chapter 12 - There's a Mummy On Main Street
From 1.01 "This is the Part Where You Run", there was a shot of the Salvatore School.
Nicola: (voice over) "Previously on Worlds Colliding (Legacies)."
From 1.08 "Maybe I Should Start From the End", in Tory/Luke's office, Tory and Hope sat on either side of the desk. Hope put the urn on the desk. The urn started to glow red.
Lindsey: (voice over from 1.09 What Was Emma Doing In Your Dream?) "We came into possession of another Malivore artifact."
From 1.02, 1.03, 1.04, 1.05, 1.06, 1.07, 1.08, 1.09, 1.10, 1.11, there were flashes of the Dragon, the gargoyle, the Arachne, the Dryad, the Necromancer and his zombies, the Mer Man and shadow monster, the Oneiroi, Ablah the Jinni, and the mind control slugs.
Kaylin: (voice over from 1.08 Maybe I Should Start From the End) "Now monsters that shouldn't exist have been coming after it."
From 1.07 "Death Keeps Knocking On My Door", outside the school, the Bennett witch magically transported the knife to Malivore.
Lizzie: (voice over from 1.10 There's a World Where Your Dreams Come True) "Ariara, you and Rae got bamboozled by Rosalita and one of the monsters."
From 1.10 "There's a World Where Your Dreams Come True", in the school, Lizzie was venting to Ariara, Madison and Josie. "And now only two keys separate the entire supernatural community from being consumed by a hell portal."
From 1.08 "Maybe I Should Start From the End", outside Seylah's house, Kaylin, Nicola, Rae, Hope and Madison met Clarke, while he and Triad were posing as a gas company.
"What's going on here?" Nicola asked.
"Gas leak," Clarke lied. "Don't worry, though, we have it under control."
From 1.04 "I Felt Like Launching the Revolution", in the old mill, when Ariara and Josie were both trapped by the Arachne's webs, Josie leaned forward to kiss Ariara, who was clearly taken by surprise, though she kissed back, and their lips glowed bright red as Josie siphoned some magic from Ariara.
Josie: (voice over from 1.06 Mombie Dearest) "There's this girl that I know that likes me, and that I used too have a huge crush on, but I can't be with because it would cause trouble with Lizzie, so..."
From 1.06 "Mombie Dearest", in Alaric's office, Jo frowned in confusion. "Does Lizzie know that you like this girl?"
Josie's eyes widened in alarm as the thought of Lizzie finding out. "No. That would be bad."
From 1.06 "Mombie Dearest", outside the school, Ariara and Penelope were both dressed up fancily for the twins's birthday party, arguing.
"The reason why Josie would never be with you is because of Lizzie," Penelope told her.
Ariara looked at her in confusion. "What are you talking about?"
From 1.11 "We're Gonna Need a Spotlight", in the school, kitchen, Infected Lyla's eyes started to glow green. She went to Lindsey and Ryan's office to siphon the spell off the safe to get the urn, leaving the school.
From 1.11 "We're Gonna Need a Spotlight", on the bridge, Lyla walked up to the railing of the bridge, looking at the urn. "Stupid urn. I hate you. Buh-bye."
Lyla held the urn in her hands for a moment, throwing it over the railing, down into the water below, watching it be carried away by the current.

Day One
Morning - Park, Lakeside
Ryan and Lindsey were on a date, having a picnic in the park, sitting lakeside.
Ryan poured them both a glass of champagne. "All right." He handed one glass to Lindsey, keeping the other for himself. "I told you that we would get a moment like this, Lindsey. While everyone else got to have fun and nearly killed by the mind control slugs, told you that we could get a moment off for us, ourselves, just like this. Even if it's for a moment."
Lindsey chuckled, raising her glass. "Yes, you did. You're right, Ryan. To us. To a day off. And a break from monster related business."
"Hear hear," Ryan agreed.
Lindsey and Ryan clinked their glasses, drinking, smiling. They leaned closer to kiss sweetly but passionately for a moment.
Lindsey stopped when she saw a bug, glaring. "I detest creepy crawlies."
Ryan swatted the bug away, smirking knowingly in amusement. "Does this happen to do with me and Luke scaring you, Liv and Tory with beetles when we were kids?"
"Uh, yeah," Lindsey answered in a duh voice. "Congratulations, Ryan, you and Luke successfully gave me a childhood fear."
Ryan held up his hands in a harmless gesture, both of them laughing lightly. "So have you decided if you're gonna come to the mountains with me for spring break?"
Lindsey smirked, putting her elbow on the table next to them, leaning her head on her hand. "Does it look like I know how to pitch a tent?"
Ryan shook his head. "No, it does not, Miss high heels at a picnic." Lindsey laughed. "Which is why I booked us at an inn. Emma and Danny could get their own rooms, since they both wanted a break from all of this too. Because, you know, psychologically speaking, the monsters coming, Rosalita in Rae... even after two years... it's making it harder for Emma to not use dark magic like Rosa wants her to, and Danny has gotten a handle over his control of shifting again lately, like Ariara has, but..."
"But you think that a break from all of this could help Emma and Danny get better," Lindsey finished.
"Yeah," Ryan agreed. "But, we did make a promise to Kaylin, Nicola, Rae, Hope, Madison, Tory, Luke and Lyla about sticking around, helping Kaleb control his feeding habits and such. And us Davis-Thompsons do run the school, and Ariara's coming down from a mind control slug stint, and she's crashed down from the happiness to the sadness of missing the other Natas lately, so..."
"So, after we help Tory, Luke and Lyla with Kaleb, and after we know for a fact that you, me, Emma and Danny can wishfully get away for a break to make things easier on our kids..." Lindsey trailed off. "Maybe us Davis-Thompsons could get a break. So could Ariara. She's missing her family a lot lately because it's near the anniversary of... the rest of the Natas dying."
Ryan nodded in agreement. "I know."
Lindsey smiled a bit, leaning closer to Ryan. "And here I thought I was the dreamer in this marriage."
Ryan smirked. "Oh, you are the dreamer in this marriage. You've just rubbed off a little on me."
Lindsey raised an eyebrow in amusement, tilting her head. "A little bit?"
Ryan smiled, nodding. "More than a little bit. We're both dreamers, Lindsey. How the hell do you think that we managed to create the school from the ground up and get this far?"
Lindsey smirked, nodding in agreement. "True."
Lindsey smiled, snaking her hand up around Ryan's neck so they could kiss passionately. When Lindsey felt a beetle starting to crawl up on her other hand, she jumped back and up to her feet, flinging the bug off of her in annoyance.
Ryan stood, as both he and Lindsey saw that their picnic had been overrun by beetles. "Let's get out of here. Come on, come on."
"Okay," Lindsey agreed. "All right."
Lindsey walked over to get the basket, opening it, seeing that beetles were crawling all around in there, in complete shock.

