chapter 18 - Bleeding Through

From 3.14 "The Tower", there were flashes of Tori vs. Dream Root!Tori.

Freya/Priscilla: (voice over) "Previously on Worlds Colliding (Once Upon a Time)."

From 3.14 "The Tower", there were flashes of Mathias vs. Dream Root!Mathias.

Lisa: (voice over from 3.14 The Tower) "When we face our deepest fears, our true courage comes out. When Mathias used the hilt of his sword to vanquish his fears..."

From 3.14 "The Tower", in the woods, Regina looked at the others. "They took it."

From 3.15 "Quiet Minds", in the loft, David looked at Zelena and Faye. "You're amazing."

"We're not letting you have this baby without us," Zelena told them.

From 3.15 "Quiet Minds", in the woods, Zelena and Faye were facing Gold.

"We have your beautiful brain," Zelena told him.

From 3.16 "It's Not Easy Being Green", on main street, a monkey tried to take Lisa's heart, but Lisa used bright white light magic to push it away, standing. "This showdown was a distraction so you could try to take my heart, isn't it?"

From 3.16 "It's Not Easy Being Green", on the docks, Lisa gave the box with her heart to Henry. "Could you please just take it and hide it? There's a place in the woods by a camp. Maybe you could find a place to put it there."

From 3.17 "The Jolly Roger", in the street, Zelena cursed Henry's lips. "The first time your lips touch Lisa's, all of her magic will be taken. You won't remember this."

From 3.16 "It's Not Easy Being Green", in main street, Zelena looked at Lisa angrily. "We will get your heart."

Grace smirked. "Not today."

Day One

Morning - Hatter House - Foyer

Freya was standing in front of a mirror, putting on earrings.

Jefferson walked downstairs, seeing her. "Freya."

"Jefferson," Freya replied.

"You okay?" Jefferson asked.

"When are you gonna stop asking me that?" Freya asked.

Jefferson shook his head sarcastically, putting his arms around her from behind. "Mm, until I'm sure madness and anger aren't controlling you anymore since what happened with Neal."

Freya chuckled lightly, turning to face him, still in his arms, to wrap her arms around him. "I'm fine. What about you?"

"Me?" Jefferson repeated.

"Yeah, you," Freya answered. "You spend so much time trying to make sure I'm okay. Let me do the same for you."

Jefferson chuckled, shaking his head. "You don't have to worry about me, Cilla."

They shared a slow, sweet, passionate kiss, remaining in each other's arms.

Freya sighed sadly, leaning her head on his chest. "I miss him so much."

Jefferson nodded sadly in sympathy and understanding. "I know. Me too."

Living Room

Freya and Jefferson walked in to see Lisa and Grace sitting with the three Matthews, Alcina and Regina.

"What are you guys doing here?" Jefferson asked.

"Trying to figure out a spell," Grace answered. "You know, to get Henry to remember."

"And it's not working," Saphira told them. "Nothing's working."

"And it's sad because Lisa gave her heart to Henry for him to hide and he can't even remember why," Grace told them.

Lisa sighed. "What? You gonna start teasing me like you and Rose do all the time about Henry? Aren't you, Grace?"

"Not right now," Grace answered.

"No?" Lisa asked, unconvinced.

"No," Grace answered. "You know why? It's not as much fun because you don't give the same cute funny reactions you did. Because you don't have your heart right now. It's not as much fun."

Lisa nodded sarcastically. The others smirked in amusement.

"We'll figure it out," Tori told them. "Promise."

Mathias looked behind them to see a basket filled with green apples appear. "Uh... guys?"

They followed his gaze, all surprised and confused. Zelena and Faye appeared behind them.

"A gift," Faye told them. "Basically our entire family is here, besides Belle, Henry and Rose, so from us to our family."

"What are you doing here?" Regina asked.

Zelena picked up a red apple. "Red apples are so sickly sweet, don't you think? People tend to like something a little sharper."

"And green apples are just bitter," Alcina replied.

Faye picked up one of Lisa's dolls.

Lisa took it away from her. "That's not yours."

Faye smirked slightly in amusement. "Story of my life."

"Why are you here?" Saphira asked.

Zelena walked past Freya tauntingly, knowing she could barely control her anger when she was around because of Neal. Freya tried very hard to control it, turning to Jefferson, who helped her remain calm while they were there.

Faye looked over them all. "Oh, familial concerns, familial advice, you know. I wanted to make sure you were all all right after everything."

"We're fine," Tori answered. "Are you?"

Faye smirked. "Getting there."

"Probably has something to do with the fact you pretended to be Ariel for a whole day just to be with us," Mathias told her. "Why would you do that, Faye?"

Zelena turned to look at Faye in surprise.

Faye smiled sheepishly. "Maybe I just wanted to take a closer look at the competition."

"Seems more to me that you were trying to figure out if we really hated you or not," Saphira told her. "And you got your answer. We don't."

"You heard it from us yourself," Tori told her. "We want to help you, Faye."

"You even heard it from Belle," Mathias agreed. "Even your aunt thinks you can be saved."

"Well, I'm going to warn you Matthews/Frenches right now to stop trying," Zelena told them. "Not everyone can be saved, and while yes, I did use Tori and Mathias to create Faye into a creature like Saphira, she is my family, and the only one I have that cares."

"Maybe Regina and Alcina would care about you if you didn't kill Neal," Lisa replied. "And if you didn't taunt Alcina and Freya about it every chance you get."

Zelena didn't answer, examining the room, taking a seat on the sofa. "This is nice. So luxurious. You Hatters have something in common with Regina, besides Freya sharing Alcina as a sister with me and Regina. You really don't appreciate what you have, do you?"

Regina nodded sarcastically. "Right, because we got everything and you have nothing. If you want your superpower to be envy, go right ahead."

"'Envy' is just another word for 'ambition'," Zelena told them.

"Well, that's just not true," Alcina told her.

