THEN

From 1.20 "Dead Man's Blood", in the motel room, John Winchester placed a bottle of Dead Man's Blood on the table.

John: (voice over from 1.20 Dead Man's Blood) "Dead Man's Blood."

From 3.07 "Fresh Blood", in the alley, Lucy the Vampire ran, trying to bite Catty on the neck.Catty caught her by the hair, pulling her head back before she broke skin, injecting her with a vial of Dead Man's Blood. Lucy backed away weakly, falling to the ground, unconscious.

John: (voice over from 1.20 Dead Man's Blood) "It's poison to Vampires."

From 6.05 "Live Free or Twihard", in the Vampire warehouse, on the stair landing, the crowd of Vampire girls swarmed around Dean. Dean started swinging at them one by one with a machete. Blood splattered on the door.

John: (voice over from 1.20 Dead Man's Blood) "And most of the Vampires' lore is crap."

From 6.05 "Live Free or Twihard", in the Vampire warehouse's balcony, Catty had beheaded many of the Vampires by the time they had woken up, thinning them out by quite a bit. She was splashed with blood, but she didn't seem to care. She was emotionless, void and dead set on killing the Vampires. One Vampire ran toward Catty. Catty swung the machete at his neck, decapitating him, letting the headless body fall. Two others stood in front of Catty, growling and hissing. Catty swung at one, beheading him, spinning around, beheading the other's all in one swift motion, watching the headless bodies fall, backing away.

John: (voice over from 1.20 Dead Man's Blood) "The only way to kill them is by beheading."

From 8.02 "What's Up, Tiger Mommy?", in the Vampire's Nest, there were closeups of Ness' bloody, filthy body. She was covered in sweat, blood and filth, bite marks all over her skin. There were sounds of growling Vampires and closeups of Vampire fangs. Ness looked to be barely alive, glaring toward the Vampires.

Ness: (voice over from 9.19 Alex Annie Alexis Ann) "They knew I could kill them at my full strength. So they kept me nearly dead from the minute they got their hands on me. And they did a lot more than just feed off me. I was angry. I still am. I still have nightmares."

There were flashes of Vampires feeding from Ness, having her nearly dead, and several Vampires having Ness pinned against a tree, rock or ground, looking at her intently, feeding all over her body, some looking as if they weren't biting her, but kissing her roughly, pushing back her hair, pulling at her black tank top and shorts, becoming more and more rough.

Ness: (voice over from 10.03 Soul Survivor) "Being taken by those Vampires... being a slave for blood, torture and pleasure..."

Ness was too weak, too close to death to stop them.

From 8.07 "A Little Slice of Kevin", in the mote room on the girls' side, Ness was sitting on one bed. Catty was lying on the other. Young Sabrina was asleep, nestled in against Catty.

Catty gazed off. "Push it away, try to run away from it, try to forget about it. Try to convince yourself that you're okay so you can try to move on with your life. The worst thing is not what happens. It's what you have to live with after the damage is done. But at lest you have one thing."

"And what's that?" Ness asked.

"Someone to love," Catty answered. "Someone to love you. Someone that has done and will do everything and anything for you. Someone that'll help you get through this."

Ness looked through the double doors toward Dean and Sam's side. Dean looked toward Ness. Ness smiled a small smile.

From 8.09 "Citizen Fang", outside Guidry's Cajun Cafe, Dean and Ness were sitting on the bench.

"I still think about it, every day," Ness told him. Dean looked at her somberly. Ness closed her eyes, letting a tear fall. She looked at Dean, tears in her eyes. "And it's far from over."

Dean wrapped an arm around Ness.

From 9.19 "Alex Annie Alexis Ann", in the Sheriff's Station, Dean sighed heavily, looking at Ness. "See, I don't know if I should let you take your angers out on the Vampire kind, or take you away at 100 miles per hour."

Ness smiled a small smile. "It's okay. It's a job. I can't walk away."

From 10.03 "Soul Survivor", in the Bunker's dungeon, Ness was handcuffed to the chair with Demonic handcuffs within the Devil's Trap. She let her eyes turn black. Dean splashed Ness with Holy Water, making her skin burn and her groan a scream of pain, plunging the needle into her arm, injecting her with blood.

Dean: (voice over from 10.04 Paper Moon) "Ness, you were a Demon."

From 9.11 "First Born", in Cain's farmhouse, Cain took Ness' right hand in his. A red vein spread from Cain's Mark to burn an identical Mark on Ness' forearm.

Sam: (voice over from 10.03 Soul Survivor) "The Mark of Cain... she still has that."

From 10.03 "Soul Survivor", in the Bunker's library, Sam looked at Octavia. "And sooner or later, that's going to be an issue."

From 10.01 "Black", at the bonfire party, in the cornfield, Ness used the bottle she was drinking from to smash the glass over the man's head, making him fall to the ground. She started to punch the man, kicking and kneeing, until he was a bleeding mess, until he was barely alive.

From 10.02 "Reichenbach", in the karaoke club, there were flashes of Ness killing the five men.

From 9.19 "Alex Annie Alexis Ann", in the Sheriff's Station, Deputy Frank hauled a struggling Alex through the hall.

Jody Mills: (voice over from 9.19 Alex Annie Alexis Ann) "My men brought in a runaway last night. She's got zero manners."

From 9.19 "Alex Annie Alexis Ann", in the cell, Cody the Vampire opened his mouth. A set of Vampire fangs descended. He went to bite Alex. He was beheaded from behind, blood splashing the cell. Alex looked at the person who had beheaded Cody in shock. Jody Mills was standing there with a bloody fire ax.

Jody: (voice over from 9.19 Alex Annie Alexis Ann) "Didn't even thank me for saving her."

From 9.19 "Alex Annie Alexis Ann", in the cabin, Alex picked up a picture of the Mills. "This your family?"

"Yes," Jody answered.

