Clips from 1.01 "Pilot"
The Winchester House.
Mary led Young Sam and Dean into Baby Catty's nursery, turning on the light. "Come on. Let's say good night to your sister."
Young Dean lean over the side of the crib, kissing Baby Catty on the forehead. "Night, Catty."
Young Sam hopped up next to Young Dean, but couldn't reach over the railing of the crib. "Night, Cat."
John stood in the doorway. "Hey, boys."
Young Sam ran toward John. "Daddy!"
"Hey, buddy," John told him, pulling Young Sam into his arms, looking at Young Dean. "So, what do you think, Dean? You think Sammy's ready to toss around a football yet?"
Young Dean shook his head, laughing. "No, Dad."
John laughed. "No." He looked at Baby Catty in the crib. "Sweet dreams, Catty."
Young Sam walked into Baby Catty's nursery to see a man's silhouette standing over Baby Catty's crib. "Daddy?"
Mary ran toward the nursery, stopping short.
John ran into the room, only seeing Baby Catty and Young Sam, both who were crying, looking at the ceiling. John followed their gaze to the ceiling where Mary was burning alive, her torso gathered in blood.
Outside, Young Sam, John, and Young Dean were sitting on the hood of the Impala.
John was holding Baby Catty, looking up at the remnants of the fire.
Dean: (voice over from 1.01 Pilot) "Dad's missing. We need you to help us find him."
Sam: (voice over from 1.03 Dead in the Water) "The trail for Dad, it's getting colder every day."
From 1.03 "Dead in the Water", in the diner, Dean, Catty and Sam sat together.
Dean looked around Catty to look at Sam. "You don't think we want to find Dad as much as you do?"
From 1.03 "Dead in the Water", in the Barr House, Dean kicked in the bathroom door, running inside. Sam followed him inside. Catty held Lucas back, turning him away so he didn't have to see.
Sam: (voice over from 1.03 Dead in the Water) "I know you do."
From 1.03 "Dead in the Water", in the diner, Catty splashed Dean and Sam in the face with water, making them stop fighting, placing the glasses down, looking between her brothers. "We will find Dad, but until then, we're gonna kill everything bad between here and there, okay?"
From 1.01 "Pilot", on Sylvania Bridge, Sam spoke to Dean and Catty. "Mom's gone. She isn't coming back."
Dean grabbed Sam's collar, pushing him against the railing. "Don't talk about her like that."
Catty pulled them apart. "All right, break it up, tough guys."

Day One
Night - House - Living Room
A blonde woman was sitting on the floor of her home, unpacking boxes. She came across a photo of herself and her husband at their wedding. She started to cry.
A little girl walked in. "Mommy?"
"Hey, sweetie," the woman told her. "Why aren't you in bed?"
"There's something in my closet," the little girl answered.
The woman smiled a small, unconvincing smile.
§
Little Girl's Room
The little girl stood by her bed.
The blonde woman opened the closet doors, looking inside. "See? There's nothing there."
"You sure?" the little girl asked.
The woman turned to face the little girl. "I'm sure. Now, come on. Get into bed."
The little girl crawled into bed, lying down.
The woman walked closer, tucking the little girl in.
"I don't like this house," the little girl told her.
"You're just not used to it yet," the woman told her. "But you, your brother, your sister and me? We are going to be very happy here. I promise." She kissed the little girl on her forehead. "I love you."
The woman stood, walking toward the door, turning off the light.
"The chair," the little girl told her.
"Okay," the woman told her, walking toward the closet, moving a chair under the doorknob of the closet door. "The chair. Just to be safe."
The little girl laid back down, going to bed.
The woman walked out, leaving.
§
Living Room
The woman continued unpacking boxes. She stopped when she heard the sound of scratching coming from the basement. "Please, God, don't let it be rats."
§
Basement
The woman walked downstairs into the basement with a flashlight, trying to turn on a light only to find that it didn't work. "Terrific."
§
Little Girl's Room
The little girl was still lying down, not yet asleep.
The chair underneath the closet door began moving on its own, away from the doors.
The little girl sat up in fear.
§
Basement
The woman kept looking around, seeing a large black trunk on the floor. She knelt down, opening the trunk, pulling out old photos of a familiar family. She turned the pictures to look at the back.
The Winchesters. John, Mary, Dean, Sam and Little Catty
The woman smiled a small smile.
§
Little Girl's Room
The closet doors opened by themselves, revealing what looked like a person, but it was entirely made out of fire.
The little girl screamed.

House - Outside
The front yard had a large tree.
The woman could be seen in her bedroom window, in a white night gown, looking outside, screaming for help.
§
Motel Room
Sam woke up, gasping, sitting up, breathing heavily. He looked at Dean.
Dean was lying on his bed next to Sam's, asleep.
Sam looked toward the double doors to the other side of the room. He could barely see Catty's sleeping form. He took a moment to calm himself down, confused.
§
Day Two
Morning - Catty's Side of the Room
Sam was sitting on his bed, drawing the large tree from his dream.
