Your Protection, my Trust
Valt laughed, looking at the expressions of the two. "You two are partners! And Shu himself chose Lui. This is going to be epic"
"Switch with me" Lui said with dead looking eyes looking at all the others in the dining hall. After the commotion all of them came back to the dining hall. Surprisingly enough, the squad sat together to eat with their partners while a certain pair sat on the opposite corners far away from the other.
"Please" Shu begged, clasping his hands together, bowing his head. Xander burst into laughter looking at the duo who was in the desperate need to switch their partners.
"You two are a good pair" He said with a smirk, "You'll do just fine"
Lui crossed his arms, raising his brow. Taking everyone by surprise he stood up slamming his hands on the table. "Listen Kurenai Shu!" Lui yelled, silencing the whole room. Shu blinked, his stomach churning from seeing the completely furious boy in front of him. "If I lose this because of you, I'll write your end by my own two hands"
Shu clicked his tongue looking away. "Speak for yourself"
"What?" Lui asked rounding the table walking to Shu. Everyone was dead silent as the boy reached the albino sitting on the opposite corner of the table. Valt stood up almost instantly ready to stop Lui if he went too far in his action. The white tyrant stopped right in front of Shu grabbing his collars, he looked at his rich crimson eyes. "I mean it. If I lost because of you, I swear on my kingdom I'll end you"
Shu stood up from his chair, slapping away the arms holding tightly to his collars. "Don't flatter yourself thinking that you're the only one strong here. I'll show you how powerful this Kurenai Shu can be" He hissed turning around to walk away. "Oh" Shu stated, stopping at his steps turning around. "You did a good job as my assistant today"
Lui's left eyes twitched. "You bastard" He cursed lunging to Shu who gracefully dodged the attack with a sly smile. The albino ran to Free, who just finished his lunch and took cover behind him. Free merely blinked as Lui advanced with a murderous grin. "Step back deer bastard"
Zac gave out a confused noise scrunching his nose. "Dear....bastard?"
"No," Orochi said. "It's deer, you know the animal"
"Oh" Zac said, snapping his fingers. "Free love animals after all"
"I'm just standing here" Free stated crossing his arms, behind him Shu giggled giving him a triumphant smirk knowing he would be safe at his position.
"Oi" Lui snapped. "Face me like a man you albino! Don't be a chicken"
Shu peered from his spot, holding on to Free's forearms just in case. "He's a deer and I'm a chicken? And that makes you a shark, a brutal completely rebellious stupid shark!"
"So many animals," Xander said, leaning against his chair when Ruway spoke.
"Well, he's not wrong. Lui does look like a shark"
"What did you say braid?" Lui asked, shooting a glare at Ruway. "And you '' He said, turning back to Shu who was watching him with an indifferent look, still taking cover behind Free. "You're going down chicken"
The chaos ensued. Shu fled from his spot behind Free and rounded the table as Lui chased him down, going in circles. "Ah" Wakiya said. "Perfect teamwork"
Before they could break into a brutal fight, the doors of the dining room opened with a creak making everyone glance at the door. Their art teacher stepped in. Her golden brown hair flowing like a river behind her as she stood up in the middle of the room graceful as always. She looked at their table with one of her eyebrows raised, a questioning look enveloping her aquamarine eyes as they shifted around the squad. "What's going on here?"
"We're playing tag" Shu blurted out earning an are you serious look from Lui as he slapped himself inwardly for the lame excuse. "In the dining room" He admitted with a sigh as he continued. "amidst the lunch"
"Talk about being stupid" Lui muttered, crossing his arms.
Their art teacher smiled, but she didn't say anything. Instead she let out a small laugh. She was known for her significant talent in music and making Haiku poems. The students showed their utmost respect toward her kind, calm nature which stood out among their whole staff. She gave them another tender smile as she talked. "Everyone get ready. We're going to visit somewhere"
Zac wiped his mouth from a cloth and placed it aside standing up. "Somewhere?"
"The headmaster informed me that you guys are lacking teamwork. So, to improve the bond and the teamwork between pairs we have a special assignment ready. It would be brutal and completely merciless. Better get yourselves ready for some hard work"
"What is that place?" Sisco asked, thoroughly confused.
She clapped her hands cheerfully. "We're going to visit a circus"
Everyone fell into a silence before yelling out. "What!?"
