chapter 18 - The Memory Remains

THEN

From 12.06 "Celebrating the Life of Asa Fox", in flashback, Mary shot the Werewolf dead.

From 12.14 "The Raid", in the temporary base, Mary decapitated a Vampire.

Ketch: (voice over from 12.17 The British Invasion) "Mrs. Winchester."

From 12.13 "Family Feud", in the garage, Mary used the device to kill the Rougarou.

Ketch: (voice over from 12.17 The British Invasion) "I believe you're drawn to danger."

From 12.17 "The British Invasion", in the kitchen of the Bunker, the family minus Octavia was talking with Brandon and Mick.

"Have you talked to Grandma lately?" Ariel asked.

"Oh, shouldn't worry about Mary," Mick told them. "Her and Ketch make quite the team."

From 12.17 "The British Invasion", in the motel room, Ketch was in bed, under the sheets. Mary was getting dressed.

Sam: (voice over from 12.17 The British Invasion) "Would you want your mom working with him?"

From 12.17 "The British Invasion", in the Bunker, Catty wrapped an arm around Sabrina worriedly in concern. "Levi's going to be fine." She looked at Sam, Ariel and Faith. "And we're gonna find Ava."

Castiel nodded in agreement, sadly. "We have to."

From 12.17 "The British Invasion", in Octavia's cell, Octavia was chained to the chair with Enochian warded chains, being tortured, while they were trying to rewire her brain, having Enochian warded wires in her skull.

"With the spell we're concocting with the Angels' brainwashing of you, we'll be able to rewire your thoughts and feelings, into ours," Hess told her.

"How do you know that Sabrina, Ariel and Faith won't just heal me from the damage that you do to me, once they, Sam, Dean, Ness, Amara, Catty, Cas and Levi find me?" Octavia asked.

"Because with this spell, if Sabrina, Ariel and Faith try to heal you, or Castiel and Levi, they'll only damage your mind further than what it will already be," Ketch answered. "It will make the brainwashing, the anger, whatever fire you feel inside, all the more worse, and they may never see their precious Ava again."

Ketch opened the door to let Mick in.

"What the bloody hell is this?" Mick asked.

"I've been tasked by the other elders to fix this rapidly deteriorating situation," Hess told him.

"Why are you doing this?" Mick asked.

"These hunters are out of control," Hess answered.

"This time, we have the help of Angels," Ketch told them. "Because they want the power of Sabrina, Ariel and Faith."

"So, once Octavia is ready to be used to control Sabrina, Ariel and Faith Winchester, Amara Winchester will be killed in accordance with the Code," Hess told them. "As for Sam, Dean, Ness and Catty, like any rebellious hunter, they will be executed."

Mick walked toward Octavia to try to set her free.

Octavia looked behind him. "Mick!" Ketch shot Mick in the back of the head. Mick died instantly, falling to the floor in front of Ava. "It's not enough that you just killed Brandon's father? Now you want to kill him?"

"Brandon will not know, and he will not be able to tell the Winchesters," Ketch told them. "And he will not know that he's next on our list to kill."

"Just let him go," Octavia told him.

Hess looked at Octavia. "I want you to exterminate them. Every. last. one. The Angels will have you use Sabrina, Ariel and Faith for their purposes. We will use you for this. And the sooner you submit, the less painful it will all be."

Day One

Night - Woods

(Song:) Prohibition (4th Amendment) - Bongzilla

A group of young people were partying around a campfire. Two boys were sitting apart from the rest of the romantically engaged couples. The boys were named Jarrod and Daryn.

"Yeah, I think I'm gonna go," Jarrod told him.

"What?" Daryn asked.

"I got work tomorrow, so..." Jarrod trailed off.

"Nah, dude," Daryn told him. "Stick around. Have another beer." He looked at the couples kissing, smiling. "Enjoy the show."

"You know you're a freak, right?" Jarrod asked.

"Oh, yeah," Daryn answered, toasting and clinking his beer.

"Cheers, bud," Jarrod told him. They drank. Jarrod stood, walking alone through the woods when he heard a strange noise, noticing a backpack with a glow stick attached to it abandoned by a tree. The bag was filled with money. Jarrod walked over to pick it up, triggering a trap that bound him to the tree. He started to call out, thinking it was a prank. "Hey.  Oh, man. Dude. Daryn! What is this, man? Hey, real funny, Daryn! Ha ha. Hey! Daryn?" Daryn went to investigate his friend's shouts. We saw through the eyeholes of a mask as a creature approached and bludgeoned Jarrod unconscious. "No, no, no, no, no."

Daryn ran away, having witnessed the whole thing.

Day Two

Morning - The Bunker - Library

Dean, Ness, Amara and Aiden were sitting at one table. Catty and Sam were sitting at the other. Castiel, Sabrina, Ariel and Faith walked in.

Aiden slid down from his chair to the floor to start walking. Amara saw that Aiden was getting better at toddling, taking him by the hands to help him walk. Aiden laughed, smiling, making them smile.

Dean looked at Castiel, Sabrina, Ariel and Faith. "Hey, guys. So, not much luck, huh?"

"We've crossed off a lot of spots on the map," Castiel told them. "Leads given to us by Levi. Narrowing down to where Ava could be."

Sam sighed worriedly. "Right."

Amara sighed. "Uncle Sam, it's Levi, Sow, Cas, Ariel and Faith. If anyone can find Aunt Ava, it's them."

Sam managed a small smile at the fact Amara was trying to reassure him. "Yeah. Thanks, Amara."

"We're gonna go look again," Sabrina told them. "Unless you guys need help?"

"No, we're good," Amara answered. "You should go."

Ariel nodded sadly. "Okay. Yeah, we'll try to find Mom."

Sam stood, walking closer. "Ariel, Faith, like Amara said. If anyone can find Ava, it's you guys."

Faith managed a small smile, nodding. "Yeah. I miss her."

They all looked at each other sadly.

"I do, too," Sam told them sadly.