Dean was lying on his bed.
Catty was sitting at the table, on her laptop. "All right. I've been cruising some websites. Think I found a few candidates for our next gig." She took a drink of coffee. "A fishing trawler found off the coast of Cali. Its crew vanished. And we got some cattle mutilations in west Texas." She looked at Dean and Sam to realize that neither of them were listening. Sam was too busy drawing the tree, and Dean was too busy falling asleep. "Hey!" Dean and Sam looked at Catty. "Am I boring you with this hunting evil stuff?"
"No, I'm listening," Dean told her. "Keep going."
Catty rolled her eyes. "And here, a Sacramento man shot himself in the head... three times." Dean and Sam didn't answer. "Any of these things blowing up your guys' skirts?"
Sam looked at his drawing. "Wait. I've seen this."
"Seen what?" Dean asked. Sam stood, walking toward the dresser, going through his bag. Catty took a sip of coffee, looking at Sam in confusion. "What are you doing?"
Sam took out Dad's journal, putting it on the bed, flipping through it, taking out a picture, comparing it to his drawing. "Guys, I know where we have to go next."
"Where?" Catty asked.
"Back home," Sam answered. "Back to Kansas."
Catty scoffed. "Okay, random. Where'd that come from?"
"All right, um..." Sam trailed off, walking closer. "This photo was taken in front of our old house, right? The house where Mom died?"
Catty and Dean looked at the picture of Mary, John, Young Dean, Young Sam, and Baby Catty standing in front of the tree.
"Yeah," Dean answered.
"It didn't burn down completely," Sam told them. "They rebuilt it, right?"
"I guess so, yeah," Dean answered.
"What the hell are you talking about?" Catty asked.
"Okay, look, this is gonna sound crazy, but the people who live in our old house, I think they might be in danger," Sam told them.
"Why would you think that?" Dean asked.
"Uh, just, um..." Sam trailed off, shaking his head. "Look, just—you guys got to trust me on this, okay?"
Sam stood, walking away, into their side of the motel room.
"Hey, whoa, whoa, whoa," Dean told him, standing, starting to follow. "Trust you?"
§
Boys' Side of the Room
Sam turned to face Dean. "Yeah."
Catty walked in.
"No, man, that's weak," Dean told him. "You got to give us a little bit more than that."
"I can't really explain it is all," Sam told them.
"Well, tough," Dean told him. "We're not going anywhere until you do."
Sam looked at Catty and Dean, sighing. "I have these nightmares."
"We've noticed," Catty told him.
"And sometimes they come true," Sam told them.
Catty and Dean looked at Sam in confusion, too surprised to react right away.
"Come again?" Catty asked.
"Look, guys, I dreamt about Jessica's death for days before it happened," Sam told them.
"Sane people of weird dreams, Sam," Catty told him. "I'm sure it's just a coincidence."
Catty sat down on one of the beds.
"Catty, I dreamt about the blood dripping, her on the ceiling, the fire, everything, and I didn't do anything 'cause I didn't believe it," Sam told her. "And now I'm dreaming about that tree, our house, and some woman inside screaming for help. I mean, that's where it all started. This has to mean something, right?"
"I don't know," Catty told him.
"What do you mean, you don't know, Catty?" Sam asked, sitting down across from Catty. "This woman might be in danger. This might be the thing that killed Mom and Jessica."
"All right, just slow down, would you?" Dean asked, chuckling without humor. "I mean, first you're telling us that you've got 'The Shining'... and then you tell us that we've got to go back home, especially when..."
"When what?" Catty asked.
"When I swore to myself that I would never go back there," Dean answered.
There was a long moment of silence.
Sam shook his head, standing. "Look, Dean, we have to check this out. Just to make sure."
Dean looked at Sam and Catty for a moment, nodding. "I know we do."
§
Lawrence, Kansas
Winchester Old House - Outside
The Impala pulled up to the house.
§
The Impala
Dean was driving.
Sam was sitting in the passenger seat.
Catty was sitting in the backseat.
Sam looked at Catty and Dean. "You gonna be all right?"
"Let me get back to you on that," Catty told him, getting out of the backseat, walking toward the house.
Sam and Dean followed.
§
Porch
Catty knocked on the front door.
The blonde woman answered the door. "Yes?"
Sam looked at the woman in shock.
"Sorry to bother you, ma'am, but we're with the Federal—" Dean started.
"I'm Sam Winchester, and this is my brother and sister, Dean and Catty," Sam told her. "Um... we used to live here. You know, we were just driving by, and we were wondering if we could see the old place."
"Winchester," the woman repeated. "That is so funny. I—I think I found some of your photos the other night."
"You did?" Catty asked.
The woman nodded, looking further into the house, looking at them, hesitating. "Okay. Come on in."
§
Inside - Kitchen
The woman led the way into the kitchen. "I'm Jenny, by the way."
"Hi, Jenny," Catty told her.
Jenny led the way into the kitchen.
The little girl was sitting at a table.