Shu tilted his head to the side, he had never been to a circus but he read about them in books. Amazing acrobatics and colourful arenas with a lot of snacks was the image that he had in mind. But the description of their sensei, made him second guess about his own mental picture. "What's a circus exactly?"
"Dumb idiot" Lui growled leaving them as he headed outside to get ready. But their art teacher stopped him.
"I'm afraid you'll have to be with your partners, and these" She said, getting out several pairs of identical cuffs. "You all have to share each handcuff with your partner."
Shu slapped his forehead, almost letting out a curse. Great, he thought. He will have to be with Lui the whole day and to make things better he would be handcuffed to him. He would be handcuffed to the devil himself. Good lords help me! The others didn't really mind the suggestion. Lui and Shu watched as the others took their ones and attached each end to their own hands. In the end the only ones left to wear them was the trouble duo. Lui took the cuff with a grimace and looked at the albino who was watching him with the same troublesome look. "Gimme your hand"
Shu frowned, "No. What if you break it?"
"Of course I will," Lui stated boldly, grabbing into Shu's wrist. The albino silently stared as Lui attached the handcuff to his own hand. "Stupid assignments" He grumbled under his breath looking at their teacher.
Their art teacher smiled as she led all of them outside. They walked along an isolated path which led them out of the kingdom. Most of them were talking with each other as they walked while Shu and Lui tried to ignore the other's pure existence. But it was kind of impossible regarding their cuffs hands. "Oi" Lui snapped suddenly making the other let out a startled yelp. "quit the lagging and walk faster"
Shu huffed slowing down intentionally to piss the other off. "What's a circus?" He quietly asked out of curiosity.
"A graveyard," Lui answered, tugging on the cuff making Shu stumble a few steps forward. The shorter huffed.
"I'm serious. What's a circus?"
"Well" Zac spoke. "Circus is a place where most of the people enjoy their day. Watching the people put out various stunts and all."
Shu hummed thoughtfully. "That's what I read, but the teacher said something about merciless and all"
"I think maybe it's because we're going for training there," Valt suggested making the others nod in agreement.
Shu kept thinking and suddenly stopped making Lui stumble back. "What the" He yelled spinning around to see the other deep in thought. "Oi" He said, walking to Shu and flicking his forehead. Shu flinched, muttering quietly as he was dragged back to reality. "Walk"
"Lui, do you think we can go to a circus to train? I mean we don't know any of that stuff"
Lui sighed, "Let's go and see. C'mon"
The pair started to walk again. One, lost in thoughts about what is yet to come while the other, thinking about a way to escape from the handcuffs. They walked for which felt like hours before arriving to a river which was flowing with a massive intensity. "What now?" Ruway asked.
"Lui" Free said. Lui nodded, he didn't want someone else to tell him what he needed to do because he had common sense. The bridge was destroyed from the rain they had last night and their only hope was for Lui to ice the river long enough for them to pass to the other side. Lui walked to the river bank dragging Shu with him. Shu let out a tired sigh, he was seriously sick of all these dragging around. But there was one thing he liked to watch, the way Lui used his power. No matter how much he stared at his power he never got bored. It was like an art, Shu thought, watching Lui crouched down to touch the water. In seconds the whole river was frozen into see through crystals shining against the sun beams cast from the heavens up above.
The others took their leave quickly and at last the only ones who were left on the other side was Lui and Shu. Lui stepped into the ice as Shu let out a squeak behind him. "I don't know how to walk on ice"
"Not my problem" Lui muttered gliding through the ice. Tugged by the chain that bound the cuff Shu stumbled into the ice, without even realizing he clung into Lui's hand as if his life depended on that purely.
"Get off me" Lui growled.
"No" Shu yelped, gripping the hand tighter. Lui let out a grunt trying to push him away, but the grip was too hard that even a strong person like him wasn't able to push the albino off who was clinging to him like a baby koala.
"Listen to me you idiot, I'll blast your hand off if you didn't let me go"
Shu whined, shaking his head. "If I fall, you fall too. Just let me go like this"
"You two, stop flirting and come faster will ya?" Wakiya yelled from the other side. Lui was fuming in anger at this point but Shu did have a point. If that chicken fell off it would drag him down to. Cursing at Shu like for the hundredth time for the day he made his way to the other side. Shu, clinging to his hand all the way.
