Chapter 34

What feels like years is only a few days. My heart is so full and I'm not even focused on anything else. No doubts about the pace of our relationship, no problems with the long-distance aspect, nothing. All my worries were swept away that evening with Tripp's corny way with words and passionate ways to stimulate my mind.

This is not love at first sight. It's love within two weeks. Sounds no better, does it? It wasn't even love. It was just my feelings acting up. so what am I talking about?

Sure, you can't help when you fall in love with somebody. Everyone's feelings are different. Speaking for only me, it was pretty sad. I don't fall often. Hell, I've only been in love one time so falling is definitely not a daily event for me.

It's supposed to take me a while to have feelings for anybody, based on my experience with dating. I can be hardheaded and not believe my own heart sometimes. It's ruined potential dates before and I didn't care.

Now, when I think of Tripp, my toes curl, my cheeks hurt from blushing, my eyelids bash, and my heart races faster than the speed of light. Even his loud snoring ass makes me giggle like a little school girl.

It's the next day, morning time, and I open my eyes to a deep-sleeping Tripp. His warm ivory skin sprawling out over the bed. One of his legs are over both of mine and I'm trying so hard not to laugh. He sounds like a big ass pig, having an argument with other pigs.

He's sleeping so good after our night of pleasurable exercise. I just want to grab his length and take over that morning wood but I decide to let him sleep instead.

My hand moves over his chest gently while I think about how many times we made love. It was a mind-blowing experience that shook the ground, in my mind.

We connected in more ways than just physically. He worked out my mind and emotions, making me feel like I'm on top of the world. In my mind, I was the only girl in his world and spoiled to no end.

That's when I knew that this wasn't based on just sex alone. Much like my vagina, my heart erupted with so much emotion and feeling. Just like the last time we had sex, it wasn't just sex to me. There was something there.

The ecstasy grew with every sensual poetic word that flowed from his lips, all the sweet words that came from the top of his head. He could've censored it and read this on stage but the uncensored version in my ear was perfect.

In fact, it was the best part about the sex. You could hear the heart and effort in every word and he wasn't trying anymore. He made his delivery so smooth with that low almost baritone voice and my body shivered. That's probably what made me release so much.

My phone rings, interrupting my soon-to-be nasty ass thoughts.

"Dad, what's up? What's going on in your life?"

I'm answering the phone with more glee than I usually have when answering the phone. Also, I'm sitting in the beautiful lobby where they served breakfast, watching the sun shine on the busy streets of Tampa.

People walking around in their shorts, bikini tops, babies and children in hand, and wagons filled with beach items. Some with big beach bags on their shoulders with sunglasses over their eyes. Others in sunhats and bad sunburns.

Poor woman, peeling like a really bad orange.

My breakfast consists of fruit, a bowl of cereal, and orange juice. The sausage looks floppy and unfinished, nasty as hell, which is why I didn't pick it up.

"You go on this trip and forget all about ya daddy? I see how it is, J. You done made yourself homestead up there. I thought you were coming back this past weekend."

We both chuckle over the phone but I feel a little guilty. I completely forgot to call my dad about the extra week off work. He's just checking on me, I'm sure. I was just having a good ass time.

"Sorry, Dad. Been busy lately. What's up with you?"

He goes on and on about his business growing so fast because of his new Florida location. It's true, in my opinion, because Florida's filled with tons of retirees, college students, and stuck-up buff people who look like they're on steroids. These are the same people who hit up gyms to either look good or actually want to change their lifestyle.

Well, I shouldn't judge so harshly because this happens everywhere. Plus, I've only visited Tampa and none of the other cities.

Either way, how could his business not boom without the help of people like that?

"Dad, I'm very proud of you. You've worked so hard to get to this point in your life. I love you so much."

After we exchange greetings and support, here he goes with "So, since you haven't called your dad in a while, I'm assuming you've found my new son-in-law. Who is it?"

No, no, no, no, no. We will not start off with any of that, Dad.

Tripp's not on that level yet, that 'meet the family' level. Why would I tell my dad about Tripp right now? No matter how sprung I am, nobody would know about Tripp until it's the right time. I've made that mistake with Davin and you've seen what happened. Not right now.

Not even Cassidy knows the deep details about Tripp and me. Why should my dad know?

"Nobody because I'm just here to have fun with my co-workers."

I bite down on a whole apple and a pair of warm arms wrap themselves around my body. The same sweet lips, that embraced my skin last night, place themselves on my cheek and down my neck. My heart flutters at the feeling of bliss while Dad's voice booms through the phone.

"Journee Annalise Davenport, you think I was born yesterday? You better not be doing the nasty, the pound town pop, the downtown boogie, giving that gooshy gooshy to some random ass man in bed."