There was a baby sitting in one of those baby chairs with toys surrounding it, allowing the baby to walk.
A little toddler was standing behind a play pin, jumping. "Juice, juice, juice, juice, juice, juice!"
"That's Richie," Jenny told them, unlocking the fridge. "He's kind of a juice junkie." She opened the fridge, taking out a sippie cup, walking toward Richie. "But, hey, at least he won't get scurvy." Richie stopped jumping, taking the cup. Jenny turned to the baby, picking her up. "This is Iris. She's a handful." She looked at the little girl sitting at the table. "Sari, this is Sam, Catty and Dean. They used to live here."
"Hi," Sari told them.
"Hey, Sari," Catty told her.
"So, you just moved in?" Dean asked.
"Uh, yeah," Jenny answered. "From Wichita."
"You got family here?" Catty asked.
"No," Jenny answered. "I just, uh...um, needed a fresh start. That's all. So, new town, new job—I mean, as soon as I find one—new house."
"So, how you liking it so far?" Sam asked.
"Well, uh, all due respect to your childhood home..." Jenny trailed off. "I mean, I'm sure you have lots of happy memories here... but this place has its issues."
"What do you mean?" Sam asked.
"Well, it just getting old, like, the wiring, you know?" Jenny asked. "We've got flickering lights almost hourly."
"Oh, that's too bad," Dean told her. "What else?"
"Um..." Jenny trailed off. "Sink's backed up. There's rats in the basement." Catty nodded as if she was thinking, of course. "I'm sorry. I don't mean to complain."
Catty shook her head. "No, it's okay. Have you seen the rats, or just heard scratching?"
"Just the scratching, actually," Jenny answered.
"Mom?" Sari asked. Sam, Dean and Catty exchanged a knowing look. Jenny walked closer to Sari, still holding Iris in her arms. "Ask them if it was here when they lived here."
"What, Sari?" Catty asked.
"The thing in my closet," Sari answered.
"Oh, no, baby, there was nothing in their closets," Jenny told her. She looked at Sam, Dean and Catty. "Right?"
Sam nodded. "Right. No. No, of course not."
"She had a nightmare the other night," Jenny told them.
"I wasn't dreaming," Sari told her. "It came into my bedroom, and it was on fire."
Sam, Dean and Catty exchanged a look.
§
Outside
Sam, Dean and Catty walked out of the house.
"You hear that?" Sam asked. "A Figure on Fire."
"And Jenny was the woman in your dreams?" Dean asked.
"Yeah," Sam answered. "And you hear what she was talking about? Scratching, flickering lights? Both signs of a Malevolent Spirit."
"Yeah, well, I'm just freaked out your weirdo visions are coming true," Dean told him.
"Forget about that for a minute," Catty told them. "The thing in the house, do you think it's the thing that killed Mom and Jessica?"
"I don't know," Dean told them.
"Has it come back, or has it been there the whole time?" Sam asked.
"Maybe it's something else entirely," Dean told them. "We don't know yet."
They stopped next to the Impala.
"Those people are in danger," Catty told them. "We have to get them out of that house."
"We will," Dean told them.
"No, I mean now," Catty told them.
"Cat, how are you gonna do that?" Dean asked. "You got a story she's gonna believe?"
"Then what are we supposed to do?" Sam asked.
No one answered.
§
Gas Station - Outside
Sam, Catty and Dean were standing outside of the Impala.
"We just got to chill out, that's all," Dean told them. "If this was any other kind of job, what would we do?"
Catty exhaled. "We'd try to figure out what we were dealing with. We'd dig into the history of the house."
"Exactly," Dean told her. "Except, this time, we already know what happened."
"Yeah, but how much do we know?" Catty asked. "How much do you guys remember?"
"About that night, you mean?" Sam asked.
"Yeah," Catty answered.
"Not much," Sam answered. Dean shook his head in agreement. Sam looked at Dean, sighing. "I remember the fire. The heat. I remember thinking that Catty was in danger."
"Why?" Catty asked.
Sam shook his head. "I don't remember. I remember walking into your room, and seeing Mom. She was... was on the ceiling. She looked just like Jessica. And whatever put her there was long gone by the time Dad came running in. Then I carried you out the front door."
"You did?" Catty asked.
"Yeah, well, you never knew that?" Sam asked.
Catty shook her head. "No." She looked at Sam. "You said that you thought I was in danger." Sam nodded. "What if whatever killed Mom was trying to kill me, too? Or what if Mom died protecting me?"
"Catty, don't torture yourself with images like that," Dean told her.
"What if it's true?" Catty asked. Neither answered. After a moment, Catty sighed, changing the subject. "Dad never had a theory about what did it. Or if he did, he kept it to himself. God knows we asked him enough times."
Dean and Sam turned, leaning against the car next to Catty.
"Okay," Sam told them. "So, if we're gonna figure out what's going on now, we have to figure out what happened back then, see if it's the same thing."
"Yeah," Dean agreed. "Talk to Dad's friends, neighbors, people who were there at the time."