"We're here" Lui said to the others as Shu opened his crimson eyes letting out a relieved breath. He blinked realizing his position, that he was still clinging to Lui. He jumped away from the other averting his gaze. Lui smirked. "Chicken"
Shu just kept his silence as he crouched down touching the water, the frozen river melted producing a thick mist as the familiar sound of water running down the river swirling along reached their ears again. Lui stared at the albino, the beautiful passionate flames licking his fingertips. He loved to see Shu's power flaring up, the albino controlling it gracefully and it was almost addicting he thought. Almost like an art of his own. After that, their journey began again, this time it was mostly quiet. Everyone is wondering about their next mission. Curiosity taking the better of them as they walked along. After walking which it felt like for hours they entered a plain. Amidst it stood a massive tent shining with various strips of colours. "Whoa!" Shu gasped. "This is huge"
Lui gave him an unimpressed look continuing to walk along the path tugging on the cuffs once in a while making sure to remind the awestruck idiot behind him how to walk. Then suddenly Shu let out another startled gasp making Lui sign for like the hundredth time. "What now?"
Shu blinked. "That man is huge"
Lui turned around to see a man, standing in front of the tent talking with their art teacher stealing glances of the squad once in a while. Lui gave him another neutral look. "So what? There are many men like that in Hyoketsu. You should come and see them to realize the real definition of giants"
Shu nodded. "Thanks for the invitation" He suddenly said, taking the other off guard.
"That's not-" Lui started as Shu cut him off.
"I'll make sure to visit Hyoketsu as you told me. Really Lui, I appreciate it" Shu said with a small laugh quickening his paces while Lui jogged to catch up with him.
"Don't mess with me. I didn't invite you, stupid"
"You're the stupid one here" Shu shot back glaring as Free passed them both passing a comment:
"Aren't you both?"
Shu clicked his tongue in annoyance while Lui lunged at the blonde unknowingly dragging the albino with him. "Ow" Shu yelped clutching to his wrist. "Quit the dragging Lui. My wrist hurts like hell"
Lui raised his brow. "I don't care," He said, pronouncing each word carefully for the albino to hear. Shu muttered a curse under his breath following the white tyrant to their teacher. She looked at all of them and clasped her hand together. Her rosy lips stretched to a kind smile.
"Kids, this is Kurtz Baratier. The owner of this circus and your trainer for today. Make sure you all take all of the lessons to your hearts. Absorb the knowledge" She said as she looked at Kurtz. "They are all yours"
Kurtz grinned, clearly satisfied that he had the control over them for the day. "Let me get this straight. I'm a merciless man, I say it, you do it. That's my motto. Simple as that. Now everyone, come in"
"Bold" Sisco mused following the others to the tent. Shu's eyes widened in clear surprise. The inside was spacious and more humongous than the image he had in mind. Rings, balls lay everywhere and there were several members training with all kinds of things. One of them looked over at them and clicked his tongue.
"Those are the ones from that school?"
"Yeah" Kurtz said, turning to them. "I'm going to give each pair an exercise. It's the first activity you'll have to do after everyone is finished. Let's move to the next level. You two," He said pointing at Free and Valt. "We have a rather aggressive tiger. We caught it yesterday, and you two will train it within two hours I expect nothing less from you" Free looked at Valt who looked quite afraid of their task. Free gave him a reassuring look with a smile.
"We can do it"
Valt gulped, but nodded. Shu whispered good luck with a thumbs up as they passed him. Valt flashed a smile as the pair followed one of the performers exiting the tents. Kurtz assigned each of them a task and unfortunately Wakiya and Honcho got the task to master the Russian Swing which was one of the hardest skills to acquire and amidst it all Wakiya was afraid of height and their task majorly depend on the trust they had in each other which is so tiny. After Shu and Lui the pair that always fought was Honcho and Wakiya. The two of them never ended a conversation without thrashing each other and alongside with Shu and Lui they were called the thrashing pairs for that certain reason. Kurtz looked at the last two left and smirked, "Come with me" He said, walking to one of the side exits of the tent. Shu felt his skin crawl by a sudden dread feeling. He looked at Lui who was watching straight ahead following the man without any doubt. Man, Shu thought grimly. I want that confidence. They arrived at a large pool which ran for a few meters. There were metal bars cut in halves that a person could stand on them balancing their feet carefully if they do not want to fall. There were a handful of them from one corner to another working as a kind of bridge. Shu narrowed his eyes realizing that the bars changed their positions once in a while.
