chapter 13 - The Song Remains the Same
Outfits in the external link
From 4.10 "Heaven and Hell", in the Singer House's Panic Room, Anna Milton sat up, screaming. The lights exploded, glass shattering, glass and sparks falling down around them.
Dena walked toward Anna. "Anna?"
"Dean, don't," Ness told him.
Anna didn't realize what she was doing, using magic to throw Dean across the room, making him fall to the floor. Anna sat up, completely calm. "I remember now. I'm an Angel."
From 4.10 "Heaven and Hell", in the barn, Anna threw the pendant to the ground, shattering it, releasing her Grace. White light flowed into her mouth. Bright light came out of Anna's body.
Anna: (voice over from 4.10 Heaven and Hell) "I have a death sentence on my head."
Catty: (voice over from 4.10 Heaven and Hell) "Why?"
From 4.21 "When the Levee Breaks", on the dock, Octavia stood on the dock, looking over the river front, leaning against the wooden railing.
Anna: (voice over from 4.10 Heaven and Hell) "I disobeyed."
Octavia turned to see Anna standing behind her. "You shouldn't have come, Anna. They are watching everything I do."
From 4.16 "On the Head of a Pin", in the prison room, Uriel drew his Angel Blade, raising it to finish Castiel off. An Angel Sword pierced through Uriel's throat from behind. Octavia pulled the sword out of his neck, letting Uriel fall to the floor, stepping closer to Castiel, standing next to him, turning to watch Uriel. Castiel rose to his feet. Octavia and Castiel exchanged a look, looking at Uriel's body. Uriel's wings had been seared into the floor across the Devil's Trap on either side of him. Octavia looked as if she couldn't believe what she had done, but also feeling no remorse or guilt.
Anna: (voice over from 4.21 When the Levee Breaks) "Angel probation for killing Uriel."
From 4.21 "When the Levee Breaks", on the dock, Octavia nodded. "Which is why you shouldn't have come."
Anna realized that she was trying to warn her away a moment too late. Two Angels appeared on either side of Anna, taking either of her arms. White light illuminated Octavia, fading into nothing. The other three Angels had disappeared.
From 5.10 "Abandon All Hope...", in the warehouse, Castiel was trapped in the circle of Holy Fire while Meg and the two other Demons watched him. Octavia appeared, using her Angel Sword to stab Demon 1 in the back through his chest, killing him with a bright flash of light. Demon 2 turned toward Octavia, trying to attack. Octavia slashed her Angel Sword across his legs, making him fall to his knees, putting her hand to his head, smiting him with a bright flash of white light, killing him. Meg ran toward Octavia. Octavia raised a hand toward her, magically pushing Meg against the wall, magically ripping the bolt from the pipe in the wall, telekinetically throwing it like a spear into Meg's chest to pin her against the wall.
Octavia: (voice over from 5.10 Abandon All Hope...) "Sorry it took so long, Cas. I had to get away from Angel superiors to make sure they couldn't watch or listen to the mission of trying to kill Lucifer. Cas, I know you, Sam, Dean, Catty and Ness kept the mission to kill Lucifer a secret from me so that you wouldn't put me in danger. But for now, I am fine, and you're the ones that need saving."
"We were trying to protect you, Ava," Castiel told her.
Octavia held her hand toward the Holy Fire, magically dispelling it, releasing Castiel.
Octavia: (voice over from 5.10 Abandon All Hope...) "Then remember that I don't need to be protected, Cas."
From 5.10 "Abandon All Hope...", on the farm,Octavia and Castiel appeared behind Dean, Ness, Sam and Catty, kneeling next to them, teleporting them away while Lucifer was doing the ritual to summon Death.
Octavia: (voice over from 5.10 Abandon All Hope...) "Now let's get the hell out of here and save Sam, Dean, Catty and Ness from Lucifer."
From 4.03 "In the Beginning", in the motel room, Castiel looked at Catty. "You have to stop it."
"Stop what?" Catty asked.
Castiel put two fingers to Catty's forehead.
From 4.03 "In the Beginning", on the street, Catty was lying on a bench at the side of the road, waking up in 1978.
From 4.03 "In the Beginning", in the diner, Catty looked at the newspaper Young John Winchester was reading, mouthing the words. ''78...'
From 4.03 "In the Beginning", outside the Campbell House, Young Mary Winchester/Campbell ran out of the house, toward Young John.
Catty was in a car across the street, further away, looking toward them in shock. "Mom?"
From 4.03 "In the Beginning", outside the car dealership, Young John shook Catty's hand. "John Winchester."
From 4.03 "In the Beginning", in the Campbell House, Catty's chair was pushed against the wall, pinning Catty to the wall. Deanna Campbell ran toward the Colt on the floor. She was thrown across the room into the kitchen, making her fall onto the table and topple it to the floor.
From 4.03 "In the Beginning", in the Campbell House, Catty and 'Samuel' sat at the table.
"My parents are Mary and John Winchester, and I am your granddaughter," Catty told him.
From 4.03 "In the Beginning", in the Walsh House, Young Mary kicked toward Dr. Brown/Azazel. He caught her leg, gripping her throat. Catty burst in with the Colt raised. Dr. Brown/Azazel pulled Young Mary in front of him as a shield.
Catty: (voice over from 4.03 In the Beginning) "Mary gets killed by a Yellow-Eyed Demon in 1988. Now, if we don't catch this thing now..."
From 4.03 "In the Beginning", in the Walsh House, black smoke poured out of Dr. Brown's mouth, exiting through a vent in the wall.
Catty: (voice over from 4.03 In the Beginning) "And kill it, and it gets away, then Mary dies."
From 4.03 "In the Beginning", lakeside, Catty drove up to see Young Mary holding Young John's body, and Samuel/Azazel kissing her, getting out of the car. "No!"
Catty ran toward them, aiming the Colt at Samuel/Azazel, knowing that Samuel's body was already dead. Before she could shoot, black smoke flowed out of Samuel's body, soaring through the sky, leaving. Samuel's body fell dead. Catty looked at Young Mary. Young Mary looked at Catty, crying.
Catty: (voice over from 4.03 In the Beginning) "I couldn't stop any of it. She still made the deal."
Young John came back to life.
Catty: (voice over from 4.03 In the Beginning) "She still died in the nursery, didn't she? She still died saving me."
From 4.03 "In the Beginning", in the motel room, Castiel looked at Catty. "Destiny can't be changed, Catty. All roads lead to the same destination."