"You see, Faye and I strive for things, we work," Zelena told them. She looked at Regina, scoffing. "You--you cast a Curse that was just a fancy form of running away. With every advantage, you still turn your back on every opportunity for happiness." She looked at Alcina. "And you, ever since being released from the prisons our mother put you in repeatedly, you have sat back and watched life pass you by because you believe you don't deserve to live it. Alcina, Regina, you just don't take risks, you don't live your lives. It's such a waste." Zelena stood, admiring the mantle. "I can see why our mother was so disappointed in you."

"Disappointed in us?" Regina asked. "She gave you away."

"You have no idea what really happened, and that's exactly what's going to hurt you," Zelena told them. "And you three Matthews. Tori, I've hated you since before I even knew you, because I knew you were going to fall for Mathias, and I knew Mathias was going to fall for you. You stole Mathias from me and made Saphira, a daughter of your own that should have been me in the place of you. Which is exactly why I used you and Mathias to create Faye, to give me back what was taken from me, and made her into something quite like Saphira so she wouldn't have to feel like she was beneath her, like you three have always made me feel like."

"Get over yourself, Zelena," Saphira told her. "Whatever you're feeling, it's not because of your love. It's because of your obsession."

"Mathias was never yours," Tori told her. "He never loved you. What became of the three of us was never your concern."

"And while all of that may be true, this doesn't have to fall on you, Faye," Mathias told her. "This doesn't have to hurt you. You came to us and Belle wondering if we hated you."

"Because you actually care," Freya told her. "You wanna be like Zelena? Or do you wanna be like Tori, Saphira and Mathias?"

"I wanna be like me," Faye answered. "None of you seem to know what that is."

"You didn't come here to give us 'familial advice'," Jefferson told them. "Why are you really here?"

"So perceptive, Jefferson," Faye told him. "We're here because I wanted to make sure none of you weren't someplace else so we can take what we need. Or rather, the Dark One could."

Zelena laughed. "I found out who Lisa gave her heart to on accident, actually, and when I did, I knew how to get the secret out of him."

"What did you do to Henry?" Lisa asked numbly, a little angry.

"Oh, nothing that hurt him," Faye answered. "Something that could hurt you, though. All Mama had to do was pretend to be you to get the information we needed, though he said you told him to not tell anyone, not even yourself, but poor dear without his memory wouldn't understand why he would want to listen to such a request. Which is why we sent Rumple out to get it. Do you feel it, Lisa? He's taking your heart."

Everyone was horrified. Jefferson picked up two knives, throwing them at Faye and Zelena, only for them to disappear.

Woods

Gold was going after Lisa's heart, but Robin, Derek and their merry men were stalling him with their weapons.

"Stop right there," Derek told him. "You know this arrow never misses its mark."

"If I could stand down, I would," Gold told them. "Heed me, give me the heart." Roland walked closer, carrying firewood. "And who is this?"

"Roland, go back!" Robin told him.

"Come here, little boy," Gold told him.

Robin shook his head pleadingly. "Don't! Please!"

"I don't want to," Gold told them. "I really don't. Come closer, little boy."

Gold magically forced Roland forward.

Roland yelled for help. "Daddy! Uncle Derek!"

Gold stopped Roland where he was, using magic to push him down. "And stop."

"Daddy, Uncle Derek, help!" Roland cried.

Derek was deathly worried for his nephew. "I didn't want to do this either."

Derek shot his arrow.

Gold magically caught it in midair, magically turning the arrow in Roland's direction. "It never misses its target, and I've just changed the target. If I drop my finger..."

"No!" Robin told him. The other merry men attempted to come forward, only for Gold to freeze them into place. "Wait! Wait."

Robin walked up to a tree, taking out the box containing Lisa's heart, handing it over.

"Thank you, and I am sorry, truly," Gold told him, sending the arrow flying until it was inches from Roland before letting it drop to the ground, disappearing in red smoke.

Roland ran into Robin's waiting arms.

"It's okay," Robin told him. "It's okay, boy."

Derek also embraced Roland. "You're safe." The Matthews, Hatters and Alcina appeared, walking closer. Derek handed Roland over to Friar Tuck. "Go to Friar Tuck."

"What happened?" Grace asked.

"I'm sorry," Derek told them. "It's gone."

"Was anyone hurt?" Lisa asked.

Derek looked from Roland to the others. "Luckily, no. Again, I must apologize. We let you down."

"No, you didn't," Lisa told them. "Nothing's worth the loss of a child. But now we have problem. I'm alive."

Robin shook his head in confusion. "I don't follow."

"They have Lisa's heart," Saphira told them. "Gold's taken it for them. And since they haven't crushed it and killed her, that means they need it for something far worse."

"Worse than murder?" Robin asked. "What are they planning?"

Tori sighed, shaking her head in determination. "It doesn't matter. Because we're going to stop them."

Gold's Pawnshop

The Matthews, Hatters, Alcina and Regina were looking around.

"This is all useless crap," Mathias told them.

Belle heard the clattering from the backroom, walking in. "Hey! Hey, hey. Stop. Stop it! What--what are you looking for?"

"We need to stop Zelena and Faye," Mathias told her. "They have Lisa's heart."

Belle looked at Lisa nervously.

"Oh, relax," Grace told her. "They can't control Lisa with it."

"Lisa has a wand that can control her," Jefferson pointed out. "If they wanted to control her, they would go for the wand instead. They have her heart for something else."

"The problem is, we don't know what they're planning on using it for," Freya told her. "Which is why we need to stop Zelena and Faye and take Zelena out."

Alcina looked at Belle. "That's why we need your help. What do you have here?"

"What do I have here?" Belle repeated angrily. "Self-respect." She looked at Regina and Alcina. "Why on earth or any realm would I help you? Before you were locked away, Alcina, you helped Regina try to capture Tori, and after you were locked away, Regina imprisoned me in a tower in her castle, then put me, Saphira and Tori for 28 years, who's done nothing but mentally and physically torture me ever since we've known each other."

Regina smirked. "Huh, bookworm's got teeth."

"I'll help Freya, Jefferson, Lisa and Grace, and of course I'll help Tori, Saphira and Mathias, but you two, get out," Belle told them.