My eyes move directly to Tripp who stops kissing my shoulder and busts out in quiet laughter. This was not funny; that's my dad being shady as hell because I haven't called him. Now, he wants to be embarrassing like that one time at my sweet 16th birthday party.

Guess Tripp heard everything Dad said. Well, that's fun.

But that smile washes the embarrassment away.

Even his smiles are cute? Damn, I am as sprung as a middle school girl, crushing on the most popular guy in school. What am I going to do?

Dad clears his throat and I remember where I am.

"No, seriously. I'm having a great time. Dad, the beach is so beautiful here and there's so much to do here. I love it here but I do miss you. Sorry I didn't call you sooner."

Tripp leans over to kiss me as he sets his plate on the other side of the table. I want way more than just one kiss right now. He would have the balls to kiss me right now, not caring about the multiple people that are in this lobby seeing us right now. I enjoy this new change in his character.

Why do my sensual feelings rage at the wrong times? I'm the phone with my dad, for goodness' sake.

"It's alright, butterfly. Speaking of the beautiful area over there, we're having the retirement party over there. You'll never guess who'll be there."

Tripp's feeding me a strawberry from across the table while Dad tells me who this surprise guest is. My sensual energy is on fire at this point.

An accidental soft groan comes out right before Dad says anything else.

"Alright, now I have questions, J. You need some time alone?"

Tripp cackles and watches me with a tight smile on his face. He should stop looking at me like that. I already want to attack him on this table.

I clear my throat before answering Dad's question.

"No, not at all. The food is just really good here. Anyway, you were saying?"

I could listen to my dad announce who's coming to his retirement party but I was focused on how Tripp was eating his apple and watching the tv. Why was his tongue touching the apple before his teeth? Strange shit like that.

"...you remember Davin?"

Hold the hell on. Who?

Sensual energy lowers as I think about what Dad just asked. My eyes widen at the thought and listen to the rest. He didn't...

"Yeah, I know. He showed up at a function and chatted with my assistant. We all met up for lunch to catch up and he pitched some good financial advice for the organization. Liking what I heard, I decided on something big. So, bam!  He's CFO now."

Wow. That's all I could say. There are no words for this so I just nod. I can't find any words right now because it's pretty shocking. It shouldn't be but it is.

Oh, let's not forget what he adds at the last minute, making the situation much worse.

"You know he's divorced, right? Great timing."

Wrong. Absolutely wrong timing.

Davin now holds a high-ranking position for Dad's company. Head honcho over finances. Somebody else could've done that but I guess he needed somebody he could trust.

At the same time, how could he trust Davin when he took his money and raced off with it? Ignored us and never acknowledged that we helped him?

You know what? I shouldn't be this pressed over it. This is Dad's company and who am I to tell him who to hire, right?

There aren't any hard feelings between Davin and I but damn. An ex is an ex for a reason and he knows that. He knew that this was my ex before going through with this. We're at peace with each other but that's not the green light for Dad to play matchmaker and 'hire' him on the team.

"Wow. Dad, I didn't even know that. Congrats to him and I hope he's a great asset to the company. He's got a lot of work to do."

Yeah, a lot of work to catch up on so I hope Davin brings his A game.

"Right? Another reason why I hired him. Hopefully, you bump into him and y'all talk about the good old days."

'The good old days'. Yup, because it's not like we've completely distanced ourselves from each other and moved on with our lives but whatever.

"Alright, Dad. I've got to go. The girls and I are going shopping for a while. I'll talk to you soon. Love you."

As soon as we hang up, my eyes move to Tripp as he enjoys his breakfast. I know he heard what was said but he doesn't want to say so.

He's still a cutie while eating on a piece of toast. I shouldn't be feeling this way but I love it.

"Sounded like a fun conversation. You alright?"

My uncontrollable lips open and confess to Tripp about my feelings towards this company change. I wouldn't have a problem with this if Dad warned me ahead of time or something.

How else am I supposed to react to this? Like everything's cool or something? That 'divorced' comment wasn't even necessary. That's the main trigger here because that's shown me that Dad knows what he's doing.

I want to believe that this was a setup, like thinking the worst out of this new change. My heart is telling me otherwise, saying that it's just a business thing and I won't have to worry about Davin because we're good. Plus, Davin's got to make his money too.

After opening my big ass mouth, I watch Tripp clean up our mess and he takes my hand to kiss it.

"Let's take that shopping trip you and your girls were supposed to go on."

****

Heeeeeyyyyyyyy everybody!

Yeah I know I know, I'm a day late but I got good reasons. I'm working a little harder than before now so I barely have time to write and post.

Anyway, what do you think will happen? Do you think Davin will try to get back with Journee? Was this new power move just so happen to be a way to win Journee back?

Do you think Tripp and Journee's relationship will stick?

Find out...soon. Lol y'all Im tired.

Bye! Love y'all!