Salvatore Boarding School - Tory/Luke's Office
Tory and Lyla were sitting on a coach. Lyla looked very guilty for what she was mind controlled to do by the slug at the end of 1.11. Tory was comforting her daughter.
Luke walked in, wearing scuba gear. "I couldn't find it."
"'Cause it's not there," Tory told him.
"Then why have I done five dives looking for it?" Luke asked.
"I didn't figure it out till now," Tory answered.
Lyla looked between her parents. "When's the last time you two slept?"
Luke sighed. "Oh, Lyla, we will get some sleep when we find this damn urn."
Lyla looked down guiltily. "I'm sorry."
Luke shook his head. "Look, you've got to stop beating yourself up about this."
"I threw an extremely dangerous magical artifact into the river," Lyla told them.
"The slug made you do it," Tory assured. "It wasn't your fault. It mind controlled you."
"Mom, you, me and Rae are all powerful psychics who mind control other people, even the Huntress and Rosalita, and yet this happened to us, too?" Lyla asked.
"Because, like with Rosalita, even if you are psychics, doesn't make you immune to mind control," Luke pointed out. "Lyla, you Tory and Rae have all been mind controlled by Rosalita, and yet, all three of you have mind controlled her too. And both of you have mind controlled Rae, and Rae has mind controlled both of you."
"And Rosalita mind controls every freaking body to bring nothing but misery," Lyla mumbled. "Even us."
"Exactly," Tory agreed. "Like Luke said. We might be psychics with the ability of mind control, but we're not immune to it. It wasn't your fault."
Lyla was more convinced, sighing, nodding. "Okay. But what if I unleashed a monster on the humans that live outside the gates of the school?"
"Still wouldn't be your fault," Luke answered. "And we're trying to clean up this mess."
Kaylin and Nicola walked in with articles.
"And we think that we found some things that could help, with Ric's help," Nicola explained. "Look, we've been searching for things outside the ordinary. Sandstorms, locusts, scorpions, and then all of a sudden, this attack that happened to Lindsey and Ryan? Tory, Luke, these are mini plagues." Lyla frowned. "That are not caused by you, Lyla."
"Feels like it," Lyla grumbled.
"Well, change that feeling, because you're starting to sound like 'I blame everything on myself' Nicola Salvatore-Mikaelson and Ariara Nata," Kaylin told her. "Don't sound like Nikki and Ariara, Lyla."
"Shut up, Kaylin," Nicola replied.
Kaylin smirked.
Lyla giggled lightly.
"See, there's that smile," Tory told her.
Lyla smiled, but frowned in confusion. "How did we not even notice that I was infected, too?"
"Because you're a kid," Luke answered. "And kids don't have a lot of inhibitions to begin with, especially one that is literally fearless like you, Lyla. Just like the song you sang at the talent show. You never are scared to hold yourself back or say what you want to say..."
"Or show the sass that you wanna show," Kaylin finished, smirking smugly. "Pretty sure she got that from growing up around me."
Tory gave her an amused look. "Yeah, thanks for that, Kaylin."
Kaylin smirked smugly.
Lyla shrugged. "Makes sense, I guess."
"What about the urn?" Nicola asked.
Luke sighed. "The river must've swept the urn downstream. And these plagues are a harbinger for whatever monster that is coming for it."
"Mm-hmm," Nicola agreed. "Ric says he knows what it is, but he's not saying until he knows for sure."
Tory pointed to a map. "Now the urn is here. It's a man made reservoir. A dam."
Kaylin nodded. "Which would have trapped the urn."
"Exactly," Luke agreed.
"So pack up your family, Kaylin," Tory told her. "You're going on a road trip."
"What about you guys?" Nicola asked.
"Well, Ariara, Luke, Lindsey, Ryan, Emma, Danny, Lyla and I are gonna be helping Kaleb with controlling his urge to feed on whoever he wants, whenever he wants," Tory answered.
"Yeah, Lindsey and Ryan give the students a choice on what to feed on, be it human or animal blood, but that's why we have blood bags of both in the fridge," Luke told them. "So me, Lindsey, Ryan, Tory, Emma, Danny, Lyla and Ariara are gonna try and help Kaleb, so we can't have a repeat of what went down with Kaleb and Matt before. Matt still pisses me off about that whole situation."
"Matt pisses you off just by being a dick to me, Kacie and Lyla," Tory replied.
Kaylin and Nicola smirked in amusement. Lyla looked down.
"True," Luke agreed. "He just pissed me off more that day. Us Davis-Thompsons and Miss Ariara Nata have a big day today even if we stay behind."
"Yeah, Ariara's upset lately because of the anniversary of the other Natas dying is coming up soon," Tory explained. "So we figured that if Ariara's helping us, at least she's distracted, and she won't have a high chance of losing control. She's been doing so good, we don't want that to be effected."
Kaylin and Nicola understood perfectly, sympathetic.
"Why are you waiting so long to help Kaleb?" Kaylin asked.
"Well, we kept offering Kaleb our help ever since that day, but now he's finally ready to accept our help," Lyla answered. "Earlier, he wasn't."
Kaylin and Nicola nodded in understanding.
"But if you need backup..." Luke trailed off.
"Don't worry about it," Kaylin told them. "I'm sure that Emma and Danny need a break from everything, from Rosa in their heads and making Emma wanna tap into dark magic and bombarding Danny with visions and loses of control. And you're right, Ariara needs to be distracted from the anniversary of the other Natas dying. Helping you guys could help with that, and make sure that she doesn't have a relapse of control. And Lindsey and Ryan deserve a break too." She looked at Lyla teasingly. "And so do Tory and Luke. They've all been working hard, Lyla. You Davis-Thompsons deserve a couple days off."
"It's true," Nicola agreed. "I mean, a lot of us had a lot of fun lately because of the mind control slugs, no inhibitions thing, even if I lost control to the Huntress, lucky that I didn't kill anyone, not even Kaylin and Ariara after that brutal battle, thanks to Hope, Danny, Rae, Tory and Lyla. All of us deserve a break, but sadly can't get it lately. Kaylin, Rae, Hope, Madison and I can go on the trip. If we need backup, we can talk to Ric, Lizzie and Josie. Tory, Luke, if you, Lindsey and Ryan want to stay back here with Danny, Emma, Lyla and Ariara and try and help Kaleb, I think that's a good thing, since the Huntress mentioned wanting to kill Kaleb and MG when she came out during the mind control slug thing, since Kaleb feeds on whoever and whenever, and MG's a potential Ripper, like me, Stefan and Alex." They nodded in understanding. "So I definitely think it's a good idea to work with them, one at a time. I can try and help MG again when I get back, you know, Ripper to Ripper. We've been doing that for a while, but not as long as I would like."
"Good idea," Lyla told her.
"Yeah," Nicola agreed. "So you Davis-Thompsons and Nata do what you got to do. Don't worry about it. We got the urn mission covered."
They nodded in agreement.
"Don't worry," Tory told them. "Us Davis-Thompsons and Nata have it covered here."
"But if you're gonna go to some Podunk town, you can't roll up in that slick ass Salvatore bus," Luke pointed out. "You got to stay low key."
Nicola nodded. "We're one step ahead of you. Ric's handling our ride."
Kaylin rolled her eyes, annoyed. "And I still don't get to drive my Aston Martin Vanquish."
"Get used to it, Kaylin," Tory told her in amusement.
Lyla smiled, giggling.
-
Hallway
Ariara, Emma and Danny were talking with Kaleb.
"You want to do this now?" Kaleb asked.
"Sure," Ariara answered. "It'll be fun."
Kaleb tilted his head, knowing that Ariara was lying, just trying to get him to agree.
Emma gave Kaleb a look. "You're the one who didn't want to go home for spring break."
"That's 'cause my family's crazy, guys," Kaleb told them. "It's the same thing every year. Barbecue, a game of spades, and then my uncle's throwing hands."
"You're really talking about crazy families?" Danny asked. "Davis-Thompsons can be pretty crazy, if you ask me. Mom, Dad, me, Emma, Aunt Tory, Uncle Luke, Lyla. Ariara too, since she's a tribrid of animal creatures from the Nata kingdom. Not Salvatore-Mikaelson-Forbes-Fell-Lockwood-Labonair level crazy, but pretty close, especially since Aunt Tory and Lyla are both Lockwoods too, like Aunt Kacie. Kaylin always said that we could be a little wicked like her, Hope, Rae, Nicola, Madison, Eliza, Kacie, Mikayla, Klaus, Elijah, Kassandra, Rebekah, Kol and Freya, and don't forget, our half brother Nick is part of that family too, so we're tied to it by a lot. Hayley and Riley Grey, Marcel Gerard, Noah and Caitlin Dumaine, Auria Rayvnne, Lucien Castle. We're literally called the Frankenstein Family. Plus with Stefan, Damon, Alex, Elena, Liv and Cristian. Even Hunters."
"Yeah, I didn't know half of that, but that's pretty dope," Kaleb told them. "You're right, Danny, your family's crazier than mine minus the barbecue. Do you think I want to trade my family drama for yours?"
"I think you want unsupervised time to feed on humans," Emma answered.
That brought Kaleb to a stop. He sighed, nodding. "Okay, so now we get to the real. Look, Lindsey, Ryan, Tory and Luke have been offering to help me since the whole Tory's cousin sheriff incident, and I apologized for trying to kill him."
Danny nodded, a bit sarcastic. "Apologizing for trying to kill the cousin to Aunt Tory, second cousin to our cousin Lyla, when they and Uncle Luke had to stop you."
"Danny..." Kaleb trailed off.
"Look, don't worry about that right now, okay?" Danny asked. "If Frankenstein Family held grudges against everyone that has hurt us or hurt people close to us, mind control or not, we wouldn't even be a family. We would be freaking enemies to the end of time."
Emma tilted her head. "True."
Ariara smirked. "I've only been in 'Frankenstein Family' for two years, but even I know that."
Kaleb couldn't help but chuckle, looking at Emma and Ariara. "You two don't trust me very much, do you?"
"Right now?" Emma asked. "Not as far as I can throw you. Or as Ariara can throw you, because she can throw pretty far."
Ariara nodded in agreement. "But we can change that. You're the one that accepted the help from Lindsey, Ryan, Tory and Luke, Kaleb."
"Yeah, I did, to get them off my back," Kaleb agreed.
"And we're just trying to make sure that nothing like what happened before happens again," Danny pointed out. "And this can help us make sure that it doesn't. Don't you want that?"
"Sure I do," Kaleb agreed. "I just... What about MG? Kaylin, Nicola and Madison were tripping about how he's a Ripper, too."
"When Kaylin, Nicola, Hope, Rae, Madison, Alaric, Josie and Lizzie get back from their road trip, Nikki will be here to help him again, like she's been helping MG ever since that... incident," Emma answered. "Right now, this is about helping you."
Kaleb considered this. "Look, I do this, all you get off my back?"
Emma nodded, giving a sarcastic smile. "Nothing would make us happier."
"Besides, I'm sorta friends with you and MG, right, Kaleb?" Danny asked.
Kaleb smirked, nodding. "Yeah, sorta."
"So, as your friend, let me help you," Danny told him.
Kaleb nodded in agreement. "All right. Whatever."

Gym
(Song) Please Set Me On Fire - Estelle
Danny and Rae were sparring, having a goodbye moment before Rae had to leave for the road trip.
"Getting tired yet, Rae?" Danny asked.
Rae dove aside just in time to avoid Danny's lunge, turning them in a circle, lightly patting him on the back. "You should watch what you say, Danny. Couple of weeks ago, you'd already have me on my ass. Looks like someone's losing their edge, or I'm just getting better than you."
Danny gave Rae an amused, competitive look. Rae smiled, beckoning for Danny to bring it on, neither of them wanting to go down without a fight. Rae tried to punch him.
Danny dodged easily, as both looked at each other with a smirk. "So you, Kaylin, Nikki, Madison, Hope, going with Ric, Lizzie and Josie."
"Yeah," Rae agreed. "Madison's idea to bring Ric, Lizzie and Josie, since you'd be too busy here, with Emma, Lindsey, Ryan, Tory, Luke, Lyla and Ariara. Yeah, Mom and Aunt Nikki told me, Hope and Madison all about the Davis-Thompson/Nata mission to help Kaleb, about how when we get back, Aunt Nikki will go back to helping MG."
Rae tried to kick him. Danny caught her leg, grabbing her ankle, flipping her back. Rae rolled into a somersault to get to her feet, standing, spinning to backhand punch Danny without missing a beat. Danny caught her arm the next time she swung, twisting Rae's arm behind her back, managing to get her into a restraint from behind, as the two relaxed in each other's arms for a moment, looking at each other from over Rae's shoulder, breathing heavily in excitement, both smirking slightly.
"You think you guys will be okay here while we go on the mission?" Rae asked.
"Yeah," Danny answered. "It's not the first time that we've separated in missions, right?"
Rae smirked, shaking her head. "Nope."
"Do you think you'll be okay, if Aunt Tory and Lyla aren't there to help you?" Danny asked. "I mean, with Rosalita..."
"I know what you meant," Rae answered. "And Rosalita didn't even act when I was being affected by the mind control slugs. She could have broken out, but she didn't. And that makes me nervous, of course it does. Because it means that whatever she's planning, she still has to be inside me a little bit longer. So I don't think that she'll be trying to make me lose control or break out."
Danny nodded. "All right."
Rae twisted free from his hold, trying to flip Danny to the ground. Danny landed on his feet, spinning around to grab Rae from behind, and flipping them over the floor, to pin her while he knelt above, winning the round. They both smiled, laughing lightly.
"You're gonna have to let me up some time," Rae told him. "We've both got things to do."
Danny smirked, shaking his head teasingly. "Ruin the fun, why don't you?"
Rae laughed. "And you never cease to make me laugh. Thank you."
Danny chuckled, brushing back some of her hair. Rae and Danny met gazes for a moment, kissing slowly but passionately, pulling away. Danny stood, still holding Rae's arms as he pulled her up with him.

