From 1.01 "This is the Part Where You Run", there was a shot of the school.

Tory: (voice over) "Previously on Worlds Colliding (Legacies)."

From 1.01 "This is the Part Where You Run", outside the school.

"Welcome to the Salvatore School," Lizzie greeted.

"I'm Josie," Josie introduced herself.

Lizzie nodded. "I'm Lizzie. Sisters."

From 1.01 "This is the Part Where You Run", in Lindsey/Ryan's office, Kaylin, Nicola, Lindsey, Tory, Luke and Ryan were explaining to Owen and Landon.

"You're a school for magic?" Owen asked.

"We're a school for the supernatural, which covers a lot of territory," Tory answered.

From 1.01 "This is the Part Where You Run", in the library, Nicola looked at Owen. "You know, two years ago, when you thanked me for saving your life as a kid, when we were with Elijah, I was going through a pretty dark phase."

"It was after Rosalita had destroyed our lives some more, and made us lose some people, and she had controlled the Huntress inside of Aunt Nikki," Madison explained. "And she thought that she couldn't control herself and thought of herself as a monster that didn't deserve forgiveness."

"And hearing you say that you thought of me like a hero... it changed everything for me back then," Nicola admitted. "I might have saved your life, but you also saved me from a very dark part of mine."

From 1.01 "This is the Part Where You Run", on the field, Rae's eyes were glowing with Hellfire, and veins of Hellfire were glowing beneath her skin as she struggled to contain it and calm down. Danny and Ariara led Rae away at a run to get her away from everyone to try and calm her down and so that when she lashed out, no one would get hurt.

Josie: (voice over from 1.01 This is the Part Where You Run) "Rae loses control a lot like that because of this immortal being inside of her, a psychic spirit locked away so she can't cause any harm."

From 1.01 "This is the Part Where You Run", in the school's kitchen, Rae had to release an anguished psychic scream that shattered all of the windows in the room and threw the room into chaos. All of the dishes shattered in the cupboards. She waved her arms, summoning a ball of Hellfire into her hands, holding her head in agony as she fought to control Rosalita inside her, her eyes glowing with Hellfire. She had to scream again, making the Hellfire soar out through the broken windows up into the sky to make sure that it couldn't hurt anyone. Hearing someone walking into the room behind her, Rae turned around, holding out her arm, shooting Hellfire from her hand toward Kaylin, Tory, Lyla and Nicola, stopping the Hellfire before it could kill them.

Rae: (voice over from 1.01 This is the Part Where You Run) "Maybe it's just better for everyone to stay away from me, Danny. I almost killed Mom, Aunt Nikki, Tory and Lyla. I don't want to hurt anyone."

From 1.01 "This is the Part Where You Run", in the school, Danny stood. "Rae, don't push us away. We can help you."

Rae looked at him skeptically. "Have you told Lindsey, Ryan and Emma that you've still been seeing visions of what Rosalita seared into your brain? Did you tell them, or your uncle and aunt Tory and Luke so that they could help you stop losing control of your shifting because of the visions and PTSD from what she did to you?" Danny didn't answer. "Danny, how can you help me when you won't even get help for yourself?"

From 1.01 "This is the Part Where You Run", in the hallway, Danny explained to Rae. "We're both getting the help we need. Do you still like me?"

Rae sighed, turning to face him. "Of course I do, Danny."

Danny turned to face her. "Then why, after two years, still nothing's happened?"

"Because I don't want anyone getting too close and getting hurt because of me," Rae answered. "Because of this literal dark force inside me. I"m just trying to protect you."

"Maybe I want to be the one doing the protecting this time," Danny told her.

Rae walked away without looking back. Danny watched her go, sighing heavily.

From 1.01 "This is the Part Where You Run", on the field, Rafael was watching the game with interest, amused and impressed by how well Emma was playing and taking out anyone in her path with ease. Emma saw him watching, turning around and leaving the field.

Rafael: (voice over from 1.01 This is the Part Where You Run) "I just wanted to thank you, since you know, you and your family saved me."

From 1.01 "This is the Part Where You Run", in the party at the old mill, Rafael and Emma were sitting by the fire.

Emma looked up. "You're welcome. I used to care too much. It was a problem that made it hurt more than I wanted to hurt. So I started to stop caring. I can be dangerous to people. It's better if I keep my distance."

"Better for who?" Rafael asked.

Emma sighed heavily. "It's just better for everyone to keep away, Rafael."

From 1.01 "This is the Part Where You Run", in Hope/Rae's dorm room, Hope was explaining. "Hybrid of three different creatures. Tory, Lyla and I are all tribrids, only I don't have the siphoning or super psychic part. Ariara, she's a different kind of tribrid. Golden eagle, lion and serpent."

From 1.01 "This is the Part Where You Run", in the party at the old mill, Ariara and Danny were talking.

Ariara looked down sadly. "It just sucks that I can't control my shifting without a bracelet now after what happened."

Danny looked at her sympathetically. "I can barely control my werewolf shifts. And if I get too angry, or anxious, things are about to go down." Ariara sighed, looking across the party, seeing Josie. Josie was drinking with her friends, seeing Ariara look at her. The two continued to look at each other for a moment. Penelope was walking along through the party, seeing the look between Ariara and Josie, starting to get an idea, smirking, walking away. Danny saw the look between Josie and Ariara as well, looking at Ariara in amusement. "And that look between you and Josie? That looked a lot more than just 'friends'."

Ariara shook her head. "Nah, Josie's too hung up on Penelope even though she won't admit it."

From 1.01 "This is the Part Where You Run", in the kitchen, taunting Ariara, Penelope smirked. "Are you drunk? What would your mommies think of that? Kacie and Mikayla Labonair-Lockwood probably wouldn't like it, Ariara. One thing I don't know is if you were actually ever a princess back in your so called kingdom before it was wiped out, when Mikayla and Kacie found the remains of the kingdom and saved you before taking you in and bringing you here." She was about to kiss the drunk Ariara. "I am an equal opportunity evil temptress."

Penelope started to kiss Ariara. Ariara, drunk, was stunned enough not to react at first, but broke the kiss off after a moment. Josie had walked in and saw this, looking betrayed. Penelope and Ariara both looked toward her. Josie looked devastated, running off. Ariara looked stunned and guilty, reeling from not just being drunk, but the drama before her. Penelope wiped her lip with her thumb, smirking, making it clear that messing with the bond between Josie and Ariara was her goal all along.

Ariara: (voice over from 1.01 This is the Part Where You Run) "Why would she..."

Josie: (voice over from 1.01 This is the Part Where You Run) "Because she wants me to know that she still has power over me and the bonds that I have with people, including you."

From 1.01 "This is the Part Where You Run", outside school, tired of how Penelope was making her feel, Josie held up her hand at waist level, whispering. Penelope's jacket sleeve caught on fire. She started screaming for help as she tried to snuff out the flames.

From 1.01 "This is the Part Where You Run", in the werewolf facility, Owen/Madison and Landon/Hope shared a kiss.

Luke: (voice over from 1.01 This is the Part Where You Run) "We're not sure if you belong here."

Owen: (voice over from 1.01 This is the Part Where You Run) "Then where do we belong?"

From 1.01 "This is the Part Where You Run", in the library, Luke walked in, seeing that Ryan found the display case with the knife Owen had been looking at the night before was smashed and the knife was gone. "What's wrong?"

"The alarm didn't trigger," Ryan answered. "A knife dated circa the 12th century."

From 1.01 "This is the Part Where You Run", in Josie/Lizzie's dorm room, Emma explained to Josie. "This stuff with Owen and Landon is really hurting Nikki, Hope and Madison, and I'm gonna pay them back and fix it. I know how to track them, but it involves using dark magic."

Later, Josie and Emma were doing the spell.

Josie: (voice over from 1.01 This is the Part Where You Run) "Where did you find this spell?"

During the spell, they could see flashes of Landon and Owen on the bus.

Emma: (voice over from 1.01 This is the Part Where You Run) "Sometimes they just pop into my head. I don't know how. I've been writing them down."

From 1.01 "This is the Part Where You Run", on route 29, Matt met up with Tory and Luke. "Local PD thinks it was a chemical spill."

"What's the actual story?" Tory asked.

On the bus, Every person on the bus, from the driver to those seated in the very back, were all burned so badly they resembled mummified corpses. The only ones not present were Landon and Owen, who were nowhere to be found. Tory and Luke were in total shock.

Matt: (voice over from 1.01 This is the Part Where You Run) "I'll leave that to you to figure out."

Day One

Morning - Salvatore Boarding School

There was a long opening shot of the outside of the school, showing everything outside, including people setting up the field for an oncoming game, while in front of the school outside the gate, Connor and his friends were vandalizing a Salvatore Stallions black van.

-

Emma/Ariara's Dorm Room

Emma was alone in the dorm room, looking outside to see the jocks vandalizing the black van.

Emma: (voice over) "'No legacy is so rich as honesty'. When Shakespeare wrote that, he obviously didn't know what I know about teenage boys. I mean, there are guys with integrity, who lead with truth. Like my dad and Uncle Luke. I've just never met a teenage boy like that besides Danny, and he doesn't count because he's my twin."

-

Lindsey/Ryan's Office

Lindsey, Ryan, Luke, Tory, Emma and Danny were talking as a family.

"I see you've decided to double down on your nihilism this morning," Lindsey told them.

"You're the ones that taught us to be rich with honesty," Danny told them.

"Start from the beginning," Ryan told them.

"About how I lied to you about the visions being back and how I was having more trouble controlling my shifts?" Danny asked.

"Yeah, that, for one thing," Luke answered.

Danny sighed. "Don't worry, Uncle Luke. Lyla read my mind and told you so that we could have Thompson family meetings like this one and talk it all out and make it all better."

Tory looked at Emma. "And now you can tell us about your decision to perform black magic on school grounds last night."

Emma looked down, shrugging. "Maybe we could table this family meeting until we catch the guys I was trying to find by using black magic. Because the longer that Owen Church and Landon Kirby are out there, the greater the chance they have to tell people about this school and the kind of people we have hidden behind the gates."

"You know there's a beacon that alerts us when someone's using," Lindsey told her in concern. "You knew you would be caught. Emma, we have been down this road before, making sure that you were weened off of dark magic because of what Rosalita did to you. And now you're using black magic and Danny's visions are back."

"That's not a coincidence," Ryan told them. "Emma, Danny, you can't keep these things hidden. You have to tell us so that we can help you."

"And waste time not looking for Owen and Landon?" Emma asked. "I found them, but lost the trail and now I'm being interventioned by my family." She nodded sarcastically. "But go ahead, take your time. Nothing at stake here."

Lindsey, Tory, Luke and Ryan exchanged a concerned look.

"We can talk about this later after we find them," Luke told them. "Emma's right. We have to find Owen and Landon."