"How'd they die?" Alex asked.

From 5.15 "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid", in the Mills House, in the living room, Owen Mills was kneeling over Sean Mills' body on the floor, eating him alive, his mouth and chin bloodstained.

Jody looked on in horror. "Oh, my God."

From 5.15 "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid", outside the Mills House, Sam walked inside.

Catty looked at Jody. "Hey, look at me." She put her hands on Jody's shoulders, turning her to face her, away from the house. "Jody, look at me."

Jody looked at Catty. They could hear a gunshot. Jody closed her eyes, wincing, starting to cry.

From 9.19 "Alex Annie Alexis Ann", in the cabin, Jody looked at Alex. "Horribly."

From 9.19 "Alex Annie Alexis Ann", outside the cabin, Dean, Ness, Sam and Jody stood together.

"You know what to do with her?" Ness asked.

Jody nodded. "I'll take her in." They looked at her in impressed surprise, accepting this. "She can stay with me."

From 9.19 "Alex Annie Alexis Ann", outside the Sheriff's Station, Sam, Dean, Ness and Jody stood together.

Jody looked at them sympathetically. "You hear anything on Catty?"

"No," Dean answered.

From 9.13 "The Purge", in the Sheriff's Station, Sam and Catty were posing as FBI. Catty and Sheriff Donna Hanscum both took bites of their donuts.

Ness: (voice over from 9.13 The Purge) "Is Sheriff Hanscum around?"

Officer: (voice over from 9.13 The Purge) "She's out for the rest of the week."

From 9.13 "The Purge", in Canyon Valley Spa, in the patient room, the Winchesters were talking to Donna.

Donna was lying on one of those inclined beds win a white spa robe. "I already lost ten pounds."

"In a day?" Catty asked.

"My husband, Doug, left me last year 'cause he said I loved cookie dough milkshakes more than him," Donna told them.

"Doug's a dick," Dean told her. "You deserve better."

Donna nodded. "You betcha."

Donna smiled.

NOW

Day One

Hibbing, Minnesota

Night - Dark Alley

A young boy was spray painting smiley face tags on a brick wall. He heard a noise, looking around. He didn't find anything, so he continued to pain. A figure appeared behind him, attacking the boy, proceeding to beat him to death. Characteristic blood spatter covered the smiley face tag. When the stencil fell off the wall, it left a smiley face in blood.

Day Two

Morning - Lodge - Sheriff's Retreat - Outside

Jody Mills walked in, not looking pleased to be there. She sighed. "You can get through this." She saw a young girl who appeared to be homeless. "How old are you?"

"19," the girl answered.

Jody handed her some money. "Get yourself some lunch."

§

Inside - Lobby

Donna Hanscum was welcoming people. "Hi. Hiya. Yeah, welcome. Come on. Sheriff... Sheriff Jody Mills, Sioux Falls. Okay, I'm Sheriff Donna Hanscum. I work out of Stillwater, but I grew up here, so you have any questions, you know, best burgers, cheapest gas, just ask." Jody didn't respond. "What's wrong? Left your smile back in Sioux Falls?"

"I left a kid back in Sioux Falls," Jody answered. "Plus a pile of work. But when the mayor insists you go..."

"You gotta go," Donna finished. "Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I hear you." She held a lollipop toward Jody. "Here, have a sucker."

"No, thank you," Jody told her. Donna smiled, holding the sucker toward her persistently. Jody took it awkwardly. "O--okay."

Another Sheriff, this one male, walked closer. "Donna."

"Doug," Donna replied.

"Well, aren't you looking good, huh?" Doug asked.

Donna smiled proudly. "Hey! You're a quarter of the way there." Donna looked hurt and discouraged. Jody looked at Doug incredulously. "Hey, you, uh, you think you could toss me a couple extra meal vouchers? I mean, since you won't be using them?" Donna handed him the meal vouchers. "Oh, you are true blue as ever, Donna, huh?"

Doug grabbed a handful of suckers, walking away, leaving.

Donna looked at Jody. "Doug and I used to be married."

Jody nodded in understanding. "Got it."

"Have fun," Donna told her.

Jody walked away, leaving.

§

Lebanon, Kansas

The Bunker - Library

Sam, Dean, Catty and Ness were researching.

Ness carried her laptop toward them. "Hey. We good?"

"Aces," Catty told them sarcastically. "Yeah, I love the smell of parchment in the morning."

"I mean, how much lore is even left?" Sam asked. "We've got nothing on the Mark?"

"Right?" Dean asked. "You'd think these eggheads, with all the crap they amassed over the years, would have actually collected something important." He picked up a collection of papers and read the title. "Uh, here. 'He-Wolf/She-Wolf: A Study of Werewolf Transgenderism'. 600 pages, Volume 1. But, uh, not something important, like, I don't know, maybe the oldest symbol known to man. 'That's not worth our time. It's not weird enough'."

Ness sighed, looking down, going through more.

§

Hibbing, Minnesota

Sheriff's Retreat Lodge - Conference Room

Another Sheriff with the nametag Cuse was standing at a podium, addressing the room full of Sheriffs, appearing very uncomfortable. "Uh, good morning. Uh, excuse me. If I could get you all seated, please. Uh, good morning."

The Sheriffs all sat down. "Morning."

"I'm, uh, Sheriff Len Cuse, uh, Hibbing PD," Cuse told them. "I'd like to say first off, uh, what an honor it is to have you all here in Hibbing this year. It, uh..." His phone rang with the sound of a police siren. He hurried to turn it off. "Sorry. Sorry, uh... uh, sorry, folks, sorry about that. Uh... what was I, uh... Oh, right. Right. Um, s--seeing as how this, uh, m--my first time time hosting one of these things."

Doug muttered to himself. "Obviously."

"I thought I'd like to try something new," Len told them, clearing his throat. "Partners. Uh, f--find an officer from 50 miles outside of where you fail from and be a team this weekend. Go on, uh, a--and make a friend."