Alcina sighed. "Yes, we did all those horrible things in the past, but right now, we need something to defeat the two women who's puppet mastering your boyfriend, AKA my father, and Freya's father, one of whom is responsible for our brother's death. They have your Rumple, and unless you help us, you may never see him again. I'm sorry, Belle, I really, really am, and you know I've changed, and that Gina's changed."

Belle clearly felt a little guilty for going off on Alcina like that.

"If you don't wanna help Regina and Alcina, help us," Tori told her. "Belle, please. If I can forgive them, why can't you, especially when Alcina is Freya's sister, Rumple's daughter, Grace's aunt, Jefferson's sister in law, and she just lost her brother?"

Belle knew she had a point, sighing, giving in. "So, I've been trying to match the ingredients that Zelena and Faye have been collecting to whatever spell they intend to cast. It would really help if I knew what is so special about Lisa's heart. Do they want it just because she's the Light Bringer, or..."

Lisa sighed. "We have no idea."

Freya remembered something. "The candle. Where's the candle?"

Saphira picked up a candelabra. "Here?"

"Not that candle, Liberace," Freya answered. "The two-sided candle Papa got Ally to use and kill Cora. Where's that?"

Belle opened a cabinet, revealing the candle. "Its power's gone now. It's just a relic."

Freya took the candle. "Yes, that's it."

"This isn't about how our mother died," Regina told them. "This is about how she lived."

Day - Tavern

Young Cora worked as a bar maid, before she had any of her daughters yet.

A man handed her a tray containing multiple mugs of beer. "Here you go, Cora."

A bar patron called for her. "Cora! There she is."

Young Cora handed the man his bear, gracefully attempting to work her way past several drunk men to the next patron. "Here you go." One of the drunk men reached for her waist. "Oh, off with you!"

Another drunken man grabbed Young Cora. "Give us a dance, lassie!"

Young Cora worked herself away from him. "Oh, let go, Charlie." She bumped into another man named Jonathan. "Oh, I'm so sorry."

"Sit down, Cora," Jonathan told her. "You've already worked past the end of your shift. I daresay you've earned it."

Young Cora sat across from him. "Thank you."

"You know, I've watched you this whole week that I've been here," Jonathan told her. "You work in a tavern, but you move like a lady."

Young Cora smirked. "I'm just a miller's daughter. I earn a little extra here. Someone once told me to act like what you plan to be, so I try to be a little better than what I am."

Jonathan chuckled. "Oh, I wish I could stay, but tomorrow, I must press on. I've already stayed longer than I planned."

"Have you?" Young Cora asked. "Why?"

"I think you know why," Jonathan told her, dropping a small cloth adorned with the crest of the royal family in front of Young Cora. "Oh, that's--I didn't want you to..."

Young Cora was stunned breathless. "The royal crest."

"I wanted you to know me as me, not 'Prince Jonathan'," Jonathan told her.

Young Cora mused to herself. "Prince Jonathan."

"With all the noblewomen, I end up feeling like the last kernel of corn in the hen house," Jonathan told her. "But you, you put me in my place when I'm wrong."

"And you are wrong pretty often," Young Cora told him.

They laughed.

"This isn't how it's supposed to go, but I hoped to only ask this question once in my life, but I'm going to ask it twice," Jonathan told her. "Once now with this..." He leaned down to pick up a piece of straw, tying it into a makeshift ring. "Ring made of straw, but I will come back in two weeks and turn this ring into gold. Well, I'll bring you a gold one. And I'll whisk you away to the castle as Princess Cora." He placed the 'ring' on her finger. "Will you marry me?"

Young Cora smiled. "Yes. Yes!"

Jonathan kissed her hand. "You've made me so happy. Oh, but these next two weeks are going to be torture. Meet me at the crossroads so we don't waste any time."

Young Cora nodded. "I'll be there. When do you have to leave?"

"Very early tomorrow, I'm afraid," Jonathan answered.

"The tavern closes soon," Young Cora hinted.

Jonathan chuckled. "Well, then..."

"But, seeing as how we're essentially married, perhaps I can keep your company in your room," Young Cora told him.

Jonathan stood, taking Young Cora's hand, and both left the room.

Rose and Ella walked in.

Ella saw that a thoughtful Killian looking at a green apple in his hand. "I'd watch out for the apples in this town."

Killian nodded. "Aye."

"It was a joke," Ella told him. "Where's your sense of humor?"

Killian looked at her, smirking. "It left when the witches arrived."

"Well, we're gonna take care of that," Rose told him. "Aunt Freya, Lisa, Grace and Uncle Jefferson said that they have a plan. With Mathias, Tori, Saphira, Mom and Aunt Ally."

"I'm sure they do," Killian told them.

Emma, David and Snow walked in.

"Emma?" David asked. "Ella? Will you please tell your mother that we're not gonna name your brother 'Leopold'? Rose, tell your grandmother."

"Uh... why not?" Snow asked. "It was my father's name?"

"People will make fun of him," Emma answered.

"My father was a king," Snow pointed out.

"Which is why nobody made fun of him," David replied.

Snow sighed. "Okay. What about 'Eva'? After my mother?"

"I don't know how that'll work with a boy," Emma told her.

Snow shrugged. "It might not be a boy."

Living Room

Killian and the Charmings walked in to see the Hatters, Matthews, Alcina and Regina setting up.

"Sorry to keep you waiting," Rose told them.

"It's fine," Killian told them. "They've been setting up."

"We were making this special tea," Mathias explained, serving tea to three places at the table. David reached for a glass. Mathias stopped him. "No, don't drink it. It's a deadly poison summoning the Dark Vortex."

David looked shamed. "I prefer Earl Grey."

Emma frowned in confusion. "The dark... what?"

"Faye and Zelena came by this morning," Grace explained. "While Grandpa was stealing Lisa's heart, they were here gloating. They said that our weakness was that we don't know enough of their past."

"So we have decided to summon someone who does," Saphira told them. "We have to talk to Cora."

