chapter 13 - Halt & Catch Fire

THEN
From 1.05 "Bloody Mary", in the Shoemaker House, the blonde teenage Charlie looked at Sam, Dean and Catty. "Who are you, cops?"
Sam, Dean and Catty exchanged a look.
From 10.08 "Hibbing 911", in the barn, Catty was free, decapitating a Vampire from behind, killing him. She caught the machete as it fell, tossing it to Sam. Sam and Catty turned their backs to each other to face the oncoming Vampires on either side of them, both of them decapitating one, watching the headless bodies fall in front of them. Two Vampires grabbed Ness from behind, restraining her. Dean broke free, beheading one of the Vampires restraining her before he could attack. They watched the body fall. Ness picked up her machete from the ground, running the blade through the stomach of the other Vampire restraining her, taking it out, making him double over. Dean swung his machete down to decapitate him, killing him.
From 6.03 "The Third One", in the motel room, Castiel pushed the Angel away. The Angel held both blades up for Castiel to see, chuckling, running toward him, trying to stab him. Castiel side-stepped to make him miss, hitting the blades out of his hands, toward Ness, Dean, Sam and Catty, pushing the Angel away, grabbing him, running toward the window. They shattered through the window, falling slowly toward the ground below, glass raining down around them.
From 10.03 "Soul Survivor", outside the gas station, Adina slashed her Angel Blade toward Octavia. Octavia spun away to make her miss, turning to face her. Adina raised her blade to try to stab her repeatedly. Octavia kept her Angel Sword raised to block her every move, twisting the sword around her Angel Blade, pulling it free, the force making Adina spin horizontally through the air and fall to the ground.
From 10.12 "Girls Chase Boys", in the Witch's house's kitchen, Sabrina looked at Hansel, focusing extremely hard. Hansel started to choke. He gasped for breath, unable to breath. He flashed with dim light, falling to the floor, dead. The Witch took the knife from the counter behind her, raising it over her head to try to stab Sabrina. Sabrina caught her wrist, pulling on her arm hard enough to make her flip to the floor. She pushed her inside the fiery oven, closing the door, letting her burn.
From 1.05 "Bloody Mary", in the Shoemaker House's hallway, Sam, Dean and Catty looked at Charlie.
"Something like that," Dean told her.
From 10.10 "The Hunter Games", in the Bunker's library, Sam, Dean, Catty, Ness, Castiel, Octavia and Sabrina were talking.
Ness looked at the Mark on her arm. "Guys, this thing's gotta go."
"It will take a very powerful force to remove the effect," Castiel told her.
From 10.10 "The Hunter Games", in the Bunker's library, Ness and Dean were talking.
"Cain still has the Mark, right?" Ness asked. Dean nodded. "And he's lived with it."
From 10.10 "The Hunter Games", Ness' memories about killing the men from 10.02 Reichenbach and 10.09 The Things We Left Behind.
Ness: (voice over from 10.10 The Hunter Games) "There's a part of me that wants to give in."
From 10.10 "The Hunter Games", in the Bunker's dungeon, Ness looked as if every party of her wanted to stab the Angel Blade into Metatron's heart like he had done to her. She struggled not to, breathing heavily, closing her eyes.
From 10.11 "There's No Place Like Home", outside Clive Dillon's House, Ness stayed on the ground so she didn't have the urge to get up and keep fighting, even though that was all she wanted to do. She turned her head away, breathing heavily, closing her fists around the ground to stay down and not fight.
Ness: (voice over from 10.10 The Hunter Games) "And I've been fighting it, you know?"
From 10.10 "The Hunter Games", in the Bunker's library, Ness and Dean were talking.
"Part of that powerful force has to be me," Ness told him.
Dean nodded in understanding.
From 3.05 "Bedtime Stories", in 'Cinderella's House, Young Callie Garrison was standing in the living room, flickering in and out of focus, disappearing. Catty looked away in slight annoyance.
Tessa The Reaper: (voice over from 2.01 In My Time of Dying) "How do you think angry Spirits are born?"
From 7.23 "Survival of the Fittest", in Rufus' Cabin's basement, Ness took the leather cover off of Bobby's Flask, holding it over the coals on the table, hesitating, looking at Bobby. Bobby nodded.
Tessa: (voice over from 2.01 In My Time of Dying) "They can't let go."
Ness hesitantly placed the flask on the coals.
Tessa: (voice over from 2.01 In My Time of Dying) "And they can't move on."
Ness, Sam, Dean and Catty watched as the heat slowly melted the metal of the flask, looking at Bobby, the light of him burning up reflected on their faces.
From 5.12 "Swap Meat", in Isaiah Pickett's House's basement, the Ghost of Maggie Briggs appeared, rushing toward Dean angrily. Before she could touch Dean, she burned out of existence. Dean looked toward Catty. Catty was standing over the burning grave.
From 2.16 "Road Kill", in the house, Catty and Molly McNamara were sitting on the bed.