"Are those?" Lui asked, walking closer to the pool alongside Shu. Shu blinked looking at the water. His breath stopped for a second when he realized.
"It's your kind" Shu blurted out, making the other take a double take.
"Hah?"
"Sharks, those are sharks, aren't they?" Shu asked from Kurtz who was letting out an amusing crackle seeing the distress of the pair.
"Of course it is. This pool consists of sea water and this is one of our major stunts which draws people in. And you two will have to complete it"
"What do we have to do?" Lui questioned.
"One person stands on the other side of the pool while one stand here. The person in that far corner will have to give direction while the person in this corner stepped to the bars walking along as they changed. And to make things interesting we always blindfold the person who crosses the pool that he solely depend on the other one giving them the guidance"
"That's sick" Shu muttered, wrapping his arms around himself.
"We can't exactly do that" Lui stated raising his hand in order to elaborate his point. "We are cuffed"
Kurtz walked to them and touched something which went unknown by the two as their cuffs disappeared from their hands. "You" He said looking at Lui. "Give him the instructions and You" He said, turning to Shu. "will cross the pool"
"My life," Shu said, sighing. "Is already flashing by my eyes"
Lui clasped his hands together with a smug grin. "Guess this would be an easy way to kill you," He started walking to the opposite side of the pool. Shu gulped turning to the man standing beside him. A desperate look covering his face.
"I don't think I can trust that person. He might be plotting against me with the help of these sharks. Can I pass?"
Kurtz smirked, handing him a black blindfold. "Good luck!"
Shu hesitantly looked at the black strip of cloth in his hands. His mind running thousand miles at a time as he realized all the dreading possibilities of the situation. He couldn't trust him, just not with his whole damn life. He turned to Lui who was waiting impatiently, tapping his heel against the ground as he waited for him to start. Shu took a deep breath covering his eyes with the black silk cloth. The world turned to complete black as he took the first step, it was rather easy because the bar didn't change at his first step. He stood in the metal bar balancing himself as he heard the machinery sound of the bars moving their places. His heartbeat started to increase in seconds. He was so dead. "Right," Lui's voice said, "One foot away from you" Shu bit his bottom lip and did as he said, not like he had any other option to follow. After his second step, a silence followed as the metal bars changed their ways again. Lui instructed him clearly and smoothly with each step, Shu only had to concentrate on balancing himself on the bar. He staggered a few times and almost had a panic attack when he lost his balance but was able to regain it as fast as he could. Things were going rather smoothly that Shu found confidence on Lui's directions and he started to believe in him.
--------------------------------------------
Valt and Free were going with their task smoothly. Their teamwork was better than all of the pairs. The tiger indeed looked like a wild beast, just fresh out of it's essence of the wild. The brown eyes glaring daggers with intense blood lust as it watched the two males baring it's teeth displaying the sharp teeth which can rip through any muscle. Free narrowed his eyes circling the beast, his brown eyes never leaving the wild beast glaring down at the two. Valt followed Free's instructions as he circled it from the opposite way. The beast seemed to be confused for a moment, contemplating on his choices for who to strike. It looked at both males, and growled, a low inhumane growl escaping from it which made Valt flinch slightly. "Don't let him sense that you're afraid" Free warned Valt. He had always been the one who would be with nature, rather than humans. Wild animals were easier to handle than humans, that was his idea about the wild and nature. Free glared right at the beast's hazel eyes, glaring down at him, commanding the beast silently. He didn't break eye contact as he took a step to the beast, not a sign of fear in his soft brown eyes. Only determination and intensity lies there, the strong courage to tame the beast.