Freya looked at Regina and Alcina. Alcina looked down sadly in shame.

Zelena and Faye's Farmhouse

Faye took Lisa's heart out of a box, speaking to a screeching flying monkey. "Yes, I know, it looks purer than anything, but that's the point." She placed the heart into a spelled box, storing the box inside a suitcase, walking over to a wardrobe, opening it, taking out a black dress. "This will do perfectly." The monkey made an angry noise. Faye smirked. "Oh, don't be jealous. I'm not going out with anyone. I'm just leaving the house long enough to give Mama her time with the Dark One." She used magic and a swirl of green/blue smoke to change into the black dress, with heels, jewelry, makeup, and a beautiful hairdo. "Yes. That's perfect."

Zelena walked toward her. "You never told me about you pretending to be the mermaid for a day to spend it with Tori, Saphira, Mathias and Belle."

"And you lied to me about how they really feel about me," Faye replied. "Guess we all have our flaws, don't we, Mother?"

"Don't you see what they're trying to do, Faye?" Zelena asked. "They're trying to turn you against me?"

Faye chuckled. "They didn't say anything that would turn me against you, Mama. They just made it clear they don't hate me as much as you want me to believe, so that I'll do as you say. Have fun tonight."

Faye walked out, leaving the house for the day. Zelena was stunned, sighing in frustration.

Cellar

Zelena was offering an outfit to Gold.

Gold looked at her suspiciously. "What do you want me to do with this?"

"What do you think?" Zelena replied. "Wear it. Faye and I have Lisa's heart, Mathias's courage, and right in here, ready to be plucked, your lovely brains." Gold jerked back his head when she tried to touch his temple. "We've got everything we need. It's a good time to celebrate, don't you think?"

"You don't have everything," Gold told her sullenly.

"The baby will come," Zelena told him. "Now let's get you dressed."

"I'm not your doll," Gold told her.

"Aren't you?" Zelena asked. "I'm not using the dagger, but I could. A certain baby could be here at any minute. And now we're waiting for a memoryless Henry to plant a kiss with Lisa to make her lose her power so the girl with the most powerful light magic can't stop us, so I'm going to give you a choice on how you want to live out the rest of this time. One choice is, screaming agony. The other is much more pleasant. Choose well, doll."

Zelena turned around, leaving.

Hatter House - Living Room

The Hatters, Matthews, Regina and Alcina were explaining to the Charmings and Killian about the spell they were planning.

"It's a fairly simple ritual," Tori told them. "But not often performed."

"If it's easy to talk to the dead, why don't do it more?" Rose asked.

"Well, because to do it, you need the murder weapon and the murderer," Mathias answered.

Alcina winced, looking down. Regina lit the candle.

"What do we need to do?" Snow asked.

"Focus on Cora," Lisa answered.

"Welcoming thoughts?" Killian asked.

"Whatever you've got," Lisa answered.

"Is it..." Snow trailed off.

"Shh," Rose told them.

Saphira, Mathias, Ella, Rose, Emma, Regina, Alcina, Freya, Grace and Lisa took each other by the hands in a large circle standing around the table to use their combined power to make the spell work. Snow, David, Jefferson and Killian sat at the table in front of them with the candle, looking up. After a moment, a portal opened above.

"We did it," Emma told them.

"Cora?" Saphira called.

"Mother, can you hear us?" Regina asked. "Cora, give us a sign."

The open portal swirled, but no one emerged.

"Do not ignore us now, Mother," Alcina told her. "Please, you owe us this."

The table rocked slightly. Startled, everyone let go of each other's hands. The portal closed.

"Sorry, love," Killian told them. "That was me. I crossed my legs and bumped the table."

Alcina sighed, blowing out the candle.

"Do we try again?" Rose asked.

"No," Jefferson answered. "There's no point. It worked."

"The portal opened," Rose told them. "But nothing came from it."

Alcina sighed. "She doesn't wanna talk to me."

"I guess whatever secrets lie in her past, she wants to keep buried there," Grace told them.

Everyone exchanged a look, sighing.

Day - Road

Young Cora walked down the road, where it was wearing, finding Jonathan in a garden inside a pavilion waiting. "Jonathan! Jonathan! Jonathan, it's me. What happened? It's been two months. My friends said it was a trick, but I said, 'no, it must be an accident or a misunderstanding, that I'd find out at the castle. And here you are."

Jonathan turned around. "You're a stubborn one, aren't you?"

Young Cora noticed that he wore gumboots, shocked. "Are you the gardener?"

"Well, I'm not Prince Jonathan," Jonathan answered. "Of course, there is no Prince Jonathan."

Young Cora became angry. "You lied to me. You took my heart, my virtue, my good name."

Jonathan scoffed. "I took? You practically forced it in my hands, when you thought that I was a prince. A harlot is a harlot."

"I'm with child," Young Cora explained. "I'm going to have a baby. There may be no Prince Jonathan, but there is a prince, and how would he feel, when I tell him what you've done? Give me enough to support this child. You stole before, do it again."

"Yeah, go ahead and tell him," Jonathan told her. "Good luck finding me."

Young Cora tried to stop him as he fought her off. "Guards! Guards! There's a scoundrel in the garden. Guards, help me!"

Jonathan pushed her to the ground, dashing away.

Young Prince Leopold arrived. "Are you all right? What happened to you? You were calling for help?"

"He got away," Young Cora told him. "Just a bandit on the road. He took everything I had."

Young Leopold helped her up. "I'm so sorry to hear that. Come with me. We'll do everything we can for you."

"There's nothing you can do for me," Young Cora told him.

"Allow me to try," Young Leopold told her. "I'm Prince Leopold."

Young Cora was taken aback, bowing. "Thank you, your highness."

Everyone was talking.

"Maybe Belle will have more luck," David told them. "There has to be something that can help us."

"Right," Emma told them. "My magic gets more powerful every day. So does Ella and Rose's. And Grace's. Freya, Regina, Lisa, Saphira, Mathias and Alcina's are already strong as it is. By the time this all goes down? We'll be ready."