"Does this feel like just another job to you?" Sam asked.
Dean and Catty didn't answer.
"I'll be right back," Catty told them. "I got to go to the bathroom."
Catty pushed away from the car, walking toward the bathroom. She didn't walk inside. She pulled out her phone, making a call.
John: (voice mail) "This is John Winchester. If this is an emergency, call my daughter, Catty, or my son, Dean. Catty's number is 785-906-2013. Dean's number is 785-555-0175. They can help."
Catty heard the beep. "Dad... I know I've left you messages before. I don't even know if you get them. But, I'm with Sam and Dean, and we're in Lawrence, and there's something in our old house. I don't know if it's the thing that killed Mom or not, but... I don't know what to do. So, whatever you're doing, if you could get here... please. I need your help, Dad."
Catty hung up.
§
Night - Jenny's House - Kitchen
Jenny showed a plumber to the kitchen, near the sink. "No, sir, nothing weird down there. I promise. Sink just backed up on its own."
"Well, I'll take a look," the plumber told her.
"Thanks," Jenny told him. "Oh, okay. I'll get out of your way."
Jenny walked out, leaving.
The plumber set down his tools, starting to look at the pipes under the sink.
A few feet away by Iris' walker, a toy monkey was sitting with cymbals in its hands. Without warning, the monkey started up. It clashed its cymbals together loudly, cackling.
The plumber looked up in confusion.
The toy stopped, returning still and silent
The plumber stood, trying to turn on the garbage disposal, but it didn't work. He rolled up his sleeve, reaching his hand down the disposal. He thought he felt something in the drain, but when he took his hand out, there was nothing there. He reached his hand down the disposal again, most of his arm.
The garbage disposal started up, completely tearing his arm apart, making him scream in agony.
Blood splattered everywhere.
The cymbal-clashing, evilly cackling monkey started up again.
§
Day Three
Morning - Guenther's Auto Repair
Catty, Dean and Sam were talking to the owner.
"You and John Winchester, you used to own this garage together?" Dean asked.
"Yeah, we used to," the owner answered. "A long time ago. Matter of fact, must be 20 years since John disappeared. So why are the cops interested all of a sudden?"
"Oh, we're reopening some of our unsolved cases, and the Winchester disappearance is one of them," Dean told him.
"Uh-huh," the man told them. "Well, what do you want to know about John?"
"Whatever you remember," Dean answered. "Whatever sticks out in your mind."
"Well..." the man trailed off. "He was a stubborn bastard. I remember that. And, uh... oh, whatever the game, he hated to lose, you know? It was that whole Marine thing. But, uh... well, he sure loved Mary, and he doted on those kids."
"But that was before the fire," Sam told him.
The man nodded. "That's right."
"He ever talk about that night?" Sam asked.
"No, not at first," the man answered. "I think he was in shock."
"Right, but eventually, what did he say abut it?" Sam asked.
"Oh, he wasn't thinking straight," the man told them. "He said, uh... He said something caused that fire and killed Mary."
"He ever say what did it?" Catty asked.
"Nothing did it," the man told them. "It was an accident. An electrical short in the ceiling or walls or something. I begged him to get some help, but..."
"But what?" Catty asked.
"Oh, it just got worse and worse," the man told them.
"How?" Catty asked.
"Oh, he started reading these strange old books," the man answered. "He started going to see this palm reader in town."
"Palm reader?" Catty repeated. "You have a name?"
The man scoffed. "No."
§
Gas Station - Outside
Dean, Sam and Catty were looking through phone books nearby a payphone, leaning against the Impala.
"All right, so there are a few Psychics and palm readers in town," Sam told them. "There's someone named El Divino." He chuckled. "There's the mysterious Mr. Fortinsky. Uh, Missouri Moseley, some dude—"
"Wait, wait," Catty told him. "Missouri Moseley?"
"What?" Dean asked.
"That's a Psychic?" Catty asked.
Sam looked at the phone book. "Uh, yeah. Cat, I guess so."
Catty opened the backseat door of the Impala. "In Dad's journal..." She reached inside, pulling out the journal, closing the door, flipping through the book. "Come here. Look at this." Sam and Dean walked closer. "First page, first sentence. Read that."
Dean took the journal. "'I went to Missouri... and I learned the truth'.'
"I always thought he meant the state," Catty told them.
Sam and Dean chuckled.
§
Missouri's Work Place - Waiting Room
Dean, Catty and Sam sat out in the waiting room.
The woman from the phone book picture, Missouri, led a man toward the door. "All right, then. Don't you worry about a thing." She chuckled. "Your wife is crazy about you." The man walked out of the building, leaving. Missouri closed the door. "Whew. Poor bastard. His woman cold-banging the gardener."
Dean chuckled. "Why didn't you tell him?"
Missouri turned to face Dean, Catty and Sam. "People don't come here for the truth. They come for good news." Dean, Catty and Sam exchanged a look. "Well? Sam, Dean and Catty, come on already. I ain't got all day."