Dean's Dream
Night - TJz
(Song:) Cherry Pie - Warrant
Dean was seated at the bar, shaking his head. "Oh, I take it all back. I love freaking Angels. More correctly, I love the dark Angels." The bar was lit from the lights above. Ness was dressed in a sexy Dark Angel outfit, dancing. She knelt in front of Dean on the bar, leaning closer, acting as if she would kiss him, pulling away. "Oh, come on, Ness. Don't be a tease. This is what I call peace on earth."
Ness smiled, sliding off of the bar, kissing Dean.
Dean responded instantly. When he opened his eyes, he saw that Ness had disappeared.
(Song Ends)
Anna appeared.
Dean looked at her in shock. "Anna?" He shifted uncomfortably. "I was just, uh, working on a case."
Anna was amused. "This is what you dream about."
Dean looked down. "This is awkward." He looked at Anna. "Why are you gate-crashing my head? Why don't you just swing by the motel?"
Anna sat down next to Dean. "I can't find you."
Dean remembered why. "Oh. Cas did this thing." He gestured to his ribs. "Where have you been?"
"Prison," Anna answered. "Upstairs. All the torture, twice the self-righteousness."
"Are you okay?" Dean asked.
"No," Anna answered. "And I don't have long. I broke out. Barely. They're looking for me. If they find me--"
"Okay," Dean told her. "What do you need?"
"Meet me," Anna told him. "225 Industrial. And please, just--"

Day One
Morning - Motel Room
Dean woke up abruptly.
Anna: (voice over) "Hurry."
Dean sat up, breathing heavily.
§
Later - Motel Room
Sam, Dean, Catty and Castiel were standing together.
"I wouldn't suggest that you go," Castiel told them.
"Well, if I didn't know any better, I'd say that you don't trust Anna," Catty told him.
"It's not that I don't trust her," Castiel told them. "It's just... I don't believe her story."
"Why not?" Catty asked. Castiel didn't answer, turning to a table, where it showed a spell in progress. A bowl was filled with various materials, most of them akin to leaves, herbs or petals set before a circular Sigil. The Sigil itself was separated by four lines into four areas or quadrants. Each quadrant contained a different Enochian symbol or letter. Outside the circle, four other Enochian symbols were written. Four lit candles were placed atop the four quadrants, and four other objects were placed at the farthest points outside the circle. A trinket placed near the bowl was also required. "Cas, what are you doing?"
"Summoning Octavia," Castiel answered, lighting a match, tossing it into the bowl, making everything inside catch fire.
Dean saw a Hex Bag nearby. "Which explains this."
Octavia appeared in the doorway, leaning against it. "Prayer phone works, too, you know."
"We couldn't risk it, Ava," Castiel told her. "They could have been listening."
"And they could be listening to us right now," Octavia replied. "What is the point of being of being a secret on the inside if we keep having these private little chats and get caught in the process, huh? I thought that was why you four didn't tell me about your insane plan of killing Lucifer that failed."
"We didn't tell you because we didn't want you to get killed," Sam told her. "But that didn't stop you from coming to help, now, did it, Ava?"
Octavia raised her eyebrows slightly. "No, it didn't, Sam, but only after I was sure the Angels weren't following me, after I had a Hex Bag cloaking my every move and thought and word."
Dean tossed the Hex Bag toward Octavia. "That's why we got these." Octavia caught it. "Smartass. Can't hear us. Can't see us. Don't even know where we are. Cloaks all of us, including you, so you can relax."
Octavia looked at the Hex Bag in her hand.
"What do you know about Anna being captured by the Angels?" Castiel asked.
Octavia sighed, lowering the bag to her side. "Everything."
Sam realized what she meant. "You were there?"
Octavia nodded. "I tried to warn her away. She didn't listen. She didn't know that they had been watching me. They took her back to the prison up in Heaven. Torture her back into shape."
"What do you know of her escape?" Castiel asked.
Octavia scoffed. "Escape." She looked at them to see that they were serious. "She didn't escape. She was let out. There is no escaping that prison unless you're suicidal." She paced around them and the table. "She was jail broke by a group of rogue Angels."
"More rogue Angels?" Sam asked.
"You, Bobby, Catty, Dean and Ness didn't think it was just me and Cas, did you, Sam?" Octavia asked. "No. Cas and I are the good rogue Angels. The ones that want peace and save everybody. There are others who want to kill some to save some."
"Kill who?" Sam asked.
"Well, you and Catty, for example, Sam," Octavia answered.
"What?" Catty asked.
"So Michael and Lucifer can't use you as vessels to participate in the grand finale," Octavia explained. "Anna and her group of rogues want you and Sam dead, Catty."
Castiel, Dean, Sam and Catty processed. Octavia looked at them seriously, sympathetic.

Day - Street
(Song:) The Creeper - Molly Hatchet
A young woman and a young man were sitting in a car, smoking. Painted on the hood of the car was a phoenix with fiery wings. The young woman and young man leaned in for a kiss. Anna fell from the sky, slamming down on the hood of the car, her mouth bleeding, weakened.
"Oh, my God!" the young man told them. The young woman and young man got out of the car, running out to Anna. "Hey."
"Oh, my God," the young woman told them.
"Hey," the young man told her. "Are you okay."
The young woman looked at the young man. "We have to get her to a hospital."
The young man and young woman helped Anna stand, getting her into the car. On a nearby wall was a billboard advertising Grease, starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. The movie was released on June 16, 1978.

Now
Day - Motel Room
Dean was pacing. "Really? Anna? I don't believe it."
"It's true," Octavia told them.
"So, she's gone all Glenn Close, huh?" Catty asked. "That's awesome."
Castiel looked at Catty in confusion. "Who's Glenn Close?"
Dean walked toward Sam and Catty.
Catty stood, looking at Castiel. "No one. Just this psycho bitch who likes to boil rabbits."
Octavia sighed, looking at Dean and Castiel. "But they want to kill Sam and Catty, the vessels."
"They're not the only ones, Ava," Dean told her.
"What, that guy Nick?" Octavia asked. "He's burning away as we speak, Dean. No. Sam and Catty are the only vessels that matter. You know what that means? If they can't take either of you, their whole plan short-circuits. No fight, no Croatoan virus. The Horsemen go back to their day jobs."
"Even if they could... kill Sam and Catty, the Angels would just bring them back to life," Castiel told her.
Octavia shook her head. "Not if they scatter their cells across the universe. They'll never find them. Not all of them." She looked at Sam and Catty. "The things that they say, just over Angel Radio? It's deadly creative and crazy. Things that your worst nightmares wouldn't even touch."