Jody was at the back of the conference room, ignoring the others, on her phone. "Alex, I know you'll be okay. You are totally capable of not throwing a kegger while I'm gone. Totally, totally capable. My faith in you astounds me, too. I'll call you later." She hung up, turning around, examining the group, turning to leave. Donna was there. "Oh."

"Hiya," Donna told her cheerfully.

"Hi, "Jody told her.

"Looks like you didn't get a partner," Donna told her.

"Looks like," Jody agreed.

Donna smiled. "Well, you got one now."

§

Lobby

Donna, Jody and another Sheriff, male, examined the events board for the retreat, discussing the previous night's grisly findings.

Donna looked at the other Sheriff. "Hey, Kevin."

"Hey, Donna," Kevin told her.

"Okay, what do we got?" Donna asked. "'Cops vs. Winter: The Snow Must Go On'." She chuckled. "'Establishing a K-9 unit'. Okay. Oh. 'Preparing for a riot, why not try it?'" She chuckled. "Why not? I don't know."

"Hey, Donna," Kevin told her.

"Yeah?" Donna asked.

"Hear about the body?" Kevin asked.

"What body?" Donna asked.

"Yeah, what body?" Jody asked. She introduced herself to Kevin. "Sheriff Jody Mills."

"Trashmen found it being the hardware store this morning," Kevin told them. "Eaten."

Donna gasped. "Eaten how?"

"Like nothing left but the peace pit, you know?" Kevin asked.

"Any idea what did it?" Jody asked.

"Uh, coroner's saying animals out of the woods," Kevin told them. "Bobcats and whatnot. No wonder Sheriff Cuse was so out of sorts back there. Got this whole mess to deal with."

"Attacks like this common for the area?" Jody asked.

"Heck, no," Donna answered. "When I lived here, we kept our critters in check." She looked at Kevin. "Did it leave any tracks? You know, any hairs?"

"Not even a claw mark on the body," Kevin answered.

"I'll be right back," Jody told them.

"Okay," Donna told her. "Yeah. Save ya a seat, Jody."

§

Lebanon, Kansas

The Bunker - Library

Dean and Ness were sitting across from each other at one table, researching. Sam and Catty were sitting across from each other at the other table, researching.

Catty's phone rang. She pulled it out, looking at the Caller ID, smiling. "No way." She answered her phone. "Jody." Ness looked up. "How's it going?"

"Oh, you know," Jody told her. She was outside of the Sheriff's Retreat Lodge. "Having the time of my life at a Sheriff's retreat in Hibbing."

"Wow," Catty told her sarcastically. "Sounds like a blast." Dean, Sam and Ness waved. "Uh, Dean, Sam and Ness say hi."

Jody was surprised. "You found Ness? Thanks for telling me, Catty."

"Yeah," Catty told her. "Uh, right. Sorry about that."

"How's she doing?" Jody asked.

"Good, good," Catty answered. "Yeah, you know. Uh, you know, hold on a sec. I'm gonna put you on speaker."

Catty put the phone on speaker.

"Hey, Jody," Ness told her. "How's Alex holding up?"

Jody leaned against her car. "Awesome. Already head of the cheerleading squad."

"Wow," Sam told her. "Really?"

"No, Sam," Jody answered. "She smokes grass under the bleachers." Dean and Ness smirked. Catty chuckled. "But at least she's not luring men to their deaths."

"Right," Sam told her.

"Listen, this may not be your kind of thing, but a body was found here this morning, and something had gone to chow town on it," Jody told them.

"Uh, was the throat ripped out?" Dean asked.

"Worse," Jody told them. "I'm hearing that all the flesh had been eaten down to the bones. Any ideas?"

"Well, it's not a Vampire," Dean told them.

"Yeah, I--I don't know, Jody," Catty told her. "I--I got nothing."

"Jody, um... we could head that way," Ness told her. "Wouldn't be any trouble at all."

Jody shook her head. "Nah, it's okay. I can handle it. I promise I'll call if it gets to be something I can't."

Ness looked away.

"All right," Sam told her. "Well, uh, enjoy the retreat."

Jody smirked sarcastically. "Screw you, Winchester."

Catty smiled. "Talk soon."

Catty hung up, chuckling.

"I'm gonna swallow a bag of knives if I got to keep looking at this stuff," Ness told them. "Let's--"

"Jody said she was on top of it, Ness," Sam told her.

"Uh-huh," Dean told them, pondering the books around them.

Ness sighed, looking at Catty for help.

Catty looked at Dean and Sam. "Come on, guys. I haven't seen Jody since before Abaddon jumped my bones, and Ness wants to see an old friend for the first time since she's gotten back." Dean looked thoughtful, considering. Sam looked reluctant. Catty raised her eyebrows. "Don't make me give you the puppy dog look."

"God, please don't," Dean told her. "That look will make monsters melt dead."

"Yeah," Sam agreed. "And of course Catty had to teach Sabrina the puppy dog look to break me and Dean down. Like when Sabrina used the puppy dog look to convince us, Cas and Ava to stick around for the musical. Though Sow was right to do that because of Calliope."

"Of course Catty had to teach Sabrina the puppy dog look, Sam," Dean told him. "How else would Cat and Sow get what they want?"

Ness smirked.

Sam sighed, smirking. "All right, let's take a drive."

Catty and Ness looked at each other, smug at their win.

Hibbing, Minnesota

Coroner's Office

Jody walked in, introducing herself to the coroner. "Hey. I'm Sheriff Jody Mills. I want to take a look at the body they brought in this morning."

"Sure," the coroner told her. "Soon as you become a member of the Hibbing Police Department."

"Look, I'm just trying to help here," Jody told her.

"And I'm just trying to not lose my job," the coroner replied. Donna walked in. The coroner smiled. "Hey, Donna."

