Chapter 8: Why Life Matters

Chapter 8:  Why Life Matters

Egypt

2362 BC

"You could have saved me from trouble and told me you did need it," the man with the green eyes said as he laid against the brick wall looking up at the silver with glue eyed god.

"Ra showed me the way, but I didn't listen.I believed I needed my eye, but this journey... wasn't about exacting revenge. It was to save my people." The god looked around the tatters of Egypt as he finished speaking.

"Well stop congratulating yourself." The god turned to the raven haired man with furred eyes. "You have more protecting to do."

The god looked up to the sky with his single eye looking for his uncle. Then he spotted him he took to the sky to protect those whom had died and those whom believed in him. What the god didn't see was the green eyed man fatal cut to his side.

As the two god fought for Egypt the people looked on cheering for the God of the Sky to win and free them from his uncle. When the God with the golden eyes crawled away from his nephew leaving a golden trail, Horus followed picking up his weapon.

"Behold," Set said weazing, "the new king."

"I thought you were greatest of all the gods. Now look at you... you have nothing."

"I am the greatest god!" The new king raised the blazing staff in the air, "I spared you once. Huh? I showed you mercy."

"I won't make that mistake." The god plugged the staff into Set's chest.

When Set was officially dead, Horus took to the sky to give his Grandfather his staff to stop the great darkness from destroying all of Egypt. The kingdom of Egypt rejoiced as the new king landed a few yards away from his friend when the sun peaked from the east.

As he approached his friend, a young black girl gave the god his other eye. Instead of rejoicing he was humble as he thanked the young girl and smiled at her. He turned and made his way to his friend.

"Stupidity." The man with the raven hair stated. "You could have died."

"Well, I'm known for the impossible." The king stated with a shrug.

"My friends always told me my stupidity would get me killed."

"Jackson-"

The man exhaled as his body slumped to the side of the stone. the king looked at his mortal friend before kneeling before him, "I am so sorry."

Horus lifted his friend up and carried him to the girl he had tried to save from punishment due to her poverty.

Suddenly as flash of orange and red appeared in the embodiment of Ra.

"I have never been in debt but I am in debt to you Grandson." The former king said. "Ask and it shall be granted."

The king looked at his mortal friend, "I wish for them to meet again."

Ra looked at the mortals before nodding and light enveloping the room. A couple seconds later a gasp was heard from behind the king. The green eyed man stood and looked around the dark room before they settle on the Egyptian god.

"Have I-?"

"You've returned." The god smiled. "But I think she might need some help up."

Jackson quickly turned around and saw Zaya, a girl that he treated as his sister, with her eyes wide open with confusion.

"Jackson!"

"Zaya!" The two embraced. As they broke apart Zaya looked at the god and kneeled.

"My lord."

"It is nice to meet you Zaya." The king took her hand and helped her from the floor

Once again the Kingdom of Egypt was gathered round to watch the official crowning of the new king.

"Rise, Horus." The silver and blue eyed man stood and smiled back at his mortal friends before looking forward. The god of wisdom, Thoth, continued, "May I present the King of Egypt."

The people cheered for their new king before Horus ride his hand to speak, "From this moment on wealth will not be ones way into the after life. For years it did not matter what kind of life or what you did to better Egypt mattered. Now, kindness, hospitality, impact, and generosity will. What we do and how we act in this life matters."

Smiles and cheers were met by all of those whom would be granted and welcomed into the warm light after death. No longer did they have to worry about wealth to get into the afterlife.

After the ceremony the king stood staring at a statue of his love, Hathor.

"Are you thinking about her?" Jackson asked behind the king. Horus nodded before looking at the man.

"Do you think they would miss me if I were gone a few days?" The king asked.

"As head advisor to the king I would say no." The raven haired man stated. "But, as your friend... do it." The king looked at the man strangely. "Find the woman you love and bring her back. No king or man is great without their other half."

The king smiled and started walking towards to the edge of the palace room, "I leave Egypt in your capable hands."

When the king flew away the green eyed man turned and looked at three woman with long brown sun kissed hair.

"Well? How did it go?" Jackson asked.

"You did well," the three sister said coming forward.

"By helping him you made him see that power did not make a kingdom-" Atropos started.

"But that a kingdom is built off of truth and loyalty." Clotho finished.

"Life is where one's journey begins. Without it we cannot move on and prosper." Lachesis said coming toward her patron. "What you helped the young king realize will affect how the Greeks will look at life and death."

The son of Poseidon, looked at the sister before nodding and looking into the sunset.

"Can I still not tell him?"

"No." The Fates said.

"Why?" The sisters all looked towards the falling sun.

"One day, after you leave you shall meet again and he will find out." Lachesis stated.

"But he cannot know before." Atropos finished.

"We will let you know when it is time to leave." Clotho said smiling at the demigod. "For now, enjoy the peace."

"Thank you."

The three sister turned away from the raven haired man and disappeared.