Dean sighed. "Then we'll find another way."
"How's that going?" Sam asked. "How's the Colt working out? Or your search for God to prove to the Angels that you're on their side, Ava? Is anything working?"
"No, Sam, come on," Octavia told him.
Sam looked at Dean and Catty but didn't speak to them. "Cas, Ava, what do you think? Does Anna have a point?"
Dean looked at Castiel and Octavia.
Castiel looked from Octavia to Dean, Sam and Catty. "No. She's, uh, Glenn Close."
Sam shook his head, looking down.
"Sam, are you listening to yourself?" Octavia asked. "Are you actually thinking about giving in, after everything that we've done, and everything you and I talked about?"
Sam didn't answer, sighing. "Ava..."
Dean raised his eyebrows, wondering what they were talking about. Catty looked between them.
"Sam?" Octavia asked.
Sam sighed. "I... I just don't want the universe to go up in flames because of me and Catty, Ava. If Anna's way saves everyone else..."
Octavia shook her head. "No. Like Dean said, we'll find another way."
"Why do you care?" Dean asked.
Octavia looked at Dean, slightly incredulous. "Why do I care? Maybe because you, Sam, Catty, Ness, Cas and Bobby are the friends that I am in the middle of this war for, Dean."
Castiel seemed understanding, yet surprised that she felt the same as he did. "You've changed, Ava."
"So have you, Cas," Octavia replied. "Maybe too late, but we have. So we'll just have to find Anna."
"Oh, yeah, the chick that wants to gank Sam and Catty," Dean told them with honest sarcasm. "Why poke the bear?'
"She will keep trying," Octavia told them. "She won't give up until you're dead. So we kill her first."
Octavia seemed to hear something, leaning on the back of a chair, eyes closed, breathing heavily.
The others looked at her worriedly.
"Octavia?" Sam asked. When she didn't answer right away, Sam walked closer. "Ava?"
"They're doing something," Octavia told them.
"Well, that's not vague," Catty told her sarcastically.
Octavia gave Catty a look, standing straight.
"Ava, what's going on?" Sam asked.
"The rogues?" Octavia asked. "I could hear them. They're sending Anna back to 1978."
"What?" Sam asked. "Why 1978? We weren't even born yet."
"You won't be if she kills your parents," Octavia told them.
"What?" Catty asked.
Octavia walked closer. "Anna can't get to you because of Cas. So she's going after them."
"Take us back right now," Dean told them.
"And deliver Sam and Catty right to Anna?" Castiel asked. "Or expose Ava for everything that she has been doing for us? And what you plan to do, Dean? I should go alone."
"They're our parents, Cas," Dean told him. "You're right about keeping Ava, our secret weapon... well, a secret, but we're going."
"It's not that easy," Castiel told them, stepping away.
"Why not?" Catty asked.
"Time travel was difficult even with the powers of Heaven at my disposal, and it took more than one Angel to do so," Castiel explained.
"The powers of Heaven, which got cut off for both of you," Sam realized. "Well, Ava still has more leeway than Cas does. But you said that they cut you off some to make you prove to them that you weren't rebelling, Ava."
"They did," Octavia answered. "I'm sorry, Sam."
"So, what, you're like DeLoreans without enough plutonium?" Catty asked.
"I don't understand that reference," Castiel told her.
"You don't understand a lot of references, Clarence," Catty told him. "Which, by the way, is also a reference."
Castiel sighed. "Catty..."
Catty smirked slightly. "Sorry, Cas."
"I can send you back," Octavia told them. "And then I can bring you back." She looked at Castiel. "With your help, I'll be strong enough to do both, but it'll weaken the both of us."
Dean walked closer to Castiel and Octavia. "They're our mom and dad. If we can save them, and not just from Anna... I mean, if we can set things right, we have to try."
Octavia sighed, looking away.
§
Later
Castiel packed a second ceramic jar that both looked like the jar that he used to summon Raphael from 5.03 Free to Be You and Me, and his Angel Blade in a duffel bag.
Octavia turned to face Sam, Dean and Catty. "Ready?"
Catty took the bag from Castiel, pulling it over her shoulder. "Not really."
"Bend your knees," Dean told them. Octavia took out her Angel Sword. "Whoa. That's a lot more badass than Cas' blade, Ava."
"'Cause it's an Angel Sword," Octavia told them. "Normally, they belong to just Archangels."
"Then how did you get your hands on that?" Dean asked.
"Gabriel," Octavia answered, holding the Angel Sword toward Catty.
Catty smirked, taking the sword. "Of course you did."
Catty put the Angel Sword into her bag. Octavia sighed, hesitating.
"What?" Sam asked.
"I wish I could go back," Octavia told them. "But..."
"Can't without exposing yourself," Sam finished. "It's okay, Ava. We get it."
Octavia took a deep breath, looking up. "Just be careful back there. Don't make all of this for nothing by dying there." Sam, Dean and Catty looked at her, raising their eyebrows. Octavia smirked. "That's my way of showing you I care, if that's what your questioning looks are for."
Catty stood in between Sam and Dean, taking either of their hands, looking at Octavia. "You show your love in the most weird ways."
Octavia smirked, looking at Castiel. "Cas, take care of Sam, Dean and Catty, would you? That's if you make it back to the 70's being able to stay awake." Castiel nodded. Octavia looked at Sam, Dean and Catty. "Time travel is a bitch to do without the power of Heaven backing you up."
Sam, Dean and Catty looked at her in surprise, smiling in amusement. Octavia smirked. Castiel chuckled.
"See you when we get back, Ava," Sam told her.
"You can count on me to be the one to bring you back," Octavia told them. "Just no promises that I won't pass out immediately after."
Octavia put two fingers to Catty and Dean's foreheads. Castiel put two fingers to Sam and Catty's foreheads. Castiel, Sam, Catty and Dean disappeared. Octavia looked faint and weak, nearly falling, catching herself against the nearby table. Her mouth was bleeding, the blood dripping down her chin. She looked toward the bed tiredly. She appeared on the bed, looking as if she was sleeping.
§
1978
Day - Street
Sam, Catty and Dean stood in the middle of the street, looking around.
A car horn honked. The car came to a stop within inches from them. "Get out of the street!"
Sam, Catty and Dean walked for the sidewalk. Another car nearly ran them over. Sam, Catty and Dean got to safety between two parked cars.
Sam waved awkwardly at the second moving car. "Did we make it?"