"Hiya, Shelly," Donna told her. "How are the kids?"

Shelly smiled. "Ah, little jerks. Love them to death. Need something."

"Oh, I just came to check out the vic," Donna answered.

"Oh, where's Len at?" Shelly asked.

"Oh, he's tied up with the retreat," Donna answered. "Big surprise, right? But I figure what's the sense of having a hotel full of Sheriffs if you can't help out?"

"Someone's got to get you a halo or something," Shelly told her.

Donna smiled. "Oh."

Shelly nodded to Jody. "But, um... what's her deal?"

"Oh, Sheriff Mills?" Donna asked. "Might say she left her manners back in Sioux Falls." Jody was annoyed. "But she's with me."

"Oh," Shelly told them.

"So, what do you say?" Donna asked. "Curtains up?"

"Hold on to your breakfasts," Shelly told them. "This one's grisly."

Shelly pulled out the mutilated body to show them.

"Ufta," Donna told them. Jody whistled. "Ate the whole kit and caboodle. That's for darn sure. You got a measuring tape?"

Donna pulled on some examining gloves.

"Yeah," Shelly answered.

"Can I see his personal effects?" Jody asked, holding up the victim's pants. "That string bean wore these? Where's the belt?"

"He wasn't wearing any," Shelly told them.

"These stayed up without a belt?" Jody asked skeptically.

"Or... wild animals stole it," Shelly told them sarcastically.

"Jodio, check this out," Donna told her. "Ya know, I've been hunting since I could hold a mini rifle. Seen darn near every bite in the book, but I couldn't tell ya what did the biting here."

"I was afraid of that," Jody told them.

"Meaning?" Donna asked.

Jody shrugged. "Nothing. Got me stumped, too."

§

Night - House - Outside

A man was taking the trash out.

A woman was nagging him from inside. "Don't you go smoking, Howie."

"Uh, just watch your 'Top Model'," Howie told her, getting his hidden pack of cigarettes out of the dryer vent.

He heard a sound from behind the dumpster, going to investigate. He was suddenly pulled behind the dumpster. There were sounds of screaming, struggling, squishy tearing sounds and blood splattering from behind the dumpster as Howie was eaten alive.

Sheriff's Retreat Lodge - Bar

(Song:) All I Know (Jive / 43 BPM) - Jim Wolfe

Jody and Donna were talking to Len.

"Hiya, Len," Donna told him. "How's that seltzer treating ya?"

"Oh, something I can help you with?" Len asked.

"That animal attack last night sounded real bad, huh?" Donna asked.

"Yeah, sure was," Len answered.

"What kind of animal you thinking did it, now?" Donna asked.

"Oh, uh, I don't know," Len told them. "We got Animal Control on it."

"And that's it?" Jody asked. She introduced herself to Len. "Jody Mills, Sioux Falls."

A Deputy with the name tag Graham walked closer, looking at Len. "Sheriff Cuse. We have, uh... an issue with the... raffle."

"Right," Len told him. He looked at Jody and Donna. "Excuse me. I should go see to this. Uh... enjoy your night, Sheriff night."

Len and Graham walked away, leaving.

Donna looked at Jody. "He's got about as much as we do. Squat. You know, maybe he's right. Just let Animal Control take the lead."

Doug and another female Sheriff were dancing.

"Whoo!" the Sheriff told him. "Push the cart!"

Donna watched sadly. "I used the put the can in his cart."

"Are you really missing much?" Jody asked. "Wait. Honestly, Donna, I just met the guy, but... Doug seems like kind of a dick."

"But he was my dick," Donna told her. She watched Doug and the Sheriff dancing, looking at Jody. "I'm gonna go hit the can, you know... where it's less gross."

Donna walked away, leaving.

(Song:) There's a Rumor - Tim Renwick (Cavendish Music Library / Imagem Production Music)

Len and Graham were talking.

"Let's keep this to ourselves," Len told him.

Jody walked closer. "Everything okay?"

Len nodded. "Yeah, it's all good."

"All good with the raffle," Graham told her.

Jody gave them a seriously? look. "Can we real real, please?"

"All right, um, you want real?" Len asked. "Um... somebody else turned up dead."

"Looks like another animal attack," Graham told her.

"Please, don't spread that," Len told her. "We--we don't want to spoil everyone's good time."

"Or get too many cooks in the kitchen?" Jody asked.

"Exactly," Len answered. "Now, uh, Deputy Brice Graham and I got to go make a few calls, uh, so... try and have a good time, all right?"

Jody walked away, leaving.

§

Outside - Parking Lot

Jody was on the phone. "Alex." Donna walked outside. "Stop. No! D--Why do I hear firecrackers? Hello?"

Jody sighed, hanging up.

Donna walked closer. "So, maybe your life's not all cupcakes, either."

Jody held up her hands in defense of herself, revealing her car keys in one hand. "Never said it was."

"Uh-oh," Donna told her. "Flying the coop without me? Again?"

Jody shook her head. "No."

"No, I get it," Donna told her. "I do. 'Take a hint, Donna', right? It's okay."

"There's been another animal attack," Jody told her.

"Shut the front door," Donna told her. "Says who?"

"I just talked to Sheriff Cuse," Jody told her. "I was on my way out to the morgue, but it's probably closed by now, anyway. And... but it'll wait till tomorrow."

"Anything I can help with there?" Donna asked.

"Not unless you got any gems on how to handle a teenage girl," Jody told her. "'Cause mine is..."

Donna used her words about Doug earlier against her about Alex now. "Kind of a dick?"

Jody smiled. "She's got a whole lot more in there, too. Really good stuff. I was 17 once. Yeah, hair up to here." She held her hand slightly higher than her head. "Attitude up to here." She held her hand up as far as she could go, lowering her arm. "Why can't I get through to her?"

"You let anybody through to you at that age?" Donna asked.