"Like wounded animals," Catty told her. "Lost. In so much pain, that they lash out."
"Why?" Molly asked. "Why are they here?"
From 2.22 "All Hell Breaks Loose: Part 2", in the cemetery, John started to glow in a bright white light, flickering, disappearing.
Catty: (voice over from 2.16 Roadkill) "Well, there's some part of them that... that's keeping them here. Some Spirits hold on too tight."
From 10.12 "Girls Chase Boys", outside the bus station, the Winchesters stood at the Impala.
"Look, Ness, do I wish the Mark was gone?" Dean asked. "Yes, of course. Absolutely, I do."
"We'll figure it out," Sabrina told them. "We always do."
Sam nodded in agreement. "Damn right."

Day One
Spencer, Iowa
Night - On the Road
(Song:) Head Full of Doubt/Road Full of Promise - The Avett Brothers
A pickup truck with the license plate SEMPERFI was driving down the road.
§
Truck
A teenage boy was driving the car.
The teenage girl was in the passenger seat. "You sure you're okay to drive?"
"Not really," the boy answered. "But it's nothing a little grease can't fix." He spoke to his phone mounted in the truck. "Trini, find me the nearest Taco Town."
Trini: (voice of the phone navigation app) "Searching..."
"Oh, I'm going to get a quesarito and a chi-chi melt," the girl told him.
Trini: "Turn right in 50 feet."
"Um, Billy, I don't think this is the way to Taco Town," the girl told him.
"What do you know?" Billy asked. "Your phone's 3g. Trini doesn't make mistakes."
Trini: "Continue for .3 miles, then turn left."
"It's freezing," the girl told him. "Can you please turn off the air?"
"It's not on," Billy told her. They reached a road block, coming to a stop. "What the hell?"
"Trini doesn't make mistakes, huh?" the girl asked sarcastically.
"Trini, find a different route," Billy told her.
Trini: "Proceed ahead."
"Go screw yourself," Billy told her.
Trini: "You go screw yourself. Janet, get out of the truck."
Janet and Billy were both in shock.
"Um, how does she know my name?" Janet asked.
Trini: "Janet, get out of the truck, now!"
Janet was frightened, getting out of the car. "Oh, my God."
Billy tried to open the driver's door, but the lock locked itself. He couldn't unlock it. He tried to get out of the passenger door, but the door closed on its own, and it locked. The truck began to drive on its own. "No, wait! Stop!"
§
Outside
Janet watched helplessly, unable to do anything. "Billy!"
§
Truck
Billy slammed on the brakes, trying to stop the truck as it crashed through the barricade. "No! No!" The truck continued speeding ahead as he tried to steer and stop. "No! Help! Stop!"
Trini: "Destination dead ahead."
(Song Ends)
§
Outside
Janet screamed as the truck crashed through another barricade and drove off the bridge.

Day Two
Lebanon, Kansas
Day - The Bunker - Map
Catty walked into the Bunker, eating, walking downstairs toward the library.
§
Library
Ness, Sam and Dean were there. Catty walked in.
"Hey," Ness told her. She noticed what she was eating. "What in the world?"
"A croissokie," Catty answered.
"A croissookie?" Ness repeated.
"Mm-hmm," Catty answered. "Well, that's what Sabrina calls it. She was mixing snack foods when we were on the run and made me try it once. Fell in love with it."
"Okay," Sam told her. "So, what? Half croissant, half cookie?"
"Yep," Catty answered. "They're freaking awesome."
Catty took a bite.
"Speaking of Sabrina, what did she, Cas and Ava say?" Dean asked.
"Uh, bad news," Catty told them. Sam took his phone out of his pocket. "Cas discovered riverboat gambling."
"Well, I have good news," Sam told them. "Ava thinks she might be closing in on Cain."
Dean nodded sarcastically. "Oh, wow. Ava thinks she might be."
"Yeah," Sam answered. "Ava said Cain's just east of Mississippi somewhere in Illinois."
"So, maybe they find Cain in the land of Lincoln," Ness told them. "And then what?"
Dean took a drink of coffee.
"And then we get him to tell us how to get rid of the Mark," Sam answered.
"Don't you think that if Cain knew how to remove the Mark, he would have done it, like, centuries ago?" Ness asked.
"We don't know till we try," Sam told them.
Ness nodded. "I found a case. Hmm? Check this out. Iowa teen claims possessed pickup kills driver." She held up the tablet with the headline from the Iowa Weekly Review. "Let's say we take our own trek to, uh, the Midwest."
§
Spencer, Iowa
Kasem College - Camps
The Impala pulled up and parked in a parking lot by a Kasem College sign. Ness, Sam, Catty and Dean got out, posing as FBI.
Dean looked around at the coeds passing by. "God, they're everywhere."
§
Dorm Building
Ness, Sam, Catty and Dean walked in. Two girls were heading down the stairs, one of them Janet.