"Thank you, Uncle Luke," Emma told him.

Lindsey pointed at Emma. "Luke may be right. But don't think that we're done talking about this." She looked at Danny. "Either of you."

"Did anyone help you with the spell?" Tory asked.

Emma flashed back to Josie helping her with the spell but lied. "No. Can we go now?"

Danny and Emma stood.

Luke stood to stop them. "Emma. Danny. This isn't your fight."

"Landon and Owen hurt Madison, Hope and Nikki, Uncle Luke," Danny told him. "And you can tell us that we're sublimating a lifetime of survivor's remorse or whatever, but we're gonna help you find them."

Ryan stood. "And what happens when you do?"

Emma shook her head, smirking, walking out of the room. Danny followed. Lindsey, Tory, Luke and Ryan were left looking at each other worriedly.

"This can't be happening again," Lindsey told them.

"Lindsey, it's not gonna get as bad as before," Ryan told her. "We've helped Danny get control back and stopped the visions before. We've helped Emma stop dark magic before."

"But even though Rosalita's still locked inside Rae, she can still reach out and mess with Emma and Danny," Tory pointed out. "And I guarantee that's why this is happening again."

"It's okay," Luke told them. "It's fine. We stopped it before. We can stop it again."

Lindsey just looked more worried. "Will we?"

-

Hallway

Emma walked down the hallway.

Emma: (voice over) "It should be said that Shakespeare wasn't completely clueless."

-

Emma/Ariara's Dorm Room

Emma walked in, closing the door behind her, reaching under her bed to grab a box, pulling it out, pulling out many papers of which she had written the spells that would pop into her head like she told Josie the chapter before, finding the one she was looking for.

Emma: (voice over) "He had plenty of advice about how to handle betrayal or those who hurt the ones you love. My personal favorite. 'Think, therefore, on revenge and cease to weep'."

-

Worlds Colliding (Legacies)

-

Salvatore Boarding School - Outside

Lyla, Kaylin, Nicola, Rae, Hope, Madison and Ariara were talking.

"Tory, Luke, Lindsey and Ryan are giving Emma and Danny an intervention, huh?" Ariara asked.

"Yeah," Kaylin answered. "They lied about going through things that Rosalita put them through before. Emma's showing signs of using black magic again, and Danny's seeing the visions again, and he might be losing control if we don't stop it soon."

"Aren't Kacie and Aunt Mikayla supposed to be coming home soon?" Madison asked.

"Yeah," Lyla answered. "Aunt Kacie and Aunt Mikayla told me and Ariara that after they do some more recruitment, that they could be here sometime soon."

"Well, they better," Nicola told them. "With the amount of recruiting that Kacie, Mikayla and Eliza have been doing, this school is overflowing and we need to open the Lockwood Mansion up for some more living space for the kids. With a little Labonair blessing."

"Or we could add another extension to this place, but that could take a while," Rae told them.

"Are we seriously just talking about this right now?" Hope asked.

Kaylin sighed. "Hope, what happened with Landon and Owen wasn't your fault, or Madison's."

"It's absolutely our fault, Kaylin," Madison told her. "Landon and Owen were inside the walls of this school because of us. Owen had access to the knife he stole because of me. And now we're all at risk of exposure."

"Madison, Hope, I believed in Landon and Owen, too," Nicola told them. "After everything, no one's been able to pull one over me like that, so I get how you feel."

"Of course you would, Aunt Nikki," Hope told her. "Owen idolized you and called you his hero after you saved his life, and after Owen and Landon ended up here, you started to get close to them, too. And I know that Owen saved you from a dark place after you met him two years ago, and that this could hurt you just as bad as it hurts us."

Ariara sighed. "Hope. Madison. I don't believe that this is your fault anymore than I think it's Lindsey, Ryan, Emma and Danny's for bringing Landon and Owen here when they brought Rafael after the Davis-Thompson mission. Or anything else. And I don't blame Nikki for getting close to them either."

"You liked them," Lyla told them in a sweet voice.

"Yeah, Lyla, they liked them," Rae answered. "I just feel bad because if Tory hadn't been helping Mom, Aunt Nikki, Hope, Lindsey, Emma, Danny, Madison, Ariara and you help me deal with a Rosalita-episode, then she could have mind controlled Landon and Owen to do what Luke tried to compel them to do and then we wouldn't be in this mess."

Ariara scoffed. "Rae, you definitely don't get to blame yourself for this."

"Ariara's right, Rae," Kaylin told her. "Just because we were helping you doesn't mean anything."

"And of course we were helping you after everything that happened," Madison told her.

Rae sighed. "Fine. Whatever."

"So what do we do?" Hope asked.

"Tory, Kaylin and I are going to go look for Landon and Owen during this year's game," Nicola answered. "Lindsey, Ryan, Luke and Alaric are going to stay here to look over the game. Danny and Ariara are playing in the game, aren't they?"

"Yeah, but we don't have to with all of this stuff going on," Ariara answered.

"No, Ariara, you're gonna play in the game," Kaylin told her. "Remember that you promised Kacie and Mikayla to get out there more."

"But why?" Ariara asked. "Alaric is the coach of the team and he always makes us lose, Kaylin. Even though you, Nikki, Tory, Luke, Lindsey and Ryan all say that it would be okay if we played our best but without our powers."

"What about Rae, Hope, Madison and Emma?" Lyla asked. "They don't play in the game, and I can't play in the game because I'm not old enough."

"Well, you're not going to look for Owen and Landon, Lyla," Hope told her. "But Emma, Rae, Madison and I can go with Kaylin, Aunt Nikki and Tory."

"Yeah, we can," Rae agreed.

Lyla pouted. "I wanna be able to do something."

Madison chuckled, ruffling Lyla's hair. "Maybe next time, Lyla."

-

Inside - Hallway

Josie and Lizzie were walking together, wearing jerseys for the oncoming game.

"Let's hit the dining hall and carb load," Lizzie suggested. "It's game day."

"I'm not hungry," Josie told her. Lizzie gave her a look. "What?"

"What?" Lizzie asked. "Well, uh, funny thing, actually, Josette. This morning, as I was desperately trying to make this trash bag of a jersey look cute, I suddenly had the urge to purge. So I fled to the bowl, and lo and behold, I heaved up a gallon of black goo. So, seeing as I haven't been dabbling in any illicit black magic recently, I can only imagine it was a twin sympathy hurl. And here you are, denying the day's most important meal. So fess up. What did you do?"

They walked past where Penelope was waiting for them behind a wall with a shorter hair cut.

"Maybe you're pregnant, Lizzie," Penelope mocked. "Oh, or maybe it's just how that jersey fits."

"Go away, evil one," Josie told her.

"Already gone," Penelope replied. "Hot tip. Next time you burn your ex's hair off, make sure she can't rock a lob."

Penelope flipped her hair to prove her point.

Ariara and MG walked by.

Penelope looked at Josie and Ariara smugly, smirking, winking, walking away. Ariara and Josie both watched her go with an annoyed glare, before exchanging a look.

"Morning," MG greeted. "Big game today."

"Hey, MG," Lizzie told him, before giving Ariara a cold look. "Bounce, Ariara. If you hurry, you can catch up with the Blair Bitch and tongue chum her again." Ariara rolled her eyes, walking away. MG looked confused, following. Lizzie realized what Penelope had said about her, turning to Josie. "Did your evil ex just fat shame me?"

Alaric and Madison walked up to Josie and Lizzie.

"Lizzie, Josie, hey," Madison told them. "So, uh, listen..."

"Don't do it, Madison," Josie told her. "Don't say whatever it is you're about to say, because you have sad face, and wherever sad face goes, adoptive step cousin disappointment always follows."

"I'm not gonna be able to make it to the game," Madison explained. "And you're not the only adoptive step cousins I have you know, but you are from Eliza's side. Rae is my adoptive step cousin from Kol's side."

"Don't change the subject," Lizzie told her.

"We hate it as much as you do, but we have to find Owen Church and Landon Kirby," Alaric told them.

"Okay, so let's cancel," Josie told them. "Dad, you're the coach, and you always make us lose the game. I know that we can't use magic on the field, but we can at least try to win, right? I mean, it's a joke anyways. We can't use our powers, so we suck."

"Exactly," Alaric told them. "Which is a normal school for troubled rich kids thing to do. This annual event lets the locals see you for what they think you are. And keeps them from asking too many questions."

"But they mock us," Josie told him.

"Because they're insecure, small town kids with small minds," Alaric told them. "So just let it be. Look, girls, with Landon Kirby and Owen Church running around, knowing all of our secrets, we have to protect our profile now more than ever. Can I count on you guys to do that?"

"Even though Kaylin, Nicola, Lindsey, Ryan, Tory and Luke always say that it's okay if we try to win the normal way without our powers?" Josie asked.

Madison smirked in amusement. "Josie and Lizzie's got a point, Ric."

Alaric gave her a look. "Madison. Not helping." He looked at his daughters to give them a look. "Lizzie. Josie. They might run the school, but I run that team, and what I say for that team goes. Besides, Kaylin, Nicola, Tory, Rae, Emma, Hope and Madison are gonna be looking for Landon and Owen. Lindsey, Ryan and Luke are gonna stay with Danny, Lyla and Ariara."

Lizzie sighed, annoyed. "Fine."

"I love you guys," Madison told them. "We'll be back as soon as we can."

Madison turned around, walking away.

-

Outside

Danny jogged up to Rae in his jersey. "Hey, Rae."

Rae turned to face him, pressing her lips together. "Danny. Busting out the jersey again, I see. You sure that you can still play in the game today with your visions and control lapses?"

"Yeah, that's why Mom and Dad and Uncle Luke are staying here instead of going with you, Kaylin, Nikki, Aunt Tory, Hope and Madison," Danny answered. "So that they can help me control it. And Ariara and I've been bonding over how neither of us can really control our shifts, so we can probably help each other, too."

Rae nodded in understanding. "Okay. Uh, good luck on the game, then. You know, if Ric doesn't make you guys lose again. Which is pretty stupid considering that Mom, Aunt Nikki, Lindsey, Tory, Luke and Ryan are okay with you guys playing fair without using magic, but trying to win at the same time the fair way."

Danny sighed slightly in annoyance. "Yeah, I know, but Ric's the coach, so he gets to call the plays, so..."

Rae chuckled. "Yeah." There was a moment while they looked at each other, clearly nervous after their talks in the previous chapter. "I should go."

"Yeah," Danny agreed. "Be careful out there. Good luck with control and all that. And can you keep an eye on Emma for me? I mean, she's been having issues with getting sucked back into black magic."

"Yeah, of course," Rae answered. "Emma will be okay, Danny. Bye."

Danny nodded in agreement. "Thanks, Rae. Bye."

After another look, they both went their different ways.

