cold ray gun at a couple on the stairs. Aurora shot ice in the way of them to use it as a shield to save them. The cold ray and the ice clinked together as they both fell to the floor, shattering over the tile.
The couple ducked against the railing, panicking, running out of view and into safety.
Snart turned around to see a man walking into the room, completely oblivious, shooting the cold gun toward him.
Vera used fire to fly closer, using the fire as a shield against the cold ray, using a constant, strong stream of fire to use as a shield, using it to keep the cold ray back. The cold ray ate away at the fire, making it turn into ice, but the more Vera used fire, the more she could keep the cold ray back. The man ran away, leaving. Aurora stood next to Vera, using fire in a long steady stream next to her stream of fire. They used their streams of fire and ice to push the cold ray and Snart back, the force of it enough to make Snart fall to the floor.
Snart also had the heat ray gun that he had gotten, using it to shoot Aurora, burning her enough to where she had to fall to the floor. He shot the cold ray gun at the man behind Vera.
Vera tried to use fire as a shield. The movement cause a lot of pain, almost agony from the cold ray touching her again, because she had used the constant stream of fire that had never left contact of her skin instead of the fire blasts. The fire that she tried to use was only a few sparks that she couldn't use to protect the man several feet behind her.
The cold ray blast hit the man, freezing him entirely, everything, killing him. The block of ice that had used to be a man fell dead to the floor.
Vera and Aurora knelt next to him in guilt.
Vera was trying to use fire to melt the ice around him, but the ice only caused her pain to where she couldn't use fire at all.
And Snart had gotten away.

STAR Labs - Cortex
Aurora and Vera were in normal clothes again, healing from the fight with the heat and cold ray guns. Caitlin, Cisco, Logan, Emma, Barry, Felicity and Wells were there with them. While Aurora had a burn on her skin, Vera had a frostbite in her side.
"This is still numb," Vera told them.
"This still burns," Aurora told them.
"They're like third-degree frostbite and burns," Caitlin explained.
"I thought they had hyper-healing," Felicity told them.
"The cold ray blast was like ice," Vera told them. "It was so cold... It turned my fire blasts into blocks of ice."
"The heat ray gun was like pure fire," Aurora told them. "It felt like it was going to eat me alive."
Felicity pointed at Wells. "See? Told you. Cold kills Vera, and heat kills Aurora."
Caitlin walked around Vera and Aurora. "If your cells weren't regenerating at the rate they are... your blood vessels would've frozen or burned solid. The nerve damage would've been permanent. Felicity's right. The cold and heat guns could've killed you."
"Snart wasn't another metahuman," Barry told them. "Why would he need the guns if he was?"
"According to his records, Snart didn't even finish high school," Emma told them. "So how did he build a handheld, high-tech snow machine?"
"STAR Labs built the cold and heat guns," Wells told them.
"Dr. Wells, Emma, Logan, Aurora and Caitlin had nothing to do with this," Cisco told them. "I built the gun."
"You did?" Logan asked. "Why?"
"Because fire and ice are opposites," Cisco answered. "So are speed and cold. Temperature is measured by how quickly the atoms of something are oscillating. Faster they are, the hotter it is. When things are cold, they're slower on the atomic level. When there's no movement, it's called--"
"Absolute zero," Aurora finished.
Cisco nodded. "Yeah. I designed to compact cryo-engine to achieve absolute zero, to achieve any temperature of heat or fire. I knew that Aurora and Logan wouldn't have done something bad because we have known them for years." He looked from Barry to Vera. "But I built them to stop the two of you. I didn't know who you were then, guys." Vera looked down, more hurt than she could've thought possible, standing, turning away. "I mean, what if you turned out to be some psychos, like Mardon or Nimbus?"
Vera turned to face Cisco angrily. "But we didn't, did we?"
"We built the entire structure you're standing in to do good, and it blew up," Caitlin told them. "You can understand why Cisco would wanna be prepared for the worst."
"I can understand that," Barry told him. "But what I can't understand is why you didn't tell us what you did. After all we've been through, I thought you trusted me, and trusted Vera. I thought we were friends."
"We are, Barry," Cisco told him.
"If you had just told us, we could've been prepared," Aurora told him. "But a man died tonight."
Cisco sighed guiltily, nodding. "And I have to live with that."
Logan shook his head. "No, Cisco, we all do."
Vera shook her head, still more hurt than angry but understanding why he did it, walking out, leaving.

