I woke up with light in my face. I realized for the first time the castle was lit up with torches. I got up and went outside the room. Nyx was waiting. "Breakfast time," she told me. She led me down the hall. She opened a door, and inside was a giant table already set up with food. Mrs. Darkson had already sat down. I sat at the table, Nyx beside me. Mrs. Darkson looked really tired.

Suddenly, a guard came in the room, his boots clicking the floor tiles at a steady beat. "Prince Light would like to come in. Shall I let him?" he asked. Mrs. Darkson nodded. The guard opened the door. Trevor walked in. He was in a prince's outfit.

"Your majesty," he said.

"Trevor," she muttered.

"I'm Prince Light. My father is the king and has invited you to the ball he is hosting tonight at his palace. Dress is formal. You can bring one person with you. Please attend," he told us. Mrs. Darkson rose an eyebrow as he left.

"Prince Light," she muttered under her breath. Nyx and I didn't say anything.

Later, Mrs. Darkson came in the room. "Will you go with me?" she asked. I looked up at her. "My husband isn't here, and there's no one else I really want to bring," she admitted. I nodded. "I didn't scare you, did I? I didn't mean to. I feel like I'm different here," she told me. I smiled. I got up and hugged her.

"Thanks, Mrs. Darkson," I responded.

"So, should I sneak in?" asked a voice. We turned and saw Nyx.

"I don't know if you'll be able to get in there," Mrs. Darkson told her.

"Oh, I will," responded Nyx, rubbing her hands together. Mrs. Darkson laughed.

"You can ride in the carriage with us," she told Nyx. Nyx's eyes went wide.

"The actual Dark Carriage?" Nyx asked, amazed. Mrs. Darkson nodded. Nyx fanned herself.

We climbed into the carrage. Mrs. Darkson was in her queen outfit, and I was in a black dress. Nyx was in a black ninja suit, and was making her mastermind plan to sneak in the Light Castle. She had a watermelon, but I hoped she wasn't going to do what she did last time. She kept asking us questions though. "Does the Light Castle have vents?" she asked. Mrs. Darkson nodded. "Do they have any vent rooms?" she asked. Mrs. Darkson didn't know.

We arrived at the Light Castle, and the sun was shining brightly. I could see two people from each kingdom. Mrs. Darkson and I climbed out of the carriage. Nyx snuck off, and she was gone. We walked towards the entrance. The king and queen of water were next to us. I could see where they stepped because they left wet shoe prints.

As we stepped in the castle, I could tell already it was lit up and decorated for a ball. Then, I saw three thrones. One of them was empty.