By the van that the group of girls would be driving to find Owen and Landon, Emma walked closer to see someone underneath the van and working on it mechanically. "Hello?"

Rafael rolled himself out to see that it was Emma, revealing he was only wearing a thin white tank muscle shirt, jeans and boots. "Hey."

Rafael rolled himself back under the van.

"What are you doing?" Emma asked.

"Adjusting the sway bar," Rafael answered.

"Was it broken?" Emma asked.

Rafael disabled the car, rolling out from underneath the van, standing. "It is now. You're going after Owen and Landon. If you want this car to work, I'm going with you."

"You should stay out of it," Emma told him. "They're liars and thieves."

"They took a stupid knife," Rafael told her.

"Nothing in this school is a stupid anything," Emma replied.

Rafael sighed. "Look, they're my best friends. And you? You seem vengeful because they hurt your best friends."

"Well, people shouldn't hurt the people that I care about," Emma told him. "Let me show you something." She stepped closer, reaching up to his head. Rafael gripped her wrists cautiously at first, but let her put her hands on either side of his face. "Close your eyes."

They both closed their eyes as Emma whispered a spell, showing Rafael the visions that she and Josie had seen of Landon and Owen on the bus, then the bodies afterward.

Rafael stepped back in shock. "What the hell was that?"

"Your best friends did that to a bus full of people on Route 29 last night, and me and the others are the only ones who knows how to find them, so give me the engine thingy," Emma told him.

"No," Rafael disagreed.

Emma gave him a look. "I have actual magic powers."

"And I have a long history of anger issues," Rafael replied.

"Yeah, so do I," Emma countered. "Magic plus wolf anger issues, plus a tendency for a dark personality. Who do you think will win?"

Kaylin, Nicola, Tory, Rae, Hope and Madison walked closer.

"Emma, that's enough," Tory told her.

"He can come," Kaylin told them.

Hope looked at her in surprise. "What? Kaylin--"

"He knows Owen and Landon," Kaylin pointed out. "He'll be an asset."

"And we need all the help we can get," Nicola added. She looked at Rafael. "So fix the van and hop in."

Rafael gave Emma a smug look. Emma smirked sarcastically, rolling her eyes, turning away.

"And put a shirt on," Kaylin told him. "Even if you're a werewolf, you're not freaking Jacob. Twilight sucked anyway."

The girls smirked, getting into the van. Rafael looked stunned, looking down at his tank top.

-

Inside - Hallways

Josie and Lizzie were walking together.

"Madison loves her other family more than us," Lizzie told her.

"You're being melodramatic, okay?" Josie asked. "Madison went through a lot more stuff with her other family. It made them closer, but doesn't mean she doesn't love us. She's missing one game."

"She missed a lot more when she went to New Orleans to be with them and almost died," Lizzie replied. "The Mikaelsons, Kaylin, Nicola and Rae Salvatore-Mikaelson, and Ariara Nata are her favorite. Madison even likes Lindsey, Tory, Luke, Ryan, Lyla, Emma and Danny more than us. Davis-Thompsons. And Kacie and Mikayla Labonair-Lockwood. She's not just a Mikaelson, she's a Fell, too, and a Forbes, thanks to Aunt Eliza, and yet... We may be losing Madison, but we're not gonna let Dad down today. This game is an opportunity. We can show him how seriously we are taking this by making sure that our secret stays protected out there on the field. Today, we will lose even more epically than we normally do."

Josie nodded in approval. "Win by losing. That's the spirit."

"There's someone we need to recruit to our island of misfit toys," Lizzie told her. "Tall, hot and handsome."

"Rafael?" Josie asked.

Lizzie nodded. "I am totally thinking tight end."

Penelope was sitting in a chair as they walked past, reading a book. "I just saw him. Yeah, sorry. Raf's not gonna be at the game. He hopped the Kaylin, Nicola, Tory, Rae, Emma and Hope train out of town. Just like Madison."

Penelope smirked mockingly, licking her finger to turn the page of her book. Lizzie and Josie exchanged an annoyed look, walking away.

-

Woods

The van pulled over on the road leading to the woods. The girls and Rafael got out of the car, walking into the woods.

"I don't know why they're still out here," Hope admitted. "They have a whole day's lead on us. They could be anywhere."

"Maybe 'cause they don't have a reason to run," Rafael told them.

Rae scoffed. "Logic that would be perfectly believable if they hadn't, you know, ran."

Rae suddenly had to stop walking, holding her head in pain.

"Rae?" Hope asked in concern.

They stopped for a moment to check on her.

"Rae, are you okay?" Kaylin asked worriedly.

Rae slowly nodded.

"You're not gonna have another Rosalita-episode right now, are you?" Nicola asked.

"No," Rae answered. "I think I'm good right now."

"Who's Rosalita?" Rafael asked.

"She's the spirit that Lizzie, Josie and I told you is locked inside Rae," Madison answered.

"She's the one that killed my mother and destroyed all our lives and so much more," Hope explained.

Rafael frowned, shocked and concerned. "Why would Rosalita do that?"

Tory shrugged. "Some people just want to watch the world burn. In Rosalita's case, she wanted to be the one to ignite it with Hellfire."

Rafael, stunned, didn't know how to react to that. The group continued walking for a moment.

Nicola stopped walking. "Wait. Shh. You hear that? Someone's here."

Nicola led the way toward a woman that was in hiding, not burned but covered in soot, in a very bad mess, who never spoke and didn't seem to understand where she was or what was going on.

"I--it's okay," Tory told her. "We're not gonna hurt you. Were you on the bus? Can you tell us what happened?"

"Is she a survivor?" Hope asked.

"Uh, smells like it," Tory admitted. "She reeks of smoke."

"I think she's in shock," Kaylin told them. "Look, we need to get her out of here. Uh, why don't you kids go ahead?"

Nicola gave the teens a look. "Don't engage. We don't know how dangerous Owen and Landon are."

"They're not dangerous," Rafael argued.

"I said don't engage," Nicola repeated.

Madison looked at Rae, Hope, Emma and Rafael. "Come on."

The five teens started to walk away.

Tory looked at the woman. "We can get you some help. If you want to, follow us."

Kaylin nodded. "Come on."

-

Salvatore Boarding School - Field

The game was about to go down.

Alaric was the coach. "All right, guys. Let's have a good, clean, entirely uneventful game."

"Like we do every year when we beat your asses down," Connor told them mockingly.

"Not exactly the spirit, Connor.," Alaric told him.

Connor nodded sarcastically. "Oh."

Alaric sighed. "All right, call it in the air."

The referee tossed the coin into the air.

"Tails never fails," a girl named Dana said.

The coin fell to the ground, tails up.

Alaric looked at the Mystic Falls Timberwolves. "Guess not. Your ball. Shake hands and let's do this."

The Timberwolves and the Stallions all shook hands even though there was an intense rivalry. Connor bumped into a vampire named Kaleb, walking away. Kaleb watched him go with a glare.

Danny pulled Kaleb back from going after Connor. "Kaleb. Come on, suck it up. We have to go through this every year, okay?"

"I was being recruited by D1 schools before I got here, all right?" Kaleb asked. "I don't lose."

"Hey, I don't like it either," Danny told him. "But Ric's the coach."

"And your parents are the headmasters," Kaleb replied. "Come on, Danny, even Lindsey and Ryan, and your aunt and uncle Tory and Luke are okay with us playing fair. So are those Kaylin and Nicola chicks."

Ariara offered Dana a hand. "Good luck out there."

"Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity," Dana told her.

Ariara scoffed, crossing her arms. "I'm pretty sure I've seen that on a poster at the dentist's."

"Oh, my dad's a dentist, but he still made time to be here with my mom," Dana told her. "I guess I'm lucky that way, huh?  I hear you have two moms but they're not even in town. Adoptive moms can't always be there for the orphans they take in, can they?"

Dana winked, waving, walking away. Ariara looked off in annoyance, sighing heavily, glaring, turning around.

Alaric went to sit next to Lindsey, Luke and Ryan.

"I never understand why you're always so determined to hinder these kids and force them to lose," Luke admitted. "They don't have to use magic to win, Ric."

"Luke, remember that I'm the coach," Alaric told him. "Even if Lindsey and Ryan run the school, this place is possible because of Kaylin and Nicola and therefore named after them, and because you and Tory help, along with Caroline, Eliza, Mikayla and Kacie."

"That has nothing to do with it," Lindsey told him. "We made this place to be a safe space for these kids, but to encourage them to be themselves and feel good about it."

Ryan sighed, shaking his head. "Now, obviously they can't use their magic on the field, but they shouldn't have to purposefully lose."

Lyla ran up to them to sit next to Luke. "Hey, Dad." She waved to her aunt and uncle. "Hey, Uncle Ryan. Aunt Lindsey."

They smiled in return. "Hi, Lyla."

"I cannot wait until I get old enough to be on the team," Lyla admitted. "Just wish that by then, we won't have to lose every game."

Luke and Ryan looked at Alaric. "See?"

"Told you," Lindsey told him. "From the mouth of babes, I'd say Lyla has a point, and you got to admit that so do me, Luke and Ryan. And Tory, Kaylin and Nicola would tell you the same thing if they were here."

Alaric sighed. "Do we have to go through this every year?"

Lyla nodded cutely. "Yep."

Luke chuckled. "Yeah. You're lucky that Lindsey and Ryan are even here. Or me, for that matter, when Kaylin, Nicola, Tory, Rae, Hope, Emma and Madison are out there with Rafael, looking for Landon and Owen, while we're stuck here watching Danny, Ariara, Josie, Lizzie, MG, Kaleb and so on play."

"Why are you here if you wanted to help Mom, Kaylin, Nikki, Rae, Hope, Emma and Madison with Rafael, Landon and Owen?" Lyla asked.

"Because we have to make sure that Danny and Ariara don't have any episodes of losing control of shifting on the field," Lindsey answered.

"Ariara shouldn't lose control as long as she's wearing her bracelet, but that could get knocked off in the game," Ryan explained. "But as a precaution, Lindsey spelled it so it couldn't fall off during the game. And Luke, Lindsey and I have to keep an eye on Danny."

"What about Emma?" Lyla asked.

"Kaylin, Nicola and Tory are gonna keep an eye on Emma," Lindsey answered. "Danny even asked Rae to keep an eye on her. Plus, Rafael, Hope and Madison are with them while they look for Owen and Landon."

"We wish we could've gone with to help make sure that Emma didn't do any black magic, 'cause she can still sneak it past Kaylin, Nicola, Tory, Rae, Hope and Madison," Ryan admitted. "And she's clearly got something to prove against Rafael, Landon and Owen."

"Lindsey, Ryan, don't worry," Luke told them. "So you had to make a tough call on who to be with. Danny and Ariara on the field to make sure that they don't lose control of shifting, or Emma with her dark magic, but she's with Kaylin, Nicola, Tory, Rae, Hope, Madison and Rafael, so she should be good. All they're doing is trying to find Owen and Landon. I don't think anything else is going to happen."