Dean, Catty and Sam exchanged a look, confused as to how she knew who they were.
§
Back Room
Missouri led them into the back room, turning to face Sam, Catty and Dean, chuckling, looking at the boys "Well, let me look at you." She laughed. "Oh, you boys grew up handsome." She laughed, pointing at Dean and Sam. "And you were two goofy-looking kids, too." Sam and Dean looked at her with slightly offended looks. Catty smiled. "And, Catty, dear, you are so pretty." Catty smiled a small smile. Missouri looked at Sam. "Sam." She took his hand. "Oh. I'm sorry about your girlfriend. And your father... He's missing?"
"How'd you know all that?" Sam asked.
"Well, you were just thinking it, just now," Missouri answered.
"Well, where is he?" Catty asked. "Is he okay?"
"I don't know," Missouri told them.
"Don't know?" Dean repeated. "You're supposed to be a Psychic, right?"
Missouri gave Dean a look. "Boy, you see me sawing some bony tramp in half? You think I'm a magician? I may be able to read thoughts and sense energies in a room, but I can't just pull facts out of thin air." Catty tried to keep from laughing. Dean looked shamed. "Sit. Please." Missouri sat down in her chair. Dean, Sam and Catty sat on the couch across from her. Missouri looked at Dean. "Boy, you put your foot on my coffee table, I'm gonna whack you with a spoon."
"I didn't do anything," Dean told her.
"Well, you were thinking about it," Missouri told him.
Dean raised his eyebrows.
Sam smiled.
Catty laughed quietly.
"Okay, so... our dad," Sam told her. "When did you first meet him?"
"He came for a reading a few days after the fire," Missouri answered. "I just told him what was really out there in the dark. I guess you could say I drew back the curtains for him."
"What about the fire?" Catty asked. "Do you know about what killed our mom?"
"A little," Missouri answered. "Your daddy took me to your house. He was hoping I could sense the echoes, the fingerprints of this thing."
"And could you?" Dean asked.
"I don't..." Missouri trailed off, shaking her head.
"What was it?" Dean asked.
"I don't know," Missouri told them. "But it was evil."
§
Jenny's House - Kitchen
Richie was jumping around in his playpen.
Jenny was on the phone, holding baby Iris in her arms. "Look, I feel just awful about the poor man's hand. Wait. But how can I be held liable? Yeah, but I can't afford a lawyer." She heard noises from upstairs. "Okay, listen, you gotta let me call you back." She hung up. "Richie, um, Mommy's gonna be right back, okay?"
"Okay," Richie told her.
Jenny held Iris, walking out of the room.
§
Missouri's Work Place - Back Room
Missouri looked at Dean, Sam and Catty. "So, you think something's back in that house?"
"Definitely," Dean answered.
Missouri shook her head. "I don't understand."
"What?" Dean asked.
"I haven't been back inside, but I've been keeping an eye on the place, and it's been quiet," Missouri told them. "No sudden deaths, no freak accidents. Why is it acting up now?"
"I don't know," Sam told her. "But Dad going missing and Jessica dying, and now this house, all happening at once, it just feels like something's starting."
"That's a comforting thought," Catty told them sarcastically.
They exchanged a look.
§
Jenny's House - Kitchen
Richie was alone in the kitchen.
One of the screws on his playpen came out of place.
One of the playpen's sides fell to the floor.
The safety latch on the door of the refrigerator came undone. The door opened.
Richie stood curiously, walking toward the refrigerator to see a sippie cup full of juice. "Juicy."
Richie climbed into the refrigerator, sitting on one of the shelves, taking the cup.
The refrigerator door closed. The safety latch locked into place, locking Richie inside.
§
Jenny walked into the kitchen with Iris, who was crying, trying to calm her down. "Oh, baby, either we have rats, or Mommy's going crazy." Iris continued to cry. "Oh, what's the matter, sweetie? Why won't you stop crying?" She noticed that Richie's playpen had been dismantled and that she couldn't find Richie. "Richie? Richie?" Panicked, Jenny looked around. "Baby, where are you?"
Jenny breathed heavily, turning to the fridge to see that there was milk leaking out onto the floor. She walked toward it, unlocking it, unlatching the door.
"Mommy," Richie told her.
"Oh, my God," Jenny said in relief, taking Richie out of the fridge, holding his hand.
There was a knock on the door.
§
Foyer
Jenny opened the door, holding Iris in her arms, holding Richie's hand, seeing that Dean, Catty, Missouri and Sam were on the porch. "What are you doing here?"
"Hey, Jenny," Catty told her. "Um, this is our friend Missouri."
Missouri smiled.
"If it's not too much trouble, we were hoping to show her the house, for old time's sake," Sam told her.
"No, you know, this isn't a good time," Jenny told them. "I'm kind of busy."
"Listen, Jenny, it's important—" Dean started. Missouri hit him on the head. "Ow!"
"Give the poor girl a break," Missouri told him. "Can't you see she's upset?" She looked at Jenny. "Forgive this boy. He means well. He's just not the sharpest tool in the shed." Dean raised his eyebrows at her. Catty smiled. "But hear me out."