Night - West House - Living Room
Iris was sitting in the living room on the couch, watching TV.
Joe and Emma walked in.
Iris turned to them. "The news. Are you okay?"
"I'm fine," Joe answered.
Iris sighed. "How long is this gonna go on? Seems like the cold treatment is going around."
Emma was not in the mood for this fight, sighing. "Not now, Iris, please."
"Yes, Emma, now," Iris told her. "Dad did the same thing when we both tried to sign up for the police academy without telling him. He didn't speak to either of us for weeks, not until we withdrew our applications." She stood. "Well, I am not withdrawing this time, Dad. I am dating Eddie whether you like it or not."
"Eddie's my partner," Joe told her.
"We know," Emma told him.
"But you don't," Joe told them. "You're not cops. You don't know what having a partner means. Wherever I go, he goes, and where I go isn't always safe. I need to be 100% focused. Now, there's a part of me that isn't focused, that doesn't see Eddie as my partner, but as your boyfriend, Iris. So if he gets hurt or worse, and I'm there, how am I gonna look at you? How are you gonna look at me? Now, I'm not mad at you, but that's why this is so hard for me. Do you understand?"
Iris and Emma nodded.

Snart was talking to a few men. "We're going back tonight."
"Back where?" Man 1 asked.
"To the museum," Snart answered. "That diamond isn't going to steal itself."
"Super gun freeze your brain, Snart?" Man 2 asked. "The museum's gonna be crawling with police by now, and those freaks."
Snart showed them the guns. "These can stop them. It hurt those two girls, of fire and ice. And I know their real weakness. So we go, unless you want out."
The two men stopped walking, pulling their guns on Snart.
"We both want out, alive," Man 1 told him.
"So you thought ahead and made a plan," Snart told them. "Least I taught you something. So what are you waiting for? Shoot me. You better put a bullet in my brain right now, because if you don't, if I ever see either one of you again--"
"You don't get it, do you?" Man 1 asked. "These people are out there, and Central City ain't your playground anymore."
The two men walked away quickly.
Snart looked at the cold ray gun in his hands. "Sure it is."

Ferris Air Landing Strip
Vera went to the abandoned airplane landing strip that they had been the first time she had tested out her powers, practicing throwing flames at the targets that could withstand the heat and the fire, repeatedly, unable to stop, sometimes one right after another, working off the anger.
Barry walked closer. "Thought I'd find you here." Vera didn't answer, throwing another blast of fire at another target. The fire dissipated around the target. "Vera." Vera ignored him, looking at her arm in front of her, making it turn into a fist of flames, throwing it at another target. The target shook until it fell over with the force of the flames. The fire dissipated into nothing. Vera focused on the next target. Barry grabbed her arm to stop her. "Hey. What are you doing?"
Vera turned to face Barry. "You should go home. Get some sleep."
"You should, too," Barry told her. He realized what he said, shaking his head. "Not go to my home, I meant go to yours and get some sleep."
Vera sighed, walking toward a bench at least a yard away, sitting down. "I can't." Barry zoomed closer, sitting next to her. "Every time I close my eyes, I see that man's face. I watched him die." Vera shook her head. "I couldn't use fire. The cold... it was agonizing enough to where I couldn't save him."
"Vera, it's not your fault," Barry told her. "And it's not Cisco's either. I know you're upset, but you have to look at this from his point of view."
"No, I get it," Vera told him. "He didn't trust me. He didn't trust you, either. He trusted Aurora and Logan, though. Though one of his weapons that he built can kill them, too. Both weapons can kill you and Logan."
"Vera, we were all thrown together practically overnight," Barry told her. "Well, you were thrown to us overnight after you woke up. I got to know these guys for five months. And it took a lot more than watching them do the salmon ladder for me to trust them. But I do trust them. And I don't regret trusting them for a second." Vera sighed, looking down. "I've seen firsthand what this life can do to people. It's a lonely path. And you've already endured a lonely enough life as it is. Don't make it any lonelier than it has to be."
Barry stood, zooming away to leave Vera alone to think about what he had said.
Vera looked down, gazing off, not knowing what to do yet.