"Uh, which one of you is Janet Novoselic?" Catty asked.
"I am," Janet answered.
They showed them their fake FBI badges.
"Agents Mayfield, Grohl, Cobain, Krist," Catty told them.
The other girl looked at Janet. "Bye."
The girl walked away, leaving.
Janet looked at Ness, Sam, Catty and Dean. "I already talked to the police, like, nine times."
"Yeah, no, this is, uh--it's, uh, just a follow-up," Dean told her.
Ness nodded. "Yeah."
"I have finals tomorrow," Janet told them.
"Then we'll make it fast," Sam told her. "I promise."
§
Library
They were in the college library, sitting around a table.
"It's like I told the detective," Janet told them. "I was drunk, but I wasn't hallucinating. The truck had a mind of its own."
"How so?" Dean asked.
"Like, the air went full blast even though it wasn't on, and the radio went crazy, and so did Trini," Janet answered.
"And Trini is?" Dean asked.
"Ah, you have to excuse my partner," Ness told her. "When it comes to technology, he's a little behind. Uh, he just learned how to poke on Facebook."
Dean looked at Ness.
Janet looked at Dean weirdly. "Uh, um, Trini is the nav app we were using. It--it's like a talking map. You're Gen X, right?"
"Okay, so Trini and everything else in the truck went all 'Christine'?" Dean asked.
"Who's Christine?" Janet asked.
Dean shook his head. "It's a Gen X thing."
"Look, I don't expect you to believe me," Janet told them. "But, I swear, that truck was hell-bent on killing Billy."
"Did Billy have any enemies?" Sam asked. "Anybody who might have had a beef with him?"
"Maybe his brother, Joey," Janet answered. "They fought all the time. It's so sad. They never got to set it right."
"Because Billy died?" Catty asked.
"No," Janet answered. "Joey did. In Afghanistan."
"Do you know where he's buried?" Sam asked.
"He's not," Janet answered. "Poor guy never came home. IED."
"Did Billy happen to have anything of his brother's on him when he died?" Dean asked. "Uh, dog tags, a hat, something?"
"Just his pickup," Janet answered.
"So, the truck belonged to Joey?" Catty asked.
"Yeah," Janet answered. "It was his pride and joy. Billy got it when he died, and you know. It's a thing."
Ness nodded. "Yeah."
Janet's phone rang. "Excuse me a sec."
Janet picked up her phone, walking away, leaving.
"So, what's a thing?" Sam asked.
"You know, the truck thing," Ness answered. Sam shook his head in confusion. "You honor the deceased by driving their truck." Sam still looked confused. "Sam, they wrote a whole country song about it."
"See, this is why I don't have to know a thing about technology," Dean told them. "I have Google for a wife."
Ness smiled a small smile, shaking her head.
§
Night - Car Impound Lot
Sam, Dean, Catty and Ness broke into the impound lot, walking along.
"All right, so we're looking for something that used to resemble a pickup truck," Sam told them.
"All right, hey, here we go," Ness told them. We approached the crashed truck, shining their flashlights on the SEMPERF license plate. "Yeah, Marine."
Sam shone his flashlight on the driver's seat. "I'm guessing this ain't oil."
"That is Ectoplasm," Ness answered.
"Huh," Sam told them, holding up his flashing EMF meter as it went off. "Look at this. Joey?"
"Looks like it," Catty told them.
Sam nodded in agreement. "Yeah."
"All right, so big brother didn't get along with little brother," Dean told them. "Was pissed that he was driving his baby. I get it."
"What are you saying?" Sam asked. "If you died, and I drove your car, you'd kill me?"
Dean shrugged. "If you stunk her up with taquitos, probably. All right, let's do this."
Sam poured salt over the truck.
Dean poured gasoline over the truck.
Catty and Ness stood on either side of the trunk. They each struck a match, tossing them inside, setting it ablaze.
They watched the truck burn.
§
Kasem College - Sorority House - Girls' Room
(Song:) 64 Redcliffe Gardens - Hazelden
Two girls were watching TV.
Man: (on TV) "Makes it look like a--a pool in Reseda."
Girl 1 groaned, turning off the TV. "Ugh. I can't believe our Art History final's tomorrow."
"I know," Girl 2 told her. "This semester, like, totally flew by."
"Yeah, time flies when you're drunk," Girl 1 told her, gathering up a few books and notebooks in a bag. "Want to come to the library with me? I still have so much to memorize. And I thought looking at pictures of naked guys was gonna be easy."
"Thanks, but I don't really need to study for it," Girl 2 told her. "I have a photographic memory. #blessed."
"Um, you don't need to study for it because you're screwing the TA," Girl 1 told her. "#slut."
"Ha," Girl 2 told her sarcastically.
Girl 1 walked out, leaving. Girl 2 put on a Kappa Delta Lamda baseball cap, taking a few selfies. She uploaded the selfies using her phone. She got a chat request on her laptop from PrincessElsa8. She took off her hat, accepting the request. Her profile said her name was Julie Miller. The chat looked like:
Julie: who are you?