"Don't jinx it, Dad," Lyla told him. "Every time someone jinxes it, something bad happens."

Luke smirked, scooping Lyla up in his arms, sitting her down on his lap, embracing her. "Well, you got a point there, Lyla."

Lindsey and Ryan smiled. "Aw."

Hope, Rae, Emma, Madison and Rafael were walking together.

"What exactly happened on that bus?" Rafael asked.

Hope shook her head. "No one knows. It's like something incinerated it from the inside."

"It almost looked like Hellfire, according to Aunt Tory and Uncle Luke," Emma explained. "Almost."

"Look, whatever Landon and Owen did, I know there's a good explanation," Rafael told them. "They're the most loyal friends that I've ever had. They were there for me on the worst day of my life. After my girlfriend died, they were the only things that kept me going. So let me get that knife back or you and then we all can hear them out, okay?"

"Appreciate the passion, but maybe you should exert some of it making new friends," Rae told him.

"So I can be as popular and well liked as you and your little group?" Rafael asked. They turned to face him. "Yeah, I've been at the school for two days and I've already heard all about Hope Mikaelson, Rae Salvatore-Mikaelson, Madison Fell-Mikaelson, Emma and Danny Davis-Thompson, and Ariara Nata, and their sunny disposition. Little Lyla Thompson has more friends than you guys do. I'll get you the stupid, not-stupid knife, and the answers you want, I promise."

"And why should we believe you?" Madison asked.

"Because I don't lie," Rafael told them.

Hope chuckled, looking away, nodding sarcastically, looking back at Rafael. "Everybody lies."

Rae was focusing. "They're in the root cellar. I can hear Owen and Landon's thoughts from here."

Emma looked at Rafael. "You have three minutes to do this your way."

"But Kaylin, Nicola and Tory said don't engage," Rafael told them.

Emma rolled her eyes. "Two minutes 59, two minutes 58."

Rafael ran off to the cellar.

Root Cellar

Rafael opened the door, running down the stairs, seeing Landon and Owen in hiding.

Owen stood in relief. "Raf? Holy hell."

Landon stood as the three brothers ran to embrace each other.

"How did you find us?" Landon asked.

"There's, um, a--a lot of crazy witchy people looking for you two," Rafael told them. "There's a bus full of burned up people."

"That wasn't us," Owen told him.

The girls walked in.

"Then who was it?" Madison asked.

Rafael turned to face them in surprise. "You said three minutes."

Hope shrugged. "Like I said, people lie."

Emma held her hand toward Owen and Landon. "Corporis impetu."

Due to Emma's spell, Owen and Landon were magically thrown back against the wall, pinned.

"Emma," Rae warned.

Madison looked at Owen and Landon. "Where's the knife?"

"We don't have it," Landon told them. "We must've lost it when we ran."

"After you burned the bus?" Hope asked.

"That wasn't us, I swear," Owen told them. "We barely got out alive."

"Emma, come on, let them go," Rafael told her.

Emma ignored him. "Rae?"

Rae knew what she meant, looking at Owen and Landon, reading their minds. "They're telling the truth about the bus. They didn't burn anyone inside it."

Owen sighed in relief, closing his eyes. "Thank you, Rae."

"Then who the hell was it?" Madison asked.

"There was this girl," Landon explained.

They looked at him in confusion.

Kaylin, Nicola and Tory were walking with the woman they found. Kaylin took out her phone to make a call. The woman snatched her phone away, looking at it in shock and awe, wondering what it was. They turned to face her.

"Can I have my phone back, please?" Kaylin asked in annoyance. The woman didn't answer. "Hello, crazy pants. Cuckoo!"

Tory gave her a look. "Kaylin." She looked at the woman. "Do you need to make a phone call?"

The woman put the phone in her pockets.

"Wait, that's mine," Kaylin told her, very annoyed.

The woman snatched Nicola's watch off her wrist.

"Hey," Nicola told her. "That's my watch. Can I have it back?"

The woman turned around, walking away.

"Hey, uh, wait," Tory told her. "Miss..."

Kaylin rushed up to grab the woman's arm to stop her from leaving. The woman had supernatural strength, prying her arm away from Kaylin, turning to face the three women, her eyes glowing orange, hurling fire from her mouth at Kaylin, Nicola and Tory, making them rush and roll out of the way. When they turned back, the woman had disappeared.

Nicola sighed. "Ah, hell."

(Song:) Let Me Live / Let Me Die - Des Rocs

The game was still underway. The Stallions were standing together.

"Remember the game plan, Kaleb," Lizzie told him.

"Girl, I used to eat townie scrubs like this for lunch," Kaleb complained. "That's before I was a vampire."

The referee blew the whistle. Kaleb ran to kick the ball high across the field. Connor ran to catch the ball, running past everyone, seeing that Dana was open, throwing the ball to her. Dana caught it, running for their goal. When Dana got to MG, he had to act like he was diving for the ball while really diving out of the way so that they could listen to Alaric's rule about losing. Dana did a cheer, running for the endzone.

Lizzie looked back at MG on the ground. MG smiled, giving Lizzie a thumbs up. Lizzie rolled her eyes, shaking her head, walking away.

Connor rammed into Kaleb from behind, making him fall.

When Dana scored the touchdown, the ref blew his whistle and held his arms up.

Kaleb growled in frustration, punching the ground before standing up.

(Song Ends)

"Nice moves, Dana," Lizzie told her.

Dana walked closer with the football. "I know I'm supposed to do this in the end zone, but..."

Dana threw the football down at Lizzie's feet, making it bounce back at Lizzie and hit her, laughing, walking away.

Josie jogged over to Lizzie. "That went well, all things considered."

Lizzie was very annoyed. "One word. One word and I could burn her perky little boobs to ash."

"Hey, but we're not gonna do that today," Josie told her. "Today of all days, right?"

Lizzie gave in, nodding.

Ariara walked up to the bench to get some water from the cooler.

Penelope put a hand on the cooler to stop Ariara to get her attention. "Hey, Ariara."

"Didn't you get the hint the other night?" Ariara asked. "I want nothing to do with you, and you ruined things between me and Josie, which is what I know you wanted to do."

"True," Penelope agreed. "For the record, I think it's obvious that you're crushing on Josie as much as MG is crushing on Lizzie, to everyone but Lizzie and Josie. You're just not as desperate to get with Josie as MG is to get with Lizzie."

Ariara pushed Penelope's hand out of the way so she could get her water, taking a drink. "What the hell do you want?"

"Well, like you said, to screw things up between you and Josie," Penelope answered. "I know you like her, Ariara Nata, and she's clearly got deep hidden feelings for you, but at least now, she'll never go for you. She'll never choose you, and I think that deep down, you know that, and that's why you like crushing on her, because that way, at least you know you won't have to be with anybody, because just like the rest of your adoptive little family, you've turned into an antisocial loser and you don't want that to really change. Am I anywhere close to being right, princess?"

Ariara glared at Penelope. "Go to hell."

Ariara walked away.

MG jogged up to her. "Ariara, hey. I heard you talking to Penelope. You okay?"

"Not now, Milton," Ariara told him.

"I don't buy what she says, you know," MG told her. "I think that you have just as much of a chance with Josie as I'd like to believe that I have with Lizzie. Not saying that chance is very high for me, but yours might be higher, since you are literally royalty, Nata bloodlines and all."

"The only way either of our chances are gonna get higher is if we both do something impressive to get their attentions, and I'm not gonna do that today," Ariara told him. "But go ahead, give it your best shot." She spoke sarcastically. "It's not like they're not counting on losing today to make their dad proud of them."

MG considered what she said seriously, not noticing the sarcasm at the end. "Right. Yeah."

Alaric clapped. "All right, way to go, Stallions. Let's keep it up, let's keep it up."

Lindsey, Ryan, Luke and Lyla were still sitting in the bleachers, front row, keeping an eye on Danny and Ariara in the game.

Luke's phone went off. He took it out, answering. "Hey, Tory."

Lyla smiled, leaning closer to speak into the phone. "Hi, Mom!"

Tory was still in the woods with Kaylin and Nicola, chuckling. "Hey, Lyla. Luke, are you two, Lindsey and Ryan somewhere where we can talk? It's important."

Nicola sighed. "And we might need Ric's expertise."

Lindsey, Ryan, Luke and Lyla stood, walking over to Alaric to get him.

Danny ran over to see what was going on. "Mom? Dad? Where're Uncle Luke, Lyla and Ric going? Did something happen with Emma, Kaylin, Nikki, Hope, Rae, Madison, Aunt Tory and Rafael? Did they find Owen and Landon?"

"Yes," Ryan answered. "But they ran into a something along the way and we got to go help Ric dig through research to find out what's up."

"Danny, do you think you and Ariara will be okay on the field while we're gone?" Lindsey asked.

"Yeah," Danny answered. "We got it. Go ahead. I'll tell Ariara."

Ryan patted him on the shoulder. "Good. We're proud of you, Danny, and Ariara. We'll be back soon."

"Until we get back, you call the plays, all right?" Lindsey asked.

"Yeah," Danny answered.

"Good luck," Ryan told him.

Lindsey and Ryan walked away. Danny turned to the field.

Lindsey, Ryan, Luke, Lyla and Alaric walked in, talking to Kaylin, Nicola and Tory over speakerphone.

"What's a pyromancer?" Lyla asked.

"It's a firebreathing witch," Luke answered. "Are you guys sure that's what this chick was?"

"She's a woman who smelled like she'd been dipped in an ashtray," Kaylin told them with honest sarcasm. "She breathed fire instead of words. What else could she be?"

"There are only a couple dozen left, most in East Asia," Alaric explained.

"Well, now there's one wondering around the woods off Route 29," Nicola told them in a sarcastic tone.

Lindsey sighed. "All right, we're on it. Stay on the line while we figure it out."

"Yeah, and how to restrain her without getting barbecued, in case Tory or Rae don't get the chance to mind control her," Ryan added.

"All right," Tory agreed. "How are the kids doing at the game? Danny and Ariara? They okay?"

"Oh, they're killing it," Luke answered, chuckling. "By not killing it and not turning. They're under control."

"But everyone's really annoyed that Ric still won't let them play fair and making them lose," Lyla told them, pouting.

Kaylin smirked. "Yeah, I would be too, Lyla. We told you before, Ric--"

"Yeah, I know," Alaric told her. "Lyla, Lindsey, Ryan and Luke already gave me the yearly lecture, Kaylin. So save it. I'll tell you what I told them. I'm the coach, I make the rules for the team."

Lyla pouted. "Stupid rules."

"Lyla's got a point, Ric," Nicola told him.