Rose sighed. "I hope we are. Come on. Let's go."

"You know what?" Emma asked. "I'm gonna stay and talk to Freya, Jefferson, Grace and Lisa. I'll help clean up."

"Well, Emma, I hope you know that'll mean you'll have to be near me and Ally," Regina told her.

Emma shrugged. "I'm getting used to it."

"All right," Ella told them. "We'll leave you to it."

"I wanna stay, too," Rose told them.

Ella nodded in understanding, stroking Rose's hair back. "All right, Rose. We'll be back soon."

The Charmings, minus Emma and Rose, Killian and the Matthews left.

Rose turned to her best friend to make sure she was okay. "Lisa..."

"I'm not in the mood for a heart to heart, Rose," Lisa told her.

"I'm not sure that's physically possible right now," Rose replied. Lisa chuckled. "I honestly can't wait for you to get your heart back. And for Henry to get his memory back. It'll be more fun to tease you two that way."

Grace smiled. "That's exactly what I said. It would be way more much fun."

The others chuckled.

"You can help with the spell work," Jefferson told them. "I'll get the tea cups."

"Surprise, surprise," Lisa told him sarcastically, before looking at the others. "Of course Jefferson would deal with the tea."

They chuckled, walking along. While they were cleaning up, they were unaware due to an known spell the front door vanished.

Young Cora was walking with Young Leopold. "There it was, my oldest night dress. The boys tied it to the top of the windmill, flapping in the wind for the whole village to see, and I'm the maddest eight year old you ever saw."

Young Leopold chuckled. "Did you ever get your revenge for that?"

Young Cora smirked. "That's a long term plan. You see, there aren't that many young people in that village, and odds are, one of them will end up married to me. That should do it."

Young Leopold smiled. "You're wonderful." Young Cora shivered lightly. "And cold."

Young Cora nodded. "It's a bit frosty, but I'm okay."

"Uh, I'd build a fire for you, but I'm embarrassed to say, I don't know how," Young Leopold admitted.

Young Cora gave him a smile. "I do."

Young Cora unsheathed his dagger, taking preparations to build a fire.

Young Leopold sat down beside her. "I'm going to be king."

"I gather that happens when you're a prince," Young Cora told him.

"And I wanna do right by that gift," Young Leopold went on. "I keep telling myself I wanna be a man of the people and then I realize I can't even build a fire. A task every peasant can do."

"Well, this peasant can fix that," Young Cora told him, handing Young Leopold his dagger, beginning to puff, bringing him closer, showing him smoldering moss. "See, just have to let air get in."

They both sat down next to the fire.

"When the throne becomes mine, I'll need to provide an heir of my own," Young Leopold explained.

"You'll have to marry," Young Cora told him.

Young Leopold nodded. "And start a family immediately."

"That actually sounds nice," Young Cora told him. "Anyone in mind?"

"Yes," Young Leopold answered, turning away. "Princess Eva from the northern kingdom. We've been engaged since her birth."

"Oh, is she nice?" Young Cora asked.

"I'll let you know after I meet her, which is tonight," Young Leopold explained.

"You don't sound very excited," Young Cora pointed out. "I'm sure she's a lovely choice."

"I'm sure she is," Young Leopold agreed. "She's just not a choice I made."

"What's the use of having power if you can't choose who to wed?" Young Cora asked.

Young Leopold turned to face her.

The Hatters, Emma, Rose, Regina and Alcina were cleaning up.

Alcina took a deep breath. "I wanna apologize again, Gina. For Cora. For..."

"Murdering our mother," Regina finished.

"Right, yeah," Alcina answered. "I don't take it lightly. I think about it every day."

Regina turned to face her. "So do I, and when I do think about it, I remember every horrible thing she's ever done to you, and what she manipulated me into wanting to do, by trying to kill Freya, Jefferson, Lisa and Grace, and Gold, because she was afraid of losing you, and made me afraid of losing you, too, and Henry and Rose, so I'll admit that it's complicated." She looked at the others. "And I nearly helped her kill all of you, and Emma, Ella, Snow, David, Tori, Saphira and Mathias, so I'm sorry."

They nodded.

"Thank you," Freya told her. "We never tried to steal Ally away from you, Regina. I hope you know that."

Regina nodded.

Emma looked at Regina and Alcina. "I'm sure you had some things you wanted to say to Cora."

Regina scoffed. "Yes, well, we're realizing that our mother walled off a lot of her life from us. She wasn't the warmest mother, but at least we thought we occupied a singular spot in her heart." She sighed. "Another sister, Zelena; why would she give her up, and why would she make us strangers to one another, like she did to Alcina and Freya?"

Rose heard something. "What's that?"

"I have no idea," Lisa told them.

"It's upstairs," Grace told them.

They walked out of the kitchen.

Upstairs Hallway

They slowly approached a door.

"It's in there," Emma told them.

Jefferson frowned. "There isn't anything in this room. It's..." Before they could open the door, it shattered. Inside the room sat the spirit of the Young Cora. "Cora?"

Granny's Diner

Ella was sitting at the counter, focusing on teleporting a cup of hot cocoa to the table where Killian was sitting, smiling when she did it. "Boom, Granny's to go." She stood, walking toward the table to sit down, smiling. "I should open a franchise."

Killian chuckled. "It's impressive."

"You want to see something really impressive?" Ella asked, waving her hand, magically teleporting Killian's hook onto a light hanging from the ceiling.

Killian sighed, standing. "That's bad form, Ella, tampering with a man's hook."

Ella tilted her head. "Okay, seriously, what is up with you?"

Killian put his hook back on. "I apologize for my rudeness. It's a long story. Too long for now. Let's just say seeing Faye pose as Ariel, and the way I found out it was Faye the entire time... she said some things that got under my skin."

Ella stood, reaching out to place a hand on his. "You wanna talk about it?" Killian looked from her hand on his up to her. "I am all ears, if you need to talk."