PrincessElsa8: a friend
Julie: #curious. what's up friend?
PrincessElsa8: nm, liar
Julie: #confused! What did I lie about?
PrincessElsa8: 810
Julie gasped.
PrincessElsa8: I know. You'll pay
Julie deleted the chat conversation. The chat with PrincessElsa8: 810 came back on her screen. Julie turned off her computer. The computer turned back on to the chat. Julie unplugged her computer and the power cord, breathing heavily. Her breath was visible. Her computer screen filled with 810. Julie closed the laptop, turning toward the door. The door slammed closed. The laptop lid opened by itself. The screen continued to show 810. Julie turned around, screaming. The laptop cord was hissing like a snake, circling around Julie's throat, strangling her. She coughed and gasped for breath. Her skin started to turn blue and purple. She fell to the floor, dead.
§
Day Three
Day - Kasem College - Campus
Sam, Dean, Catty and Ness walked along the campus, posing as FBI.
§
Sorority House - Julie and Other Girl's Room
Sam, Dean, Catty and Ness walked in.
A detective ducked under yellow crime scene tape, walking toward them. "Delilah Marian, the roommate, found her this morning after an all-nighter at the library."
"Strangulation?" Sam asked.
"Sicko used the power cord from the computer," the detective told them.
"Suspects?" Dean asked.
"None yet," the detective answered. "The odd thing was the door was locked."
Catty nodded. "Hmm. Have you talked to any of the other girls who live here?"
"Well, most of them have already left for spring break," the detective told them. "But the roommate was really helpful. She gave us all of Julie's passwords. And nowadays, the only way to find out anything about teenagers is through social media. Trust me, I got two of them. Excuse me, agents."
The detective walked out, leaving.
"Vengeful Spirit, much?" Ness asked, taking out her EMF meter.
The meter flashed, beeping.
"Yeah, but is it Joey's or another Ghost?" Sam asked.
"I don't know," Ness told them, holding the EMF meter by the laptop. It went off louder than before. "So, first it possesses a--a truck, and then it possesses a computer? Both machine-related kills."
"So, what?" Dean asked. "You think we're dealing with a 'Ghost in the Machine'?"
"Maybe," Catty answered. "But if it is the same Ghost, I mean, they usually anchor themselves to a place or a thing. How is this one jumping from one machine to the next?"
Sam picked up the laptop.
§
Lobby
They were talking to Delilah (Girl 1, the roommate) in the lobby.
"We really appreciate your help, Delilah," Sam told her. "We know this can't possibly be easy. Did Julie, by chance, know a student named Billy Bass?"
"Everyone knew Billy," Delilah told them. "He was the president of Sigma Theta Delta."
"STD?" Catty asked skeptically.
"Yeah," Delilah answered. "It's the biggest frat on campus."
"Did, uh, did Julie know Billy's brother Joey, the--the soldier?" Ness asked.
"I don't think so," Delilah told them. "I didn't even know Billy had a brother."
"Did she have any enemies?" Sam asked. "Any reason why someone might want to hurt her?"
Delilah shook her head. "No. Julie was really popular, super-sweet. I can't imagine anyone wanting to hurt her."
"You know we're federal agents, right?" Dean asked. "Lying to us is a big-time offense."
"I'm not lying, agents," Delilah told them. "There's just... nothing else to tell."
§
College Cafeteria
Ness and Catty were sitting at a table in the college cafeteria. Ness was going through Julie's laptop. Dean and Sam were carrying trays full of food and drinks toward them.
"All right," Sam told them. "And a cafe au lait for the ladies."
Sam handed Ness and Catty a coffee.
Dean picked up his food. "For me..."
Sam looked at the food. "A heart attack?"
"This is unreal," Dean told them. "Look at this. I got Italian. I got Chinese. Serve yourself froyo. What do you got?"
"Unfortunately, a lot of nada," Ness answered. "I--I..." Dean was eating noodles, pieces hanging out of his mouth. "I hit up Julie's Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Instachat, Snapchat, A.I.M. Nothing but posts on Rush and 'Fifty Shades of Grey', the movie, not the book."
"Yeah, I didn't get half of that," Catty told her.
"It doesn't matter," Ness told them. "Now I'm going through her deleted files."
"You can do that?" Dean asked.
"Yeah," Ness answered. "I mean, nothing ever really gets deleted from the Internet. You knew that, right?"
Dean nodded unconvincingly. "Yeah."
"All right, here we go," Ness told them. "This might be something. It's a, uh... it's a deleted Instachat from last night right around time of death."
"With who?" Catty asked.
"With PrincessElsa8," Ness answered, turning the laptop to face them. "Look at this."
Catty read the chat messages. "Liar. I know. You'll pay. Well, this Princess Elsa's a bitch. What's 810?"
"810?" Sam repeated.