Jody shook her head. "Jody Demoupied. Drove a motorcycle. Smelled like... mm. Yeah."

"She'll come around," Donna told her. "You did, right?"

Jody shrugged. "Eh."

"So, fresh corpse jerk ex-husband, out-of-control teen," Donna told her. "Want to get blingo'd on my minibar and watch pay-per-view?"

Jody smiled a small smile. "Thanks. I'm gonna crash. It's been a long day."

Jody walked toward her car.

Donna watched her go. "Don't I know it."

Sheriff's Retreat Lodge - Outside

The Impala pulled up to the lodge, pulling over. Sam, Dean, Catty and Ness got out of the car, posing as FBI. They walked up the steps, to the doors, opening them, walking inside.

Inside - Lobby

Sam, Dean, Catty and Ness walked in, looking around.

Jody saw them, smiling, walking closer. "I said I could handle it."

"Nice to see you, too," Ness told her.

Jody and Ness embraced tightly, smiling, pulling away. Jody and Catty embraced, smiling, pulling way.

"Been a while," Catty told her.

Jody nodded. She and Dean embraced, pulling away. She and Sam embraced, pulling away.

"Hey," Sam told her.

"Hi," Jody told them. "Okay, I'm headed to the morgue. You want in?"

"Uh, we just came from there," Sam told her.

"And?" Jody asked.

"And flesh was eaten off the second vic, too," Sam answered.

"Anything missing?" Jody asked.

"Eh, his wallet," Dean answered. "Why?"

"Because I think a belt was missing off the first kid," Jody answered.

"A belt?" Catty repeated. "So, what? We have monsters eating and then robbing people?"

They heard a Donna's voice from further in the retreat. "Jodio, you take sugar?"

"No," Jody answered. "No sugar."

"Okeydokes," Donna told her.

Dean looked at Jody. "'Jodio'?"

"It's, uh..." Jody trailed off. "Don't ask."

Catty looked toward Donna. "Wait a second. Isn't that, uh, uh, Donna?"

"Fat-spa Donna," Ness answered. "Right."

"You guys know my stalker?" Jody asked.

Sam groaned.

"She nearly blew a case for us last time," Catty told her.

"Yeah, I haven't been able to shake that ray of sunshine since I got here," Jody told them. "She's actually been pretty helpful, but, you know, it's just tough keeping her out of this nightmare stuff, you know?"

"Right," Sam answered. "You mind distracting her while we poke around?"

"You show up, and now I'm a babysitter?" Jody asked.

"Look, she hasn't gotten mixed up with this crap yet," Dean told her. "Let's just try to keep it that way."

"Fine," Jody told them. "But if she tries to show me her sticker collection, I'm out."

Donna walked over with coffee, looking at Sam, Dean, Catty and Ness. "Agent Frehley? Agent Criss? Agent Simmons? Agent Sandin?"

"Hey, Sheriff Hanscum," Sam told her.

"I thought that was you," Donna told them.  "Well, ain't this a kick in the pants? What dragged you in?"

"Uh, well, uh..." Dean trailed off. "We can't talk about it."

"Oh, yeah," Donna told them. "I hear you. Anything I can help with?"

Ness shook her head. "Oh, no, no, no, no, no. Uh, nothing."

"Actually, Sheriff, I was thinking you and I could go check out the gear expo," Jody told her.

"What about the morgue?" Donna asked.

"Well, you know, like you said, animal control will handle that," Jody told her.

Donna hesitated. "Well, if it's cool with you, it's cool with me."

"Great," Jody told her.

"Did you hear they're packing some pretty serious heat in there?" Donna asked.

Donna and Jody walked away, leaving. Sam, Dean, Catty and Ness walked over to a group of Sheriffs by the coffee, including Len and Brice.

"Hey, there," Catty told them. "Agents Criss, Frehley, Simmons and Sandin. Looking for the Sheriff..." They all raised their hands. "Of Hibbing."

Len stepped closer. "That'd be me."

Dean nodded. "Ah."

"Well, we're here investigating the attacks over the last couple nights," Sam told him. "Just wondering where you're at on that?"

"Oh, the, uh, animal attacks?" Len asked.

"Yeah," Sam answered.

"Wait, wait, wait," Brice told them. "You're telling me the FBI's got nothing better to do?"

"Well, we go where the boss tells us to," Dean told them.

"To what?" Brice asked. "Arrest a bobcat from Hibbing?"

"Is there a problem?" Ness asked.

"No," Brice answered. "No, there's no problem, sweetheart. You ain't the first Feds to roll through here and come up with nothing." He smirked, looking at Catty and Ness, winking. "Sure is cute to watch you try, though."

Catty and Ness exchanged an annoyed look.

"Oh, pal, the FBI doesn't do cute," Dean told him.

"Uh, Sheriff Cuse, we are just hoping there might be some surveillance footage of the attacks," Sam told him. Brice took a drink to hide his reaction. "Maybe a traffic camera caught something."

"No, sorry," Len told them. "I--I--I don't have a record of it. Speaking of, uh... can you keep an eye on the expo for me, uh, Deputy? I got to check in with the guys at the animal control. Agents, good to meet you. Uh, help yourself to a bear claw."

Len and Brice walked away, leaving.

"Sheriff's lying?" Sam asked.

"Deputy douche seems to think so," Dean told them.

"All right," Ness told them. "I'll go try and crack the police server. Maybe something showed up on surveillance."

"Yeah, maybe I'll go crack the deputy," Catty told them.

"We'll keep an eye around," Dean told them.

"Right, but this time, try to be a little less defensive of your pretend job, Dean," Ness told him.

"You know, this badge means something," Dean told them.

"I made it at Kinko's," Ness told him.

"Yes, you did," Dean agreed. "Be proud of that."

Ness shook her head, walking away. Catty smirked, following.