Killian didn't get the chance to answer before Tori, Saphira and Mathias walked in with Belle.

"Ella," Belle told her excitedly. "Ella, we found it."

"We have to tell Freya, Jefferson, Lisa and Grace and the others," Tori told them.

"Okay, Tori, slow down," Ella told her. "What did you, Saphira, Mathias and Belle find?"

"Faye and Zelena's plan," Saphira answered.

Mathias sighed. "We figured out what they're doing."

Ella and Killian looked at them expectantly.

Zelena and Faye's Farmhouse

Zelena and Gold were dressed for a dinner party.

"You should have a woman dress you more often," Zelena told him. "Please, do have a seat."

Gold glared. "I wonder how much civility I'll be asked to endure before this evening's true purpose is revealed."

Zelena chuckled. "Relax. You know I'm not one for subtlety."

"Oh, how lucky for me," Gold told her sarcastically.

"Play coy if you like, but we both know that it wasn't a dagger that brought you into my kitchen," Zelena told him. "Don't worry, Faye's not here."

"Well, coercion takes many forms, my dear, but I can assure you, I'm not here for the boiled peas," Gold told her.

Zelena smirked. "No, you're here for our secret, aren't you? Why Lisa's heart? Why Mathias's courage? Why your brain? Why Snow and David's baby? And more to the point, why is it of any interest to me and Faye? Because our secret will reunite you with your long lost son."

Gold only became more angry. "My son if not lost, he's dead. You watched him die."

"This isn't idle cruelty," Zelena told him. "I promise you, he's alive and waiting for you and your daughters to find him."

"Find him where?" Gold asked.

"Not where, when," Zelena told him. "Faye and I are going to change the past."

Gold scoffed. "No, time travel spells have been written since the dawn of the dark arts but never cast; it's against the fundamental laws of magic."

Zelena chuckled. "Magic doesn't fail, people fail. Laws only exist until they're broken by someone, or someones, superior."

"You and Faye deciphered the laws of time travel?" Gold asked skeptically.

Zelena nodded. "When that baby's born, Faye and I are going back to claim the life that we deserved, and there's no reason that you can't come with us, to find Baelfire, to know that Alcina was your daughter from beginning, to raise them right by Priscilla's side ever since the beginning of your little family. What do you say?"

Hatter House - Attic

The Hatters, Emma, Rose, Regina and Alcina looked at the spirit of Young Cora in shock.

"This can't be," Lisa told them. "The spell opened a limited portal for talking."

"It's me," Alcina realized. "I killed Cora. Mother sensed my presence and found a way to bleed through into our world."

Young Cora flew closer, right for Alcina. Regina and Freya both put themselves in front of Alcina to protect her from Young Cora.

"Watch out," Emma told them worriedly.

"Back down, Mother," Regina told her. "You will answer our questions. Now, tell us, what did you do to Zelena?"

Young Cora used ghostly magic to push everyone out of the way of her way to Alcina, floating closer. Lisa used magic to teleport them all away in clouds of white smoke and lights.

Living Room

Lisa brought everyone here. Young Cora floated through the wall to get inside. Freya (purple), Grace (light purple/pink), Lisa (white), Rose (rose red), Regina and Alcina (black) and Emma (gold) used magic to keep Young Cora's spirit away.

Jefferson was stunned. "Oh, you're holding her off."

"But we can't hold her forever," Rose told them.

Jefferson looked around for something that could be a permanent solution.

Day - Castle - Outside

Young Cora had been newly engaged to Young Leopold, dressed as a princess.

Jonathan arrived. "Well, low and behold, it turned into gold after all."

Young Cora glared at him. "How dare you? You must have the brain the size of a pixie to show your face in this kingdom."

"Well, I had to see for myself if the commoner who said yes to Prince Leopold was the same one who said it to me," Jonathan replied. "Several times in one night. It was quite impressive."

"In two days, I will be a princess, and you will bow down and count yourself lucky to pull the weeds at my feet," Young Cora told him.

Jonathan chuckled. "Been practicing in front of a mirror, eh? You're as much of a fraud as I ever was."

Young Cora narrowed her eyes. "My love for Prince Leopold is true, as is his for me."

"But does he know how much of you there is to love?" Jonathan asked. "Or were you hoping to keep our baby a secret?"

Young Cor looked around worriedly. "What is it you want? Gold, jewels?"

"Mm, yes, whatever you can get," Jonathan answered. "Enough for me to live happily for the rest of my days, just like you wanted from me. Bring it here tomorrow night and your secret shall remain just that."

"It will be done," Young Cora told him. "Now leave before someone sees you."

Jonathan smirked, leaving. Young Eva had been listening from a short distance away.

A woman approached her. "Princess Eva, your carriage awaits. Princess Eva?"

Young Eva sighed. "I'm coming."

The Hatters, Regina, Alcina, Emma and Rose were still using magic to hold the spirit of Young Cora at bay.

"I don't know how much longer we can hold her off," Grace told them.

"Mother, I'm sorry," Alcina told her sadly.

"She's your daughter," Emma told her. "You were going to kill everyone she loved."

"Save your breath," Regina told her. "Your mother is nothing like our mother. She only understands power and weakness."

"But if she wants to kill Ally, she's gonna have to go through all of us," Freya told them. "This isn't about Alcina, Cora. It's about you and your oldest daughter."

"It's time for answers," Emma told her.

"What did you do to Zelena?" Rose asked.

Alcina got impatient, no longer using magic, appearing in front of the others, facing the spirit of her mother.

"No!" Grace told her.

Rose and Grace spoke together worriedly. "Aunt Ally!"

Everyone gasped as Young Cora flew into Alcina to momentarily take possession of her, making her fall unconscious. Regina and Freya caught Alcina from falling worriedly, kneeling down to hold her. Jefferson, Grace, Lisa, Rose and Emma watched in complete shock. While Young Cora's spirit was inside Alcina, she was showing her everything.

Night - Castle

Young Cora was getting what she needed to pay off Jonathan, about to leave, jumping when she saw Young Leopold. "My love, you frightened me."