Sensing the determination of his partner, Valt felt his own fear melting away. He trusted in Free, and he knew that this male could do anything. He was the definition of perfection. By and By Free emitted his power, the power of draining. They all watched as the beast's eyelids grew heavy as it took heavy steps back clashing against the iron bars of the cage. "Valt now" Free said as Valt reached to the tiger putting aside his fear, trusting his partner for the fullest. The tiger was drowsy and weak, Valt could clearly see the lethargies of the tiger as he reached to its forehead feeling the soft fur against his palm. At first, the beast growled baring his teeth glaring at Valt when he almost drew away his hand. "Don't be scared," Free said in a soothing voice encouraging the other. Valt nodded reaching his hand to its forehead again. The tiger growled weakly but this time it rubbed his head against Valt's palm. The boy let out a surprising squeal.
"Did we already tame it?"
Free let out a small laugh. "We didn't. This is just the first step. To tame a tiger, it takes weeks, sometimes it take months while some beasts just stay wild. They can never be tamed"
"Really!?" Valt said, frowning. "What are we going to do then?"
One of the performers walked to them with a smile. "Never thought you two would be brave enough to touch him. Good job! The others are already at the sight of those two princes taking their test. Go and join the audience"
Free and Valt shared an amused glance as they followed the crew member to the back of the tents where a large pool stood. Shu was standing on one of the metal iron bars balancing himself, and amidst everything he was blindfolded. "Are those sharks?" Valt asked, staring at the creatures.
"Fresh and alive," Kurtz said, smirking as Lui instructed Shu to step on another metal bar.
"This is crazy," Honcho said, standing beside a terrified Wakiya. He looked kind of blue at some point, Free thought absent mindedly as he focused his gaze back on the ongoing test which seemed to be deadlier than any of them. One wrong instruction and Shu will end up in a horrible end.
"How much far to the end?" Shu asked desperately. It felt like this mission would never end.
"Just a little more," Lui said, his voice sounded sincere and softer than usual. Shu nodded quietly, stepping to the next bar as Lui instructed. Kurtz smirked walking to the ladle beside the pool. The others watched him curiously as he placed his hand on the wooden ladle pulling it up. The metal bars creaked, this time instead one of them the whole pack of metal bars started to move. Shu yelped, spreading his arms trying to keep his balance.
"W-What's going on?"
Lui shot a glare at Kurtz. "The heck are you doing? Are you trying to kill him idiot?" Lui hissed looking back at Shu who seemed to be panicking and at the same time trying to keep his balance.
"Shu" Valt almost screamed taking a step forward when the albino lost his balance on the metal bar. One of his feet hitting against the edge of the bar making him stumble to the water below with a yelp. Wakiya closed his eyes, looking away, muttering.
"I can't watch this"
Half of them had their eyes closed, the pure stricken horror enveloping everyone.
At first, it was the loud gasps and the yells for his name. Then he could feel the wind rushing in his ears as his heartbeat rose, an overwhelming feeling of dizziness overtaking his mind. The pool of sharks which lied underneath him was real, he knew. He waited for the impact of the cold water hitting against his skin, and probably all those sharks ripping off his muscles biting him to pieces. But instead, he felt a sudden chilliness in the air. Two strong arms catching him. One wrapped around his waist while the other one gripped on his hand. The owner's breath tickled against his ear. Shu gasped when he felt he was pulled away and soon was standing on the solid ground. He leaned against Lui. Without even taking the blindfold he could figure out the person who rescued him. The owner of the alluring power of ice, Shirosagi Lui, the ice prince.
Lui watched Shu as he tried to catch his breath leaning against him. He moved his hand to take off the blindfold covering his vision which obviously made the albino even more uncomfortable. Shu opened his eyes in a slow manner, blinking several times as the world came to focus again. Lui helped him to stand up. "You dying?" He asked with a smirk.
Instead of complaining this time, it drew a smile out of the younger. "Not so easily Shirosagi"
Lui merely hummed as Kurtz came to them, grinning wildly as he clapped his hands. "Wonderful performance. Seems like you two have each other's back"
Lui raised his brow. "Duh... in your dreams"
Shu turned to Lui, his eyes showing nothing but sincerity and trust. "Thanks" He said, his tune soft and still mixed up with a hurricane of emotions Lui just nodded clicking his tongue.
Valt ran to them, unknowingly dragging Free with him in the process. "Shu" He said, taking both of his hands looking for any injuries. When he found none, he let out a relieved sigh. "Thank god you're okay."