Conference Room

Donna and Jody stood at a booth displaying a variety of handguns.

"Son of a gun," Donna told them.

"Uh, officer ladies, check this one out," the vendor told them, showing them a small handgun. "You can take it to lunch, to the gym, have your nails done. She's always by your side."

Jody and Donna exchanged a skeptical look, looking at the vendor.

Jody picked up a large handgun. "How about this puppy?"

"Oh, well, it depends," the vendor told them. "Think you can handle a big one?"

"Sigma, right?" Jody asked.

"10 pounds pull weight," Donna told them. "Cute."

"Call this a big one?" Jody asked. "Hope you drive a Porsche."

Doug walked closer, looking at the vendor. "Chaz. If you're trying to pull the wool over this one." He gestured to Donna. "You got the wrong girl. Sheriff Hanscum here is a wolf in sheepskin, right?"

Doug chuckled.

"Thank you," Donna told him. "Wolves are majestic creatures. But save your flattery for other female people."

"Oh, oh, Sheriff Goodhill," Doug told them. "No, no. I mean, yeah. But, you know, we just met. Cufflinks. You know how it is."

"Cuff what?" Jody asked.

"Cufflinks," Doug answered. "It's a dating site for cops. Y--you on it, Donna?"

"Me?" Donna asked. "No. Not quite there yet."

"Oh, you still, uh, getting in date shape, huh?" Doug asked.

Donna was hurt, but playing it off with a joke. "It's more like trying to get through the stuff on my DVR first."

Jody was beyond annoyed. "Oh, for the love of God." She looked at Doug incredulously. "What is wrong with you? You get off on fat-shaming chicks?" She looked at Donna. "You are so not fat, by the way." She looked at Doug. And you?" She pointed a finger into his chest. "You are just a douche."

Doug was surprised, put in his place. "Uh, okay. I'll, uh, uh... okay then."

Doug walked away, leaving.

Donna looked at Jody in surprise. "What the H-E-double hockey sticks, Jody? Calling my ex a douche to his face?"

"It didn't look like you were gonna do it," Jody told her.

"What would be the point?" Donna asked. "We're divorced. You really think I'm gonna change him now?"

"So he gets to treat you like a doormat forever?" Jody asked. "Is that it?"

"How about this?" Donna asked. "Till you've actually lost a husband, you keep your mouth zipped about mine."

Jody gazed off numbly.

Flashback - 5.15 "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid"

Night - Mills House - Living Room

Owen Mills was kneeling over Sean Mills' body on the floor, eating him alive, his mouth and chin bloodstained.

Jody looked on in horror. "Oh, my God."

§

Outside

Sam walked inside.

Catty looked at Jody. "Hey, look at me." She put her hands on Jody's shoulders, turning her to face her, away from the house. "Jody, look at me."

Jody looked at Catty. They could hear a gunshot. Jody closed her eyes, wincing, starting to cry.

Now

Day - Sheriff's Retreat Lodge - Conference Room

Jody was still gazing off.

Donna realized, looking at her in regret. "Did something happen... to your husband?"

"We all have our crosses to bear, right?" Jody asked.

"Hey, I'm sorry if I--" Donna started.

"No, it's fair," Jody told her. "I certainly went there."

"You want to talk about it, or..." Donna trailed off.

"Not right now," Jody answered.

"All right, then," Donna told her. "I'm gonna go get some air."

Donna walked out, leaving. Dean was looking around the gear EXPO, admiring the guns and whatnot. Catty approached Brice at one of the vendor tables.

"Agent," Brice told her. "Are you looking for some teeny-weeny handcuffs to slap on some paws?"

"I think we got off on the wrong foot," Catty told him.

Brice nodded. "Right."

"Well, this investigation that my partners and I are here on, it's--it's big," Catty told him. "And, uh, we're looking for some local help. You know, someone who's not, uh, not afraid to talk shop with the big guns back in DC. Think that might be something you'd be interested in?"

"Might be," Brice answered. "What can I do?"

"Well, first of all, I'm gonna need you to be totally straight with me," Catty told him. "Is there any footage of the attack? Anything?"

Brice hesitated. "Sheriff Cuse changed the password on the server yesterday. It's got the live feed from the traffic camera across the street from where that first vic got attacked. When I went to go check the footage, Sheriff said he'd do it himself."

"Did he say why?" Catty asked.

Brice shook his head. "But, you know, Sheriff's a--a straight shooter. I'm sure he had his reasons."

Catty nodded. "I'm sure he did. All right, well, I appreciate the cooperation, Deputy, and, uh, when I need you, I'll come find you. Okay?"

"All right," Brice told her.

Catty smiled a small smile. "All right."

Outside

Donna was outside, getting some air. She heard a noise, walking around back. Len was crouched over the body of Sheriff Goodhill with his Vampire teeth out. Donna hid behind the porch pillar, silently freaking out. Len ran away, leaving. Donna was in complete shock.

Inside - Lobby

Ness and Jody were talking at the reception desk in the lobby.

"Animal attack, my ass," Ness told her. "You see Sheriff Cuse around?"

"Not since the expo," Jody answered.

"Yeah, me neither," Ness told her.

"How you doing, kiddo?" Jody asked.

"Me?" Ness asked. "Fantastic. Why?"

"Word around the campfire is you went off the rez a couple months back," Jody answered.

"That right?" Ness asked. "You, Sam, Dean and Catty been passing notes during class?" Jody smiled a small smile. Ness sighed. "It's nothing I can't handle."

"Just saying," Jody told her. "I make a mean bowl of chowder if you ever need to talk."

Ness looked at her, nodding. "I appreciate that."

Sam, Dean and Catty walked toward them.

"Hey," Sam told them. "You got something?"

"Uh, well, there was something," Ness told them. "I hacked into the surveillance server, but the files had been deleted."

"I thought you said that Sheriff Cuse was the only one who had access to those files," Jody told them.