Catty pointed at one of the cars, looking around. "Unless they're bringing Pintos back into production, I, uh, I'd say yes." She saw Castiel collapsed against the nearest car, his nose bleeding. "Cas?" They walked toward Castiel quickly. "Cas. Hey, hey, hey." Castiel tried to stand weakly, nearly falling. Catty helped him stand, holding his shoulders to help him stand. "Take it easy. Take it easy." Castiel had to lean back into the car behind him to keep standing. "Are you all right?"
"I'm fine," Castiel told them unconvincingly. "I'm much better than I expected."
Castiel coughed up blood, falling unconscious. Sam, Catty and Dean caught Castiel before he fell to the ground.
"Cas?" Catty asked, holding her hand in front of Castiel's mouth. "He's breathing. Sort of." She looked at Sam and Dean. "What do we do?"
"I don't know," Sam told them. "But seeing Cas like this makes me wonder how Ava's holding up after helping Cas send us back here. I just both he and Ava are okay."
§
Motel - Outside
Sam ripped a page from a phone book at a pay phone. Two people walked past, one with a large mustache.
Dean smirked. "I mean, the mustaches alone..."
Catty walked outside of the motel room. "So I paid for Cas for five nights up in the, uh, honeymoon suite. I told the manager, 'Do not disturb no matter what.' You know what he said to me? 'Yeah. Don't sweat it. Want to buy some dope?'"
Dean chuckled. "Dope. We ought to stick around here, buy some stock in Microsoft."
"Yeah, we might have to if Cas and Ava don't recover," Sam told him. "Like I said before, if Cas is this bad, then you kind of have to wonder how bad Ava is." Dean nodded in agreement. Sam looked at Catty. "Is he all right?"
"What do I look like?" Catty asked. "Dr. Angel, Medicine Woman? Cas will wake up. He's, you know, tough for a little nerdy dude with wings."
"I just hope Ava's fine," Sam told them.
"She will be, Sammy," Dean answered. "I think Ava's tougher than Cas sometimes. If Cas landed like that, hopefully, so did Anna. Should buy us some time." He looked at Sam. "So, did you find them?"
"Yeah," Sam answered, holding up the torn phone book page. "Uh, the Winchesters. 458 Robintree."
Dean shrugged. "Let's go pop in on the folks."
§
Night - Robintree Road
An old blue car pulled up across the street from 485 Robintree and the Impala. Sam, Catty and Dean got out of the car, walking across the street toward the house. Sam and Dean walked ahead of Catty.
"Sam," Catty told him. "Dean. Wait, wait, wait, wait."
Sam and Dean stopped, turning to face Catty. Catty caught up.
"Catty, Anna could be here any second," Dean told her.
"What exactly are we gonna march up there and tell them?" Catty asked.
"Uh, the truth," Dean answered with honest sarcasm.
"What, that their children are back from the future to save them from an Angel gone Terminator?" Catty asked. "Come on. Those movies haven't even come out yet."
"Well, then tell her Demons are after them," Sam told them. "I mean, she thinks you're a hunter, right?"
"Yeah, a hunter who disappeared right when her mom and dad died," Catty told them, speaking sarcastically the next time she spoke. "She's gonna love me." She thought for a moment. "Just follow my lead."
Catty walked toward the house. Sam and Dean turned to follow.
§
Inside - Kitchen
Young John got a beer out of the fridge.
Young Mary turned away from the silverware drawer, setting forks and knives at each place at the kitchen. "How was work?"
"It was, uh, great," Young John told her, setting down the beer, reaching for one of the rolls on the table.
Young Mary grabbed his wrist. "Ah, not until you wash up."
"I love when you get bossy," Young John told her, pulling Young Mary into a kiss, pulling away, smiling, walking away, leaving.
Young Mary watched him go, smiling. The doorbell rang.
§
Porch
Young Mary opened the door, seeing Catty, Dean and Sam.
"Hi, Mary," Catty told her.
"You can't be here," Young Mary told them.
"I'm sorry if this is a bad time," Catty told her.
"You don't understand," Young Mary told her. "I'm not--" She noticed Sam and Dean looking at her in shock, ignoring them, looking at Catty. "I don't do that anymore. I have a normal life now. You have to go."
Young Mary tried to close the door.
Catty held an arm out to stop her. "I'm sorry, but this is important, okay?"
Young John walked closer, opening the door wider, clearing his throat.
"Sorry, sweetie," Young Mary told him. "They're just..."
"Mary's cousins," Catty told him. Young Mary smiled awkwardly. "Yeah, we couldn't stop through town without swinging by and saying, 'Hey', now, could we?" Catty held a hand toward Young John. "Catty."
Young John shook Catty's hand. "You look familiar."
"Really?" Catty asked. "Yeah, you do, too, actually, you know? We must have met sometime. Small towns, right? Got to love them."
"I'm John," Young John told them, holding a hand toward Sam.
Sam looked at them for a moment in shock, shaking Young John's hand.
"This is Sam," Catty told them. Young John shook Dean's hand, who was just as in shocked awe as Sam was. "And this is Dean."
"Catty, Sam and Dean," Young John repeated. "Mary's cousin was a Catalina, her father was a Samuel, and her mother was a Deanna."
Dean smiled, nodding.
"Uh, it's a--they're family names," Catty told them.
Dean hadn't let go of Young John's hand.
"You okay, pal?" Young John asked. "You look a little spooked."
Dean let his hand go. "Oh. Oh, yeah. Just a... long trip."
"Yeah," Sam agreed.
"Well, Sam, Dean and Catty were just on their way out," Young Mary told him.
"What?" Young John asked. "They just got here." He looked at Catty, Sam and Dean. "Real happy to meet folks from Mary's side. Please, come on in for a beer."
"Twist my arm," Dean told them.
Young Mary gave Catty a look. Catty looked down guiltily.
§
Living Room
Sam, Dean, Catty, Young Mary and Young John each had a beer. Sam couldn't stop looking at Young Mary. Young Mary was visibly uncomfortable.
"Are you sure you're okay, Sam?" Young John asked.
"W--" Sam started. "Oh. Yeah, yeah. Um, I'm just, um..." He looked at Young Mary. "You are so beautiful."
Young John leaned forward.
"He means that in a--a non-weird, wholesome, family kind of way," Dean told them.
"Yeah, right," Sam agreed.
Dean looked at Young Mary. "We haven't seen Mary in—in quite some time, and—See, she's the spitting image of our mom." He looked at Catty. "In fact, she looks a lot like Catty right here." Young John nodded in acknowledgement. "I mean, it's—it's—"
"Eerie," Sam told them.
"So, how are you guys related?" Young John asked.
"You know, uh, distantly," Catty told them.