"Let us know when you've got more to go on," Tory told them. "We've gotta find Hope, Rae, Emma, Madison, Rafael, Owen and Landon."

"And don't be taking forever, either," Kaylin told him.

"Relax, Kaylin," Ryan told her. "We've got it."

"Don't worry, we'll call back soon," Lindsey told them.

"Lyla, if you wanna go back to the game, you can," Luke told her.

"Okay, thanks, Dad," Lyla agreed, taking off out of the library at a run.

The adults chuckled at that.

The Stallions were in a huddle.

"All right, I just want to take a minute to let you all know how proud I am," Lizzie told them. "You're all doing a great job."

Kaleb gave them an incredulous look. "We're getting our asses kicked."

"Which means we're doing a great job," Josie told them.

"What's the play?" MG asked.

"Same as always," Lizzie answered. "Run around, make it look like you know what you're doing, then fail. On three."

They all clapped, splitting up from the huddle to go to the play. Danny, Ariara and Kaleb were the most annoyed with having to lose.

(Song:) Go Fast - Endway

The ref blew his whistle.

Danny was ready for the ball as quarterback. "White 80. White 80. Set, hut."

Josie snapped the ball back toward Danny. Danny caught it.

Dana was counting. "One Mississippi, two Mississippi, three Mississippi."

"Danny, pass it, I'm open," Ariara told him, running down the field.

Danny was preparing to throw the ball to Ariara as Dana continued counting, letting Dana get close enough to where he could through it over her head, right to Ariara. Ariara leaped up into the air to catch the ball, running toward their end zone. The crowd was cheering. Timberwolves were right on Ariara's trail.

"Ariara, I'm open," MG told her.

As Connor and Dana lunged for Ariara, Ariara spun around them to throw MG the ball. MG finished the play by making it to the end zone.

The ref blew his whistle, raising his arms.

There was a lot of cheering from the crowd and Stallion cheerleaders. MG leaped up to throw the ball down in the end zone, cheering.

Kaleb and MG ran to each other, doing a handshake and chest bump. "Pow, pow, pow!"

Danny and Ariara shared a hug at the team effort, smiling, laughing.

Lizzie ran over to get onto the three of them. "Danny! Ariara! MG, what the hell do you think you're doing?"

Dana walked over to them. "Pretty obvious, isn't it? They're saving your ass. Nice hands."

Dana walked away.

MG smiled. Lizzie gave the three of them a look, walking away. MG looked like he regretted doing it, but Danny and Ariara just brushed her off.

Woods - Root Cellar

Hope, Rae, Emma, Madison and Rafael were questioning Landon and Owen.

Hope turned to Rae. "I wouldn't believe a word they're saying if it wasn't for you being able to read their minds."

"You have every right to be mad at us, but we are telling you the truth," Landon told them. "Come on, Rae, help us."

"They're not lying about the girl or the bus," Rae told them.

"So there's a fire breathing woman that burned the bus alive?" Madison asked skeptically.

"Yeah," Owen answered.

"And Owen and Landon happened to be spared?" Hope asked skeptically.

"We already told you that we ran," Landon told them.

"And conveniently lost the knife on the way?" Emma asked.

"Yes," Landon told them. "She kept coming at us like she was gonna take it from us. She was burning everything in her path."

"Owen, you want to explain to us what you were doing stealing the knife in the first place?" Madison asked, betrayed.

"I don't remember stealing it," Owen admitted.

"Of course not," Hope told them sarcastically.

Rae was reading their minds, shaking his head. "He's not lying. I can see Owen's memory, and it's like the memory of the knife isn't even in there."

"How is that even possible?" Madison asked.

"How should we know?" Owen asked. "All of the supernatural became very real to me and Landon just a few days ago. We have no clue."

"Okay, how about they pretended to be compelled by Luke?" Hope asked.

Landon stood. "That was to avoid being thrown back in the werewolf dungeon."

"Transitional cellar," Rae corrected.

"Small spaces," Landon replied. "Guys, you have to understand Luke and Ryan already told me and Owen the school wasn't gonna let us stay. If they thought we'd talk, they'd lock us back up. There wasn't a good ending for either of us."

Owen stood. "I didn't want to steal from you, and I don't want a fire breather chasing me. Or Landon. I'm sorry for all of it."

Madison sighed, not knowing what to believe. "Rae?"

Rae shook her head in confusion. "They're not lying. I don't know how, but what they are saying is the truth. I'm not seeing the knife in either of their memories. It's like... it's not mentally them."

"Then what else could it possibly be?" Emma asked.

"We  don't know, Emma," Rafael told her.

"So there's really a fire breathing woman running through the woods?" Hope asked.

Kaylin, Nicola and Tory ran down into the cellar.

"There's a fire breathing woman running through the woods," Tory answered.

Rae sighed, nodding. Hope, Emma and Madison looked at Owen and Landon in shock, who both looked relieved now that they knew they were completely telling the truth.

Nicola gave them a look. "Did I or did I not say 'don't engage'?"

"They're only dangerous if crappy apologies can kill," Hope told them.

"And looks can be deceiving," Kaylin replied.

"Now, our bus refugee, turns out she's a pyromancer," Tory told them.

"Wait, wh--what's a pyromancer?" Owen asked.

"A fire breathing witch," Nicola answered.

Rafael chuckled, giving the girls 'I told you so' look for not believing in Landon and Owen.

"Kaylin?" Madison asked. "Tory, Nikki, she wants the knife."

"Okay, well, where is it?" Kaylin asked.

They looked at Landon and Owen.

"We--we lost it in the woods," Landon told them. "We were running around in circles all night trying to find a place to hide."

Tory sighed. "Okay, okay. Well, let's, uh, find it before she does, huh?"

They all walked up out of the root cellar, into the woods above, only to stop when they say the woman walking closer.

"You're looking in the wrong place for a fight, girl," Kaylin told her. "We're like the definitions of trouble."

The woman held out her hand, looking at Landon and Owen.

"What does she want again?" Tory asked.

Owen shook his head. "I don't know."

The woman held out her hand more persistently.

"Lan?" Rafael asked. "Owen?"

Kaylin looked at Owen and Landon in realization, annoyed. "Maybe she wants the knife you said you don't have."

The woman was about to hurl fire at them.

"Back in the cellar, go," Nicola told them. "Go, go, go, go."

Everyone started to run back into the cellar. Rae was the last one to, turning to block the fire with a hand and make it shoot up into the sky, protecting everyone else in the cellar, before jumping down into the cellar herself, using her power to close the doors behind her.

-~-

Rae looked at Owen and Landon. "Where the hell is it?"

Landon pulled out the knife. "I'm sorry. I panicked."

"What?" Owen asked.

"Owen did drop it, but I found it and picked it up and I didn't tell him," Landon explained.

Emma took the knife from Landon.

"Lan, Owen, what the hell?" Rafael asked.

They could sense the woman hurling fire at the doors.

"Tory, the doors," Kaylin told her.

Tory turned to the doors. "Got it. Adiuuatur." Tory's spell made the flames disappear, currently protecting the doors and them all. "Okay, it's a quick fix. It won't last long."

"All right, great," Nicola told them sarcastically, pulling out her cellphone.

Owen noticed something across the root cellar. "What are a bunch of cellphones doing here?"

"What is all this?" Emma asked.

The teens started to go through the belongings.

"It's from the people on the bus," Madison answered.

They looked at Landon and Owen.

"We didn't bring it here," Landon told them defensively. "I--"

Rae turned to the girls in annoyance. "If either Landon or Owen say 'I swear' one more time, I'm gonna melt them."

Kaylin gave her an amused look. "You're so much like me, Nikki and Nik. Even a bit like Damon."

Rae shrugged.

The game was still underway.

Danny clapped his hands, going into the next play. "Set! Hut!"

Lizzie snapped the ball back to Danny. Danny caught it.

Dana ran for Danny. "Blitz!" Danny backed away with the ball in the air. "It's green, it's green."

Danny threw the ball over Dana toward Josie. Josie acted like she would catch it but let the ball bounce of her hands to the ground.

Ariara sighed in annoyance, tilting her head. "Josie."

Josie shrugged, walking away.

Dana smirked, turning to Lizzie. "Your sister sucks at football. You should've absorbed her in the womb."

"You know what?" Lizzie asked. "We've been playing this game for years, and for years, you have been digging at me. Is it because I'm prettier than you?"

Dana shook her head. "Honestly, I just get a thrill of tormenting all the crazies. Speaking of, it's been a while since you paid a visit to my mom's pharmacy. Maybe you're feeling a little delusional because you're off your meds."

Dana turned around, walking away. Lizzie looked absolutely furious and appalled, wanting payback.

(Song:) Here We Go - KB feat. PK Oneday

Lizzie walked up to the other Stallions for a team huddle. "New plan. The gloves are off. Let's burn these bitches to the ground."

Josie gave her sister a look. "Lizzie, no."

Lizzie smirked. "We're gonna give these townies a taste of what we're really made of."

Kaleb nodded in agreement, finally happy with this plan.

"Okay, me and my family kept suggesting that we play fair, not use our magic," Danny told them. "Or any of our powers."

"Well, we don't have to, Danny," Ariara told him. "But I'm not used to laying down and letting the enemies win. I'm used to fighting to conquer."

Danny sighed. "Of course you are, Ariara. Just don't get us exposed."

Danny, Lizzie and Ariara put their hands in. MG, and Kaleb were the first ones to follow suit.

"You can count on my steel," MG told them.

Ariara made a face. "Ew. Gross."

Kaleb smirked, shaking his head. "Hey, I'm with you, all the way."

Everyone put Josie put their hands in.

"Come on, Josie," Ariara told her. "You're ruining an epic moment here."

"No, no, this isn't what we talked about," Josie told them.

"Well, we're calling an audible, and I need you to get on board," Lizzie told her.

Kaleb nodded in agreement. Ariara shrugged. Danny smirked. MG smiled. Josie hesitated before putting her hand in as well. Ariara smiled. Josie and Lizzie's hands glowed red as they siphoned some magic from the other players's hands, and they all threw their hands up. "Break!"

They all went to go play the game.

Lyla was sitting on the front bleachers, calling out to her cousin and adoptive cousin. "Let's go, Danny! Let's go, Ariara!"

Danny and Ariara smiled, waving to Lyla. "Hey, Lyla."

Lyla smiled, waving back. "Hi! Take them down!"

Danny and Ariara laughed.

MG walked up to a Timberwolf player, getting into formation. "Hey, buckle up, son. You about to be tripping." He compelled the player. "For real, though. Trip."

"Set, hut!" Danny called.

Josie snapped the ball to Danny, which he caught. As MG ran at the player he was facing, he tripped like MG compelled him to do, as MG continued to run down the field. Danny threw the ball to MG.

MG easily made it to the end zone, jumping up, doing a jump, throwing the ball down. "Whoo!"