Shu chuckled. "Yeah, I'm fine"
"What a weird story" Free stated in his normal bored tone. "A shark saving a person with another bunch of sharks, ah the irony"
Lui let out a furious grunt glaring at Free, ready to strike, like a tiger waiting for their time to attack the prey. But before a major fight broke out Kurtz whistled and smirked. "The test is not over, let's move to the second phase. Let's walk to each other's minds"
Lui almost choked, "What the hell did you say?"
Kurtz led them back to the tent without answering the question of the flame haired boy. He made them sit around the platform. Each pair facing each other. Lui tilted his head looking at the albino in front of him. "What an ugly face you have"
Shu frowned, "Excuse me, but I'm not a mirror"
"Oooh" Zac sang from his corner, snickering to himself. Kurtz clapped his hands, gaining their attention back to him. Everyone looked at him, this time he came in with another person. Compared to Kurtz this man was smaller in size, maybe even smaller than Valt. He was wearing makeup which gave away the impression of a joker. He smiled widely as Kurtz introduced him as 'Bisuke: The mind walker'. Lui clicked his tongue grumbling nonsense. Shu inspected the man closely as he walked straight toward him. Shu moved away from him instinctively as the man tilted his head.
"My My, a complicated piece of mind indeed"
Shu frowned, Bisuke turned around clasping his hands together. "Now close your eyes, I'll take you on an adventure to your partner's mind." Some glanced at each other unsurely before closing their eyes. After everyone settles down, Bisuke starts to chant one of the spells he learnt from his father, who was a sorcerer in the east. Some of them collapsed to the ground, occupied in a deep slumber while some unconsciously leaned against each other for support. Unknowingly, Shu had his head placed on Lui's shoulder as the albino leaned against the boy fully while Lui placed his head on top of Shu's crown. The only sound was the silence. The lingering, eerie, mysterious silence.
When Shu opened his eyes he was met with nothingness. There was no ground to touch his feet, and there was no light, everything was dark. It was like he's trapped in a void of nothingness. Shu frowned, feeling the presence of another behind him. He turned around to see none other than Lui Shirosagi staring back at him with his apathetic look covering his features. Shu sighed, "Where are we?"
"Inside my mind obviously" Lui said, "Your mind should be filled with rainbows and unicorns"
Shu hissed charging at the white tyrant when he spotted something weird, just a few paces behind them. He tilted his head. "Is that...a door?"
Lui turned on his heel to see a perfectly carved white door. The symbol of the Hyoketsu kingdom is embedded in the wooden door. Lui narrowed his eyes intensely recognizing it right off the bat, it was his room that lies behind that door awaiting to display one of the most treacherous memories of the white tyrant. Shu walked toward the door, there was no ground underneath them, but at the same time their feet touched the air, it was like walking on the sky. Lui grabbed on his wrist and stopped the albino. "If you passed that door, it means you're invading the privacy of my mind"
Shu raised his brow. "Isn't that the point to do this? To know more about each other?"
Lui clicked, he hated it when Shu had a point. He shook his hand from the other's male walking to the door. Before entering he looked at Lui and gave him a reassuring smile. "Don't worry Lui, everything is going to be fine"
(a/n - The name of the Lui and Shu in the memories would be in bold letters that none of you might confuses the name with the real one)
The two entered the room. It was dark, the only source of light was the candle standing on the nightstand producing a pale yellow ghostly light. Sitting in the king sized bed in the middle of the room was Lui, the light from the candle lighting up half of his face with a pale yellow. Shu looked at the Lui who was standing beside him, his expression was unreadable as he stared at himself sitting on the bed. Quite surely the one in the bed didn't feel the presence of the two intruders. It was a memory, and the pair was just like souls which are invisible to the human eye. The door behind them opened again, a male, around their age stepped in. Lui grimaced, frost covering his fingertips as Shu gave him a questioning glance, obviously not liking the presence of the stranger.
The Lui in memory turned, his violet eyes reflecting nothing but absolute fury and betrayal. The guy smiled wickedly. "I got you good, didn't I?"
Lui clenched his fists trying to stay composed, but his attempt was obviously failing. "You gave the enemies the information. Didn't you?"