"Oh," Young John told them. "So, you knew Mary's parents?"
"Yeah," Catty answered. "Yeah, yeah. Mary's parents were, uh, pretty much like grandparents to us."
"Oh," Young John told them. "That was tragic. The heart attacks."
Young John took Young Mary's hand.
Catty nodded sadly, numbly, looking down, remembering what Azazel had done to Samuel and Deanna. "Yes, it was."
"So, uh, what are you guys doing in town, anyway?" Young John asked.
"Uh, business, you know," Dean answered.
"Oh, yeah?" Young John asked. "What line of work?"
"Plumbing," Sam told him the same time Dean told him, "Scrap metal."
Young Mary stood. "Oh, gosh. It's almost 7:00. I hate to be rude, but I got to get dinner ready."
"Maybe they could stay," Young John told her.
"I'm sure they have to leave," Young Mary told him.
The phone rang.
Young John looked at Sam, Dean and Catty. "Uh, look, please stay. You know, it would mean a lot to me. I haven't met much of Mary's side of the family."
Young John stood, walking out of the room.
§
Hallway
Young John was on the phone. "Look, Mr. Woodson, I'm begging you to reconsider."
Mr. Woodson's voice was on the other line. "I'd like to, John. You're a great mechanic. But times ain't exactly rosy."
"Even just part time," Young John told him. "I really need this job."
The speaker was on a payphone. "All right, look. Come on in right now, let's talk. Maybe we can figure something out."
The speaker was Anna, speaking in Mr. Woodson's voice.
"You serious?" Young John asked.
"I'll see you in 10 minutes," Anna told him. "Don't keep me waiting."
§
Living Room
Young Mary looked at Sam, Dean and Catty. "You have to leave."
"Okay, just listen--" Catty started.
"No, you listen," Young Mary told her. "Last time I saw you, a Demon killed my parents. Now you waltz in here like you're family? Whatever you want, no. Leave me alone."
"You and John are in danger," Sam told her.
"What are you talking about?" Young Mary asked.
"Something's coming for you," Dean told her.
"Demon?" Young Mary asked.
"Not exactly," Dean answered.
"Well, what, then?" Young Mary asked.
"It's kind of hard to explain, okay?" Dean asked. "It's--It's--"
"An Angel," Catty told her.
Young Mary chuckled. "What? There's no such thing."
"I wish," Dean told her. "But they're twice as strong as Demons. And bigger dicks."
"Why would an Angel want to kill us?" Young Mary asked.
"It's a long story, and we'll tell you the whole thing, but right now, you've got to trust us, and we got to go," Catty told her. "Look at my face and tell me if I'm lying to you."
Young Mary looked at Catty for a moment, realizing that she wasn't. "Okay. Where do we go?"
"Out of here," Catty answered. "We got to move now, though."
"Okay," Young Mary told them. "But what do I tell John?"
"Just tell him--" Dean cut himself off, looking around. "John?"
§
Hallway
Young Mary, Catty, Sam and Dean walked into the hallway. Young Mary noticed a note by the phone, taking it down, reading it, turning to face them, showing them the note: Back in 15 --J
§
Garage
Young John walked through the dark and otherwise empty garage. "Mr. Woodson? You still here?"
Young John turned on a light, seeing Mr. Woodson lying on the ground, face down. He turned him over to see that his eyes had been burnt out of his head. He backed away, turning around. Anna was right behind him, grabbing Young John, throwing him across the room into a tall shelf, making them both fall to the floor. Young John stood. Anna watched him. Her vision doubled and blurred. She blinked. Young John took a crowbar, using it to hit Anna in the face, making her fall to the floor. Anna stood, throwing Young John over a car, making him fall to the ground. Anna turned to see Dean standing behind her with Castiel's Angel Blade, grabbing his wrist and throat.
Dean tried to pry her hand off his neck. "I wish I could say it's good to see you, Anna."
"You, too, Dean," Anna told him, pushing Dean through a window, making it shatter.
Catty had Octavia's Angel Sword, twirling it to a better grip, circling around Anna cautiously. "Hey, Anna."
"Catty," Anna replied, circling around Catty just as slowly. Young Mary ran toward Young John's side, making sure he was okay. Young John looked around, conscious. Catty slashed toward Anna with Octavia's Angel Sword. Anna ducked. Catty slashed toward Anna again. Anna circled beneath Catty's arm, making her miss, standing straight, spinning around to face Catty. Catty slashed the sword toward Anna's heart. Anna raised her hand to stop the blow, receiving the wound on her palm instead. Catty kicked Anna in the stomach, making her back away, slashing toward her with the sword. Anna ducked, disappearing. Catty looked around cautiously, feeling Anna reappear behind her, turning to face her, trying to stake her with the sword. Anna caught Catty's arm. "I'm sorry." Anna threw Catty onto a car windshield, making the glass shatter and pierce into Catty's skin, making her bleed. Catty crawled over the car, away from Anna, seeing Anna stalk toward Young Mary and Young John, sliding off of the car, over the trunk, to the floor, raising the sword to stake Anna in the heart through her back. Anna turned to face Catty, catching her wrist just in time, gripping Catty's throat, lifting her off the floor. Young Mary saw this, standing, walking toward a bench, grabbing a crowbar, turning around, driving it into Anna's back, into her heart. Nothing happened. Anna let Catty go, reaching behind her to pull out the blood-stained crowbar, dropping it to the floor, turning to the side to look at both Young Mary and Catty. "Like mother, like daughter. Sorry, it's not that easy to kill an Angel."
"No," Sam agreed, standing with a bleeding palm next to a wall with the Angel Banishing Sigil painted onto it. "But you can distract them."
Sam slammed his hand onto the Sigil. The bright white light flashed, making Anna vanish. Young Mary looked at Catty in confusion, breathing heavily. Catty avoided her gaze, looking at Octavia's Angel Sword in her hand, catching her breath. Young John looked toward them in confusion. Young Mary looked like she didn't know what to think, say, do, or how to react.

On the Road
The Impala drove down the road.
§
The Impala
Young John was driving. Young Mary was in the passenger seat. Sam was behind Young Mary. Dean was behind Young John. Catty was between Sam and Dean.
Young John was in shock. "Monsters. Monsters?"
"Yes," Young Mary answered.
"Monsters are real?" Young John asked.
"I'm sorry," Young Mary told him. "I didn't know how--"
"And you fight them?" Young John asked. "All of you?"
"Yeah," Sam answered.
"How long?" Young John asked.