"What are you doing in the great hall at this hour?" Young Leopold asked.

"Well, a wedding won't plan itself, and there's endless amounts of work to be done," Young Cora told him. "Is something wrong?"

"Word has spread throughout the castle that--that you are with child," Young Leopold answered.

Young Cora sighed. "My love, I am so sorry for the terrible trouble that this lie has brought upon you."

"Gossip means nothing to me," Young Leopold told her. "I've pledged to marry you, dear Cora, and I will keep that pledge as long as I know I can trust you."

Young Cora nodded in understanding, but still chose to lie. "There is no baby. Only my love for you."

Young Eva walked in. "You only love yourself."

"What is she doing here?" Young Cora asked.

"Princess Eva is here because she overheard your rendezvous in the garden yesterday," Young Leopold answered.

"And just as I said, the miller's daughter is a worthless liar," Young Eva told him.

Young Cora glared at her. "You awful child." She looked at Young Leopold. "Yes, I was in the garden yesterday. There was a man roaming the grounds. I feared he might steal something, so I made him leave. Whatever else Eva has told you is the invention of a jealous brat who would say anything to marry you."

"Check her pockets," Young Eva told him.

"No," Young Cora told him.

Young Leopold pulled out treasures from Young Cora's pockets, sighing. "There's nothing left to say."

"You deserve better than her lies," Young Eva told him.

Two guards came to take Young Cora away.

Young Cora gasped. "Leopold! Don't let me go!"

After they were gone, Young Leopold sighed. "Come, Eva. Help me break this terrible news to the king."

"Today your heart aches, your highness, but I promise a more worthy wife will give you the child that you deserve," Young Eva told him. "One that will be pure. Pure as snow."

Night - Hatter House - Living Room

Jefferson was trying to wake Alcina up. "Alcina!"

"Hold on," Freya told her. "We won't let you go."

Emma, Regina, Freya, Grace, Lisa and Rose used their power to pull the spirit of Young Cora out of Alcina's body. David, Snow, Ella, Killian, Tori, Saphira and Mathias arrived to see this. Seeing it, Ella, Saphira and Mathias used their power to reopen the portal in the ceiling so they could send Young Cora's spirit back through, closing the portal.

"What the hell was that?" David asked.

"Cora," Ella answered. They all turned to Alcina. "Is she okay?"

"Alcina?" Saphira asked. "Can you hear us?"

Alcina coughed, waking up, speaking weakly. "Cora, not what we thought. She was trying to communicate."

"She was?" David asked. "What'd she say?"

"Leopold and Eva..." Alcina trailed off.

"Leopold?" Snow repeated. "My father. Eva. My mother."

"Shh," Tori told her. "Alcina, relax."

"She's not making sense," Mathias told them. "We need to call a doctor."

"If she knows something that could help us..." David trailed off.

"David, it's gonna have to wait," Ella told him.

"It can't wait," Snow disagreed. "If we want to stop Zelena and Faye, we have to know what the hell they're doing. And why. And how my parents are involved in it."

Belle walked in. "Tori, Saphira, Mathias and I can help with half of that."

"What?" David asked.

"They're planning on going back," Saphira answered. "Back in time."

"Are you certain?" Lisa asked. "No one's been able to cast a spell to go back in time."

"Well, clearly, they think they can succeed," Tori told them. "I mean, brains, courage, heart? Those ingredients are in every time travel spell we've found."

"Why go back in time?" David asked. "I mean, we have no idea what they're trying to accomplish."

"I do," Alcina whispered. "She--She didn't..."

"Don't push yourself," Mathias told her.

Alcina raised her head. "She didn't want to give up Zelena, but she was forced to by Eva."

"By my mother?" Snow asked.

Alcina nodded. "She told a secret."

Snow was in shock. "Just like I did."

"Wait," Ella told them. "I thought our family were the good guys."

Killian sighed. "Life is too messy for it to ever be that simple."

David looked at Alcina. "You're saying if it wasn't for Snow's mother, Cora would have kept Zelena."

"She would have been tutored by Rumplestiltskin," Belle told them.

"All if it weren't for this Princess Eva?" Killian asked.

"So that means..." Grace trailed off.

"Zelena's going back to kill Snow's mother," Jefferson finished.

Mathias looked at Snow. "You'll never have been born."

Emma looked at Regina. "I'm guessing this is where your help ends."

"Now think it through, Emma," Regina told her. "That means you and Ella would have never been born. And neither would Henry and Rose."

"And on this different path, Regina and Alcina may not be either," Freya added.

"But what else would Zelena do?" Belle asked. "I mean, she hated that Tori supposedly took Mathias away from her. That Saphira got the family that she thought that Faye deserved."

"She would want to kill Tori," Killian told them. "To keep Mathias to herself. Meaning Saphira wouldn't have been born. That Faye's birth would be quite different as well."

"And Zelena also said that there would be a time for her to fight with Freya," Saphira told them. "Because in her eyes, she blames Freya for Gold not choosing her. She would try to get Freya out of the way so that Gold would choose her."

"Meaning that Grace would never have been born," Mathias told them. "And meaning that Jefferson would be completely insane. And that Lisa would still be in that warlock's grasp that Freya, Jefferson and Grace had saved her from."

"Or worse," Tori agreed.

"It's a good thing no one has ever succeeded with this time travel nonsense," Killian told them.

"No one's ever had the heart of the Light Bringer, either," Lisa replied. "Or the brain of the Dark One. The courage of a Dragon witch. A baby born of true love."

"What?" Ella asked.

"All of those things were missing," David realized. "It had to be specific hearts, brains, or courage, and a baby. That's why none have succeeded. Somehow, some way, our baby is the final key. Faye and Zelena went to a lot of effort to get close to our unborn child. That's what they're after."

Snow put a protective hand over her belly. "What are they gonna do with..."

"It doesn't matter," Ella assured. "They're not gonna get it. We're gonna stop them."

David took Snow's hands in his. "Since our baby's not born, they're stuck."