"I figured out a way to track Captain Cold," Cisco told them.
Vera sighed. "You gotta stop naming these guys."
"Vera, listen to him," Wells told her.
Vera turned to face them. "How?"
"The guns are powered by an engine-control unit," Cisco told them. "A microcomputer that regulates air to fuel ratio so the sub-cooled fluid in the chambers don't overflow and--"
"Explode," Emma finished.
Cisco pointed at Emma. "Right."
Cisco walked around the table that Wells, Emma and Caitlin were sitting at toward Aurora, Logan and Barry.
Emma was typing at the computer. "This ECU was receiving updates wirelessly from my tablet. If I boost the signal using Central City's network, and send a false update, we'll get a ping back and then--"
"We can locate Snart," Aurora finished.
"How long will it take?" Logan asked.
"Uh, first, I have to hack into the city's network," Cisco told them. "So, 30 minutes, maybe?"
"I can do it in less than one," Emma told them, still typing. "When it comes to hacking, I'm the fastest woman alive." She linked her fingers, turning to pop her fingers in one movement, hurting herself. "Ah! That was not as badass as I pictured." She started typing. "All right, I'm in."
"Are you kidding?" Felicity asked. "I'm a fast hacker, but that was incredible."
Emma smiled. "Thank you."
"All right, I'm sending the updates," Cisco told them. "We're connected."
"Network is triangulating the location," Felicity told them.
"We got him," Emma told them. "He's heading west on Nelson toward the train station."
"If he's leaving, it appears Mr. Snart may have gotten what he came for," Caitlin told them.
Barry zoomed to change into his suit.
Emma smiled. "When we put our minds to it, nothing can stop us."
Vera, Aurora and Logan turned to get suited up.

Train Station - Outside
Eddie, Joe and a few other cops were arriving to the train station, running toward the building.
Eddie smirked. "We got Snart."
"Wait here for backup," Joe told him.
"Wait for backup?" Eddie repeated. "No way."
"That's an order," Joe told him, running inside.
Eddie frowned.
⚡
Inside
Joe ran up to Snart, trying to shoot him. Snart ducked, trying to shoot Joe with the cold gun. Eddie ran closer, shooting Snart in the arm, making him run before they could catch him.
Eddie looked at Joe. "I'm your partner, not your assistant."
Joe smirked, impressed.
Snart got away onto a train.
⚡
Train
Vera/Pyra used fire to fly into the train, finding Snart. Snart aimed the cold gun at Vera, shooting. Vera shot fire at the cold ray as a shield. The cold ray turned the fire into a chunk of ice, making it fall. Barry/Flash, Aurora/Glacia and Logan/Guardian were with her.
"There's nowhere to run," Logan told him.
"I didn't see you before," Snart told them. "Your moms know you're out past your bedtime?"
"If you wanted to get away, you should've taken something faster than a train," Aurora told him.
"That's if I wanted to get away," Snart told them. "I've seen your weakness. At the armored car, then at the museum. So while you're busy saving everybody, I'll be saving myself."
Snart shot a hole into the train floor to the wheels, making them freeze and cause the train to malfunction and slide and glide all over the place.
The passengers screamed in panic and fear.
Barry looked at Vera and Aurora. "I'll get them off. Guardian, stop the train. Go."
⚡
Outside
Vera used fire to fly Logan out in front of the train so that he could steady himself on the tracks and use his super strength to slow the train down, though the train steadily pushed him down the tracks, but it didn't hurt him. He was trying to make it stop before everyone got hurt. In case that didn't work, Barry was zooming the passengers off the train to save them.
Vera and Aurora once again confronted Snart. Snart fired the cold ray gun at Vera. Vera retracted the fire instantly to stop him from turning it into ice, making herself fall out of reach of the cold ray before she got hit, rolling over the ground to a crouch, just in time to get a cold ray blast in her stomach, the agonizing cold making her scream in pain as it started to spread over her body. The natural heat of her body was the only thing that was holding it off.
"Pretty good, kid," Snart told her. "But not good enough."
⚡⚡
Logan was able to bring the train to a stop before Barry got everyone off, before the train could crash, keeping everyone that was inside safe.
Bits and pieces of the area were on fire.
The cold ray blast was still eating away at Vera.
Aurora was drawing the ice from the cold ray on Vera into herself to try to help her heal.
"Thank you," Snart told them.
"For what?" Aurora asked.
"You forced me to up my game," Snart answered. "Not only with this gun, and the other one, but with how I think about a job. It's been educational."
Aurora stood, turning to shoot ice toward Snart. Snart ducked, trying to shoot Aurora with the cold gun. Aurora used ice as a shield, the cold ray making the ice shatter and fall to the ground.
Barry zoomed toward Snart, pushing him toward Logan. Logan used his super strength to punch Snart, pushing him back into a piece of the crashed train, making him fall to the ground and drop the gun.
Barry turned to Vera worriedly. "Vera?"
"Fire," Vera told him. "I need... fire."
Barry zoomed Vera to a piece of the train tracks that were on fire.
Vera put her hand in the flames, absorbing the fire into power. It was already taking the pain and ice away. Vera pulled herself completely into the flames to melt the rest of the ice. Vera breathed heavily in relief once it was gone and once she was good.
Snart was able to shoot Logan, Aurora and Barry with both the cold gun and heat gun before they could recover, making them fall to the ground and make his get away.
Vera, now mostly recovered, crawled over to Logan, Aurora and Barry, using fire to melt the ice off of Logan and Barry, saving them. Aurora was still a little burned from the heat gun, groaning in agony. Vera was still in pain from the cold gun, both girls a little worse off than the boys because this was the second time that they had gotten hurt from the guns in just that day.
"Barry, we gotta get them back to STAR Labs," Logan told him.
Barry nodded. "Yeah."
Logan and Barry helped Aurora and Vera up, taking them away from the tracks.