"All my life," Young Mary answered. "John, just try to understand--"
"She didn't exactly have a choice--" Dean started.
"Shut up, all of you," Young John told them. "Look, not another word, or so help me, I will turn this car around."
There was a moment of silence.
Catty looked down, raising her eyebrows. "Wow. Awkward family road trip."
Sam chuckled once. "No kidding."
§
Campbell House - Outside
The Impala pulled up to the Campbell House.
§
Inside
Young Mary led the way inside, turning on the light as she passed it. The place was very ill-maintained.
"Place has been in the family for years," Young Mary told them, flipping up a round carpet. "Devil's Trap. Pure iron fixtures, of course." She turned on another light. "Um, there should be salt and Holy Water in the pantry. Knives, guns..."
"All that stuff will do is piss it off," Sam told her.
"So, what will kill it?" Young Mary asked. "Or slow it down, at least?"
"Not much," Sam answered.
Young Mary chuckled without humor. "Great."
"He said not much, not nothing," Catty told her, showing them Octavia's Angel Sword. Dean showed them Castiel's Angel Blade. "These are pretty much the only things we have that can kill her, but we have some extra precautions. We packed." Catty put the duffel bag down on the table, rummaging through it. "If we put this up, and she comes close..." She showed them a paper with the Angel Banishing Sigil. "We beam her right off the starship."
"Mm," Young Mary hummed.
Catty pulled out a bottle. "This is Holy Oil. It's kind of like a--like a Devil's Trap for Angels. Come on. I'll show you how it works."
Catty walked out of the room, hesitating in the doorway. Young Mary looked at Young John for a moment, following Catty out of the room, both of them leaving. Sam followed.
Young John looked at Dean. "Hey, what's the deal with the thing on the paper?"
"It's a Sigil," Dean answered. "That means--"
"I don't care what it means," Young John told him. "Where does it go?"
"On a wall or a door," Dean answered.
"How big should I make it?" Young John asked.
"John--" Dean started.
"What?" Young John asked. "You all might have treated me like a fool, but I am not useless. I can draw a damn..." He picked up the paper from next to a large knife. "Whatever it is. A Sigil."
"Why don't you go help Sam, Catty and Mary out?" Dean asked. "Okay? 'Cause this has got to be done in... it's got to be done in Human blood."
Young John picked up the knife, unsheathing it, slicing his left palm open. "So, how big?"
Dean was impressed. "I'll show you."
Dean chuckled.
"What?" Young John asked.
"All of a sudden, you... you really remind me of my dad," Dean told him.
Young John looked at Dean.
§
Later
Young John was working on an Angel Banishing Sigil.
Sam walked closer. "That's really good."
"You come to check on me?" Young John asked.
"Uh, I wanted to say I--I'm sorry about all this," Sam told him. "I--I know it's a lot."
"Look, how long have you known about this... hunting stuff?" Young John asked.
"Pretty much forever," Sam answered. "My dad raised me in it."
"You're serious?" Young John asked. "Who the hell does that to a kid?"
"Well, I mean, for the record, Mary's parents did," Sam told him.
"I don't care," Young John told him. "You know, what kind of irresponsible bastard lets a child anywhere near--Y--you know, you could've been killed."
"I, uh... came kind of close," Sam told him, chuckling.
"The number it must've done on your head..." Young John trailed off. "Your father was supposed to protect you."
"He was trying," Sam told him. "He died trying. Believe me." He sat down on the window seat. "I used to be mad at him. I--I mean, I used to... I used to hate the guy. But now, I--I... I get it. He was... just doing the best he could." Young John listened. "And he was trying to keep it together in--in--in this impossible situation. See... my mom, um... She was amazing, beautiful, and she was the love of his life. And she got killed. And... I think he would have gone crazy if he didn't do something. Truth is, um, my dad died before I got to tell him that I understand why he did what he did. And I forgive him for what it did to us. I do. And I just--I love him."
Young John nodded understandingly.
§
Street
Anna was waiting. There was the sound of Angel wings.
"Uriel," Anna told him, turning around. Uriel was in a vessel younger than the familiar one. "You look well."
"You shouldn't have called," Uriel told her. "We're under strict orders not to come down here, much less take a vessel." He paused. "You're not the Anna of now."
"No," Anna answered. "But 30 years from now, I'm still your superior. I need you to kill some Humans."
"Always happy to do some smiting," Uriel told her. "But what's going on?"
"In the future, these people are going to kill you, Uriel," Anna told him. "I'm giving you the chance to kill them first."
Uriel took this in, nodding. "Thank you."
§
Campbell House - Living Room
Young Mary was pouring Holy Oil, looking up at Catty. "Okay. You said you'd explain everything when we had a minute. We have a minute. Why does an Angel want me dead?"
"'Cause most of them are dicks," Catty answered. "Not all, though."
Young Mary chuckled without humor. "Not good enough. I didn't even know they existed, and now I'm a target?"
"It's complicated," Catty told her.
"Fine," Young Mary told her, standing. "All ears."
"You're just gonna have to trust me, okay?" Catty asked.
"I've been trusting you all day," Young Mary told her.
"It's kind of hard to believe," Catty told her.
"All right, then," Young Mary told her. "I'm walking out the door."
Young Mary turned to leave.
"I'm your daughter," Catty told her.
Young Mary looked at Catty in shocked confusion, not processing yet. "What?"
"I'm your daughter," Catty repeated. "That's why Anna said, 'Mother like daughter'. I'm sorry. I don't know how else to say it. We're from the year 2010. Two Angels named Castiel and Octavia, but we call them Cas and Ava, zapped us back here. Neither of them are the ones that attacked you, but friendlier."
"You can't expect me to believe that," Young Mary told her.
"Our names are Catty, Sam and Dean Winchester," Catty told her. "My brothers are named after your parents. I'm named after your cousin Catalina Campbell. When Sam and Dean would get sick, you would make them tomato-rice soup, because that's what your mom made you. And instead of a lullaby, you would sing 'Hey, Jude', 'cause that's your favorite Beatles song."
Young Mary shook her head in denial, starting to cry. "I... I don't believe it. No."
"I'm sorry, but it's true," Catty told her.
Young Mary wasn't crying because she found out that they were her children. She was crying because of what they were. "I raised my kids to be hunters?"
"No," Catty answered. "No, you didn't."
"How could I do that to you?" Young Mary asked.
"You didn't do it," Catty told her.
Young Mary thought back to what Catty said. "You keep saying, 'them', 'they', as in Sam and Dean."
"I didn't grow up to know you," Catty told her.
"Why?" Young Mary asked.