Lyla was clapping from the sidelines, smiling, cheering. "Danny! Ariara!"

The next ball, the other team had the ball. The snapper snapped the ball to Connor, who passed it to Dana. Dana ran toward their end zone.

Lizzie cast a spell. "Stillabuntay."

With a barely noticeable hand gesture, Lizzie used her magic to make Dana drop the ball. Kaleb ran over to get the ball, running to the end zone.

MG was cheering him on. "Oh, yeah, go, go, go!"

Connor tried to tackle Kaleb, who jumped over with ease, making the touch down, tossing the ball down. Kaleb and MG jumped up to do a chest bump, cheering, high fiving with Danny. Now the score was tied, 35 to 35. Josie did not look happy.

Lindsey, Luke, Ryan and Alaric were researching.

"Tory just texted," Luke explained. "They can barely call because connection sucks."

"Why?" Lindsey asked. "Where are they?"

"Root cellar full of contraband that their pickpockets Owen Church and Landon Kirby claim they didn't steal," Luke answered.

"There's a fire breather coming after them, Luke," Lindsey told him. "Can you prioritize your rage?"

Ryan realized what it really was. "Dragon."

"What?" Alaric asked.

"Dragon," Ryan repeated. "She steals treasure, breathes fire, hides the loot in her lair. She--she's not a pyromacer, she's a..."

"Dragons don't exist, Ryan, or look like normal people," Luke told him.

"There was a time we would have said that about vampires and werewolves," Lindsey pointed out. "Or Banshees like Madison."

Luke scoffed. "Okay, fine. She's a--a human dragon. Now what?"

"In anything I've ever read..." Ryan trailed off.

"In fiction," Alaric told him.

"The way to take down a dragon?" Lindsey asked.

"You need a ass load of courage and a sword," Ryan answered.

Lindsey realized. "Nicola's sword."

"Yeah," Ryan answered. "She always has it on her."

Alaric pointed at them. "You call Kaylin, Nicola and Tory back, let them know what they, Rae, Hope, Emma and Madison need to do to get rid of the dragon before they or Rafael, Landon and Owen get killed. I'll keep researching."

Lindsey, Ryan and Luke nodded in agreement. "Yeah."

(Song:) Used to the Darkness - Des Rocs

The dragon was getting closer to the root cellar. The doors magically blew open as the girls walked up.

Hope magically threw the dragon several feet back, making her fall to the ground. "Didn't anyone ever tell you smoking's bad for you?" The dragon growled, getting up. "I know. Quitting's hard."

The dragon started to hurl fire at them.

Rae stepped in front of them.

"Rae!" Tory told her.

Rae held out her hand, easily making the fire being hurled at her curl up into the sky, her eyes glowing with Hellfire. "I have literal Hellfire running through my veins. Dragon fire is a breeze."

Kaylin smirked, impressed, proud. "That's my girl."

Rae summoned enough Hellfire to push it toward the dragon, but the dragon's fire could protect itself from Hellfire, so they couldn't kill the dragon with Rae/Rosalita's Hellfire.

"So much for thinking that Hellfire to be able to kill this thing," Madison told them. "Lindsey, Ryan and Luke were right about the sword/knife thing."

Nicola drew her sword, spinning it around to hit the dragon in the back of the head, making her fall and stop breathing fire.

Rafael, Landon and Owen walked out from the root cellar.

Owen looked at Nicola, stunned. "What, you just keep that thing on you at all times?"

"Pretty much, yeah," Nicola answered. "I'm a Huntress. What do you expect?"

Owen chuckled. "Right."

Rafael wanted to help, holding his hand toward Emma for the knife. "Emma, ally-oop."

Rafael took a running start. Emma tossed the knife up to Rafael. Rafael jumped into the air, catching the knife, jumping down to stab the dragon in the chest, making her fall. Emma and Rafael exchanged a look.

Nicola held up her sword, ready for whenever the dragon would get up, but it appeared that she was dead, to the confusion of the group.

"That couldn't be it," Madison told them. "Right?"

No one knew the answer.

Salvatore Boarding School - Fields

MG and Kaleb were on their way over to the team on the bench.

"Let's go!" MG cheered.

Kaleb smiled. "All day, baby. And there's more where that came from."

Josie walked closer in disapproval.

MG sighed. "Not if she's got anything to say about it."

Josie took a whiteboard and a marker from Ariara to write something down.

"What are you doing?" Ariara asked.

"I'm calling an audible of my own," Josie answered, turning the whiteboard to face the team to show them that it said 'Lose'.

"Seriously?" Lizzie asked.

"I'm dead serious," Josie answered. "And you should be, too. Dad told us to lose today for a reason."

"Well, he ain't here," Kaleb replied. "Neither are Lindsey, Ryan and Luke. So screw that."

"Yeah, no one would be here if it weren't for Lindsey, Ryan, Kaylin, Nicola, Tory and Luke," Josie pointed out. "Or Aunt Eliza, Kacie and Mikayla."

"Kaylin and Nikki gave this place to Lindsey and Ryan to build this school for supernaturals like us, so if we win by flaunting all the things that make us different, we're gonna lose a lot more than a stupid game," Ariara pointed out. "We'll lose everything."

"Ariara's right," Danny agreed. "That's why Ari and I haven't used our powers. And why Ara and I tried to tell the rest of you not to."

"Lizzie, you already think that Madison stopped loving us," Josie told her. "You want Dad to stop, too? Keep this up. And if you don't..."

Josie pointed to her 'LOSE' message again.

"They're right, Lizzie," MG told her. "We got to lose the game."

"I didn't ask for your opinion," Lizzie told him.

"And Danny and I never said to lose the game, just to stop using your powers," Ariara added.

Lyla jumped down next to Danny and Ariara, making the team jump when she spoke. "There's door number three we keep talking about."

"Okay, Lyla, no offence, but you're too young for this," Josie told her. "And how on earth do you always do that?" She looked at Danny. "It's like she appears out of smoke."

Danny smirked. "Yeah, well, that's Lyla for you."

"Hold up, hold up," Kaleb told them. "I wanna hear what Little Lyla has to say. What's door number three?"

"You win, without any of your supernatural awesome sauce," Lyla answered. "Fair and square."

Ariara nodded in agreement. "Just like Kaylin, Nikki, Tory, Luke, Lindsey and Ryan said it was okay to do."

"Yeah, but we're legitimately terrible," Josie told them.

"No, we used to be terrible, but Ariara and Danny just joined the team, and Kaleb's new this year," Lizzie pointed out.

Kaleb, Danny and Ariara nodded.

"So am I," MG agreed. "I can help us win, too." Lizzie raised her eyebrows skeptically. "Yo, I caught Ariara's pass earlier."

"Yeah, but you cheated," Josie told him. "You used your powers."

"No, I didn't," MG denied. "I'm--I'm just... I'm scrappy like that."

"Good idea, Lyla," Lizzie told her. "I wasn't gonna listen to Danny and Ariara when they said it because I don't like them." Danny and Ariara nodded sarcastically. Lizzie looked at Lyla. "But you're cute and sweet, so I'll take it from you." Lyla smiled. "But you still can't play for a few years to come."

Lyla pouted. "Boo." This caused the team to laugh at the cute, disappointed reaction. Lyla sighed. "Fair and square. You can do this."

Josie still didn't like this idea, but the rest of the team did, cheering in agreement.

MG raised his fist. "Solid."

Danny patted Lyla on the shoulder. "Don't worry, Lyla. You can play when just a bit older. Thanks for helping me and Ariara convince them."

Lyla smiled. "You got it, Danny."

Ariara ruffled with Lyla's hair. "Thanks, Lyla."

"Ariara, is it ironic that you're facing the Timberwolves, and you're part lion?" Lyla asked. "And eagle and serpent?" Everyone chuckled in agreement. The team all ran out to the field. Lyla went back to cheering. "Let's go, Danny, let's go! Let's go, Ariara, let's go!"

The group stood around the body of the dragon.

Rafael took the knife out of the dragon's body, handing it back to Emma. "Promise kept."

Emma reached out to take the knife, their fingers touching for a second too long as they looked each other in the eyes. Emma took the knife quickly, turning away.

"Everyone all right?" Tory asked.

They nodded.

Nicola sighed. "Let's give her a proper burial. We gotta keep everyone in the dark in this town. See if you can find a shovel."

Kaylin sighed. "Been a long time since we've given someone a proper burial, isn't it, Nikki? But not long enough."

Landon, Owen and Rafael went to do as told.

Tory's phone buzzed. She answered it. "Luke? What'd you, Lindsey and Ryan find out?"

"Ric found it," Lindsey explained. "The soft spot, that's how you kill it."

"Uh, knife to the heart did the trick," Emma said.

Luke nodded. "Huh. So much for research. I've hated it anyway."

"What are you reading, Game of Thrones?" Madison asked sarcastically.

Alaric chuckled. "Puff the Magic Dragon."

"Oh, imagine that," Hope told them sarcastically.

Ryan smirked. "Right."

"Look, this just doesn't make any sense," Alaric told them. "I--it has got to be something else."

Rae looked behind the others to see movement, looking at it in shock. "Guys."

"What is it?" Lindsey asked.

"What's wrong?" Luke asked.

The other girls turned to follow Rae's gaze, seeing that the dragon woman had transformed into her dragon form.

"Oh, it's a dragon, all right," Emma told them. "We're gonna have to call you back."

"Emma," Ryan said. "Emma!"

Tory hung up.

Rafael, Owen and Landon returned from the root cellar.

"Guys..." Owen trailed off.

They stopped when they saw the dragon.

Hope couldn't take her eyes away from the dragon. "Oh, my God."

The dragon started to fly up, hurling fire straight toward them.

Rae raised her arm to block the fire again, protecting everyone, controlling the fire enough to where it looked like a protective bubble around her and the group. "No!"

-~-

The dragon was now gone.

Landon was in shock. "Was that a..."

"You guys go," Kaylin told them. "Get to the car and get out of here."

"What about you?" Owen asked.

"I have an idea," Tory told them.

"What?" Nicola asked.

Tory took the knife from Emma. "She wants this. She's going to be back."

Madison looked at Rafael, Owen and Landon. "All right, you three go to the car. We'll meet you there. Go."

The three boys ran off.

"I've got an idea for a spell," Emma told them.

"You wake up with a death wish today?" Hope asked.

"Something like that," Emma answered.

The other girls looked at her in concern.

"All right," Rae said. "Then we just have to find the dragon."

"She said very casually," Kaylin told her.

"Rae has the She-Devil locked inside her," Madison pointed out. "All of this, compared to that is casual, Kaylin."

Hope nodded in agreement. "True."

Nicola smirked. "Let's go."

Salvatore Boarding School - Fields

The game continued. The score was now Stallions: 42 to Timberwolves: 48.