Vera nodded. "We'll find him, Emma." She looked at Cisco. "Together."
Cisco was slightly surprised. "You're not mad?"
"I was," Vera answered. She looked at Barry. "But someone reminded me that I'm still here because I didn't wanna be alone anymore." Barry smiled a small smile. Vera looked at Cisco. "And I understand why you did what you did. And I don't blame you."
Cisco smiled.
"You have a great team here, guys," Felicity told them. "Speaking of teams, I should probably get back to mine."
"It's nice meeting you, Miss Smoak," Wells told her. "Please extend a hello to Sapphire and Arrow for us. And Athena and Ruby."
"I will," Felicity told them.
Aurora smiled, stepping closer. "Bye, Felicity."
Felicity smiled. "Bye, Aurora."
They embraced, pulling away.
Felicity walked out, leaving.
"Remarkable young woman," Wells told them. "She's special."
Barry nodded in agreement. "Yeah, she is."
They all headed their separate ways.
"Cisco, don't you ever do anything like that again," Wells told him. "Do you understand me?"
Cisco was nervous to see a subtly angry Wells. "Yes, sir."

"We are looking for you," Emma told him. "I wanted to see our dad."
"And I came to apologize, again," Iris told him.
Joe chuckled. "You're really trying to hit that magic number, aren't you?"
Iris sighed. "Look, Dad, I just want you to know that there is nothing that you could do that would ever change the way that I look at you. And I'm sorry. I should've thought about how it would affect you if Eddie and I..."
"Listen, chasing down this Snart character tonight?" Joe asked. "He had the draw on me. Eddie saved my life. Maybe I underestimated him."
"From now on, no more secrets," Iris told them.
Emma, Joe and Iris embraced.
Emma looked guilty because she wanted to tell Iris the truth about everything else but Joe wanted her in the dark to protect her. "No more secrets." They pulled away. Emma gave Iris a teasing look. "Well, go see Eddie. Thank him for watching out for our dad."
Iris smiled. "Okay, only if you actually give this flirting thing you have with Logan a shot."
Emma chuckled. "That reminds me, I'm supposed to meet Logan at Jitters for late night coffee and ice cream."
Iris smiled. "Well, go."
Emma smiled. "Okay."
Iris walked toward Eddie, where they embraced.
Emma walked out of the station.
Joe smiled at the fact that both his daughters could be happy.

"It's fine, seriously," Logan told her. "I found a better family in the way of being in the team."
Emma smiled. "I like the sound of that."
"Yeah, apparently your sister does, too," Logan told her.
Emma chuckled. "Yeah, Iris was not subtle about any of the date stuff, was she?"
"Not at all," Logan answered. "But she was right about one thing."
"What's that?" Emma asked.
Logan considered the right way to say this. "Admitting to someone that you've liked for a while, even if you're our age, is still a little..."
"Nerve wracking?" Emma finished.
Logan nodded, chuckling. "Yeah. I wanted to say something for a while, but I was worried that it would change everything."
"Well, it will," Emma told him. "But it doesn't mean that it has to be a bad thing. It might actually be a good thing. But... just to make sure... we could take things slow."
Logan nodded. "Yeah. I'm okay with that."
"Good," Emma told him.