Sam, Ariel and Faith embraced for a long moment, pulling away.

Catty stood, walking toward Castiel and Sabrina to embrace them, and they returned the embrace.

"Let us know if you find Ava," Ness told them. "Or, you know, anything."

Sabrina, Ariel and Faith nodded in agreement. "Yeah."

"Of course," Castiel told them.

Catty and Castiel had a sweet, slow bye kiss for a now, pulling away, nodding to each other, managing small smiles. Sabrina, Ariel and Faith teleported away, taking Cas with them. The others were sad.

"What about you, Ness?" Catty asked. "You got anything there, reading rainbow?"

"I stayed up all night, going through every book we have on Demons," Ness told them. "And it turns out we have a lot of books on Demons."

"Anything on Dagon?" Dean asked.

"Mentions here and there, but nothing we can use," Ness answered. "I guess the, uh, Princes of Hell are pretty good at staying off the radar."

"Yeah, well, isn't that kind of their thing?" Catty asked.

Amara was cleaning a gun to give her something to do because she couldn't stop worrying about Octavia, Levi, or stop thinking about accidentally killing Renny. Her phone buzzed. She looked at the message. "Hmm. Just got a text from Brandon. It's a case."

"Good," Dean told them. "If we have to sit here waiting for news, I'm gonna lose my mind."

"Me too," Catty told them. "So what does Brandon's got?"

"Looks like a guy named Jarrod Hayes disappeared in Tomahawk, Wisconsin a week ago," Amara answered. "No witnesses. No body. But Brandon says this place has a history."

"Meaning?" Sam asked.

"Well, it means a lot of people go missing in Tomahawk," Amara answered. "One a year, every year from 1898 to 1997, and then nothing until now."

"So 20 years?" Dean asked.

"Yeah," Ness answered. "So maybe they're starting up again? Maybe it's a cycle of some sort?"

"Well..." Dean trailed off, cocking his gun. "One way to find out."

Amara looked at her phone. "Brandon wants us all to meet there."

"Fine," Catty told them. "Let's see what we can see."

Amara finished cleaning her gun, pretending to take aim, winking as she made a sound as if pulling the trigger. Aiden smiled, laughing. The sound made the others feel a bit better.

Tomahawk, Wisconsin

Sheriff's Office

Sam, Dean and Catty were posing as FBI to talk to Sheriff Barrett Bishop.

Bishop was preoccupied with sewing a taxidermy animal, seeming disinterested in Jarrod's disappearance. "I'm sorry, but why the Feds interested in Jarrod Hayes?"

"Just following orders," Dean told him.

Sam cleared his throat. "Yeah. Um, so what can you tell us about the case?"

"Well, nothing much to tell," Bishop told them. "Jarrod and his friends were hanging out at Weathertop. This makeout spot the kids use out at the woods. And then he ditched his pals to hoof it home. Never made it."

"So somebody snagged him?" Catty asked.

Bishop shrugged. "Mm. Maybe."

"Maybe?" Sam repeated.

"Look, maybe Jarrod did get got," Bishop told them. "We're working every lead. But you ask me, he just bailed."

"And why would he do that?" Dean asked.

"Jarrod's had it rough," Bishop told them. "Mom left years ago. And his dad... well, let's just say Jarrod 'fell down the stairs a lot', if you know what I mean."

Dean nodded. "Mm."

"Wait a second," Sam told him. "If you knew he was being abused, why didn't you--"

"We tried," Bishop told them. "Trying to take a child from his parents, even if they're the world people in the world, not easy."

"Did you talk to his old man?" Dean asked.

"Can't," Bishop answered. "Not really. Guy stroked out a couple years ago. Breathes through a tube. Guess who gets to take care of him? Can you imagine having to spoon feed the guy that wailed on you for all those years? Everybody's got a breaking point. If Jarrod did blow town, I wouldn't blame him."

"You said that he was with friends the night Jarrod went missing," Catty told him.

"Yeah, did any of them say anything?" Sam asked.

"Nothing worth repeating," Bishop told them. He looked at the taxidermy. "Ain't he precious?"

Catty was weirded out. "Uh-huh. Any idea where we can find these friends?"

"Oh, yeah," Bishop answered. "Sure."

§

Bishop Meat Empire - Outside

Sam, Dean and Catty went to interview Daryn about Jarrod. Daryn was smoking a joint.

"Daryn Boston?" Dean asked. "Agents Stark, Martell and Snow."

Daryn sighed, dropping his joint. "Hell."

Dean picked it up. "Hey, no, it's cool. Medicinal purposes, right?"

Daryn took the joint back. "Uh... yes? Yeah."

"We just, uh, wanted to talk about the night Jarrod Hayes went missing," Sam told him.

"What about it?" Daryn asked.

"Well, the Sheriff says you were with him," Sam answered.

"Yeah, well, the Sheriff is a jackass, all right?" Daryn asked. "Look, he thinks Jarrod just skipped town."

"You don't?" Sam asked.

"I know he didn't," Daryn answered.

"Did you tell that to the cops?" Catty asked.

"Man, Sheriff Bishop's not gonna believe me," Daryn told them. "We got... history."

"History?" Catty repeated.

"Any time something happens in this town, he brings me in for questioning," Daryn explained.

"Why is that?" Sam asked.

Daryn held up his joint. "Why do you think?"

Catty nodded. "Right."

"Well, look, if you won't tell the Sheriff what you saw, how about you tell us?" Dean asked.

"Look, I ran to save Jarrod, okay?" Daryn asked. "But... The monster, it got him."

"Monster?" Sam repeated.

Daryn nodded. "Black Bill."

Diner

(Song:) Music to Watch Girls By - Tony Hatch

Sam, Dean, Catty, Ness and Amara had met up with Brandon, who was still in the dark about what really happened to Octavia and Mick. Aiden was sitting at the table as Ness was feeding him.

"Black Bill is a local urban legend," Brandon explained. "Dates back more than a hundred years. A folklore story from 1907 that mentions..." Aiden was laughing at Brandon, distracting him momentarily, but Brandon chuckled in amusement. "Uh, back then, he was called 'Black William'. So it looks like some time between then and..."