"Because you're dead," Catty answered. "You died when I was six months year old."
Young Mary's eyes widened. "What? What happened?"
"Yellow-Eyed Demon," Catty answered. "He killed you, and..." She looked toward the doorway. "John became a hunter to get revenge. He raised us in this life." She looked at Young Mary. "Listen to me. The Yellow-Eyed Demon comes into my nursery exactly six months after I'm born. That exact day, Sam turns four. Yellow Eyes lures Sam into my nursery, and tries to have me sacrificed, and you die trying to save my life. November 2, 1988. Remember that date. And whatever you do, do not go in there. You wake up that morning, and you take Sam, and you run."
They heard Sam's voice. "That's not good enough, Catty." Young Mary and Catty looked toward Sam and Dean as they walked in. "Wherever she goes, the Demon's gonna find her. Find me."
"Well, then what?" Catty asked.
"She can leave Dad," Dean answered. "That's what." He looked at Young Mary. "You got to leave John."
"What?" Young Mary asked.
"When this is all over, walk away, and never look back," Dean told her.
"So we're never born," Catty realized. She looked at Young Mary. "He's right."
"I--I can't," Young Mary told them. "You're saying that you're my children, and now you're saying--"
"You have no other choice," Dean told her. "There's a big difference between dying and never being born. And trust me, we're okay with it, I promise you that."
"Okay, well, I'm not," Young Mary told them.
"Listen, you think you can have that normal life that you want so bad, but you can't," Sam told her. "I'm sorry. It's all gonna go rotten. You are gonna die, and your children will be cursed."
"There--there has to be a way," Young Mary told them.
"No, this is the way," Sam told her. "Leave John."
"I can't," Young Mary told them.
"This is bigger than us," Catty told her. "There are so many more lives at stake--"
"You don't understand," Young Mary told them. "I can't." She hesitated. "It's too late. I'm... I'm pregnant."
Catty, Sam and Dean let this settle in, knowing that Young Mary was pregnant with Dean right now.
Young John walked in. "Hey, we got a problem. Those blood things, the Sigils, they're gone."
"Gone, as in..." Catty trailed off.
"I drew one on the back of the door," Young John told them. "I turned around. And when I looked back again, it was a smudge."
Dean walked out of the room to look, walking back in. "He's right."
Young Mary knelt to the floor to check the oil circle she had just poured. "There's no more Holy Oil."
There was a loud, high-pitched noise. An Angel's true voice. (From 4.01 Lazarus Rising, 4.20 The Rapture, 4.22 Lucifer rising, 5.01 Sympathy for the Devil.) Sam drew Octavia's Angel Sword. Catty drew Castiel's Angel Blade. The sound escalated, making all of them cover their ears, lowering to their knees in pain. The windows and light bulbs shattered, glass falling everywhere, plunging the room into darkness.
§
Windows continued to shatter. The noise ceased into quiet. The door flew open. Uriel walked in.
"Who the hell are you?" Dean asked.
"I'm Uriel," Uriel answered.
Catty backed away, her voice complaining. "Ursula? Oh, come on."
"Go," Sam told them.
Young Mary, Young John, Sam and Dean backed away. Anna was blocking the only other exit.
Catty looked from Uriel to Sam and Dean. "Here goes nothing."
Dean tried to punch Uriel. Uriel caught his arm. Catty tried to stake Uriel with Castiel's Angel Blade. Anna caught Catty's arm. Uriel threw Dean aside, making him fall to the floor. Anna threw Catty aside, making her fall to the floor and drop Castiel's Angel Blade, turning to Sam. Sam slashed toward Anna with Octavia's Angel Sword. Anna raised her hand to block the move, receiving the wound in her hand. Sam raised the sword to stab Anna through her chest. Anna disappeared. Sam looked around in confusion. Anna reappeared behind Sam, pushing him into the wall, making the wall break, making him drop the sword, and him fall to the floor. Uriel turned to Dean, kicking him in the side. Young John saw Castiel's Angel Blade, trying to reach for it. Anna stood in front of Young John, making him stand straight, pushing him through a window, making him shatter through it into the backyard.
"John!" Young Mary told him.
Uriel pulled Dean into a standing position, punching him repeatedly. Sam reached for Octavia's Angel Sword. Anna ripped a fixture from the wall, stabbing Sam in the stomach.
"Sam!" Catty told him. Uriel gripped Dean's throat. Catty stood. "Dean!"
§
Outside
Young John was lying down. Something bright glowed above him. Young John looked up.
§
Inside
Sam fell to the floor, dying. Uriel twisted Dean's head, snapping his neck.
"No!" Catty told him.
Anna turned to Young Mary. Catty stood in between them, Castiel's Angel Blade in her hand, glaring at Anna, trying to keep going.
Anna stopped for a moment. "I'm really sorry."
Young John walked in, his voice deeper. "Anna."
Anna turned to face Young John, looking at him in recognition as if she saw another face. "Michael."
Young John/Michael put a hand on Anna's shoulder. Anna gasped in pain, starting to burn alive from the inside out, looking up. Fire burned high from her eyes, making her scream in pain. She continued to burn until she was nothing but charred bones, crumbling into ash. Young John/Michael looked at Young Mary and Catty, turning to face Uriel.
"Michael," Uriel told him. "I didn't know."
"Goodbye, Uriel," Young John/Michael told him, snapping his fingers.
Uriel disappeared.
"What did you do to John?" Young Mary asked.
"John is fine," Young John/Michael told her.
"Who--What are you?" Young Mary asked.
"Shh," Young John/Michael told her, touching Young Mary's forehead with two fingers, making her fall unconscious, turning to face Catty. "Well, I'd say this conversation is long overdue, wouldn't you?"
Catty looked at Sam and Dean's dead bodies. "Fix them."
"First, we talk," Young John/Michael told her. "Then I fix your darling brothers."
"How'd you get in my dad, anyway?" Catty asked.
"I told him I could save his wife, and he said yes," Young John/Michael answered.
"I guess they oversold me being your one and only vessel," Catty told him.
"You're my true vessel, but not my only one," Young John/Michael told her. "And you're not just a vessel for me, Catty. But for something else important."
"What is that supposed to mean?" Catty asked.
"It's a bloodline," Young John/Michael explained.
"A bloodline?" Catty repeated.
"Stretching back to Cain and Abel," Young John/Michael told her. "It's in your blood, your father's blood, your family's blood."
"Awesome," Catty told him. "Six degrees of Heaven Bacon. What do you want with me?"
"You really don't know the answer to that?" Young John/Michael asked.
