Time : 7 a.m.

Eren's POV

"Exfil chopper ETA 5 minutes. Get prepared and leave this god forsaken place.", one of the soldier said.

As everybody prepared to leave the place, I grabbed my rifle and sat at the corner of the room. I put my head down, remember what Jean said earlier today.

Flashback

"Jean....what happen...?", I squatted down and asked him.

"It's all my fault.....It's all my fault.... It's all my fault.....they're all dead because of me......", he kept mumbled as his tears dripped on the ground, ignored my question.

"JEAN! Calm down....", I grabbed his head and forced him to stared into my eyes.

"Eren....I'm sorry....I just can't.....", he wiped his tears away as he looked at me.

"Private Jean Kristien, assign under Sergeant Mitabi.....", Sergeant Ian said at the other side of the room.

"I'm sorry Sergeant Ian, can you give us some private space?", I said.

"Okay.", soon he leave the room, leaving us alone. Although he's quite a dick when we're younger but seeing him in this kind of condition is unbearable.

"Jean, tell me what happen?"

"We're assigned to the northeast corner of the city. Sergeant Mitabi leading a group of four include Thomas, Mina, Marco and me. When we walked across the road, Mina's leg is shot by an enemy sniper, we managed to drag her to safety but the nightmare begin.", he said as Mikasa gave him a bottle of water.

"What happen next?"

"In order to get out from that killbox, Sergeant Mitabi sacrificed himself to get us out of there. During our escape, Thomas and Mina were shot dead. As we ran towards safety, a random grenade popped out of nowhere and.....", he suddenly stopped talking as tears slowly rolled down his cheek.

"And......Marco died protecting me....", I pay on his shoulder as I signaled Mikasa to follow me.

"Give him some time...", I whispered. She took a look at him and nodded back. I closed the door and Lieutenant Rico is waiting for me.

"So....it's bad news, right?", she said.

"Yeah, everyone in the Mitabi squad except Jean are all KIA.", I said.

"That's a sad news....Thanks for the information.", she said as she walked away.

Flashback end

"Eren....! Eren...!", I snapped back from the flashback as I saw Mikasa yelling at me. "What?"

"The chopper is incoming. Get ready.", I stood up, patted away all the dust and ran towards the rooftop.

"Check for any enemy activities! I don't want this bird to be shot down or I'll have a very big pain in the ass.", Lieutenant Rico said as some of the squad members stood check the surroundings.

As time passed, I soon heard through voice of the chopper coming from the distance. I looked towards the direction and saw two chopper incoming. We fast-rope from the roof to the ground as the chopper landed at the school yard.

"Come on! Faster! Faster! Every second we spend here, the more dangerous it become!"

As the chopper landed, a new squad replace our position to fight the enemy. Soon we're all loaded to the chopper as we headed back to the base.

"Ahh...finally I'm back.", Connie said as he stretched his back.

"God I'm starving.....", Sasha said as she dragged her zombie lifeless like body towards the canteen. Although the mood seems happy but I'm not in a mood of joking around, my eyes soon landed on Jean whose been taking care by the paramedic.

"He'll be find, don't worry about him.", Armin come by my side and said. "Come on, let's have breakfast together."

I sighed as I smiled at him and walked towards the canteen.

"Eren Yeager! Mikasa Ackerman! Drop all your gears and meet me in the office in five!", Lieutenant Rico yelled at us from behind. "Actions come with consequences!"

"Yes ma'am!", she walked away after that. I sighed as I stripped away my gear and put it on the ground. Then I realized there are many pair of eyes staring as us.

"Looks like we get famous...", Mikasa said as she put her rifle down.

"Whatever, Fuck it...", I mumbled. "Armin...so please...?"

"Fine, I'll take it back. Good luck.", he said and sighed.

"Thank you!"

We stood in front of Lieutenant Rico's desk with our hands at our back. She just stared at us, none of us is making any noise. We looked at the front, doesn't even dare to look at her.

"*sigh* So....have a seat.", she said as we nervously pulled the chair and sat down. "Don't be nervous, I'm not here to lecture you."

"Huh...?", we widened our eyes and looked at her in confusion.

"Okay....both of you did something wrong. Disobey orders from a commanding officer.", she said.

"Yes, we're realize that."

"But the determination in your eyes Eren, when you say leave no man behind, changes my mind. Both of you are too precious, a reckless but useful dude and a sniper with accuracy that I've never seen before."

"*awkward laugh* A reckless but useful dude.....", I said.

"So we're done here, go and have your meal.", she said. We stood up and walked towards the door.

"One last thing, Eren, next time please follow orders from your commanding officer."

"Yes ma'am!"

Rico's POV

"Kids nowadays....", I sighed as I started to write a report regarding last night's event.

*Knock knock*

"Come in.", I said as the door open. "Oh Sergeant Ian, what's that matter?"

"You got a memo.", he said as he put a piece of paper on my table. I opened it and started to read it. My eyes widened as I saw a certain line.

"Emm...Ian, tell the kids to be ready.", I said.

"What happen?", he asked.

"Captain Levi is coming soon for recruits."