"Yeah, that's how you can tell Aiden likes you," Ness told him. "Aiden smiling or laughing at you means that you're not bad, Brandon."

Brandon nodded in amusement. "Got it."

"So, Black Bill," Ness told him. "What do you got?"

"All right, well, he lives in the woods," Brandon told them. "So he's like a local Jersey Devil. And apparently, he has the head of a goat."

"A goat?" Dean repeated. "Like..." He made a goat sound to make Aiden laugh. "Goat?"

"Yeah," Brandon answered. "A goat."

"Well, maybe that's what Daryn saw," Catty told them.

"Unless you think that he was lying," Ness told them.

"Mm, nah, I think he's a little too freaked out to be lying," Catty told them.

"So we got a, uh, goat dude, with a name like a pirate," Sam told them.

"Which is a little insane, even for us," Amara told them. "And that bar is..." She whistled, pointing at the ceiling. "Super high."

Brandon chuckled in agreement. "Yeah."

Aiden laughed, eating.

"So, if it is real, what the hell is this?" Ness asked.

"I'm not sure," Brandon told them. "I mean, there's tons of Human-animal hybrid lore dating back all the way to ancient Egypt."

"Right, well, why don't you figure out what the hell it is, and figure out a way to kill it, okay?" Amara asked.

"I already figured out a way to kill it," Ness told them.

Sam looked at her in surprise. "How did you--you don't even know what 'it' is."

Ness patted her pocket pocket where the Colt was hidden. "The Colt. Dusts anything." They chuckled. "Work smarter, Sammy, not harder."

"Right," Catty agreed.

"What about Cas, Sabrina, Ariel, Faith and Levi?" Brandon asked. "They got anything on your Ava?"

"They're still looking," Catty answered.

"If there's anything that I can help with..." Brandon trailed off.

"Brandon, you're helping by giving us jobs to work on while they're looking for Aunt Ava," Amara told him.

"Yeah," Dean agreed.

Ness nodded. "Instead of us going out of our minds with worry."

Brandon nodded in understanding. "Glad I could help then. I wish I could do more, though."

They looked at him thankfully, nodding.

"What about your dad?" Catty asked. "Where's Mick?"

"He emailed me from England," Brandon told them. "Apparently he got a last minute assignment from Dr. Hess, an elder, one of the 'old men'."

They nodded, all of them thinking that this was the truth.

Night - Bishop Meat Empire

Daryn was working at the factory, in white clothes with a white hat over blue hair net. He was startled when his boss, Pete Garfinkle, appeared out of nowhere while closing the fridge door.

"Sorry," Pete told him.

"Damn it, Pete," Daryn complained.

"Daryn, I don't wanna be the bad guy here, but you clocked in late," Pete told him. "Again."

"Yeah, and?" Daryn asked.

"And you're really painting me in a corner here, pal," Pete told him. "Look, I know--I know that you and Jarrod, you were close. And I liked him, too. He was a--a valued employee and he was a friend."

"Really?" Daryn asked skeptically.

Pete nodded. "Yeah."

"'Cause after you put him on part time, he pretty much hated you," Daryn told him.

"Well, I would say that that was his prerogative," Pete told him. "But you can't keep using him as an excuse to blow off work. Okay?"

"Yeah," Daryn answered. "Okay."

Pete stood in his way when he tried to walk. "Daryn, Daryn. One more thing. You gotta lay off the reefer. All right? At least for tomorrow. It's a big day."

§

Outside

Daryn left work, walking toward his truck in the snow, but before he could start the car to leave, the goat-headed so-called Black Bill creature smashed his window, dragging him out of the truck, bludgeoned him with a mallet, making him scream.

Day Three

Morning - Diner

(Song:) Ninety Nine - Country Gentlemen (Fundamental Music)

Sam, Dean, Catty, Ness and Amara were sitting at a table. Aiden was sitting in a high chair. Brandon met up with them, getting breakfast.

Amara looked at Brandon's unfinished plate of food. "You gonna eat that?"

"Uh, guess not," Brandon answered. "Be my guest."

Amara took Brandon's healthy plate of food. "I mean, would it kill you to order pancakes? Once?"

Brandon started to take the food back. "Okay, fine. You--"

Amara took the plate back. "No, no. No. I can deal."

Brandon smirked in amusement. Amara smiled. Aiden laughed. Sam, Dean, Catty and Ness smirked knowingly, exchanging a look. Amara started to eat Brandon's food, realizing that it tasted good, smiling. Brandon chuckled.

"Ness, Brandon, anything on goat dude?" Dean asked.

"Yeah, a little bit," Ness answered, showing them her tablet. "We have some idea what we're dealing with. Look at this. It's a Satyr, half-man, half-goat from Greek mythology."

"Oh, come on," Catty told them. "This guy's adorable. He plays a freaking flute."

Sam took the tablet to have a closer look. "Yeah, Catty. That's--that's Pan. It's his flute."

Dean shrugged. "Mm."

"So listen, Satyrs are creatures of uncontrollable lust," Brandon explained. "They would lead people to the woods for massive orgies."

"Nice," Dean told them.

Ness read from her tablet. "And when the fun was over, the Satyr would, quote, 'feast upon the flesh of his victims until his belly was full to bursting with their moist, slippery meat'."

Amara lost her appetite, pushing the plate of food toward Brandon, scratching her head awkwardly. "That's descriptive. Uh..."

They chuckled.

"All right, what do we do?" Dean asked.

"Well, I was thinking that maybe we could go talk to Daryn, see if this is, indeed, what he saw," Sam told them.

"But?" Catty asked.

"But his mom told me Daryn never made it home from work last night," Sam answered.

They exchanged a look.

Bishop Meat Empire

Sam, Dean and Catty returned to the factory, posing as FBI to talk to Pete.