Rose nodded. "And we have what we need. Time."

Grace sighed worriedly. "Just not very much of it."

Day - Hovel

Young Cora was giving birth to baby Zelena, screaming.

"One more," a woman told her. "Big one. Push!"

Woods

Young Cora took a basket out to the woods, placing it down, revealing it was Baby Zelena, wrapped in a gray blanket tied with a green ribbon. "Poor babe. Life is cruel and full of betrayal. That is my only lesson for you. Now I must give you away, to give me my best chance. As long as I have you, I can never be anything more than a miller's daughter."

Baby Zelena started to cry as Young Cora walked away. A green tornado appeared to take her away to Oz.

Night - Zelena and Faye's Farmhouse

Gold was putting dishes away. "Thank you."

"For what?" Zelena asked.

"For something I should have seen long ago," Gold told her. "It's never easy for a man to admit he's wrong, but I wronged you and hurt us both, and my three children."

Gold poured them more wine.

"Those mistakes can't haunt us, not anymore," Zelena told him. "Soon, history will be wiped clean."

They clinked glasses, drinking.

"Until then, a gentleman always makes amends for his failings," Gold told her, stroking her cheek, leaning closer to kiss her neck.

Zelena stood to continue to make out with him against the table, but when Gold reached for the dagger stashed in her boot, Zelena used her power to freeze him in an outline of green power. "Sorry, love, afraid not."

"Never on the first date, eh, dearie?" Gold asked.

Zelena stood angrily, taking the dagger from her boot. "You just wanted the knife. I hope you enjoyed the taste, because you just squandered your only chance to have your perfect family."

"You were never going to let Priscilla and Alcina live," Gold replied. "And in this new version of time you plan, all my grandchildren would be erased from time. My son gave his life so I and my family could stop you, and I can see only one way to honor that sacrifice and that's by killing you, and to punish you by killing your daughter as well."

Zelena glared at him. "Celebration's over. Back to your cage, doll."

Forced to obey the command, Gold left the room to head back to the cage.

Hatter House - Attic

Regina was cleaning up the mess up here.

Emma walked in. "Need a hand?"

"Go help the others clean downstairs, Emma," Regina told her.

Emma shook her head. "I came to help you. Dr. Whale just left. He cleared Alcina. Apparently, the human body has a surprising tolerance for ghost possession. May I?" Regina nodded. Emma started to help. "You want to talk about it?"

"What's there to talk about?" Regina asked. "You officially have a less damaging relationship with my mother than both of my sisters and I do."

"Well, at least we know your family and mine, our history is more complicated than we thought," Emma pointed out.

"I know how much Snow looked up to Eva, Emma, and I know she told you, Rose, Henry and Ella stories about her that made you all look up to her," Regina told her. "I'm sorry you had to learn she had such darkness in her past."

Emma shrugged. "That wasn't the woman you guys knew. It makes me wonder what happened that changed her. I suppose we'll never know."

Regina chuckled. "Well, Emma, we--we can never know our past completely. If we had, I probably wouldn't have spent so much time trying to kill Snow and David, or trying to get rid of you and Ella, or controlling Lisa and destroying Freya, Jefferson and Grace's family, or Tori, Saphira, Mathias and Belle's family."

Emma chuckled. "I think we've all wasted our last day being haunted by the past."

"Now we can focus on being haunted by our impending lack of a future, Emma," Regina told her.

"Zelena and Faye aren't going to win, not with all of us united against them," Emma told her.

Regina chuckled. They both managed small smiles.

Living Room

Freya, Jefferson, Grace and Lisa were cleaning up. Lisa was numb.

Jefferson looked at her knowingly. "Lisa." Lisa looked up. "Don't give up hope."

"Hope isn't easy when I know Zelena and Faye hold my heart, Jefferson," Lisa replied.

"Which you'll get back, stronger than ever," Freya told her. "Not only do you bring the most light into our lives, you're the most resilient after everything you've been through."

"That could be another one of their tricks," Lisa told them.

"Lisa, we've seen what life has thrown at you," Grace told her. "And you still fight and bring light into our lives every single day. Sooner or later, your heart will find its way to happiness."

Lisa chuckled lightly. "That doesn't feel possible, Grace."

"But it is," Freya told her. "We know you, and you feel things deeply. With or without it, you feel things with your whole soul."

Jefferson brushed back Lisa's hair. "Don't let anything hold you back."

Lisa managed a small smile. Grace wrapped her arm around Lisa. Lisa returned the embrace.

Freya knelt down to embrace them both. "Oh, my girls. My Grace, my Grace, my Grace, my Grace."

Jefferson embraced them. "My Grace, my Grace, my Grace, my Grace. My Lisa, my Lisa, my Lisa, my Lisa."

The girls smiled happily, laughing as the four embraced.

Merry Men's Camp

Derek was building a fire.

In a whirl of fiery orange/red smoke, Saphira appeared, lighting the fire with her power. "Hey, Derek. It's easier to do that with Dragon power than normally."

Derek smiled in amusement, standing, turning to face her. "Saphira. I'm sorry. Our men let you down. Lisa's heart was lost to Faye and Zelena on our watch, but I promise you, I will get it back. And I know that you're completely overwhelmed with Faye being your sister and everything going on with her now. But I'm telling you that I will be your friend and I'm gonna be there when you need me. No matter what happens, that won't change. We've got the strength in numbers when it comes to fighting."

Saphira chuckled lightly. "I know there's a place to turn when I really need someone. You, Derek. You've got my back. No matter what happens, I can count on that. I'm just having processing that my sister Faye is someone that wants to hurt me. But then again, I'm used to being hurt and deserted."

Derek took both of Saphira's hands. "I'll never be someone that hurts you, Saphira. I'll never be someone that deserts you. And we will still survive, together we can. We can do anything."

Saphira was so touched by what Derek said that she kissed him passionately out of impulse, pulling away in surprise. Derek was just as surprised, but both of them were happy, looking at each other for another moment before continuing to kiss deeply and heatedly, even more passionately.
