Today is Japanese Mountain Day,

a holiday for those who work so hard,

lots seem to suffer from poor health,

their welfare is given scant regard.

Mountain Day in Japan is also known as "Yama no hi " A revision to the Law on National Holidays was enacted in a parliament session on May 23rd 2014 to be enforced from January 1st 2016, so Japanese Mountain Day will always be celebrated on August 11th. The legislation also says it will give opportunities for families to appreciate the mountains and their blessings, this is quite understandable as 70% of the land mass of japan is mountains. Japanese employees usually work 60 hours per week, this has led to a condition called karoshi, ( death from overwork ) of which there are two recognised types, death from cardiovascular illness linked to overwork and suicide following work related mental stress.