The guy tilted his head, trying to pull off an innocent look. "What do you mean?" Then he suddenly blinked. "Oh! I may have accidentally slipped a note to the enemy general saying Prince Shirosagi would launch an attack. It was not intentional" He smiled, a hand brushing through his dark hair glistening against the faint light. "Ah the accident"
Beside him, Lui started to grow more and more agitated. As if the memory displaying in front of them was making him furious and murderous. The Lui in the memory grimaced standing up. He faced the guy in front of him, betrayal that was the expression evident on those features. The utter betrayal from someone he trusted the most. "Kira, why did you do that? I trusted in you"
Kira clicked his tongue annoyed. "You're too flashy. To think someone like you getting the honour of defeating the enemies gave me chills. Specifically" He said lighting up another candle and placing it on the nightstand. The faint light glowing a little brighter. "Now you are prohibited from leading any war, which means it's my time to shine" The male turned laughing wildly. "My poor cousin, thinking everyone can be trusted."
Ice crept from his hand, shaping itself into a sharp pointed dagger. In a blink Lui attacked with complete fury trapping Kira to the wall, the dagger pressed against his throat, dangerously close to pierce his skin. Kira grinned, his brilliant violet eyes matching Lui's shining with wicked insanity. "My my, kill me here, and it'll be the end of you"
Lui growled, tightening the grasp around his neck before letting loose again. Kira stepped aside and took an elegant bow, mocking the boy standing in front of him. "I may depart now my prince. Have an army to lead tomorrow. Praise me when I bring glory to this kingdom" He said turning around as he walked out of the door, not a second glance. Lui just stood there in anger. He turned around and slammed the candle against the floor drawing out a startled yelp from Shu. The light grew fainter again, only one candle there to light up the room. But Shu didn't miss the tears of frustration and anger slipping down the white tyrants eyes. It was the first time he's seen him cry and for some reason it broke his heart. Lui looked at him.
"Let's go"
Shu nodded, not objecting the decision as he walked out of the room with Lui. The realization dawned on the albino. The reason for Lui's hard attitude toward people, the reason he trusts none of them. He wondered what happened after that. When someone close to your heart broke it to pieces, crumbled that trust: the foundation of a relationship, it was the most painful feeling you'll ever face. Shu didn't know the feeling yet, he was an unstained flower hidden from the world but he knew it was hard. He knew it must be hell to go through that and at that moment he promised to himself, he would never betray Lui, and would never let him feel the bitter taste of betrayal because of him. Lui snapped his fingers in front of Shu's face as the latter blinked.
"Yeah?"
"Don't think about it much. And no talking about that" Lui muttered walking to the opposite side to see another door. This time, the door held the sign of the Moeru kingdom: a burning flame surrounding the mighty axe of Spriggan.
"Lui," He said, taking the attention from other. "I won't betray you" The word slipped out from his tongue without even him knowing. Lui blinked tilting his head.
"Oh, yeah?" His tone was turning to a more furious one, he didn't trust him.
Shu clenched his hands, narrowing his eyes, bringing them to meet the violet ones. "I mean it" Sincerity dripped from his voice as he voiced the words. Lui looked taken aback as Shu continued. "And I expect the same from you. Because you know the pain a broken trust"
Lui kept his mouth shut as he opened the door walking in. Shu didn't expect an answer from him, because he knew even a strong person like Lui needed some time, sometime to think of it all. Shu followed him to his own room. The most familiar place in the world, a place he called home.
Unlike his memory the room was lighted up from the natural ray of sunlight coming through the opened curtains. Lui took a good look around the room. A bookshelf, just as he expected standing against the opposite wall for his bed. Near it was a coffee table with some kind of medicines on it. He moved his eyes to the massive bed standing in the middle, and the figure sleeping on it, covered in blankets and surrounded by pillows. Shu looked two or three years younger than he currently is. Shu tilted his head trying to recall the memory, frowning slightly. The door opened behind them, just like Lui's happened when they were in his mindset. A man entered. His eyes firmly fixed on the small figure on the bed. Behind Lui, Shu inhaled sharply as if the realization just dawned on him. Lui just ignored the albino, he kept his eyes fixed to the scene. The man walked toward Shu laying on the bed without knowing anything. His breath is calm and quiet, his face peaceful. The guy sat down at the edge of the bed licking his lips. Lui blinked, realizing the emotion that those eyes reflected the pure lust, lust to devour another body. Lui turned to Shu who was standing behind him with a horror stricken face before turning back. The man was petting Shu's white locks, in an affectionate yet lustful manner.
