I Remember
I remember standing in the sidelines
Laughing, smiling
Cheering everyone on.
And I remember how it felt
When I wasn't good enough
To be up there,
When I was rejected by everyone.
I remember wearing a smile
Everyday
Waving at everyone who pass by
When all I wanted to do
Was curl up in my room
And cry.
I remember when scores were out
And I was nowhere as good
As the rest of you.
And I remember how it felt
When everyone was laughing,
Happy
And I was standing there
Pretending not to care
As the hole in my heart
Burns on.
I remember when we met them
Strangers, new friends
And no one wanted to come
Come to me
Talk to me
Welcome me
And I stood in the corner
Pretending to fit in
Pretending to enjoy myself
When all I want to do is run away.
And I remember
I remember
Living in the shadows of
Everyone else
And I tried
Calling out
But no one knew me
No one liked me
And I fell down
And down
And down.
And now I'm standing here
Watching as the world goes by
Everything in black and white.
And I can't remember
How it felt
When the world used to be
Vibrant
Radiant
In colour.
And now I'm standing here
And I spread my arms wide
And I take a step
And I feel like I'm flying
Not falling
Flying higher
Higher
Flying to where I should be.
Flying high up to where
I'll finally be free
Of living in the shadows.
[A/N: Hey everyone! I wrote this when I was feeling overwhelmed of being cast aside all the time. I know this has a very similar theme to the short I posted before this but, nevertheless, I hope you enjoyed it. I'm currently working on an actual non-poetry short story and I'm procrastinating so badly on it BUT I promise it'll be out soon. Sometime this week or next week, maybe. Hopefully. Do vote, comment and share this is you liked it and please try my novel, Voices. Thank you c:]