"About what?" Jenny asked.
"About this house," Missouri answered.
"What are you talking about?" Jenny asked.
"I think you know what I'm talking about," Missouri told her. "You think there's something in this house, something that wants to hurt your family. Am I mistaken?"
"Who are you?" Jenny asked.
"We're people who can help, who can stop this thing," Missouri answered. "But you're gonna have to trust us just a little."
§
Sari's Room
Sam, Dean, Catty and Missouri walked in.
"If there's a dark energy around here, this room should be the center of it," Missouri told them.
"Why?" Catty asked.
"This used to be your nursery, Catty," Missouri answered. "This is where it all happened." Catty looked at the ceiling. Dean pulled out the EMF reader. Missouri looked at him. "That an EMF?"
"Yeah," Dean answered.
Missouri rolled her eyes. "Amateur." Dean gave her a look. The EMF reader went off. Missouri continued to pace slowly around the room, her eyes closed in concentration. "I don't know if you should be disappointed or relieved, but this ain't the thing that took your mom."
"Are you sure?" Sam asked. Missouri nodded. "How do you know?"
"It isn't the same energy I felt the last time I was here," Missouri answered. "It's something different."
Missouri looked curiously at the closet, walking toward it.
"What is it?" Dean asked.
Missouri opened the closet doors. "Not it." She walked into the walk in closet. "Them. There's more than one Spirit in this place."
"What are they doing here?" Catty asked.
"They're here because of what happened to your family," Missouri answered, walking closer. "You see, all those years ago, real evil came to you. It walked this house. That kind of evil leaves wounds, and sometimes wounds get infected."
"I don't understand," Sam told her.
"This place is a magnet for paranormal energy," Missouri explained, looking around. "It's attracted a Poltergeist. A nasty one. And it won't rest until Jenny and her babies are dead."
"You said there was more than one Spirit," Catty told her.
Missouri looked at Catty, nodding. "There is." She walked into the closet. "I just can't quiet make out the second one."
Missouri walked toward them.
"Well, one thing's for damn sure," Dean told them. "Nobody's dying in this house ever again. So whatever is here, how do we stop it?"
§
Missouri's Work Place - Back Room
Missouri was showing Sam, Dean and Catty all of these ingredients.
"So, what is all this stuff, anyway?" Catty asked.
"Angelica root, van van oil, crossroad dirt, a few other odds and ends," Missouri answered.
"What are we supposed to do with it?" Catty asked.
"We're gonna put them inside the walls in the north, south, east and west corners on each floor of the house," Missouri answered.
"Punching holes in the drywall," Dean said. "Jenny's gonna love that."
"She'll live," Missouri told them.
"And this will destroy the Spirits?" Sam asked.
Missouri nodded. "It should. It should purify the house completely. We'll each take a floor, but we work fast. Once the Spirits realize what we're up to, things are gonna get bad."
§
Night - Jenny's House - Outside
Jenny held Iris, opening the front door. "Okay."
Catty held Sari and Richie's hands, leading them down the stairs. "Careful."
Jenny looked at Catty. "Look, I—you know, I'm not sure I'm comfortable leaving you guys here alone."
"Just take your kids to the movies or something, and it'll be over by the time you get back," Catty told her.
Jenny sighed. "Okay."
Catty waved to Iris, Richie and Sari. "Bye."
Jenny led them toward the car.
Catty turned around, walking back into the house, standing in the doorway, looking outside, watching Jenny drive away, closing the door.
§
Inside - Attic
Sam walked into the attic with a hammer. He knelt down by the wall, beginning to use the end of the hammer to hit against the walls.
Behind him, a dresser slowly, quietly started to slide away from the wall.
§
Kitchen
Dean was using a small ax to cut a hole into the wall above the sink and counters.
Behind him, a drawer began to open on its own.
§
Basement
Missouri was looking around. She brought a bag full of herbs to the wall.
Behind her, the gas gauge nearby started to turn.
§
Jenny's Room
Catty walked into the room, kneeling next to the wall, tapping a wooden piece against it, using a blade to break a hole into the wall.
Behind her, a plug took itself out of the outlet. The lamp began to move toward Catty so the cord could reach her.
§
Attic
Sam put the bag into the wall, hearing something behind him, turning around.
The dresser slid toward him violently, pushing him against the wall, pinning him.
§
Kitchen
Dean heard a noise, turning around. He ducked.
A knife hurled itself into a cabinet that had been behind Dean.
Dean placed the table in front of himself as a shield.
Several more knives stabbed into the table, trying to get to Dean.
§
Basement
Missouri put her bag into the wall. She smelt the gas, turning around, seeing the gauge. "Oh, hell, no."
Missouri quickly turned the gas off, running up the stairs, closing the door.
A explosion followed her up, not enough to cause much damage to the house. The heavy, set door to the basement was what kept it contained.
§
Jenny's Room
Catty had broken a hole into the wall, about to place the bag inside.