Danny ran up to the team. "Okay, guys, last play of the game. It's Hail Mary time. Everyone but Josie, go long."

"Wait, what do I do?" Josie asked.

"It doesn't matter, 'cause there's no way I'm gonna throw you the ball," Danny told her. "You actually want us to lose."

"Danny, look my way," Ariara told him. "I'll catch it."

Lizzie gave Ariara a snarky look. "Probably caught something from Penelope Park, too."

Ariara rolled her eyes. "You know what?"

"Knock it off," Kaleb told them. "Look, we score, and those clowns can't say crap to us for an entire year. Y'all feel me?"

"He's right, guys," MG told them. "Let's do this."

"Ready?" Danny asked.

They all clapped their hands. "Break!"

(Song:) Tambourine - Mr. Gabriel

The team split up for one last play of the game.

Dana faced off with Lizzie. "I'm gonna eat you alive."

"Why?" Lizzie asked mockingly. "So you can throw me up later?"

Dana glared, tilting her head, as both teams prepared for the final play.

Lyla was cheering from the sidelines. "Let's go, Danny, let's go! Let's go, Ariara, let's go!"

Penelope watched with a smirk, walking closer. "Aren't you cute little thing, Lyla?"

"I don't wanna talk to you," Lyla told her. "You hurt Josie and Ariara. You might wanna stop."

"Why's that?" Penelope asked.

Lyla tilted her head. "You wouldn't be the first She-Devil I've helped fight against and taken down."

Lyla walked away. Penelope was surprised but impressed with Lyla's sass, smirking in amusement. Ariara and Danny heard Lyla from the field, smirking proudly.

Danny started the final play. "Set! Hut!"

Lizzie snapped the ball to Danny. Danny caught it, backing away. Everyone ran long like Danny told them to, except for Josie.

Dana was counting. "One Mississippi, two Mississippi."

Ariara turned back for the ball. "Danny, I'm open."

Dana continued to count to five, running for Danny.  Connor and another player were blocking off MG and Ariara so that Danny couldn't pass to them. Kaleb spun around a Timberwolf to become free for the pass, turning back for the ball. Dana nearly tackled Danny, but Lizzie tackled Dana down instead. Danny threw the ball to Kaleb. The ball seemed to be soaring toward Kaleb in slow motion.

Josie rubbed her fingers together to cast a spell, whispering under her breath, making Kaleb fumble the ball and drop it, making them lose the game. The Stallions looked very defeated and disappointed, while the Timberwolves were cheering happily and mockingly.

Lyla pouted in disappointment, looking down, putting her hands to her head. "No."

Woods

Rafael, Owen and Landon were running from the dragon to get to the car, as it flew overhead, circling around.

Elsewhere in the woods, the girls were looking for the dragon, seeing that it was circling back for them and the knife.

"It's coming back," Kaylin told them. "What now?"

"Madison, Kaylin, Nicola, you should take cover," Tory told them.

Nicola scoffed. "Like hell."

"Kaylin, Aunt Nikki, you're both badasses, but you're just vampires, and Madison's just a badass Banshee, while Tory and I are tribrids, Rae's a damn near all powerful psychic who can control the fire, and Emma's a werewitch with the spell to destroy this thing," Hope pointed out.

"The lack of magic card?" Madison asked. "That's a low blow." She sighed. "All right."

Kaylin, Nicola and Madison hated to do so, but they ran for cover.

The dragon was hurling more fire than ever at the girls.

Rae held out her hands, eyes glowing with Hellfire, to curl the dragon fire away from them. "Emma, whatever spell you're gonna use, do it fast."

Emma took out her spell, holding up the knife toward the dragon, holding the spell between her, Tory and Hope on either side of her so they could read the spell together.

Tory was in shock to see that spell.  "Emma... that's a death spell. One of the blackest of magic. Why do you have that?"

"We don't have time for questions like that, Aunt Tory," Emma told her. "We need to use it now or we're dead. Rae can't hold the fire off forever."

Knowing that she was right and they didn't have a choice at the moment, but hating to do so, Tory and Hope started to chant with Emma, reading the spell off the paper. "Tenebris anima vestra contundito mortem. Et conteret spiritum. Frange vitam. Nolita corde. Ut cub terra esse, ad tenebras usque in sempiternum." Rae continued to use her power to hold off the fire that the dragon was blowing at them, the dragon getting weaker as Tory, Emma and Hope continued the spell. Seeing that the dragon was getting weaker and the fire was starting to die down, Kaylin, Nicola and Madison came out of cover and walked closer. "Tenebris anima vestra contundito mortem. Et conteret spiritum. Frange vitam. Nolita corde. Ut cub terra esse, ad tenebras usque in sempiternum."

The dragon cried out as it lowered to the ground, having to return to human form. Rae lowered her arm, letting the glow of Hellfire fade from her eyes. The girls walked closer.

Rae took the knife from Emma, holding it up. The dragon, very weakened, stood, trying to attack again, all scraped up and bloody. Madison, walking closer with her eyes glowing silver, released a Banshee scream at the dragon, sending scream waves to throw the dragon to the ground, wounding it even more, nearly killing her. The dragon reached up, no longer able to fight, reaching out pleadingly for the knife.

Rae kept the knife out of the dragon's reach. "Where did you come from? Why do you want this so badly? What's so special about it? Say something."

Madison's eyes glowed silver again as a Banshee vision showed her a stab wound in her neck. She touched the stab wound, blood trailing down her skin in the vision, but she already knew that it would be the dragon to die in just a second, not phased by the vision in the lead.

Kaylin, Nicola and Madison walked closer until they stood with Tory, Hope, Rae and Emma. The dragon looked devastated, defeated, turning her head away, letting her eyes glow orange, turning back to start to hurl fire at them. Nicola drew her sword, stabbing the dragon deep in the neck, in the soft spot, before the fire could be released, killing her.

Kaylin and Nicola sighed. "Whoa."

Salvatore Boarding School - Fields

The two teams were walking in lines to high five each other, though they hated to do so.

Alaric, Lindsey, Ryan and Luke walked up to Lyla at the sidelines.

"So?" Luke asked. "What'd we miss, Lyla?"

Lyla smiled innocently, shaking her head. "Nothing much."

Alaric frowned. "Now, why don't I believe that?"

"Were Danny and Ariara okay?" Lindsey asked.

"Did they have any problems?" Ryan asked.

"No, they were good," Lyla answered.

Luke chuckled. "Huh. Lindsey, Ryan, you should be proud. Danny and Ariara were actually good during the game for a change. How about that?"

"Shut up, Luke," Ryan replied.

Lindsey chuckled. "Hmm. Yeah."

The two teams were still high fiving.

Josie nodded to Dana. "Good game."

"Suck it, loser," Dana replied.

Lizzie punched Dana in the face, much to Kaleb's surprise, who held her back. "Not now, Dana!"

This started a full blown fight between the two teams.

Alaric, Luke and Ryan, along with the Timberwolves's coach and the ref ran over to break up the fight.

"Hey, no, stop!" Luke told them.

"Stop," Alaric told them.

The fight continued even though they tried to stop it.

Lindsey sighed, holding her head in frustration, running over to help try and stop the fight.

Lyla made an innocent, busted face that was sweet and adorable and sheepish. "Uh-oh."

Kaylin was kneeling next to the body of the dragon, which was truly dead this time, making a sarcastic remark. "Guess that was the soft spot."

"This wasn't earth magic, Emma," Tory told her.

"This wasn't an earth magic problem," Emma replied. "Aunt Tory, I know you're gonna tell Uncle Luke, Mom and Dad, but..."

"We don't allow black magic," Nicola told her. "Even the spells that Auria, Freya, Lindsey and Tory always cast against the bad guys, it wasn't black magic."

Hope looked down. "We should get back to Owen, Landon and Rafael."

"Yeah," Rae agreed softly. "Yeah, in case they decide to take off again."

Madison looked down at the body of the dragon. "We can't leave her here. We have to bury her."

They all nodded in agreement.

Dusk - Salvatore Boarding School - Outside

The Stallions were all making their way inside, led by Danny and Ariara.

-

Inside - Hallway

MG was walking down the hallway, wearing nothing but a towel, from just having a shower, walking past Ariara as he did.

"Hey," Ariara greeted. MG turned around, his towel nearly falling off, which he desperately grabbed to keep him covered him. Ariara looked away before she could see anything. "Oh, whoa, towel on, please. 'Cause vampire or not, the last thing I want to see is your lost boy."

"Damn, Ariara, you're acting more like a normal every day high school teenager after two years rather than some princess from a far off kingdom," MG pointed out.

"Yeah, well, Kiesha'ra wasn't as old fashioned as all of you might think," Ariara replied. "It was different, of course, but the technology was a lot more advanced, actually. So I got to see a lot of things you all got to see while growing up."

"Yeah, but you still act like the proper mannered princess," MG told her. "Which is a good thing, by the way. You still got the sass to go with it, so even better."

Ariara chuckled, smiling. "You took what I said earlier, a sarcastic comment about making Lizzie like you, too literally, Milton."

"Yeah, but all it did was make the wrong girl look my way," MG sighed.

Ariara shrugged. "Lizzie's nemesis Dana liking you might make her jealous though. If she actually likes you."

"You really think that it could make Lizzie like me?" MG asked.

"Nothing can make her like you," Ariara answered. "But it might make it a little clearer if she ever could."

MG nodded in understanding and agreement. "What about you? You're totally crushing on Josie, Ariara."

"I don't need a relationship like you do now," Ariara told him. "I'd rather not be in one right now. But yes, I admit it. I do like her. And if I could help you achieve your dream, I fulfill a promise I made to Mikayla and Kacie about making more friends than just Hope, Rae, Emma, Danny and Madison and little Lyla. Who are all technically family through adoption, which is probably the only reason why we're friends, but still. Madison, Hope and Rae through Mikayla as she is Hope's aunt and Madison and Rae consider her Mikayla aunt, too, and Emma, Danny and Lyla through Kacie, since Lyla is Kacie's direct niece because of Tory, and Emma and Danny are somewhat Kacie's niece and nephew through Tory, Ryan, Lindsey and Luke."

MG smiled. "Right. Complicated family tree."

Ariara smirked. "You have no idea."

Ariara walked away. MG watched her go curiously, smiling at the thought of making a new friend.

Lizzie/Josie's Dorm Room

Lizzie was sitting on her bed, having a black eye, using makeup to cover it up.

Josie walked in, holding up an ice pack for her. "You made at me 'cause we lost the game?"

"No," Lizzie answered. "I'm mad at the world, and you just happen to be in it."

Josie sighed, closing the door behind her, walking closer. "Well, you're about to be. I did a little spell at the game. I made Kaleb drop the ball. And I totally did black magic with Emma."

Lizzie gave her a shocked, incredulous look. "Well, let's just call this what it is. You betrayed me."