Hallway
Madison walked downstairs with a bag over her shoulder.
Owen walked down the hallway toward Madison. "Hey, Madison."
Madison turned to face him, smiling. "Owen. Came to say goodbye before I left?"
"Yeah," Owen answered.
"I'm sorry about taking off like this," Madison told him.
"No, it's okay," Owen assured. "You girls and Alaric have a mission today, and I get it. Not all of us can go. You, Kaylin, Nicola, Hope and Rae are always on a mission, most of the time with the Davis-Thompsons and the animal princess Nata. But Tory, Luke, Lindsey, Ryan, Emma, Danny, Lyla and Ariara are gonna be helping Kaleb, and so you convinced Ric, Josie and Lizzie to go with you guys."
"Yep," Madison agreed. "Josie and Lizzie are always saying that they want me to spend more time with them, and Hope, Rae, Emma, Danny, Ariara, Josie and Lizzie all promised me that they would try and get along for my sake, if for nothing else. Ariara and Josie are friends, and everyone already loves Little Lyla, so at least that's one less problem for me to worry about. Tory, Luke, Lindsey and Ryan can handle Kaleb with their kids and Ariara, and me, Kaylin, Nicola, Rae and Hope can go with Alaric, Josie and Lizzie. There's a Davis-Thompson/Nata mission here, while we will handle the Salvatore-Fell-Mikaelson / Saltzman road trip mission. What about you?"
"I'll most likely just be hanging with Rafael and Landon," Owen answered. "See if there's anything else we can do."
Madison chuckled. "All right." They smiled, sharing a kiss. "Well, here's to wishing that things aren't completely boring here with most of the school gone for spring break."
"Here's wishing that you girls can save the day again," Owen replied. "Oh, wait, there's no need to wish for that, since I know that nothing can stop you Frankenstein Family. No one can stop Salvatore-Mikaelson-Fell-Forbes, not Klaus, Kassandra, Elijah, Rebekah, Kol, Freya, Hope, Kaylin, Nicola, Rae, you, Eliza, Stefan, Damon, Alex, Elena, or Lockwood-Labonairs like Kacie and Mikayla, or the Davis-Thompsons. Since you guys said that Lindsey, Tory, Luke, Ryan, Emma, Danny and Lyla could be a little wicked too. Or the Hunters like Liv and Cristian. Nothing can stop Ariara Nata, Marcel Gerard, Noah and Caitlin Dumaine, Lucien Castle either. I know that Hayley and Riley Grey were just as fierce and determined, so may they rest in peace. Nothing can stop all of you."
Madison chuckled. "I wouldn't say 'nothing', but thanks for the vote of confidence. Really needed it." Owen and Madison kissed passionately, pulling away. Madison backed away, letting her hand slip out of his, smiling. "Bye."
"Bye," Owen replied.
Madison smiled, turning around, walking away.

Another Hallway
Rafael was standing at the bottom of the stairs.
Emma walked downstairs toward him. "Hey, Raf."
"Hey, Emma," Rafael greeted.
"How long you been waiting for me?" Emma asked.
"About an hour," Rafael answered. "I really wanted to talk to you, but I wasn't sure if I should interrupt."
"Why?" Emma asked.
"Well, I know that you, Danny and Ariara are trying to help Tory, Luke, Lindsey, Ryan and Lyla deal with Kaleb," Rafael answered. "And I know that Kaylin, Nicola, Rae, Hope, Madison, Dr. Saltzman, Josie and Lizzie are about to leave, so you guys have a lot going on, as usual."
"That's true," Emma agreed, crossing her arms, amused. "Now what's the real reason?"
Rafael smiled sheepishly. "Well, we haven't really defined this, um..."
"What, relationship?" Emma asked.
Rafael smiled. "So it is a relationship?"
"I'm not sure," Emma admitted. "I mean, we didn't get the chance to talk about our kiss before we got slugged with mind control, literally, and then the talent show. Your poem about me, living in darkness."
"Your song about how you would have a heart attack if you fell in love," Rafael replied.
Emma tilted her head. "Yeah, well, we can't really be certain on all of this just based on mind control slugs, right?"
"Right," Rafael agreed. "Absolutely not. I just--I wasn't sure about all this. I mean, I wanted this to be real, obviously. But we haven't had the official, like, 'hey, are we together?' talk, so I don't..."
Emma smiled, nodding. "Yeah, I know."
Emma kissed Rafael to settle his nerves causing the nervous rant to trail off. They looked at each other with small smiles.
"Good talk," Rafael told her.
"Great talk," Emma agreed. "There's an assembly that my parents want to give the school before everyone leaves, but that's in a couple minutes, so we still got some time."
Emma and Rafael smiled, before kissing again passionately.

On the Road - Van
(Song:) Animal - Neon Trees
An old van was driving down the road. Alaric was driving. Kaylin was in the passenger seat. Nicola, Rae and Hope were in the middle row. Josie, Lizzie and Madison were in the back row.
Kaylin sighed in boredom. "Ric, this van is very... old of you."
"It's retro," Alaric told her. "And not like you have a lot of room to talk, Kaylin. You were born in what year again?"
"Shut up," Kaylin replied. "I still look and feel and act young."
Nicola smirked. "Yeah, since she hasn't grown up at all in all the years she's lived."
The girls laughed. Kaylin smirked sarcastically.
"Whatever," Lizzie said. "This van is a gas-guzzling atrocity on wheels."
Hope handed out snacks. "I brought snacks."
"Oh, sweet," Madison said, reaching for the snacks.
"On yet another road trip to chase monsters," Rae stated. "Great."
Lizzie looked at Madison, Hope and Rae. "I would've thought you guys wanted to spend the break canoodling with your boyfriends."
"Danny's busy with helping Lindsey, Tory, Luke, Ryan, Emma, Ariara and Lyla with Kaleb," Rae told them. "We both have things to do."
"Owen's hanging out with Landon and Rafael," Madison agreed. "They need their own family time too."
Hope looked at Lizzie. "Sorry for wanting to protect the outside world from our mistakes. You know, there's currently an urn on a river cruise spreading plagues across America because Rae, Madison and I thought a unicorn was cute, and Ariara believed in the Nata kingdom legend about how it was bad luck to kill a unicorn. It's called accountability. Maybe there's a bracelet for it."
"Ooh," Rae said. "I may have Hellfire, but that was a bad burn too."
"Guys," Madison warned.
"I don't know why you invited us along, Maddie," Lizzie told her. "I mean, I know that you wanted to spend more time with us, but that could have been easier if you just came on our spring break instead of us coming on this one. Because Hope, Rae, Emma, Danny and Ariara have already ruined enough Saltzman spring breaks."
"When have we ever ruined a spring break?" Hope asked.
"Girls?" Nicola asked. "We're gonna be in this van for six hours, all right? So no bickering."
Kaylin sighed. "It would help if it wasn't a thousand degrees in here. We're burning up."
Kaylin turned on the AC to a colder degree.
Lizzie snickered. "Burning up." She looked at Rae and Hope. "Now that's ironic."
"If you're referencing to Rosalita and Hellfire, don't," Rae told her. "I get enough hell for that as it is from the rest of the school."
"That's not what I'm referencing," Lizzie answered. "Don't play dumb. I see you. I see right through you."
"I don't know what you're talking about," Hope told her. "What happened to playing nice?"
"Over, done," Lizzie answered. "I'm getting back to me. I am who I am."
"Lizzie, you promised," Madison told her. Lizzie sighed. Madison tried to get backup to stop the bickering. "Josie?" Josie was listening to earbuds. Madison nudged her. "Josie?"
Josie took out one earbud. "Sorry?"
"Josie, please help me keep the peace," Madison told her. "I can't stop Lizzie from being her and attacking Hope and Rae, and stop them from retaliating if she goes too far, by myself."
"Well, I get car sick if I don't listen to music," Josie told them.
"Josie!" Lizzie complained, nudging Josie, starting an overlapping argument between the girls.
Alaric tried to stop them. "Girls. Girls? Girls! There's no reason to be tense or awkward, okay? Now knock it off. We're gonna get through this together, God help us all."
Kaylin nodded, looking out the window. "Woot. Road trip."
Nicola sighed. "Great."

Salvatore Boarding School - Gym
Kaleb, Ariara and the Davis-Thompsons were here again.
"All right, I agreed to let you guys help," Kaleb told them. "What are we gonna do?"
"That depends on you," Luke told him.
"We have to make sure that no else gets hurt, Kaleb," Tory told him. "You included. Or other people around you."
"Listen, Tory..." Kaleb trailed off, sighing.
"Look, we're not blaming you for what went down with Matt," Lindsey told him. "You were high on blood, we locked you up to dry you out."
"So it was all part of a plan to get me settled down so you could help me," Kaleb stated. "Got it."
"We're giving you the chance to choose how you survive, without getting other people, or you, hurt," Ryan told him.
"Listen, every day that you cut yourself off from your friends, what you missed from being human, it'll make it that much harder for you to hold on to your humanity," Luke told him. "Which, trust me, a no-humanity vampire is a death wish."
"We are doing everything we can to help you and at least trusting the fact that you can keep it together," Danny pointed out. "We're doing this for you, Kaleb."
"All right," Kaleb agreed, sighing, nodding. "I'm listening."
"For once," Emma remarked.
"Oh, says the girl that nearly went dark in black magic and nearly killed Owen Church and Landon Kirby," Kaleb replied.
"That was because of mind control," Emma replied. "You don't have that excuse."
"We can help you, you know," Ariara told him. "With control, with whatever anger you feel."
"What makes you think I feel anger?" Kaleb asked.
Lyla scoffed, crossing her arms. "Please. Mind reader here, and you have anger pouring through your thoughts."
Kaleb chuckled, nodding. "All right, Little Lyla's here to spew facts as always."
"Even the facts that you might not like," Lyla agreed.
"Feisty little girl," Kaleb remarked.
Luke smirked. "You have no idea."
"So, what, you want me to eat bunnies?" Kaleb asked. "'Cause no way in hell I'm doing that."
"No," Tory answered. "Luke and I don't drink from animals. Neither do Kaylin and Nicola. Nicola, as a vampire Huntress, drinks only the blood from vampires, that me, Kaylin and Luke donate so that she doesn't over feed and get out of control, but she's satiated. So are we."
"Feeding from blood bags is not a bad thing, Kaleb," Ryan told him. "It can help you keep control."
"But, Kaleb, if you're not serious about all this, I think you should tell us," Lindsey told him.
"No, he is," Danny told them. "Right, Kaleb? Just making sure."
"Yeah, I'm all in, if it gets you guys off my back, and if..." Kaleb trailed off, sighing. "If it stops me from doing something worse."
"So you actually admit that you need our help?" Emma asked.
Kaleb scoffed. "As a human, I never admitted I needed help, that's not gonna change now. But..."
"Yeah, that's not surprising," Luke told him. "As a vampire, all of your personality traits and emotions from when you were a human, all of that gets magnified."
Kaleb was joking around. "Oh, I see. You guys are playing the 'we're older, so we know better game', but thing is, if you don't start making it interesting, I'm going to play the walk away."
"Then I can play the mind control you into cell game, and that one is much funner," Lyla replied.
Kaleb nodded sarcastically. "You just should throw me into a river. You're good at that, Little Lyla."
Lyla stood like she would do something. Tory held out a hand to stop her.
"Okay, so unless you wanna end up on the bad side of a psychic tribrid, you're gonna have to put your last remaining brain cells into working with us here, Kaleb," Emma pointed out.
"Gonna use some dark magic for that, Emma?" Kaleb asked.
"Okay, easy, Dracula," Ariara told him.
"Snake me, lost princess," Kaleb replied.
"You know what, Kaleb?" Danny asked.
"Okay, enough with the sassy teen--" Luke started. Lyla cleared her throat. "And sassy child sass off."
Lindsey, Ryan, Luke and Tory smirked in amusement. Kaleb, Lyla, Emma, Danny and Ariara were clearly just sassing off because it was fun, not to pick a fight.
"As we were saying, it gets very confusing and complicated for all of these things, and all situations, but we can help control that," Tory pointed out.
"And we're not controlling how you eat and making you feed on animals, because we don't do that to the students," Ryan told him. "Kaylin, Nicola, Tory and Luke don't, so you don't have to either, Kaleb."
"We just want to make sure that no one else gets hurt," Lindsey told him. "Including you."
Kaleb nodded. "All right, I get it, and you guys have my respect for that. Like mad respect. No one's really put that much effort into helping me, ever."
"Well, you have a group of people that will now," Danny told him.
They smiled.
"We can help out with the anger," Ariara pointed out. "You can train here with Danny, Owen, Landon, Rafael, MG. Training is always a good release."
"And the adults can help you with your hunger and feeding issues," Emma added.
"You tried to kill second cousin Matt," Lyla told him. "But he was being mean to my family. And you were stopped. And you apologized."
Kaleb nodded. "Yeah, sorry about that, Lyla."
"It's okay, if you just let them help you," Lyla told him. "I did something bad last night, too. Like you said, I threw the urn into the river."
"That was because of mind control, Lyla," Emma told her. "You can't blame yourself for that."
"I'm just saying," Lyla told them. "We all did bad things. But we can all make up for them and be better, right?"
"That's right," Tory answered. "All of us have before. And so can you, Kaleb."
Kaleb nodded in agreement, sighing. "All right. What do we do first?"
The Davis-Thompsons and Ariara smiled a bit.