"Yeah," Catty answered.
"Uh, it's a..." Sam trailed off. "I don't know. Maybe it's a date."
"Maybe it's a time of day," Dean told them. "Or an area code."
"Uh, area code is for southeast Michigan," Ness told them. "You know what? Here we go. There are three addresses in Spencer that have 810 in them."
Dean looked at his food. "I'll see if I can get this to go."
§
Street
The Impala pulled up across the street from a mailbox with 810 Downs Drive written on it.
§
The Impala
Dean was in the driver's seat, parking. Ness was in the passenger seat. Sam and Catty were in the backseat.
Sam was on the phone. "Yeah. You got it. Thank you, Detective Petranzyk. We will keep in touch." He hung up. "So, PrincessElsa8 is not some crazed cyber killer. She is a third-grader from Lake Nebagamon, Wisconsin, who is obsessed with 'Frozen'. And she was fast asleep when the Instachat occurred."
"So, a hack job," Dean told them.
"That's what I'm thinking," Catty told them.
They saw a woman walk out of the house at 810 Downs Drive carrying a plastic garbage bag. She walked down the block. They got out of the Impala, following.
§
Street
The woman picked up bouquets of flowers by a utility pole, putting them in the garbage bag. Ness, Sam, Dean and Catty showed her their fake badges.
"Excuse me, ma'am," Sam told her. "May we, uh, ask what you're doing?"
"Um, throwing away dead flowers," the woman answered. "Is that a crime?"
"Well, it's not a crime, just a little strange, uh, seeing as how they aren't dead," Dean told her.
"It's not so strange when it feels like they're taunting you," the woman told them. "My husband was killed in a car accident here nine months ago."
"I'm sorry to hear that," Ness told her. "Our condolences."
"Thank you," the woman told them. "We were newlyweds. Never even made it to our first anniversary. And to have to be reminded of that every time I look out my window or leave the house..."
"Understandable," Dean told her.
"Forgive me, but did you notice anything... weird after your husband's death?" Sam asked. "Any strange disturbances, or..."
"I'm not sure what you mean," the woman told them.
"It's nothing," Sam told her. "Never mind."
"Any idea who's leaving the flowers?" Catty asked.
"Some teenage girl," the woman answered. "I think she goes to the college, 'cause she's always in Greek letters."
"Do you know her name?" Sam asked.
"No," the woman answered. "Uh, she has long red hair."
§
Cafe - Outside
Sam, Dean, Ness and Catty were sitting outside a cafe at a table.
Dean was on his phone. "This is Agent Grohl again. Listen, I know I told you to call at your earliest convenience, but scratch that. Call ASAP."
Ness was reading off his tablet. "Look at this. Uh, Andrew Silver, 29-year-old Spencer High School teacher killed in fatal accident. Uh, car burst into flames. Silver's body was burned beyond recognition. And he is believed to have been killed upon impact."
"Okay," Dean told them. "So, Andy the angry Ghost, he dies at 810 Downs Drive. And then he torments Julie with 810 on her computer. So, what's his beef with her?"
"Yeah, and what's his connection to Billy?" Catty asked. She looked at Ness. "Does it say where he's buried?"
"He wasn't," Ness answered. "He was cremated."
"So, no bones, and he's not tethered to any object that we know of," Dean told them.
"Yeah," Sam agreed. "How is Andrew haunting his victims?"
Ness looked at Dean's food. "Are you gonna eat all that?"
"Yeah," Dean answered. "You want some?"
Ness took some of Dean's food to eat. Sam, Dean and Catty were slightly surprised, shrugging it off.
§
Kasem College - Fraternity House - Boy's Room
(Song:) Work, Breed, Consume - Against Empire
A boy was scrolling through Sext'r on his phone.
Delilah was standing nearby. "The Feds called, like, three times already. Kyle, are you listening to me? I think they know. Maybe it's time we should come clean."
"Uh, that's not gonna happen," Kyle told her.
"Look where keeping our moths shut got us," Delilah told him. "I think it's karma. Maybe we're being cursed or something. It don't know. First Billy, now Julie?"
"Look, it totally sucks that Billy and Julie died," Kyle told her. "But it's just a crappy coincidence. Not a curse."
"If we don't do something, I'm worried--" Delilah started.
"Delilah, stop," Kyle told her. "I'm serious. You better keep your mouth shut or you're gonna have a lot more than a curse to worry about."
Delilah glared at him, walking out, leaving. Kyle went back to Sext'r, accepting a message from QTPie.
QTPie: I'm bored. Wanna hook up?
Kyle smirked. "Hells, yeah."
Kyle: Hells yeah! Come over STD.
QTPie: Guess we're using condoms LOL
Kyle muttered under his breath. "Where are you?"
Kyle: Don't worry. I'm clean. But hope we can get dirty. Where r u?
There was a knock on the door.
Kyle stood, walking toward the door to open it, but no one was there. He looked out into the hallway toward a boy walking by in a towel. "Was that you?"