"Excuse me, sir," Catty told him. "Hi. Agents Stark, Martell and Snow, FBI. Uh, we're looking for Daryn Boston."

"Uh, Daryn?" Pete repeated. "Is he in trouble?"

Sam shook his head. "No, no, no. Not at all. We--we spoke with him yesterday. Just wanna ask a few follow up questions. I don't suppose he's around."

"No," Pete answered. "Daryn--Daryn didn't show up for work today."

"So when was the last time you saw him?" Dean asked.

"Oh, last night," Pete answered. "Closed up. Talked about our big day today."

"What big day?" Dean asked.

"You see that walking clipboard over there?" Pete asked.

"Yeah," Dean answered.

"That's a health inspector," Pete explained. "He's trying to shut us down."

"How come?" Catty asked. "This place is spotless."

"It cleans up pretty nice, but our equipment, it's a little out of date," Pete explained.

"Can't you upgrade?" Dean asked.

"We would if we could," Pete told them. "Business isn't exactly booming. We had to shut down half the plant three months back. Meanwhile, our owner would rather play Sheriff than actually take care of business."

"Wait a second," Dean told him. "You're telling me that Sheriff Bishop owns this place?"

"Yeah," Pete answered. "Barrett Bishop, Jr. Heir to the Bishop Meat Empire. His family, they've owned this plant for... forever. Barry's inside. He's hoping to sweet talk the inspector. You ask me, it's too little, way too late."

A nearby man called to Pete. "Mr. Garfinkle."

"Excuse me," Pete told them.

"Sure," Sam told him.

Pete walked away.

Dean looked at Sam and Catty. "So we roll into town, look into a case, talk to the local badge..."

"And then our one witness goes missing," Sam finished. "Last place he was seen owned by the Sheriff. Sound like a coincidence?"

"Well, like Ness always says," Catty told them. "No such thing as coincidences."

"Oh, you hungry?" Dean asked. "I'm hungry."

Dean roamed around. Sheriff Bishop walked in.

"Excuse me, Sheriff," Sam told him.

"Agents," Bishop told them. "What are you guys doing here?"

"Well, we could ask you the same thing, except..." Dean trailed off. "Oh, right, you run the joint."

"Well, my name's on the paperwork," Bishop told them. "Pete handles the day to day. Are you still trying to chase down Jarrod Hayes."

"Yeah, and uh, now Daryn Boston," Catty answered.

"Yeah, seems to have gone missing, too," Sam told him.

Bishop sighed. "Jeez. First I've heard of it."

"Yeah, so tell us, what have you heard about Black Bill?" Sam asked.

"I'm sorry?" Bishop asked.

"Black Bill," Catty answered. "Daryn told us he saw Black Bill attack Jarrod Hayes."

"He didn't wanna tell you 'cause he didn't think you'd believe him," Dean told him.

"Well--well, yeah, he's right," Bishop told them. "Look, around here, parents tell their kids not to go into the woods or Black Bill will get them. He's the Bogeyman. Everyone knows that the Bogeyman ain't real."

"Sure about that?" Catty asked. "Seems like a lot of people go missing in this town."

Dean nodded. "Yeah, one a year every year up until '97."

Bishop nodded in agreement. "Yeah, okay, I mean, people come to town, they work in the plant for a while, then they get bored and restless, and they, you know, move on."

"And Daryn?" Sam asked.

"You know, maybe Daryn thinks he saw Black Bill, but let's be honest," Bishop told them. "Kid was drunk, high, or both. And I'll bet you dollars to doughnuts, Daryn's just holed up, sleeping one off. Hell, he's probably waking up right now, safe and sound."

§

Freezer

Daryn was waking up, but not safe and sound. He was in a red-lit freezer inside the factor, banging on the door, yelling for help. "Hey! Help, please! Help! Help me!" Sam, Dean and Catty, and no one else for that matter, could hear Daryn yelling for help through the freezer. Daryn looked around, finding the Jarrod was dead on the floor, walking closer, kneeling next to him in shock. He looked up, seeing the creature further in the freezer, as it was growling. The creature stalked toward Daryn. Daryn ran to the door, pounding on it, but no one could hear him scream for help. "Help! Help! Please! Help me! Help! Help! Help!"

The creature dragged Daryn away, making him scream in terror.

Diner

(Song:) Burgers and Fries - Charley Pride

Sam, Dean and Catty met back up with Ness, Amara, Brandon and Aiden at the diner so they could get lunch. Dean squirted ketchup all over his burger to eat.

"Seriously, Dad?" Amara asked. "After what you just saw, how--how can you eat?"

"Nothing's enough to stop Dean's hunger, Amara," Ness told her.

"Burger's beef, bacon's pig, soylent green's people," Dena told them. "But this--this is Heaven."

"Wow," Brandon told them.

"Right, so what's the word?" Ness asked.

"So, Sheriff Bishop owns the plant," Catty told them.

"We talk to Sheriff about our witness, and he goes missing that night," Sam told them.

"The last place he was seen at the place owned by Bishop," Brandon realized.

"Yeah and Sheriff's not acting suspicious at all," Dean told them sarcastically.

"Right," Sam agreed.

"Yeah, but how is he connected to goat dude?" Amara asked.

Brandon nodded. "Now that's a good question."

"Well, me, Amara and Brandon..." Ness trailed off. "We did find something."

"Of course you did, you three geniuses," Catty told them.

They chuckled.

"So we cross checked all the names of the people who went missing with the employee roster at Bishop Meats," Brandon told them.

"And, more of the vics worked at the plant," Amara told them. "Try all of them."

"All of them?" Sam repeated. "Seriously?"

"So I guess it means safe to say that, uh, Black Bill is definitely connected to the plant," Ness told them.

"Or the family that runs it," Amara told them.

"Or both," Brandon told them.

"Yeah, maybe they just run an evil petting zoo on the side," Catty told them.

Aiden was making a mess in eating, to the amusement of the others, making them chuckle.