Road Trip Montage
(Song:) Fancy - Iggy Azalea feat. Charli XCX
Kaylin was rapping along to the song playing on the radio. "First things first, I'm the realest, realest / Drop this and let the whole world feel it / Let 'em feel it / And I'm still in the murder business / I can hold you down like I'm giving lessons in physics / You should want a bad bitch like this."
Rae put a hand to her head. "I'm boiling."
"I'm freezing," Hope told them.
Josie pulled out her headphones. "I'm starving."
Kaylin continued with the rap along as she turned the AC higher. "Drop it low and pick it up / Just like this / Yeah / Cup of Ace, cup of Goose, cup of Cris."
Lizzie looked out the window, giving Madison a light punch on the arm. "Punch buggy."
Kaylin continued. "High heels, something worth a half a ticket on my wrist / Taking all the liquor straight, never chase that / Rooftop like we bringing 88 back / Bring the hooks in, where the bass at? / Champagne spilling, you should chase that."
Nicola was hanging out food while Kaylin was still rapping. "Okay, sandwiches."
There was a lot of overlapping chatter about the food.
Kaylin and Rae both sang the chorus. "I'm so fancy / You already know / I'm in the fast lane / From LA to Tokyo."
Madison joined in on the singing with Kaylin and Rae. "I'm so fancy / Can't you taste this gold? / Remember my name / About to blow..."
Alaric tried to sing something else. "99 bottles of beer on the wall / 99 bottles of beer."
Kaylin gave Alaric a look. "What the hell is that? Don't try to change this."
The girls laughed. Nicola smirked.
Josie looked sick. "I think I'm..."
Josie started to wretch in the back of the car, causing Lizzie and Madison to yell out in disgust as they tried to get away as much as they could. Kaylin, Nicola, Hope, Rae and Alaric turned to see what was wrong, but when they saw Josie getting sick, they quickly turned back to the front.
"Kaylin, why are you still rapping?" Alaric asked.
"Because it's helping your daughter," Kaylin answered. "Distracting her and stopping her from getting sick because she said that music helps. So shut up, Ric." She went back to rapping. Nicola, Madison, Hope and Rae were not surprised that Kaylin was doing it to help Josie, but smiled. Josie and Lizzie were slightly surprised. Josie smiled thankfully. "I said baby, I do this / I thought that you knew this / Can't stand no haters and honest, the truth is / And my flow retarded / They speak it, depart it / Swagger on super, I can't shop at no department / Better get my money on time / If they not money, decline / And swear I meant that there so much that they give that line a rewind / So get my money on time / If they not money, decline / I just can't worry about no haters / Gotta stay on my grind."
Josie was a lot more at ease now.
"Are we there yet?" Lizzie asked.
Kaylin continued. "Now tell me, who that, who that / That do that, do that / Put that paper over the all / I thought you knew that, knew that / I be the K-A-Y-L-I-N / Put my name in bold / I been working, I'm up in here with some change to throw."
Nicola was looking at the map. "So if we're going this way... Ric, you got us lost."
"I am not lost," Alaric denied.
(Song Ends)
They drove past a sign saying Maple Hollows 14 miles away.
Josie started to play on a ukulele, starting to sing along with Madison, Rae and Kaylin. "My heart brought a little song for you / So won't you take a listen and dance with me to the rhythm?"
Nicola and Hope smiled.
"Are we there yet?" Lizzie asked.
Alaric pulled them to a stop. "Yes!"

Maple Hollows, South Carolina
Bridge/Dam
Kaylin, Nicola and Alaric were standing outside the car, looking around at the dam and the river.
"You're sure this is the right spot?" Kaylin asked.
"Anywhere else would probably go all the way to the dam," Alaric told them. "Here, the river, it bends, slows, makes deposits. I'll find the urn, and we can be on our way."
Nicola sighed. "Okay. So Kaylin, Hope, Rae, Madison, Josie, Lizzie and I can split up, check out the town. We've got a fake gas leak story ready to go just in case there's another plague."
Alaric nodded in agreement. "Take care of my girls."
"We'll be taking care of all our girls," Kaylin assured.
"Be careful, okay?" Nicola asked.
"Yeah," Alaric answered. "Don't do anything reckless or stupid either."
"Don't tell us what to do," Kaylin replied.
Kaylin and Nicola gave small, sarcastic smiles, walking away.
-
Van
Kaylin was driving the van, with Nicola in the passenger seat, Hope, Rae and Madison in the second row, and Lizzie and Josie in the back row.
Kaylin looked around outside. "Welcome to Maple Hollows."
"Girls, you take the fountain area," Nicola told them. "See what you can find out. Kaylin and I will go the other way."
-
Outside
At the fountain area, Josie, Lizzie, Madison, Hope and Rae were asking around, meeting up.
Josie smiled. "Fun fact, this town as the biggest ball of yarn in the country. And nobody's seen anything strange."
"This isn't exactly a hotspot of activity," Lizzie told them, looking at Hope and Rae sarcastically. "Our hopes of finding anything are going up in smoke."
Rae read Lizzie's mind, scoffing. "Wait, are you seriously bringing up that fire in Emma and Ariara's dorm room two years ago? When Danny, Hope and I had been in the room with them, by the way."
"You mean the one that you five set on purpose to sabotage our spring break trip with Madison?" Lizzie asked. "No, Rae, why would I talk about that?"
"Dude, you've lost it," Hope told her.
"The only thing that we lost was a week of quality family time," Lizzie told them. "You two, Danny, Emma and Ariara just couldn't stand the thought of Maddie being away from you guys and Lyla for a week, could you? So you set the fire so that we wouldn't go and Maddie would still be there with you guys. So mission accomplished."
Madison sighed in annoyance. "Lizzie, I told you and Josie before that Emma, Danny, Hope, Rae and Ariara had nothing to do with that fire. It wasn't even Hellfire that started it, so you know that Rae didn't do it, on accident or on purpose."
"Yeah, so one of the others must have done it," Lizzie replied. "Hope, Emma and Danny could have used magic, Ariara could have struck a match."
"Which we didn't," Hope replied.
Josie looked guilty. "You guys are just talking about ancient history." She suddenly held her arm in pain. "Ow. Something stung me."
The girls saw the sting on Josie's arm, which had formed a boil, gasping. "Ew. Gross."
-
Street
Kaylin and Nicola walked down the sidewalk together.
"So you sure we should've left the girls alone?" Nicola asked. "I mean, Josie and Lizzie don't get along with Hope and Rae, or Emma and Danny, even though they've been trying to for Madison. Lizzie doesn't get along with Ariara either, though Ariara and Josie are friends, and they both love Little Lyla like everybody else does."
"Well, that's the point of leaving the girls alone," Kaylin told her. "That's the only way they're gonna work out all their issues. Whatever issues that Lizzie has with Rae, Hope, Emma, Danny and Ariara need to be handled, Josie's already close with Ariara, so no issue there, but she can get to play nice with Rae, Hope, Emma and Danny given the chance. Madison just needs a little help with getting them to get along, but luckily, we don't have to worry about Little Lyla, since everybody fell in love her."
Nicola smirked, nodding. "Mm-hmm."
Kaylin looked at her. "What?"
"You, just acting like a responsible, reasonable mother," Nicola answered. "Smart one that knows how to get the girls to work out their issues and get them to stop fighting. Never gonna get used to seeing that side of you."
"Bite me," Kaylin replied. They chuckled lightly until they came to a stop upon hearing something. "Hold up. I'm trying to hear something. Do you hear that?"
"Yeah," Nicola answered. "It's so faint. Maybe like a--a generator? On the edge of town? I don't know, but something's humming for sure. And it sounds like it's getting closer."
They saw that a swarm of bees were flying closer.
Kaylin watched in shock. "That's no generator. Run. Run. Run!"
Kaylin and Nicola ran to get to the van, and all of townspeople were running as well.
In the fountain area, Josie, Lizzie, Madison, Rae and Hope saw the swarm getting closer.
"This is plague-y, right?" Rae asked. "It seems plague-y."
"It's plague-y," Madison answered.
"Run!" Hope told them.
Josie, Lizzie, Madison, Rae and Hope ran for the nearest building to take cover in.
Kaylin and Nicola got to the van, getting inside, closing the door behind them.
The bees surrounded the van they were in, creating a blanket over the windows, blocking out the light.
Nicola looked at Kaylin. "Guess we're in the right place."
Kaylin gave her a sarcastic look. "You think?"