"No," the boy answered.
Kyle closed the door. "Tease." His phone ran. He answered. "Hello?"
A man's voice yelled on the other line. "What time is it?"
Kyle looked at the time on the stereo. 8:10. The stereo started to get extremely loud, the knobs being turned on their own.
Kyle held his head in pain. "Who the hell is this?"
§
Hallway
The boy in the towel knocked on the door. "Lower the tunes, brah! Trying to study."
§
Kyle's Room
The stereo was blasting. Kyle was screaming in pain. His eyes, ears and nose were bleeding. The windows shattered, all of the glass falling everywhere. Kyle fell to the floor, dead.
§
Sorority House - Delilah's Room
Catty and Ness were with Delilah, in normal clothes.
"Are you okay?" Catty asked.
"Not really," Delilah answered.
Dean and Sam walked in, in normal clothes.
"Hey," Ness told him. "What do you got?"
"Death by decibel," Dean answered.
"What?" Catty asked
"Kyle's brains were jellied by his speakers," Dean explained. "Oh, and get this. The, uh--the clock on his stereo stopped at 8:10."
"8:10?" Catty repeated.
"Yeah," Dean answered.
"Again?" Ness asked.
"Mm-hmm," Dean answered. He looked at Delilah. "Look, we know you're the one leaving the flowers. So, why don't you just tell us what happened the night of Andrew Silver's accident?"
"Uh..." Delilah trailed off.
"Delilah, please," Ness told her. "This is the third death in five days. Who knows who's gonna be next?"
"I am," Delilah answered. "The car accident... wasn't exactly an accident."
§
Flashback
Night - On the Road - Billy's Truck
Billy was driving. Kyle was in the passenger seat. Delilah and Julie were in the backseat. They were all using their phones.
Billy looked at Kyle. "Dude, I just retweeted your Tweet."
"Dude, I just favorited yours," Kyle told him.
Julie looked at Delilah. "Okay, here."
Julie held up her phone to take a picture of her and Delilah.
Delilah smiled. "Oh, selfie."
Delilah and Julie both smiled.
Julie took the picture, looking at the selfie. "OMG, I'm such a hag. I look like I'm 25."
"Oh, that's what filters are for," Delilah told her.
Julie groaned. "Ew. Delete."
"Check this," Kyle told them. "Wait, I'm sending it to you, dude. Here."
Billy almost hit another car head-on, hearing the horn, swerving out of the way. The other car hit the utility pole.
"Oh, my God," Delilah told him. "Billy, call 911." The man in the other car, Andrew, was bloody, looking out his window toward them. "Call 9--Call 911!" A wire dropped onto Andrew's car, sparks setting the car on fire. Andrew couldn't get out of the car, burning alive, screaming in agony. Delilah and Julie screamed. Billy drove away as fast as he could. "What the hell are you doing?"
"I'm getting out of here before the cops come," Billy answered.
"We--we just killed that guy," Delilah told them, starting to dial on her phone.
Billy took her phone away. "No! Hey, you're not calling the cops. 'Cause I already have a DUI, and if they find out I'm driving on a suspended license, I'm going to jail."
"Come on, Billy," Delilah told him. "This isn't right. Help me out here, guys."
"It's not our problem, D," Julie told her.
"What?" Delilah asked incredulously.
"Someone else will call the cops," Kyle told her.
"Not a word," Billy told them. "You hear me?"
§
Now
Night - Sorority House - Delilah's Room
Delilah shook her head, ashamed, emotional. "I shouldn't have let them talk me out of it. It was wrong. And now we're being punished." Sam took four containers of salt out of the duffle bag, handing Dean, Ness and Catty each one. "Seriously, what are the chances that three out of the four of us die in one week? It can't be coincidence."
Dean was sprinkling a salt line along the doorway. Sam and Ness were sprinkling lines of salt along the windows.
"It's not a coincidence," Sam told her. "It's a Ghost."
Catty was sprinkling a circle of salt around a chair.
"It's the Vengeful Spirit of Andrew Silver," Dean told her.
"A Ghost?" Delilah repeated.
"Yeah, they're real," Catty answered.
"Yeah, it's sort of what we do," Dean told her.
"So, you're like... Ghostbusters?" Delilah asked.
"Sure," Catty told her. "First things first, though. You need to stay inside the salt circle while we take care of him, okay?"
"How do you take care of him?" Delilah asked. "Please tell me you know how to take care of him."
"Usually a Ghost is tied to a place or an object," Ness told her. "You get rid of the object, you get rid of the Ghost. But with Andrew, it's, uh, it's different."
"What's he tied to?" Delilah asked.
"We're working on it," Dean told her.
"But, if we can figure out how he's traveling, we can figure out how to stop him," Sam told her.
"You know, this might be a 'Shocker' situation," Ness told them. "The paper said that he died from a collision, but Delilah says that he died from electrocution. So, maybe that's how he's surfing. He's using the power lines as a conduit."