"So, I, uh, spent some time at the hall of records," Ness told them. "The Bishops founded Tomahawk. Everything. This is a company town. If you lived here, you worked at the plant." Amara drank soda from a glass. "The Bishops owned all the houses, all the business. Or they did until a few years ago." Aiden stuffed fries into his mouth, chewing like Dean ate his food. Catty, Amara and Ness smiled in amusement. Sam and Brandon smirked. "Looks like the Sheriff has been selling off all of their property."

"Yeah, everything, really," Brandon agreed. "Except for the plant. And the family estate."

Brandon showed them pictures of the estate.

"Wow," Amara told them. "So who lives at the Addams family house?"

Brandon's phone went off. He checked the text saying: Just checking in. "It's my dad."

"Okay," Amara told him. "Tell him we're cool."

Brandon sent a quick text, looking at Sam, Dean and Catty. "So creepy house?"

Dean nodded. "Creepy house."

§

The Bunker - War Room

The Men of Letters were breaking into the Bunker after Ketch got the text from Brandon saying they were working the case, when Brandon thought that it had been Mick texting him.

"It's clear," Ketch told them. "Onward. Now remember your orders. By the time we leave, Dr. Hess wants to know everything about our 'friends' the Winchesters. Their allies like Levi, their habits. How does Sam keep his hair so long? How do Catty, Ness, Amara, Sabrina, Ariel, Faith and Octavia keep their hair so shiny? How many ratty flannels does Dean own? Or trench coats in Castiel's case? Even how many toys Aiden has. So work quick, work quiet, and leave no trace. Oh, and apparently, Mick and Brandon Davies let the Singers/Winchesters get their hands on the bloody Colt. Find it, huh?"

§

Barrett Family Mansion - Outside

Sam, Dean and Catty pulled up in the Impala to the mansion.

"Looks empty," Sam told them.

"Well, why don't we check inside?" Catty asked. "Maybe we'll get lucky."

§

Inside - Hallway

Sam, Dean and Catty broke inside, looking around.

Dean found the locked basement door. "Sam. Catty, I'd say we just got lucky."

§

Basement

Sam, Dean and Catty walked downstairs, discovering what looked like a murder room.

"Wow," Sam told them. "Hello? Goat dude?"

"Why is it always the rich ones?" Dean asked. "I mean, what, are they, like 'Croquet's all right, but you know what'd be great? Murder'."

Bishop arrived while they were exploring.

Catty aimed her gun at Bishop. "Hiya, Sheriff."

§

Catty took the gun from Bishop, pushing him against the wall. "Talk."

"This is not what it looks like," Bishop told them.

"Really?" Catty asked sarcastically.

"'Cause it looks like a straight up murder room to us," Dean told him, having his phone on speaker so that Ness, Amara and Brandon would know what was going on from the diner.

"Sheriff, what's going on?" Sam asked.

Bishop sighed. "Oh, you--you won't believe me."

"Try us," Sam told him.

"We're pretty open minded," Amara told them.

Catty let Bishop go, but the three siblings kept their guns aimed at Bishop as he paced.

"My family, we got a secret," Bishop told them.

"All the best ones do," Brandon told him.

"Is this about Black Bill?" Sam asked.

Bishop sighed. "No. I mean, yeah, but--he's not real. Black Bill... he's us."

"Come again?" Ness asked.

"Uh, growing up, my father'd tell me stories about a monster," Bishop explained. "Lived under our house and made our family rich. All we had to do was--was feed it."

"Feed it what?" Amara asked.

"Blood," Bishop answered. "Human blood. My dad, his dad, and all the way back, they'd go out and grab some poor son of a bitch, bring them here, and... when they did it, they wore a mask. Black Bill... we made him up."

"So goat dude is just a dude?" Dean asked.

"Then who's the monster?" Catty asked.

"Moloch," Bishop answered. "God of Sacrifice."

"What?" Amara asked. "I'm sorry, you have a God living in your basement?"

Bishop sighed. 'Yeah. One of my people way back, they bound Moloch, locked him away. Starved him. My family, that's what we did. We let the God get so hungry that he'd do anything for blood. Moloch used his power to make us rich. After my father died in '97, I put a stop to all of that. Look, I couldn't... I never killed anybody. I just wanted to help people to make up for all the bad we've done. I wanted... to leave a legacy."

"Well, aren't you just a peach?" Brandon asked.

"So what happened to Moloch?" Amara asked.

"I kept him locked up," Bishop explained. "Hoped he'd starve to death."

"Locked up where?" Ness asked.

Bishop looked at the cellar.

Sam checked the cage. "It's empty."

"What?" Amara asked.

"It's empty?" Brandon repeated.

"Yeah," Catty answered.

Bishop stood worriedly. "No, no. No, no, no, no, no."

"Where else could this thing be, Bishop?" Ness asked.

Bishop thought for a long moment, freaking out. "The factory? I don't know."

Sam, Dean, Catty and Bishop were investigating the factory, guns held ready. They saw a figure behind them, turning around when they were magically thrown across the factory, falling to the floor, unconscious from being thrown magically by a God. Dean's phone, still on speaker, fell to the floor.

"Dad?" Amara asked worriedly.

"Dean?" Ness asked. "Hey."

"Aunt Catty?" Amara asked. "Uncle Sammy?"

The Bunker - Library

The British Men of Letters team was photographing everything.

Ketch verified that he couldn't see anything through the telescope. "Just as I thought. Can't see a damn thing."

Agents planted listening devices in various locations.

Dean and Ness' Room

Ketch was looking through Dean and Ness' room himself. The only thing he seemed interested in was the old photograph of Young Dean and Mary.

Bishop Meat Empire - Freezer

Sam, Dean and Catty were waking up with wounds in their heads, bound to chairs with plastic wrap, seeing that Bishop was knocked out on the floor, and Pete was pacing around in the Black Bill outfit.

"Hiya, Pete," Catty told him. "Nice digs."

"I didn't expect to see you again, Agents," Pete told them. "I went to the house looking for my brother."

"Brother?" Sam repeated.