The lamp crashed to the floor, shattering.
Catty turned around to see what the noise was.
The cord wrapped itself around Catty's neck, pulling her back onto the floor, choking her. Catty gasped for breath, trying to pull the cord away, grabbing the bag, trying to sit up to put the bag into the wall. The cord tightened around her throat, pulling Catty back. Catty couldn't breathe, starting to drift off.
Sam and Dean ran into the room. "Catty!"
Sam knelt next to Catty, trying and failing to pull the cord away from her neck. "Cat!"
Dean found the bag, putting it into the wall.
Thunder crashed from outside.
There was a blinding bright light.
They heard the Spirits shriek before everything faded away.
Sam was finally able to pull the cord away from Catty neck. "Come on."
Catty gasped for breath, trying to catch it.
Sam and Dean looked at Catty in relief, pulling her into their arms.
Catty shook her head.
§
Kitchen
Dean, Sam, Catty and Missouri were standing in the destroyed kitchen now.
Sam paced around the room, looking at Missouri. "Are you sure this is over?"
Missouri nodded. "I'm sure." She turned to face him. "Why? Why do you ask?"
"No, never mind," Sam told her, sighing. "It's nothing, I guess."
They heard a door open.
The lights turned on.
"Hello?" Jenny's voice called. She walked into the kitchen with the kids. "We're home." She looked around all of the disastrous room. "What—What happened?"
"Hi," Catty told her. "Sorry. Um, we'll—we'll pay for all of this."
Dean gave Catty a confused look.
Missouri looked at Jenny. "Don't you worry. Dean's gonna clean up this mess." Dean gave Missouri a confused look. Catty smiled. "Well, what are you waiting for, boy? Get the mop." Dean opened his mouth to speak. Missouri cut him off. "And don't cuss at me."
Dean looked as if he got busted.
Missouri raised her eyebrows at Dean.
Dean reluctantly went to get the mop.
§
Outside
Sam, Dean, Catty and Missouri walked out of the house.
Jenny stood in the doorway, watching them go.
They looked back at her, waving.
Jenny closed the door.
They walked toward their cars.
§
Later - Jenny's Room
Jenny was in bed, wearing the same nightgown Sam had dreamt her in, reading a magazine. She yawned, putting the magazine on her bedside table. She turned the lights off, sliding underneath the covers. A moment later, she opened her eyes, startled.
The bed began to shake violently.
Jenny screamed, getting out of bed.
§
Outside - The Impala
Sam, Dean and Catty were still there. Sam was in the passenger seat. Dean was in the back. Catty was in the driver's.
"So, tell me again, what are we still doing here?" Dean asked.
"I don't know," Sam told them. "I—I just still have a bad feeling."
"Why?" Catty asked. "Missouri did her whole Zelda Rubenstein thing. The house should be clean. This should be over."
"Yeah, well, probably, but I just want to make sure," Sam told them. "That's all."
Dean sighed, leaning further back into the backseat. "Yeah. The problem is I could be sleeping in a bed right now."
Catty rolled her eyes, looking out of the window closest to the house.
Jenny was standing in the window in her bedroom, banging against the window, screaming for help that they couldn't hear.
"Sam!" Catty told him. "Dean!"
Catty immediately opened the door, getting out of the car.
Sam and Dean instantly followed.
§
Outside
Sam, Dean and Catty ran toward the house.
"Sam, help me grab the kids," Catty told him. "Dean, get Jenny."
"Cat, you get Iris," Sam told her. "I'll get Richie and Sari."
§
Inside - Sari's Room
The Figure of Fire was standing by Sari's closet.
Sari was sitting up in her bed, screaming in fear.
§
Hallway
Dean ran to Jenny's bedroom door. "Jenny!"
§
Jenny's Room
Jenny was trying to open the door to no avail. "I can't open the door!"
"Stand back!" Dean told her.
Jenny backed away from the door.
Dean kicked the door in, leading Jenny out of the room.
§
Downstairs
Dean led Jenny toward the door.
"No, my kids!" Jenny told him.
"Sam and Catty got your kids," Dean told her. "Come on."
§
Iris' Nursery
Iris was in the crib.
The crib was shaking violently.
Iris cried and screamed.
Catty ran inside, seeing what was happening, reaching inside the crib, grabbing Iris, holding her. "Shh, shh, shh."
Catty ran out of the room, leaving.
§
Inside - Sari's Room
Sam was holding Richie, running into Sari's room.
Sari was screaming for help.
Sam looked at the Figure of Fire, running toward Sari, picking her up in his other arm. "Don't look. Don't look!"
Sam ran out of the room.
§
Outside
Dean and Jenny were waiting.
Catty ran out with baby Iris.
Jenny looked at Iris in relief. "Iris!" She ran closer. Catty handed Iris to her. Jenny held Iris close, comforting her. Iris stopped crying. Jenny looked at Catty worriedly. "Where are Sari and Richie?"
"Sam's getting them," Catty answered.
Jenny sighed in relief.