"I mean, that would make sense with the computer and the stereo kills, but not the pickup," Sam told them. "I mean, the truck runs on gas."
"All right, it's got to be something else, then," Dean told them.
Sam looked at Dean. "All right, why don't you and I go back to the accident site, check it out?" Dean nodded. Sam looked at Catty and Ness. "Stay here with her."
Sam and Dean walked out, leaving. Catty stood by the door, taking out an iron crowbar from the duffel bag.
Ness sat next to Delilah, handing her a tissue box. "You getting tired?"
"No," Delilah answered. "I'm used to it. I stay up all night studying. Mostly to avoid the nightmares. My mom's thrilled with my GPA, but I'm just... miserable. I think about Andrew all the time. And I've never even met the guy. It's pretty crazy to obsess over someone you've never met."

Street
Sam and Dean walked up to the utility pole. Dean shone his flashlight up to the wires, then across to a cell tower. Sam and Dean both realized, looking at each other.

Sorority House - Delilah's Room
Catty looked at Delilah, shaking her head. "It's not that crazy. The truth is, we can relate."
"Really?" Delilah asked.
Ness nodded. "I have made more mistakes than I count. Ones that haunt me day and night."
Catty looked down. "And I... we've both lost a lot of people, and some of it is due to our mistakes. And believe me, the nightmares? We get it. We both do."
"So, how do you deal?" Delilah asked.
Catty shrugged. "Whiskey. Denial."
Ness shook her head, looking down. "I do my best to make things right, whatever that may be. For you, maybe it's... maybe it's coming clean. You know, finding a way to ask for forgiveness. But not breaking the bank at your local florist. I mean... real forgiveness. You can't just bury stuff like this. You got to deal with it."
Catty's phone rang. She pulled it out, seeing it was Sam calling, answering. "Hey, what do you got?"
"Catty, Andrew's not using power lines to move," Sam told her. "He's using WiFi."
"Come again?" Catty asked.
"The--the wires that electrocuted Andrew, they--they feed directly into a WiFi tower right across the street," Sam explained.
"So, even Ghosts are online?" Catty asked, turning to face Ness with a you got to be kidding me look.
Ness realized what it meant, sighing.
"Apparently," Sam answered. "I mean, it would explain the truck kill. Bill's cell must have been using the local WiFi signal, so, uh, Andrew's Ghost must have just hopped on to Trini, that--that nav app."
"And then Julie's death by computer, Kyle's death by stereo with the wireless speakers," Dean told them.
"I mean, it makes sense, Catty," Ness told her."We're all just a bunch of electrical impulses, right? So, wherever Andrew died, his impulses just transferred to another current."
"You guys got to get Delilah somewhere safe," Sam told them. "Turn off all the routers in that sorority."
"Oh, yeah," Ness told him sarcastically. "Sure, Sammy. We'll just kill the Internet."
"Wait, can we?" Dean asked.
"No, not really," Ness answered.
"All right, so then how the hell are we gonna deal with the lawnmower man?" Catty asked.
Dean looked across the street toward the Silver House, looking at Sam. "You know what? I have an idea." He took Sam's phone to speak to the girls. "Do what Sammy said. Stay safe. We'll call you back."
Catty hung up, turning to Delilah. "You know where the routers are?"
"I have no idea," Delilah answered. The lights and the computers started to flash on and off. They exhaled. Their breath was visible. Andrew appeared on all the devices. Delilah screamed. Catty started to smash all the screens with the crowbar. "Is that gonna work?"
"Worth a try," Catty told them.
"Need you to turn off everything that's connected to WiFi," Ness told them.
Delilah looked at the screen of her phone. Andrew was in the screen. Catty took Delilah's phone, smashing it with the crowbar. She took Ness', smashing it. She put hers down, smashing it.

Silver House - Outside
Sam and Dean were waiting. Mrs. Silver opened the door.
"Hey," Dean told her.
"Hey," Mrs. Silver told them.
"Uh, I'm so sorry to bother you, Mrs. Silver, but we have an emergency, and we really need your help," Sam told her. "Now, this is gonna sound strange..."
"It's my husband, isn't it?" Mrs. Silver asked. Sam and Dean were surprised she knew. "Come in."
§
Sorority House - Delilah's Room
Ness grabbed the duffel, nodding to the door. "Come on. Let's go."
"Where are we going?" Delilah asked.
They walked out into the hallway.
§
Hallway
Andrew was on the computers in the rooms.
"Someplace that doesn't have a WiFi signal," Ness answered.
"The basement," Delilah told them. "The reception sucks down there."
They ran down the hall, seeing Andrew on the computer screens in all the rooms they ran past.
"All right, go, go, go," Catty told them. They ran down the stairs. "Go, go, go. Run, run."
§
Basement
Catty, Ness and Delilah reached the basement. Ness closed the door, pouring salt in front of the doorway.