"Barry," Pete answered. "Different moms, same daddy. Old man Bishop, he, uh, he had an eye for the ladies. Everyone in town knew about it, but didn't make a difference. Barry grew up in the big house. I grew up in a double wide. Does that sound fair to you?"

"Honestly?" Dean asked. "Sounds like a bad episode of 'Dynasty'."

"You got a lot of jokes," Pete told them.

"Yeah, right now, that's about all we got," Catty told him.

"Right," Pete told them. "You know what I got? A God."

"Moloch," Sam told him.

"Bingo," Pete answered. "With Barry giving away the family fortune like that, I had to get creative. I went to the old house, trying to get my hands on anything I could sell. But I found something else. Moloch. He told me he'd make me rich. He told me he'd solve all my problems. All I had to do was feed him. And hell, I'm a Bishop. That's what we do, right? Hunting people. Killing them. The family business." Sam, Dean and Catty exchanged an annoyed look. "Moloch's been starved for 20 years. It's gonna take a few meals for him to get his mojo going, but then... oh, we are back, baby. Yeah, I'm saving this town."

"Well, I'll tell that to Jarrod and Daryn," Dean told him.

"Jarrod was a screw up," Pete told them. "He got what he deserved. And Daryn? Well, sorry, bud, but once he talked, he had to go. Loose ends, you know? Loose ends. Come on! My jackass half-brother was supposed to be the next meal, and with him there, he'll get what he's got coming, too. But the God himself knocked you three out. So you'll do, too."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, hey," Sam told him.

"Pete, let's just talk about this," Catty told him.

"It'll be over soon," Pete told them. "Thanks for helping out."

"What?" Dean asked.

Pete left, locking them in the freezer for Moloch food.

The Bunker - War Room

Ketch and his team finished their inventory of the Bunker.

"The sweep's complete, sir," a man told him. "We've photographed and catalogued every inch."

"And the Colt?" Ketch asked.

"I'm afraid not," the man answered. "The Winchesters must have it."

Ketch sighed in annoyance. "Bugger."

"Shall we go?" the man asked.

"Yes," Ketch answered. "Just one last  thing." He planted a bug under the war room map table. "Now then, I could use a pint."

Bishop Meat Empire - Freezer

Sam, Dean and Catty were wheeling themselves around, spotting Daryn's body being dragged away by the monster, fighting to break free from the plastic bindings, getting free easily, but didn't have their guns or the Colt. Catty picked up a meat hook to defend them. The three siblings tried to stay hidden from Moloch because they knew that they didn't have anything that could kill him.

Dean looked around. "Come on, you son of a bitch."

Main Room

After Ness, Amara and Brandon had left Aiden at daycare to get to the factory, they held guns drawn and ready.

"Dad?" Amara asked. "Uncle Sam? Aunt Catty?"

Ness looked around. "Dean? Sam? Catty?"

Brandon heard growling from the freezer area. "Ness? Amara?" Pete was in the Black Bill costume, running at Brandon from the side, hitting him in the shoulder with a mallet, trying to hit him again. Brandon ducked, kicking him in the chest, making him back away.  Amara ran closer to push Pete to the ground, making him fall and drop the mallet, picking the mallet up, spinning it around threateningly. Ness aimed her gun at Pete, taking off his mask. "You're the manager of this place. Pete. Right?"

"That's right," Pete answered.

"Where're Sam, Dean and Catty?" Ness asked.

"In there with Moloch," Pete answered. "See, my half-brother Barry Bishop gave me this plant because he knew it was failing. What a bunch of crap. That's what I get. I get that my whole life. The crap!"

"Oh, stop whining," Amara told him in annoyance. "It could be worse."

Pete laughed sarcastically. "I threw Barry in there with the God. And the agents were knocked out by the God himself, so he obviously wanted them, too, and who am I to deny him that?" He slid away from them, drawing the Colt, which he had obviously taken from the siblings. "I'm saving this town. I'm the hero. And you're all dead."

Amara spun to kick the Colt out of Pete's hands, making it fall to the floor, hitting him in the head with the mallet, making him fall. Pete picked up the Colt, aiming it at Amara, making her stop. Brandon shot Pete from behind, making him fall dead. Amara sighed in relief, looking at Brandon. They nodded to each other. Ness ran to open the freezer. Amara picked up the Colt, running after Ness. Brandon followed. Ness shot the lock off the freezer with her gun, opening it to reveal Moloch inside about to kill Sam, Dean, Catty and Bishop. Amara aimed the Colt at Moloch, firing, shooting him in the head, making him flash with bright white light and flicker with yellow, watching him fall. As the body hit the ground, it turned into mush. Sam, Dean and Catty stood, helping Bishop stand. They looked at Ness, Amara and Brandon in surprise.

Ness gave them an 'I told you so' look. "Colt. Dusts anything."

Sam, Dean and Catty smiled in amusement and relief.

§

Bishop was kneeling next to Pete's body. Sam, Dean and Catty held frozen meat packages against their faces. Ness, Amara and Brandon walked closer.

"Hey," Brandon told them. "How you feeling?"

"Like we just went 12 rounds with a God," Dean answered. "So, you know, normal."

Amara chuckled in agreement, amused. "Yeah."

"You should go," Bishop told them.

"No, Sheriff, uh, we can help clean up," Sam told them.

"No," Bishop told them. "This... I'll take care of it. It's on me. This? This is my legacy."

The Bunker - Library

Sam, Dean, Catty, Ness and Amara returned home with Aiden, finding that Castiel, Sabrina, Ariel and Faith were there.

"Hey," Catty told them.

Sabrina, Ariel and Faith looked depressed. "Hey."

"No luck with Ava?" Sam asked.

"Not yet," Castiel answered.

"Just our luck," Sabrina told them.

"Yeah," Ariel agreed.

"How was your day?" Faith asked, trying to make everyone feel better.

"Right, well, Aiden is passed out in his room after a fun day at daycare while Amara, Brandon and I were saving Sam, Dean and Catty's asses," Ness answered.