Catty saw Donna approaching. "Um, hi."

"Hi," Donna told them. "Jody, can we talk a sec? Alone?"

"Yeah, we'll go--we'll go look around," Dean told them.

Sam, Dean, Catty and Ness walked away, leaving.

Jody looked at Donna. "Okay, first of all, back there, I was wrong to butt in. I know it hurt you, and I'm--I'm sorry."

"What?" Donna asked. "Oh, yeah. 'Quit being a doormat'. Yeah, I hear ya, Jody. It's okay. We're okay. Only... there's something else I can't quite wrap my head around. You ever think there are things out there... things that... don't end up on the police blotter?"

"Can you give me some specifics?" Jody asked.

"Yeah," Donna answered. "Okay. Uh, well, I was--I was kinda far away, so maybe I didn't see it right, but what I think I saw... we were." She tapped her own teeth. "It was Sheriff Cuse. I saw him standing over Sheriff Goodhill's body, and his mouth was full of... shark teeth, like some kind of..."

"Monster?" Jody finished.

Donna nodded solemnly. "You think I'm crazy?"

"Not at all," Jody answered. "Did he see you?"

"No," Donna answered. "I hid, like a chump. You really believe me?"

"Yeah," Jody answered. "So will those guys from the FBI."

"If you say so," Donna told her. "Hey. Yesterday, I saw Cuse taking his stuff into a room down the hall from mine. Must have been... 304."

Jody pulled out her phone, dialing, listening to Sam's voicemail.

Sam: (voicemail) "This is Agent Frehley. Leave me a message."

"Sam, Cuse is our guy," Jody told him. "Donna said she saw him check in to 304. Hit me back."

Jody hung up.

"What now?" Donna asked. "Just let the locals handle it?"

"Oh, trust me," Jody told her. "The locals should not handle this."

§

Room 304

Donna and Jody broke into Len's room, starting to snoop around.

Donna whispered. "Look at all this sunblock. You'd think he's at the Copacabana or something."

"I'll explain later," Jody told her.

Someone started to pick the lock from the other side of the door. Jody pulled out a machete.

Donna drew her gun. "What the heck is that for?"

Sam, Dean, Catty and Ness walked in, wearing normal clothes.

"Whoa," Sam told them. "Whoa. Got your voicemail."

Jody said, "Sheriff Cuse is a Vampire," the same time Donna said, "She just pulled out a machete."

"Donna saw his teeth," Jody told them.

"What the cuss?" Donna asked incredulously. "A Vampire?"

Catty looked at Jody. "You want to give her the talk?"

Jody sighed, turning to face Donna.

Outside - Parking Lot

Sam, Dean, Catty, Ness, Jody, and Donna were outside in the parking lot.

"Heck," Donna told them. "Just... heck."

"We good?" Dean asked.

"Wait," Donna told them. "So, when we were at the weight-loss spa--"

"Monsters," Dean answered. "Sucking on your fat. We took care of them."

"Ah, jeez," Donna told them. "I knew losing ten pounds that fast was too good to be true." She pulled a note out, handing it to Ness. "Here. Maybe this is where Sheriff... Vampire went."

"It could be anything," Ness told them, putting the address into mapquest on her phone.

"What do you got?" Sam asked.

"Looks like it's an old farm outside of town," Ness answered.

"Could be something," Catty told them.

"And it's the only lead we got," Donna told them.

"We?" Sam repeated. "All due respect, Sheriff, but Vampires are far more dangerous than the johns you throw in jail."

"You're gonna sit this one out," Dean told her.

"Stuff you, Dean," Donna told him. "Or whatever your real name is."

"Hanscum's good," Jody told them.

"Jody--" Sam started.

"I said she's good," Jody told them.

Catty sighed. "Okay. All right. But you're staying back. We're taking the lead, okay?"

Donna and Jody got into the Sheriff's Car. Sam, Dean, Catty and Ness got into the Impala. The two cars drove away, leaving.

Old Farm - Outside

The Impala and the Sheriff's Car pulled up. Sam, Catty, Ness,  Dean, Jody and Donna got out of the cars. Catty handed out weapons. They walked toward the buildings.

Dean looked at Donna. "If you're gonna swing, swing hard. With Vamps, head's gotta roll."

"Got it," Donna told them.

Sam peeked in a window, seeing Len.

Len popped up in the window right in front of him. "Run!"

An entire nest of Vampires jumped them, knocking most of them down and unconscious. Three Vampires were restraining Ness. Ness struggled angrily, desperately, as if just being touched by three Vampires made her skin crawl.

The homeless girl from the beginning smirked. "Well, hi, there, sunflower."

Ness glared at them.

Barn

Sam, Dean, Catty, Ness, Jody and Donna were tied to the beams or pillars around the barn, surrounded by the Vampires.

"It's all love," the woman told them. "All of you will become all of us. We won't waste one bit."

"Okay, Mufasa, enough with the 'Circle of Life' crap," Catty told her. "You're a Vampire."

"Mm-hmm," the woman answered.

"You're scum," Ness told them. "End of story."

A male Vampire slid his hands down Ness' waist toward the belt she was wearing, making her cringe and struggle on instinct. Dean started to struggle. The male Vampire took off Ness' belt, still standing close to her tauntingly. Ness glared with a dark look in her eyes. Sam, Dean and Catty exchanged a cautious, guarded look, knowing that this wasn't good.

"Wait," Jody told them. "It's not enough that you kill people? You've got to rob them, too?"

"We scavenge," the woman told them. "We don't sip and go. We use every part of the buffalo."

"And to think I gave you lunch money," Jody told her.

"But you came in time for dinner," the woman told them.

Len looked at the woman. "Starr, please, let them go. I helped you out. I--I ditched the video o--of Catfish killing that man."

"We didn't want favors, Len," Starr told him. "We wanted you."