Salvatore Boarding House - Emma and Ariara's Dorm Room
(Song:) Someone You Loved - Lewis Capaldi
Ariara walked in to take a breather, looking upset since it was close to the anniversary of the death of her kingdom. She saw one of her crowns sitting on the desk, picking it up. After a moment, she put it back down, turning to one of the sketches she had made for her family and kingdom, looking at the sketch sadly. She touched the face of Acquilina, her mother, then Ahish, her father, then Acilino, her brother, and then Arlette, her sister. She remembered one of the good memories of her family back then.
-
Flashback
Kiesha'ra
Day - Fields
There was a slow pan over the kingdom, when it was still beautiful and not completely destroyed by the wars.
Acquilina: (voice over) "A long time ago, the kingdoms in this region were the best of neighbors. Until suddenly, they became the worst. So vast the discord between them, so much so that only a great leader could bring them together again. In these kingdoms lived any manner of strange and beautiful creatures such as your father and I... that could create such unique and wonderful creatures such as the three of you. Our children. Ariara, Arlette and Acilino Nata."
Ariara, Arlette and Acilino were standing on the top of a cliff next to a beautiful tree, all dressed in their royalty clothing.
"Come on," Arlette told them. "It's not every day that we can have a beautiful evening like this, where nothing is happening. We can fly in the sky without a worry in mind. Please, for me?"
"You are the youngest, Arlette," Acilino told her. "And by far, the most naive. But I do believe that we all do deserve the time to ourselves."
Ariara smiled, tilting her head. "Is that a yes, big brother? You're going to become king soon, since you are the oldest. We can celebrate this way, like we used to. Before the wars became worse."
Acilino shrugged. "Maybe. Why not? We could all use the chance to blow off some steam."
Arlette smiled. "Thank you. Let's make a race out of it."
Ariara, Arlette and Acilino all smiled, letting their eyes glow gold, eyes slit down the middle. Their nails were like eagle talons but also claws like a lion, as pure, golden eagle wings, shimmering and glowing with magical energy, started to grow from their backs, and their horns grew from their temples, fierce yet beautiful, but they didn't transform completely. They dove perfectly off of the cliff, starting to race flying beautifully in the sky, as the glowing shimmering magical energy soared around them as they flew, all having a blast, laughing happily, as Ariara and Arlette's gowns were flowing beautifully in the breeze.
Ariara saw a serpent from their kingdom down below. "Good morning, Santerelle. I love your cap."
The Nata siblings continued to fly through the sky, laughing, doing flips and spirals through the air.
-
Castle
Arlette, Ariara and Acilino arrived at the Nata castle, landing on a balcony. Their horns and wings returned to their bodies, and their talons/claws returned to nails.
Arlette smiled smugly at her older siblings. "Ha, I won."
"You wish, Arlette," Ariara told her.
Acquilina and Ahish were waiting for them.
Acquilina looked at her children in amusement. "Late to family supper again?"
"Sorry, mother," Arlette told her. "The day was just beautiful."
"We just had to stretch our wings, and Arlette was begging Acilino and I for a race," Ariara explained.
"I bet," Ahish told them, amused.
"Well, it was their idea," Acilino told them. "I was just making sure they didn't cause trouble."
"Hey," Arlette complained.
Ariara hit Acilino lightly on the shoulder. "Liar. You were having fun, too."
"But I'm telling the truth about it being Ariara and Arlette's idea," Acilino told their parents.
"No fighting," Ahish told them. "Come and sit."
"Sorry," the siblings spoke together, walking closer to the family, sitting down at the elegant table to begin eating.
"So we went down to the war council this morning," Acilino explained.
Acquilina gave her children a look. "You did what?"
"What?" Arlette asked innocently.
"We have talked about this," Ahish told them. "We don't want you three involved."
"Before we started our race, we saw another destroyed village," Ariara told them. "They're getting closer."
Acquilina sighed, clasping her hands. "Yes, we know. But we're handling it."
"We should be handling it like a family," Acilino told them. "Arlette, Ariara and I are of royal blood as well."
Acquilina took a deep breath, taking one of Ahish's hands. "Come on hold hands, all of you."
"Seriously?" Ahish asked.
"Ahish," Acquilina warned.
"Yes, Acquilina," Ahish agreed. "You heard her, hold hands."
Acilino, Ariara and Arlette chuckled, going along with it. Acilino held Ahish's other hand, taking Arlette's hand. Arlette used her other hand to hold Ariara's. Ariara used her other hand to hold Acquilina's.
"I know things are bad today, and that we have been at war for what feels like forever, for a reason no one knows, but it will get better," Acquilina told them.
Acilino nodded. "I know. I'll be king soon, so you two can't protect me from everything anymore."
"Me or Ariara, either," Arlette agreed.
"You shouldn't have to be a part of such things," Ahish told them.
"But we are," Ariara told them.
"Acilino, if anything happens to you, it won't you that will become king," Ahish told him. "Ariara, as the second oldest, would become queen."
"We know," Arlette told them sadly.
"We are going to be a part of this all of it, together," Ariara told them.
"As a family," Acilino agreed.
Arlette nodded. "Together. Always."
Ahish and Acquilina shared a look smiling small smiles. "Always."
Arlette stood. "Big embrace."
"Really?" Acilino complained.
Ariara smiled, standing. "Don't be such a child."
Acilino stood. "Excuse me?"
Acquilina stood. "Listen to your sisters. They are smarter."
Ahish smirked, standing. "Careful, his ego."
"Well, I'm the future king," Acilino pointed out.
Ariara smirked. "Heaven help us all."
Acilino gave Ariara an offended look. Ariara, Arlette, Acquilina and Ahish shared an embrace. Acilino crossed his arms. Arlette reached out to pull Acilino into the embrace, making him roll his eyes, though all five of the Natas smiled.
"Your heads are the ones I'll take first," Acilino told them jokingly. "Just letting you know."
The other Natas all laughed at this.

Day - Salvatore Boarding School - Emma and Ariara's Dorm Room
Ariara was still looking at her sketches, shedding a tear or two, but she wouldn't let herself cry. She took a deep breath, wiping the two tears away, standing, walking out of the dorm room, closing the door behind her.
-
Hallways
Ariara walked through the hallways at a quick pace, not looking back as she walked out of the school, closing the door behind her.

Van
Nicola and Kaylin were still in the van, looking outside at the bees and hornets surrounding the car and covering the windows.
"I saw Ryan and Ric researching hornets like this," Nicola told her. "They're from Africa, so they shouldn't even be on this continent."
Kaylin gave her a look. "Like I said before when we had the Necromancer in the dungeon. Ryan and Ric are turning you geekier by the moment, Nikki."
"Shut up, Kaylin," Nicola replied.
"What the hell are they doing here?" Kaylin asked.
"Well, Ryan and Ric may be turning me more geekier, but I do not know everything that they know, clearly," Nicola replied. "So don't ask me."
They all fell dead suddenly.
Kaylin was stunned. "Whoa, look. They all just... died."
A man in a yellow hazmat suit suddenly knocked on Kaylin's window, causing Kaylin and Nicola to look at him.
-
Outside
Hope, Rae, Madison, Lizzie and Josie walked outside once they knew that it was safe, stepping on dead hornets and bees as they did.
"We need to find Kaylin and Aunt Nikki," Hope told them, leading them down the sidewalk. "This way."
"Does this way take us past the fire station?" Lizzie asked snarkily.
Rae scoffed. "Oh, my God. We barely just survived a biblical plague. For the last time, I didn't start that fire, and neither did Ariara, Hope, Emma or Danny, so none of us have ever ruined a spring break for you two with Madison."
"Yeah, Lizzie, now's not the time," Josie told her.
"Second grade," Lizzie stated, looking at Rae. "You callously gave me the flu while we were building our float for witch week. With global warming, I may never see the Florida Keys. That's on you."
Rae nodded sarcastically. "I'm an immortal psychic, I can't get the flu. I only got sick because there was no evil dead souls for me to feed on to keep me alive, since that was before I had Rosalita inside me to feed on her soul for two years, plus with all the monsters that keep coming for the Malivore keys, we kill them, their souls automatically come to me, so either way, I'm good. And back in second grade, Aunt Kassandra started to kill evil beings so that I would never get sick like that again, but now she doesn't have to. Either way, I could not give that sickness to you because it was not contagious, otherwise Hope, Emma, Danny or Madison would have caught it, since that was when Lyla was a baby, and before Ariara got to the school."
"And you guys built that float with Alyssa Chang, who had pneumonia over spring break," Madison added. "It was her that got you sick. It wasn't Rae, Hope, Emma, Danny, and that was before Ariara was even at school, so you can't blame her, and Lyla was a baby. And none of them started that fire either."
Josie looked down at her arm. "Um, hey. Madison?"
Madison turned to face her. "Yeah?"
"There's a boil on my boil," Josie answered.
They all looked at Josie's arm.
"Oh, God!" Madison said.
"Ew!" Hope complained.
"I think I'm gonna be sick again," Josie told them.
"Pick up the pace, girls," Madison told them, walking to the street corner, followed by the other girls. "Josie needs..." They all stopped when they saw that a complete medical team had been organized, as men in hazmat suits were sweeping up the dead hornets and bees, while leading the stung townspeople to buses to help them. "Medical attention?"
-
FEMA Recovery Center
The buses had brought the townspeople to the recovery center, which was way too well prepared for a situation like this.
Kaylin, Nicola, Hope, Rae, Madison, Lizzie and Josie were in line.
"I don't get it," Hope admitted. "The locals that we met said that they hadn't seen anything, which means that the first sign of trouble happened after we got here."
"How did these people get here before the bugs?" Nicola asked.
Kaylin looked around. "I don't know who they are, but they are too prepared, organized and well-equipped to be responding to some random insect attack."
They reached a woman with a clipboard.
"You together?" the woman asked.
"Yeah," Nicola answered. "You know, we just came in from Roanoke to see that giant ball of yard you guys have."
"And these are..." the woman trailed off.
Kaylin pointed at Nicola. "I'm her cousin." Nicola rolled her eyes with a smirk at the old lie that the Salvatore siblings had used for the town of Mystic Falls when it came to Nicola. Kaylin looked at Hope and Rae. "Our other cousins." She looked at Madison, Lizzie and Josie. "And the other cousins."
"Our family has a lot of cousins," Nicola told her.
The woman nodded weirdly, jotting this down on her clipboard. The girls walked past.
Josie frowned. "Cousins?"
"Well, we can't say that Kaylin is Rae's mother and Hope's stepmother, or my step adoptive aunt, or that she's Nikki's great-great-great-great-great aunt, or Nikki is the aunt/niece to Rae, and step aunt to Hope, and me by adoption, because we all look the same age," Madison pointed out.
Josie shrugged. "True. Good point, Madison."
Clarke was walking through the tent they were in, seeing Kaylin, Nicola, Rae, Hope and Madison, recognizing them from 1.08. Hope saw him, remembering him as well.
-
Later
Hope, Rae, Madison, Kaylin and Nicola were standing together.
Hope was keeping an eye on Clarke. "Don't look, but that guy over there was outside of Seylah's house when we were in Kansas, with the fake gas leak." Madison looked. "I said don't look."
Madison looked away. "What's he doing here?"
"I don't know," Nicola admitted. "Probably the same thing we were. Trying to cover things up. There are groups like this scattered all over the globe. Probably tracking the same activity we were."
Kaylin looked outside to see men outside with weapons. "Awful lot of artillery, too. Guys, their gear."
They saw that they had scuba equipment.
"They're here for the urn," Rae told them.
Kaylin and Nicola realized who was in trouble. "Ric."
-
Riverside
Alaric had just got done scuba diving for the urn, holding it in his hand grabbing his gear to leave.
Triad men pulled up in cars, getting out.
Man 1 looked at the urn. "We'll take that."
Alaric looked over them. "Finders keepers."
All the men aimed their guns at Alaric.
"Now," Man 1 told him.
Before anything more could happen, a swarm of bugs came to attack, stinging the Triad men, making them scream.
Alaric backed away in shock.
Once all of the men were down and groaning in pain, the swarm flew away.
A mummy walked around the car, walking toward Alaric.
Alaric made a gesture. "I knew it."
The mummy growled at Alaric, walking closer. Alaric closed his eyes tightly. The mummy stood in front of Alaric, roaring in his face. Alaric opened his eyes. The mummy took the urn from him, walking away, leaving Alaric in shock.