"Yeah, well, you're used to saving them, Aunt Ness," Faith told her.

They managed small smiles.

"Brandon also ended up saving Amara, again," Catty told them.

Ariel chuckled. "Again."

"You got something going on with Brandon, Amara?" Sabrina asked teasingly.

Amara rolled her eyes. "No." They gave her unconvinced, amused looks. Amara was embarrassed and deflecting. "No, no, no, no. God, just stop looking at me like that. Please. Seriously, nothing."

They chuckled.

"You're used to teasing Sabrina about Levi, Amara," Ariel told her. "Not so fun when it's Sow teasing you about Brandon, is it?"

"All right, Ariel, I'm gonna stop you right there," Amara told her.

They smiled.

"Hey," Faith told them.

"Yeah?" Sabrina asked.

"Next time you hear me say that our family is messed up, remind me that we could be psycho goat people," Faith told them.

Castiel chuckled in amusement. "Yeah, that's true enough."

Catty sat next to Castiel and Sabrina, holding an arm around Sabrina, holding Castiel's hand, smiling a bit. They managed small smiles.

Ness set out drinks. "You know, I was thinking about what Bishop said about... what do you think our legacy's gonna be? When we're gone, I mean, after all the stuff we've done, you think folks will remember us? You know, like a hundred years from now?"

"No," Sam answered.

"Oh, that's nice," Dean told them sarcastically, taking a drink of beer.

"Well, I mean..." Sam trailed off, sighing. "Guys like us, we're not exactly the type of people they write about in history books, you know?"

Catty nodded in agreement. "Mm. Yeah."

"But the people you've saved, they're your legacy," Castiel told them. "And they'll remember you. Sabrina, Ariel and Faith won't be willing to let you fade away until you're ready to go. And you won't be ready to go for years and years." Sam, Dean, Catty and Ness nodded in agreement. "That's fine. Because you left the world better than you found it. Right?"

Ariel looked around. "I wonder what's gonna happen to this place. After we're not here anymore, you think some hunter'll move in, keep fighting the fight?"

"Yeah, I hope so," Sabrina told them.

Sam, Dean, Catty, Ness and Amara spoke at the same time. "Me too."

"If we're lucky, we won't have to leave it to Aiden," Faith told them. "Unless he really wants to."

"I gotta be honest," Dean told them. "Yeah, I love what we do, and there's always good reasons for hunters to become hunters. But I hope that Aiden doesn't have to. So that he doesn't have to go through what we went through."

Ness sighed, taking a drink of her beer. "Yeah. Me too. But we can't control what Aiden would want to do anymore than we can control what Amara wants to do now."

Everyone took a drink from beer for the adults' case, and soda for the girls' case.

Sabrina got an idea, taking out a knife, opening it.

"What are you doing?" Ariel asked.

"Leaving our mark," Sabrina answered, carving S.O.W. into the table, standing for her initials/nickname, Sabrina Olexa Winchester. "Here."

Amara smiled, carving A.E.W for her full initials, Amara Ever Winchester. Ariel carved A.G.M.W for her full initials, Ariel Grace Marie Winchester. Faith carved F.R.H.W. for her full initials, Faith Rose Hope Winchester. Catty smiled, carving C.M.W for Catalina/Catty May Winchester. Ness carved N.C.S.W for Ness/Vanessa Claire Singer-Winchester. Sam carved S.W.W for Sam William Winchester. Dean carved D.E.W for Dean Edward Winchester.

Catty held the knife toward Castiel. "Come on, Cas. You're part of the family. You get to do it, too."

"And when we get Mom back, we'll have her do it, too," Faith added.

Castiel chuckled.

"Come on, Dad, do it," Sabrina told him. Castiel sighed, giving in, carving in C. Catty leaned her head on his shoulder. Sabrina looked toward the door. "You brought Brandon back here?"

"Yeah, because Mick's in England," Amara answered. "Yeah, Brandon, come in."

Brandon walked in. "Hey. I should call my father, debrief."

"Sure," Sam agreed.

"First," Amara told him, holding the knife toward him. "You too."

Brandon was confused and amused, chuckling lightly. "Why not?"

They chuckled. Brandon carved in B.D, calling Mick's phone.

Ketch's voice was on the other line. "Hello, Brandon."

"Ketch?" Brandon asked. "Where's my father?"

Ketch was walking through the main BMOL compound in England. "Oh, he didn't tell you? He's staying in London for a  while. After all the, uh, oh, unpleasantness with Dagon and Renny, well..." Amara looked guilty at the mention of Renny. "Mick has a lot to answer for. As do you, Brandon. Where are you?"

"With the Winchesters," Brandon answered. Ketch was annoyed because they couldn't kill Brandon while he was with the Winchesters, knowing that they would protect him. "Do I seriously have to report to you now?"

"I don't like it anymore than you do," Ketch told him, sitting at his desk. "I'd much rather be with Mary." Dean gave them an exasperated hand gesture. "Hunting for... Chupacabra in Texas. But for now, I'm what you've got. So Wisconsin?"

"We fought a God and won," Brandon answered. "Without the help of Ava, Levi, Sabrina, Ariel, Faith or Cas. Since Ava's missing and Levi's in Heaven. Amara killed him with the Colt."

"Well done," Ketch told him. "We'll be in the touch."

They hung up. Brandon was annoyed, looking at his phone, confused.

"What's wrong?" Amara asked.

"I don't believe him," Brandon answered. "Sabrina, Amara, did either of you sense if he was lying?"

"It's hard to tell from over the phone," Sabrina told him. "Sorry, Brandon."

"So now we're reporting to low rent Christian Bale?" Catty asked skeptically. "Seriously?"

Still in his office, Ketch could hear them through the bugs, while he was staring at the picture of Young Dean and Mary he had stolen from Dean and Ness' room.

"I don't like that guy," Ariel told them. "He creeps me out."

"Yeah," Faith agreed.

"And he rides the oldest, worst, most unreliable bike," Dean told them.