"What use am I now?" Len asked. "I don't even kill people. I--I'm on bagged blood."

"Uh, I beg your pardon," Donna told him. "I saw you with your Vampire face standing over Sheriff Goodhill."

"No, no, I--I--I found her," Len told them. "I--I s--smelled her blood. I--I couldn't help my--my fangs. But I didn't bite."

"Well, aren't you a hero?" Sam asked sarcastically.

"It's your nature to eat people," Starr told him. "A Vampire who doesn't feed is like a--like a..."

Starr gestured to the male Vampire in front of Ness for an analogy.

The male Vampire stroked a finger along Ness' cheek. "Tiger eating salad."

Ness turned her head away, seeming to be more and more lost with anger with each touch or look from the Vampire.

Dean tilted his head back against the beam behind him worriedly.

"We're not gonna stop, Len," Starr told him. "We'll take down every person in your sweet, little Hibbing till you come back to the nest."

"So, what'd you do, Len?" Sam asked. "You, uh, break up burning man?"

"More like Woodstock," Starr answered. "Len found me crying on the curb after my daddy kicked me out. I got in Len's van, and the rest is wavy gravy."

"So, what?" Jody asked. "Len's like your Charlie Manson?"

"Oh, Charlie couldn't hold a candle to Len," Starr told them. "He taught us everything."

"Yeah, I'm sure it was all Kombucha and Kumbaya," Catty told them sarcastically.

"Liberating, is what it was," Starr told them. "And then, one day, poof. Len's gone."

"Till he landed his photo in the paper," the male Vampire told them. "Stupid."

"For running a police retreat, of all things," Starr told him. "You didn't just go straight. You became a damn cop. Now, that is wild, man. Are you feeling dirty, Len? 'Cause we're about to have ourselves a bloodbath."

"Don't you want to know why I left?" Len asked.

"I already know why," Starr told him. "You got boring."

"I got a conscience," Len told them.

"Oh?" Starr asked.

"Prey that begged for their lives..." Len trailed off. "I--it was like even if I used every part, like I taught you... I mean, it's still wrong."

"So you walked away," Sam told him.

"I tried to protect people," Len told them. "After so many years of... gutting them. That's why I'm here. I'll join your bloody caravan... if it means you won't kill these people."

"We aren't killing anyone," Starr told him. "You are."

"You don't have to do this," Jody told them.

"Kiss my ass," Len told them.

"Mm, we love you, brother," Starr told him. "But we don't know who you are anymore." She used one of their machetes to behead Len, letting the headless body fall. "Can't say we didn't try."

Starr let the machete fall next to Len's head.

Ness was finally angry enough, struggling enough that she broke free of her ropes without cutting into them with anything, grabbing the machete from the ground, decapitating the male Vampire in front of her, killing him, watching the headless body with more pleasure than she wanted to feel. She spun around to behead the other coming after her, watching headless bodies fall.

Starr tried to retaliate. Jody used her foot to trip her, making her fall. Sam broke free, grabbing a machete, decapitating a Vampire instantly. A Vampire lunged for him. Sam slashed toward him, with the machete. The Vampire caught the blade, twisting it out of his grip.

Catty was free, decapitating the Vampire from behind, killing him. She caught the machete as it fell, tossing it to Sam. Sam and Catty turned their backs to each other to face the oncoming Vampires on either side of them, both of them decapitating one, watching the headless bodies fall in front of them.

Starr started to stand. Two Vampires grabbed Ness from behind, restraining her. Ness struggled angrily.

Dean broke free, beheading one of the Vampires restraining Ness before he could attack. They watched the body fall. Ness picked up her machete from the ground, running the blade through the stomach of the other Vampire restraining her, taking it out, making him double over. Dean swung his machete down to decapitate him, killing him. They watched the body fall, breathing heavily, looking at each other.

Starr hissed at Jody, lunging for a bite.

Donna had broken free, standing behind Starr, beheading her with her machete, killing her, blood splashing her face, watching the body fall. "Hakuna matata, lady."

They were all impressed with and surprised at Donna.

"That's what I'm talking about," Dean told her.

Donna looked over her shoulder toward Ness and Dean, smiling.

Outside

Jody and Donna stood at the hood of the Impala. Sam and Catty stood at the trunk, packing up the trunk. Dean and Ness were talking further away from the car.

Jody looked at Donna. "You okay?"

"Yeah," Donna answered. "Other than feeling like I want to hurl, sure. I just... chopped off... a Vampire's head."

"You were great at that," Jody told her.

"Thanks," Donna told her.

Dean looked at Ness. "You good?"

Ness nodded. "Yeah." She sighed. "I mean, it was harder to control this time, because of the monsters that we were facing. I mean, the Mark was still pushing me, but... I fought so hard for control, and I kept it, even if I was so close to losing it."

Donna looked at Jody. "Knowing that these things are out there makes the world seem... I don't know... bigger. Darker."

Ness looked at Dean. "All I know is, back there, killing those Vampires... I felt dark and twisted. Like it was happening all over again."

Dean looked at her in concern.

Jody looked at Donna. "You know, if you want any pointers on how to fight this crazy crap, I'm willing to fill you in. You know, what kills what."

"I'd like that," Donna told her.

Dean looked at Ness. "So you're saying that when the Vamps had you..."

"All I could see was Purgatory," Ness answered. "But... it was different." She had trouble finding the right words to say to explain in the right way. "Like it wasn't over, but after, when they were all dead... it felt like... closure, I guess. Like I can do better."

Dean nodded cautiously. "Okay. Well, let's go with that."

Donna and Jody got into their Sheriff's car.

Ness had a moment where she felt the Mark on her arm.

Sam and Catty exchanged a look. Dean got into the driver's seat of the Impala. Sam got into the passenger seat. Ness and Catty got into the backseats. The Impala and the Sheriff's Car drove away, leaving.