Night - FEMA Recovery Center
Kaylin and Nicola were looking around.
"Listen we need to snag one of our phones back so we can call Ric," Nicola told her.
Before they could, Clarke walked up to Kaylin and Nicola. "Hi, there."
"Hello," Kaylin told him.
"I'm Deputy Agent Clarke," Clarke explained. "I apologize for the inconvenience. I see you're from Richmond?"
"Uh, Roanoake," Nicola told him.
"I'm just checking in with everyone," Clarke told them. "Sooner we get everyone proper medical attention, sooner you can go see that giant ball of yarn."
Hope, Rae, Madison, Lizzie and Josie were watching from where they were sitting across the tent.
Kaylin laughed sarcastically. "Well, we, uh, don't need any attention, but thanks."
Clarke looked at his clipboard, testing them. "So you came in from Raleigh on a road trip with your cousins?"
"Roanoake," Nicola corrected again, sticking with their story.
"Roanoake," Clarke repeated. "Sorry. You ever been to Kansas?"
Kaylin and Nicola exchanged a look, sighing in annoyance.
The girls were still watching.
"Hey, who is that guy?" Josie asked.
"This creep we met in Kansas when you guys were in Europe," Hope answered.
"Why were you in Kansas?" Lizzie asked. "Oh, wait, let me guess, it involved you insinuating yourselves into a situation where only Frankenstein Family members could be the hero."
"As a matter of fact, yeah," Rae answered.
"We were trying to save Owen and Landon, so chill," Madison told them.
"All right, fine," Lizzie agreed. "But Hope, Rae, Emma, Danny and Ariara will still do anything to get attention."
Rae scoffed. "Said the narcissist."
"Said the... other narcissist," Lizzie replied.
"Okay, guys, can we please just stop?" Josie asked. "We promised Madison to get along."
"Madison, Rae, Emma, Danny, Ariara and I have spent two years trying to avoid any kind of attention," Hope pointed out. "Ariara was new to the school, maybe been there for, what, a couple weeks, a month at the most? She lost half of her stuff in that fire. Emma lost some of her stuff, too. Danny, Rae, Emma, and I stopped the fire as much as we could, but the fire came out of nowhere and it was fast and huge. Ariara... she was heartbroken because she lost some of the things that she brought from her kingdom that she could never get back, and that was so soon after Aunt Kacie and Aunt Mikayla found her and saved her and brought her back. She lost control that day because of how much it hurt her to lose more after."
Josie looked down sadly, guiltily.
"Why would Hope, Danny, Emma and I do that to Ariara?" Rae asked. "Why would Ariara do it to herself?"
Lizzie looked stunned, like she hadn't thought about it like that. She looked down, upset.
Madison looked sympathetic and upset as well.
They looked toward where Kaylin and Nicola were still talking with Clarke.
"So, if there's nothing else..." Kaylin trailed off.
"Actually, uh, I was hoping we could talk privately," Clarke told them. "You and your cousins, uh... or was it friends? That's what you said back in Kansas, right?"
Kaylin was getting annoyed, looking around, knowing she couldn't do anything in public like this.
"You better shut up before Kaylin here, she loses it," Nicola told him. "We're in public, but that won't stop her for long." Kaylin nodded. "I don't think we have anything more to discuss."
"I could think of a few things," Clarke told them. "Mystic Falls, maybe? Or perhaps your school for supernatural children."
Kaylin and Nicola glared at him.
-
Outside
Lizzie and Josie were reuniting with Alaric after he had come back. "Dad!"
Alaric embraced his daughters. "It's okay, girls. I'm okay. Where are Kaylin, Nicola, Rae, Hope and Madison?"
"Yeah, about that..." Josie trailed off. "Things got complicated."
Lizzie pointed to where Madison, Rae, Hope, Kaylin and Nicola were talking with Clarke.
Clarke showed them a Triad card. "I work for an organization that keeps monsters and things that go bump in the night from public view. I thought I recognized you two and your friends, or cousins..."
"Kaylin's Rae's mother, and my stepmother, actually," Hope told him. "Nikki's our aunt. Madison's our adoptive cousin."
"I wasn't sure if it was a coincidence, so we searched your van," Clarke explained. "We know you are Kaylin and Nicola Salvatore-Mikaelson. You're pretty renowned throughout the world of supernaturals. The Huntress Ripper and the Queen of Torture, or Queen of Chicago. You have interesting reputations, to put it lightly. We know a lot about it and your school. The one ran by Lindsey Davis-Thompson and her husband Ryan Thompson. With the help of the others in their family. Tory, Luke, the children Emma, Danny and Lyla. Lindsey, Ryan, Tory and Luke have a reputation themselves, not as spotty as the two of yours, but..."
"Okay, you might know about us because of our, uh, 'reputations' are renowned, but leave the Davis-Thompsons and the school out of this," Nicola told him.
"Look, I applaud your school's mission," Clarke told them. "If you do your job right, makes mine easier."
"So why are we still here?" Kaylin asked.
"Well, I have an entire town that needs to forget what they've seen today," Clarke answered. "You know, usually it's convincing a farmer in Nebraska he didn't see a chimera, you know, or a few ice fisherman in Minnesota that it wasn't a yeti that ate their best friend. This is an entire town. It's different. We could use the assistance of a couple of vampires, or a psychic immortal." Rae raised her eyebrows. "We know about you, too, Rae. And Hope, Ariara Nata, Madison Fell-Mikaelson... a lot more."
"Of course you do," Rae told him sarcastically.
"Why not call it a freak swarm of bugs?" Madison asked. "Why erase it from memory?"
"Because someone may recognize them for what they are," Clarke answered. "Harbingers."
"Of what?" Hope asked.
Alaric, Lizzie and Josie walked up to them.
"A mummy," Alaric answered. "I saw it. It took the urn."
"Oh, great," Kaylin said sarcastically. "As if we didn't have enough to worry about."
"I survived an attack by the river," Alaric explained. "Had to come warn you guys."
"A driver survived that attack as well," Clarke told them. "He's been tracking the mummy ever since. He's still on the outskirts of town, but he's heading our direction. We're a cleanup organization. Okay, we're not equipped to go to battle with a mummy. So... will you help? Cut him off at the pass and keep all these people safe?"
"Oh, these are kids," Nicola told him.
"Kids with magic," Clarke replied. "In a town full of innocents without it."
"We'd be happy to help," Madison told him.
Nicola sighed. "I'm gonna need my sword."
Clarke chuckled. "Of course. Gather what you need. My team can help you with anything else."
Rae was hearing whispering in her head, a little off balance, as she seemed to be in a bit of a daze. Clarke looked at her knowingly before walking away.
Alaric, Josie and Lizzie walked away to the van to get what they needed.
Hope turned to face Kaylin, Nicola, Rae and Madison. "Okay, I know you don't remember our trip to Kansas clearly, but that field that we woke up in in Georgia, that's where the portal to Malivore is. It's hidden in plain sight by a company called Triad."
Kaylin looked at the card that Clarke had given them, holding it up to show them that it was a Triad card. "Look familiar?"
Kaylin, Nicola, Rae, Hope and Madison exchanged a serious look.
-~-
Alaric was showing Kaylin and Nicola a map. "The mummy got the urn here. Now, if it's like every other monster, it's objective is to take the artifact to Malivore. Route 21 cuts through the center of town and winds all the way to the interstate. As the crow flies, this is the straightest route. So it's gonna be coming this way, no questions."
Kaylin scoffed. "Maybe we should just let him have the urn. Make this be someone else's problem."
"And be responsible for two-thirds of the monster apocalypse?" Nicola asked skeptically.
Kaylin tilted her head back, complaining. "Damn accountability. Damn conscience."
"Kaylin, focus," Nicola told her. "The girls need us."
Kaylin tilted her head. "Eh, after a crash course in some offensive magic, and with Rae's Hellfire, we may need them more."
"Yeah," Alaric agreed.
"Some spring break, huh?" Kaylin asked sarcastically.
Nicola chuckled.
-
Van
Rae, Hope, Madison, Josie and Lizzie were sitting around outside the van.
"So let me get this straight," Josie told them. "Clarke's talking like he's protecting innocents, but his office actually sits on top of the portal to hell?"
"Not hell specifically," Rae answered. "Hell adjacent. It's a tar pit of doom where monsters rot for all eternity."
"Uh-huh," Lizzie said. "And if the urn gets to Malivore, what happens? The adjacent apocalypse?"
"Two of the three locks that keep Malivore sealed will be open, which will lead to the end of all supernatural beings," Madison answered.
"So we can't let the mummy get the urn, we can't let Agent Clarke's phony hazmat guys get the urn, and if we get the urn, then we're just bringing monsters back to the school with us," Hope told them.
"Yeah," Rae agreed. "It is kind of a lose-lose. So I got to wipe the minds of everyone in town, but being a powerful psychic, that shouldn't take long at all. Then we're open for business to taking own the mummy. We can take this bitch down together."
"Good idea, Satan," Lizzie told her. "But to be clear, you can't have my immortal soul to feed on."
Rae smirked sarcastically, blowing a mocking kiss, causing the other girls to smirk. Rae stood, walking toward the townspeople so that she could use mind control on all of them at the same time to make them forget the bug swarm.
Kaylin found the woman that had checked them in earlier, walking up to her. "You know what a fall guy is?"
"You mean like a scapegoat?" the woman asked.
Kaylin shrugged. "You know what? Let's not even get caught up in the wording, 'cause whatever you want to call it, you are a prime candidate." She compelled her. "Follow my instructions exactly."
-
Street
Kaylin, Nicola, Rae, Hope, Madison, Lizzie, Josie and Alaric were walking down the street. Nicola was holding her sword, while Alaric was holding a crossbow.
"Some people find it helps to clear their conscience before heading into battle," Lizzie told them.
"Not stopping you," Hope replied.
"Now is not the time," Madison warned.
"It's always time for truth," Lizzie disagreed. "Hope, Rae, last chance. If you two, Emma, Danny and Ariara didn't start that fire to keep Maddie from going with us, then why were you all so mean to me after? I'll tell you why, because you were guilty."
"Girls!" Nicola chided. "Quiet back there, please. Seriously."
Rae looked at Lizzie. "We weren't mean to you. You were mean to us."
"Just because you didn't want Lyla, Hope, Rae, Emma, Danny and Ariara to take Madison away from us," Josie told her.
"That was not the only reason why," Lizzie disagreed. "They were telling people about my episode."
"Your what?" Hope asked.
"My episode," Lizzie answered. "The one I had when our trip got cancelled. You guys told everyone that I was witch bipolar."
"We would never do that," Rae told her.
"Girls, seriously," Kaylin told them. "What is the point in even talking about--"
Lizzie looked at Hope and Rae. "Just drop the act. I had my first... occurrence, my mom took me away to get help, and you guys decided to use it against me."
Kaylin, Nicola and Alaric exchanged a look.
Nicola turned around, looking down the street. "Guys."
Hope looked at Lizzie. "We didn't even know."
"I swear, they would never do that," Madison told her. "I told you before that they didn't. If you don't believe them, at least believe me."
"Guys!" Nicola told them.
Kaylin, Alaric, Hope, Rae, Madison, Josie and Lizzie looked at Nicola. "What?"
Nicola nodded down the street. "There's a mummy on Main Street."
They all turned to follow her gaze, seeing the mummy down the road. Kaylin, Nicola and Alaric stood in front of Rae, Hope, Madison, Lizzie and Josie. Nicola raised her sword, Alaric raised his crossbow.
"So, what, do we, like, rush it?" Madison asked.
"It's seven feet tall," Alaric told them. "We hold our ground until it's close enough to attack." Kaylin opened her mouth to speak. "And no, Kaylin, a vampire is not gonna be able to kill a mummy because that scarab is protecting it from actual death."
Kaylin shrugged. "All right, fine."
"Dad, Kaylin, Nicola, get behind us," Josie told them.
"We can't do that," Nicola told them.
"Aunt Nikki," Rae told her.
"We have to protect you, all of you," Alaric told them.
"No offense, Dr. Saltzman, but you and your crossbow, Kaylin, Aunt Nikki and her sword are kind of spread in front of three powerful witches, a Banshee and a powerful psychic," Hope told him.
Kaylin looked back at the girls. "Okay, good point."
Kaylin, Nicola and Alaric walked around the girls to stand behind them.
"Okay, what can a mummy do to hurt us?" Madison asked.
"I think we're about to find out," Rae told them.
The mummy got closer, opening its mouth to release a swarm of hornets toward the group.
Josie, Hope and Lizzie held hands, as Josie and Lizzie's hands glowed red as they siphoned from Hope, and the three girls cast a spell together. "Bulla."
The spell created a protective shield in front of them, keeping the hornets away.
"Nice teamwork," Alaric complimented.
"Should we rush it now?" Lizzie asked.
Nicola shook her head. "Not yet."
The mummy walked closer.
"Now?" Lizzie asked.
"No," Hope answered.
"I really, really think that we should rush it," Lizzie told them.
"Wait," Rae told them. "On three. One, two..."
The mummy locked gazes with Josie, Hope and Lizzie as they tried to do a spell, raising its hand. Josie, Hope and Lizzie started to cough.
"What's happening?" Madison asked.
The three girls started to cough up black bugs.
Lizzie was horrified, gasping. "Oh, my God. Oh, my God."
Madison turned toward the mummy, letting her eyes glow silver as she released a scream at the mummy to send energy waves that threw him back, hoping to release the girls from its power.
Rae's eyes and veins glowed with Hellfire as she formed Hellfire in her hands, thrusting it toward the mummy, burning it to ash, causing the urn and the scarab, both unharmed to fall onto the ash.
Kaylin, Nicola and Alaric ran to help Josie, Hope and Lizzie up to their feet.
As the silver glow faded from her eyes, Madison was annoyed. "Worst spring break ever."