They all chuckled.

London, England

Men of Letters Compound - Octavia's Cell

Octavia was still chained with warded chains, with Enochian warded wires embedded into her skull, while the Angels were trying to brainwash her while a BMOL was chanting the spell that was trying to take her free will away, fill her with so much anger that she would go dark. Octavia kept fighting no matter how painful or wrenching they made it. It was excruciating, but she would fight for as long as she could, because doing something that would hurt her family would kill her. And she would rather her third death than to hurt anyone in her family.

But the more pressure of brainwashing or spellwork they put on Octavia, the harder it was to fight. Trying to push them out of her mind while they were running electricity and bolts into her head, while using the spell to fry what they wanted her to do or know into her mind. Excruciating didn't even come close to describing that.

Octavia's Mind Space

Night - The Bunker - Library

Octavia stopped thinking about the pain when she seemed to appear in the Bunker, looking around in confusion, standing.

Sam walked in toward her with a couple of beers, smiling. "Hey. Ava, you okay?"

Octavia looked at him suspiciously, backing away. "This isn't real. You're not Sam."

"Is that so?" Sam asked in amusement. "Well, if I'm not Sam, then what am I, Ava?"

"A way for them to get to me," Octavia answered. "To try to break me. It's not gonna work."

Sam walked closer. "You're strong. Very strong. And you've spent so long fighting against them. And the real Sam would be proud of you for fighting for so long, to protect him and the rest of your family. But even you know that you can't fight forever."

"Stop talking," Octavia told him, trying very hard not to get angry, turning away, sighing shakily.

Sam smirked. "You've tried praying to Sabrina, Ariel and Faith, but they can't hear you through the warding in the compound. You can't break free because of the warded chains. You can't come home until you give in."

"I'm not giving in," Octavia told him angrily.

Sam stepped around Octavia to turn to face her. "It's not giving in when they break you down little by little every day for months, is it? You know that Sabrina, Ariel and Faith can't find you because of the warding, too. You know what the Brits want you to do, Ava. Killing every hunter in America. Convincing Sabrina, Ariel and Faith to listen to you, to the Brits. And you know they will listen to you. They'll come with you, to try to save you, but they'll know that they can't heal you all at once without permanently damaging your mind. Because of the spell that is rewiring your brain, burning your subconscious, making you more angry and more violent than you have ever been, and that is saying something, Ava. They could heal you bit by bit so that they're not risking damaging you forever. But if you go too long without being healed even a little bit, you'll start to go mad again."

Octavia glared, turning away, overwhelmed, breathing shakily, trying to stay calm. "I'm not going anything. I'm not..."

"Letting them use you, torment you, break you?" Sam finished. "You've been putting up a great fight lately, Ava. You know that you can keep it up for as long as you can. But you know you can't do that forever."

Even though Octavia knew that it wasn't the real Sam, she didn't want to hurt him, but the anger that she felt from the spell and brainwashing was overwhelming to the point that she had trouble controlling the anger. "Shut up."

"You'll still have all of your memories of your family, Ava," Sam told her. "Of your daughters, your husband. Nieces and nephew. Brothers in law and sisters in law." He stepped closer and closer to Octavia from behind, running a hand along her skin to provoke a more angry reaction, whispering in her ear. "And you'll remember everything when you look Sam, Catty and Cas, and even Levi, in the eyes and you take their lives, so they won't be in the way of Sabrina, Ariel and Faith. So that they can't save any of you. Same with Dean, Ness, Amara and Aiden. Even Brandon."

Octavia turned to face him, pushing him away from her, but she didn't want to do more than that even though she knew this wasn't real. "It's not going to happen."

"You can't even convince yourself anymore, can you?" Sam asked. "Come on, Ava. Just give in. Let go. It'll be a lot easier that way."

"Yeah, for them," Octavia told him. "The real Sam knows that I would sooner give them all hell and kill them all before I ever did anything they wanted."

"By choice," Sam agreed. "But it's not so easy when they're taking your choice away from you, is it? The anger and rage you feel right now? It's just going to keep getting worse and worse until you lose it completely. And then you'll be enslaved by the spell." Octavia shook her head, breathing heavily, looking away. "You know you have to kill Sam, Dean, Ness, Amara, Catty, Cas and Levi to keep them from coming for you, Sabrina, Ariel and Faith. You'll have to kill Aiden, too. And Brandon for turning his back on his organization. What are you going to do about that, Ava?"

Octavia had trouble controlling herself, picking up the Angel Blade from the table, turning it toward Sam. "You're not the real Sam, so don't talk like you are him. You want the anger and rage to consume me? Well, that part is working, I'll grant you that."

"But you won't admit that the spell and brainwashing is breaking you down, putting you in this special little place in your mind where you can't get out, while the Ava that we want is in control, doing what we want," Sam told her. "You might be aware of what's happening out there, but you can't do anything to stop it. You will do this. It's only a matter of time. We want you to use Sabrina, Ariel and Faith, yes. But what about Lucifer's children? If they're not good, if we can't use them, you'll have to kill them, Ava."

Octavia shook her head. "No. I promised that I wouldn't do that."

"And what good does that promise make if you're the reason that they turn evil, because you couldn't kill them?" Sam asked. "What if Sabrina, Ariel and Faith turn out that way, too, because of you? Could you handle that, Ava? Could you handle everything falling apart because of you?"

The British using the image of Sam taunting Octavia and trying to break her down drove her so angry with rage that she couldn't control it when she stabbed him, making the image of Sam fade and disappear, breathing heavily in worry and horror, though still consumed with anger, dropping the blade to the floor, backing away, turning around, pacing around the room, trying everything to calm down. Still fighting with everything she had, but it was getting harder and harder to fight, becoming overcome with anger that she couldn't control. Things in her head that she wasn't thinking. Everything changing while she tried her best to remain the way she was. Octavia knew she was losing the fight, but she that she couldn't give up. She knew that they were right about one thing. She couldn't keep fighting forever though she would go down fighting to the end.