§
Inside - Downstairs
Sam ran downstairs, putting the kids down on the floor. "All right, Sari, take your brother outside as fast as you can, and don't look back."
An invisible force threw Sam to the floor, making him slide backward into another room, crashing into the table.
Sari screamed, running outside with Richie.
§
Outside
Sari and Richie ran outside, toward Dean, Jenny, Iris and Catty.
Jenny ran toward them, kneeling in front of them. "Are you okay, baby?"
Catty knelt in front of Sari to look her in the eye. "Sari, where's Sam?"
"He's inside," Sari answered. "Something's got him."
Dean and Catty looked toward the house.
The front door slammed closed.
§
Catty opened the arsenal in the trunk of the Impala, taking out a shotgun with rock salt shells. She grabbed another shotgun, tossing it to Dean.
Dean caught it.
Catty closed the arsenal and the trunk lid.
Catty and Dean both ran toward the house.
Dean tried and failed to kick the door open.
§
Inside - Kitchen
Sam was flung into a set of cabinets, falling to the floor. He stood. An invisible force pushed him against the wall, pinning him. He couldn't move any part of his body.
The Figure of Fire walked toward Sam.
§
Outside
Dean held an ax, slashing it repeatedly into the front door to break a hole into it. "Sam!"
Catty and Dean saw the Figure of Fire making its way toward Sam.
Catty swung the ax two more times to break the hole big enough to step through, stepping inside.
Dean followed her.
§
Inside
Catty and Dean ran down the hall toward Sam and the Figure of Fire.
"Sam!" Dean told him.
Catty and Dean looked at the Figure of Fire, aiming their shotguns toward it.
"No, don't!" Sam told them. "Don't!"
"What?" Dean asked. "Why?"
"Because I know who it is," Sam answered. "I can see her now."
The fire faded away, leaving them in darkness.
Mary was standing in front of them, looking exactly how see did when she died 17 years ago.
Catty and Dean looked at Mary in surprise, numb, slowly lowering their guns to their sides without feeling the movement.
"Mom?" Dean asked.
Mary smiled. "Dean." She stepped closer.. "Catty." Catty couldn't react, in complete shock. Mary smiled a small smile, placing a hand on Catty's cheek for a long moment. She walked past them to Sam, still pinned to the wall. "Sam. I'm sorry."
Sam looked at Mary in confusion, tears in his eyes. "F—for what?"
Mary didn't answer, turning around, walking away, looking up at the ceiling. "You, get out of my house. And let go of my kids."
Mary turned into flame, soaring toward the ceiling. The fire spread, across an invisible force, both of them disappearing.
Sam could finally move, gasping.
Catty looked around. "Mom?"
There was no answer.
Sam stood on the other side of Catty. "Now it's over."
§
Day Four
Morning - Outside
Catty was standing next to the Impala, looking through all of the pictures that Jenny had found and given them.
There was one of Mary and John. The next one was of Young Dean and Young Sam facing each other, holding Baby Catty in between them, smiling.
Catty looked up at Jenny. "Thanks for these."
Jenny shook her head. "Don't thank me. They're yours."
Catty put the pictures into the burned box, closing it, looking toward Missouri, Sam and Dean standing by the house, walking toward them.
"Well, there are no Spirits in there anymore, this time for sure," Missouri told them.
"Not even our mom?" Dean asked.
Missouri shook her head. "No."
Sam nodded in understanding, shaking his head in confusion. "What happened?"
"Your mom's Spirit and the Poltergeists' energy, they canceled each other out," Missouri explained. "Your mom destroyed herself going after the thing."
"Why would she do something like that?" Catty asked.
"Well, to protect her boys and her little girl, of course," Missouri answered. There was a long moment of silence. "Sam, I'm sorry."
"For what?" Sam asked.
"You sensed it was here, didn't you?" Missouri asked. "Even when I couldn't."
Sam shook his head. "What's happening to me?"
"I know I should have all the answers, but..." Missouri trailed off, shaking her head. "I don't know."
Dean took a deep breath, changing the subject. "Sam, Catty, you ready?"
Catty and Sam nodded, walking toward the Impala, standing next to the doors. Dean followed.
Jenny walked past them to stand next to Missouri. "Bye, guys."
"Don't you three be strangers," Missouri told them.
"We won't," Catty told her.
"See you around," Missouri told them.
Sam, Dean and Catty smiled small smiles of acknowledgement, still reeling over last night, getting into the car, driving away.
§
Missouri's Work Place - Back Room
Missouri walked in, setting her purse on the table. "That boy... he has such powerful abilities. But why he couldn't sense his own father, I have no idea."
John was sitting on her couch. "Mary's Spirit... Do you really think she saved them?"
"I do," Missouri answered. John nodded sadly, twisting the wedding ring on his finger. "John Winchester, I could just slap you. Why won't you go talk to your children?"
John had tears in his eyes. "I want to. You have no idea how much I wanna see them. But I can't. Not yet. Not until I know the truth."
Missouri and John looked at each other knowingly.