"Well, you know I ain't gonna say yes, so why are you here?" Catty asked. "What do you want with me?"
"I just want you to understand what you and I have to do," Young John/Michael told her.
"Oh, I get it," Catty told him. "You got beef with your brother. Well, get some therapy, pal. Don't take it out on my planet."
"You're wrong," Young John/Michael told her. Catty kept glancing at Sam and Dean's bodies worriedly. "Lucifer defied our father, and he betrayed me. But still... I don't want this any more than you would want to kill Sam or Dean." Young John/Michael turned away. "You know, my brother, I practically raised him. I took care of him in a way most people could never understand, and I still love him." He turned to face Catty. "But I am going to kill him, because it is right, and I have to."
"Oh, because God says so?" Catty asked.
"Yes," Young John/Michael answered. "From the beginning, He knew this was how it was going to end."
"And you're just gonna do whatever God says," Catty told him.
"Yes, because I am a good son," Young John/Michael answered.
"Okay, well, trust me, pal," Catty told him. "Take it from someone who knows what being a good child means. That is a dead-end street."
"And you think you know better than my father?" Young John/Michael asked. "One unimportant little girl. What makes you think you get to choose?"
"Because I got to believe that I can choose what I do with my unimportant little life," Catty answered.
"You're wrong," Young John/Michael told her, turning away. "You know how I know?" He turned back. "Think of a million random acts of chance that let John and Mary be born, to meet, to fall in love, to have the three of you. Think of the million random choices that you make, and yet how each and every one of them brings you closer to your destiny. Do you know why that is? Because it's not random. It's not chance. It's a plan that is playing itself out perfectly. Free will's an illusion, Catty. That's why you're going to say yes." Catty looked from Sam to Dean. "Oh, buck up. It could be worse. You know, unlike my brothers, I won't leave you a drooling mess when I'm done wearing you."
"Well, what about my dad?" Catty asked.
"Better than new," Young John/Michael answered. "In fact, I'm gonna do your mom and your dad a favor."
"What?" Catty asked.
"Scrub their minds," Young John/Michael told her. "They won't remember me or you."
Catty shook her head. "You can't do that."
"I'm just giving your mother what she wants," Young John/Michael told her. "She can go back to her husband, her family--"
"She's gonna walk right into my nursery trying to save my life and paying the price with hers," Catty told him.
"Obviously," Young John/Michael told her, turning away. "And you always knew that was going to play out one way or another." He turned to face Catty. "You can't fight City Hall." He walked toward Sam, pressing two fingers to his forehead. Sam gasped alive. The pipe clanked to the floor. Young John/Michael walked toward Dean, pressing two fingers to his forehead. Dean gasped alive. Young John/Michael stood straight, turning to face Catty, walking closer. "They're alive. As promised. As you can see, I do keep my promises. I'll see you soon, Catty."
Young John/Michael disappeared. Sam and Dean stood, walking closer to Catty. Catty looked numb after everything that just happened.

Now
Day - Motel Room
Octavia was leaning against the table, breathing heavily, bleeding. Her eyes glowed blue from within as she used all of her strength to bring the group back from the past. Sam, Dean, Catty and Castiel appeared with their belongings.
Octavia saw that they were back, smiling in relief, tiredly. "Told you I'd be able to bring you back. And all it cost was all of my energy and some blood." She stood straight, looking lightheaded and very dizzy, on the verge of passing out, wiping the blood away. "That was a bitch to get done."
Castiel looked weak, just not as weak as Octavia.
"Ava, you're not looking so good," Sam told her.
"Thank you, Sam, Captain Obvious," Octavia told him sarcastically, exhausted.
"You okay?" Sam asked. "Ava?" Octavia nearly fell from exhaustion. Sam caught Octavia in his arms before she fell to the floor. "Octavia. Hey. Hey, hey. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Ava?"
Octavia was unconscious in Sam's arms. Castiel looked faint. Catty and Dean helped Castiel stand.
"We got you," Catty told him.
Dean looked from Octavia to Castiel. "Son of a bitch. You did it."
"I..." Castiel trailed of tiredly. "We did? I'm very surprised."
Castiel fell unconscious.
"Whoa!" Catty told him. "Cas? You're okay."
Catty and Dean helped Castiel stand.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa," Dean told him. He looked from Sam to Catty. "Beds?"
"Yeah," Sam answered. "Yeah."
Sam lifted Octavia from the floor in a cradle, walking toward the nearest bed, lying her down. Catty and Dean helped Castiel stand, pulling Castiel toward the other bed, lying him on it.
"Well, I could use that drink now," Dean told them.
"Yeah," Sam agreed.
Catty turned toward the table, pouring three drinks. "Well, this is it."
Catty turned to face Sam and Dean, handing them one each.
"This is what?" Dean asked, taking a drink.
Catty picked up her own glass. "Team Free Will. One ex-blood junkie, one dropout with six bucks to his name, Daddy's little Angel who went to Hell and back, a genius girl and her drunk father, and Mr. and Miss Comatose over there. It's awesome."
"It's not funny," Sam told her.
Catty took a drink. "I'm not laughing."
Sam sighed, looking at Catty. "They all say we'll say yes."
"I know," Catty told them. "It's getting annoying."
"What if they're right?" Sam asked.
Dean took a drink. "They're not."
"How can you be so sure, Dean?" Sam asked.
"Because I'm not gonna let either of you go through with it," Dean answered.
Sam sighed, hesitating. "I mean, why, why would we, either of us? But... I've been weak before."
"Sam," Dean told him.
"Michael got Dad to say yes," Sam told them.
"That was different," Catty told him. "Anna was about to kill Mom."
Sam looked at Catty. "And if you could save Mom... what would you say?"
Catty didn't answer, looking down at the glass in her hand, swishing it around.

Late 1978
Day - House - Dean's Nursery
Young Mary, heavily pregnant, and Young John looked over a crib.
"Where'd you even get it?" Young John asked.
"Garage sale," Young Mary answered. "25 cents."
"Well, I'm glad to hear that, anyway," Young John told her.
"Hey," Young Mary told him.
"I mean, you really don't think it's just a... little cheesy?" Young John asked.
"Mm-mm," Young Mary answered. "I think it's sweet." They were looking at a smiling angel figurine. "Can't even put my finger on why I like it. I just... like it."
"Well, then, I love it," Young John told her, kissing Young Mary, walking out, leaving.
Young Mary put her hand over her belly. "Oh. Quite a kick there. Trouble maker already. It's okay, baby. It's all okay. Angels are watching over you."