His hands slowly moved toward the covers laying over his body. He pushed them down to his knees exposing the white robes the albino was wearing. The man smirked, his hand reaching Shu's neck as he leaned against him, peppering kisses over his jaw and neck. Lui growled, anger taking the better of him. But this was past, he knew. He couldn't change anything even if he wanted to. Shu groaned opening his sleepy ruby eyes. He tried to push the man away desperately. But his posture and his attempts were far weaker than the man. The effect of his medicine making him drowsy and weakened. "L-let go" He whispered, words barely audible to their ears.
The man pulled away one of his hands tracing his cheekbone. "Let me have a taste of this beauty"
Shu whined, shaking his head as the man reached to his robe untangling the knot exposing his shoulders to him to see. Shu shivered, kicking desperately trying to cry out for help. No words echoed from his throat, the drowsiness taking over his again as he clawed at his own throat trying to find his voice. The man traced his fingers against his smooth pale skin when the door busted open, soldiers and his butlers filling in the room. "Catch the intruder"
Lui turned to Shu who was shivering, the trauma of the memory hitting against his mind again. Unconsciously he walked to the albino and gripped on his wrist muttering the words. "Let's leave"
They came back to the airy place. The complete nothingness. Lui let go of his hand and looked at Shu firmly, in the eye. "Oi"
Shu breathed heavily responding to his words with a nod. "Y-Yeah?"
"I told you, didn't I?" He said placing a hand on Shu's chin made the male face him. Shu looked at the purple eyes reflecting truth and trust. "No one is going to hurt you, you're safe with all of us"
Shu nodded, taking a shaken breath. "I know"
"You said you won't betray me right? And I won't let something like that happen to you. How does that sound? Fair enough?"
Shu looked genuinely surprised as he turned to the taller male. "Y-yeah?"
But before they could talk more, the pair felt a sudden dizziness washing over them. "Meet you at the other side" Lui said with a smirk as the world turned black and everything disappeared.
Lui groaned, opening his eyes to feel a pressure on his shoulder. He frowned looking down to see none other than Kurenai Shu, the albino twitching silently opening his ruby eyes. Blinking several times he looked up at Lui, for a split second he could see the confusion lacing the crimson eyes. After a beat the boy pulled away almost instantly realizing the awkward posture the two of them shared. Shu groaned sitting down and looking around. Almost all of them were woken up and everyone looked a bit shaken, even Free himself. Kurtz smiled. "How was the trip?"
Lui clicked his tongue standing. "Horrible" He turned back to Shu. His expression unreadable as always, after a while surprising them all and Shu himself, the white tyrant reached his hand for Shu. His eyes burning with determination. "Let's sweep the floor with the other pairs. We can win this"
Shu smiled back reaching for the hand. Lui pulled him up as the two locked their eyes smiling. "Of course, let's win this"
Kurtz stood beside the arts teacher as he witnessed the whole scenario. "Kurenai Shu" He spoke, gaining the attention of the female standing beside him. "Wields the power of fire but is unique and pure like a snowflake. Shirosagi Lui, wields the power of ice but is energetic and passionate like a burning, raging flame. What image do they create in your mind?" He asked looking at the art teacher.
She smiled. "A burning snowflake" She answered. "Extremely passionate, yet elegant. A beauty that is unique and rare. A Snowflake circled with a ring of fire. Neither melting nor cherishing giving life for each other."
Kurtz nodded. "Exactly"
Free looked at the pair and smirked. "We are going to wipe the floor with all of you. Wait and see Shirosagi"
Valt grinned, "Sorry Shu, but yep the goddess of victory is on our side"
"In your dreams" Honcho said, pumping his fist. "Me and Goldie to the win"
Lui turned to Shu with a thoughtful face. "Come to think of it, if you chicken out it would be harder though"
"What the-" Shu said, narrowing his eyes. "Shut up Shark face. You're the biggest chicken here"
"The hell did you say?" Lui asked, cracking his knuckles inching toward the albino. The two broke into a fight again as the other watched with amused faces.
"I can see them winning," Xander said, laughing.
"Totally" Gou said with a sigh as the followed their arts teacher back to the school. The troublemaker duo arguing the whole way back there.
