Up on the thrones was Trevor and the Light King. People were in a line to greet him. Mrs. Darkson led me over. "It's polite to greet the hosts of the party," she whispered to me. We got in the line, but it moved quickly. We finally got up to the thrones. Mrs. Darkson and I curtsied.

"Welcome to the ball, Queen Elise. I'm glad you're here. I'm sure your charmed to meet me," he told us.

"Charmed," muttered Mrs. Darkson sarcastically. We left. Mrs. Darkson led me to a small table, and it happened to have a vent below it. I think she actually chose this spot on purpose. I sat in one of the two chair. Mrs. Darkson sat across from me. A servant came over to us.

"Would you like anything?" he asked.

"No thank you," Mrs. Darkson responded. He left. Something seemed to be bothering Mrs. Darkson.

"Is something wrong?" I asked.

"Yes. King Ed, the Light King, seemed to want me for something. I don't know what though," she admitted. I nodded. That made sense.

"The dance will be starting in five minutes!" announced King Ed. Cheers came up from the crowd. Mrs. Darkson groaned. I heard someone walking over to us. I looked up and saw King Ed.

"Queen Elise, will you dance with me?" he asked. Mrs. Darkson looked up at him.

"I don't dance," she told him.

"I can change that," he replied. He took her hand and pulled her right out of her chair and on her feet. She was stunned as he led her to the dance floor. I knew I couldn't do anything. The dance began. King Ed led Mrs. Darkson around gracefully. A lot of the couples stopped and watch the pair dance. I giggled every single time Mrs. Darkson stepped on King Ed's toes on purpose with her heels. I thought he wasn't going to have any toes left.

I looked down at the vent. Two red eyes looked at me. I jumped. Then, I realized it was Nyx. "Nyx," I whispered. She winked and disappeared. Mrs. Darkson came back tired. She collapsed into the seat. "How was it?" I asked, and then, I laughed. She just glared at me.

"Dinner time!" announced a servant. Everyone headed towards two giant doors made of dark wood and gold. Mrs. Darkson and I followed. When we entered the door, we saw everyone had assigned seats at a giant gold table surrounded by golden seats with velvet cushions. We found our seats next to the electric couple and King Ed and Trevor. Mrs. Darkson was right next to King Ed. I was next to the Electric Queen.

Once everyone had sat down in the seats, King Ed used his fork and hit his glass to get everyone's attention. "I know conflict is starting to rise between Light and Dark, and I would like to resolve it," he announced to the crowd. Everyone glanced at each other. "Queen Elise," King Ed said, turning to her.