Josie frowned, stepping closer, sitting down with Lizzie. "I was worried about disappointing Dad. So I disappointed you instead."

Josie offered the ice pack to Lizzie.

Lizzie hesitated a long moment before taking the ice pack. "I'll forgive you if you promise to never keep secrets about doing black magic with Emma. You're my sister, my best friend, and Hope, Rae, Emma and Danny spent the last ten years making us feel like we don't matter. And I don't like feeling that way. Not from them, and not from girls like Dana, not from Dad, and not from you."

Josie nodded in agreement. "I promise. Okay? I'm sorry."

"It's okay," Lizzie told her. "I mean, betrayal and all aside, you had my back today."

Josie smiled at the memory of Lizzie punching Dana in the face because she called Josie a loser. "And you had mine."

Lizzie smiled but let it fade. "I don't know why Madison keeps choosing Hope, Rae, Emma and Danny over us after how they treat us."

"We're all her family," Josie answered. "And it's not like they're ever actually trying to be mean to us. It's just... they don't talk to us either. They don't talk to anyone." They both laid down, cuddling up. "So, what are we gonna do about Dad?"

"More like, what is he gonna do to us?" Lizzie asked.

Josie took back the ice pack to place it lightly to Lizzie's bruised eye, making her wince slightly at first touch but then relax to the soothing feeling of the cold.

(Song:) Coming Up For Air - Signals in Smoke

Kaylin, Nicola, Tory, Hope, Rae, Emma and Madison were returning to find Lindsey, Ryan, Luke, Danny, Lyla and Ariara waiting for them. They all shared an embrace in different combinations of groups as the families were reunited.

"Where are Owen, Landon and Rafael?" Luke asked.

"Gone," Kaylin answered. "We found letters for Hope and Madison from Landon and Owen when we got back to the van."

Nicola sighed. "We wished that they wouldn't take off. But of course when Owen and Landon took off, so did Rafael."

Lyla embraced Tory. "Hey, Mom."

"Tory," Luke said.

Tory sighed heavily, embracing her daughter and husband. "Hey, Lyla. Luke. I'm just glad to be home."

"Glad to have you home," Luke agreed.

Ariara shared an embrace with Hope, Emma, Danny, Madison and Rae as they all said something to tease each other indistinctly, laughing lightly.

Lindsey sighed heavily. "Emma. We need to talk. Now."

Emma hesitated, having known this was coming, looking upset, but followed Lindsey, Ryan and Danny.

-

Lindsey/Ryan's Office

Lindsey, Ryan and Danny walked into the office.

Danny turned to Emma. "What were you thinking, Emma?"

"I really don't need a lecture from you, Danny," Emma told him. "A lecture from Aunt Tory, Mom, Dad and Uncle Luke this morning and now is enough."

Ryan sighed, shaking his head. "Danny and Ariara were able to keep complete control during the game today. They did what we needed them to do. And we told you to come to us with stuff like this. We can't do black magic, Emma. It gets inside your heart and it poisons your mind. Now, we looked the other way this morning 'cause we knew you were upset, but what you did, and got Tory and Hope to do, in the woods was a death spell. A spell you couldn't have known you would need to use on a dragon, which... which means you had other plans for it."

Emma looked down nervously. Lindsey, Ryan and Danny were shocked to know what she wanted to use it for.

Lindsey was absolutely heartbroken with this situation. "Landon and Owen did something stupid, maybe evil. We won't know until we learn more, but... they're still just kids, Emma. And so are you. This hatred, this vengeance... this isn't you. It can't be you. Ryan and I told you before about how Bonnie, Tory and I were once addicted to Expression. That's why Rosalita wanted you to get started in black magic two years ago, because the addiction to this stuff runs in the family, and we can't let that happen to you."

"Where did you even get this spell?" Ryan asked. "Or any of them?"

"I don't know," Emma admitted. "They would... just pop into my head, and I would write them down. At first I didn't know they were black magic, but after a little time, I did. And now..."

"They just popped into your head?" Danny repeated. "Like the visions I see just pop into mine?"

The four of them, after that connection, realized where the spells were coming from and why Emma was having such a tough time with dark magic again. "Rosalita."

Emma started to cry. "I'm sorry. I didn't..."

Lindsey and Ryan looked so heartbroken to know that Rosalita could still do this to their kids even when she was locked away inside Rae, hating to see how much pain they both were in, pulling Emma and Danny into an embrace. The family of four continued to embrace emotionally, all worried about what could happen to Emma and Danny with Rosalita still playing tricks on them from her cage.

Landon: (voice over, letter to Hope) "Dear Hope, you strike me as the kind of person who's not so big on second chances, much less third, but I'm gonna give it a shot."

-

Hope/Rae's Dorm Room

Hope and Rae were lying down, but not sleeping, while Hope was reading her letter from Landon.

-

Garden

Madison was sitting outside to watch the sunset, reading her letter from Owen.

Owen: (voice over, letter to Madison) "Dear Madison. You admitted a lot to me the other day, things that you would tell a person in confidence, and then I ended up breaking that trust even though I didn't know why or how. I can't explain why I took that knife, or when I dropped it and Landon picked it up and didn't tell anyone about that either. Believe me, I wish I could."

-

Road

As the sun was setting, Owen, Rafael and Landon were trying to hitchhike.

Owen: (voice over, letter to Madison) "But maybe I can explain why we ran."

Landon: (voice over, letter to Hope) "I have never been welcomed anywhere in my life except when it came to Owen and Rafael, and Owen and I realized that we could be actual blood brothers. I was always the extra. The mouth foster parents didn't want to feed. If I caused trouble, I was out. When you grow up like that, you learn how to protect yourself."

-

Night - Salvatore Boarding School - Lizzie/Josie's Dorm Room

Alaric walked in to check on Lizzie and Josie.

Owen: (voice over, letter to Madison) "I've always done what I had to do to survive. Ever since Nicola saved me from those vampires when I was little, and especially in the kind of foster homes I grew up with. I would either run or learn how to protect myself. I never had a real family., not until I realized that Landon could be my real brother. And that's not meant to make you feel sorry for either of us. I'm trying to make you understand. I don't know why we lied, but we ran to protect ourselves, but in doing so, we hurt the two girls that we like. And for that, I will be forever sorry."

Josie woke up to see that Alaric was watching her and Lizzie sleep, sitting up. "Dad? I can explain."

Lizzie woke up, sitting up. Alaric walked over to embrace his daughters, sitting with them.

-

Hope/Rae's Room

Kaylin walked in, checking on Hope and Rae. "Hope? Rae? You two okay?"

Hope and Rae nodded. "Yeah."

"You don't have to keep checking up on us, Kaylin," Hope told her.

"You just got your heart broken by a second boy, and so did Madison, her first heartbreak, while Rae is... dealing with everything she's dealing with, Hope," Kaylin replied. "Of course I do." Hope and Rae smiled slightly. Kaylin sat down with them. "Rae... I am so proud of you. You did so good today."

Rae was not surprised to hear that, but surprised to hear that she did a better job than she had been doing. "I did?"

Hope nodded. "You did."

Rae managed a small smile in relief, tears in her eyes. Hope and Kaylin smiled in return, embracing Rae and each other, while Hope kept eyeing her letter from Landon.

Landon: (voice over, letter to Hope) "I know there's a chance that you'll never forgive me, and you probably won't believe me, but I am sorry. The time I spent with you the other night was one of the happiest moments in my life. I hate that I ruined it. Your school secret is safe with me and Owen. With regret, Landon."

-

Emma/Ariara's Dorm Room

Ariara was sitting alone in the dorm room, about to go to bed. She stopped when she saw an artistic drawing of her kingdom and another of her family, looking like she could cry from missing them so much. She looked at another picture of Ariara with Kacie and Mikayla, and another of her with Lyla, Hope, Rae, Emma, Danny and Madison to make herself feel better, though it wasn't working much.

Owen: (voice over, letter to Madison) "I know that you and Nicola believed in me, Madison. And I know that's why what I did hurt you both."

-

Kids's Dorm Room

Several kids could sleep in one room with many bunk beds around the room. Tory and Luke were tucking Lyla in for the night, kissing her on the head. Lyla smiled tiredly, holding their hands until she drifted off to sleep.

Owen: (voice over, letter to Madison) "And I know that with everything you've all been through, you can't forgive easily. And you probably don't believe much of what Landon and I said, even though Rae confirmed it with her power."

-

Garden

Madison was still reading the letter. Nicola walked closer to sit by Madison. They exchanged a long look and nod, both still trying to process what had happened with Owen and Landon and what it all meant, sharing an embrace, as Nicola let Madison lean her head on her shoulder comfortingly.

Owen: (voice over, letter to Madison) "I just wish that you know that I never meant to hurt anyone. I'm not asking for forgiveness or for you to forget, and not even understanding, since I don't even understand. I'm not asking for anything at all. All I can say is that I am truly sorry. And even though I might not ever be able to make it up to you, I would like to try if we ever got the chance to see each other again. From Owen."

-

Front Gates

Lindsey and Ryan were making sure the front gates were closed. Ryan pulled on the gate a few times.

"Trying to make sure that Emma or Danny don't make a run for it?" Lindsey asked.

Ryan sighed. "I just noticed this gate wasn't locking the other day."

"You worried about people getting out?" Lindsey asked.

"I'm worried about what might want to get in," Ryan answered. They turned to look at the school. "We've gotten cozy here. Careless. The world is full of nasty surprises, more than we thought. I don't know what the story is behind that knife, but whatever it is, I... Kaylin, Nicola, Tory, Rae, Hope, Emma, Madison, Landon, Owen and Rafael ran into something today we never thought we'd ever see in this lifetime."

"It's kind of crazy when you think about it," Lindsey admitted. Ryan nodded in agreement. "We opened this school to protect these kids, including Emma and Danny." She turned to look out through the bars of the gate. "How are we supposed to protect them from a monster inside Rae's head and from stuff that's not supposed to exist?"

"I don't know," Ryan admitted. "All I know is that you, Kaylin, Nicola, me, Luke and Tory, and even Lyla have been trying to keep Rosalita contained inside Rae. And we'll keep that up any way we can to stop her from getting to Emma and Danny again. Or anyone else. Any of us. Ariara, Hope, Madison, Ric, Lizzie and Josie. We'll protect them, Lindsey."

Lindsey sighed, nodding in agreement. "All right. Then we also have to find a way to protect them from creatures like that dragon. If any more of them coming. We have to protect them from everything, Ryan."

Ryan nodded, reaching toward Lindsey. Lindsey took his hand. Ryan kissed her hand, leading them back to the school. As they walked away and walked inside, the camera closed in on the gargoyle that was behind them. The gargoyle slowly started to come to life, its eyes glowing red, looking dangerous and menacing.