FEMA Recovery Center - Outside
Kaylin, Nicola and Clarke were watching people go onto the buses to take them home.
"I appreciate the cooperation," Clarke told them.
Kaylin nodded sarcastically. "Hope we never have to see each other again."
"And I hope I never get assigned to look into your school," Clarke told them. "That'd be a real shame."
Kaylin and Nicola turned to glare at Clarke. Clarke put on a fake smile. Kaylin looked like she wanted to attack Clarke right there.
Nicola grabbed Kaylin to stop her, starting to pull her away. "Kaylin."
"It's one guy that is threatening our kids and school," Kaylin complained. "Just..."
"We don't know anything for sure," Nicola pointed out. "Just let's go."
Kaylin and Nicola walked away.
Clarke smirked.
Triad men were putting the ashes of the mummy, the earn and the scarab away into evidence bags.
Kaylin and Nicola walked toward Alaric, who was standing next to the van, where the girls were sitting.
"So the mummy isn't actually dead?" Madison asked.
Alaric shook his head. "Well, if I'm right, the mummy's curse is bound by the scarab in its chest. Once Lizzie and Josie siphon the scarab, the curse will be lifted and the mummy will be dead."
"Okay, and what if you're wrong?" Hope asked.
"He's never wrong," Kaylin told them.
"So what now?" Hope asked.
"Until we get the urn, we wait," Nicola answered.
The mummy was already starting to come back, as seen in the tent with the evidence bags.
"How long do we have to wait?" Lizzie asked. She looked at Hope and Rae. "If I have to bug hurl again, I swear to God, I will never talk to you again."
"Okay, that one wasn't even remotely our fault," Rae told her.
"Yeah, well, the beetle slime in my tonsils says otherwise," Lizzie snarked.
Hope and Rae rolled their eyes.
Madison sighed in exasperation.
"Why can't we just give the mummy the urn?" Josie asked. "Is opening the portal to Malivore really that bad?"
"Do any of the monsters that have been trapped in there seem happy and balanced to you?" Madison asked.
"I'm with Josie," Lizzie told them. "Why don't we skip bug vomit round two and just go and get some pancakes or something?"
Inside, in a whirl of ash and cloth, the mummy reformed with the scarab on its chest.
"Think of it like this," Alaric told them. "We'll be setting the mummy free from his prison."
Josie frowned. "Hmm. Poor mummy."
People were running out of the tent.
Kaylin smirked. "Hmm, show time."
"All right, look, we can keep having empathy hour or we can do what we came here to do," Rae told them.
Nicola sighed. "Here we go."
The mummy walked outside, roaring. Rae, Hope, Madison, Josie and Lizzie got out of the van.
Clarke walked up to Kaylin and Nicola. "What the hell is happening?"
"We don't know," Nicola lied. "He should be dead."
"Well, clearly he isn't," Clarke told them.
"Yeah, we can see that," Kaylin told him sarcastically.
The mummy was trashing the place.
"He's looking for the urn," Hope told them.
"What do we do?" Clarke asked.
Alaric shrugged. "I don't know, give him the urn."
Clarke spoke into a radio. "Hey, can someone give this thing the urn?"
"Can't. The urn's gone."
"Who--who's been in there?" Clarke asked.
"Only our guys."
Clarke looked at Kaylin and Nicola. "Do something."
"Kaylin?" Nicola asked.
Kaylin smirked. "My pleasure." She rushed up to the mummy. "Nice bling. Don't mind if I do." She ripped the scarab from the mummy's chest, making it roar in agony, rushing back toward the group, tossing the scarab to the twins. "Lizzie! Josie!"
Lizzie caught it. "Got it."
Josie and Lizzie were siphoning the magic from the scarab, their hands glowing red as they were.
"Oh, crap," Rae said. "Hurry."
The mummy stomped toward them.
"Like hurry hurry," Madison told them.
The mummy released hornets at the group.
Hope held up her hands to cast a spell. "Bulla."
The spell created the magic force field to protect them.
All the buzzing stopped. Everyone looked up, seeing that the mummy was frozen in stone.
Nicola slammed her sword on the mummy, breaking the stone, making it fall into pieces. "The curse is lifted. He's gone."
The girls sighed in relief.
Kaylin turned to Clarke, smirking smugly. "Well, Agent Clarke, we do any more work for you guys, you're gonna have to put us on the payroll."
"Guess we'll be, uh, on our way out of here," Alaric told them. "Have a good night."
Alaric got into the driver's seat. Kaylin got into the passenger seat. Nicola and Hope got into the second row. Lizzie, Josie and Madison got in the back row.
Rae looked at Clarke, seeming out of focus as her eyes briefly glowed with Hellfire, in a daze.
"Rae, let's go," Kaylin told her.
Rae got into the second row with Hope and Nicola. The van drove away. Clarke smirked knowingly.
-~-
On the Road
Alaric pulled the van to a stop roadside. He looked at Kaylin. "Okay. So where is she?"
"You doubting my skills after all this time?" Kaylin asked. She pointed outside. "There."
The woman that Kaylin had compelled earlier walked closer with the urn.
Rae got out of the van to grab the urn from the woman. "Thank you. Oh, and you may want to lay low for a little bit."
The woman walked away.
Kaylin smirked smugly. "You're welcome."
Rae started groaning in pain as her veins glowed with Hellfire, and Hellfire started to swirl around her.
Nicola looked at her worriedly. "Rae?"
"Rae, what's wrong?" Hope asked in concern.
Rae looked up, her eyes glowing with Hellfire as well, as she smirked, looking at the urn in her hand, not acting like Rae at all. "No, I should be the one thanking you, Kaylin. With Tory and Lyla back at the school, unable to mind control me not to get control, it was just too easy to take over your little darling Rae."
Madison realized, in shock. "Not Rae. Rosalita."
Rae/Rosalita smiled. "Hi, Madison. Nicola. There you are, Ric, haven't seen you in person for a while. And haven't seen Lizzie and Josie in there in person ever since I had tried to kill them when they were five years old, the night of Stefan/Alex and Liv/Cristian's wedding, when I blew up the Lockwood house, much to Kacie and Tory's devastation, with Lindsey, while she was pregnant with Emma and Danny, Bonnie, Lizzie and Josie inside." Kaylin, Nicola, Hope, Madison, Lizzie, Josie and Alaric quickly got out of the van to try and get the urn back. Rae/Rosalita held her hand toward them, using mind control to stop them from fighting back, laughing, giggling evilly. "Oh, no, no, no. You guys should know by now that you can't stop me."
Rae/Rosalita smiled, shaking her head, backing away, waving the urn at them mockingly, laughing, spinning around in a little dance to mock them, brushing a bit of hair out of her face, smirking.
Clarke walked up to them. "I'm impressed. I didn't think that you would be able to actually gain control like that, Rosalita."
Rae/Rosalita smirked. "You underestimate me. What do you call yourself now? Clarke?"
"You two know each other?" Kaylin asked furiously. "How?"
"It's a long story that you don't need to hear right now," Rae/Rosalita told them, giving the urn to Clarke, turning to face him, stepping closer, smirking, tilting her head. "Don't say I never gave you anything."
Clarke held up the urn, chuckling. "Wouldn't dream of it." He bowed his head slightly to Rae/Rosalita. "Thank you."
Rae/Rosalita smiled, giving a mocking curtsy, as both she and Clarke smirked.
Kaylin looked at Nicola. "Now you wishing that you had let me attack him?"
"Oh, yeah," Nicola answered.
Clarke smirked. Rae/Rosalita giggled evilly.
Clarke looked at Rae/Rosalita. "What about them?"
"I can hold them off until you leave," Rae/Rosalita answered. "But you better hurry. Rae's fighting back for control."
"Understood," Clarke agreed. "Goodbye."
Clarke walked away, finding his car, driving away to leave.
Rae was clearly fighting back for control, as she made Rosalita groan in pain. The Hellfire glow faded as Rae finally got control back, gasping, as she fell to her knees, removing the mind control Rosalita had had on the others.
Once they could move, Kaylin, Nicola, Hope and Madison ran to make sure that Rae was okay. Lizzie, Josie and Alaric stepped closer worriedly.
"Rae?" Madison asked.
Rae was gasping from the effort to lock Rosalita away again, mind controlling her to stop fighting. "I'm okay. I'm okay." She had tears in her eyes from the effort. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. The urn..."
"It wasn't your fault," Nicola assured. "It wasn't you."
"There's still one key left out there," Hope told her. "We still have a chance to stop this. This wasn't on you, Rae."
"Come on," Alaric told them. "Let's go home."
Kaylin and Hope helped Rae up to her feet, embracing her comfortingly. Nicola and Madison embraced them.
Lizzie and Josie looked at them sadly, seeing them all in a new light.
-
On the Road - Van
Alaric was driving. Kaylin was in the passenger seat. Nicola, Hope and Rae were in the second row. Madison, Josie and Lizzie were in the third row.
Hope looked at Lizzie. "If you really thought that Rae, Emma, Danny, Ariara and I said all those things about you, then you hating us all these years makes perfect sense, other than you thinking that we were stealing Madison away from you. But with a family like ours, Frankenstein Family with Marcel Gerard, Caitlin and Noah Dumaine, Auria Rayvnne, and Lucien Castle, or just the Lockwood-Labonair-Mikaelson-Salvatore-Fell, or Davis-Thompson background, we're probably not immune to those issues ourselves. I mean, you've heard about all the stories about Kaylin, Nicola, Stefan, Damon, and you know about Rae with Rosalita inside, you just saw it. Lindsey, Tory, Luke and Ryan aren't entirely clean either, though they want to be, but they've had the same issues before. And you know about my Aunt Kassandra's madness. And my father, Uncle Elijah, Uncle Kol... they had instances of insanity too. Even Aunt Rebekah and Aunt Freya sometimes. Alex, Liv, Cristian, Alex. Even Hunters. And Aunt Kacie and Aunt Mikayla. Even the aunt that we all share, Aunt Eliza. And you know about the Nata kingdom and the way Ariara has instances like us. She would never make fun of anyone like that. Emma, Danny and Lyla wouldn't either. Madison, even, because all of her Banshee visions, feeling so much death. My mom had issues like that too, and so did my stepfather. Riley. Even though he was a Grey, he had issues like that because of the Hollow trying to drive him out of his mind to suicide, before he did it for real to save us."
"We don't take it lightly, and we would never make fun of you for it," Rae told her. "I would never make fun of you the way the entire school makes fun of me for Rosalita. Danny has enough visions because of her, and he loses control so much because of her. And Emma, she's sucked into dark magic because of her, like Tory and Lindsey were once, and both of them and Lyla have issues with the wolf anger and aggression and darkness like Luke and Ryan have felt. That's why the Davis-Thompsons have issues like us. And Ariara's issues from being three creatures that conflict inside her and her mind make her unsteady too, especially with the rest of the Natas gone. Madison having to see and feel so much death could drive her insane, too, because even though her father was a Founding Family member, her mother was a Banshee. Alex, Liv, Cristian, Marcel, Noah, Caitlin, Auria, Riley, Hayley, Mikayla, Kacie, Eliza, even though their issues weren't as bad sometimes, they could be really bad. Maybe not as bad as Klaus, Elijah, Kassandra, Rebekah, Freya, Kol and Lucien sometimes, or my mom, Aunt Nicola, and uncles Stefan and Damon, but still pretty bad. That's why the Frankenstein Family worked. We bonded together over how screwed up we were, whether it was by Rosalita, or by our minds and personalities. That's why Salvatore-Mikaelson-Fell-Forbes, Lockwood-Labonair-Grey, Harris, Dumaine, Rayvnne, Hunters and Gerard and Castle worked so well together, even after everything they had put each other through and been put through together."
"You have to believe me," Madison told them. "They didn't do it."
Lizzie was stunned to hear all this. "I believe you."
"What I don't get is why anyone would accuse Hope, Rae, Emma, Danny and Ariara of that," Madison admitted. "I mean, after everything they said, after everything our families have gone through. Frankenstein or just Salvatore, Hunter, just Mikaelson, just Forbes, just Lockwood-Labonair, Davis-Thompson or Grey, Harris, Dumaine, Rayvnne, Gerard and Castle. Nicola, Caitlin, Lucien, Kassandra, Rebekah and Kol have all been hexed and forced to kill or try to kill ones they loved. Tory, Eliza and Liv were turned insane or nearly insane by a Siren. Luke was almost turned insane by Rosalita as a slave. Ryan was by the Other Side. Lindsey and Tory by Expression. The Hollow had tried to turn Marcel, Noah, Caitlin, Auria, Lucien, Kassandra and Riley all insane. Everything else that they, Lyla, Cristian, Kaylin, Alex, Stefan, Damon, Klaus, Elijah, Freya, Eliza, Kacie, Mikayla and Hayley have gone through... Ariara with her animal sides and losing the rest of the Natas and her kingdom..."
"I never thought about it like that," Lizzie admitted.
"Who did you hear the rumor from?" Madison asked.
Lizzie looked at Josie.
Hope, Rae and Madison looked at Josie in surprise, confused.
Josie looked down in guilt, turning to look out the window.