"I thought the salt didn't work," Delilah told them.
"Because of the WiFi," Ness told her. "There's no signal down here. There's no tablets. There's no cellphones, so Andrew can't bypass it." She salted the basement window. "At least, I don't think he can."
§
Silver House - Living Room
Mrs. Silver was explaining to Sam and Dean. "It wasn't too long after the accident that Andrew started contacting me."
"Contacting you how?" Sam asked.
"Online," Mrs. Silver answered. "At first, I thought it was a joke. That someone was playing a cruel joke on a grieving widow. But Andrew knew things, things that only he and I would know. Inside jokes, the code to our alarm, my obsession with Lifetime movies. It was then that I knew I had my husband back, even if it was just online."
"Did you never think to ask him what he was?" Dean asked.
"Come on, agents," Mrs. Silver told them. "I've read the books. I've seen the movies. I knew he was a Ghost, or something, but... I didn't care. He was my husband. And... it was great. Romantic, even. He'd send me love notes. We'd stay up all night reminiscing. But then, he started acting strange."
"What do you mean, strange?" Dean asked.
"I don't know," Mrs. Silver told them. "He'd just disappear, radio silence. And then, out of nowhere, he'd start emailing again. But he was different, focused."
"He was focused on what?" Sam asked.
"Revenge," Mrs. Silver answered. "When the kids at the college started dying, I thought it might be Andrew. But what was I supposed to do? Call the cops and tell them the Ghost of my dead husband was picking off coeds? But mostly, I just didn't want to face the truth. Because I knew it was revenge that brought him back, and if I tried to stop him, that he might go away. And I didn't want to lose my husband again."
Sam and Dean looked at each other.
§
Sorority House - Basement
Catty looked at Delilah. "Just try to stay calm, all right?"
They heard a vibrating noise.
"What was that?" Ness asked.
"I don't know," Catty told them.
Ness looked under couch cushions, finding a cell phone ringing on silent. Andrew appeared. Delilah screamed. Catty approached Andrew with the crowbar. Andrew used magic to fling Catty and Ness into the wall across the room, making them fall.
Delilah looked at Andrew in fear. "Please don't kill me. We didn't mean to hurt you. It was an accident. I swear. If I could do it over again, I would have done the right thing."
Andrew started to strangle Delilah Catty stood, swinging the iron crowbar through Andrew, making him disappear.
Ness stood. "Let's go."
"Where?" Delilah asked.
"The door," Ness told them.
Catty tried to open the door to no avail. "It's locked."
Ness looked around the room. "Andrew, listen to me. You have every right to be pissed." Catty picked up the cell phone, sending a text to Sam about what was happening. "But take it from me. The more you kill, the crazier you'll get. The blood fuels the rage. So it looks like to me you've got two choices. You can keep killing and become something that you won't recognize, or you can move on, 'cause that is the only thing that is gonna give you peace. So, it's up to you, man. Pain or peace."
Andrew appeared in front of Ness, pushing her through a door. Delilah screamed. Ness stood. Mrs. Silver was face messaging the phone in Catty's hands.
Catty turned the phone to face him. "Andrew!"
Andrew looked at Catty.
Mrs. Silver: (on phone) "Andrew? It's Corey. Please listen to me. Please listen to me. You have to stop this. Revenge? It's hollow. And it's pointless. It won't bring you back. I should have said this earlier. But, I couldn't let go. But it's time. For me to let go, and for you to do the same. Please. I'm begging you. Do this for me. Do it for us." Corey and Andrew both had tears in their eyes. "Goodbye."
Andrew closed his eyes, letting go. He faded out of existence. Catty ended the face message, looking at Ness. Ness looked down somberly.

Day Four
Morning - Silver House - Outside
Dean, Sam, Ness and Catty took Delilah to the Silver House, sitting out in the Impala.
"You sure you want to do this?" Catty asked.
"Yeah," Delilah answered. "I should have done this a long time ago."
Delilah got out of the car, walking up to the Silver House, knocking.
Corey answered, looking from Dean, Sam, Ness and Catty in the Impala to Delilah. "Come in."
Delilah walked in. Corey closed the door.
§
The Impala
Dean was in the driver's seat. Ness was in the passenger seat. Sam and Catty were in the backseat.
Sam looked at Ness, Dean and Catty. "Looks like Andrew wasn't the only one who chose peace."
Ness smiled a small smile. "Yeah. Looks like." She looked at them. "I want that. To find peace. But I know that'll never happen until we get this thing off of me, and before I do something horrible again. That's the only way I'm gonna find peace. Or any of you."
Dean looked at Ness, nodding. "We'll get it off. And we'll all find that peace that you're looking for. Might take us until retirement or death again."
Catty smiled a small smile. "But, hey... we got time."
Ness, Sam, Catty and Dean exchanged a look, smiling small smiles.
§
Outside
The Impala drove forward down the street, leaving 810 behind forever.
