Prologue
When he was a young boy,(his father took him to see a marching band!!!) the smoke alarms failed. Such a small thing, and yet, the fire took Logan's house, and his beloved parents without any warning.
Logan ended up in an orphanage. He didn't mind it for the most part, but the kids could be overbearing and loud. He mostly kept to himself, he didn't like interacting much; he preferred observing, learning body language and how people behaved. He didn't care for making friends he knew wouldn't last. Logan had one goal.
"Logan... this world can be cruel...but you can do great things. Please...make the world better...fix it...for me? You can do it...I know you can."
His mother's last words stuck in his mind. They motivated him. Drove him to success. He was going to fulfill his mother's dying wish. He was determined to make the world better.
He's doing quite well; Logan had become a successful politician, knowing how people reacted to things and what they wanted was a helpful skill, and his independence and problem solving were admired. He loved his job.
Although, it leaves him stressed and burnt out. Paper work, speeches, research, data, analysis. He'd often escape into the fantasy world.
Oh how he loves the tales of dragons, magic, wizards, and more! He'd spend all his free time reading stories and tales about the magical world. Each creature was fascinating, from fire breathing dragons, to half people half snake creatures. How he wished he could be a part of that world; live alongside the wizards, maybe have a pet dragon.
Unfortunately, he had to hide his love for fantasy. People who loved the fantasy world were viewed as crazy, so it wouldn't be the best for his image as a politician if someone were to find out. That of course didn't stop him from fantasizing.
Virgil, on the other hand, was one of those magical beings Logan adored; though, of course, Virgil had no idea who Logan was.
Virgil was a being who has magical abilities, or to put it into smaller terms....a wizard.(YER A WIZARD, HARRY-) Though in the magical world, hundreds upon thousands of other magical or mythical creatures and beings existed aswell; truly fascinating, for the lot of them. Most living without a care in the world, leading happy and peaceful lives.
Except Virgil.
Virgil has an older brother, who his father insists stay unknown, but he knows enough from bits and pieces that he has learned over the years. His brother was around a decade older than him, his favorite color was red, and he loved the non-magical creatures that resided beyond the barrier.
Their father told them horrific tales of the beasts who call themselves humans, and how they murder all magical beings in cold blood, no matter the cost.
Virgils brother didn't believe them though, he believed that this was all just a big misunderstanding, and that humans had changed since the Salem. Virgil, on the other hand, was terrified of humans; Virgil believing every word.
One day his brother had enough of this nonsense, and snuck out of their small cottage during the dead of night. When his brother ran away, Virgil was ten, for twelve years Virgil has been trying to find out who he was, and how he can rescue him from the barbaric beasts that he so foolishly trusted. Virgil is determined to get his brother back, no matter what the cost.
Virgil overlooks one minor detail...
Virgil is without a doubt,
petrified of humans.