Mystic Falls, Virginia
Salvatore Boarding House - Madison/Lizzie/Josie's Dorm Room
Madison, Lizzie and Josie were getting ready for bed.
"Why would you drive a wedge between Lizzie, and Hope, Rae, Emma, Danny and Ariara?" Madison asked. "Josie? Why lie?"
"Madison..." Josie trailed off.
Hope and Rae walked in.
"We were gonna ask the same thing," Hope told them. "Lyla, Emma and Danny are in bed, and I don't know about Ariara, but she should be in bed too."
"If Lyla, Emma, Danny and Ariara weren't in bed, we probably would have told them about this, but we wanted to hear the explanation first so we could explain to them," Rae explained.
Josie, realizing it was time to come clean, sighed. "I didn't just lie. I started the fire. Lizzie had made some remark... about me being obsessed with Ariara, about a month after she got here, after I had gotten over a crush on Hope. I just blurted out, 'How could I be obsessed with somebody who would say such mean things about my twin, like the others do?'"
"But we didn't," Hope told her.
Josie nodded guiltily. "I know. I just made it up."
"Why?" Rae asked.
"Because I didn't want Lizzie to know the truth," Josie answered. "I had a crush on Ariara. And I had slipped a note into Emma and Ariara's room that morning and... I don't know, I just really immediately regretted it, but I couldn't get in by then, because I heard you two, Emma, Danny and Ariara all in there. So I did a fire spell under the door. I was really only aiming for the note."
"Why would it matter that I knew?" Lizzie asked.
Josie turned to look at Lizzie. "Because my whole life, any time I've ever liked anyone you go for them. And you always win."
"You had a crush on Ariara, and Hope before you got over that crush when you met Ariara?" Madison asked.
"Of course I did," Josie answered. "Who wouldn't?" Hope smirked smugly, smiling slightly. They chuckled. Josie looked even guiltier. "And Penelope found out about this somehow, and she told Ariara that even though I might have liked her, I would never be with her, because of Lizzie, and this is why. And she made it seem like no matter what, I would choose Penelope over her, even when I hated Penelope. And Ariara admitted that she liked the thought that she liked me knowing that I wouldn't be with her, because it was her form of self-punishment for not being able to save her kingdom. The other Natas."
"Maybe you should tell Ariara the truth," Hope told her. "That you did, or do, like her. And see where it goes from there."
Rae smiled a bit. "You and Ariara could both use a little happiness right about now."
Hope, Josie and Madison smiled as well. Lizzie herself couldn't help a small smile.
"Just... don't tell her yet, okay?" Josie asked. "Or Lyla, Emma and Danny, because I want to be the one to tell Ariara. I don't know when, but it should be me."
The others nodded in agreement.

Triad Headquarters
Clarke held the urn in one hand, standing with a guard.
"Looks like a piece of junk to me," the guard told him.
" A rose by any other name," Clarke told him.
The guard chuckled. "You better hustle. Mrs. G. wants that in the vault ASAP."
Clarke looked at the urn. "She's the boss." The guard stood. Clarke shot the guard in the back, into his heart, watching him fall dead. He walked over him, using a key card to unlock the door to the room where the pit of Malivore was, walking inside, standing on the balcony over the portal to Malivore. He dropped the urn into the pit. Everything glowed pure white as Clarke watched with a smirk on his face. "Not long now."
